Hayley ran to help take out the final guy, but it was over before she got there. Her feet slowed and she stopped half a foot away from the other girl, who seemed more like a beast now to her than a human. Those were definitely a beast’s eyes glaring back at her.
Hayley maintained a tense stance and raised her fists defensively in case the other girl came at her again, all the while her mind scrambling to try and piece together what had truly just gone down here. Who the hell was this girl? What was her deal? If those masked men were the real source of the alarms, then how was she involved? Was she just a bystander? But if she was, then that meant…
Hayley suddenly wished more than ever that her father was there. He would know what to say, what to do. Then again, if he were there, and this girl really was an innocent bystander, he would have absolutely torn Hayley a new one for laying into her – and she would have deserved it. An image of his disappointed face flashed into her mind with the same sensation of being stabbed in the chest. She visibly recoiled, her taught composure coming undone.
Shit, she had done this all wrong. This was the hero equivalent of a prison guard falling asleep on the ‘open all cells’ button or a ship captain deciding his boat was strong enough to smash through the giant rock ahead; in other words, a massive fuck up. She had attacked an innocent, for God’s sake, like she were a villain. Wounded her. Over nothing. A mistake. Heroes were not supposed to make mistakes.
Her hornets returned to her body. It took all of Hayley’s effort not to grip her head and shake it in horror at her own colossal idiocy. And yet, she reminded herself slowly that this girl had not tried to explain herself as an innocent even when Hayley had been demanding she give up and hand over what she had stolen. It was for that reason she steadied herself.
“You didn’t deny anything,” she said. “If you didn’t cause those alarms to go off then why didn’t you say so?”
At the back of her mind she wondered how much this honestly mattered, though. She could hear her father’s voice telling her she needed to get this girl to a hospital. Although how the hell she would explain herself…

- C'est la vie - " I feel the heat coming off of the blacktop and it makes me want it more " Chest heaving up and down with deep breaths, head swimming in an influx of slowly deteriorating adrenaline, it took a while for Ember to process what the other girl had said. It was rather clear by the way the other girl froze that she wasn't willing to fight anymore, especially since now it was clear that this entire farce was a huge misunderstanding. A gruff breath left the blonde girl as she straightened her posture, the pain in her body intensifying now that the adrenaline coursing through her veins was fading, yet she fought through it. She'd been through worse in the past. Much worse. Jasmine wiped the blood off of her brow, clicking her tongue with some irritation. "Would you have listened to me?" She asked coldly, the color in her eyes reverting to her normal lilac, yet her glare was just as ferocious as it was a minute ago. "Clearly you had no intention of confirming the situation and you just ran in fucking hornets blazing," she spat, making it abundantly clear that she was beyond pissed. Admittedly, the situation might've been less dire if Jasmine had at least tried to say something, but at a certain point she had lost her composure. Sloppy, she thought, annoyed with herself more than anyone else. That didn't mean this girl would get off the hook, though. Technically, she was interfering with hero business, despite the fact that Jasmine wasn't exactly licensed yet. As such, Ember slowly walked up towards Hayley, showing no aggression whatsoever. Even her glare had softened... until she was but an arm's reach from the girl, at which point she used the fact that Hayley was spacing out and hurled her fist back before swinging a volatile haymaker right to her head with every single drop of strength she had left. Hayley was drowning in an ocean of guilt, being pulled down deeper into the depths and not even trying to resist. The currents of shame and self-hatred were overpowering.
She heard the other girl speak then through the heavy cloud of darkness that weighed down on her. Claiming she would not have listened, that she just went in there to fight and nothing else. That made Hayley look up, gaze hardening into a defiant, but still regretful glare. “Don’t tell me what I would and wouldn’t do. You think I wanted to beat up a civilian?”
Never. That went against everything she was supposed to be: a hero. A protector of the innocent. All that her father had raised her to be. Why did he have to have died and left her alone to do this? She clearly could not. They were supposed to have worked together. If he had been there this would not have happened.
The thoughts of her father and how much she had failed him were becoming too much for her. Tears were building up behind her eyes no matter how much she tried to fight them, making her the gladdest she had ever been she had her helmet on. Damn it all. This was –
Something struck her helmet with enough force to crack the visor. She was sent stumbling back, almost falling flat on her ass. Pain and shock rocked her and left her stunned for several seconds.
The other girl was in front of her now, she realised. She had hit her. Her anger blazed, her fists clenched, her teeth bared and she readied to return fire – but stopped herself just in time. She slowly let her tension go. She nodded her head. “Yeah, fine. I deserved that one.”
Even so, some rage still bubbled under Hayley’s surface. God damn it, this was her father’s old motorbike helmet, how dare she – but it was a good visual representation of how Hayley had let her father down. This realisation made her anger simmer down and sadness take over even more.
She turned to the side. “If you’re done, we should probably get you to a doctor or something.”

- C'est la vie - " I feel the heat coming off of the blacktop and it makes me want it more " As soon as her hit connected, Jasmine felt a jolt of pain rock her to her very core, the adrenaline that had kept her afloat having evaporated just seconds before she launched her final attack. She felt her world sink in a haze of dizziness as she fought to stay conscious, hissing quietly. Her body went numb with pain, the many stings that had impaled her finally working their excruciating magic, making her unable to properly hear what the other girl had said. Ember took a few moments as she supported her frame with a hand against a wall, trying her best to stay upright as she attempted to control her breathing and remain conscious. Everything either hurt or was numb. Or both. And it made it difficult for her to stay standing. She would have given anything to sit or lay down, but she knew the moment she attempted to rest she wouldn't be getting back up again for a while. She turned over her shoulder when her mind registered what the other party had said, lilac eyes gazing at the other girl's face through her broken visor. She offered a tired smirk, you fucking deserved that, she thought to herself, a short sense of bitter triumph making her knuckles tingle. Jasmine haphazardly waved her off, "C-can't do that, sadly..." she began with a breath. "I can't be caught using my Quirk outside of Yuuei without explicit permission. That's why I tried to run in the first place." Stumbling a little after having said that, Jasmine leaned against the wall with her shoulder, realizing that her arms were shaking too much to be able to help her, the damage over the course of the fight finally accumulating. In her mind, she was deliberating how far Yuuei was from her location. If she took her time, she could make it before passing out, she reckoned. Nodding to herself, she looked back at the other girl, "I'm pretty sure you'll get in trouble if they find out you attacked me too so..." she coughed, "trying to get me help would probably work against both of us. So how about you try to get the authorities to bag those lowlifes while I take care of myself. What do you say?" Hayley Reid

Hayley, too, ached everywhere. Her head in particular was banging harder than a thrash metal drumbeat. Her muscles felt as though she had run six marathons in a row. None of it compared to how she felt on the inside, however. It was like she had been gouged out and filled up with waste.
Maybe she really was more like her mother. Every inch of her balked at this thought the second it entered her head, and yet she struggled to refute it. Her mother would likely be proud of her for the violence and savagery she had displayed here, a realisation that made her sink even more into herself.
The other girl began to speak, then, drawing her attention back to her. Of course she was from Yuuei. It seemed as though that school was everywhere as of late. As if Hayley needed to be reminded of it any further.
She let the girl finish her suggestion, then slowly shook her head. “If I go near the cops they’ll just try to arrest me regardless of what I say to them.” All because she did not have a ‘hero license’, whatever the hell one of those even was. This would be the part where she would think to herself that she was a hero already, that she did not need a school or a license to be one, but a simple glance at the battered, barely breathing girl before her told her she still had a long way to go.
Not that this mattered nearly as much as the fact the girl was injured and bleeding. Hayley quickly approached the fallen thugs. “I’ll leave these jackasses for them to find, but I can’t just let you stumble back to your fancy school on your own.”
She at least came prepared to tie up thugs for the authorities. She unzipped her jacket and pulled from its spacious inner pocket a coil of thin-but-durable rope. She quickly lashed the thugs’ hands and feet together with deft movements that showed she had done this before. When finished, she turned to where she assumed the other girl was still standing. “They’ll be searching this area, so they’ll find them sooner or later.”

- C'est la vie - " I feel the heat coming off of the blacktop and it makes me want it more " Jasmine was leaning against the wall with her shoulder, too scared to try it with her back. Considering how many hornets decided to leave their mark on her she figured the pain she'd feel would multiply exponentially if she tried, and she was pretty sure enough stupidity had been put on display for one day. Turning the the girl, she couldn't help the dry chuckle that escaped her at what she said, "Yeah, fancy is too true..." she said, agreeing with her. It took Jasmine a few seconds, but soon she was standing upright, having rested enough to keep herself stable, at the very least. With an inquisitive gaze, she watched the other girl. Now that her anger and frustration had dissipated, she could look at the situation a bit more clearly and realize how entirely fucked all of this was. She could see the girl was beating herself up over what happened and it likely came as no surprise that Jaz felt a little bad for her. Sighing, she rubbed the back of her head, hissing when she touched the spot where the thug's elbow had hit. "Okay, I'll admit... this might've been a little less messy if I had at least tried to say something so... yeah, my bad?" Groaning, the blonde did her best to walk up to the other girl and offer her a small smile. "So don't beat yourself up over it, alright? I'm hardly a civilian so we can probably round this up to an occupational hazard. Shit happens, am I right?" "Seriously, though. I can take care of myself. If this can get you arrested you should probably get out of here altogether," she explained, "also... sorry. Y'know. For your helmet." Hayley Reid

Hayley was still deep in her dark haze, but the other girl’s words managed to break through to her. Well, she was not exactly wrong: Hayley would have backed off if she had argued her innocence, which she had not even attempted to do. It did not make Hayley feel all that much better, though. Nothing was going to change the fact she had assaulted an innocent.
She let the other girl talk, listening to her claim she could handle herself. She seemed suddenly brighter, despite her injuries. Enough to make Hayley rethink, that maybe she would get back to her school on her own just fine.
Then she mentioned her helmet. That was a bit of a painful reminder. Hayley reached up to her helmet and lightly touched the cracked visor.
“It was my dad’s,” she said without meaning to.
Not a part of his old costume; just his everyday motorbike riding helmet. It used to have a hole in it for his horn, but she had had that filled in when she decided she was going to wear it as part of her own hero costume. “I don’t know if you ever heard of him, but he was Beetle Battler. He was a great hero.”
Unlike her. She let out a long, weary, exhausted sigh. The hero business was certainly a lot more complex than her father had described.
“My name’s Vespa, by the way,” she added after a moment.
Once again she had to be careful to use her hero name when out on patrol. She was not even sure why she gave it, or why she spoke of her father, but maybe she felt she owed this girl some explanation of who she was after everything.

- C'est la vie - " I feel the heat coming off of the blacktop and it makes me want it more " It was my dad's.
Admittedly, Jaz did feel a little guilty when she heard this. The way she said that sentence alone very clearly communicated that the item was important to her. And while under any other circumstances her lashing out would've been completely acceptable considering how many times she was attacked, this particular situation made her regret damaging it, "Shit. Sorry. I, uhh... I know a place over in Tokyo that might be able to fix it? If that helps?" "Beetle Battler? Where have I... Oh!" It suddenly hit her, "Dude had a horn and stuff, right? Fought some Venom something something villain in Tokyo or something?" She could vaguely recall her seeing stuff about the vigilante-turned-hero on the net, mainly due to certain American forums talking about how a state-born individual was doing good abroad. "I heard he was pretty cool." Jasmine added with a small smile, yet a part of her wished she knew more about her own parents. Couldn't even remember their names, really. Nor how they looked. All she could remember was the faint scream of her mother and the voice of her father telling her to run. But that was a story for another time. "Uh... Ember," Jasmine supplied, slightly surprised the girl gave her Hero name instead of her normal name, but then again in this new type of society something like this would likely become the norm. She made a mental note about how screwed up this introduction had been as the utter ache all throughout her body suddenly reminded her of its existence, making Jasmine's vision quake. She grunted quietly, trying to straighten herself out, "Right, so this meeting's been friendly and heartwarming to say the least, but I really have to go back to the dorms," she said as she slowly backed away from the alley, trying her best to remain stable and hide the fact that she was bordering losing her consciousness. "So yeah, see you on the flipside, Vespa. How about next time you ask a girl out before getting rough, huh?" Flashing her a small grin, Ember disappeared behind the corner. After which she almost collapsed, breathing heavily as she was barely able to remain conscious. She noticed how her presence and weak posture immediately attracted the attention of civilians who hadn't fled when they heard all of the explosions, and she made a mental note to remain hidden as she made her way back to Yuuei. She crossed the street, cursing to herself quietly when she almost tripped on a random trashbag and fell over. "C'est la fucking vie." Hayley Reid

She apologised? Hayley was upset about the cracked visor, but even so, having this girl apologise to her was just weird after everything. Hayley felt as though she ought to have done something to deserve the apology, first.
When the girl suggested a place she knew to fix the helmet, it was even weirder. The girl felt bad for her, after she had stung the ever-loving shit out her. It made no sense. Was this ridiculous amount of compassion what Yuuei was looking for in its potential heroes?
Still, she knew she could not bring part of her vigilante guise to any old repair shop, so she responded with a shrug.
“It’s fine,” she remarked. “I know a guy, too.”
An old acquaintance of her father’s, a former vigilante like him who had retired and opened an auto repair shop after a game-breaking injury. He was aware of her trying to follow in her father’s footsteps, so it was safe to bring Vespa’s helmet to him. She just hoped she would not have to suffer too much of a lecture along the lines of ‘see I warned you this was dangerous you have to be more careful’.
As it turned out, the other girl was familiar with her father. Despite all of Hayley’s negativity, she felt proud that he had made such a name for himself. Any good feelings the girl’s recognition gave her were snuffed out the instant she brought up her father’s clashes with a certain someone else, however.
“Yeah, the Venom Queen,” she said with an uneasy nod, feeling something inside her clench as she uttered the name. His fiercest foe, his bitterest rival, and also her mother. That was not a secret she was going to give out, no matter how much crushing guilt she felt.
Ember. It definitely fit, with all those fiery explosions. Not to mention the temper that came with them, but Hayley was really not one to judge there.
How about next time you ask a girl out before getting rough, huh?
Wait, what? Hayley was left blinking at that, mouth hanging open in a dull ‘uhhhh’ as her naïve mind slowly pieced together what that meant.
“I’m not into girls,” she said, though Ember was already leaving. She raised a hand to her.
What a night. Somewhere deep down, though, Hayley hoped they would meet again.

- Still a lot of posts below the minimum posting count of 200, which have not been counted. Overall though, this thread was much better than your first one, and as such has awarded you both a bit more for length and dedication. The fact that it builds on prior happenings and expands on them helps a little bit too.
