She hadn't seen him in a while. Her running partner. Her senpai. Her bro. She'd been so focused on training herself up and the furor of Christmas-time that she felt like she'd neglected to talk to him, like she'd forgotten him. That wasn't true, of course. If anything Kirk had been the motivation to drive her towards this dogged pursuit. She'd gained so much in so little time, turning it into any sort of measurable, tactile progress was struggle now. But through it all she continued to remember the words of Kirk-senpai that first day they'd met on the way to the store, in the rain.
He was the catalyst for all of this; for her evolution. Meeting him as been the true first step, as much if not more so than meeting Red Horn. Declaring her rivalry to the #1 Hero had given her a goal, stated and defined but... Kirk had given her a path to that goal. Probably not intentionally, either. He had just been the best person for Kata to meet at that specific moment to make things abundantly clear. She couldn't just coast through doing the same old things anymore; running, push-ups and basic martial arts. Kata had to learn to be stronger.
The evening was cold, she could see her breath in front of her, even more so as her Quirk warmed her core temperature far beyond what was usual for a body her size. After gifting all of those presents at the Secret Santa event, one delivery in particular had stuck in her mind. She'd given those two gifts to Kirk-senpai, said some vague greetings and then dashed off in an attempt to deliver everyone else's presents. How selfish was that? How terrible of a friend could she have been for not noticing sooner? For not seeing it right there and then? No, she couldn't even give herself that much credit. She had seen it.
And yet she'd done nothing.
No! She was fixing that now! Having rushed back to the dorm and changed, Kata had thrown on her usual Winter clothes and bounded out of the dorm building again, not even saying hello or goodbye to Shouko-chan. This was more important right now. Her Quirk was pushed to it's limit, muscles tensing and flexing as she ran, like flexible springs; she didn't care that she'd probably burn out! Her friend was in need! She'd made a mistake and she was going to put it right! To make things better! To return all he'd done for her!
The snow made her progress much slower and she could feel her muscles burning a little as the cold hurt her Quirk. But it didn't matter right now. All that mattered was finding him, finding out what was wrong, doing her best to help him or at least listen to what was wrong. Her legs hurt. There was so much snow. Why was there so much snow right now? When she needed to go as fast as she could. Why today, of all days? If she just had Yasashi-san with her to help her clear it all again! Suddenly, he let out a sharp gasp.
Something had changed.
Normally she'd have burned out by not but she was still going! Now that she thought about it, she'd done the same the whole day with the presents, she hadn't burned out once! How? Her Quirk was supposed to overload when it reached a certain time threshold... how was she still going? Had... had she gained more stamina? Or maybe her Quirk had gotten more powerful than she realized and this wasn't her full power anymore! Taking a deep breath as she ran, the tympani of her foot crunching against the snow only increased in tempo, her air intake becoming much more controlled and focused. This was faster than she'd ever gone before!
Only by a little bit. From the outside it wouldn't seem much different but Kata it was like a completely no sensation. The strain that had previously been on her muscles melted away and she felt like she could run forever, continue accelerating until she'd hit light speed. The training field loomed ahead and next to it, a small hill aside the tree-line, a singular rather gnarled tree perched atop it's summit. There! If she could get to there she might be able to see where he went with the advantage of height!
Within a few bounds she'd reached the bottom of the hill, letting out a serious of low grunts and shouts as she strained herself to continue running at top speed. She didn't want to waste any time. Every second counted now. Maybe it wasn't such a big deal to Kirk-senpai. Hell, maybe she'd been totally wrong and Kirk was fine. But... ever since fighting Yumi, Kata had become much more aware of the feelings of others. To have noticed that and done nothing... her fists clenched, teeth grit, approaching the summit.
Where had he gone!?

He had done it! He had submitted the papers for his moving to U.A successfully! He was filled with momentary pride of satisfaction, having done something that was honestly much easier than he had thought it would be. And all thanks to a christmas gift! Who'd have thunk?! Honestly, with this motivation boost, he felt like he could do almost anything... Emphasis on almost admittedly. As happy as he was getting it done, He felt like he should take this one successful step at a time. But on the other hand, he still had all this energy to himself. What could he use it on? Well, technically he could clean the house... but at this point it felt sort of pointless since they were moving out of it anyway. What else would do with some cleaning...?
Ah! Of course! The clubhouse! It had been a while since he had cleaned it, for a semi good reason. There was the whole christmas vacation deal, So the club technically wasn't active. Then there was the fact that the football field they used for practice had been pretty much drowned in snow. And sadly Kirk hadn't been able to whip up an effort to get it completely cleaned. And then of course... there was also just the fact that he hadn't been in the mood to do it. With that, it was even more so important, that he just grabbed himself by his non-existant mullet and got himself to work on it. Heck, he had always been easy to distract, as long as he had something to do.
Admittedly, it took most of his time clearing the football field. Even with the snow scoop he had borrowed from the janitor, and his muscles at full power, these big piles of snow were giving him trouble. However, with this positive mindset, he could only think about two things for the moment: GOD all this pushing was warming him up! He probably didn't even need a coat with all this energy! And secondly: GOD, is this a good workout or what for his body overall?! Starting with small amounts and then when it got too big, tipping the weight over to the side, and then starting again from the lighter load. Admittedly, it would have probably been a faster process with some other people to work with, but it was just nice working proper again, after all this depressing stuff he had to go through!
As he finished that, he stabbed the snow scoop into the big snow pile, and then scrubbed his hair under his woolen cap, like some sort of a dog giving himself congratulations. "That, is the hardest part done! Heck yeah! ...Well..." He looked over towards the clubhouse itself... man, this time it actually needed cleaning probably. Heck, had even cleaned that thing yet? He had contemplated just painting over it at some point, but then everybody else would have seen it... He sighed a bit, as he for a moment walked inside to assess what he would need to do...
Only to hear weird noises outside, like bursts of wind launching snow in the air... honestly it had been pretty plain othervise... He walked back out, and saw the hill... and as his eyes lowered down... she could see a familiar girls head behind the big snowpiles he had made. "Kata?!" His face was filled with minor confusion. "You know that we won't be having these big ol meetings till christmas and new years have passed, right?!" He said jokingly. Honestly, he was happy to see her. He hadn't even had a chance to properly thank for her gifts yet. For now, though, the priority was in what the heck she was doing here. He zipped his coat. The heat from the brief snowy workout was running out.

She could hear his voice! But, from where!? She spun around quickly, already half way up the hill, only to suddenly slip and with a loud yelp roll down to the bottom again. Quickly, Kata pushed herself back to her feet, just in time to stop her Quirk burning out immediately, though the cold really wasn't helping her concentrate. She jogged in place as she brushed a bunch of snow off of her jacket and legs, which trembled from the sudden cold but surprisingly held firm somehow. Thankfully, she had packed a bunch of waterproof stuff, so she wasn't getting water-logged from the melting snow.
What was she doing? Oh! Kirk! She blinked a few times, before sprinting over to where she'd heard Kirk's voice, from the club rooms and the football field. Honestly, she was a little embarrassed she hadn't guessed he was in there; what was she expecting, that he'd very sloooowly walked home after doing whatever he had been doing in the classroom buildings? How was she supposed to be a good fighter when she kept making silly mistakes and errors in judgement like this? Maybe she was being too hard on herself, she'd had a long day already, clearly. She managed to maintain her speed over the short distance to her senpai, skidding to a stop in front of Kirk.
"Kirk-senpai! I'm glad I found you! I uh-... Woah, this place is super tidy!" She looked around, blinking as everything seemed to have that comical sparkly-clean look, the field looking in tip-top shape even despite the blizzard from a few days ago. Kata stood there, agape for a moment, taking in just how much work Kirk had done, before blinking and realizing her Quirk was about to burn out again. "Oh oh! Watch this! I can slow myself down now too! I learned it when clearing the snow with Yasashi-san in front of the dorms the other day!" Quickly she began jogging on the spot, getting slower and slower as she managed to bring herself down from full power all the way back down to resting position, a trick she'd only learned how to do very recently too.
"Uh, anyway! You looked a little down today, Kirk-senpai! When I was delivering your present... I noticed but... I was in such a rush to get the next present delivered I didn't ask what was up." Her expression was a little pained, clearly still frustrated and ashamed that she'd even let this happen. She was supposed to be the Hero that inspired and helped everyone she could, if she couldn't even do that for her mentor, one of her closest friends... what kind of Hero was she? What kind of Hero couldn't even save their closest friends?
She raised her head, looking up into Kirk's eyes with that familiar determination and hopefulness that had become her staple. Being not very good at this emotional stuff, it was kinda all she could do. Just like with Yumi-senpai she had to do something and... if she couldn't even do this, if she couldn't even lift the spirits of her friend in need, how could she do it in a real Hero situation? "Did... uh... did you at least like your present? It was a little silly, I know but... I dunno, I'm not very good at presents, y'know? I had the Arts Club print off a really high quality photo but... I-I dunno, maybe getting a photo of yourself isn't the best present, hehe!~" She scratched the back of her head, blushing a little at the thought; was her present just... awful? She'd have to try harder next year!
But with a deep sigh, she continued, that cheeky, bashful expression melting into one that was very much uncharacteristic of young Kata. Sadness. Empathetic sadness but sadness nonetheless... she wanted so bad to know what was going on, why Kirk, the man who had always been a ray of sunshine in the dark to everyone's lives had seemed so distant lately. Granted, he had apparently started this a little before she met him but it had only grown more and more evident since that fateful day in front of the convenience store.
"Kirk-senpai, there's... something wrong, isn't there? Something happened and you're not sure what you should do about it or who you should turn to..." She clenched her fist, looking down at the floor. "I want you to know that whatever happened, whatever's hurting you... you can talk to me, ok?" Her head snapped up, looking him in the eyes again with that determined energy. "You can count on me, Kirk-senpai! Just like Yumi-senpai did! I'm not very good at the whole like... emotional thing and I'm not very smart but... to just leave a friend in need like that would make me a terrible friend and an even worse bro!"

Honestly, just looking at Kata skip across the cleared football field, Looking around herself in excitement, made all that work worth it in many more ways than a workout. What can he say, it just felt awesome to be praised for a job well done! However, she was also excited to show him something of her own. As she proceeded to do her very funky way of cooling down, she sent a lot of the snow that was left on the field flying into the air, like a poofy cloud from an exhaust. Kirk clapped! "Very GOOD, Bro! Can't wait to see if you can keep up with me next time we run, when you don't need to worry so bad about that!" Honestly, the girl was improving at an insane pace for a semi new student. Maybe he should hang out with that Yasashi dude more... Even looking at her with all that winter clothing on just showed how much effort she had put in learning this funky technique. Though last time he himself had roughhoused his own shoes like that, many of his classmates had suggested for him to somehow find a new way to go about it...
Honestly, it would have had him thoughtful for longer, if Kata didn't immediately ask about why he had looked so worried back inside... "...Eh, it's not that big of a deal, really!" With her this excited, he didn't want to worry her too much. Besides... "Had to just deliver some very important papers. Wasn't sure if I had filled them in right, and what not." He rubbed the back of his head a bit awkwardly. Partially cause he was not telling the complete truth... but also cause of a simple fact. "Though I do admit getting a gift was kind of sudden! Now I gotta think up what to get you!" Honestly, he could maybe buy her another sports ball or something. But she could already use any that the sports club had so... would that be redundant?
His hand sank into his pouch for a second as he started spinning the ball he had gotten from her... the can he had unfortunately already thrown to the recycling bin. The picture was one of those gifts, that he was still carrying, and it was clear Kata was a bit awkward about it. "Yeeah, admittedly, I didn't consider myself exactly 'frameable' yet, hehe! But I can tell you it made me feel hell of a lot better than I was feeling before I got it!" This time there was not even a hint of hiding involved. He really had liked the gift a lot in that regard. He walked closer to her, as she explained, that she had printed it JUST for the occasion, leading into him visibly blinking in surprise. "I do hope that club has a similar policy to ours though, you know... free use and all that!" Man, if he had gotten anything fancier, he would have probably flipped... Her current gift had been pretty much perfect for lifting his spirits up a little...
However, when she outright proceeded to ask what was wrong... Kirks smile lowered a little, as he visibly got a bit more awkward, putting his hands in his pocket, just to avoid doing anything awkward with them. Was this just cause he had sat at the stairs? Had Yumi told her something? Or was it that easy to read from him!? "...What do you mean?" It had his mind racing again... Kata was probably one of the people he REALLY didn't want to know about what had happened... Who knows how she would react?
But with all that worry, Kata kept saying things about how he could tell her whatever he wanted! But sadly, what Kata said just made him even more worried, as his hands turned into panicky fists in his pockets... Yumi HAD told her about it!? Kirk gave a look around... And then sighed a bit, as she even proceeded to tell how horrible she would feel if he left him feeling bad. "OKAY. First of all... You didn't leave me in trouble! Whatsoever! You are doing extremely well!" First he felt the need to convince her that his problem wasn't about her. Cause it really wasn't! "I mean... I don't usually get gifts from people other than my grandpa and well... This year my grandpas hospitalized." Then he proceeded to admit what was in those papers. "I am gonna be moving to U.A you see. My grandpas in bad enough condition that he can't stick around. And being around here just makes him feel depressed apparently."
He sighed, As he waved his hand, towards her, turning towards the clubhouse. "May as well do this while finishing off the cleaning. Helps me out a lot too." Although, he had to just make sure about one thing. Was he just worried for no reason? "If you don't mind, what did Yumi tell you?" Honestly, maybe the invitation to clean the building wasn't a good idea... it was making Kirk feel too familiar.

Papers? She wondered what for. Maybe Sports Club stuff? That'd make sense, maybe it was like a member list or something he had to submit every year. But that didn't explain why he'd be so sad about it; unless there weren't as many members of the Sports Club anymore but that seemed unlikely, she still saw a bunch at practice. If Kirk was really worried about that though, she could go on a recruiting spree, she felt like she'd be good at that! Running around convincing people to join in and have fun with sports! She'd done it a few times for her Dad's gym when she was younger. She still remembered the silly mascot costume of a tiger!
"Eh? You seem perfectly frame-able to me, Kirk-senpai! Especially in that moment, it was a moment of triumph, y'know? You deserve to remember and be remembered in that moment!" She was glad it helped him though, especially considering that deep sadness and apprehension she'd seen in him earlier. It made her feel like she'd at least made a difference and hadn't abandoned him there in her excitement. "Free use? U-uh... oops. I should um... I should give them a few hundred yen or something for the trouble, hehe!" Once again, her haste had stabbed her in the back. They'd probably be fine with it but... well, she'd feel bad if she didn't at least pay them for the ink!
His grandpa? She'd remembered him talking about the man during their first meeting, it was why he was going to get the coffee. To think he'd been hospitalized... it brought her back to only a few months ago, when her own grandfather had passed away but even then, she wasn't as close to him as Kirk clearly was to his. Their relationship seemed very similar to Kata and her Dad... if anything were to happen to him she'd-... No, no don't think like that. Nothing was going to go wrong with him, he was as healthy as a horse and even if it did, he'd want her to keep going, to just charge on. That's probably what Kirk's Grandpa wanted for him as well... if she was in his position, could she do that?
"I'm sorry... I-..." She shook her head, smiling but there was a hint of weakness in there, like she had lost a little of that conviction from earlier. For him to be dealing with something so powerful and just... not say anything. She couldn't imagine carrying that kind of weight all this time, especially considering there was clearly something else on top of that. "I'll definitely be glad you're around at the dorms and stuff, as a jogging partner and for training and-... I guess I just wish it had happened under better circumstances, y'know?" That smile became a little stronger, trying to place a hand on his shoulder only to realize it was a little too high up, so gave a playful punch to his arm instead. "You'll be helping Yasashi-san and I clear the snow though, senpai! Hehe!~"
As he turned towards the clubhouse, she followed eagerly, only to stop in her tracks as Kirk asked what Yumi-senpai had told her. Until now she had no real idea what had gone on, only that Darren-senpai had done something to Yumi. But with Kirk being so concerned about what Yumi had told her... all the pieces were starting to click into place. A dark shadow passed over her eyes, her expression turning to a pained grimace, a small sigh escaping her lips before she looked up. "Only that Darren-senpai had hurt her... apparently taken something she was really proud of and twisted it..."
She paused for a moment, taking a second to gather her thoughts, not quite sure how to go about this now that she'd at least figured out the framework of what had gone on. "I-... A lot of the time people down on me, y'know? They see my peppy, happy-go-lucky personality and... just assume I'm some dumb jock but-... I mean, maybe they're right, I do get low test scores but when it comes to my friends I feel like I'm pretty good at figuring stuff out, y'know? In middle school there were a lot of people with problems they just... didn't want to talk about and I got used to spotting when there were problems... and figuring a lot of things out from context..."
A deep breath, looking into her friend's eyes, a sad smile trying to convey that no matter what it was, he really could tell her. He could tell her anything, they were bros. Friends. She'd support him no matter what had happened to him, no matter what mistakes he'd made. "Kirk-senpai... you and Yumi-senpai had a fight, didn't you? And it-... it wasn't just a training fight or an argument... from what she said, it was something a lot more emotional than that." She paused again, letting out a short sigh.
"That's where the hole in the storeroom wall came from, right?"

"Ugh, stop it..." Kirk waved Katas praise off perhaps a bit bluntly compared to his usual energetic demeanor. At this point, with what had happened, he just really didn't feel like he was a good image for the wall. But still well... It was a really good picture. And he felt mean just blunting the excitement she had about it. "In that moment, sure!" A minor correction, which was true atleast. Although when the girl got all worried about paying up for the printing, Kirks eyes opened a bit wider. "N-no no no, no need probably. They won't mind one picture being printed, I am sure of it!" Her giving money for it still felt a bit awkward though... even if it was kind of a poultry sum...
The situation though, started to feel heavier and heavier the more he told Kata... "No apologies needed... just my own family business... Should have actually asked him about it." Just her saying how happy she was about Kirk being in the school with her to hang out with Yasashi and her, made Kirk feel even more awkward. What had Yumi told her?! He was getting a bit more shaky about it too... He really didn't wanna yell. Kata didn't deserve that... And if she did know, she would probably hate him enough that, she... wouldn't have even come here. But then came the brief stab in the gut... She had told her about Darren... So naturally she had told her of him right? But... why was she here if that was the case?
Kirk turned around, to look at her in a little bit scared yet confused face... only to meet a face, that was equally as pained. But for completely different reasons. She proceeded to talk, as Kirk just stood there, trying to take it in, unable to get a word in in fear of disturbing her. Apparently, Kata was feeling like people didn't actually trust her because of how simple she seemed. Yet how she had realized something and... just by the look of her eyes, Kirk felt heartless again. He turned his head away. He didn't want to look her in the eyes in this case... And it felt horrible to do. But, what he wasn't able to do with his eyes... His mouth allowed him to do. "It's not about you." He shook his head, in outright annoyance. "It has nothing to do about you!" Kirk lifted his voice in annoyance. "You are not the problem... I am." He groaned, as he turned to look at the wall she was speaking about.
The wall had been covered. Kirk had called it renovations and ordering the place differently but... In all honesty, it was just a big ruse, to hide the whole situation with Yumi... Kirk walked to the couple of lockers in front of it... and pushed them out of the way. And behind it, there was a big imprint born from the lightning and electricity that had shocked him... it didn't help that the wall had pushed bit outwards, making a bit of light spill in. That and the cold air just whisked at him even harder... "That's completely my fault! Nobody elses!" His tone was exasperated, whole different kind of tired from pushing all the snow. "Me not telling you about it, has nothing to do with me not TRUSTING you!" Fricking, that was yet another bro, he was yelling at...! "It's just... Ugh...!" He threw his hands down. Okay, calm down... lower your voice for once in your life... "I am scared about anybody knowing it..." For multiple reasons too. "School finds out about Yumi attacking me, She is out... All cause of me. School finds out why she exploded at me, I am out... just cause of my stupidity!" He slapped his face...
And on top of all of it... "That and... Who the heck would want to be bros with a guy who can't fricking think for himself and goes for a bro like that!? No wonder she attacked me...!" He still hadn't told the specific reason... but the frustration was evident in everything he did. He couldn't stay still, his hands kept opening and closing into fists, like he just wanted to rant, until he just fell backwards onto one of the benches... "One guy already confronted me about it and... I just don't want more people to act like that against me..." He huffed and puffed. Red shooting him with that had been something, that had completely crushed his thoughts on the matter... some people knew about this... and they definitely hated him for it... "In that regard, I don't blame you if you just wanna leave the club now... That's kind of reasonable..." He crossed his gloved hands, and rubbed them together... He was feeling cold again. "You look up to me and... I do something like this!" Of course... Kata had come after this whole thing. He thought he could keep it unknown, just between him and Yumi! ...but after two encounters like this... it was starting to feel kind of hopeless.

She let him speak but the words were cutting. Not because of anything specifically he was saying to her; insults generally just bounced off of Kata, either from her just outright not understanding them or deciding to counteract negativity with positivity. However, this was very different and difficult. Kirk-senpai, the man she looked up to most in the entire school was acting so unlike himself, so exasperated and scared and paranoid. The cool, calm team leader they'd all come to know and respect had lost that composure and exposed his weakness, the weakness all people had deep down.
The fear of disappointing someone.
Kata shared that fear. Hell, it could even be argued to be her primary motivating factor. She felt like so many people were counting on her to be a good Hero, to be strong and bold and powerful that not being that would in some way let them down; as if every hope they had in the world was resting on her shoulders, including Kirk-senpai's. So the fact that he said it had nothing to do with her was what stung the most. It had everything to do with her. Couldn't he see that? Couldn't he see that seeing one of her closest friends in pain was like holding a burning piece of metal to her flesh? It's not fair... it's just not fair, why can't he see her pain!?
As he moved aside the lockers, Kata stared at the hole while he continued to speak, her face neutral but her thoughts racing. She still had no idea what specifically he did to piss Yumi-senpai off so much but she'd heard enough from the locker rooms since getting here to put together that it was perhaps something to do with romance, perhaps even something sexual. She didn't know how to feel about that; she'd never had a romantic or sexual thought in her life. Yet she knew it was something important to people, something people had quite literally fought and died for is Perry-sensei's history classes were to be believed.
Her expression turned dark as he finished speaking, staring at the floor again with that blank look, brows furrowed a little. Did she look angry? Probably. Confused? Maybe. She wasn't sure what emotion she was trying to portray, she just felt numb, as if he'd struck her across the cheek and her jaw had lost all feeling. She paused like this for a long while just... staring at the floor, then to the hole in the wall.
Then suddenly her gaze turned back to him, burning rage present in those normally bright, happy eyes.
"Who the fuck do you think I am?"
She stopped, letting those words sink in.
"My name is Cross-Fit and I will be the #1 Hero some day. If I abandon my friend after he made a mistake I'd be no better than Darren and I'd have no right in the world to call myself any kind of Hero." A deep breath followed and she considered her next words carefully, until she quickly reached out, snatching him by the front of the shirt and looking deep into his eyes. That rage had not subsided, in fact it had only gotten more intense. "Is that it, huh!? Is that it!? You're just going to give up!? Where's the Kirk in that photograph!? Where is he!?"
She almost snarled at him. How dare he talk down about himself like this! He was a wonderful man! A great friend, an even better team captain! Seeing him vulnerable like this, hurting like this. It just made her angry. Angry at herself for not seeing it sooner. Angry at him for pushing everyone away. Angry for letting it all build up until it all burst forth. Did he not realize they were all here for him? Did he not realize that she'd never abandon him?
Never.
"WHERE'S THE KIRK BLUSTER THAT STOOD RIGHT THE FUCK BACK UP WHENEVER TETSUKO HIT HIM!?"
Kata released his shirt, stepping back as the anger faded, instead her expression returned to that neutral look, a few seconds passing only for it to melt into a gentle, hesitant smile. She felt guilty for getting angry at him but... in some ways she thought it was necessary. He needed to hear just how much she cared; just how much they all cared about him. "None of us would ever walk away from you after making one mistake. Muscle fibers rip and tear so new ones can grow in their place. You know that, Yumi knows that, everyone knows that. It's just accepting it that's the hard part. We've all done things that we didn't like... that we're not proud of, that other people would look down on us for."
She refused to look away from him now, staring him directly in the eyes, wanting him to feel the meaning behind her words, to know just how important what she was saying actually was. Just how important he was. "You thought I'd leave the club? Sorry to disappoint you, senpai... but I ain't going anywhere. Not without you. Did you hurt someone? Yeah. Yeah you did. Did you do something you're not proud of? Totally." Her grin returned, this time not shining with positivity but rather understanding, to show him that she was here, now and forever. She'd become someone he could believe in, just as he had become to her.
"Pick yourself back up and keep playing, Kirk-senpai... we've got a game to win. As a team."

Kirks heart was beating harder than all those times he had ran past his record. In the end, the more you thought about it, the scary part about telling somebody else anything, wasn't the part where you said something. It was action! It could happen just because your mouth was moving at the time, and the emotion was just right. Just like when he was mad and pushed Darren under the bus... But no matter what, He himself didn't fear that part of it. He feared what followed. The part where the person reacted to what they just heard. And as much as he had said, that Kata had nothing to do with it, her reaction to this was probably the most important thing in his head. Would she leave? What would she do? And as he looked at her, he could only see one clear thing.
She didn't exactly look forgiving. She was just glaring at the ground, eventually turning towards the wall... And then snapping towards him, making Kirk flinch, as his back hit against the wall. Her question made him confused. Well... obviously she was his bro! But uh!?
He didn't really have that much time to think about it. As she proceeded to tell him her hero name, and outright said that if she left him behind, he would be no better than Darren... But for Kirk, Darren was the best bro he had. The person he had trusted the most. The person who had gotten him to try this, and in the end, accidentally gotten him into this situation. What did she mean? Was she saying his bro was... but the bombardment continued, and this time, she grabbed him by the shirt, and started shouting at him full force. Was that it? Where was the guy in the picture? Well, technically the guy was right in front of her, but...! Kirks thoughts started racing again. He had a hard time keeping up. It had been almost half a year since! And what had happened during that time?
Where was the Kirk, who had stood up each time Tetsuko had hit him? Was he even here anymore? Would he have been this scared?
As he was let go, Kirk slumped down like a rag against the bench. He said nothing, now just listening to the girl, who had just a moment ago been shaking him like some sort of bad cop, clearly having changed her tone a little. Even smiling. Kirk just kept breathing, stunned, as he tried to gather his thoughts that had been strewn across the floor. She kept talking how everybody would still be friends with this one fuck up of his. How everybody knew that, even Yumi. Muscles rip and tear all the time... She even told him how she would never leave, and she would stick around, whatever he needed her for...
"Th-" Kirk finally started to get a word out again. "That... That I don't doubt." Kata saying it in front of him couldn't have been more convincing proof, that she herself was alright with this. "If I didn't trust you, You wouldn't be my bro." As easy as it sometimes felt taking people in like that to his own social circle, Kirk had always been trusting. If his bro said it to be so... he didn't have a reason to doubt! However, his own eyebrows furrowed downwards, in the slightest bit of annoyance. "But how do you know that everybody else would be fine with this!? How do you know Yumi is fine with this?!" He quickly huffed some air into himself. "They don't know about this wall! They don't know what happened!" Kirks tear ducts kept doing work, as his body straightened up, now outright pointing at her.
"I don't think nearly any of them would forgive me for that!" Kirk gulped... He had to say that better. "I mean, I am really happy that you do but...!" It's not like every one of them would! He shook his head, stretching his arm to instead point at the wall. "If anybody else found out why that's there, who knows! They might spread the word! Get both Yumi AND me in trouble!" He groaned, finally lowering his hand, this time just rubbing the side of his bicep, like he had been punched to it. "Heck, I bet the others already wonder what the heck it's about too, not just you..." Were they too curious about what was up with him? Would he need to explain this to everyone in the sports club!? Yumi was already a difficult enough target... Though he did chuckle weakly. "It's definitely not a fair game, if it is one. Two against like... twelve to convince." He wasn't sure if Darren would be on his side. How long had it been since he had seen him?
