There was a lot going on and she wanted to calm down and let it go so she focused on things that could not hurt. Paperwork. Paperwork would not hide things from her, no feelings, nothing. The Gym was doing fine, she had every little detail down from the last half-year and the loan was almost paid off again and that was doing fine. She might need to make more advertisement on the lessons that they had, as the free ones had a few people show up but they also had paid martial art classes. They had enough people coming here for normal training. She blew the hair out of her face and continued, right they might invest in that. She needed a new person to look into the job at the pool because she could not do that and provide massages and training session on how to warm up and well to not die herself. Blergh, she did not feel like it.
The worst was that she was avoiding G. Very, very badly. Either going to sleep way too early or way too late. And well that was a lot of things she did not want to talk about even though she promised she would. She wasn't how to fix it and it wasn't on top of her list. Business was. Their daughter was if you could call it theirs. This was too frustrating! She stood up and looked out of the window. She noticed the new shop looked almost ready to open and she wondered what she should do about, say hi? Was that stupid? No one said hi when they came here but she felt like she no other ideas and maybe it was nice to be welcomed, heck she had wanted it, so she should try now. Right... right now!
She wrote a quick note and put it on the desk, hurried downstairs, threw the baby monitor in the hands of the receptionist and hurried out. She went into the store to buy some stupid cookies, she had no time to work on making them or something. She took a card and hurried back to the store, oh it was a bakery. She knocked on the door, yes it was closed but she swore she had seen someone in there. Time to put the point into it and showed the card as she waved if someone would tell her they were closed.

hello and thanks for all the snacks THE CROCODILIAN DEPOSITED A STACK OF BOXES with an "oomph", touching her brow with the back of a talented hand. The past week has been a whirlwind of moving furniture, repainting, hanging decor, meeting with health inspectors and replacing kitchen appliances as necessary. The Kaiju Cakery was finally starting to look like a bakery, which left room for other, more trivial endeavors: moving personal belongings into the loft on the top floor. The elevator expedited the process significantly, but that didn't change the fact that Teruko was singlehandedly moving boxes from the ground floor, to their respective rooms on the top floor.
She found her way back into the hall, back into the lift, and pushed the button for the first floor.
While the building was by no means glamorous yet, her mind's eye danced with visions of what this new location could be. The first floor was the bakery, of course. The second floor could host meetings or music nights or dances. And the upper floors? The possibilities were endless. Apartments? Boarding? Something else?
Teruko smiled privately. The original location had been too small for such dreams. But now that she'd bought this building, the possibilities were endless. The lift arrived at the first floor with a jolt, jarring the woman from her daydream. Teruko disembarked.
When she walked back into the main dining area of the café, she was greeted by an insistent knock at the door. Was the paper on the windows not enough a sign that the store was closed? What about the handwritten note on the windows that proclaimed "Coming Soon!"
There had, of course, been no shortage of curious onlookers. And, given how overheated Teruko was feeling, she might as well use this as an opportunity to take a break…
The kaiju wrangled keys from her back pocket, and moved to unlock the door.
"One moment~" she sang.
She could've just as easily peered out the window above the door, but didn't want to startle her visitor. After a momentary struggle, the door was unlocked, and the crocodilian opened the door to a beautiful raven-haired woman.
"Hello," she greeted. Her eyes went to the cookies. A jagged grin touched her features.
"I am Teruko Serizawa," the kaiju explained, bowing at the waist, "And THIS-" she righted herself, gesturing grandly at the clearly-closed establishment, "-will one day be my bakery. In a few weeks, if everything goes according to plan."
She lowered her arms. Although Teruko was enough of a sight to behold on her own, her outfit was decently commonplace-- ripped jeans, sleeveless shirt. Her massive tail was settled ponderously upon the floor.
"Please, come in," the mutant insisted, stepping aside to let the woman in, "To what do I owe this visit?"

It wasn't fair that Hanako needed a distraction to disturb someone's moving time or how you would want to call the time to settle in and get everything up and running before a big opening. She could maybe ask when that was, surely wouldn't expect much customers or maybe hers would go there if she would put up some flyers, no one would say no to sugar before or after a good gym session. It was a bakery, right? She would not miss that, cakery, yes, well it was fine. She took a deep breath, she was being stupid but being outside the gym and being away from G was definitely what she needed right now. She could not avoid him all the time but she was sort of trying, did that make matters worse? She heard the rattling of a key and she was sure she heard someone say something that sounded like moment. So she stayed put, yes, this was definitely a bad idea but she was going to hold on to it anyway. All her ideas were horrible ideas, that was only proven over the last couple of days and she did not want to open her mouth about it to anyone, what a lot could change in a matter of days.
Well even if something was called the Kaiju Cakery, Hanako had not expected the woman behind the door. She assumed it was a woman based on the sound of her voice and yet, the raven-haired gym-owner quickly turned her surprise in a smile. Nice one, she liked the twist on the name and the owner already. Bringing cookies to a bakery though, how stupid. She should have thought of something else. "Nice to meet you Serizawa-san, I am Hanako M-Hajimari." Almost introducing herself with her maiden name might even make matters worse, she still did not get use to it. She liked the idea of a bakery, something good, something to get her lunch if she felt like eating properly, yes!
She got inside and looked at the boxed setting that she found there, definitely she was too early and she turned back to Teruko when she asked why Hanako came to visit. "Oh, I own the gym across the street and I wanted to welcome you to the place and well wish you good luck with your establishment." She heaved the cookies a little, "Not my best start to bring cookies but I noticed you were around today that's why I came by."

hello and thanks for all the snacks "HAJIMARI-SAN, NICE TO MEET YOU," Teruko said with a faint bow and another toothless smile. They didn’t know each other, yet, so there was no need for the kaiju to flash her shark-like teeth at the unfamiliar woman. Her tail curled and flicked with curiosity, and Teruko steepled her hands as she ushered the woman in, meandering towards a small cafe table that was relatively devoid of boxes or detritus. Tea, she should get tea-- the woman’s explanation and offered treats held the larger woman still for the moment, however.
“Oh! From across the street, yes!” the kaiju said brightly. It had been her intention to venture to the neighboring businesses and introduce herself, but she just hadn’t gotten around to it quite yet. She had, however, caught numerous glimpses of the gym in her various comings and goings. She surveyed the proffered cookies and graciously took them into her taloned hands.
“Thank you for such a warm welcome,” reflexively she sniffed the treats, closing her eyes lightly, “These smell phenomenal. I don’t suppose you’d like to share a few of these over a drink? Some tea, perhaps? Milk?”
The older woman needed a break from set-up, and could use some socializing, too.

Right, it was unfair to use this woman her time simply because she wanted a distraction from her own brain. Her own bad thoughts and the fear of bumping into the man she married, the man she could not look at out of shame for what happened. She almost said her own name, which felt wrong and it pulled on her heartstrings. No, she was doing fine, it was fine. She accepted the offer to come inside and realized it might have really been a bad timing considering how many boxes there were still. However, there was an empty table and she walked there on the invitation of Teruko and offered the information that she was from across the street and brought cookies.
"Oh, tea would be great." She smiled as Teruko was really kind about the cookies, she could have done better but that wasn't within her mental capability and so on. It would be fine like this, "That is if I am really not in your way, I can imagine setting up a business is hard work." Also for as far as she had seen Teruko was alone, she wasn't sure if she had seen other movers but it was too impolite to ask as well as offering G's help when he wasn't here. That would be strange and she wasn't even sure if he would do so. Maybe he needed a distraction from her as well.

hello and thanks for all the snacks MAKING TEA WAS THE HOSPITABLE thing to do. Her parents had run a bed and breakfast, after all, so having a guest without offering them at least something to drink was easily a cardinal sin, in Teruko's book. The reptilian woman retrieved an electric kettle from behind the counter, filling it with water from a industrial-grade sink up in the front.
"No trouble at all," Teruko said brightly. Kettle filled, it was returned to the heating element and flicked on. She also retrieved a box of teas to choose from, cups and saucers, honey, sugar, and plates, before returning to the table where the woman had landed.
"I was actually taking a break from setting-up shop, to set-up my apartment upstairs," she said brightly, "I just moved here from Tokyo, so there's a lot of... shuffling around, you know?"
Sure, there'd been movers to help relocate the big stuff-- the furniture, and the boxes-- but she still needed to unpack.
"I've got this grand vision for the place," Teruko crooned, "Downstairs will be a cozy little bakery and cafe, and then I'll live upstairs. Maybe I'll rent out rooms from the floors in-between, who knows! It's such a fun little building. And I've got to keep myself busy somehow!"
As if owning a bakery and periodic vigilantism wasn't enough on its own.
"I'm talking too much about myself, though," the woman said dismissively, "Hajimari-san, tell me about your gym! Is it a gym for just exercise? Or do you specialize in a particular sport or martial art?"

Hanako looked around now that she was sure it was no problem at all. It was interesting to see how this building was on the inside. Obviously, she had seen it a lot on the outside and hers was so different for well various obvious reasons too. At the moment, she liked this building a lot more. Now that she was sure she did not bother Teruko, she felt a little more relaxed, for as far as she could be at this point. She eventually took a seat at one of the tables and kept on looking around, she wondered how it would look like when Teruko was done with the place. It was really nice to have something like this across from her. She could use such distractions in her life and she watched the woman as she took the cups, and plates, the honey and sugar and she was just impressed with her quirk. It made Hanako frown, something looked familiar, but it might be rude to point it out. Oh, she was going to live upstairs, how nice. "It's good to take breaks, glad I found the right timing then." She smiled politely, and she nodded, "Do you like Musutafu then?" They lived at the edge of Tokyo and it was about 20 to 30-minute drive from their house to the gym.
She listened, very interested at Teruko about her plans, she leaned on her hand with her cheek and stared at the other woman and smiled. "It sounds lovely, I think you picked the perfect spot as well. Maybe we could help advertise, I have a lot of hungry people after a good round of martial art lessons." She said with a soft laugh. Yes, G was a hard trainer and well who knows. It was a joke but if Teruko liked it, Hanako wouldn't mind.
She waved away that Teruko talked too much, "A few months ago I was like you, we opened in September. So don't be ashamed, it's nice to start your own business. We have a lot we focused on, including quirk training and martial arts. But we also have massages, a swimming pool for water activities and yoga for example." Yea, she had not started small which had maybe been a dumb idea now that she thought about it, but it was in the past and they had managed and they would continue to do so. Especially if she had nothing better to do than plunge within the work anyway.

hello and thanks for all the snacks TERUKO SMILED FAINTLY AT THE WOMAN'S SENTIMENT and her polite inquiry, crossing her taloned hands on the tabletop.
“Mustafu seems lovely. Not as frantic as central Tokyo, but… just busy enough, hm?” she remarked, “I’m not from Tokyo, but got used to the excitement of the central city.”
The enterprising side of her beamed at the idea of advertising at a gym, of all places.
“It’s the perfect business scheme,” the woman said conspiratorially, “People will go to your gym to get fit, and then come here to eat and need to work-out more! It’s foolproof!”
It probably was not foolproof, but the thought was humorous in its own right. The crocodilian offered the woman her collection of teas to choose from, listening carefully as she explained her own backstory.
“Quirk training, too? Wow!” she said appreciatively. The rest seemed to be pretty standard-fare for larger gyms, not so much for privately-owned ones, so the whole thing was rather impressive. But quirk training was an unusual thing to hear.
“Can’t imagine the insurance for a business that offers quirk training,” she admitted. The tea kettle was rapidly boiling behind the counter, so she rose quickly to retrieve it, minding her tail. Upon return, Teruko ceremoniously filled both tea cups—force of habit, really. The kettle was then placed upon the table, and she reclaimed her seat.
“I’m impressed all-around,” she said, “I hope that your business does well. Are you from Mustafu?”

Ah, she had made an assumption but an interesting way of talking anyway. She nodded, there were more cities like that. She officially came from Kyoto, but had not been there much, she had been there last year.. Or well about last year's april and that was a strange moment and a strange fascination but she agreed, "Musutafu feels like just busy enough indeed." How she had liked Tokyo before was a miracle, she now had learned the other side of the world, the other side of the city and she wouldn't want to live there anymore. Probably because of Kai too, she loved that they had a garden for her and Miku to tend to, enough space for Haruuhi to tinker and places for Kai to play.
Even though she felt horrible, it had to do with avoiding her husband. Which was why she twirled the ring that was on her ring finger from time to time but she couldn't help but laugh about the foolproof comment Teruko made. "I see a booming business for the both of us." She smiled, therefore, and couldn't help but chuckle a little. She thanked her for the tea and picked a herbal one while talking to Teruko about the gym.
She nodded, that had been quite a hassle, "To make sure younger people learn control of their quirk, we try to avoid the accidentally explosions or breaking of tides so to say." Which was her sort of PR talk. She shouldn't have to do that when she was trying to just be friendly with the neighbors. She gave a little of a pained face, "It is definitely something I try to avoid looking at when doing the accountancy, but it brings in a lot of customers too and especially parents with young kids that don't learn how to control it so easily. It is nice to watch those parents grow with their kids and no longer be affraid for the accidentally quirk use." And get issues and what not, yea G was good at that. She knew he had done so before, but that had been illegal, she was very glad it no longer was.
The long conversations with the government to get the license, the long conversations with the insurance company and the advice of the builders of other facilities what to use to avoid damage at a maximum rate. It had not been her cup of tea and on the other hand, it had prepped her very well for her own business classes, she had even gone and went further into that.
She smiled again quite kindly to Teruko even though her state of mind was fuzzier, "I am originally from Kyoto but I have lived most of my life in Tokyo, I never knew I wanted less of the busy stuff, we moved to the outskirts of Tokyo and closer to Musutafu last year and it's great." She really liked Musutafu more. But this was no time to tell the new neighbour all about her kid and the like, she was hesitant about that in general.

hello and thanks for all the snacks THE CROCODILIAN WOMAN POURED HOT WATER into Hanako’s teacup before pouring her own cup, and offered the collection of tea’s up to her guest, first—had Hanako chosen tea? Teruko wasn’t sure. She’d wait, however, until the other woman made her selection before choosing a mint tea for herself.
“I had never thought about it like that,” Teruko remarked, in terms of “quirk training” being used by parents of quirked children, “I suppose that’s my mutant bias showing through, hm?”
Or her “never had kids” bias, whichever. “Quirk training” carried such a connotation of vigilantism, heroism, or villainy, that it didn’t dawn-on the kaiju that some everyday-people might pursue it simply to… avoid having their toddler combust and set fire to the couch.
“Heh, guess it all works-out in the end.”
Teruko lowered her teabag into the water, watching as the leaves started to tint the water brown. She helped herself to one of the cookies Hanako had brought, taking a polite bite. Regrettably, they were a little crunchy, but what would you expect from a store-bought delicacy? Teruko made no indication of noticing this, chewing ponderously as Hanako explained her background.
“I’m actually from Okinawa,” Teruko said modestly, dipping the teabag into the water to encourage it to diffuse, “But I moved to Tokyo for work. It was quite the culture-shock.”
Okinawan-versus-Mainland Japanese relations were terse-at-best, so Teruko didn’t linger on that factoid for very long.
“Anyways, I lived in Tokyo for almost two decades, and ran another bakery by the same name, there—but as I grow older, city-life is starting to become too hectic for me, so I moved out here.”
It was a very simple story, really, devoid of any reference to her life as a vigilante or her life as an actress. Just how Teruko preferred it.
“Would you believe, Hajimari-san, that I am forty-seven?” she confessed, as if admitting a crime. She smiled, covering her mouth as she looked slyly at the other woman. Teruko’s mutation was such that it really was impossible to tell how old, or how young, she was.

Focus. It was all on her mind. She wanted to look like a functional human being that talked about business, that had her work opposite the road of this one and was just... just a good new friend, maybe? She did not want to be so childish and weak but well, she felt horrible. She quickly picked a tea, without thinking too much about it. Focus on it, grab something she could deal with and talk as if she wasn't dying inside and breaking apart because no one else had to know. She did not have to ruin other people their days because of her own shit behaviour, so she would do focus on the conversation and tell about all the things that happened and how they considered quirk training and so on. The focus of kids and their quirk. "Is it?" She was surprised about the bias comment but shrugged it off, hopefully not offending, because she did not think about it. The whole world set-up was so weird and not everyone accepting, quirks yet so not many thought about the training of kids and learning control. Surely it was linked to vigilantism, but she would not share that with other people for an obvious reason. She nodded and smiled to Teruko. This is a fine conversation, everything would be fine. "Useful to use on my own sprout when he grows up, in case he has a quirk."
After which she explained that she had lived in Tokyo all her life up until last year. Hm, last year. The house had surprised her, the redecorating and the ordering of decoration, furniture and the like, it had been so much fun to get into the house and to be with Gil all the time. Now they were more apart again, not breaking up. It would break her heart to consider that, but she had already broken his heart, she should stay away from him for a bit. Okinawa, that was definitely different, she tilted her head to look at Teruko and wonder if she would tell a little more. A culture-shock. Hm, was she moving here for a business like movies? Hanako was after all at first a reporter, but she wasn't sure if the movie what was it again, was a person or if it was made with CGI on another human being or a lighter mutation quirk. She did not dare to ask, she was always afraid that people would think her racist if she would say she was a quirkless. Hm, G's reaction had been strange back in the day as well, her poor husband.
"I would not believe it." She said with a light tease, trying to seem funny and kind. But besides not being able to see it on the mutation quirker her face, the way she talked and the idea of just herself and running a bakery made it that Hanako had considered them around the same age, yes she had expected Teruko to be around thirty but not around nearly fifty, impressive. "Then you know exactly how to handle your business here, if you already had a bakery like this in Tokyo?" Competition here might even be lower than in the big city.

hello and thanks for all the snacks TERUKO SMILED WARMLY AT HER OWN JOKE, chuckling modestly.
“Mhmm, yes,” she said simply, steepling her plump, taloned hands, “My mutant bias, meaning—a mutant does not need to learn how to control their quirk, because it is always active.”
She meant no harm by it. But perhaps it was too forward of a joke to make with a new acquaintance.
“Apologies.”
Teruko watched the tea steep, giving her teabag a few light tugs as the tea-leaves tinted the water. Soon it would be dark enough to sip.
“Do you have reason to believe your sprout will have a quirk?” Teruko reiterated. Thankfully, Hanako did not seem entirely devoid of humor, for she played-along with Teruko’s remark about “not looking her age”. The kaiju laughed, pinching one of the cookies that Hanako had brought over and munching it politely.
“I think I have the general business practices down, yeah,” Teruko said with a solemn nod, “I’m not so familiar with the population around here, though, so that might affect my sales’ tactics.”
Teruko smiled, removing her teabag from the water and setting it on the saucer, “The shorter hours will be nice, though. Tokyoites never sleep.”
The kaiju raised her teacup to her lips, the teacup looking miniature in her massive hands. A brief silence fell between the two.

[attr="class","grHeaderB"] [attr="class","grBody"]Hanako nodded, there was nothing wrong with being bias, so many people were and well in the case of Teruko, Hana did not find it offensive at all. It was just an experience. She wondered for a second what would happen to her, what her mindset would be if she gave birth to a mutation child. She wasn't sure if she would have behaved nicely, she was obviously naive against her own brain who thought the worst of her. Especially now. "Oh, don't worry. I am interested in quirks and well it's always something to consider as we got the approval for the gym for it." Especially because neither G nor obviously Hanako had a quirk like that. She hoped she did not ruin the conversation for Teruko like that and that it would be okay to talk about it. She did not want the woman to feel bad about her, they had just joked though, so Hanako tried to convince herself it was going fine.[break][break] She thought about it, with Teruko's question, "Hm, I kinda assumed as more people are born with quirks nowadays, that it might be something normal already." Truth be told, biggest part of the civilization was like her; quirkless. But she did not like to talk about it, there were quirks in her family, her sister after all had one. "There are quirks in my family and his father has quite a powerful quirk so if he is anything like his father, he probably would have one." She smiled and her thoughts about Kai calmed her down a little, but she was really not too happy with herself at this point. There was every inch of her trying to not show that to Teruko though and she took a sip of her tea after she thought it cooled off enough for her.[break][break] She nodded rather quickly when Teruko explained she knew the basis and that Tokyo never slept. She knew that from when she lived there and did not spend most of her time in Musutafu, "I bet you pick it up rather quickly." How Musutafu worked and so on, mostly because Hana couldn't give advice a bakery was obviously not the same as a gym, and they had busy hours on probably other times of the day. She swirled her tea around and looked at it, not even immediately noticing that there was a silence between them as she just observed her tea.
