So damn sweet You choke on all the sugar
Ah, shoot, what was the name of the place? It was one of those words she had a hard time saying aloud and remembering how to spell it was annoying. "Moo--moo-sou-tofu? Musu...tufu...?" Byeol-Su grumbled it a few more times, trying and failing to get the "uu" and "oo" sounds where they were supposed to go before she pouted, giving up. Stupid other town.
Hearing she was doing a movie in the heart of the city was so cool, Byeol-Su totally forgot about the mochi for a bit. How amazing would it be to be in a movie?! She never could, obviously, and he wouldn't want her to be even if she could--I can already see his face, heheheh, he'd be so confused--but if she could visit it that would be so cool. She wanted to ask so many things. So she did! "What is it like being in movies? Are the camera really, really big? Do you need to put makeup on your fur?" Byeol-Su pressed her hand against her cheek, the "flesh" melding together a little, proving a point. "Wish I could wear make-up sometimes, but skin is too gooey to do it. Can you say what movie is about? OH! Is it a new Animal Rescue Team???"
A pause, then, suddenly, she was holding out both hands, like she was saying "STOP". "Wait! If it is do not say anything! No spoils! Spoilers?"
But exchanging numbers with somebody...wow, not only would that be her getting the phone number of an actual movie star, but was it the first time she had given her phone number to somebody else? Usually the only people she needed to contact were in the chat, and the only ones who had her actual phone number to call her were--
Oh. Will I even be able to give her the number...?
Was it blocked? No, no that would look too suspicious too easily, if it were. If she ever got caught or something by a police or hero and needed to act like a little girl to get away, her being unable to say a phone number might be bad. So it had to be unblocked. Right?...right?
She couldn't remember.
All the same she couldn't pass up this chance. "Yes! That would be so cool and I promise I would not share it. I do not have anyone to share it with," she giggled. Honey cut the sakura mochi in half next, and Byeol-Su took the half meant for her off her plate and gave it a bite. Huh, it...smelled more than it tasted? There was a faint cherry flavor, and it didn't taste bad, but it was more like her nose was suddenly full of the smell of cherry blossoms. That was so weird! She pulled the mochi until it stretched again before she bit it, head tilted in contemplation as she chewed. "It...tastes...like the smell of flowers?? How does that work??" The ice-cream, though, was totally just cherry-flavored. Or strawberry. Or...some kind of fruit. Maybe?

How is it that I've fallen in love with you? How can it hurt this much? Never before have I ever wanted someone this much. If I say I miss you about a thousand times, will it reach you? If I try crying and fussing, will you know my feelings?
● waiting, waiting... i fall asleep She looked at Mana-chan, no idea what she exactly meant or was talking about, so she remained quiet for the time being to see if her friend would keep up with the conversation until she realized she was saying Musutafu. "Oh there are a few there? That's great, I am close to there some times." She remembered right on time not to talk about her hero school moments when people knew her acting moments, so that was that and vice versa. She was good doing it but she wasn't sure how she would be able to keep up with it. "I mean, you mean Musutafu right?" She asked Mana-chan to be a hundred per cent sure that she did not misunderstand her new friend. Honey focused on the mochi, moving her legs back and forth and enjoying the time here and the just in general happiness that she felt. Her mother wouldn't come here and she could run back to school rather rapidly when this was over, but she hoped it would remain a bit longer. She looked up when they continued talking about her work and she folded her fingers together, propped her elbows on the table and leaned on her hands with her chin. "Hmmm." She said first when considering the questions that Mana asked. "I mean it's like a game, or so I think. You can play whoever you want and such, it's still hard work but because it's fun to do, it's nice to do." She giggled a little and nodded at the question Mana had bombarded her with, she was going to answer them one by one, "Some cameras are a lot smaller, to zoom in but the big ones are like really big!" She jumped up a little moving her hands as far away and above herself as she could before sitting down again and laughing. "Sometimes they powder my fur a little because it still looks like a bit of skin, it's so to make it more brown looking, or golden brown as they call it." She nodded, she did not like that. Before she could answer the new questions that Mana-chan gave her, she had to stop, no wait, that's how it looked. The expression on the girl her face, "Oh, no the Animal Rescue movie has been on a break, but we are getting one. This is the second version of the Jungle Princess. We are going to Urban instead of forest!" She smiled, yea it was maybe not the most convenient title to be called Jungle Princess 2 but that did not matter.
So Honey decided to ask to change phone numbers, that would be great! But it was quiet for a while, short while as if Mana tried to think, oo! What if she had no cellphone, stupid Honey, stupid! But the girl said she would and that she wouldn't share it, which was something she wanted to laugh about but Mana added she had no one to share it with. She did not know what to say and played with her Mochi. "I finally made friends by going to school so I don't have much either." Maybe she could visit once, but on the one hand Honey was afraid, like her mom said: KEEP IT SEPARATE and she did not want to anger her mom. They first had to share the Sakura mochi and so she cut it and gave a piece of it to Mana and she smelled it, brrr it gave her the shivers with how strong before she took a bite, which was rather mild. "Perfume maybe?" she asked as her friend also asked how it worked. She wouldn't be too surprised if there was such a thing as food perfume. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

"Yes! That is the name. Place names are so weird some times," Byeol-Su gave a small sigh and tilted her head back a little, chomping down on the rest of her cherry blossom mochi while she listened to Honey. She tried to imagine the life she was describing. Playing whoever she wanted to, being filmed by big cameras, getting make-up put on, being a star...a lot of little girls probably dreamed about it more than she ever did. Compared to what they did acting sounded so calm and tame. Goodness, what would he think if she told him she wanted to be a movie star someday? He might laugh at her. He absolutely would. She didn't want to be one, so it didn't matter.
It was still nice to think about and, for a moment, pretend to dream of.
Ah, so it wasn't Animal Rescue? Too bad. Byeol-Su preferred those shows to the newer ones, but maybe that was because she was younger? Eh. "Is it still called 'jungle'? Even if it is not in the jungle? Oh, but some people call big cities an...turban jungle? Urban! Urban jungle! Maybe is a play on that phrase?" Byeol-Su felt a little proud of herself for remembering that.
With a mouthful of mochi Byeol-Su reached into her little frog-shaped purse and pulled out a simple smartphone, with a matching frog-shaped phone-protector around it--one of the extra thick ones that came with a thin piece of plastic to go over the screen for added safety. She clicked off the app she had been on and onto the normal phone number book. It was empty save the number for his phone, and the one for their boss. Everyone else she was friends with she had in the chatroom instead. "Here! I think there is a scan thing we do to exchange them? Or can just say the numbers."
"Perfume for your mouth! That is so weird! It is less sweet than I thought it would be..." she pursed her lips, "I know there is a thing where they pickle cherry blossoms. What does a pickled flower taste like...hmm?" She looked between their plates again. "Think I just want to try a 'normal' flavor next. Chocolate maybe? I love the chocolate so much, it is so--oh!"
At that moment, the person from behind the counter emerged with a pair of large, ceramic mugs with little stacks of whipped cream on top of them. They set one in front of each girl and took the little piece of paper with their table number on it, bowed and gave a short "Please enjoy!" before leaving. Byeol-Su squeaked and pulled the mug a little closer. It was hot! Too hot for her to drink yet, and almost too hot for her to touch--her skin melted a little too fast and pooled around the base of the mug before she withdrew. Oops. "Speaking of chocolate! Meh, I want to drink it now, but too hot."

● waiting, waiting... i fall asleep Honey nodded, she agreed, even though she was born here, some city names were difficult and the pronounciation. Sometimes, especially when she was younger she mixed up the way to say things because she talked to her mother in Japanese and to her father in English, but that was okay. She was always forgiven and she could speak both languages fluently now but it was just a mixture of things and sometimes a funny accent in both. Honey told Mana-chan all about what she did as an actress. It was refreshing to talk to someone about it, especially if she could not at school, that is to say her mother wanted her to keep it a secret. It was difficult to not spill the guts about school here and now, but she would manage, she would manage with everything, she wasn't stupid, just a little bit of a blabber mouth. Which happened to be that she just admitted that Animal Rescue was getting a movie and that she was well working on another movie which wasn't even announced yet. It wasn't said that Jungle Princess would get a sequel and yet they did.
"Yea I think so, Tokyo can be a jungle too." She laughed, yet they were filming here but whatever, "I think it's also to keep the name so people understand its from the same eh movie series?" Movie series seemed to be a word that did not fit but alas, it wasn't bad Mana-chan surely would know what she meant and therefore Honey simply continued to explain and glad that Mana-chan was a good listener and also someone that was interested and knew what she was talking about. yes, this was great. She took her own phone soon out of her pocket to give the scan icon for Mana-chan to take, she wasn't aware of the empty phone, "That's cutest phone case ever!" She exclaimed though, hers was simple, yet sturdy because it slipped out of her hands too often with running around and being too active, it made a lot of sense. As they had finished the mochi that Honey did not like, she was glad to hear that Mana also wanted a normal flavour and she was almost ready to get the chocolate one when she noticed something in the corner of her eye. Her ears going up and she looked for the person from behind the counter that brought their drinks. Woooow these mugs were big and she too climbed a little better on her chair to watch the big mug, "Almost tempted to try." But that really would burn her tongue, "How about we take the strawberry mochi first?" And save the chocolate one for with the chocolate or would that be too much? They still had so many flavours to try. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

After a bit of fiddling with it, Byeol-Su got to the screen to scan another person's number into her phone, and added Honey into her contact list. She felt so important, having the number of a movie star in her phone! But at the same time she was also a girl only a little bit older than she was. That was kinda funny to think about. How many other girls her age did Byeol-Su even know? The closest she could think about were the twins, Ayame and Shizume, but even they were older than her--although they didn't act like it. Maybe Niso? No, he was older than her, too. Honey was older than her, too, but probably not by that much. Maybe?
Her size made it hard to tell. Curse her tiny, adorable self!
She only noticed after the fact that her phone was being complimented. Byeol-Su giggled and showed it off a little more to Honey, with its deep green color to the lighter green and warm brown flecks dotting up the back and sides, to the two little orbs on the top of it that resembled eyes. They were big and yellow with square-shaped pupils. "I really like frogs," she explained, a giggle still in her voice, "I like a lot of slimy animals, but not a lot of phone cases are in the shape of a dolongnyong...uh, what is the word for it? Sal-a-man-dar? Yes, that it is! Not a lot of things shaped like that. They make me think of, well, me! Because I am slime. Or 'goo', if you listen to my friend." She rolled her eyes and reached for the knife again.
Since the hot chocolate was too hot to drink, and because she liked Honey, she nodded at the request to try the strawberry mochi. After all, the sakura one had been pink, too, but hadn't tasted as good. They needed a yummy pink one to make up for it. She pressed hard on the handle of the blade and in went the knife through the soft outer shell of the mochi, then quickly through the ice-cream inside--a little easier than the first, as time passed and the ice-cream grew softer. She put the knife aside and pushed her box-plate-thingie closer to Honey to take her half. "Here you go!"
Before she took a bite, though, Byeol-Su tilted her head. "What is your favorite animal, Honey-chan? Is it also squirrels? Or chipmunks?"

Honey was so excited by the frog cover that Mana-chan had around her phone. Hers just had a simple bump because she would drop it too fast but that was cool! She was going to find one during a shopping trip one day. "Oooh!" She said interested when her new friend explained, salamanders, she had never really seen one so she had no idea, but there were frogs in the little pond that they had at her home. She could maybe invite Mana-chan there one day, she thought about it. That would be cool, she never really had friends over. Yes, that would be nice but she did not know if her mother would allow it or if Mana-chan did dare to come, but she would come to a filming set one day, so maybe they could go and play at her home after that. Again she nodded to herself, "We have a pond at home and there are frogs there." She decided, therefore, to finally say.
She drooled sort of by looking at the brighter pink mochi. Strawberries were some of her favourite things in the world so she looked forward to having mochi. So she was grateful to take the part that was for her and put the soft ice cream and sticky outside immediately in her mouth. Wobbling with her legs up and down, a sort of dancing while sitting as it made her happy. This was a great flavour and she felt it gave her a sort of energy boast, which was of course not true but the sugar would get to her later anyway. She was happy that this was going on, they continued to talk about things and she thought about Mana's question. "Hm, there are so many great and cute animals. Dogs! Some cats! Squirrels and chipmunks, there is also this green creature I bumped into, he has fluffy white manes and he likes cuddles, he is so cute but my mother doesn't want any pets. I keep seeing him on the street or in Musutafu, I think its a stray." She pouted at the end of her explanation and she realized she had no picture, she should try that next time she bumped into Midori, hmhm! But now it was just an imagination that she had to tell Mana bout because he was cute and soft and very smart! Yes, she would see if she would see him again.

Strawberry mochi with strawberry ice-cream inside was the best thing any person had ever created, ever. Hands down. Byeol-Su figured she was alone in this mental statement but she didn't care. She had a mouthful of one of her favorite foods ever, so everything was great! It was made better by Honey telling her about-- "A pond?? With frogs?? You can have a pond in your house??" Byeol-Su tried to figure out the logic of how that worked. Wouldn't it make the room hard to walk around in? Maybe it was just in the middle and there were chairs around it. Probably couldn't have carper in the same room, either, or the frogs would make it all gross and gooey. Or maybe it was kept in a big class case, like those tanks at pet stores, only filled with a whole pond and frogs! Maybe even fish! That'd be so cool!
I should ask Iseul if we can get a pond, too! We don't really have a house but maybe the hotel would let us put one in. We pay a lot of money for it...
"I wish I could pet things with fur. But my skin gets fur stuck in it. Or it stuck in fur. Some with short fur, it is okay, but not a lot of cats like the feeling." Byeol-Su pursed her lips before taking another bite of mochi to make her happier, even if she was a bit bummed at the reminder that she could likely never pet a cat. Would Honey's fur stick to her if she tried to pet her tail? or even just hug her? Petting someone's tail seemed like a weird thing to do to a person. Wait, what was she talking about now? "A green creature?"
Byeol-Su tilted her head, cheek still full of mochi before she swallowed it. "Do not know any animals that are green with white fur. Is it from Japan?"

Strawberry was the best and it was very clearly visible on Honey her face that she was rather happy about eating the strawberry mochi. Strawberry and chocolate was the best. She took a sip of the hot chocolate after that and it made her sort of dance on her chair. She looked up at Mana-chan and she shook her head, "No-no, I mean in the garden. Hehe." She looked a little stupid, brushing the back of her head with her hand and just making the hehe sound again. She would still doubt on the invitation but she was going to make that invitation later, she was sure she could do that at any other time but before she thought about not saying it, she had already blurted it out, "You could maybe visit one day." She nodded to herself. Almost smacking her forehead for blurting out the invitation but it was just nice to have a friend and if she liked frogs, she should come and see!
She ate a little more and drank a little more while listening to Mana-chan and nodding. "Maybe one day." She nodded because that would be something, maybe they could practice or or or! A naked cat! Yesss, she had no idea where to find one but she knew they existed so that was a thing and she moved her legs up and down again, "We will find a pet that you can pat." Even though she said it right she almost got confused with which word to use and she grinned at her friend. That was going to be a fun expedition. But then Honey told about Midori and she nodded, "I have no idea, I also don't know what it is. It has one eye, it's bright green and it has these pincers." She indicated with her fingers like clicking pincers to the sides of her mouth, "And white manes like a little lion and then a green thing on its back." She nodded as if it was the most normal thing to discuss, "But I have never seen another such creature, I call it Midori, it seems to be very smart and understanding what I mean." She giggled as she remembered all the funny things they did. Hopefully, she would bump into it again at some time, Midori after all, was her friend.
Maybe Midori was just her favourite creature because it was so special, was it not from Japan? Was he an illegal pet!

"Garden? What is a garden? Oh. Like in the park? You own the park?"
Byeol-Su was a little confused. She'd never seen a house with anything like the park in it or around it--but she had also only been in apartments all her life, and never ventured into suburbia beyond brief visits. Actually, there was a house she knew with a lot of green around it; Il Padro's house! Was that a garden? Did his have a pond, too? Maybe she should visit again to be absolutely sure. She would just need to keep some distance still.
Even if he had apologized, she was still a little scared of him.
But speaking of concepts she didn't understand, what in the world was this animal that Honey was describing? Byeol-Su's expression grew more and more confused as she tried to piece together this metaphorical animal together with the imagery given. One eye, pincers like a bug, a mane like a lion, and a thing on its back. A stinger? It sounded like a bug, almost, but bugs didn't have fur. Did they? Some caterpillars did, but this sounded too weird to be a caterpillar. "Can you draw it? I am trying to see it in my head but I do not know what I am thinking. Like. Is it a bug? But bigger than a bug? With fur? Is the thing on it back a stinger??" So many questions.
Maybe it was a mutated animal, and Iseul would want to capture it and look at it in the lab! Then she could give it to Honey as a present when he was done with it! If it didn't die, of course. But he was careful about that sort of thing, and worse comes to worst she could try to heal it with her self.
The cocoa looked cooler now, so Byeol-Su touched the cup with her hand. It still felt VERY hot to her, but her body was sensitive to heat. It was probably safe to sip a little of it now? She really wanted to have some with the ice cream. Cocoa and ice cream were amazing together. Moving the cup to the edge of the table Byeol-Su put her mouth on the lip and sucked in some of the sugary drink rather than try to lift and tip it into her mouth. Sure it looked childish but she didn't really care that much. She was a kid.
"Mmmm, this is so good! Still hot," she giggled, and as she sat up the heat from the drink made her nose droop a bit, "But so sweet! I love cocoa~"

Honey was not sure how to explain all, geez and she thought that she was barely aware of the world, "Ehm a garden is...." She said but it was difficult to explain, really. "It's a mini park, much smaller and more flowers in my mother's garden but also less grass." They had flower beds on the side, a fountain in the middle and well the rest was made of paths and the like, so stones. "You know green around a house." Honey said, that was probably a bit better to explain, "Some are really small, or some houses don't have it but some do and some gardens are really big." She wasn't sure if their garden was really big but if it was comparable to a mini-park, well then probably it was. Shame they had not such good trees but then again her mother would probably not even let her go into the trees so that might be why they had not had any.
"I am not great at drawing but I can try." Honey would get the napkin and a pencil out of her pocket and tried to draw Midori. She started with the green eye, that was the easiest, then the mane, that was easy as well. The pincers at the front were more difficult to draw, how were they again with his eye? She had not seen him for quite a while, then his little body, again pincers and four stick-like legs. There, done, Honey even smiled a little satisfied, it was at least looking like Midori. "I think you could say he is a big bug. He is like hm, a little puppy size." Well maybe a little bigger and also depending on which sort of puppy but this was all she could explain to Mana-chan.
She would quickly divide her attention back to the hot chocolate and did the same as Mana did, because it looked funny and no one was going to punish her for doing so, it also did not make it stick in the little bits of fur on her face. She giggled and nodded, "Still hot, but tasty." It was just nice to be here and to do this, she would slice the next mochi and would quickly put it in her mouth; wew that was a bit too cold after the hot chocolate and she vanned her own face with her hand but did not spit out the mochi cuz that would be bad, luckily it was only half of it. "That was suddenly too cold." She shivered when she was done with it and had managed to swallow. [/b]

So damn sweet You choke on all the sugar
A mini-park around a place somebody lived sounded really nice, actually. Byeol-Su wasn't sure how people would be able to have one in a place like they were staying at though. They had real plants inside in pots sometimes but other times they were made of plastic. And usually they belonged to the hotel they were staying at. Byeol-Su wondered what a house looked like that wasn't as big as Godfather's, but wasn't as small as a hotel room. One with a garden like Honey described. It sounded really nice. A tiny place with a big garden. Maybe when she grew up, she could...
Grow up?
Since when did she think about that?
I'm not going to grow up.
"I have never lived in a place with a garden before. Always in a city. Never in a house." There was something funny in her smile, something not entirely there. It went away as soon as Honey finished the weird sketch, curiosity overtaking the whatever-it-was that had filled her chest with a cold ache. It looked so weird! Nothing she'd ever seen before looked like that! And to be as big as a puppy, it was even weirder! What did it eat? Where did it live? She had to tell him about it--maybe they could try to catch it! And if she did, then she could call Honey and she could visit and look at it with her. If he said it was okay, maybe Honey could come over a lot.
She'd never had a "friend" over before. And Honey was normal, not like her at all. She probably wouldn't be allowed to come over. But Byeol-Su could hope for it. Was that okay to do? It was possible, if not likely.
Byeol-Su started to giggle at Honey who was going between the hot and cold so fast it was confusing her brain. Then, on her lap, she felt a vibration that made her whole body jiggle very suddenly, followed by a trio of chimes. Oh. Byeol-Su looked down, picking up her phone and looking at the screen. The caller ID just read "Friend". That weird feeling in her chest came back. "Oh. I need to answer. Sorry. I will be back." She smiled weakly at Honey before hopping down from her chair, and taking a couple of steps toward the door. She wasn't sure where to stand to take the call--the shop was still really quiet, but she didn't want to do it right in front of people, so she went towards where a sign pointed toward the bathroom.
Around the little corner, she picked up by swiping across the screen with her finger, then holding it to her ear. She hoped she was far enough away for nobody to hear her voice--she should have been. "Iseuuuel," she whined into the phone, not even waiting to hear him say why he was calling in the first place. "I'm not done! I'm having fun! I want to stay outside longer!"
"It's time for your next check-up, ParaSyte." The voice on the other end was tired sounding. Not irritated, just tired. "Or was, fifteen minutes ago."
"I'm still in one piece," Byeol-Su grew quieter, the whine phasing out slowly, "I feel fine. I took my pills this morning. You saw me do it. Can't I stay?"
There was a hesitant silence on the line. Then, after a small rustle of something--paper, or very dry hands--against the phone, he spoke again:
"I don't think I need to remind you that this is important."
She hunched over a little, shoulders literally sagging down from their proper place on her torso as she curled into herself a little. No. She didn't need reminding. But she was always so good about it. One time wasn't going to kill her, was it? It wasn't like she wouldn't have another check-up tonight. He'd understand if she told him, wouldn't he? "But I'm talking to a friend..."
"Really?" Something changed in the voice. Curiosity? "I'd love to hear about them. Five minutes. You may give them your number, if you like."
I already did. I would have even if you said I couldn't.
She didn't say aloud. Instead she just closed her eyes and grumbled into the receiver. "...okay. See you soon, Iseul."
"Good-bye, ParaSyte."
There was a little click, and the line went dead. Byeol-Su lowered it to look at the screen as it went from the call screen to the normal background, and for a second had an image of slamming the thing onto the ground so the glass would crack and splinter. Have fun calling her back on that, you fun-killing meanie. But...she couldn't. And wouldn't. Then she'd have no way to chat with her friends or, now, call Honey. So the phone would live. She took a little longer to force the ache to go away before she came back out, face an appropriate amount of sour as she returned to their table.
"I am sorry..." she mumbled, "But my dad is coming to bring me back home. I have to go." She looked up at Honey with a small pout. She didn't want to go back yet. She wanted to eat more mochi and finish her coco. She could get a cup for the latter but it wouldn't be as fun alone. "Do you want the rest of my mochi? You did not get to try it all...and I come here more than you do..." Byeol-Su looked at the folded-out boxes on the table. The plus side was that they could be used to bring the food with them. But she didn't want Honey to miss out on the flavors she hadn't tried yet. That'd be sad.

Brain freeze on fire! It wasn't a real smart combination to drink hot chocolate and munch on mochi too quickly and she was therefore in a bit of a dangerous setting or mood but Honey would survive. They were talking about the garden though and as she never had that, Honey thought about asking her mother one day to have Mana-chan come over. She would probably not be against it, right? But for now they were here, and they could always text about it later. Next, the little squirrel went to draw midori on the napkin that she had and showed it to Mana, but she wasn't sure how to explain it and tried to make an impression of the creature she had met a couple of times now. But still, drawing wasn't something she was bad at, still how to draw from your memory was a difficult thing either and she looked at it funny until Byeol-Su her phone went and Honey looked up and nodded with a smile, "Don't worry." And she would work on the drawing a little better, maybe she could ask for some green, if they had it here and she took a sip of her chocolate, as if she was some sort of mini detective, trying to figure out what was wrong in this scenario.
When Mana returned, Honey looked up, she looked sad, so Honey did immediately too. "Aahw." She replied to the information that her dad came to pick her up. Then Honey looked at the mochi and she would be very interested but it was Mana's, "It's yours, you should take it. It's a good excuse to come here again and meet up with you." The little squirrel said enthusiastic and would just say goodbye to her new friend. Honey almost hugged her but learned on time to not do so and just waved goodbye when all was ready and she would pack her last mochi too and finish her chocolate before heading back on her own adventure.
