"<<A lead, you say?>>" A corpulent man sat in a lavish parlor, all manner of delicacies wasted as they entered his wasteful mouth. And yet, something had come up which interrupted his revelry. A piece of news so important to him, he did not even berate the messenger for interrupting his meal. "<<Yes, boss! As you know, there has been little word of the vagabond group calling themselves 'The Boys' since... Their last sighting, at Pluto's auction. However, your men have mentioned that locals have noticed a significant increase in the number of frogs at a certain pond in Tokyo Park.>>" As the winged supporter spoke of things he already knew, Wang Ba crushed the shell of a shrimp, squeezing it's meat into his cavernous maw. Clearly, he was waiting for his trusted lieutenant to come to the point.
"<<Surely, you have not come to me on a coincidence, Que'er.>>" The girl often acted as though her quirk reached her brain, but she was no fool. If she was coming to him, her knowledge was more concrete than this blather. In fact, he could only wonder for who's benefit she was wasting time with this exposition. "<<Of course not, sir! I took the liberty of sending out a group to investigate. While all seemed normal, when they attempted to capture one of the frogs, Tanaka found himself paralyzed. This is fully in character with what we know of that member of the group, Eduardo Sapo.>>" There, was that so hard?
His reason for wanting to find the boys was simple- The very fact that they had gone so underground since the events at Shinagawa. As a group not known for their caution, this was, in a word... Strange. Completely unexpected. And due to it, rumours aplenty had arisen. That their boss, Savage, had been arrested... Or even killed. While Wang Ba trusted what he saw with his own eyes over any rumour... The evidence was compelling. Enough that he had made finding out the truth a top priority. After all, The Boys were wild and unrestrained... And powerful. Any one of them was a force in their own right. If their head had truly been cut off... If he could not turn them to his side, he must at least use them for his own purposes.
And if it was true that Shinagawa was the heart of their fall, then that would be easier done than said. After all, none stood more squarely in Wang Ba's way than Plutocracy, the very group which had arranged that foul night. If the situation was as the rumours said, a few casual words would be enough to spark the flame of revenge in the hearts of those vagabonds. And if not... The knowledge would be more than worth the trouble. "<<Call Xuan Wu. We leave immediately.>>"
It was rare for the boss to move personally- Such was the priority he placed on this meeting. A trio approached the depths of the park, eyes peeled for a leaf out of place. Behind the fat man stood the woman who had given him the news- Her signature red dress replaced with a more casual outfit which looked less out of place in the park. In front of him, a man with jet black hair, and a stern face. They were Zhu Que and Xuan Wu, two of Wang Ba's most trusted inner circle. If not for the important missions entrusted to the rest, they surely would be here as well. Wang Ba was not a man who liked to take risks- And going to meet the notoriously fickle Boys with only two bodyguards was as risky as it got. But not as risky as sending an underling, who may offend the other.
<<"This is the place?>>" Came the question, as they approached the pond Wang Ba's subordinate had fallen besides. Surely, the area was teeming with frogs. But was Eduardo home? The Chinese crime lord signaled his bodyguards with a glance. Under no circumstances were they to antagonize the fellow villain, should he appear- But should he be violent, they were to protect the boss with their lives.
And the fact that they would do that, was why they were members of his inner circle.
All that was left, was to wait.

...The boys were done... The boys were done!
How could this have happened!? To his knowledge their visit to the auction had been a roaring success! Even he had brought something back! Even if it was just medical supplies... WHY WERE MEDICAL SUPPLIES STORED THERE!? Worst of all, it was Ryung who had brought the marine to them. RYUNG! THE NEWBIE! THE NEW GUY! if there was one good thing that could have come from this situation, it was that Savage couldn't exactly reward the lad when he wasn't around anymore... But that just reminded him that Savage was gone! And Jean, that smart ass second in command, always looking to gut his frogs, had took off like some sort of a tired gnat from a corpse that had stopped smelling! And Ryung, the ONLY fellow vagabond left, smarmy as he was, never actually gave him proper respect!
As you could guess, Eds life had gone downhill very quickly. All that agony and shame he had felt back when trying to steal things from the auction, had been almost a huge precognition about the future of his existence. He had followed a random person, who had trusted his abilities for years, and now he was stuck almost alone in a mostly confusing new country, where he didn't know anyone or anything. He was stuck... His only companions he could trust, were once again his frogs. The only thing he had gained from countless years of hard work, was a canister of this mysterious substance called marine... Substance that was pretty much completely useless in his hands! He had seen it explode a man, yet it was said to be the future of villainy! Oh why did Jean have to leave!? He would have been able to do so much with this!?
Most importantly however, the livelyhood of his most trusted companions, the frogs, and rosita, his longest living frog, were in the greatest danger... The ship wasn't a safe place to be in any longer. All those aquariums and little fish bowls Savage had gotten for him in wait for that safe place for just him and his frogs were now pretty much just a pile of evidence, that could be used to find him! He couldn't defend the boat alone! And with his desperate measures, he had been forced to take all of his frogs, and leave the main hub that he had known for ages...
He would have almost felt sentimental, if he wasn't so scared for his future.
However, for his frogs atleast, he still had a safe place... The nice little lake! Nothing dangerous lived there! Only thing that could hurt his frogs were stupid dogs and cats who didn't know a poisonous toad when they saw one! luckily it was late enough, that he could probably just drop the frogs off to the safety of the pool, and calm them down for a while on his own. Rosita had decided to stick itself on his back like a tiny backpack, and the rest of the frogs were latched onto wherever they could stick... some just followed him, despite problems keeping up.
As he got to the park, he could hear the frogs croaking. This was nothing new... They always were excited to see him. Usually he brought food with him... Man, he couldn't even provide them with that basic need currently... He lowered his pace, as he snorted. He felt guilty like a ragged dog... "I am so sorry little ninos... I just didn't do a good enough job..." He croaked, trying to explain himself...
However, as he listened to the croaking more, He stopped his whimpering. He twisted his head, so his ears faced towards the lake... "Danger, men, fat man, hairy, multiple..." Oh no. There was somebody here! He quickly went onto his stomach against the grass, dropping off other frogs other than Rosita and a special duo... they had received little bit of a special training he was working on before the split... With this little army, he proceeded to quietly shuffle into the park, stealthily trying to get past everything... "Krrrrrrrrrrrr...!" The frogs went quiet, and started to move themselves. almost like making a perimeter to see where the men were... and slowly surrounding them.
And eventually, He could see them. A trio. "Stay still, RRRRIBBIT!" The frogs stood still, but were clearly readying themselves to leap. "Frog hunters!? PETA!? Some gourmet freaks!? Explain yourselves!" Ed had never exactly had very much skill in talking regularly. His frogs were good for torture, but usually the one to do the talking and question was Jean... In this case however, he had seemingly caught them by surprise... his favourite element.

A voice called from the side, sounding like quite the lunatic. Immediately, Xuan Wu's arms raised into a guard, ready to fight anyone who threatened his Boss... And Zhu Que tried to do the same, but was clearly not trained as well. Her wings spread out as though the increased size would be more intimidating... Perhaps when she was called a birdbrain, the insult was meant more literally than it usually was. But humans were smarter than animals, and such a display would impress no one... As such, Wang Ba took it upon himself to step forward. An arm laden with jewelry spread out to the side, placed between his well-intentioned guards and the newly arrived threat.
The large man prided himself on being well informed, and Eduardo's ability's were no secret. The mere fact that the man- And who else could it be- had shown up, likely meant that they were already surrounded. And Wang Ba knew fully well the abilities of that group known as The Boys. As weak as frogs may seem, these ones were beyond his men's capabilities. The only thing between them and an awkward time, was going to be their Boss's silvered tongue. Recognizing his intentions, the two lowered their guards. It was a combination of absolute faith that the boss would be able to solve the problem- And the knowledge that continuing to appear adversarial would be the exact opposite of what their boss desired.
"Eduardo Sapo. You are not an easy man to find." The man would begin. His words held deep meaning- First, that he knew who Eduardo was. That he was specifically searching for him... And, more implied... That being able to find him despite the difficulty, Wang Ba was no simple man himself. "You may rest assured, we mean no harm to your brood." The best lies contained a grain of truth- But better yet, was to not lie at all. Wang Ba truly meant no harm. "Rather, I am grateful to them. After all, were it not for their help, I may never have tracked you down." Okay, so this one was rather more subtle- And was more asking a question. How would Ed feel about the assertion that his own beloved amphibians had betrayed his location? Would he call Wang Ba a liar? Mistake it for being more direct help from the frogs? Or accurately pinpoint the truth- That the help Wang Ba spoke of, was the way their presence tipped off his men on the ground as to the likelihood that the former Boy could be found here.
As he spoke, his arm fell to his side. But to the observant, a ring on his finger glowed- Almost imperceptibly. Should things turn hostile, a barrier could form in an instant- The question then being, if that would be enough to defend against one of The Boys. But it was a gamble he felt he needed to take. That group had not gotten it's reputation for acting spontaneously for nothing- And Wang Ba had no desire to be on the losing end of that tendency. "I've come all the way for the sake of meeting with you. Would you be willing to hear me out?" The man asked solemnly. But to those behind him, that voice full of empathy and concern for Eduardo's situation... Were the whispers of the devil, suggesting to the man that he should make a deal.

Ed still kept his distance... for now, even with his shouts, he didn't want to be seen. It had always been like that with the vagabonds. Savage always running up to the front, being the perfectly sized distraction that he was, Jean providing the ranged barrage that was even more so distracting, and Ryung providing support, while he himself in the background tried to get a frog in to weaken the enemy, so they would not stand chance fighting a bigger and stronger target... a plan that he was used to. A plan that kept himself safe, but forced his frogs to be in the fray, keeping him on his toes. It had worked for a long time, but lately he had been forced to go head on with people alone. And the only thing he had for it before, was the frogs surrounding the target. Last time it had ended with the frogs steam fried... And Ed didn't know what these three could do.
Surprisingly, the three men seemingly just calmed down! What was going on?! "Ribbit?" Quiet croaking commenced, as every single one of the surrounding 8 frogs tried to get a word in... But the chunky man in the middle of them all talked louder than each of them, Seemingly praising him... or atleast he could take it that way. Of course he was sneaky! That's what staying alive demanded! It was starting to become clear, that the man was just trying to make Ed himself lower his guard! "Bah! Why else would hombre like yourself be near this place?!" He immediately tried to counter... and the following sentence felt outright insulting! Ed cringed his teeth, as he almost stood up, shouting "YOU KEEP MY NÍNOS OUTTA THIS, YOU CRRRRROOOK!" One of the frogs outright broke the line hopping forward very angrily, as the others hissed in annoyance at it all!
...Meanwhile, Rosita on eds back proceeded to lick his cheek, and Ed dropped back into the grass like a rock. "Y-y-yes... Stay calm... stay calm... I indeed... have the advantage..." The frogs trusted him... he trusted his frogs... mistakes happen. "Croak, krrrrrruuuu..." The command was heard, and the frog that had broken line backed down, almost in shame. The frog nearest to it gave an angry licksnap near its eye as the others ribbited in surprisingly insulting sounding tone. These things had surprisingly long tongues... And clearly had some personality to them.
The frogs however told him, that the man had lifted his hand... Whilst offering to speak with him. Apparently he had wanted to talk to HIM... and not his frogs... Ed was trembling a little... the frogs on his arms ribbited calmly, whilst Rosita rubbed itself against him. Wh-what would they want from him? Had they heard about Savage and Jean? Did they know he had marine on him? DID THEY WANT IT!? "...Feel free, to speak! I will listen. And consider about answering." After all, he was the one who was able to make decisions like that in this situation. He didn't need to budge if he didn't want to. In fact!
"BUT! If you break the line made by my nínos... CROAK, CRAK CRAK!" The frogs seemingly snapped to attention, and proceeded to sit proper... almost like preparing to jump, or just keeping an eye on them. "They will attack. Understood?!" With that, he made it certain he had the control of the situation to the other side of the conversation as well. "That, and tell me your names! ALL OF THEM!" Maybe he could recognize one, make a connection to the other 'boys' and their talks...

In contrast to the other's shouting, Wang Ba would remain... Almost unnaturally calm. His head slowly shook as he reassured- "I apologize. I meant no insult." Sometimes, it was important to take a step back, in order to take several forward. He would fall silent, allowing the other to speak his piece... As much as he enjoyed the sound of his own voice, a conversation was a collaborative effort. And without needing his intervention, the other soon calmed himself down. The truth was the best calming agent in such a situation- And indeed, on his home turf, Eduardo had every advantage.
"As you wish. This one is Wang Ba, and these two are my followers. Zhuque and Xuanwu." He did not know where Sapo was in the darkness, but still motioned to each companion as he named them. He was certain the former member of The Boys could see him. "Ah, I suppose in the tongue of this land, that would be Suzaku and Genbu." It was as though he would die if he did not say two pointless things for everything that was important. But even such nonsense had a place in getting the other to lessen their distrust.
After all, Wang Ba was not here to get the other to take down their guard- Not physically, anyway. He did not need the other to trust him intimately- Just to believe that what he said was not a pack of lies, and become determined to find out the truth... A truth, which was easy for Wang Ba to distort in his own favor. After all, was it not true that Savage had disappeared, that The Boys had fallen apart, as a direct result of the Shinagawa auction? No amount of guard could deny that truth... Just as it could not be denied that Eduardo had the advantage, just like he said.
"Shinagawa." One word, but one which he expected a strong answer to. "You were there. I was as well." Form a common bond. The basis of negotiation. By revealing that they had both been through the same hell, Wang Ba sought to instill a sense of kinship in the vagabond. But that wasn't all. This wasn't an official meeting. There were no eyes which could fall on him- And even if Eduardo tried to sell him out, it would be easy to dismiss. There was no need to beat around the bush excessively- In fact, if he were to play too many word games, the 'boy' may become agitated once more.
"To be frank, I hope to learn what you, no, what "The Boys," went through, on that fateful night." Okay, so he really would die if he got straight to the point. It was pretty clear. "Savage has disappeared from the face of the earth. Was he arrested? Killed? Or, like Thundershock... Was he kidnapped for the Plutocracy's amusement." His tone changed ever so slightly as he spoke, stressing the third option. Not a degree which seemed notable, but enough to subconsciously make it stand out in the other's mind. The idea that his leader's disappearance was done by that group which had organized the event he disappeared at.
But of course, this was only the case if Eduardo was similarly uninformed of his boss's disappearance. "If there was one person who knew the truth, it could only be you." It was a lie, but a convincing one. "I only seek the truth of what happened that night." And, from that truth, ammunition with which to snipe Pluto from his pedestal... But that part, was not something Eduardo needed to hear. Would the 'boy' know the truth and reveal it? Would he hide it? Or, not knowing, would he fall for the villain's silver tongue? With an expression appropriate for his claim of being a truth seeker, Wang Ba waited for the other's response.

This man was too friendly. Whenever they were this friendly, they usually wanted something. But, for now he was atleast playing along, and Ed went into thought, almost trying to dig through whatever names he remembered the others speaking about. They all had chinese names. Suzaku and Genbu were supposedly some legendary creatures, but that could be just them trying to be tough. Wang ba on the other hand, he was not so sure about. "Alright, Keep going!" For now, Ed just needed to keep an othervise low profile. He didn't want to explain too much, and the more the fat man sung, the easier it got for him.
However, as Shinigawa was mentioned, he became alert again! He licked his face. How did he know he had been there?! Actually, there was one rational answer. "Which one of them told you...!? The Vagabonds have RULES for this stuff!" If this had been any other situation, Ed would have perhaps been happy. Outing ryung and getting on Savages good graces could have been a very succesful way to get in folks good graces. Either that or he could have even been better than Jean. But now that they were gone, it was just a situation of finding out who had snitched! He rubbed his head again... keep calm, keep calm!
Sadly, it seemed like this man wanted to know more about the situation. About Shinigawa. "Well, too bad! We split up there! Went our own ways of dealing with it!" He had the general idea what each of the team had been doing. However, there were some things that were certain. "None of us died that day! Savage wouldn't die when something fun is happening!" Fun for HIM that is... For Ed, he had always been too reckless and pushy. But usually he was very easy to bait to get into whatever they had tried. "That and he is no wuss like you three... He knew how to handle himself..." Even if the frogs could stop him. "We got what we came for from Shinigawa!" Well, technically RYUNG got what they needed... he handled the canister at his hip. That was one thing that was still sort of painful to admit. "The problems came after..."
"KWAK!"
Rositas sudden croak woke him up. "Uh oh... ehehehehehehe..." God, he almost babbled it outloud. "You remind me of Jean in some ways... Such a jerk, but so good at making me babble!" Luckily, he had avoided getting too deep into it. Besides... "You probably know what the good stuff was, don't you?" Ed himself hadn't been in the big meeting, but the results of that meeting had rang through vagabonds in a big way. "Jean wanted it the most." However, he had to ask some questions too. "I wouldn't be surprised if Plutocracy was angry with us after such a child got it in his little mittens." His tone was cocky, yet curious. "Typical vagabond business. Targets on our backs wherever we go..."
...But it still didn't explain why Savage had done what he had done... "Why do you ask? Why do you want to know this? Other than CLEARLY wanting another criminals loot!" He ribbited. And the rest of the army of frogs ribbited with him. It almost sounded like a midnight chorus. "What could they have done to us? I never saw them..." Why would Savage do that? As the primary lookout of the vagabonds, the question of why he did it, and WHO had made him do it, rang in his head. If this guy was like Jean, perhaps he had been able to find out more about Plutocracy than he had in his failures.

Ed was correct, people who were friendly usually wanted something. But to turn it around, if you were being friendly because you wanted something... That was because it worked more often than it didn't. Furthermore, his kindness was not excessive- Enough that the other was certainly aware of it, but not so excessively as to raise the other's guard. Well, raise it further than it would naturally be, on being tracked to his home by a stranger whose intentions were unknown. And his attitude paid dividends. The Frogmother heard him out, despite his initial anger... And while he was soon returned to wrath, the target of his anger was not directed at Wang Ba.
"There is no need to doubt your comrades." Wang Ba would quickly reassure. It was not like him to so readily supply information, but- In his plans, there was a certain reliance on Ed's retaining good feelings for them. If he believed... What was that bird's name again? Anyways, if he believed that a bird had sold him out, why would he care for the current situation of that bird? "I have my sources. The police had a vested interest in knowing who they missed, and..." The man trailed off, glancing at the frogs which surrounded him with obvious sorrow in his face and voice. One unfamiliar with him might even think it was real- But the meaning was more than obvious. The corpses of his frogs, which he had no choice but to leave behind. Knowing the Vagabond's relationship with his creations... Sympathy was the emotion to show.
And it clearly worked. Eduardo sang. Not that it was any important information- The Vagabonds had split up, which made sense. But it did not bring him any closer to the mystery of Savage's vanishment... Nor that of the other companions Eduardo had lost. Well, he had not expected altogether that much. The Frogmother's words told him a few things of importance- That he did not know Savage's fate, and that he remained loyal to his boss. Much like how if he had vanished at such a time, his own comrades would feel it was a part of his plan. A genuine smile rose at the faith of the villain in his leader. Such loyalty was hard to find, and harder to keep. It seemed Savage's disappearance would have further reaching effects than suspected.
But while he received little information on Savage or the rest of The Boys... Eduardo soon slipped a bombshell revelation. They got what they came for. What had anyone gone to Shinagawa for? It was with genuine surprise that the crime boss uttered- "M.A.R.I.N.E?" A rare moment for the famously guarded man. He had been under the impression that all of the substance had been secured by the Heroes... Well, other than Plutocracy's hints at retaining the method for creating the drug. Knowing that the Boys had received a portion was truly a shock. But soon, his face became a guarded mask once more- But would the sudden shift give away that his surprise was genuine? Of course, Wang Ba was more than capable of feigning genuine surprise in the first place, so the point was moot.
"An inauspicious substance. Even its own creator struggles to transport it. Do be careful who you let slip your possession of it to." The man advised. His purpose this night was not MARINE... Nor his purpose any night. It was a product with no future, except to the select few- And hardly worth the price he would pay to obtain it. "However, that is not my purpose. Before now, I was not even aware of your success that night... No, I am sure you do not believe me. But I seek the truth." If Ed believed him, he wouldn't need to ask. Nonetheless, the man insisted. After all, the truth was on his side.
"Thundershock. The vigilante G. Both forces no lesser to Savage in might... And yet, in the dark corners of the web in which Plutocracy crawls, a battle between the two is advertised. Such a match, is that not your own style?" Plutocracy. Ed believed they would be angry at the Vagabonds for their theft, but what Wang Ba suggested was far more sinister. A world in which Plutocracy had set up the heist from the beginning, to remove threats. In which the Vagabonds had been targeted, in order to remove competition for their own cage matches... Or perhaps, even as competitors. It was a grim possibility, for it had the most terrifying thing of all behind it. The truth. Plutocracy had indeed kidnapped Thundershock, and even G. Savage had vanished, as had the vast majority of the boys.
"As one who was caught in the chaos myself... I feel a need to know. What is Pluto's game? And to that end, I ask your help."

"BLEH!" Ed grunted, spitting against the grass, as his head swayed from side to side in frustration. "Police would make sense... Too convenient, but it really would..." As much as he wanted to throw it away as an excuse, as yet another lie made by a criminal trying to butter him up and make him feel as comfortable as possible before being thrown on the pan, he couldn't. "The damn girl! Stupid stupid STUPID girl! I wouldn't surprised if she snitched! I would have snitched the rest of that gang if I knew who they even bloody are!" Those useless, useless idiots. Those guys thought blowing up what they had wanted so much was a good idea! Ed bit his tongue. CONCENTRATE! If the guy got his info from police, they probably had a file on Primula too... "BAH!"
However, as he ranted, he was luckily reminded of the results. "Yes! That! Obviously!" It took his attention to something else. the small distance between them made Ed think wang had just confirmed his assumptions. "The stuff, that even when inserted into a person, either powers their quirk up... Or blows them up! BOTH! are quite handy things to have." Especially for a stealthy frog on the run. People would want the thing... He could sell it! Maybe even buy something big! Or he could get rid of anyone he hated! ANYONE! But he would need to be able to get close enough to stab them with it... and he didn't have the muscle or distraction anymore. Overall, a depressing and frustrating situation to be in. All the power in the world to use it, but no good way to do so without risking his life.
However, Wang bas tone about him needing to be careful about who he told about it, lead to another snap of a nerve. "YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW THAT!?" The frogs once again hissed in unison! "It's... important! Very important!" He trembled. It was like holding a piece of dynamite. But thankfully, Ed was not so strong that he would whisk it around insanely. He knew how to be careful! He handled his friends daily like with silk gloves! "...Nothing more frustrating than having something like that...!" 'and not being able to use it!' He would have said that if Rosita hadn't decided to pinch his lips together with its 'hand'. God, he was a worse wreck than he thought, wasn't he?
However, the guy was searching for the 'truth'. And Ed still didn't know what he meant by that. He started speaking more about this weird plutocracy gang, saying that G and Thundershock were planned to clash at some point. And Ed groaned. "SAVAGES style! If they kill each other, I don't need to worry about things like that, that's the only thing about it." Yet again, one thing he was able to hide. Savage had wanted to fight Mia and G... with Thundershock at his side. Apparently it had made him ecstatic, but it was something they couldn't do. The frog casualties would have been insane... and they had been too...
However, he proceeded to ask his help... And Ed moved a bit closer, like the weirdest prowling lion in the world. "Help? You ask ME for help?" The frogs started ribbiting. Words like 'don't come closer!' 'Careful!' but at this point Ed just had to say it to the mans face. "You really expect me to want to help someone, who is going on a suicide mission?" His lanky body, with slim limbs, was now coming to the trios view. He stood up, lifting his almost too big of a head, with big eyes, full of veins out of lack of sleep, glaring knives at the bearded fatso. "I don't have any muscle. I don't have many friends who would want to join with me. I don't have ANY info on what this bloody gang of yours is." His head tipped to its side... "I've spent YEARS a being a lapdog. And if this thing is as scary as you are making it out to be...!" He lifted his finger to point at them. "We probably wouldn't have been able to do it even with Savage around!" He let his tongue hang out... the frogs were turning their heads to look at him instead. In the dark of the night, the man looked kind of grissly...
"What difference would it make if I joined you?" He spat out. "What do you have that Savage didn't? And do you have ANY plan of action?" For years, Ed had been fed all these glorious stories by Savage. All these shiny promises, about great discoveries, about a safe place just for him, kept him busy with little fish bowls and aquariums, Only to vanish when Ed had hit his own lowest point. He had dedicated his life to this man, and had been thrown away like a rag... "Talk."

Of course it made sense. For once in his life, Wang Ba had spoken the truth. Of course, that wasn't fair. The truth was one of his favorite weapons, after all- It was all in how you used it. But the other's outbursts continued... To be quite informative. A girl? He could only guess who that may have been, unfamiliar with the ongoings in the various corners of the Shinagawa pier. But moreso than that... "If only you knew... Was it?" A sly smile crept onto the man's face. Information was not his forte, of course- He had people to obtain it for him. And he had great faith in those people. "Perhaps I may be of assistance." He suggested rather straightforwardly. Information for information. It would set the Vagabond's mind at ease if this were a transaction, rather than a show of force.
That, and it was good to change the topic. His words had infuriated the foreigner, and as much as he had gleaned by that reaction... It would be convenient if the discussion was focused on cooperation.
"And yet, you told me. Should I be flattered?" The man continued. While it was possible that the other truly mistook Wang Ba for someone who would not use this knowledge against him... No one so naive would have lived so long. But whether the other took his friendly warning to heart... Perhaps he would, or perhaps there would soon be one less villain in Tokyo. It was not Wang Ba's business. He told no lie when he spoke of having no interest in that accursed chemical.
"As a businessman myself, I know this feeling well. A good is only as valuable as the price people will pay for it... Is it not? The issue comes... When they would rather pay that price in your blood." His tone curdled at the end. Clearly, this man was no stranger to unsavory figures believing that they would be able to pay a lower price by force... And once upon a time, they would have been right. "But no price is greater than that of life, I have found." A lighthearted tone, which hinted at the fates of those who attempted to force his hand.
However, despite being a career middleman... Wang Ba did not offer his services at this time. Certainly, he could come up with several who would be quite interested... That mad scientist, for one. And what Lady Ishtar might do with it... However, the risk was too great. He was not yet ready to wage war with Pluto. Nor were his roots so grounded as to compete with the government, whose eyes pried so deeply that even the Plutocracy called the substance a struggle to move. And if neither of those two major players felt comfortable... It only went to show how deep of a pickle Eduardo Sapo was in at the moment.
"I wish you the best of luck." There was no mockery in his words. He truly did hope that Sapo survived his burden... The world would be all the more interesting for it. Any enemy of the Plutocracy... Was a potential friend of his. Whether they knew it or not.
And to prove it, the other drew the exact conclusions Wang Ba lead him towards. That's right. Savage's style. Mere weeks after the man's disappearance, no less... Was it truly benign, or had Plutocracy removed the Vagabond's head such that he would not compete with their own interests? "Yes, precisely that. To be frank, no matter who wins, it is of benefit to me..." And if it was of benefit to him, it would be the same to Pluto. And once more, it must be minded that both Thunder and G had vanished at the same time- In the aftermath of Shinagawa. "Although, I cannot help but think it odd. By all accounts, Thunder had a strong business relationship with Pluto... Why would they discard it so readily?" It was a mere casual muse... But drove home the point. Plutocracy had been targeting specific people, whether those targeted made sense or not. As for the conclusion... He would let Ed draw his own.
But following this, the man's words shocked him, perhaps even more than the mention of MARINE. From the intruder's phrasing of asking for help... The one in his own element read something else into it. While Wang Ba's request had been for information, the other had read it as a request for a stronger cooperation. No, as an offer of recruitment. The corners of his mouth slipped upwards. For the other to read such a fact into his words... The idea of joining Wang Ba's crew was already on his mind. The situation was yet dangerous, but... The possibility of recruiting such a powerful figure. The possible benefits outweighed the risks. And such pointed questions as well. This was no interrogation- It was an interview. If the crime lord could answer those questions to Eduardo's satisfaction... Heh. This was an unexpected chance, and one the man would hardly refuse!
Despite his corpulent appearance, he held his ground as his partner in conversation approached. Heavy lidded eyes met bloodshot ones, as in the background, two figures showed no less concern than the surrounding ribbits. If not for their faith in their boss, and the finger lifted behind his back- The signal to stand down- It was likely that they would immediately fall onto Ed, despite lacking the power to stand up to the other. The other had asked him to talk- And his silvered tongue was the feature Wang Ba was most proud of in the world.
"You misunderstand me. I have no intent to die on this cross." By his confident tone... It was not that he planned to avoid the confrontation, but that he had faith in his ability to win. A bluff? Or did Wang Ba have yet more tricks up his sleeve. "That I yet seek the truth, means that I have no proof of Plutocracy's crimes... However, as I have, others have become suspicious of their movements. With their betrayal of Thundershock, they have made an enemy of the Kobayashi Clan... The influence of Pluto wanes." Plutocracy was indeed scary. A group that could squash him under their hands as easily as a bug. But their arrogance was to become their undoing.
Furthermore, the man's claims reinforced his narrative. Others distrusted Pluto. Even were Ed to refuse in the end... The doubts would remain. He would never be an ally of Plutocracy, and may even hamper them from without. Even as he made his pitch, Wang Ba prepared for rejection. He would not discard his entire night's work for the chance at a powerful aide- As the man himself said, what difference would he make? A successful recruitment was the icing on the cake of creating an enemy for his enemy.
"You have not heard of me for the same reason Pluto has not. I do not play my cards loudly. Of course, my base of operations existing outside the metropolis of Tokyo... Also has its many advantages." He did not specifically state where. He had no reason to trust Eduardo with that information. What mattered was... The implication. That the reason the Vagabonds had not heard of him, was due to his careful planning, and not due to the small size of his operation. "Yet as Pluto's influence wanes... Those who once partnered with them require new supply chains. A position I am uniquely poised to take." He had, after all, mentioned being a businessman. "However, I do not expect Pluto to turn a blind eye to this forever. They are accustomed to their monopoly."
"Muscle, friends. Those are not what I need. When it comes to manpower, I have more than enough. You ask what you can change?" As recruitment had not been his intention, he hardly had prepared reasons. "You do not need to change anything." And yet his words would come as smoothly as a prepared speech. "My path will continue, regardless of your decision." If he did not have a prepared answer, he would not come up with a hollow one. No, what Ed needed was not fake words. He needed assurance that Wang Ba was a force to be reckoned with, even for a group with the power of Plutocracy.
However, the last question Ed had asked was the hardest. Wang Ba could not simply speak of his plans in the open, nor would the Vagabond accept the existence of a plan with no proof. "Here is not the place to speak of plans. Nor do I need you to make a decision on the spot." But, once again, he was not determined to recruit at all costs. "If you are interested, I will naturally arrange a tour of my... Operations. There is no need to take my word. Once you have seen for yourself, you will know whether or not I have the means to support my claims."

Ed licked his eye, before blinking. "Who cares about those criminals... Small timers, not worth even your time probably." He pinched his brow. It was always depressing when the villain had to admit the police were more competent than who they had to work with. But it honestly didn't matter in this regard. Besides, Wang Ba was walking a relatively dangerous road, repeatedly poking at the way Ed had said things. Almost insulting how open he in the end was. "FLATTERED!?" Ed snapped briefly, before Rosita gave a brief lick on his cheek. "Look, senór..." The guy kept talking about fair trade and what not, about how lives were a good price to trade in... and Ed just croaked. The frogs croaked in unison like a salute. "I don't give a diablos rectum about fair trade..." From where Ed came from, they each had their own special skills. Marketing was not one of them.
Seemingly the man did agree, that the big fellows fighting would be an advantage, and not something to stick their nose in. Guess there was something else on his head than hair. "Isn't it obvious? Maybe one side found the other useless... And threw them away like a RAG!" The frogs flinched. Clearly a painful topic still for Ed. "Either that or they couldn't decide how to split the dineros, if you catch my drift..." He huffed. Once again, he was not the one holding these conversations.
The man was not intimidated by Ed getting close. Admittedly, any strong fellow would probably be able to knock him out in one well placed punch, so in this regard, it was almost just a showing of how tired ed was. Panicking around, trying to find safe havens and sources of food... The guy really didn't want to be BULLIED on top of it for it. The explanations about the group get going, Ed drawing his tongue back into his mouth... his eyelids were growing a little bit weary. This person clearly had the voice and excitement for his own speech to make him a fantastic motivational speaker, but for Ed, it was like a teacher blabbering on about a topic that didn't hit him at all. "Yes, yes, you are quiet because you lack the power to fight them..." Ed grumbled. "You don't have enough cojones." Power. Savage had big ones. And the rest of the crew was literally there to handle the things that didn't need those.
However, Wang Ba himself disagreed. Apparently he had all the manpower he needed. Even outright telling him, that Ed wouldn't need to do anything. He didn't have to change or nothing... And Eds head tipped a bit on its side. In the end as he offered to give him a tour of his villainous organization, Ed gave another ribbit, and the frogs started to scatter. Most of them atleast. the ones on him still stayed on, whilst the ones who had emerged from the pool started going back to said pool...
"You do owe me for all I've said... But this Pluto stuff..." He shook his head. "That would just become yet another target on my back, wouldn't it?!"
He was already wanted by the police. add a big ol criminal organization into it, and slowly he would run out of puddles in japan to migrate to. And after that was done, he would be stuck in a trap. with nowhere to go, except either jail or a very painful death for him and his friends. "Common sense would be to stay out of their way. Let them kill each other... and then make your own move, whilst they are recovering. I am not going to give my frog friends lives for yet another war." He walked off very casually, putting his hands into his pockets, as he walked next to the pool of water himself... "All I want, is a quiet life. Where my frogs can do whatever they want, without needing to worry about anything coming in their way. And I don't see how I could fight something big like that off..." Again, manpower was not the issue for Ed either. It was the fact that he had lost quite a lot of them already, and still felt bad about it.

The other man spoke true. They weren't worth his time. What was worth his time was making the offer. However, the other's instability was frustrating to work with, to say the least- One never knew what phrasing would set him off. Or perhaps it was because Wang Ba was so careful with his words that the other mistrusted them so. But like he was cursed, he continued to measure his speech, dodging the triggers as they came. As his subordinates often complained, he might really just die if he spoke straight.
"Indeed, flattered. Trust is not a thing to place easily." At the every least, he rarely did so. Of course, this interpreted the other's confidence that Wang Ba would not be leaving alive should he intend to turn this information to evil as trust that the criminal mastermind would not. However, it is always wise to highlight the outcome which does not end in a painful battle. "It would be unwise of me to return that with evil. Good faith is often more important than any bargain." If he had the faith of the clientelle, he could get away with selling the same product more expensively- Pure profit. And all it took... Was not stabbing people in the back.
At least, not while there was any chance of them finding out.
But the other was clearly uninterested in such theories. "If it were any other than Thunder, I may even be inclined to agree with you... However, how large must they be that the largest Yakuza in the country is a rag to them? To put it bluntly, Pluto does not have that level of influence." If they did, they would have no need to stage a police raid of their own auction. Just take over by force and be done with it.
However, his other suggestion... Was much clearer. For a man of such emotional responses, it was clear that he could think rationally. Wang Ba smiled at the suggestion, but alas, there was little more to say on the matter. "Quite possible. Alas, the truth is known only to them... But the boldness of their move does not change." If they would make a move on Thunder, of all people, why would they leave Savage aside? Such was the thought he hoped to plant.
"Cojones, was it?" The man glared, the first change in his expression. However, he was not altogether deterred by the curse. He had not received the name of Wang Ba for being forthright- "Perhaps you are right. However, baseless bravery is but folly. If I start a war is it I who suffers the most? No, it is my men. Those who placed their faith in me and follow me- And that is precisely why I so strongly desire to know their true intent. Their true strength. And, above all else... Their weaknesses." He attempted to appeal from a separate direction. It was not always possible to convince someone in a single exchange. The trick was to gauge their reaction to each attempt, tailoring the next to those unintentional slips of the tongue, to find out what they want. And then, to offer it to them. At an entirely fair price, of course.
And at some point, his words clearly had an effect. In the dim shadows of the park's lighting, movement could be observed, the encirclement loosening... For now. As such, the man was hardly inclined to disagree with the vagabond's words. "Indeed I do. Learning that you are in possession of MARINE alone is worth quite the sum." He nodded. "But it would seem to be too late to discuss targets. You said it yourself. Pluto wants their product back." He had no way of proving it, but he didn't need to. The entire preposition had come from Ed himself in the first place. All his words would do was feed the paranoia.
"However, to hide a single person... Is not difficult." And so came the clincher. Ed supposed that Wang Ba was too small to be noticed by Pluto. The chinese mastermind insisted that it was due to his concealing his actions. As for which was the truth... Why, he had already offered a tour of operations. He had nothing to hide... From an ally, at least.
Furthermore, the spaniard's thoughts aligned quite well with his own. "Indeed. However, a frontal battle is not the only type of war. To provide support for their enemies, to weaken their allies... There are many ways to interfere indirectly." He reinforced his words. "Fighting is the last thing I would ask of you. Surveillance, security, would be a far greater use of your talents."
A liar would always expect others to lie. As such, Wang Ba doubted that a quiet life was all the other desired... But, given his concerns, it should be at least a part of it. He gestured towards the ring which still encircled him. "Your ability would be most useful in these cases. For the former... They are able to travel through spaces no human could fit. Find an overlooked corner and listen in. Or even simply wait by a bench in the park, impossible to tell from the normal wildlife. And yet, even that is more dangerous than security... And their ability to perform that task. You standing before me is yet the best proof of. But imagine, if it was not you who responded to their call... But instead a team of mercenaries? At no point would your brood be at risk."
It was essentially perfect. Ed himself had talked the expectation down. They would not battle Pluto directly, but sabotage them as others fought properly. And even then, Ed himself would not be responsible for any dangerous work... And security was certainly a concern, when keeping oneself a secret from such an organization as Pluto.

Ed plunged his fingers into the water with a splash. The words Wang Ba was using were like buttering up frog legs. Annoying feeling, but somehow still sweet. Of course, it was bold to say the greatest villain in the country wasn't needed anymore. But Ed had always thought Savage and their own group to be quite scary. Money was probably the more understandable reason. One of the easiest reason for a gang to split up. Although that would mean there was never a relationship in the first place... One of the frogs on his hand proceeded to go for a swim. "If they weren't bold, they wouldn't be villains in the first place..." A sentence that was arguable in its sincerity... Ed had never been bold. He had always needed that safety net. And now he needed his frogs to calm him down more than ever.
However, the man did apparently care for his comrades... Although more in the "They work for me, so they deserve respect" kind of way. "You seem exactly like that sort of person." Fat, sitting on a couch, looking at a television screen on direct feed from their warzone... with other hand in a big bag of chips. Certainly an unflattering image, insulting if said out loud. But in this case, Ed had lowered his guard. He had to be careful with his words. "Do you have faith to stand with em though?" His pupils moved like that of a chameleons to look first towards Wang ba, And then towards his two guards. "Whenever my friends are in the field, I am usually in the field as well... I keep an eye on every single one of em. Try to keep myself and them alive." Rosita turned to glare at the trio.
"Ribbit!"
"GOOD QUESTION!" His eyes opened wide as he blinked in the realization.
However for now the question was left behind, as the conversation continued... and just reminded him of his situation. Ed groaned, his head sinking down, as rosita kept moving its own head a bit confused. Ed pinched his lips... And then Wang Ba dropped a sentence that had ed raising his head once again. Ed had noticed the bait, but clearly, didn't know its intention yet... It was like the fishing line had hit the critical spot. "It is very hard to hide yourself though..." He pinched his head. He was swimming around this tasty morsel inviting him in for now. "A bugger with cash could just buy off the police or something, while I have to do a lot of work to do so."
And for a moment, he was able to dodge the hook. Next question once again was more about their mentalities handling their friends. Indirectly helping folks. This guy seriously implied he didn't know how to do that? "You really think I would have survived this long if I didn't know how to be INDIRECT!? I've always been there when things were happening!" Ed stood up in annoyance. "Honestly, at this point you seem like a bit bigger baby who has his parents do everything for them! And then when those parents die, you just adopt new ones whilst giving the others graves... That's not how a family functions!" He huffed. In his case, after all, he was always the parent. "Just look at these two dads of y-!" Rosita smacked Ed on the nose, making him reel back, with his foot sinking into the pool. "Oh... Oh yeah. You didn't answer Rositas question."
"How much do you yourself go outside and do anything?" Ed pinched his eyes. Calm down. Calm down. The old guy seems nice enough... "If I see a frog die, I weep. But I do not just throw my frogs willy nilly into danger. I am in there with them! It seems like an alright prize to pay for trust. What do you do for it?!" After all... No, no, he was jumping to conclusions. "You look like the sort of guy who only says he cares, and then can easily leave folks behind... I am not that sort of person."

Eyes narrowed at the response. Indeed, without a measure of boldness, one would hardly dare to operate on the underside of society. It was a place where one might lose their life without so much as knowing who they had offended. And yet- "Of course. But there is boldness, and there is boldness without the ability to back it up... And to be frank, at this time, Pluto has bitten off more than he can chew." Implying, of course, that Wang Ba was not prone to such mistakes. If he took a bite, he had the confidence in swallowing it... Whether it was his rivals in the shadows, or even the government above.
More words. More insinuations. A smile rose to Wang Ba's face, as though, rather than insulted by the suggestion, he was glad that Eduardo placed such stock in comradery. "I stand where I must. On the yards of Shinagawa, I stood front and center." He had already mentioned that he was present at that place, so there was no harm in reiterating that. "Que'er did not understand why I needed come in person. But the results showed the truth. Alone, she would have stood no chance." Whether it was the invading police, or the rampaging criminals... No, Zhu Que would have never made it out intact.
"Trust is difficult to find. Having found those I trust, I naturally will not allow them to be lost so easily." He concluded. The other may believe him or not- But it was true. And the best evidence for that was in the loyalty of those who stood behind him- Zhu Que, nodding along with tears in her eyes. An honest face that spoke volumes- That her boss would go such a distance for her, yet that she regretted him feeling the need to. A feeling not unfamiliar to the man who stood next to her. The need for Wang Ba to have accompanied them on this day, was a show of his concern for them... And of his lack of trust that they could handle the situation without him. For all his words of trust... Their abilities meant he could trust their minds, but not their bodies.
While he was curious what question the frog on the Vagabond's shoulder had asked... He chose to listen in patiently instead. Impatience was the fastest path to losses, after all. His words had clearly struck a chord, the other considering how hard it was to hide on his own. And how easy it would be for money to do the same. But one hook was hardly a sale. Hook after hook would be cast, some bitten, and some of those catching... And once enough had sunk in, the patient fisherman could real in his catch.
But quite some patience would be needed, the other hurling uncalled for insults. The two behind his back couldn't hold back any longer. "Why you!" "You dare!" Came the angry voices from behind. They could tolerate a lot. Their boss's insistence on them holding back. His refusal to leave any heavy lifting to them. Following him into a trap with no way out unless Ed allowed them. But if there was one thing they could not tolerate... It was insulting the man they loved and respected!
"You want to know how often the boss goes out in the field!?" Came a shrill voice. The man being spoken of raised an eyebrow... But refrained from speaking. When the question was his treatment of his subordinates... It was the words of those subordinates that held the most weight. "Look in front of you, asshole!" Mentally, Wang Ba sighed at the insult, but... He approved. Was this not the field? He could have simply sent these two on their own, but he came himself. To ensure success. Or, from another viewpoint, to ensure that his trusted lieutenants did not find an early grave.
"You say Boss sends us into danger so that he won't have to? It's the opposite! For Boss to never have to move personally is our dream!" Xuanwu twisted the facts. To them, Wang Ba's working himself was the greatest insult. A feeling Eduardo would never understand. "To say such things without even knowing what the Boss has done..." The raven-haired man cut off before denouncing Eduardo. In the end... This was a person the boss wanted to poach. To say his true feelings, that he did not want him around, would be undermining everything Wang Ba had done so far.
And so, the man being spoken of would return to the forefront. "That is entirely valid," He would reply, as though the previous episode had not happened. "And yet, my men trust me enough to stay behind. I may not earn their trust by sharing the risk as you do, it is true- What I share is the reward. Success. And in turn, they trust me to lead them to that success, whether I am with them, or... As you say, waiting like a baby in his cradle." Ideally, of course, there would be no risk to share in the first place. But unexpected occurrences were inevitable. However, because his schemes worked more than they failed... Because each and every one of his men could feel the profit. That was why Wang Ba had grown so terrifyingly quickly as he had.
