Akio was strolling through Musutafu's shopping district, mostly window shopping but also occasionally going in to check some things out. It had been a while since he'd been down this way, he hadn't even been back to the city since he'd come back from Tokyo after his short break from the school, but now he was back and severely lacking in some supplies for his dorm plus he'd felt like treating himself so here he was walking the shopping district
I don't think I've been down to the district since I came with Miku that one time he thought to himself, he hadn't seen her since he came back, in fact he hadn't really seen anybody since he'd come back to U.A I really need to start getting out more often, the therapist recommended it as well he thought to himself as he continued wandering around the different shops
New Years resolution, get out way more often and just do shit, I should also meet new people, that'd be good too he thought with a smile as he entered a clothing store. He'd been needing a bit of a wardrobe update so what better time than today. He'd move over to the racks of jeans and have a look through to see if there was anything that caught his fancy Man it's always so hard to find my size, they don't really make a lot of clothes for giant people in Japan he thought to himself as he'd continue browsing

Yumi had a pretty busy Christmas period to say the least. With the dance, getting that secret santa gift, more teacher training, more hero training, and working with Kouta to get out a Christmas set of shots for her blog… oi vey she never didn’t have something on her plate, but with that all over and her birthday coming up Yumi had made sure to schedule some free time to finally start getting her house in order. She hadn’t officially moved off campus yet, but at the very least she’d made sure to put the initial payments on the place officially and her mom and dad offered to get a friend in to look at the structure of the place to see what they could do to stop the leaking in the garage and under the bathroom, so all in all everything seemed to be on track.
She was out in musutafu having another look around all the furniture stores, second hand, flee market stuff, antique stores even cause some of their furniture tended to go dead cheap given all the use they tended to see before arriving at the store, and heck even more high end places and bog standard ones incase whoever she got to be her roommate would be willing to chip in for some nicer stuff with her for the open living spaces. She let out a soft sigh through her nose and pulled in her coat tighter around her as she passed by another store where the prices immediately turned her off compared to the actual quality of comfort that was within, moving on along the street.
Her eyes drifted about the crowds, thinking maybe she should get a snack or something at one of the still present Christmas stands when something else caught her attention, blinking a little as she had to make sure she was seeing what she was seeing.
“…Akio?” She’d ask aloud, though perhaps not loud enough to catch his attention but as she became more sure she was seeing who she was seeing, her expression lit up and she’d jog awkwardly through the bustling post-christmas crowd to loop around her old school-mate, grinning wide as she skipped into his line of sight and opening up her arms for him as she presented herself to him openly, wearing fluffy ear muffs, a cap, and a nice warm parka with a scarf to keep herself warm. “Akioooo! Thought it was you!~”

Akio decided to give up on the jeans considering there was nothing in his size he decided to leave and go look for some other stores. As he was walking down the district he was looking down at his phone
Hmmm where to go now he thought to himself while humming, when his concentration on his phone was broken from a voice coming from in front of him, a voice that he immediately recognized. He looked up and lo and behold, there was Yumi standing in front of him, seeing her grinning face made him respond with a grin of his own
"Yumi!" he'd exclaim happily before pulling her into a hug "It's been so long how have you been!" he asked her letting go of her, before adopting a bit of a smirk "Well, according to a certain news article I read about a month ago it seems like you've been doing pretty good on the hero front huh? You know, it was pretty cool to read that and be able to say 'one of those heroes is a friend of mine'," he'd say "But for real aside from that how have you been? How's everyone else in class been? Is Junko-sensei still working you guys hard?" he'd ask, bombarding her with questions, partly because he hadn't seen her for a while and wanted to catch up, but also partly because he hadn't really spoken much to anybody since he'd arrived back so he was a little starved for real human interaction
"Sorry I'm kinda bombarding you aren't I? It's just really good to see a friendly face right now," he'd say with a sheepish chuckle

Feeling much better as Akio definitely recognized her in turn she’d feel far more confident in her memory in that moment, letting out a light squeak as Akio pulled her in for a hug and chuckling away as she squeezed the boy back in a hug for a moment. It was nice to feel a sense of calm with one of her old classmates like this. She’d admittedly been a bit on edge with them all ever since Kirk and Darren…
Well. Nevermind that. No use getting all bothered about when she was seeing Akio again! “Ooooh I’ve been good ya know. As good as can be when ya got the stress of training to be a hero on your shoulders. Made some new friends… kinda got a new job and… oof. I’m pulling extra classes in the hopes of filling a teacher position at the school when I graduate, but all in all I’m surviving pretty well ya know?” She gave a little shrug but held a bright smile. She’d tip her head for a moment when Akio reading about her in a news article, and it took a second to register but Yumi swiftly realized what he was referring to. “Oh er… honestly maybe not my proudest moment. I mean I’m really glad I could save those civilians but it was hardly a pleasant experience and… we’ll leave it there for a first reunion eh?”
Wrapping her arms lightly around herself she’d smirk a little at his playful remark about the bombardment of questions, tipping her head up at him. “Well now it’s my turn to get all the juicy details. What has you walkin’ about? I didn’t really follow any of the rumours about you disappearing so I may need an update on where you got off to the past… god it’s gotta have been like half a year right? At least.”

As Yumi returned the hug Akio couldn't help but let a smile creep across his face, Yumi's attitude was always as energetic as her quirk and lord knows Akio could use some energy. He was happy to hear that she'd been doing well
"A teacher position at the school? That seems like a good fit for you actually," he'd say with a smile "You were always really helpful and approachable, I think you'd make a great teacher,". When the subject of her heroic rescue came up she didn't have quite the reaction Akio was expecting but understood that it might not have been the best situation so he decided to drop the topic. The conversation then turned to him, she asked for his juicy details and what has him around here
"Well I'm coming back to school so I'm just looking for some stuff for my dorm room as well as anything that's peaking my interest, as for why I left," he said before trailing off a bit "To keep it short I wasn't really in the best place around the time I left, mentally that is," he started to explain "There was some stuff I had to deal with and I wasn't really coping all that well so I left to get some help," he finished the brief explanation before perking back up "But now I'm coping and I'm ready to get back into my dream of being a hero with a newfound determination," he said emphatically "As well as a few new tricks quirk wise," he'd add in afterwards.
He was then struck with an idea
"Hey if you're free do you wanna hang out for a bit? I don't have much to do and it'd be good to spend some more time catching up as well, we could grab some food and look around some of the shops?" he suggested deciding to start his new years resolution a little early

Yumi’s eyes widened with a bit of surprise as Akio said the job would be a good fit for her, rubbing the back of her head and ruffling her red hair in the process as she found that a little surprising to hear. Not that he’d be the first person to say it, or even share those reasons, but Yumi’s self paranoia always lead to it being a shocking turn that people saw that in her. “R-really? I mean… I do really wanna do it but I always thought I’d be terrible. I’m not the strictest person, I can ramble… b-but everytime I bring it up everyone just jumps on the chance to tell me how good a choice it’d be! Hahaha!~”
As he explained he was to be coming back to school soon, and his reason for absence had just been a… well, he hinted he’d gotten depressed or something else similar for a while back there, but if the school was signing off for him to return he must be fine. They wouldn’t be letting a mentally afflicted person train to be a super hero afterall…
Not a third time at least.
“Well I’m sorry that came about for you but… hey. I’m glad you got help rather than thinking you could power through? God that feels like an insult or something but…” She let out a nervous chuckle before continuing. “With how Maxi and Nick turned out it’s probably best you take time to look after yourself and sort yourself out rather than just… give in to whatever was wracking around in your head there. Does that make more sense? God I hope it does…”
She shook out her head and peaked her tongue out to add more playfulness to the mood before turning to stand by Akio’s side, smirking nice and bright. “Oh I was just out shopping for furniture myself too. My hobby turned out to be a little profitable so I’m gonna be moving off campus around the start of the new school year… or maybe my birthday if I can move in sooner, but either way, I certainly don’t mind keeping you company Akio.~” She hooked out her arm playfully to her side, but giggled before her could take it whether he tried to or not, ruffling the hair on his head as she shoved him forward a little. “Come on, tell me what you’re looking for so I can keep an eye out.~ Lamp? Desk? Drawers?”

Akio couldn't help but let out a small chuckle when Yumi mentioned what she said sounded like an insult and then elaborate
"I got what you were trying to say, actually seeing what happened to Maxi is the reason I went to seek help, seeing what he did and said made me realize I needed to get help so I didn't go down the wrong path," he explained. Though in typical Yumi fashion she switched back to her bright and cheery self stating she too was out shopping for furniture as she was moving out of the droms as well as mentioning a profitable hobby
"Aww so does that mean I won't be able to have your usual cheeriness and perkiness on tap anymore?" he'd respond playfully. She then would hook her arm out as a fake out before ruffling his head and pushing him onward while asking what he was looking for "I only need a couple of things luckily, I need a new desk, a new desk lamp and I also need to get a new laptop," he said "What about you, what are you looking for? Anything you need help with? Don't hold back on me now, moving into a new place has gotta come with needing a bunch of new stuff right?" he asked as he started walking down the district, keeping an eye out for the things he'd need

“I see… well hey at least you saw the issue before it really hit? That’s kinda commendable really, being able to recognize that sorta flaw and all.” She still worried that kinda seemed like an insult but Akio was level headed enough to see it for what it was. At least it seemed so from how he’d responded a moment ago.
Snickering a little as he commented on her usual chipperness, she shook her head. “Well maybe not the usual brand but I think I’ve still got a lot to go around. I’m just not so… naïve about it, anymore is all. Like, really I’m still the same old Yumi, I’ve just got a better head on my shoulders.” She winked across with a slightly cheeky smile, not meaning to be a bother or anything but that was just genuinely how it felt like it was gonna be for her going forward. She was more mature, calmer, level headed and all that. Wasn’t gonna change who she was but… it was still a change in some way.
As for what she was looking for- “Oh er well… I’m moving into a new place so I’m looking for a little bit of everything. Really I’m mostly window shopping right now but er…” She smirked and decided to be a little playful. “Hey if I need some strong arms to help me move it all when I DO buy it I’ll be sure to give you a call.~” She joked a little before letting out a chuckle and taking it a bit more seriously. “But nah in all seriousness I don’t suppose an extra set of eyes could hurt. Right now I’m trying to hunt down a good work desk. Kinda hard balancing what looks nice and just what seems practical ya know? Like what looks like it’d fit but also would be comfortable to work from.

Akio couldn't help but smile a little at Yumi's comment about it being commendable about him being able to recognize his issues. It was something he'd struggled with for a while but was glad to see that he'd gone about it in the right way, at least in the eyes of one of his peers.
When Yumi would talk about how she still had a lot of chipperness to go around but was more mature about it he nodded
"Yeah I can see that, I mean it's only natural that you'd grow and mature emotionally like that, I'm glad that it doesn't mean we're losing that usual energy you've always had though, it always brightened up the classroom even on the worst of days, though it could drive Junko-sensei crazy at times," he said chuckling a little remembering some of the fun times they'd had in class. He'd also have a slight chuckle when Yumi talked about needing some strong arms to move her stuff when she does buy all of it
"Of course, I mean how could you go wrong with a 2m tall hero in training, I could probably move mountains at this point," he'd say with a small mock flex before finishing his chuckle and joining Yumi in being a bit more serious
"Yeah, it can be hard to find the right one, especially because you might start having doubts after buying it like 'oh man did I get the right one, was that really the right option?'," he'd agree "But yeah I'd be happy to help you out and have a look at some, give a bit of a second opinion if you want one, so where are we going first?" he'd ask

Yumi couldn't help but chuckle at the comment in referance to how crazy she made Junko. Yeah she kinda drove that woman crazy sometimes huh? "I sometimes wonder why they put her in charge of the class when all her students are such opposing forces to her own personality. I mean I think we'd do better having someone like Red Horn in charge of us and Junko can go teach class A with the serious kids like Tetsuko..." A memory flash in Yumi's head, letting out a playful chuckle as it did so and looking across to Akio. "Remember the time I did a big speech at the sports festival? I had this nice, pleasant thing arranged but... god I just got up there and wanted to speak from the heart for my classmates. Junko hated it but... she's a lot more concerned with people taking us seriously than us being ourselves. She has her points and her merits but... that's just not use sometimes right?"
With Sin seeming to be on board with lending her a set of eyes, Yumi gave a warm smile and a chipper nod. "I was just heading into this store here..." She shot her gaze over to a store that had caught her eye before Akio had, gesturing for him to take the lead and head in first before coming up behind him. It was a smaller store than the big warehouse style ikea display stores, but it seemed at least a bit more modern and affordable at the very least.
(up to you if you wanna play out the furniture, think it might be best to just timeskip this to keep momentum going?)
