feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Ever since Haku disappeared Tome had felt a deep sense of loneliness. It wasn't a foreign feeling for him. He had been an alienated child growing up. Little to no friends and a distant family had made lonesome a common sensation. This was deeper though. He had found a sense of purpose and being in both his new job as a pro-hero and his relationship with his former lover and his adopted child. The lack of half of that whole feeling made the hole in his chest feel deeper.
His mother had passed quietly four months ago, so he couldn't even try and rekindle some sort of relationship with her. Now he was not just a fatherless bastard, he was without any sort of family whatsoever. This was what drove him to try and find out who his father was.
Toma was thankful for his newfound recourses as a Pro-Hero. A little schmoozing and a quick prick on the finger and suddenly a doctor was sequencing his DNA and cross-checking it with samples from a database. At first, he expected nothing. What were the odds that the government had any DNA that matched his in their banks?
Lo and behold, they found a match. The doctor had told him that there was a 95% match to his paternal DNA in their system and surprisingly it was a teenage girl who attended U.A. High. When the doctor showed him a picture of her his head almost did a 360-degree turn.
It was Miku. The daughter G had talked about and shown him pictures of. That didn't make much sense to Toma. There was no way G was his father. The gap in their ages was too short, and he was fairly certain G was a foreigner. For a few days, Toma mulled this around in his mind, thinking about what to do. He kept the paperwork from the doctor and read it routinely while deciding what to do.
Toma's decision finally led him to where he stood right now. In the reception hall of U.A. High. His connections had allowed him access to the school, so getting in touch with the girl wasn't that hard. The hard part was deciding what to say. A receptionist had asked him to wait in the lobby while they asked Miku to come to the front office, but Toma paced anxiously while he waited.

It was a busy day. Not only that, it was G's birthday. Miku who just finished her physics class heard that someone was waiting for her at the reception desk. She dreaded it as she feared it was G himself who wanted Miku home as soon as possible. She took a deep breath and went to the reception desk downstairs... or more correctly the lobby. She was requested to go there
But upon arrival she didnt see G, but just some guy. She looked around to see if there was anyone else because she doubted that this guy needed her. Like why would he? He's a complete and total and utter strainger. But still, there was no one but him in the room, so she had to ask "Um... hello? Did you call for me, sir?" she called out to the man. She was still wondering why would he possibly ask for her. But there was no other way to find out then to just wait for an answer. But what if he wasnt the one? That'd be awkward if she just made a mistake and asked just some guy something that probably didnt make sense to him. "Please dont be that" she thought to herself

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "Hello Miku." Toma tried to give an easy smile, but his stomach was tying itself in knots and he felt a bit queasy. He realized all of a sudden how stupid this was. Not only was this undue stress for the young girl, it would probably make his friend mad at him.
"Yes…. I-uh, I did ask for you to come to the lobby." He held out his left hand to her, offering her a shake. He wasn't much of a traditionalist, never really like the bowing and kowtowing of classic japanese politeness. "This is most likely going to be a weird conversation, so I should probably introduce myself."
"My name is Toma Junji. I am a professional hero, much like you hope to be some day. Though hero work isn't why I'm here." Here came the hard part of the conversation, or really his exposition. "Most people call me by my hero name Vega, but…." He paused for a second searching for the right way to explain things. "You might have heard of me by a different, older name…"
He scratched his head for a second, thinking about what to say or tell her. He wanted to let her know she could trust him, but didn't know who all was listening. Knowledge was a great power, and Toma didn't see all of the other heroes as allies all of the time. After a literal expression of eureka crossed his face he pulled out one of his phones. Not the fancy new one they gave him when he joined the government, but one of the older,, hard to trace ones.
"Give me a second." He asked her to pause as he started typing something out in a blank message field. It didn't take him long before he held up the phone to her, with a simple message.
Your father called me Sunhawk.

He greeted her by name. So that must mean he was the one who called her. And well, his next sentence confirmed it. He offered his hand to shake it. Which she did. Miku gave him a firm and hard handshake as she was taught by G that the tighter the grip the better, that it shows character. Luckily for Toma she wasnt that strong physically. But he could feel she gave the handshake a good squeeze.
The man then introduced himself as Toma Junji, Miku just blinked as that name didnt really mean anything to him. He then intoduced himself by his Pro Hero name Vega, Miku still just blinked confused. Was that Haruuhi's hero at internship? But then he mentioned an older name. Miku waited for him tos peak up, but he just took a phone, told her to give him a mnute as he typed. She still just blinked confused as to what the frick was happening. Thats when she saw the simple message that answered her question
Thats when she had her own eureka as the she had a huge realization
"OOooooooh. You're the one my dad said you pulled and I quote 'a dick move'" Miku said with air quotes at the end

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Boom. She hit him with a low blow immediately. So her dad had done some bitching about him it seemed. That was to be expected though.
"Oh..." Toma sighed, the girl wasn't exactly wrong. "yeah I guess you can say that. Me and the group had philosophical differences but it was kind of a dick move"
"Yeah so... why are you here? Do you need me to get him or something?" Miku asked with a confused look on her face. Of course she wouldn't have any idea why he was really there.
"No. That's not why I'm here." A lump formed in Toma's throat, this was about to be a weird conversation to be sure."I'm actually here about this."He held out a stack of paper neatly stapled together. On the front there was a large header labeled Paternal DNA results. The rest of the front page was filled with scientific techno jargon that even he didn't understand.
When Miku saw the paper her expression changed. She obviously knew more than Toma about what was going on, because she looked more irked at the situation than surprised or confused.
"Yeesss?" She responded like he was asking her a question instead of being asked one her self, which was really what Toma was here for.
"That's a paternal DNA test. I took it because I never knew my dad." Toma rubbed the back of his fluffy head nervously."You were the only match they could find that shared the same DNA. That makes me your brother."

He spoke how the group had philosophical differences. But she didnt understand him, nor did she try to since it was Vigilante business. Instead she asked him the next thing which confused her.
"Yeah so... why are you here? Do you need me to get him or something?"
But no, thats not what he wanted. And for some reason he was very nervous and then said he was here about this. 'This' being a paper. When Miku saw the paper her expression changed into an ungodly irked and annoyed one.
"Yeesss?" She asked in a sorta... mother like tone. As if telling her child to spit it out what it has to say.
"That's a paternal DNA test. I took it because I never knew my dad." Toma rubbed the back of his head nervously. Miku meanwhile took a deep breath and replied "I was afraid you'd say that" in referering to the fact it was a PATERNAL dna test. Then she continued to go straight to the point "I may know who your father is. But I doubt you're going to like it" she said because he said he never knew his dad, and considering he is a Vigilante that became a Pro, she doubted he wanted to hear
Next he said
"You were the only match they could find that shared the same DNA. That makes me your brother." And thus when he said that he was her brother, she quickly corrected him "Half brother.... maybe" Miku didnt wanna accept anyone related to Thunder. Never. The day she does is the day she accepts him as a father

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "I'm a little glad" Toma let loose a long sigh of relief. "I was worried I would be the one the break the 'you are adopted' conversation." He rolled up the report and slipped it into the inner pocket of his sports coat, it wasn't really important anymore. "Half brother is right. That makes you my only living relative, other than whoever our father is."
"I mean... it was kinda obvious I was adopted. Although the story of how that happened isn't one that's for" She pointed around to the school. She was probably right, those kinds of conversations got weird, and were too sensitive for public expose. "Besides, I heard from both dads the same 'you are adopted' story," She said both dads like one of them was a curse. He knew he had to brace himself for whatever she said, but didn't want to look like he was nervous. "Erm... do you wanna know who he is?"
The lump in his throat grew bigger, forcing him to clear his throat a little before he could even respond. "I do." She had a grim look on her face, which was weird. He knew this whole encounter would be tough, but not this tough. He decided his best move was to shrug his shoulders and smile, trying to brighten the mood. "It can't be that bad, can it?"

Toma was glad and let out a sigh of relief when he heard Miku. He was worried he was gonna break the you are adopted conversation. She rolled her eyes when she remembered he was the 3rd in line to deliver that news. Its annoying at this point. When Toma said that made him her brother, she corrected it to half brother, with emphasis on half. And then she spoke how this wasnt her first rodeo in regards to adoption talk "I mean... it was kinda obvious I was adopted. Although the story of how that happened isn't one that's for" She then gestured towards their UA surroundings. The info she had to spill was not suitable for a place crawling with heroes
"Besides, I heard from both dads the same 'you are adopted' story," She said in this sort of way to tell him she went through this a lot and she has had enough of it. But on to the main point, she asked "Erm... do you wanna know who he is?" She needed to know if he wanted to know. Becuase... it was a hard pill to swallow. And she felt as if she was gonna drop a much bigger bombshell than his 'you are adopeted'
She noticed Toma was visibly nervous from the 'hype' as he cleared his throat. The poor man said it cant be that bad can it. Miku just sighed and said as gently as she could "Erm... can we go have a walk? Somewhere away from here. I have a free period now anyway?" She doesnt wanna tell him this in a hero school or anywhere where the general public can hear.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "Sure." Toma was a little concerned with how serious she was taking all this. How bad could it really be? He looked over at the receptionist near the entrance and knew he would have to clear her leaving with him as part of an internship program.
"Hello." He walked over to her and flashed her a smile. "I'm the Pro-Hero Vega." He pulled his wallet out and showed her his license. "Miss Hajimari will be leaving with me for a little while as part of her internship program. If anyone asks where she tells them to contact me."
The receptionist nodded and went back to her computer. She wasn't the least bit concerned which was good. He didn't want anyone thinking the poor girl got kidnapped. The perks of being a Hero and visiting the school was the respect you received from the staff. A lot of them appreciated the work he and his coworkers put in.
Toma started walking over and opened the door for her, waiting for the door to shut behind him before they continued their conversation. "You're not going to drag me off to some dark alley and rob me are you?" He cracked wise and shoved his hands in his pockets as he started walking with her to the parking lot.

Toma got her out of UA since he was a Pro and thus no one would be suspicious that he took her. Once they left UA, Toma joked hat she's not gonna drag him to some dark alley and rob him blind. Miku chuckled at that joke and said "Of course not. Buuut, that might be a good place to tell you. Its best no one knows"
Soon, he walked her to his car, "Ok, well... I think a car is also a good place to talk" she said as she sat in the passenger seat as he opened the door for her. He told her she can even be in the backseat so if she worries he might be suspicious, but Miku wasnt. She trusted Toma even if she never met him before today. Once Toma got in the car and all door were closed and whatnot, it was just the two of em. Toma told her to tell him. And Miku did, in the most blunt and deadpan way possible "Its Thundershock" There was no beating around the bush for that fact. They dillydallied enough prior to coming to this car. He wanted to know and thats what he got. It was Thundershock. Of all people, it had to be him
