Set forth, O’Noble King, one of many. For as you dine on meat as rich as yourself; A woman in the dark cries in pain, And the end of your reign begins in earnest! Yokohama in the morning was as active as any other Japanese city. Despite the snow, the hustle and bustle of suited men and women, chatting into satellite phones, oblivious of the suffering world around them. School children walk right past a girl their own age without the hope of school or home; thrown from her house for the simple crime of refusing to be someone’s punching bag one more day. She sits in a dry patch of concrete where the frost had not yet encroached, beneath a corrugated steel roof. A warped pot sits beside her with 300 yen and snowflakes inside. She shivers. No matter how closely she holds herself, the cold breaks the skin and crushes her bones. A charitable soul got her several blankets to protect from the worst of the windchill, but the colour is gone from her face and her fingers. And yet the Earth continues to spin. Such is the reality of this cruel world. Death laces icy fingers around the ventricles of her heart - in any other story, a handsome and wealthy prince would pluck her from the street into a warm home with rich food and at least two fluffy puppies. But life is not a fairy tale. No mercy awaits as she seems to drift to sleep. And jolts awake. A dark-skinned woman stands before her, halting the flow of the breeze. The snowflakes in her wavy brown hair and the beauty of her fashionable clothes make her look like a model in the dim morning light. She squinted, trying to make out the features of her face but failing beyond beautiful eyes. She cowered slightly, her mind from suffering the close encounter with the other side. To Narcissa King. The girl would seem a simple homeless teenager. Perfect for the princess' little quest. Rest assured, Miss King, nothing attracts the attention of your target like what you’re about to do.

She was doing this in a way for the greater good. She would have to if she wanted to work on her job. Her job being so difficult lately. She really had to work things out for the better, but for heaven's sake, it should have been easier. Did they not always say that the wrong path was the easy one? Well, they clearly had not seen her life before deciding that. But she had to do this, she wanted to get that partnership with Wang Ba. She still had no idea what it would give her in the greater good that she was trying to get, for her selfish reasons so maybe she should call it Narcissa's goods. But that did not matter for now, if she could get one of the bigger bosses to like and listen to her or reason with her. She might pick up a thing or two and that would only make her grow. Yes, this was necessary and thus she had to bear it and grit her teeth and go on.
So when she was walking around in Yokohama, her canvas bag holding several things she might need today, she hoped she was doing it right. The thing was what did you give people that were freezing in the snow? She had heat packs, that if you flicked the strange metal within the gooey pillow it would turn hard and warm, which was interesting and might heat up some frosty fingers. She stopped, when looking at the girl on the ground. Why did no one care one might wonder. But Narcissa did not, human beings were selfish and only cared about themselves, they might care about others if they got something out of it. That was clear. She hunched down, "Here, you must be cold." She said in a hushed whisper as the girl already seemed to cower because of her being here. She handed the heating pack, "You have to click it, it will turn warm." She showed it and handed it to the girl again. God this was nothing but she had more, she should have brought more blankets but she could not carry all of that on her motorcycle.
She could curse herself, which idiot would drive on a cycle when there was snow? She wanted to ask if the girl was hungry but she refrained herself right in time to do so, "I brought some food, do you want some?" Great, hopefully this worked.

The heat packs were a sight and the girl snatched them from Narcissa. Immediately, she clicked the button within one several times and felt its heat grow in her hands. She mashed it against her face like a cat with catnip, feeling the warm touch the bone behind her gaunt skin. “Thank you…” she whimpered. “Thank you…” This gratitude was something the recent trials of homelessness had instilled in her. And she was rewarded. The warm pad massaged her cold, stiff limbs and she brought it beneath her thick blankets to preserve its heat for her tiny frame. The girl looked up at Narcissa, no longer cowering, the senses returning to her frigid synapses. Hearing ‘food’ brought a glimmer of tears to her eyes. “Yes, please! Anything!”
“Thank you…” she repeated again, quickly chowing down on whatever Narcissa produced. “B-But, I don’t really have anything to give back, ya… know...?” Something in the distance seems to catch her eye and let her sentence trail away. Her eyes squinted behind Narcissa and her lips scrunched with focus. If Narcissa turned in an attempt to check out what the girl was spying, all she’d see is the rest of the wide street of suits and shops. It was as if she were gazing out into nothing.
“I see…” Her frosted hazel eyes returning to Narcissa and her thankful expression swiftly shifting to match the cold air. She continued to eat the food and wiped a crocodile tear from her cheek with a mottled sleeve. “You’re after something. Aren’t you?” she sighed. “I can tell. My quirk.” That’s all the explanation she gave before picking the heating pad again, touching her nose with it, and asking her next question; “So, what do you want from me? Just saying, I don’t swing that way and I sure as hell don’t know anything you might wanna know… not for cheap anyway.”
Finally, she fluttered her long lashes up at Narcissa and spoke with the false sweetness the princess would recognise even if she were deaf.. “After all, I’m just some poor, homeless girl, beaten down by a cruel society!”

She opened her hands, to not get those greasy fingernails over her skin and make it open, god she needed to clean her hands. But nothing on her neutral facial expression showed her disgust. But she was disgusted by the whole setting. She almost thought to bring up the situation at the government, but not for the sake of the goodness of her heart, to get those crippling, dirty people off the street would be so much better for her. Narcissa simply watched, she told herself to keep this neutral expression on her face, she did not want to be betrayed, give the girl a tiny smile, come on Cissy. She gave a soft smile eventually, it took some effort, after all, it helped when the girl said thank you. Yes, be grateful, be loud about it, not a whimper, she needed to get the attention by all means. She suggested the food that she had brought, hopefully no other dirty human being would come to her now, she wouldn't be able to handle more than one. She would give her the wheat cookies with chocolate, not her best but it was easy to carry and well because it was full of grains it was probably filling and better than fast food or so, "Eat slowly." She almost commanded, but she already imagined the girl would vomit over her expensive shoes. She would see.
When the girl her demeanour changed, Narcissa looked over her shoulder, was it...? No there was no one and she turned back. What did she see? Her eyes turned a little bigger, that witch! But she bit the inside of her cheek when the girl said quirk, what? She raised her eyebrow again as the girl continued, not letting Narcissa say a word herself. She stared at her, standing up straight now instead of hunching down. "I don't even know about your quirk, nor do I need to know. I came to help with the little bits I can." She had to be careful, maybe it was a test, after all, the homeless were a fan of Saturn, so they could all spill it. "It's cruel what they do to you and it needs to be changed, people treat you like you are invisible, of course you do not need to pay for what society did to you. I just wish I could do more at the moment but I can't." She took another pack of cookies and gave it to the girl and another heat pad that she clicked on and threw, albeit not that hard, it was more dropping, at the girl her feet, "Put that in your shoes." Although there was barely to speak about shoes, maybe next time she could buy blankets and clothing, shoes? Ugh, she really wished there was no next time.

The girl sneered at Narcissa’s voice. The cookies were good, better than most she’d eaten recently, but the chocolate chips had a sour aftertaste - as all food did when it was given as a bribe. The woman went on a tirade about society, about how it should change. The same tripe any samaritan spouted. She knew what Narcissa wanted. If it wasn’t her body, it was information. With alacrity, the girl whipped an arm out to snatch the cookies from the air and collect them within her little nest, glaring as the heat pack cracked some surface rime. Her nails, unmanicured and cracked, scraped across the frost as she grabbed it, resting a pair of socked feet upon it. She had no shoes. They were the first thing thugs took. Even if she knew these acts of charity were hardly charitable, she’d take everything she could get. “So? What do you want? You can’t possibly expect me to believe you’re doing this out of the goodness of your heart- trust me- altruists come with pamphlets and sermons. Not cookies and heaters.” The girl had quite the tongue. Perhaps that was to distract as a figure navigated the sea of people and approached them. They had awful timing. The girl felt inside her nest for something, the rustle of paper muffled beneath the blankets. As they got closer, she became nervous, looking up at Narcissa. “Whatever it is, I’ll tell you if you get me a hot chocolate from McDolans.” The nearest McDolans was a few streets away. Plenty of time to-
“Rumi?” A woman spoke from behind and beside Narcissa. From so close, her tanned skin - a lighter shade than her own - and her platinum blonde hair were quite striking. She wore a nice, puce winter coat with dark fur lining the hood that some frost had collected within and carried a bag with groceries of some kind within. Earmuffs rested below the ears. Her jeans were weathered, ending in simply flats. Her eyes, golden, turned to look at Narcissa. “Lovely to meet you. I’m a friend of Rumi, here.” The woman had a faint south-asian accent. She held out a gloved hand, a warm but closed smile stretching in the greeting, her grip if Narcissa took it, was firm. ‘Rumi’ kept her eyes down, looking away from both women. “Hi…” It seems the girl had lost her tongue for some reason. “Are those cookies? Who gave those to you?” Rumi gestured to Narcissa and the woman nodded, smiling wider. ”I see! Well that’s very kind of you.” Her accent was clearer now, making its way into well-spoken, well-articulated sentences. “It’s very rare to find one willing to give to those less fortunate.” “She’s looking for something… You could probably help her more than me. I couldn’t care less.” Rumi interjected, glaring at the praise Narcissa was getting. The woman faltered just a little but looked as if she understood where Rumi was going with this.
”Oh, I see… Well, I’m happy to be of service! What are you looking for, exactly?”

Oh by god gracious this girl was ridiculous. Narcissa wanted to tell her that she shouldn't look a gifted horse in the mouth but she wasn't sure how far she could carry this acting on her own. No she was getting tired of it already. But what a snidy remarks the girl made, what a world she was in. She wanted to heave her head and say she worked in the government as advisor to make her believe it was horrible. She almost broke her mask of the small smile that she had, she simply put surprised on it instead of the anger that she felt. She really had the nerve to ask for a specific thing, she just gave her heat and chocolate, the nerve! She wanted to say she would, though not with a happy smile when someone appeared on her right and she would have to stop. She took a deep breath but all in the quiet. "Pleasure." Narcissa said softly as she looked at the woman, she was pretty well dressed and Rumi seemed to be under the impression of this woman and didn't say anything.
She watched the girl point at her and she looked the woman over in the corner of her eye again. "Ah cookies might not be the best food but I thought it might be nice." She started but ended up in mumbling. This woman was something and Narcissa should better reign in her own arrogance if this might lead her to Saturn. She gritted her teeth though when that little snitch said too much, she had not even confirmed it with her. "Oh, ehm well I was working on how to make things better but it seemed that with some people around here in Yokohama, someone was before me and I wondered if I could find that person and see their idea or suggestion." This lie was too far away from what she wanted but she would have to find a way to twist it back to herself. God dammit stupid child, hope you freeze to death.

Perhaps it was her smile. Perhaps the subtle make-up. Perhaps it was the way her eyes seemed to shine like nuggets of gold. But something about this woman almost glistened as Narcissa spoke. “Truly?” She inspected Narcissa closer, looking her outfit up and down. “Looking for the person that was with Rumi last, hm?” The woman giggled a bit behind a dainty hand. “I think I know who you’re talking about!” Rumi shifted uncomfortably, pressing her back against the chilly wall. She and the golden woman shared a swift look, before the latter started to walk away. “Come with me, pet. I’ll take you to who you’re looking for.” She took the first steps and, as she did, turned again with a friendly smile, saying: “You can call me June, by the way! June Greenwall.”
What followed was a long, winding walk through some of Yokohama’s streets. High streets, low streets, backstreets. Through alleys and parks and straight through an entire mall. All the while, June would speak to Narcissa. Asking softball questions, prodding at her reasons. “Why are you looking for this person? What do you hope to do? What’s your name again? How long have you been helping the poor? Have you donated before?” Just some questions to pass the time. The crowds would not only give them the right of way, but their eyes would linger on two women of clear pedigree - their beauty and riches apparent in the way they held themselves amongst the common folk.
Eventually Narcissa was led into a part of the city that grew gradually darker as they went. Stone brick shops traded places with warehouses and corrugated iron catwalks. It was about half an hour and a short climb up the fire escape of one of these warehouses before June finally stopped Narcissa outside a rusty red door. The wintry wind gusted across the high stairs, making June trill and rub her hands together. “Finally… Here we are!” She grinned, offering Narcissa the honours of entering first. Inside was the highest floor of a massive warehouse. The floor was from rattly steel and the room they walked into, compared to the outside, was deeply dark. From over a weak-looking railing with a terrible plummet to the floor of the warehouse proper. Wind whistled below them as June wandered in behind Narcissa. With some intriguing subtleness, the woman turned on a pair of dangling light bulbs. What was revealed was a single folding chair beside a single table, whereupon a brown bottle and pack of cigarettes sat. “So now you’re here~!” Her voice had changed. From kind and warm to… something else. Something dangerous. June walked over to and sat in the folding chair, smirking devilishly. “Just you, me and the cold, now. What is it you want with me, exactly?” She’d seen right through her. This just got complicated.

She had to be very careful, and she was still not good at this whole expectations but she was not going to back down yet. She had promised Death that she would get something out of this for him, the only bad thing was that it meant she would have to work hard for it and she was the one risking her job or more like her life. She definitely needed more people to help her and work with her so she wouldn't make this shitty life even shittier. "Well I th-" But Cissa wasn't able to finish her sentence as the woman giggled and said she would know who Narcissa was looking for and her eyes quickly shifted to Rumi before at the golden eyes of the person. She was definitely something to look at and she wasn't sure what was going on. Her eyes shifted to Rumi too, who had looked at the golden woman and it gave her a disgusting flavour in her mouth, besides being called pet but she had a role to play too. How easy was this, maybe her role had been playing well though and she took a few steps to follow, she was prepared though. "Nice to meet you, miss Greenwall. My name is Primrose Singh." She said with a sweet smile that she could put upon her lips. Yes, she had done her research but Primrose Singh on Fiji had no idea that Narcissa had simply picked her name because it was a flower too.
She had to be aware of where they were going, she was obviously not familiar with the streets of Yokohama and as they were going through all sort of streets, she wasn't sure if she knew what was going on. "Well, I am not sure if she is the right person but there are so many people on the streets of Yokohama." She had to dodge a person that passed her and keep up with June, which was probably a fake name too. She wasn't going to forget a name though, high time to check June Greenwall when back home. "I hope to make a petition or ask the municipal to do more for the people of Yokohama, I think about actually starting something like a soup kitchen or a place where they can at least stay during the cold winter months." She quickly said that June could call her Primrose if that wasn't too bad. Considering her own name was very English, she was sure that dear miss Greenwall wouldn't have too much difficulty with a name as Primrose Singh.
"I am from Fiji, where I have made this project with a couple of other locals. I moved here, and I can't sit still and do nothing. So in Yokohama, I just started and I did not know where to start, I noticed ehm, Rumi, right? And well all I had with me was the heat pads and cookies." She made up for her mistake of not having nutrition. She noticed that after the first person it seemed to be that the route was made clear for them, but the eyes were everywhere. Not to be unexpected when you were trying to find the Plutocracy.
She looked at the fire escape and the climb they made and the door. Okay, she would never have found this. She looked at June with unbelieve in her eyes, she must, after all, look like a random citizen, her smile wavered. She went in before, but she would have to hold on to her heart and looked down at the floor down there. She looked at the chair and the table, great. She should have expected this. She gave a short bow and tried to be a little more meagre, it was not every day you met one of them after all and god she should be fearing for her life. "I am serious, ma'am." But how will she turn the conversation, for fuck sake she should have been more careful. "There are many out there that want to know what will happen to Yokohama as it keeps going down. If you don't mind me saying, it is getting worse then Tokyo and that says a lot. There must be something to do, isn't Yokohama important for you?" Because why else try to save the poor downrodden sods out there.
