APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
At 183cm Kaito is tall for a Japanese kid. He tends to wear baggy, loose-fitting, clothes of muted or pastel colors. He carries himself with a pensive demeanor, hands usually in his pockets as he daydreams. He also wears a serious face most of the time, even coming across as deadpan when making any sort of a joke. He tends to look people directly in the eye with his -piercing stare like he is looking right through you.
Now that he has grown slightly older he has started to grow some stubble on his face. Another hard year on the streets has made him even more disheveled and gaunt, with mildly dirty and ragged clothes to match his pensive stare. Since he has been entirely homeless since dropping out of school he has had trouble finding food and has even lost a lot of weight. His signature bandana has become stained and stretched.

Personality:
Kaito can be difficult to like. While no one would say he is a bad person he does tend to rub people the wrong way the first time they meet. Most people look at Kaito and see an asshat, at an outward glance you'd assume he hated everyone and everything and couldn't care more for any of the people around him.
In reality, the opposite is true. Kaito cares too much. One too many times has he been burned by his trusting nature, so he tends to keep to himself these days. It takes him a long time to learn to trust anyone and tends to make assumptions based on the first appearance much like others do to him.
When faced with a challenge Kaito tends to mull over his options before acting. While he is usually a quick thinker, anything involving relationships tends to stump him. While he tries his best to keep up a strong face and act tough he really finds himself feeling alone more often than not.
-----
Ever since dropping out of the school at the end of his first year Kaito has taken a more grim approach towards life. He has been back on the streets and homeless by this point a total year and has struggled to make ends meet. This has caused him to become more cynical and protective.

HISTORY
Kaito was born in Shibuya Japan. Raised by his single mother with two older brothers Kaito found that he had a lot of freedom as a kid. With his mother usually working, and his older brothers either busy with school or out causing trouble, Kaito was forced to take care of himself at a young age. When Kaito was 11 his oldest brother was expelled from school after getting caught stealing from people's lockers. Soon Kaito found himself being watched by his brother which really just led to Kaito getting in trouble.
Kaito’s older brother convinced him to assist him with a job he was doing. Kaito’s brother said he worked for a repossession agency and that they needed to repossess a fancy car. Kaito, trusting his big brother, believed the lie and used his then newfound powers to help his brother repossess the car. After the fact, his brother pulled the blinds from his eyes and told Kaito that he had been an accomplice in stealing the car and that if he didn't do as he said he would tell his mother and Kaito would get sent to jail. Backed into a corner the naive Kaito backed down and agreed to help his brother steal more things.
Flash forward to 15. Kaito had been helping his brother for a long time at this point, and despite wishing he could stop he knew he would go to jail if he ever told on his brother, who was now serving time in prison. One day while hanging out at a convenience store with a girl, Kaito’s brother walked in. Surprised, to say the least Kaito knew something bad was going to happen. Sure enough, his brother pulled out a knife and started to rob the teller. Quick as a flash, the cops showed up. One of them pointed a gun at his brother and threatened to shoot if he didn’t drop his knife. Just as his brother started to grab a hostage Kaito got fed up.
Pissed and disillusioned at his brother he stretched himself thin and grabbed the knife from his brother with one elongated hand, and knocked him out with the other. Even though he saved the day the police arrested him and threw him in a cell. They told him he was being charged with unlawful use of a quirk. Kaito sat for a few hours handcuffed to a chair in an interrogation room, even though he knew he could slip out of them until a serious-looking man with a dark suit came into the room. He told Kaito he had two options, either go to Juvie for his crime or go to some crazy school outside Tokyo for kids with special needs like him. Kaito didn’t really get it but he sure didn’t want to go to Juvie so he agreed to go to the school, the caveat being he would have to become a first-year again.
---
At the end of his first year at the school, Kaito was given an option, he could continue his studies at UA or drop out since he had served the term limit of his punishment. Since he didn't really have any desire to be a Hero he decided to drop out and return to his normal life. When he came back home he realized that there wasn't a place for him there either. For the last year, he has been living entirely on the streets, doing odd jobs for food and stealing what he can't find the money to afford.
