Japan was weird.
It was probably the most unoriginal opinion of the past couple centuries, but there was little more that Linda Layne could say about the country. All its eccentricities and uniqueness, the odd traditions and history that filled every facet of their culture... It was all just really fucking weird. Linda never thought she'd ever miss the blazing hellscape that was her home country, but at least everything kind of made some sense there.
That wasn't to say Japan was all bad, however. Linda had adapted to the language pretty well, much to the surprise of her classmates. The food was alright, but the curries weren't quite spicy enough for her liking. The weather was... Well, she always had preferred the cold, so she actually kinda liked it. It was also nice and clean, but to an almost uncomfortable and even creepy extent. At least to Linda. What else...
Oh, of course, U.A. was pretty interesting enough too.
Which was fortunate, as that was the whole reason the students of ANZHOP College were here. It was some kind of display of unity with their fellow Japanese Hero Students, as boring as that sounded. What it basically meant is that they got to hand around the school, see how they did things here. Maybe even contribute to some of the events if there were any spots that needed feeling. Getting a feel for the place, for the kids here... It had all been really damn interesting.
These U.A. kids were something else. All so high and mighty, so ready to act like the biggest damn Heroes, ready to show off and remind the world they were the cream of the crop. It was hilarious to her. All these tryhards full of hot air, and many of them didn't even have a sense of humor. The honorable and powerful Japanese always had this habit of looking down on others that tickled Linda to her core.
It also made these kids really fun to mess with, much to the dismay of her teachers and some of her peers. Servo usually laughed along, but Sam was always telling her off. Uptight little...
Anyway, speaking of victims among the students, Linda spotted another potential one pretty close by. The young Australian woman had been strolling through the school grounds, aimlessly enjoying the cool air, when she spotted one of the U.A. kids just sleeping there.
A devilish look in her eyes, she walked over to his sleeping body, glancing down at the boy. Did he have... An eyepatch?
Hmm. This was a pretty mean idea. So she executed it right away.
Crouching down, the venomous girl would delicately try to pinch his eyepatch with her fingers, pulling it back and up, hoping it was somewhat elastic...
Before letting it go.
"Oh, sorry. Just checking you're alive."

The sports festival is a special occasion that Yuuto never got to enjoy during middle school due to many incidents that hindered his participation. So it was to say he was a slight bit giddy at the prospect of actually joining this time and the schools coming by were new and stuff. From what he had read on them, they seem strong but using the students to show some kind of unification must be some kind of contradiction. There's bound to be some level of competition between the schools and he bets his ass that the other schools feel the same on that end. Depending on who they choose, it could lead to more rivalry's than unification.
Thus as a result, Yuuto trained his ass off against various students in his year and trained on and off like crazy just to a reasonable level where he feels good enough to compete.”Fuck..Im sore..”. He would mutter to himself as he adjusted his position on the bench. The training also included training his body somewhat and learning a few new tricks given how his quirk works and he makes use of it. It all paid off and he has a few scores to settle against some of the people in his year, especially Yasashi. He hopes to fight him in the tournament more than the foreign students.
Their clash is better shown to the people rather than a bunch of them fighting against some newcomers. Well that's what he thought anyways but there were other things in his mind.
Much like taking a nap outside where the weather is nice and the sun is shining. It was a nice day for a nap and he would find the perfect place to lay down and just sleep. Anxiety of the festival was getting to him so he needed as much rest as possible as he needed to be ready to take on the others. Why he decided on a spot like this is up for debate but the point is that he is just here relaxing.
“Why do I get the feeling I’m being wat-”
However he failed to realize he was being messed with as he felt his eyepatch being tugged and a light snap could be felt. He would dart awake and get up to see a girl who obviously wasn't from UA. The natural assumption is that she is from one of the other schools and of all types he had to meet.
Visible annoyance could be seen on his face as he would yawn for a moment before reacting to what the girl just said.
“A dead body wouldn't be out in the middle of UA, who the hell are you?”

Oh man, the look on his face and that sudden jolt were perfect. It took everything Linda had not to grin at the fruits of her work, as she delighted in this teasing so very much. To annoy and prod like this was something of a specialty of hers, though it was often a source of disapproval from her elders. Topsy always told her she was better off saving these kinds of tricks and annoyances for villains, but what harm was there in practicing a bit on her peers? If it was going to be useful in the future for them all, certainly they wouldn't mind.
Continuing to wear a slightly bored look on her face, Linda shrugged lightly at Yuuto's rebuttal, as if not entirely convinced by his line of reasoning. "I'm not that familiar with the customs here, so I didn't make any assumptions. In some places they leave bodies around like it's nothing, y'know?" That wasn't something she actually had any knowledge of, but she said it with enough confidence to hopefully obscure the lie.
"As for who I am... The name's Linda. Linda Layne. I'm from ANZHOP College. Y'know, Hero School from down under and all that. Now, be nice and gimme your name too, Patch." Evidently, Linda had already decided on a nickname for him, as she glanced towards the thing over his eye. She was about... 50% sure it was just for show. These Japanese kids really did like to be dramatic about everything, after all.

Yuuto from the getgo could tell that this girl wasn't from this school. Demeanor, attitude and the fact she said she wasn't familiar with the country's customs. Before he could even ask the question of who she is, she would soon answer that question on her own. An Australian student is the last thing he was expecting to ruin his nap.Are they all like this? Or is she the case of being one of the good ones who like to cause trouble? Whatever the case, she is doing a good job at making him agitated as hell. But punching a student outside the tournament would be really bad for school relations and he would prefer to not deal with that sort of nightmare.
He would grit his teeth and regain his composure. After a moment of readjusting his eyepatch, he would respond in his usual manner.
“I can tell for a fact that the first thing you said was a lie”, he would reply in a sharp tone as he would get up from the ground.
“Second of all, my name is Yuuto Samejima. A first year student at UA”, he would answer and he dusts himself off. Not even five minutes and already he has a bad feeling that he met this girl. She doesn't look too bad but the attitude is sure to drive him absolutely mad if he doesn't put his foot down.
“Now do you do that to everyone you meet or is your hobby messing with people who are sleeping?”

He was a pretty volatile one, this boy. Linda could tell right away from how he looked, gritting his teeth, glaring in to her and accusing her of lying. He wasn't exactly wrong, of course, but that didn't stop Linda from playing innocent. "Well, innocent until proven guilty and all that, so I'm afraid you'll just have to assume I'm not lying. Japan is a weird place, after all, so why wouldn't I assume it had weird customs?" That kind of roundabout logic was something of a specialty of hers. Linda was of the opinion that anything could be rationalized with the right amount of cleverness and pure bullshit.
Speaking of bullshit, as he adjusted that eyepatch, Linda became pretty sure as she looked at it that it was just for show. Whatever, not too important now. He did offer his name, at least. "Yuuto Samejima. A very... Japanese name. Nice to meet you, Patch." Linda would respond, butchering the pronunciation pretty badly. Japanese was such an annoying language, so she very much preferred to stick with the English name she'd decided on for him.
When he pressed further about why she was messing with him, Linda shrugged her shoulders, continuing to feign innocence. "Like I said, I was just checking to make sure you were alive. Of course, if you don't believe that, then I'll just say that I was curious. Never seen someone with an eye patch in person before. You actually need it, or is it just a fashion thing?" Linda inquired, idly waving a hand around his covered eye to try and see if he had any vision through the patch. If it was real, that would honestly be kind of boring. If it wasn't... Well, it would at least confirm to Linda that Japanese people were very, very weird.

“Its uh.....just call me Yuuto”, is his response as she brought up the eye patch. Out of all things she decides to poke at, she pokes the one area that he desperately didn't want to answer. That and he's pretty damn sure she can read him like a damn book considering how quick her responses are. Sharp to a point and woefully blunt to say the least. He’d ignored the comment about Japan and preferred to make mental notes about her attitude. Her japanese is barely passable, is she even trying? But then again, she was at least trying compared to some other asshole who was visiting who was just using an app on his phone. Again, he’d move the topic along as he put his hands in pockets.
“A-Anyways who the hell are you, are you a local visitor or one of those visiting students?”, he’d ask straight out in hopes that she would give a straight answer since his mood wasn't exactly in the mood to deal with this sort of person. A normal person would have walked away but not Yuuto, he decided to stick around and see what she does. Maybe she is strong, maybe she is interesting, its up to her really.

"Nah, I'll call you Patch."
Linda would reply nonchalantly, briefly flashing a devilish grin at the poor boy. She was very clearly doing things her own way, without much regards to what others insisted. The fact he'd started to become a bit more reserved told Linda her venomous tongue was working. Weakening the target with her tools was the very core of her strategy, both on the battlefield and in conversation. Whereas some people put so much care into everything, from technique to ettiquette, to her it didn't mean much once her fangs were out.
When he asked who she was, the girl blinked a moment, certain she'd made things clear before. "Hm, maybe you are part-dead? I said I'm from ANZHOP College, didn't I? That's the Australia and New Zealand Hero School. Then again, I might be lying. But, of course, I never lie, so it's definitely the truth." She gave him a few moments to decide how he felt about that mess.
"Y'know, you don't have to be shy about the whole eyepatch thing. I mean, it's weird, but you Japanese seem to pride yourself on weirdness. Speaking of which, are the other U.A. kids weird, or just you?" Another quick flurry, aiming to try and get a bit of information to sate some of curiosity, as she briefly stuck out her forked tongue in a teasing gesture.

“Shit….”
Yuuto’s facade was slowly falling apart as he was fumbling with words more than usual. Either she has a good way of messing with people or he is really out of it right now. Possibly both considering he was just napping around and the subject is quite embarrassing. He can't bring himself to lash out as his usual since the DC has been on his ass for a while. So he just let the nickname stick as he can't really say anything to fight back. But then her question did provide a good exit to the topic and into a new one, something he was familiar with.
“Define weird….we have like three students who have a tendency to get blown up, a few energetic loud mouths who are magnets for trouble, someone who makes modified roombas and a collection of students who are quick to throw hands 90% of the time...I assume your school is just as weird or you just enjoy messing with people?”, he’d reply as he takes off the eye patch. The nickname already stuck so might as well come clean with the truth because its going to keep going in circles. "...Either way, its either we stand around here talking or I just find you some other students who are more fun to mess with...there's a few that come to mind on that. You're prolly gonna like messing with the dragon in this school...."
