APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Leon looks like something out of a high fantasy novel. With a leathery hide, red scales and bony plates covering the tops of his arms, legs, and face, and a whitish, slightly softer underbelly and inner areas. He also sports a spined and barbed tail, as well as two leathery wings, the limbs of which are covered by scales and small bony plates. He has two back-swept horns that frame his face and dark hair that grows between them which he also keeps swept back. Leon tends to wear very nice hip and trendy clothing, although all of it has been modified to allow his wings and tail to pass through them unhindered. When in casual company Leon keeps his wings more or less tucked close to his back, but in more formal settings he tends to drape them over his shoulders like a cloak, using the claws on them as a clasp of sorts. During the colder months of the year, Leon will be bundled up with layer upon layer upon layer against the cold, wearing jackets, sweatshirts, scarves, hoods, hats, and more to keep the cold out

Personality:
Leon’s personality mirrors his appearance. Tough and stoic on the outside, warm on the inside. Being a stranger in a strange land, Leon is still finding his feet. He tries to play the tough guy, owing to his intimidating exterior, but is a caring individual on the inside, in his own way. He’s never been comfortable being himself and “letting his freak flag fly”, often citing embarrassment, but with the right person or people, he might cut loose. He’s naturally helpful when it comes to offering pointers and assistance, but because of his stoic nature and the way he distances himself, this can come off as gruff and abrasive. He’s not mean-spirited though, just defensive.
When working out, Leon tends to retain his serious demeanor, however when he’s gaming you can catch him with his guard down. He tends to crack jokes and be a bit more jovial, although if he realizes how open he’s being he’ll usually clam up. Generally Leon has a fairly long temper and a thick skin, but there are a few things that will trigger him to swift anger. Once angered, Leon ups his intimidation factor significantly, and if pushed too far, he can get violent. Calming him can be difficult, and he tends to simmer and brood. Once he’s cooled off though, it’s possible to make amends.
Leon has absolute confidence in himself and his ability to "win" to the point of it often being infectious, but this is a double-edged sword. Inverse to his drive to succeed, he doesn't know when to quit.

HISTORY
Leon’s young life has been shaped by the challenges of his Quirk, even from the very start. Born in San Francisco, California, to two loving parents--a Quirkless father named Jason and an angel-winged mother named Sara--Leon suffered from difficulty breathing as a child due to his developing flame glands. The youth would hack and cough, sometimes spitting flammable liquid, and other times accidental gouts of flame. It was totally unpredictable, and a constant challenge for his parents, but they were unwilling to give up. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, tragedy struck when Leon was three years old.
During one of his coughing fits, Leon accidentally caught the apartment building they were living in on fire. Due to shortcuts taken by the contractor to save on cost, the building did not have proper fire protection, and before long the entire complex was wreathed in flame. His family was initially able to escape the burning building, but Leon’s father went back into the burning building to try and help more residents evacuate. That was the last time he was seen alive. Leon’s father died in the inferno. Traumatized by the loss, Leon has never breathed fire since.
Following the loss of his father, Leon’s mother did the best she could to raise Leon as a single, working mother, but she couldn’t always be there for him. Other schoolchildren were cruel, teasing Leon and shunning him for his appearance, always forcing him to play the villain when they played ‘Heroes and Villains’, and calling him names like devil, gargoyle, weirdo, and freak. “You can’t even wear a cape, and you can’t be a hero without a cape!,” they would taunt, and Leon put up with it--to a point. The breaking point was reached when one boy went too far, saying “You don’t even have a Dad!”. This enraged Leon and he beat the boy senseless, leaving deep scars on his face from his draconic claws. Realizing he had gone too far, Leon regretted his actions, but done was done.
For the rest of his grade school days, Leon kept largely to himself and a small group of friends. He had an almost primal desire to be athletic, so he stayed in shape and worked out, splitting his time between that and his other passion--video game arcades. All the while, however, he harbored a secret desire to be a hero. When he was younger it had been about playing the hero, but as he grew into his teenage years it became much more than that--although the more time passed, the less likely it seemed he would be able to act on it. That is, until the summer before high school.
Having resigned himself to a mundane, ordinary high school, Leon was faced with a sudden, tumultuous change. His mother had been promoted within her company. The new title came with some serious perks and vastly increased pay, but would also require her to relocate abroad. To Japan. Presented with this new reality, forced to leave his old friends and old life behind, Leon decided to take the shot and pursue his dream. He filled out a U.A. admissions form, sent it in, and...started taking summer classes to learn to speak Japanese.
