It wasn't much but he hoped it would please charlie Jisa thought as he was dragging the small tree to her dorm room. It was a small one and not exactly the best but it was all he could afford with what little he had left and he wanted to surprise her for the little Christmas day they had talked about. He tried to be careful as not to bother others or make too much noise with those who were also still in the dorms. Lifting the heft of the tiny tree on his back when hitting the stares and only dragging it when he was on more solid ground away from the steps.
His backpack slung over one of his shoulders as well wearing the usual jogging pants he often did given how his fuzzy body often didn't need much more then that even in winter to stay warm. His bag had a few things in it but most gifts he had given towards teachers and what not had already been delivered in secret. He thought that would be best and a nice gesture. But for now he was just eager to hang out with his friend. IT had been sometime since a holiday had been pleasant for him and he often had no one to hang out with. He didn't like to be a bother either and push into other's plans. So this was truly a exciting and pleasing occasion.
Eventually he'd make it to her door with his bag over his shoulder and tree at his side barely taller then he was. His ears perked to the sky and nose wiggling like one might expect from a exited rabbit. His long tail lightly swaying behind him as his tiny nubby fingers and knuckles reached upward giving the door a very light set of taps smiling up at it waiting with bright brown eyes and a fuzzy lipped grin like someone for once truly pleased for Christmas spirit.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON CHRISTMAS AND CHARLIE HAD A LOVE-HATE RELATIONSHIP. Her birth parents never celebrated it, Chief did until he got killed in cold blood, the American foster homes relied entirely on the generosity of nonprofit organizations, and then… a Buddhist adoptive family whose grasp of Christmas entailed eating at KFC and that was about it. In order to spare herself the disappointment, Charlotte saw fit to keep her expectations low. Do not engage with usual cheerful seasonal celebrations, and spare yourself the disappointment that accompanies them.
That was the plan, anyways.
But you know what they say about the best-laid plans.
Perhaps Charlotte’s favorite desk neighbor and dearest friend had proposed celebrating Christmas together. And even though the two of them were the same age, the wide-eyed haplessness with which Jisatsu had asked totally broadsided Charlie. She’d steeled herself against the season, prepared to be the most miserly Grinch possible, and Jisatsu broke through the façade with twinkling eyes and well-placed, “Please?”
Jun was out God-knew-where for God-knew-how-long, so Charlotte offered her room. And she spent the preceding hour tidying it up, making sure there were no stray panties, and the likes, until she heard a faint knock at the door.
Charlotte roused herself from the wardrobe, where she’d been hurriedly packing things in, and closed the door, padding towards it to open it.
There stood Jisa, dressed sparsely and toting a tree that seemed as tall as he was, and a large bag.
“You look like Santa Claus,” the prawn observed, “All you need is the hat—come in. My room is your room.”
She stepped inside to let Jisa in, holding the door open for him.
“You want… tea? Cocoa? I have an electric kettle now.”
It was the Fujioka’s attempt at a Christmas present, and Charlotte was trying to make the best of it. They wanted to give their adoptive daughter something… pragmatic. And pragmatic, it certainly was.
“How are you?” she inquired, closing the door behind him.

He giggled at her comment of his appearance. His tail swaying lightly behind him in a pleased manner as well from the kind comment. His whiskers wiggling as his puffy cheeks molded along with his grin in shape. "Whoa, that'd be cool! I wish I had a little santa suit! But I already have enough trouble finding close that fit already let alone looking for any sort of costume." He'd say sweetly and lightly joking back her chuckling lightly as well as he did so.
He waddled in of sorts when she allowed him in. Smiling as he did so dragging the tree as best he could as they talked quickly getting to the side of the room and trying to fluff it sorta to make it look as lively as he could. Setting down his bag that had some snacks and gift inside as well as a few decorations. Jisa quickly trying at least start decorating the tree setting the decorations out of the bag first and walking the snacks over to charlie. Some cookies and a few other odds and ends he thought she might like they could enjoy together.
"That's so cool! An electric kettle sounds like it'd come in super handy in the dorms! I'd love some cocoa though. Its one of the best things to enjoy this time of the year. Although I have to sip it or it makes my fuzzy lips all sticky." He'd say smiling warmly at her decorating the tree as best as he could. The tiny thing wasn't the best tree but it played the part that was needed. Jisa looking pleased with it as well as he tried to make it look even better with what few decorations he had able to actually put on it. He hoped she'd like it. "I've been okay... things have sure been quiet and lonely since the holidays started. But today at least is gonna be fun! Can't let the holidays keep us down." He'd say.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON “Dude, you’re in Support Class,” the prawn reminded her diminutive friend, “Momo could probably make you a Santa suit if you asked nice enough.”
She watched as Jisa straightened the branches of the Christmas tree, hanging a few sparse decorations from the branches. It was kind-of cute, to be honest. She thought they were just going to hangout, but it seemed as if he was going all-out on the Christmas experience.
It was enough to send a warm affection flooding into the prawn’s chest. She squinted her eyes slightly—she wasn’t going to cry. She couldn’t cry.
“One cocoa, coming right up,” she said obediently. Her voice was a little phlegmy from the threat of emotions boiled over. She flicked the kettle on, which already had water in it, then went to her wardrobe where the cocoa powder was stashed, retrieving two packages. She also retrieved a half-eaten bag of marshmallows, which she kept close to her chest. Thankfully, Jisatsu seemed busy, which made it easier to sneak them back towards the desk.
“A lot of people go home for Christmas,” the prawn agreed, smiling faintly, “It feels like a uh… ghost dorm. Like a ghost town?”
She tucked the marshmallows behind a stack of books, returning to the wardrobe for two clean mugs and a spoon. These were deposited on the desk. The prawn then took a seat, watching the water in the kettle and waiting for it to start boiling. She rested her head upon her hand.
“It’s been too cold for me to go outside,” she murmured, “Yojin and I are working on a prototype for boots for me, so I can go outside… but my feet have to fit in them.”
Otherwise the prawn was quickly scurrying from the dorms to the main building with plastic bags on her feet, on no shoes at all, and hoping that her feet found no ice patches.

He couldn't help but chuckle at the idea of a santa suit. A bashful grin painting on his face as he waved her off briefly with a small stubby fingered hand. "Now you're just being silly, Besides I'm far to small to be santa! An I don't have the belly for it either!" He'd say in a jesting warm smile and giggle as he patted his fuzzy belly briefly of plush fur almost like a plush toy or a freshly groomed bunny.
He quickly dragged in the little tree and before long had it moderately decorated. The image of it still lacking or looking barely that of an actual Christmas tree. But Jisa seemed to hold a warm smile when looking at it as if the small lack luster thing before him fit him just fine. A under dog Christmas tree for an under dog hero. He seemed almost proud when he turned to Charlie not catching any of her sneaky motions as he was eager for cocoa. Not even so much just for its sweetness he desired but the fact he would be drinking it with a friend on the holidays. These times of year could feel so lonely and make one feel detached from the world. But at the moment things almost felt home like for a time.
"It is almost like a ghost hall! I don't think I've heard much of a peep at all in the halls outside my room in what feels like ages. I'm glad so many can have fun places to go though all the same." He'd say with a warm smile and light sigh as he thought about all their friends that had left who had places to go. Then there were those here who many had little beyond these school walls.
"Wha!~ That sounds super cool! Heated boots would be so cool. An heh I feel your pain somewhat. My big bunny feet make it hard for me to ever have shoes!" He'd say flopping back a bit on his butt where he sat so his feet could stick out in front of him as he sat wiggling his bunny toes briefly as if explaining what he meant and giggling all the while as well like a small boy enjoying Christmas with family.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON THE PRAWN HUFFED, UNABLE TO contain the smile that curled at her mandibles. Okay, so maybe the idea was a little silly. But Jisa would look really cute dressed-up as Santa. And it really was something that costume design portion of Support could manage.
While waiting for the water to boil, the prawn tore open the packets of powdered cocoa, emptying two apiece into the mugs. Regardless of what the packaging said, you needed two packets of cocoa for it to really even taste like anything. When she was certain Jisa wasn't looking, the prawn surreptitiously opened the marshmallow bag and took a furtive handful, emptying some marshmallows into the mugs.
"Not even heated boots, though!" the prawn corrected, "Just boots that fit my feet, and have insulation. Like... normal snow boots."
Jisa had flopped onto her bed, kicking his feet up as he spoke. Charlotte couldn't help herself-- she leaned over, and ran a finger along the instep of one of his feet.
"I bet you don't struggle with cold feet, though, with all that fluff," the prawn teased.
Her assault was hampered by the boiling electric kettle. The prawn sat up again, scooting back towards the desk to switch the kettle off. Charlie poured the water into the prepared mugs, steam roiling up from the cups. Marshmallows bobbed towards the top.
She retrieved a spoon to stir the powder in more thoroughly,
"Here," she said softly, sliding the cup towards the edge of the desk, closer to where Jisa had flopped, "You'll probably want to let it cool a bit."

As they spoke about the misfortune of mutant feet and the problems it gave to only people like them he couldn't help but giggle lightly as such. Snickering as his whiskers seemed to wiggle upon his face and his bunny teeth showing as he chuckled. The talk of their feet causing his bunny toes to wiggle as well as he found it all rather funny. But his body quickly stiffening and wiggling as he giggled a little harder when she touched the soft part of his foot. Chuckling from the light tickle.
"Hey careful! hahaha, They may keep my feet warm but its still rather tickly under all that fuzzy fur. An sure it keeps me warm but ha, Summer is brutal! BRUTAL!" He'd say in light exasperation as if trying to make it sound worse then it was in a friendly conversation of fun. Making light of it all given the weird talk about mutant feet and the comical feeling of the subject.
He held the cup she offered him in both hands blowing on it light in small breaths, But then again given his small frame and likely small lungs he likely only ever had small breaths. But just like a rabbit he breathed quickly often and always had a racing heart. The steam wafting all over as he tried to cool his drink. "It smells so nice, I wanna drink it but not burn my lips." He'd say chuckling wiggling where he sat.
"So beyond the cooooold how have you been Charlie, Been enjoying holiday time?" He'd ask warmly with a tiny smile looking up at his close friend. Like a long time friend or younger sibling looking up at a trusted sibling and friend.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON “Yeah, at least when I shed it’s all at once, and all in one piece,” the prawn said simply. Well, if you could call molting “shedding”. Charlie couldn’t imagine having fur and shedding it. Or having to sweep all of that up. She removed her surgical mask from over her insectoid mouth, yawning just to stretch the cramped muscles of her mouthparts. She then carefully lifted her mug of cocoa, following Jisa’s suit and blowing on the scalding beverage.
“Eh, enjoying the time off,” the prawn said simply, “I’m not big on holidays, really. Never have been. Just another day.”
A pragmatic answer from a pragmatic teen. When you never really celebrated the holidays, they didn’t hold that same kind of wonder for you. All the other kids were receiving gifts and looking at Christmas lights, and waiting for some mythical trespasser—and you were busy running errands for your father-figure?
“And the halls are too quiet,” the prawn continued, “I’ve gotten used to the noise of having neighbors, so when it’s a ghost town like this, it makes me nervous.”
“How about you? You holding up okay?” she asked. Charlie raised the cup to her mouth, testing the temperature of the drink. Still too hot—she winced at the cocoa that splashed into her mouth, and swallowed it a touch painfully, pinching her eyes shut. Tears sprung to the corners of her eyes.
“Ah, careful, it’s still really hot,” the prawn warned, laughing through watering eyes.
Realizing that Jisa may have a less cynical view of the holidays, the prawn cleared her throat, peering down at her friend.
“That said… want to do any holiday things, since we’re here?” she asked, “I know they’ve got some Christmas movies online.”

He listened softly as always with small eager tiny brown eyes and a wiggling bunny nose with whiskers protruding from either side at several points. All the while sipping his drink and wiggling briefly seeming as if he burned his tongue ever so slightly. Blowing rapidly on his drink a few moments after but quick to drink it still seemingly enjoying it. Normally not having it much when he was alone so enjoying this moment with his friend. His fuzzy lips wettened lightly by the chocolatey drink as well as his eyes feeling lightly wettened on the fur under his eyes as well. From only being slightly teared up.
"I kinda like the silence, But for the most part I've been roughly the same my friend." He'd say simply enough. His ears seeming to perk at the idea of christmas movies as well as the gift he had for her in his bag. "There might be some movies stored somewhere in the common room for holidays now. It's been awhile now since the school was open. Maybe some from last year are down there somewhere. Also I have something for you later too!" He'd say with a nervous smile. Still worried or not if she'd like or not what he got her. He wanted to be kind and share a gift with one of his few friends that were still remaining on campus for these holiday seasons.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON WE CAN GO CHECK IT OUT,” the prawn said, at the mention of the Christmas movies that were potentially downstairs, “I know that I’ve got some on Netflix, too… can’t get away from the ads.”
Charlotte finally tried to take a sip of her cocoa, and found it to be a manageable level of warm. She sipped at it, her outer maxillae gripping the cup slightly.
Wordlessly, she reached for her laptop and opened it up. After a few moments, the dark screen powered-on, and the prawn clicked the touchpad, prompting the password dialog to pop-up. Above the password dialog, a picture of a normal shrimp, photoshopped a bright blue.
“I’ll pull Netflix up and we’ll see if anything there strikes our fancy, yeah?” the prawn advised her friend.
She signed-in, hit enter, and waited for the device to wake itself up. It wasn’t long before Charlotte had found her way to her Netflix homepage, the animated (albeit muted) clips of film immediately beginning. She found her way to the Christmas movies, then pushed her chair back from the desk.
“Have a look,” Charlotte said, gesturing to the computer. She was, as a whole, unfamiliar with quite a few of the movies—but maybe Jisa had one that was particularly nostalgic for him? So she would let him choose. The prawn brought her cup to her lips again, and waited for her friend to make his decision.

Jisa sat comfortable his feet wiggling and kicking around lightly excitedly spending the time with a good friend of his. Given his small stature appearing somewhat like a excited child curious and ready for the fun to come from this little outing. Christmas spirit as well making them lightly and all a flutter within. He seemed to give a little wide eyed expression at her private laptop. He didn't have one of his own and used the library computers when he needed to use something other then his phone to get on the web. Most of his cash went into his hero pack and costume gadget workings
"Awesoooooome! Wonder if there are any holiday movies on here good for watching tonight!" He'd say curiously giggling lightly next to her sipping the warm cocoa and letting out a joyful expression of pleasure from each sip. Warming up close to Charlie as they searched trying to find just the perfect movie for the evening for the both of them to enjoy. The Christmas spirit strong between them in its own way. He'd watch and looking through the various selections looking for whatever movie would be just the right option to pick for this Christmas of theirs.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON AS JISA PERUSED THE DIGITAL selection of movies online, the prawn plopped rose from her desk chair, taking her mug of cocoa with her. Good, he was preoccupied—the prawn unlatched the door to her wardrobe, pulling it open just wide enough. It was a mess of clothes—some on hangers, some spooled on the floor around the 3-drawer dresser. On the top shelf, there was a sundry of books, and in particular one noteworthy item—a present, wrapped in simple green paper. Charlotte grabbed the item with one hand, stealing a glance over her shoulder as she did so, and then closed the wardrobe by bumping the door with her hip.
“See anything you like?” the prawn inquired sweetly. She walked over to the bed, cup in one hand, gift in the other, and sank into it. They’d probably sit together on her bed to watch the movie, as was customary for their get-together’s in the past.
If and when Jisa had chosen a movie, Charlotte would hold up the package, which fit into the palm of her hand.
“I got this for you,” the prawn said simply, holding the package at arm’s length. The statement was rather straightforward and unceremonious, and the prawn’s gaze cut towards the door to her room as she admitted getting her diminutive friend a present. A trace of embarrassment, maybe?

It had been going nice and relaxing like as Jisa clicked through the various digital films. Seeing several ideas that popped up from modern action or adventure films to of course the holiday movies that had obviously appeal this time of year. Various Christmas films that ranged from truly classic to the modern rehash. A few that were from when he was a child reminded him of the Christmas's that were just him and his mother in his childhood. A few seemed interesting as he clicked a few of those. Holiday cheer and amusement seemed rather enticing to keep away the holiday jitters or blues. Picking one that looked rather cheery and that hadn't aged poorly he sat comfortable waiting for his large caring friend to rejoin him with excited wiggling whiskers. "This one might be fun, A little cheesy but a good Christmas tale for sure." He said with kind and cheerful gusto as his ears perked lightly as well when she came back over.
He took a package in one hand and briefly rummaged through is own bag as well after a moment of excited wide eyed glee. "Oooooh, Is this a present! I'm so excited, If so one sec." He'd say as his free hand pulled from his bag that had held treats also held a wrapped but limp package as if cloth of some kind was likely inside. Something soft but Jisa had wrapped in wrapping paper as best he could not seeming to think to put whatever it was in a box. "I got this for you! I knew we planned to hang out so I hope you like it. I tried to think really hard on what you might like." While his budget was extremely low he hoped she'd still enjoy what he had gotten for her as he waited likely preparing to open his holiday gift just as soon as she began to open hers as well as he smiled a toothy fuzzy lipped grin with wiggling whiskers.

JISA IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON CHARLOTTE RETRIEVED HER PACKAGE without a hitch, and waited as Jisa surveyed the choices upon the screen. When he finally decided on one, and turned to face the prawn, Charlie cracked a smile. Jisa took the package into his own, fluffy hands, but he waited to open it, proffering a package of his own.
Charlotte accepted the offering, cradling it reverently in her massive hands. It was a soft package, and the prawn squeezed it experimentally. Kinda like Charlotte’s.
“Is it okay if I open this?” she asked. A cultural thing that Charlotte’s parents had taught her was that it wasn’t always polite to open packages in front of the people who gave them, ergo the request.
“You can open mine,” Charlotte insisted.
The prawn opened the gift by tracing her fingers along the seams, breaking the tape. After carefully undoing Jisa’s wrapping job, she unveiled his present.
Within, an ushanka hat—fur-lined and decorated in a multicolor geometric fabric on the outside. The prawn turned the hat over in her hands, tears pricking at the corner of her eyes.
“Jisa… it’s so cute… thank you so much.”
She lowered her antennae, carefully pulling the hat on over her head. It… actually fit her head. And it was warm.
“How do I look?” the prawn asked her friend.

"Yes of course please do!" He chuckled when she put on the hat on hear head moments after opening it. Allot of Jisa's worries quickly fading when he was glad to see it seemed to fit. He had been worried he may have misjudged the size and had sat at the place he got for nearly half and hour just comparing sizes until he found the one he thought and hoped had been the perfect pick for this holiday gift and gesture to one his most dearest friends. He wanted to make sure he did it right and got just the right thing. When she was pleased to receive it he couldn't help but place his small fuzzy hands to his cheeks and briefly giggle with a giddy grin as his ears and whiskers wiggled lightly from the excitement running through him. His fur even taking on that plush appearance it did when he was in high spirits. "I'm so glad! I was so worried it wouldn't fit! I'm glad you like it." He said giggling softly to himself for a couple moments. "An yes you look positively amazing in it." He said giving her a small stubby fuzzy fingered thumbs up with a wiggling nose and gusto.
Of course it was only moments after he quickly went to open his own gift super excited to open a Christmas gift again. His little heart all a flutter as he did and small hands opened the gift to see what was inside as his dark eyes sparkled with excitement and curiosity all the while. He smiled and wiggled where he sat holding the scarf high holding to his cheek a moment later seemingly enjoying the material it was made out of letting out a rabbit like purr as he did so. "Charlie it's amazing this is so cool. I don't normally where shirts and jackets cause of my fur. But his scar is awesome and won't be as over bearing as a sweater is. This is really cool thank you." Tossing it on and around his neck quickly like a quickly wrapped scarf would be put on. "Now how do 'I' Look." He said chuckling offering a goofy pose as if he was jokingly mimicking a fashion model briefly with his hands on his hips and ears perked to the ceiling.
