Kenshin walked down the street dressed in his usual hooded jacket and cap to hide his very distinct hair. As usual, he was on the lookout for any troublemakers. Sure the real action was not (to the boy's knowledge at least) going to start tonight, but there was the possibility of some criminals causing a ruckus early. Some people really were that stupid to try to start some trouble before the main event even started. And if that really was the case, then Kenshin wanted to be there to kick their ass. Still, he needed to be very careful when being out in the open like this. With something so big happening, there was no doubt that the police and pro-heroes would show up to put a stop to the auction. Though Kenshin was one who loved to fight, that only applied to villains, not the police or heroes. He would never even dream of lifting his blade at fellow champions of justice. However, the law would not necessarily see things the same way. Though there were some pro-heroes who did not have a problem with vigilantes, they were by default meant to uphold the law. And vigilantism wasn't exactly a legal activity. It did not take a genius to realize that Kenshin wanted to stay as far away from the heroes and police as possible. Despite that, Kenshin had no qualms with helping out the law whenever he could. In fact, he very much wanted to, seeing as vigilantes and heroes were two sides of the same coin of justice. Though the paths were different, the destination was the same. One was light, the other shadow. But rather than fight one another, they should cooperate and help one another out in the fight against villainy. Or at least Kenshin believed so. Even if he did not want to be face to face with a hero or cop, he did wish to help out in whatever way he could. As the boy continued walking, he noticed someone in the distance. It was too dark to see who it was. They would need to come closer before Kenshin could tell who it was. However, it was too late to hide. Just as Kenshin had seen the person, the person in the distance must have noticed him as well. Kenshin grit his teeth as he prepared for the possibility of having to do battle here and now. Was this a criminal approaching? A fellow vigilante, perhaps? Or was it law enforcement? Shit! If it was the latter, then running away was not going to be an option. They would give chase, no doubt. It seemed as though either standing there and waiting to see if the person was friend or foe was the way to go. Or perhaps Kenshin should approach? But then as he got closer, he noticed a small detail. Something that may have been a minor and insignificant detail for anyone else, but in this case, it was very important, because it made it very clear who this was. A horn protruding from the head. ...Red Horn? | Word count: 518

Mia was getting some fresh air from police HQ, with how boring those meetings were getting this was practically a life saver for her and left her feeling a deep sense of relief with every breath of fresh air she took. For once she couldn't go on patrol, she couldn't handle the local area, all she could do was go for a walk. She was even advised to change out of her hero costume before leaving so no one who recognized her thought she was on the job. So, donning her cozy parka for the winter air, a sleeveless sweater and some roomy cargo pants Mia went off to just get a break from it all and try and reset her head while she had the time.
Briefly, she'd wonder how bad things might be getting on her old patrol route, or heck, even around where the raid would take place since so many heroes couldn't be active while they were forced to wait and try not to draw attention to the fact they were in the area...but the hero organization knew what it was doing. They had other heroes put on those routes. Lesser names, but she knew her shit was covered, so she didn't have much cause to worry. Still, the idea of just...not having herself on patrol, not covering the crime...not having a way to scratch her itch...it was niggling at her to say the least.
On her little wander, a bit of movement caught the corner of her eye. Now, Mia was never one to be ultimately perceptive, but the amount of experience and some training she had by now had drilled into her to catch the small things. People hanging out down an alleyway? Always a red flag that was worth a full eyed look. Most of the time it was nothing, just a group hanging out away from the chilling breeze of an open street, or taking a break outside the back entrance of a resteraunt. In this case, Mia didn't see much immediately, her full red eyes glancing down the alleyway path and turning to step in towards it. If she had seen something, maybe it was just a cat or...fuck. She was sure it was bigger than that...
She tensed her muscles. If they'd seen her too maybe they just hid? That wasn't good...that meant they WERE up to no good but she wasn't supposed to let it spread she was doing work in the area until the-
SHe whipped around at the sound of footsteps coming closer, but as she did so, her body faintly enlarged by her tensed state, she rapidly relaxed right after as she realized what was going on, letting out a fair sigh and just chuckling it off as she rolled back her shoulders. "Oi kid! Long time no see...what has you down this way? Chasing down some villains?" Wasn't too hard to believe, they were all in the area for some reason or another.

Once Kenshin got close enough to be able to see her clearly, and once she actually spoke, any uncertainty remaining on who this was vanished instantly. Yep, it was Red Horn. Kenshin smiled. It was good to see a friendly face. "Hey! It's been a while. How's it going?" The last time he saw Mia, it was back in Nakano. It hasn't been that long ago, but it sure felt like an eternity or two. "Yeah, something like that. Just trying to get more info on the auction thing that's supposed to go down soon." He would ask Mia if she's heard about it, but it would be stupid to ask. She's a freaking pro-hero, so of course she would know. There was no doubt there. Speaking of knowing, it would have been nice if there were some way he could ask Mia about things going on with this. But Kenshin wasn't a fool. Such things would be classified, and even if Mia were willing to divulge that kind of information, Kenshin would not want to potentially get her into any kind of trouble. But speaking of trouble, there was some kind of information he could share with her. In fact, it was probably for the best if he did share. "Speaking of the auction about to go down, I'm guessing you and the other heroes plan to break in and put a stop to it, right? About that, I feel like you should know..." Kenshin had to be really careful how to word this. As much as he wanted to help out the law by giving Mia a heads-up, he also did not want to sell out his comrades. "Some vigilantes caught wind of the auction going on, so you won't be alone in putting a stop to it. I don't know their names, though." Technically not lying, as Kenshin only knows the aliases of his fellow Storm Knight members, not their real names. "But if I gave you a good enough description so you could know who not to bust up, would that work?"Kenshin wished that this was a more casual meeting. It would be nice just to chat about whatever else and not have to worry about business. But Kenshin did not know if Mia was busy, so he did not want to waste her time. At the very least, he wanted to make sure that the time he did take from her was well worth it. The others might be pissed off if they hear about what I'm doing. But as I see it, I'm helping them out by making sure they don't get confused for villains. At the very least, they won't be as much of a target. | Word count: 454

“Hah! Thought it was you!~” She’d chime back with a bright tone, offering her hand low for a high five. She’d offer an actually high high five, but some people couldn’t even meet that when they jumped given how big she was. “I’m doin’ pretty good. I actually made it to number one since we last ran into eachother!~” She gave a cheeky wink before dipping her hands back into her pockets, whether the ‘five’ was given or not, smirking at the kid before her and definitely glad to see a familiar face. She was a little surprised when he mentioned the auction however. “…You…know about the auction?” She lifted her head up with a careful expression, not wanting to give too much away incase he was speaking about a different one.
Seemed like the wise nuts in the villain ranks or the police HQ had been doing a piss poor job keeping this under wraps if even the vigilantes caught wind.
With them seemingly on the same page though, she made sure to keep herself quiet. As much as Kenshin was trying to be careful so too was she. She’d actually love to give him the details, get vigilantes on the scene if they weren’t planning to be there already, but she knew how bad it’d be for her if someone found out she’d let details slip. “Yeah. Something like that…” She’d give to the question of the heroes having a plan. “Not to stop it persay but…get all the villains in one spot, then trap them there. That’s pretty much the plan.” She’d smirk a little…that wasn’t giving too much away, surely.
At the mention of vigilantes showing up, that became easy enough to assume just from the fact they supposedly knew about it to begin with. She wasn’t about to spill the beans herself or ask for all the details, but with the idea of knowing who not to aim for, she’d nod along. “Yeah…yeah I could use that. Before ya do though er…” She dipped her head back to the main street. “Wanna find a place to grab a coffee or something? Ain’t like anyone’s gonna eavesdrop for no reason, and we probably stand out more just standing in some old alleyway eh?” She gave a cheeky chuckle, hoping her point was clear enough…plus she only had so long to take a break and she didn’t wanna spend it in an alleyway.

The height difference between Kenshin and Mia was hilarious in a sense, with the boy almost needing to jump a bit just to be able to reach the heroine's hand for a high five. It was almost like a dwarf and a giant, a David and Goliath (though not G's kind). "Heh, I'm not surprised to hear that. Congratulations on being the top hero!" Kenshin could have mentioned that he himself was now number 2 vigilante, but he decided against it. He was not one to brag a lot, and he did not really care much about rankings all that much to begin with. Getting all the villains in one spot to ambush and trap them all, eh? Kenshin liked the sound of that plan. Though Mia did not say, Kenshin could reasonably assume that the heroes would also take back the stolen merchandise and illegal goods to return to the government. Now seeing as the vigilantes' goal was to destroy such dangerous tech, Kenshin knew better than to try to bring it up. He would imagine that it would not go over very well if she found out that this was what the vigilantes wanted to do with the things that were being auctioned. Shit, why does this have to be such a damn mess? On one hand, Kenshin refused to sell out his comrades, not wanting to get them into any sort of trouble. But on the other hand, he did want to tell Mia as much of the truth as he could. But how much was too much? It wasn't that he could not trust the heroine. Rather, it was her superiors that the boy could not place trust nor confidence in. Well hopefully this would end on a positive note and not on a disaster. And then the boy had to resist the urge to facepalm hard for his idiocy once Mia asked if he wanted to go somewhere else. Of course chatting in some alley was a stupid idea! Why did he not think to suggest going elsewhere himself, and sooner? Despite the place appearing to be devoid of other people, such a place was in fact far from ideal when it came to trying to have a private conversation. The two would stand out and it would look very suspicious. On the contrary, a busy and public area was actually the perfect place to go to minimize the chances of anyone overhearing anything the two said. "Yeah, sounds good! I think there's a cafe not too far from here." It had been a while since the two got to chat like this. But with Mia being a pro-hero and busy with hero work, it was of course completely understandable. | Word count: 455

Mia had a wide grin on her maw at Kenshin’s reaction to her news, definitely glad to see someone else who thought she deserved the position. “Yeah well glad you think so. A few of my fellow heroes aren’t really of the same mind but…eeeeh.” She shrugged idly with a smirk, rubbing the side of her neck. “I don’t mind so much. I mean, it’s not like its ‘official’ anyway. When the government starts taking our crime stats into record and it ain’t just some popularity contest, then I might actually give a damn ya know?~” She had a nice wide grin on her, folding her arms over her chest. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to be the people’s favourite. But I wanna be on top cause of my hard work, not just cause of this handsome jawline.~” She gave a cheeky, playful grin as she lifted one of her hands, gesturing under her face before bursting out into a brief chuckle.
“Ah fuck…I can hold my ego when talking about my fighting skills but even I can’t take myself seriously if I call myself ‘handsome’. Hahaha!~”
Her smirk idly remained when he seemed to realize it was a better idea that they discuss this somewhere more covered. Sure a café wasn’t the most ‘private’ place but unless they looked extra loud or suspicious they weren’t gonna get many prying eyes. “Here come on I was headin’ somewhere anyway.”
Guiding the vigilante behind her, Mia adjusted her Parka, zipping it up and throwing her hood up even as they entered. Once they sat down she felt there’d be less of a chance of attracting a crowd, but even with her horn sticking out the hood should help them not get noticed initially. Upon reaching the counter, she’d order pretty much anything but a coffee, going for a super sized milkshake they had on offer because people weren’t buying them in the winter. She’d let Kenshin grab an order on her before taking their drinks, finding a nice little booth in the corner, slipping in with some light difficulty due to her size, but pretty comfortable once she settled.
“So.” She simply began, rolling her beck back on her shoulders before taking a loud slurp of her milkshake. “Where were we again kid? Something about the ‘big mess’ that’s about to go down? How’d you guys catch wind of it anyway? A villain get loose lipped.?”

Kenshin smiled as he nodded. "Yeah, I get that. Being on top is nice, but it's much better for it to have true meaning. It's good to see hard work being recognized." Perhaps that was why Kenshin did not really care so much about being the number two vigilante. To him, that ranking did not really mean much. Though it was nice to see that somebody out there appreciated his hard work cleaning the streets of scumbags, the mere concept of rankings was pretty much the opposite of what the boy viewed as important. Actually doing the right thing, rather than measuring one's feats and comparing them to those of others and making it into a competition of sorts. As he followed the heroine, Kenshin was not surprised to see Mia throw up the hood. Though he was not a mutant himself, he knew just how tough it was to keep one's appearance hidden. The boy quietly sighed in relief, glad to see that nobody paid the two any mind. Everyone here was just minding their own business, doing their own thing. Good, no worrying about someone getting in the way. The boy always felt bad when someone else paid for him. He wouldn't mind being the one to pay. But oh well. He just ordered a milkshake, same as Mia. Once he had sat down, he took a sip of his milkshake as he listened to Mia. And now it was time to figure out how to tell her how he and the other vigilantes caught wind of the deal. Kenshin did not want to rat out G, but fortunately, he did not need to. The guy wasn't the only one who told the others what was going down. So in a quiet enough voice so only Mia could hear, Kenshin spoke. "Apparently there's this underground chatroom somewhere. I'm not a part of it, but one of the vigilantes is and got the info from there." Thank you again, Blue Blitz. "Apparently, the place has some really shady people, and one of those shady people works for those that are organizing the whole thing." It was a shame that Kenshin could not take his phone out to read the exact link that Blue Blitz had posted without Mia noticing and then asking about the vigilante chatroom. Best to avoid potentially awkward situations. "A shame they didn't give an exact time and place, though. But I'm guessing you either already know or have people figuring it out." Now if the heroes already knew just when and where the big event would go down, Kenshin was not a fool who would do something stupid like ask Mia about it. Sure, he wanted to know, but even if the police had figured it out, he doubted that heroes would be allowed to tell anyone. And he did not want to cause trouble for Mia. "Either way, I'm not too worried about that. What concerns me is just who might take up the invitation. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Thundershock showed up." Kenshin had a feeling that things might get crazy. But just how crazy would it get? | Word count: 530

Mia grinned a little at the kids words, and he was exactly right. As much as Mia appreciated being on top even the way she was, she wasn’t letting it go to her head as much as she normally would. The rush she felt after taking down a tough criminal didn’t fall into the same category as the soft feeling of warmth having the publics love gave her in this sense. She wanted to know she conquered criminals in more number sand more deadly situations than the heroes around her…sure, she was basically turning a heroic act into a competitive thing, but sometimes the motives for kind acts didn’t need to matter. She knew what drove her, and she didn’t need to lie about that to herself. She’d sacrifice her desires to do the right thing, sure, but while those two things were in sync, it was just the icing on top.
Back at the café, Mia too was glad not to be recognized for once in a while. Even with her horn sticking out, it seemed that a lot of people in the world of quirks didn’t find that enough to connect the dots, which…was kinda appreciated. She wasn’t just seen for her horn, but also her imposing figure and her blonde mane of hair. That was a good thing in her books, that she wasn’t just her quirk, but also the traits about herself she chose to maintain.
Listening to the explanation about how the vigilantes had gotten the information from some sort of underground chatroom, Mia was immediately intrigued, leaning forward on her elbows and just trying to take in the information being provided to her. “Well if it makes thing’s easier on you lot, yeah we know when it’s going down…” She made a glance across the room, being extra cautious. She’d grab a crayon that was left out for people’s kids to draw with or something and scribble it down on a napkin, sliding it across face down. “You can let ‘em know whats when it all hits. Of course, you never heard it from me. I just know vigilante or pro, it’s better we get whatever we can there helping us take down the goons. Ya know?”
Idly taping the back end of the crayon against the table however, she did have a thing to ask in turn. “So…what exactly is this underground chat? I mean I don’t wanna put you on the spot but…” She rested a hand on her chest. “Maybe I could get in there? I mean, you of all people know I ain’t about to rat you vigilante lot out, right?”
