Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ Nope… No way… Definitely Not… A series of men’s faces popping up on the screen of her phone before being swiped away near instantly, Alexa Andrews let out a soft sigh as she stood in line at a coffee house, wondering just how long it might be before she actually got something that tasted as good as the smells around her in her mouth. He wishes~ Staring at her phone as she waited and using the opportunity to put her ‘patience’ to good use by catching up on a little bit of personal ‘admin’ so to speak, the dark haired dish couldn’t help but feel a hint of irritation at the lack of success she found as she thumbed her way through the waiting stack of possible ‘connections’ she could make, and found hardly any that really seemed to shine in her eyes. “Hmmmmm…” That sense of disappointment that she felt almost making her feel a bit desperate, as she reached an image that was not instantly off-putting, she lingered there for a second or two considering this close to acceptable option, before sighing again and snapping her thumb across once more to swipe this one away as well. I can’t really have worked my way through all the available men in Tokyo, can I? A small knot forming in the brow of the femme as she guessed that the only reason she even contemplated that last option was from a simple desire to break this boredom inducing pattern, after shaking her head she once again began to brush away any hopeful connections and hummed softly, not even noticing for a moment that her focus on this task left her a little blind to the fact that it was actually her turn to go up. “Excuse me, Miss…? Your order?” Only really realizing that it was at last her occasion to acquire something hot and bittersweet when the clerk in front of her raised his voice to get her attention, after a moment or two of lingering on yet another option for the future the icy eyed Miss Andrews blinked and looked up toward the voice that called out to her, and then took a step forward as she did so. “Oh, sorry…” Not even noticing as she did so that her thumb had travelled just enough right for the device in her hand to register the action as a ‘swipe right’, as a lucky fool slipped through the first stage of tight net the girl kept on her personal connections the girl from a land down under moved toward the counter and for some reason despite already having her choice in mind still took a moment to scan the options above her. “I’ll have a… Large Macchiato, please.” Shaking her head when she realized what she was doing and then ordering with as pleasant a smile as she could manage, the corners of Alexa’s mouth curled upward just a touch as she dealt with the person in front of her with an unusual sense of severity in her tone, at least compared to the people around her. Certainly the words that she chose polite enough but something about her bearing stiff and business-like, she wasn’t the sort to hope that a person behind the counter was having a nice day or consider the impact that the innate frostiness of her tone might have on them, and was instead being far more concerned with other matters that rolled around her mind rather than fostering friendships with people whose faces she would likely forget the moment that she walked out of this brew-house of caffeine. I hope I get to the lab soon, All this Hero work has left me behind in my research… Instead focused on bigger and better things, she would make no effort to engage small talk with the person behind the counter or any in her vicinity unless they seemed particularly intriguing, and from what she could tell they did not. Not that she would really gave them much of a chance to become this, of course. However, there was always that odd one or two who fell through the ‘net’, wasn’t there?

Tapping away idly at his phone, Axel shuffled along with the line as it moved slowly forward. One annoying thing about the winter season, beyond how it could literally stiffen the joints of his chassis, was the huge lines in any place that’d serve you a hot beverage. Now, he didn’t need to drink. Heck he couldn’t drink, but all the places with good wifi also served the good shit, so he had to make do. Shuffling forward little by little, scanning idly through youtube and also the different wifi networks connected to the main building. He was getting the bare end of a signal from a mcdonalds across the street too…
If he could hijack that signal from here and connect the wavelengths that could-
Nope. Nope. Last time he tried to link the cities free wifi into a super network he fried his own servers. Not gonna try that again.
With a woman ahead of him getting their order, Axel shuffled forward to the counter finally. As much as the man at the counter had been a little thrown by needing to get the attention of the woman before him, Axel’s presence was even more unnerving. Now, quirks could vary across the board. Some people thought Axel actually was a robot. Some people thought he might just look weird, and the small speakers under the base of his TV head where actually some sort of mouth, but either way, it wasn’t unusual for someone to be questioning why he was buying coffee.
“I’ll take a small coffee please. Cheapest you have.”
The man at the counter nodded slowly, but hesitated. His eyes lingered on the man before him or the…whatever Axel was, hands shifting to grab the cup he needed but seeming to just be visually locked on the man before him. Eventually Axel just sighed, wanting his coffee sooner rather than later.
“No. I can’t drink. But I know you guys’ policy. I can’t use your wifi unless I buy something.” He clapped his hands together. “So come on. Chop chop with the cup o’ joe.”
The man swallowed a little nervously, clearly a little more thrown by the fact his clearly insensitive staring had been so readily brought to attention, shifting to make Axel his drink, which the robot boy readily snapped up before the barrista could even ask if he wanted anything else with that.
Wearing just a jacket, Axel was easily catching a tonne of eyes from his unusual form. Some immediately thought quirk, some thought some weird robot in the testing phase from some local university. Axel was used to it and didn’t mind too much, he just wanted to get to work. He still had to find an ‘in’ with some of the local… ‘rough’. Ugh. Wait. That was entirely the wrong way to put it. But the point stood. The more he toyed with his talents the more attention he might garner, and the closer he’d be to achieving his goal.
For now though…he just seemed like a TV headed boy, sitting down at a corner booth, and popping open his laptop.

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ “Thanks~” Polite enough at least to offer a word of appreciation as her drink was handed to her in a nice and speedy fashion, though she had been tempted to pull her phone out and continue her ‘admin’ while she waited for her coffee to be made the girl found herself surprised by the efficiency that the staff showed, pleasantly so in fact. It always nice to see when a job was done well, with a small smile the girl took a step or two away from the counter to the spot that was filled with sachets to sweeten her caffeine infused offering, and took a few of them in order to make her drink that bit more palatable. Coffee OK in her mind but that bitterness something that needed ‘tempering’ from time to time, while Alexa could neck it straight she preferred a little sugar and cream to make it feel more like a treat, and it is this habit that afforded her the time to observe something that she found rather interesting. Can’t drink~? The sort of girl who tended to do things like she was now on a kind of ‘autopilot’ as she let her mind mull over more important matters, had a perfectly ordinary coffee house conversation occurred next to her then Miss Andrews likely wouldn’t have really registered it, but for one reason or another one line of the discourse by the figure that followed her caught her ear and was enough to turn her head as well, and that was something she would be glad for. Now then, that’s quite an interesting sight, isn’t it? Looking up at the odd line that she heard perhaps because of the hint of a tinny tone in which it was delivered, while the raven haired researcher wasn’t sure exactly what she expected to see when she did so the Alexa was certainly astounded by what she saw, and slightly excited by it as well. The interest of the icy eyed young woman suddenly skyrocketing when she looked up in a casual fashion and saw what looked like an old fashioned television screen mounted on a person’s shoulders, our lady lead couldn’t help but stare with a sense of unabashed curiosity as she tried to decide whether what she was looking at was a costume or something more genuine, and as strange as it was to admit she hoped it was the latter. “That’s… Sorry to bother you, but is that real?” Certainly eager to find out the truth in the matter and also the kind of woman who didn’t tend to stand on ceremony when she wanted something either, even though most might have found rather an intimidating degree of rudeness in the notion of confronting a complete stranger on an odd aspect of their appearance, Miss Andrews quickly showed that she was perfectly comfortable with such ill manners as she spoke up to this stranger in the coffee shop. “Well, not part of a costume, at least?” Not the sort of girl who liked to let such an interesting mystery pass her by without getting involved, the dark dish rather hoped that the answer to her questions would be positive as she took a step closer to this odd looking figure nearby, tucking her hair behind her ear as she did so…

The moment Axel had sat down, the internal mechanisms of his Chassis had gotten to work making sure he’d be nice and comfortable. While the clear retro TV was still a part of his head, a metal casing around it made it look a lot more like the rest of his body. A part of that head casing was some simple Bluetooth headphones, immediately loading up some Persona 5 – Life Will Change. Best tune with a beat he could type away to in his opinion. Sadly as such, with his little routine flowing smoothly, he could often miss the world around him, but with the approach of the woman talking to him, it became clear just quickly enough he was being addressed.
He lifted his head, seeming to look towards her as if his eyes peered through the blank monitor. Two fingers rose to the side of his head and a soft double – beep seemed to indicate something had been switched off. Namely his internal headphones. He’d missed the first half of her sentence, but as ‘is that real’, he could only tip his head, wondering what she could be referring to. The monitor that was his face actually presenting a bold blue question mark on a yellow background as he tipped to the side. Afterall without a face to express with, Axel made a habit of throwing people a bone here or there so they could get an idea what he was thinking.
As her question continued however, Axel got on board well enough. However, rather than respond immediately…even though the monitor returned to a blank state, Alexa could almost get the impression he was narrowing his eyes at her. Taking her in. Some gear in his head just waiting to… slot into place, before everything started to click and he realized where he recognized her from. Once it set into place however, he seemed a lot more at ease around her. At ease enough to make a rather witty remark back, as his head tipped a little lower down from meeting her face.
“Are those real?” He’d ask in turn, a (¬‿¬) appearing across his face as he leaned back into his booth seat, folding his arms. For a moment he seemed dead serious before a light chuckle flowed through his speakers, shaking his head. “Ah. Nah. Nah. Sorry I couldn’t resist. As far as this goes though.” He lifted a fist, lightly bonking the side of his own head. There seemed to be a vaguely hollow sound to it. Clearly something inside, but by no means as internally dense as it would be if a human head was in there. “Definitely real. I mean-“
He pulled the collar of his jacket aside a little more and presented with an open palm the tubing that connected his head to the rest of his body. A thin slender bit of rubber coating some internal mechanisms and wiring. But as he was about to point out- “Do you think any human neck could fit in here? Bit of a tight fit I’d imagine.”

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ “What…?” The mind of the young researcher seeming a step behind that of the stranger who caught her eye when he responded to her so readily, perhaps because she didn’t expect a little emoji to pop up on the ‘face’ of the fellow, it took Miss Andrews a moment or two to realize exactly what he meant with his reply. A little bowled over by such a zippy little zinger and also rather impressed by the innuendo inherent it it once she did so, the girl couldn’t help but smirk just a little bit at the attempt at humour she was shown, as well as the bravado that it was demonstrated with. “Haha, well hopefully they look it, at least~?” That little impression seeming to endear the fellow to her even more than his unusual and intriguing appearance, in what was perhaps quite a contrast to the hint of frostiness that she had shown the clerk behind the desk as she ordered Alexa chuckled for a moment at the joke that this stranger made and tilted her head slightly, before looking down toward the features of her own anatomy and returning a little playfulness of her own. Certainly not dressed in a manner that drew a while lot of attention toward the area to which he seemed to refer but that only seeming to make the joking interest seem that bit more flattering, the raven haired researcher couldn’t help but feel an odd little boost to her ego because of the line, and also a budding sense of fondness toward the odd figure who spoke it. So it is real…? Saying nothing however as she was given a little demonstration by this cheeky soul as to the validity of his appearance, while it was cute enough of this stranger to rap his head to show how real it is Miss Andrew’s curiosity meant that she couldn’t help but lean in nice and close when he revealed the spindly little neck he possessed, and she even felt just a little tempted to reach out and touch the surface as well. Though this was an impulse she seemed just about able to restrain. “Fascinating…” Not managing to hide her intrigue all that well, however, as her icy eyes studied the anatomy of the stranger before her, as she did the riveted researcher wore an expression more akin to a merchant calculating the number of coins in a person’s purse, which would probably have unnerved most people. “You don’t have a moment or two, do you?” Always the type who tended to come on a little strong when she found something that she liked, even though she had no idea who the person she had met was the dark dish couldn’t help but want to ask further questions, and as such decided she might as well chance imposing herself on this odd person a little longer. Instinctively seeming to take a step to the side and then another in order to draw them away from the crowd, she hoped that unusual unknown might indulge her interest, after all, it had been quite a while since Alexa had a chance to examine someone who looked so intriguing…

Smirking a little…or rather, doing so internally as his TV head remained blank in response, Axel leaned back into his booth seat a little as the woman took a second to really let the idea click in what he was asking, shaking his head with a low chuckle and a tender sigh before she even seemed to tease back a little. A new emote in the form of ಠ⌣ಠ Appeared on his screen face and he took on a cheeky tone of his own in response. “Ya know that almost feels like a trap question, but I will say, you’re certainly easy on the TV screen.” He gestured vaguely over his face, crossing one of his legs over the other as he relaxed a little, balancing his ankle joint on his other knee.
The screen turned blank again though as they focused on his own ‘assets’ being real, and by now Axel wasn’t unnerved or the like. He was used to people asking about him, and as he’d taken an interest in how his own body worked as it was being built and all the like, he could understand the curiosity others had in him, and would never hold it against them. Heck, she was a hero too, so it felt only fair to be giving her the time of day.
As she made a motion to potentially share his booth however, his gaze shifted to his laptop screen for a moment. His hand darting across the keyboard, hitting 3 distinct keys and shifting it from a coding screen to a simple web browser thanks to some handy shortcuts he’d coded into the system. “Oh yeah I got time. Lemme guess. More questions about the whole…being a robot?” He’d ask pretty openly, shifting his laptop a little closer to himself as he shifted to make room for her at the table. He’d even reach inside his jacket and pull out a tied up wire. “Wanna charge your phone while yer here or anything? Noticed you swipin’ through it while you were in the cue.”
As she sat down, even plugging her phone in if she wanted, Axel would lean back into his seat again, resting a hand on his chest. “Axel.” He’d then gesture across to her, making it clear he recognized her. “You go by Minerva, right?” In truth, any other day he might freak out a little, but he knew to play it cool infront of the heroes as best her could, and it was clear she didn’t know him.

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ “Well that’s something a girl always likes to hear~” Smirking and enjoying the little ego boost she got from the small compliment she was offered about her looks, while Alexa prized having her intellect noted most of all, it was always nice for her to hear something nice said about her appearance. Prideful in her image to a certain extent and also shrewd enough to note the ‘doors’ that might be opened by her pretty face and pleasing form overall, though at times she could be frosty or prickly with the company she was in, praise always put her in a good mood and though it was vain it always did feel nice to know other people found her attractive. “And for what it’s worth I think you look pretty fucking gorgeous as well~” Certainly feeling her mood lifted by both the intrigue of this new character and the feeling of nice interplay between them, as they slipped into a seat and table scenario together Miss Andrews couldn’t help but betray perhaps a little more of her Aussie roots than she intended as she returned the praise she received in a rather frank fashion that might have surprised some. The kind of girl who liked a little class but also the sort who did not like to be caged by convention, there was something about the cheeky manner of this fellow that helped her relax a little, and as such she felt a bit more at home tossing in a little coarseness as she spoke to convey that feeling of ease toward this stranger. “Hahahaha, no thanks, my phone is fine…” Waving away the jokey offer that she was given about the device with which she had been toying earlier and smiling as she placed her bag and drink down in front of her, once again the icy gaze of Alexa carried a slightly calculating air as she looked toward the odd figure with whom she had had opted to share a little of her time, silently wondering just how much of him was like what she could see above his shirt and jacket. “Well, I suppose you can at least take solace in the pretty face of this particular fangirl, huh?” The brows of the blue eyed beauty lifting a little as her new friend seemed to guess the reason for her inquiry quite quickly but ultimately it no surprise that she wasn’t the only soul intrigued by that unique physique, the raven haired researcher saw no reason to quell the light and flirty tone that the pair had started with, and even went so far as to bat her lashes playfully at her would-be subject as they settled into a little one on one time. “Oh, sounds like we’re both fans of each other then, huh?” Finding herself surprised however when next her pseudonym was brought to the forefront, even though Miss Andrews didn’t make much of a secret of the fact that she moonlighted as crime fighter on occasion, she did find it a little astonishing to find someone that recognised her in an innocuous venue such as this. “Yeah, some people know me as Minerva, but my name’s Alexa…” The type of girl who tended to maintain something of a low profile as a hero given how she divided her time between that and her time in the lab, unlike the characters that seemed to top the ‘charts’ the dark haired dish was easy to overlook in this fledgling culture of heroism, especially since she had little inclination toward participating in endorsements or fancy functions in this regard. “And when I’m not fighting crime I work as a quirk researcher?” The passion of the young woman lying in science and intriguing observations of the new phenomenon known as ‘Quirks’, while Alexa didn’t doubt she could readily catch a few eyes and boost a few sales by adorning a billboard and maybe even enjoy doing it, her time was rather precious to her really. “Hence my interest? Well, part of it at least~” Already a busy woman in her pursuit of knowledge, as much as it might have fed her ego to have a cadre of fans following her around for the most part it felt like she had better things to be doing when she wasn’t risking her life. Like sitting in a coffee house chatting up a guy with a television for a head…

Smirking behind the television screen, his emotions always a little difficult to read given he wasn’t majorly expressive in his physical motions either, he was at least glad that, given her mildly rude question asking if his head was real, she took the question to her tits being real in stride and even followed on to just have a continued little tease back and forth about it. “Well what can I say. You guys like to point and stare at me for being ‘unique’, so I like to admire art when I see it too.” A winky face emote briefly flashes on his screen to the style of ‘;P’ before he settled into a more comfortable position.
A new emote appeared, just a simple face with raised eyebrows in some surprise as she made a comment on him being gorgeous as well. Briefly he was worried she was some sort of…roboto-phile or whatever the term may be. Not that he’d personally mind, but it was always something to be cautious about. Typically when someone had a kink like that in media, they were a little… off, in the head department. He wouldn’t show any nervousness, but at the very least he was making a mental note to be a little cautious. “Well er… thank you. I guess. Recently had the chassis waxed so I guess I do look extra sleek.”
The lack of her phone was a little disappointing, but expected. Not that she knew it but he probably just would have subtly ripped the IP codes off her phone and used it for his own gain in his little…project. If having direct wireless access to a pro hero’s mobile device didn’t earn him some points with the other criminals what would have eh? Ah well. He tucked the phone wire away simply enough.
“I suppose I can.” He’d idly retort to her having a pretty face, shooting a very lazy set of finger guns as he relaxed further back into his booth. As she even commented he was a fan of hers, he’d give a mild shrug. “Though I wouldn’t say I’m a fan-“ He began, idly scratching the metal shall that encased his TV head. “I mean I just like to keep up with the heroes. It’s best to know when someone’s saving your ass with a legal or non-legal quirk, ya know?” He’d give a bit of a smirk emoji on his screen before it quickly flashed back to the same dim base. “But if you prefer Alexa, Alexa it is.”
As she even went on to emphasize she was a quirk researcher, that was something Axel had yet to learn about her, knowing little more than her face and hero name. He’d have to make sure to keep note of that incase it could be an ‘in’ as far as interacting with her in the future went. He let out a light sigh however, though with a faintly sarcastic tone to it, as if he wasn’t seriously frustrated. “wellll. Lets get down to brass tax huh? What’re you lookin’ to ask about beyond my head? I mean, I doubt you’re joining me for the pleasant company.”

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ “Hahahah, 'art', eh~?” Smiling and scoffing just a little bit at the compliment that she was given, though a more down to earth upbringing and desire to not appear too vain seemed to inspire some compulsion to dismiss such a high level of praise, one could readily tell from the way that Alexa’s eyes lit up at the comment that deep down she loved being called that. “They put a pretty big charm circuit in that TV huh?” The glow in her gaze not the only thing that seemed to hint that she was certainly enjoying the hint of flirtation between the two of them either, without even realizing the girl leaned a few degrees further forward to be closer to the strange looking soul who had caught her eye and lifted her hand into her hair for a moment or two as well, toying lightly with the locks around the nape of her neck for a second as she joked with him in return for that teasing comment. Not used to hearing people tell him that sort of thing? The attention of the girl also not failing to notice the way that he seemed to also be humbled by the compliment that she had given him as well, given how experienced Miss Andrews was with dealing with those who possessed rather prominent features thanks to their quirk she could readily guess the reason for this, or at least assume the most likely. “Well it definitely shows, you look like a million dollars, darling~!” Not wanting to let the lad linger on ill feeling that she guessed that he might be reminded of in regard to how other people might have treated him in the past, as the figure in front of her cracked a playful little joke in what the dark dish assumed was an attempt to cover his feeling of vulnerability she leapt on the chance to join in, even adding a bit of a campy tone to her reply to make sure that their conversation stayed light and fun and not the sort of thing that took itself all too seriously. “Oh that’s the reason, is it? Not to know who to look out for when you’re up to no good?” Licking her lips as the conversation continued and then lifting her coffee up to taste some of the goodness contained within it as well, Alexa did note a tiny feeling of disappointment when the figure opposite her revealed he was not as she had assumed a fan, but that banter loving side of the beauty propelled her to make light of his reasoning. Certainly not meaning to cause offense and guessing that like so many folk with quirks the assumptions were always worse than the facts, some naïve or optimistic side to her presumed he was as law abiding a citizen as any, since she really had no reason to suspect otherwise. “Well, with intriguing anatomy like that, who said I was only interested in your head, huh?” Perhaps a little surprised when her would-be subject seemed to jump to ‘business’ given how well they seemed to be getting along and then even more shocked when she recognised the fact she had been enjoying their conversation up to this point without it involved, Miss Adams took this in her stride and couldn’t help but let loose another playful little line because of the subtle satisfaction she was getting from her company, and even went as far to bite her lip to emphasize her joke a little more before grinning. “But the truth is since I research quirks I can’t help but have a certain academic interest in you, I suppose? You wouldn’t mind a work of 'art' like me asking a few questions about, well, you and your quirk, would you?” Ultimately deciding it was perhaps best in both their interest to get down to that brass tax as her companion noted, the icy eyed beauty hummed a little and shook her hair out as she fished out a small notepad from the bag that she carried and a pen as well to write on it, assuming that Axel would indulge her given how amiable he had been so far but at the same time knowing it was better to ask than expect such things…

Axel nodded along as she reiterated him teasingly calling her art, chuckling a little through his slightly tinny speaker and shaking his head as she teased him right back. He never actually got the impression he was a very charming person. Most of the time he had his head stuck in a computer, or was covered in grease from working in his garage or…heck. Was just a robot. Tended to stand out over what he was saying for some people. “Nah, pretty sure that’s all me. I’d have known if they’d have slapped something like that in the ol’ noggin’” He gave the side of his head another light tap of his knuckles before crossing his arms and getting comfortable again. In truth, this was probably the first time he’d really flirted, and maybe it was just the sheer lack of expectation from such an act that was giving him the confidence to keep going with it. It was hard to be a nervous wreck if you had nothing to be nervous over afterall. Heck it was probably half the reason this woman was even indulging it.
“OOf. I almost think that’s how much they had to spend on me.” He’d joke right back, rolling up the sleeve of his jacket. While his hands were gloved in a soft fabric that could make them seem relatively human…just. Gloved. The rest of his forearm was decisively mechanical, a hefty gauntlet taking up most of it before flowing into a much slimmer albow joint, again following the idea that a real arm probably wasn’t fitting in there anytime soon. Axel didn’t make too much of a display of it though, quickly slipping his sleeve back up to his wrist.
He’d pretend to be a little taken aback when she mentioned him needing to know who she was to stay out of trouble, his face displaying ⚆ _ ⚆ for his next emoji, nervously pulling back, or pretending to at least, and placing two fingers against a small panel on the side of his head. “The raven has found the nest. I repeat, the raven has-snrrrk.~” He couldn’t hold it up. Shaking his head with a light snicker and a chuckle he just let out a playful sigh. “Nah, not much of a trouble maker. At least not in the league you’d be interested Miss hero.~” he gave a simple 8P emoji before idly starting to clack away at his keyboard as the two continued to converse.
“Hey as far as questions go though, be my guest I suppose? I mean honestly my whole life’s been questions so I’m used to it.” He’d quickly hold a hand up and add. “And by no means do I mean that as like, a guilt trip to get you to stop. I’m serious, I’m just used to it and I really don’t mind. I mean, I don’t get why people can get so defensive on stuff like that ya know? We’re all getting born with amazing differences no ones ever seen before. Seems only natural some people wanna ask questions so…yeah. Sock me with them questions beautiful.~”

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ ‘They’…? The brow of the black haired beauty lifting at the mention of someone spending money of this strange figure, since Alexa guessed that the entirety of his unusual appearance came from some form of advanced mutation she didn’t spare the thought to consider there was more to it than met the eye. At least not yet. Instead simply amused and noting the involvement of other parties as a topic to come back to at some point, she stayed quiet and could only speculate as to who her subject might be referring to with his jest, reading more into it than he perhaps intended her to. “Oh, with your cheek I don’t doubt you can find a little trouble if you want to~?” The dark dish certainly seeming to sense a notion that Axel was perhaps underselling his expertise in mischief given how sharp his wit had been, Miss Andrews couldn’t help but doubt that someone with such an amusing sense of character would be the sort to lead a dull and uneventful life, and also would have been disappointed if this was the case. “Gotta get out and have a little excitement now and then, right?” Certainly having her own ‘vices’ even when her status as a Pro Hero probably meant she should be something of a role model, though she was less prone to breaking the law now that she had a license to enable her more pugilistic tendencies that didn’t mean that the girl didn’t fully understand the thrill of breaking a rule or two, and would certainly not begrudge another person who crossed the line now and then in a largely harmless fashion. “Well, that’s hardly surprising… I would imagine a great number of people would be interested in you, you look rather unique after all?” Raising her brow again when the man opposite her mentioned being used to the questions and queries, Alexa quietly speculated as to whether that had anything to do with the ‘they’ that the object of her interest had mentioned earlier, and felt rather happy to know that this stranger would answer her questions as well. “So tell me, were you born like this, or did it develop later on?” Smiling as gently as she could as she clicked her pen and flicked her notepad toward a blank page and jotted the name ‘Axel’ upon it as she began to take notes on their little conversation, the blue eyed beauty rested her jaw on her hand as she began the interview between them, relaxing into the process as she evaluated and digested as much as she could from her subject while hoping that their interaction might prove fruitful for both of them in future…

Axel let out a light chuckle as she mentioned him not finding it difficult to get into trouble. God, he only wished that were true. His method of trouble making was naturally sneak and low key which made it incredibly hard to build a reputation too, especially frustrating when he needed one. Any ideas he had to try and make himself more obvious were a little TOO eye catching too, so it was a hard balance that he needed to strike…not exactly an issue he was gonna open up to a hero about however, and just giving a mild “Yeah. Right.” As he scratched at the side of his head-case again, just thinking quietly on his own thoughts.
With her following comment though he’d be a little more lighthearted and uplifted in response, still scratching his cheek but a little less with an ‘in thought’ weight to it. “Aye, aye that you do. Typically getting out for some excitement for me is a nice car coming into the shop for me to work on but…who knows. Maybe my life will get a lot more excitin’ soon. Who knows?~”
Back to the topic of his quirk, not a topic he was about to avoid for any reason, he idly rested back on his hands and leaned back to sort of let Alexa naturally take him in as she thought of how to approach her questions about him. The first one was a rather simple question and readily expected. Axel took a moment to reach up to the side of his head, seeming to adjust some clasps in the casing around his head.
“I wasn’t born like this, I was actually a normal kid really. Heck my parents didn’t even think I had a quirk so- actually.” He stopped abruptly. Two loose claps hung now along the edge of his head but everything still seemed pretty steady. He grabbed his phone, seeming to type in what must have been a 12 digit passcode before swiping through a photo gallery, and handing across his phone. A young red headed kid, about ten on the screen, just waving at the camera. “How I used to look. Don’t worry though. Long time ago. I’m er…22? Maybe 21 if you don’t count being in a coma.” He had an idle shrug, not seeming to hold much weight to it. It was just his life afterall.
Returning his hands to his head, the last clasp came undone, and he removed the outer casing of his head. Now balanced on his tubey neck was a rather clear VHS TV, with a lot of additional ports built into the sides of it, and some other additional wiring beyond that.
“My quirk is, ‘affectionately’” His tone was mildly sarcastic there. “Called ‘retro head’. Apparently I had a one time ability to infuse myself with a piece of technology, and my quirk decided to realize itself when I found this old thing in my dad’s attic.” He gestured across the TV part of himself, before working on re-attatching the head casing of his Chassis, making sure all the ports locked correctly into place. He even played a soft ‘rebooting’ tune for comic effect.
“The rest of me.” He idly opened his arms, as if ‘introducing’ alexa to the rest of him. “Was a government project. I think they canceled the benefit a few years ago, but there was this thing a while back where they’d treat some quirks to a special disability benefit. Mechanical legs for snake people, arms for people who’s quirks made them born without any. For me, they built a body that was compatible with my quirk.” He gestured over himself again. “Hence the me you see now.”

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ “Oh, so you’re something of a gear head~?” Tilting her head as Axel mentioned his interest in cars and making just a little note of it in her notepad just in case in became relevant to her studies, for a second she had almost forgotten that she was speaking to someone who looked for all intents and purposes like a robot, but remembered all too quickly. “Heheheheh, figuratively speaking at least~?” Letting loose a little chuckle as she clarified her question with a small smirk so as not to leave too much confusion in the air as to what she referred, while Miss Andrews was not well known for her interest in all things vehicular it did seem like an intriguing thing to note, really. ‘Grease monkeys’ had seemed to be something of a rarity in her life up to this point. “Oh really~?” The interest of the raven haired researcher only seeming to escalate when her subject revealed that his unusual appearance was not as natural as Alexa otherwise might have guessed, her pen moved back up to add a little question mark to the note that she had made reading ‘MUTATION’ in the English language that she found more natural to her, before letting her gaze linger on the image that her new friend brought up upon the screen of his phone. “Looks like puberty hit you quite hard, Axel?” The thin black eyebrows that she possessed lifting up quite a ways as she looked at the image of a boy with distinct red hair, the eager scholar found herself surprised by just how ‘normal’ the lad that sat in front of her looked way back when, and only more intrigued by the circumstances that had led to such a noticeable transition. So it comes apart, does it? Those high brows remaining in place when she looked back up to find that the screen head before her had seemingly been disassembled to expose the inner workings, part of Miss Andrews wanted to pick up her own phone and take a photograph of this fact for further documentation, but for some reason that seemed a little bit too ‘personal’ for this casual conversation. More the sort of thing that she might do with a subject who had come to her lab for more of an intimate examination, the idea of snapping a pic ‘under the hood’ seemed a little invasive for her tastes, especially when the blue eyed beauty didn’t wish to make people feel like too much of a sideshow freak. I bet he wishes he had found a nice subtle smart phone or a sleek tablet or something? Certainly curious about quirks but a more sensitive part of her remembering how even her own subtle power had made her something of an outcast, whilst she scrutinized what she was shown with fascination at the same time Alexa held her tongue and curbed her interests just a little bit, perhaps because of her appreciation for how candid he was with her. Generally, it was a lot harder for the young scholar to get people with such noticeable differences to open up, in her experience. “Oh I see… I think my lab was involved in that sort of thing back when I was an intern?” Quickly jotting a few notes and personal speculations on what she saw along with the name of the quirk that Axel mentioned to her as she peeled her eyes away from that intriguing but intrusive visage, as the mechanized young man mentioned some form of government initiative Miss Andrews couldn’t help but feel a certain sense of familiarity with such a project, at least in a passing fashion. “Though I’m sure if we’d helped you, I’d remember a pretty face like that?” Such a scheme unfortunately seeming to come and go before she had much of a chance to get involved with it in any high capacity, as she jotted a little line to remind herself to ask her mentor about such a project she looked up and smiled softly at the figure that sat opposite her, hoping she might just convey a little bit of sympathy for the circumstances he had found himself in due to the unfortunate nature of his quirk.

As Alexa called him a gear head, Axel tipped his head to the side, and on his TV screen face, instead of an emote, was what appeared to be a movie clip of a man giving an audible slow clap to her pun on how he worked. At least, he assumed it was a pun, but it was only reinforced when she tried to suggest that she’d meant it figuratively, shaking his head with a low, chuckle laden sigh as he rubbed the base of his palm against his TV screen once the clip stopped. “Yeah something like that. For years all I had to watch was the people building my body, so it developed as a bit of a hobby. I mean I had no hands and my voice wasn’t as clear, so most of the day I just had to think of ways things locked together. It became a lot easier to work with things when I had hands, cause I’d already gone over whole schematics in my head you know? Plus, keeps me in good practice now, since I perform a lot of my own maintanence. Course I do got a friend I can call on in emergencies.”
He’d snicker and sputter as she made the joke that his bodily change was just puberty, actually not expecting that so much that it had him keeling over a little. Even if he didn’t have the ability to actually ‘bust a gut’ laughing, his internal mechancis responded similarly, the strain laughing so much put on his speakers creating a similar sensation. Or, at least, as similar as he could tell, as he held an arm just under the battering pack in his torso as he felt a strained sensation there till he calmed down.
“Aaaaah my god. And you say I’ve got the quick wit…” He pulled a hand across his screen, a teary eyed emote showing as he ‘wiped a tear away’, shaking his head with a final little chuckle before relaxing again. “Aaaah. Guess so though. I was a 12 year old, and next time I had legs, I was a 20 year old. They talk about being ‘legless’ in your highschool years, but this is ridiculous.”
Once his display was done, he was surprised to hear she might have been tangentially involved in the program he was on or…something like that? He didn’t quiet follow what she was saying on the matter but it was interesting all the same, and he might have to look into what sort of connection Alexa had to it, just to make sure he was careful on the matter.
“Well, whatever the case, it was a nice little program, but…definitely expensive. Apparently I only got so far cause there was a similar kid who needed a similar kinda treatment they learned from when they finally put my body together. Apparently he’s in UA or something?” Axel shrugged, all he knew was some lucky kid with a similar quirk got stuck in a suit of power armor or some crap, but he’d never bothered to look into it beyond that.

Well now, isn’t that interesting~? ❝ “I suppose your emergencies do seem like you would need to visit a garage rather than a hospital, huh?” Not wanting to be insensitive but at the same time quickly noting how well the little jokes she had gone down with her companion, as Axel spoke of his mechanical interests and then his bodily blunders Miss Andrews couldn’t help but ‘up the ante’ so to speak in their banter, and unleashed a playful little line toward her tablemate with a raised brow and wry smirk. Already starting to feel a kind of buddy bond with the boy with the bizarre body, while she had a high level of professional interest in this boy she could also sense a certain degree of shared chemistry between them that was almost as intriguing to her, and her enjoyment of the lad’s company only escalated as he started to cackle like madman at her next little line. “Liked that one, huh?” Always the sort who liked people who didn’t take themselves too seriously, which was probably something that she got from the down to earth people of her southern homeland, given how easy Alexa found it to offend those with delicate sensibilities it was something of a relief to note a soul who seemed more tolerant of her snarky asides and desire to express her wit. Not a bad girl at heart but also the sort of person who sometimes might be in need of a partner with something of a thick skin, now that she thought about it such a fact seemed to make someone with a metal outer casing like this chuckling chap rather well suited to her, and once again the girl found herself enjoying the ease of this strangers company far more than she did even the people she had worked with for years now, and that seemed provocation enough for her to do something that some might have considered a little bit bold. “Say uh… You ever do more than just work on machines and sit around coffee houses borrowing their wi-fi?” That odd feeling of connection that she felt with Axel seeming to prompt Miss Andrews to take the lead in a little venture that in the moment seemed rather exciting, it seemed somewhat unusual for her to develop such a speedy bond with another person, and regardless of how unprofessional it might have made her seem in the circumstances that seemed like something that the girl simply couldn’t overlook. The type of person who knew that nothing ventured was nothing gained, even if the dark dish’s little inquiry went nowhere that was fine by her, but she reckoned that it was worth taking a chance on. “I’d love to give you my number if you ever felt like, you know… ‘Blowing off some steam’ together?” Noting her interest in the young man opposite her in more than just a case study sense and deciding that carried far more weight than the pictures that she had been thumbing her way through in the queue earlier on, while she might have made herself look a little foolish by making the first move when she wasn’t sure if the guy in front of her was interested in that way that wasn’t really enough to stop Alexa once she had set her mind on something, and so all she could do was smirk and jot her phone number down on a small scrap of paper from her notepad before offering it to the soul who intrigued her so…
