Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse At first she had not wanted to respond. She kept reading the messages, as if nothing happened and that was alright, she absolutely did not blame anyone for that. It was always the best thing, to make the best of the situation and this work, sort of stake-out meant that they would be working from Dawn till Dusk and in between and the whole time trying to be efficient, useful, gathering intel, it was a tiring thing. She had not known Mia was outside, she had considered texting her to ask if they could talk, her little pep talk from months ago was very welcome right now.
She yawned and wobbled a little on her chair because sitting here in the dark all by herself was definitely not fun and she felt when she read the messages, the need to drink something, something cold, ice creamy like. Something like a milkshake but asking Hellhound would be a bad decision, it would be a strange decision as they well they weren't really well known too each other and it was just strange to ask her if she already had to carry so much, well, no harm in trying. So she did, and well the conversation just continued, dropping in, more people and so Nimue decided to offer help, keeping up the cheery talk. This was what she needed, in this atmosphere that made her dreadful and scared of re-precaution and so many other things that would go through her mind. She quickly opened the door of the room she had, switched of the lights and looked in the hallway if there was someone from the little chat around, if there was, she would invite them to come in here, there was enough space in the room, which was probably hold for meetings of the upper staff, the table was big and round, with open space in the middle, comfortable big blue plushie chairs, definitely not for your average officer, but she did not think too much about that, for now, it was a great place for a midnight chat and a midnight snack.
New faces to met, new faces to talk to, but also people she knew and wanted to talk to, just for distraction, for opinions, never for praise, she rather would not talk about that at all, it was something that happened but the after effects, that still stung her. She needed to find a solution for that issue. For a second she checked her phone but it was midnight, he should be asleep and if he was not, he would be painting, at home anyway.

With the whole food train thing giving her a small chuckle after a long day of planning, Mia, currently just in a room on her own after she'd had a big talk with some of the officers about how this was all gonna be a 'serious' event and how, even if she's the unofficial number one, she needed to take this seriously and yadda yadda yadda. Ya know, after that whole popularity contest she thought she might get at least some respect from the people who saw her as more liability than heroine, but it just seemed to reinforce their behaviours around her, as they worried she'd have an even bigger ego to keep in check.
Come on guys, they had the chance to take in villains and criminals way into the double digits if this shit went down the right way. You really think she'd mess that up? Heck if anything, without a crowd to showboat to, all she could do is show herself to her fellow heroes and officers, so she needed to do all the more to prove she knew what she was doing, rather than just showing off for the sake of it. None of them would be impressed by showmanship afterall, she need to show them all instead that she actually knew what the fuck she was doing.
The police officers who'd been giving her an individual run down had long since left the room and now she was just waiting for Hellhound to get back with the huge ass food order everyone had piled on her. Maybe someone with super speed could dash out and help her, but for now they waited. Mia pushed up from the table she'd been leaning on...pausing as the tiny chair stuck to her hips and wrenching it off of herself with a sigh, before starting to wander the halls in search of the other heroes.
Some were wandering the halls, others just seemed to be nursing a coffee. Heroes or not, staying in these rooms for so long was bound to wear any of them down bit by bit, especially when they were used to more direct action. Rolling her shoulders back, Mia made it her next plan to find a room everyone could get together in...while she'd be happy enough eating alone, ever okay with her own space and not someone who could find loneliness in her own company, but everyone looked like they needed a pick me up, and one way or another, something as small as this could be all everyone needed to lighten the load on their shoulders before finally taking a nap of some sort before things started all over again. As far as Mia was aware everyone was waiting on reports from the stealthier heroes afterall, once that happened they could all take a damn good rest.
Dipping her head into one of the rooms, a head of green hair caught her attention. The room itself looked decent, solid size, wasn't being used by any of the officers on duty, cozy lookin' chairs...
"Hey Nimue. Mind if we all crowd in here for when the food comes?"
Assuming the other Heroine said yes, Mia would dip her head back out and whistle softly. "Hey! Hellhound's gonna be bringin' the food here. Get in if you want first grab at your orders!"
With that, she'd make her way into the room, looking for one of the bigger chairs opposite Nimue. The Blonde heroine herself was in her hero costume, but given the cold night they were having she was also wearing a baggy looking parka over her shoulders. Not zipped up, but it definitely helped considering her outfit gave her a mostly bare torso, and the hero officials insisted she wear it during official duties.
"So, Nimue...long day huh?" She chuckled a little, cracking her neck to either side and leaning back in the chair...it creaked, and her eyes shot open, but as it seemed it wasn't about to collapse, she relaxed at least a little. "So er...what they got you on for when shit goes pear shaped? Don't think I saw you in any of my meetings, but then again, our powersets aren't exactly er..." She gestured between them, the healing Heroine and the Destructive Oni. "Similar..."

Food. Foooood. Food Food Food Food. Food. It's time for food. Yes. Aw yeah. It's time to chow down on some delicious morsels with the gang.
The mood inside this place is...it's somewhat somber and serious. All this planning, all this work just to make sure nothing horrible happens like the previous events. Here it was, the first time in a while that they have drop on, that they are in the know! They're in command of this invasion, not the other way around. Of course people are gonna be antsy about it. Surveillance, points of entry, closing off exits, potential fallbacks, potential explosions to occur, all of that is looking in the background. The backdrop to their grand operation, while the performers circle up in the backstage. All the stage hands ready. The main stars quietly getting their bearings together.
Soheiwa was just quietly messing around with a deck of cards, 'quietly' shuffling them in several different ways. The whole day has been nonstop legal work and conference after conference. Surveillance, and info gathering. Some very few people have gone out to do something. Here she was, sitting on a chair mix and matching different forms of shuffling with this deck, trying to get a full house and top deck it. It's a nice habit to have when one is stressed out about stuff. She sees a horned figure, Mia, walking as if she was expecting something. Hmm? Perhaps it was something that was discussed in chat, like say the food that was promised? Yes, before Freya had the grand idea of providing all of them with food. Food that wasn't given by this place, so actual actual food. She went out to get it, and it appears as if Mia was getting antsy about it. Like, almost everyone here asked Freya for something. Even the weird looking guy with the mask. So she can't help but wonder if she'll struggle to bring in the food.
She peaks in Mia entering the room with Nimue in, and comes in as well. "Is this where we're all gonna eat?" She replies while shuffling the deck with one hand, slightly interrupting their conversation without thinking. "Should we let Hellstorm know? Should I let the others know or something?" She pauses for a second, and without letting them answer, goes "I"mma let everyone. Be back in a bit." She places the cards in her blazer pocket and heads out to tell the others about the place, screaming it to anyone in each room, leaving the two to talk it out.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma was lurking in the chat, like always. When the discussion of food was brought up. His stomach grumbled and his mind turned from the computer screen he was staring at to his stomach. He could definitely go for food, or a coffee, anything really to save him from the boredom. They had made him stare at plans all day. Aerial footage of the docks, pictures and videos they had asked him to take the other night with his birds eye view.
"Whatever. I can't stare at this all niiiight!" He groaned as he got up from his office chair, setting it spinning as he walked away. "Do I need my suit?" He had never met any of the other hero's in person before and he doubted if they would recognize him even in his outfit. Dressed in a plain button up shirt and slack he almost passed for a police officer, if they kept their shirts untucked and hadn't ironed their pants in weeks.
He poked his head out of the office he had been crammed into and saw a few people milling about in the hall. He recognized one girl, she was Redhorn. The #1, and about as easy to hide as a sword in a coin purse.
"Y'all said food?" He called out to them. " Are they bringing coffee too?"

The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.
Looking at her phone when she was bored wasn't a habit of Hachi's, though she had grown up with them and used chats in her teen and early adult years. She had grown out-of-touch with the language of the next generation as she herself grew out-of-touch with most of the world. Still, when she was sitting atop the local police office in the biting, brutal October cold, where she had gone simply to get a moment to spread her wings, there was nothing else really to do. Thus she had seen the messages start flooding in about a food train and softly smiled. Hah, this was the sort of thing she'd seen in the student chat from time to time, too.
It was amusing to say the least. And although she did consider letting her fellow heroes have this little break without her--she wasn't scared of crowds, in fact she preferred them, but in those small office rooms she was worried she would break something--she had not had nearly enough to eat in the last twenty-four hours.
So she added her small request: simple fruit juice, no food or the like. She just needed sugar. And of course she would repay the person who was bringing it in.
I wonder if the students believe us all to be too old or too mature for these sort of things...
Hachi chuckled to herself, sliding her phone back into the pocket at her hip, and flew from the rooftop down the back of the station, then through the rear entrance.
She at least decided to take off her awkward, clunky helmet rather than walk in with it on. It wasn't like she was trying to hide her identity, nor would she be mistaken for somebody else--she was a humanoid bee, it was somewhat impossible to confuse her. She placed the helmet at the desk she'd been given, adjusted her arm-length gloves and thigh-height boots, and made her way down towards where she heard the most noise. Surprising absolutely nobody the first and loudest voice she heard came from Red Horn, whose signature horn Hachi only glimpsed before her head had pulled back into the room in question. Hachi softly shook her head.
...I suppose I thought the same at their age.
As she approached another hero, this one dressed in quite a bold costume she didn't recognize, bolted out into the hallway to start shouting directions to the room in at everyone who had missed it the first time. For once, Hachi's blank expression suited her current mood perfectly. When had she gotten so old? Or were heroes just getting even younger? Was she that out-of-touch?
She stopped in the doorway, needing to duck slightly as to not tap her antenna against the frame, and found not only Red Horn inside, but a far more familiar face as well. "Ah, good evening, Nakahara-san. It's good to see you again. Red Horn," she offered a polite nod towards them both, "I hope I am not interrupting you?"
Another voice called down the hallway and she stopped to listen, unable to quite see who'd made the request for coffee. At this hour? Lord, she had started getting old. She glanced at Mia and Nimue, small mouth in a small smile, before calling in an audible but far gentler tone: "There is a pot in the break room, if they aren't. It was refreshed a short while ago, though I can't say it will be better or worse than coffee from McDolans."

LIKE A SAILOR, I FALL PREY TO FOOD'S SIREN CALL. INVESTIGATIVE WORK WAS GLAMOUR-LESS. Forget the action-packed lives of the crime-show stars, most of Tobias’s life was spent hunched in front of a computer or nosing around crime scenes after-the-fact. Very rarely did he get to go into the field. Following the notification that went-out in the pro-hero chat, the red-headed gentleman had been unceremoniously summoned to Minato Police HQ for debriefing. Debriefing was nothing new. Visiting events undercover was nothing new. But an operation of this magnitude was very new to the young man. Pro heroes were being pulled from all over to perform perhaps the biggest sting operation ever, and Toby was in the thick of it.
He’d been holed-up in a cramped, barren office when the message went-out announcing that food would happen. Normally, the redhead avoided social interaction whenever possible and polite, but… hours upon hours of sterile, white walls would make anyone desperate for social interaction. He found his way to the seating area, after navigating down the labyrinthine halls of the station—already, there were heroes gathering there. En route, he crossed paths with the eccentric that had made a nightmare of his library. Then, he encountered an unfamiliar man who stood in the hall. Tobias nodded to each as he passed, though there was a bit of strain in his features as he passed Soheiwa, before slipping into the seating area. Inside were two fellow staff members from school—the nurse, and the woman who looked like a bee—and the #1 Hero Redhorn.
“Good evening,” Tobias said coolly, offering only his greeting before crossing the threshold into the room. It had dawned-on him that, perhaps, it was no longer evening. He had lost track of time after hours upon hours of peering at the screen. He padded to one of the unoccupied chairs and—without much ceremony—fell into it.
“My name is Tobias Murakami,” he offered to Redhorn, speaking clearly enough that the man in the hall could hear him. He didn’t expect Redhorn or the man in the hall to know him, given Tobias’s tendency to work behind the scenes, “Hero Name, The Informant. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Tobias let his head loll back, removing his glasses. He couldn’t pull all-nighters like he used to. The glasses were slipped into the chest-pocket of his shirt, before the burly man rubbed his eyes. He then rubbed his chin. Scratchy. He needed to shave.
“If I doze off, would someone please tell me when the food is here?” the redhead lifted his bleary green gaze to make the request, before letting his head fall back onto the back of the couch.
He wasn’t a fan of McDolan’s at the worst of times, but the desperation of a late night made him willing to try anything. Requests had been taken, and Tobias had politely requested a chicken sandwich with fries and an iced tea, promising the food-runner reimbursement upon arrival. He would sit quietly for a spell, gauging the general flow of the conversation, debating as to whether or not he should stay quiet or jump-in.
“They have me working undercover,” Tobias said conversationally, towards the ceiling, “Gathering information wherever possible, providing eyes on the ground… you know, the usual. Got fancy glasses and a bone mic and everything.”
Perhaps this was Tobias’s roundabout way of telling the heroes to keep an eye out for him, or to avoid him if they saw him. Not that they’d recognize him, with the get-up that they were putting him in.
“How combat-oriented heroes do this so routinely is a mystery to me,” he said with a chuckle, rubbing his face. He was a support hero, and had no illusions as to otherwise, “Working in the field, in the fray, makes me so nervous.”
| ft. food party people 630 words TL,DR: tobias greets nimue, mia, and hachi, takes a seat, and introduces himself. en route, he nods to both soheiwa and toma. |

Post by Wagyu Utari on Oct 15, 2019 16:56:48 GMT -4
Good Lord, Wagyu was hungry. The entire day had been nothing but strategy meetings and watching security cameras with nothing happening. He was far from the type to get antsy without a good fight, but it’d been 12 hours straight of nothing but the bland beige-white walls of the police HQ, and the green of night vision cameras pointed down alleyways. It was mind-numbing.
Plus, it was Rocky’s birthday tomorrow. He hadn’t even wrapped his present for the poor boy, and it was possible he might not get the time to at all.
So, when he’d seen the call go out in the hero chat for an impromptu dinner party, he was immediately interested. He did think that their choice of food at first was a little unprofessional, but the growling of his belly forced him to reconsider. He needed to get something in him, or at this rate he’d be going to bed hungry.
He made his way up to Room 4B, and squeezed his way through the doorway as best he could. “I see Hellhound isn’t here yet,” he grunted. All the chairs in the room were far, far too small for his huge frame, and when he sat down, he could feel the chair strain under his weight. Still, it stood strong, and didn’t buckle.
“Hello, Red Horn, Witch Doctor.” He greeted each in turn. He didn’t recognize the other man in the room, and wasn’t sure if he was staying or not. Hell, he didn’t even know if he was another pro. “How’s the day been for you two? Considering your complaints in the chat, Red, I can’t imagine it’s been much more interesting for you than it has for me.”

Post by Freya A. Valentine on Oct 15, 2019 18:31:03 GMT -4
Food is good at anytime of day.
Albeit morning, day, night or in the middle of the fucking night. What first became a routine patrol for Freya slowly became a tour of the city. Which involves her running around the city and trying out various foods and taking in the landscape. Albeit a rather amusing hobby for is her trying to find the best lemonade places around. After doing some rounds and trying out various drinks, she has found the place she was looking for. A lil shop that has a variety of snack foods that remind her of home with the crowning item she has procured is a strawberry lemonade.
As Freya got her drink of the gods, she checked the pro-hero chat and Red Horn needed some food. In a sign of goodwill and general boredom, she offers to buy some food from the nearby fast food joint and she herself was pretty damn hungry. After a bit of figuring out and general ordering a laundry list of foods for herself and Red Horn, she was going to head out until she got more orders from every damn hero in the office. Give or take she could say refuse but fuck it and went back into the line and order enough food for the damn office. The receipt for the damn thing looked like a sash that could loop her body 10 times over. The wait was even longer as she saw the poor fast food workers face do everything in their power to make sure they have everything. After about a good twenty minutes of waiting and chatting with the office they come with her order. The issue of money came up for a slight moment but then she just used the Hellhound budget for the squad for the food, not their pay but stuff for equipment. In hindsight that could be a huge risk but they could always just steal from the actual riot police. Not like they;ll need it. In that moment, she could feel the entire damn place stare at her as she carries the assload of fast food out of the door with zero signs of struggling. With this amount of fast food you can kill a whale with the amount of calories all this shit has. But the upside is that place has good food and feeling the sheer amount of power as people saw her walk out with the orders. She then proceeds to get one more strawberry lemonade for Yellow Jacket, the stares she gets remain constant. One could explain the situation but the satisfaction of doing this outweighs the bullshit.
It was pretty much a walking show when she was walking back to the station with all the orders. Luckily her body is pretty warm so it keeps the orders and the general challenge of getting all this damn food up the stairs. But once she arrived at the designated place, she busted in through the door and said the following in her normal tone of voice.
“OK ya’ll I got the food, we eat like kings before this mission starts !”, she declared as she plops the food onto the table where everyone is either surprised, neutral or just relieved that the food got there on time. She hands the other strawberry lemonade to Yellow Jacket and then proceeds to eat her vast amounts of nuggets without delay.

Post by Nimue Nakahara on Oct 17, 2019 3:56:09 GMT -4
Nimue Nakahara Yuuei's Nurse It was no longer really time to hide, she had asked for food that meant she would join the party, which was why she got up to switch on the lights and open the door, which was almost directly timed by Mia jumping in and she nodded, "Yea, I thought this was the best room." Space enough, nice fancy chairs and no one was here to bother them. She wasn't dressed in hero outfit but for her it was a simple cape and a belt and bag to take first aid stuff with her, she was trying to hide her identity but she wasn't entirely sure if it was possible. Not with the interview and all, although, to be fair, they had hidden her face on tv more than she had thought they would do, that did not mean that they did the same for her father, what was their idiocy about. She should show confidence like Mia but she simply leaned on her hand and waited for the others to show up, she wasn't entirely sure what to say to Mia but nodded when she mentioned the long day.
She nodded again and wondered how to answer, "They hm... well they keep me here for healing but also in some weird sense to keep an eye on me I think, after the threats of Crowley they seemed to be rather unsure what to do with me." Hence why she was in no meetings, hence why she wasn't really doing anything and so on. It was a miracle she had moments before but who knows what tomorrow brought to her. She looked up surprised at a pro-hero she wasn't sure if she had seen before but let her, because that's what Nimue assumed by the sound of the voice, inform the others, Mia had called out but it was good for someone to wait outside and just make sure Freya would know where to be, they should make it easier for her not more difficult to find them, but she left the door open.
Nimue could easy look out of the door and again a hero that she did not know showed up at the door and asked for coffee. "I don't think so, I think Hellhound takes what we ordered." She wasn't sure if this was the person that carried one of the names she did not know, "But there is a coffee machine here, behind the door and I heard it's good coffee." Obviously the higher ups got better coffee than the machine in the canteen, but unlucky for them, Nimue had simply claimed this room, not that she knew it was a potential issue, she seriously had no eye for that right now. She would get up in offer to make it, if that's what the person wanted. But in the corner of her eye someone else entered and she smiled, happy to see another familiar face in this situation, "good evening Tsutsuji-san." Before she turned her attention back to the coffee machine and try to figure out how it worked. But as Hachi pointed out there was coffee in the break room, she went back to her seat, "I have no idea, I don't drink much coffee, but that might be easier than working out how this thing works." She made a vague thumb gesture to the machine behind them.
Maybe her salvation was more than just Hachi, she did recognize the Librarian but she did not know him but as he spoke, she put her chin on her folded hands and looked at him, she should introduce herself if he did not know her name but he looked at Mia, so she did not say anything, another support hero hm, that was great, maybe she could hang out with him from time to time. She was sort of stuck here, maybe they would use her as bait later, she seriously had no idea what the plan was. She looked up, gave a strange sort of wave without speaking, she was not getting uncomfortable but the fact that Mia spoke about meetings and King Taurus seemed to be exhausted as well, she was wondering if she was really left out, "So you all have been in meetings or have gotten a job?" She said surprised because it all seemed that that's why they were here, to take a break, have food and social interaction and now she started to pout, "Than what am I here for?"
But shortly after her question or maybe mini complaint, Freya appeared and she was sure people would forget her question, and that was fine, she went to find the drink that Freya had taken for her and went to sit back on her ass, simply watching the others. Well, it was not half so bad to be with the other heroes, it was bad that she was left out by the organisation.
Let's try making this a 48-hour posting thing so we skip after 48 hours have passed but you can jump back in when you have time again :)

"Oh I'm sure she'll find us." Mia idly commented to the next hero to enter a room before wiggling more comfortably into her own seat, offering Nimue some attention as she was trying to converse with the other heroine. She seemed to be on...watch? SOmething about someone named Crowley? "Crowley?" She'd mimic the question from her brain. "Who's that?" Whether she got an answer or not she'd narrow her gaze, curious what was going in and either listening or displaying her curiosity. It was good to know Nimue was still on recovery detail incase anyone got injured, but even then, to have her taking a back line to everything cause of something that happened...it had her curious to say the least.
Still, it seemed with everyone filing in they were getting busier sooner rather than later, and Mia just welcomed everyone in as they pleased and as Hellhound finally arrived, she rose from her seat, rubbing her hands together. "Aw hell yeah! Gimme my burgers!" She'd rush into the pile of fast food and start to rip her orders from the pile, careful not to spill any of the drinks or the like but careful to make sure she had her orders too. THe moment she had her burgers and chicken strips and all the orders of fries that came with the numerous meals, she'd start to take the burgers apart, pealing away any greens, tomatos, onions and the like, and leaving them cheesy, meaty, bacony piles on buns, even adding some chicken strips to each burger to make them extra meaty. "Nice work hellhound. Remind me to give you the cash once they let me change out of my hero clothes and back into something with pockets."
pulling her burgers around herself like a little cemicircle bordering her little eating zone from the rest of the table, she looked to the gruff looking fellow who dubbed himself the 'informant', quirking a brow as she grew curious once again during this little meal. "The informant huh? Undercover? What they just got you on some sorta code name type thing, working with criminals, or do you got like some..." She gestured over her own face. "Shapeshifting kinda deal?" She was curious in either case. Back during her early vigilante days, she worked with criminals once or twice before her face got out there, with the undercover aim of just learning where more where to take out.

"Food night, food night, food night, food night, food night." Soheiwa quietly mutters as she follows the food arrived to its destination. The person who picked it up seemed to be handling all these orders well and good. Like, all those bags on her person, with no sign of shaking or struggling. She's taking it like a champ, bravo, bravo. If it were her she would have just put them all in a small cart...or maybe throw them across the hall with her quirk. She has some practice with throwing stuff, maybe she can do with food? Yeah no, she's not gonna risk it, not here.
However, she is an impatient fellow. So she just grabbed her order from the pile and went ahead and entered the room where the rest of the heroes were at. She did her job, yelling it out to them throughout the halls. So might as well wait there. There's a lot of people here: the already met Mia and Nimue, this shaggy haired fellow, Beetm, Big Man, and Big Man 2, ox edition. She needs to talk more with her fellow heroes, she can't just call them by degrading nicknames. Which is why they have food night! Food night will make sure that any uneasy feelings between then disappear!
"Heya!" She hears someone talking about disguises, finally someone speaking her language! She looks at both Mia and Tobias, with a mischievous looking expression on her face, completely involuntary on her behalf. "Soheiwa, We met before, now what's this about undercover work? Because if you need some tips and pointers on disguises, well...ehehe...I'm your gal." She bites into a fry she grabbed from the bag. "If you're nervous about putting yourself in undercover, I can just help out and tell you what to do. I've done my share of disguises. Trust me." She smirks.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "Eh I guess it's better than nothing." He grumble a little after the two other Hero's mentioned that none had been delivered but that there was a pot in the room they were in. Toma like his coffee strong, inhuman levels of espresso shots in each cup.
He squeezed past everyone as they all poured into the room and filled a styrofoam cup up with the coffee in the pot. It was a normal coffee, so he wouldn't need sugar or cream, but it was a little cool. It had been sitting in the pot for a few minutes and would have been pleasantly warm by anyone else's standards. Toma didn't drink coffee to anyone else's standards though, he drank black lava.
He popped his quirk on, just a little release and held his hand over the mouth of the cup until steam started to rise from the coffee. "I've watched a lot of you guys in the chat." He took his first sip seconds after turning his quirk back off. "Never thought we would meet like this though."
He had watched the chat like a hawk, no pun intended, since they let him in. Hed spoken up a few times, but wanted to get a better look at everyone before he decided they were trustworthy. Just because the government liked them mean they were all good people.
"I've seen you in action before, Red Horn." He smirked at her, but he wasn't going to say where he'd seen her. No point in getting anyone in trouble.

The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.
Hachi fluttered into the room to make way in the door for others to come in, recognizing one one appearance alone as another member of UA's staff. Tobias, or "The Informant". Curious hero name. Perhaps he was less of a conventional hero and more of a detective? It fit as he describe his work for the raid being "undercover". Well, he'd certainly be one for it compared to the more recognizable heroes in the room. Imagining Red Horn acting as a villain was ridiculous as it was funny. Then a large bull pushed his way through and Hachi was glad she had moved before she'd been run over by him.
"Hello Murakami-san, and...King Taurus, yes?" She gave both of the men a polite bow in greeting, then took a spot against the wall, closer to where Nimue was trying and failing to get a different coffee machine to work. It seemed getting the coffee from the other room was the best solution for now. She smiled slightly at Nimue as she questioned her reasons for being here, if she isn't being dragged about to strategy meetings or the like. "Would it be too blunt to say 'you are the only one among us with healing capabilities, that's why'? I wouldn't worry, Nakahara-san. I have only been called in for a few conversations, most of this time I've been pulling my hair out trying to find more information..."
She glanced at Tobias. "I much prefer being on patrol than being unable to act, but on this wide a scale there is little I can do out there without causing problems."
At that moment a mountain of food bags on legs came in. Hachi tilted her head, momentarily in awe at the amount this woman could carry, before the one she assumed to be Hell Hound came up to her and gave her the bottle of juice she'd requested. Hachi's small mouth curled into a tiny smile. "Thank you very much. How much was it, so I can pay it back as soon as possible?"
The flamboyantly dressed hero returned to snag their--her?--food from the pile, introducing herself as Soheiwa before she went to talk to Tobias about being their shared sets of skills. Hachi uncapped the bottle and raised it to her mouth. From her lips, which were too small to properly sit on the rim of the bottle, a long straw-like tongue uncurled and slipped into the pinkish liquid inside. Tiny bubbles drifted from the end of it as she sipped, hoping nobody would make a big deal of it.
A small flash of light caught her inhumanly large eyes and she glanced toward the fellow who'd been asking for coffee, as he used what appeared to be his quirk to do...something to the drink, apparently heating it up before he drank it. Hmm. She had never seen a quirk like that, but something about it was slightly familiar.
...oh, of course. He's the newest one, isn't he? V...
Her tongue curled back up into her mouth so she could speak. "You are...what was it. Vega, yes? After the star? My partner has mentioned you a few times. Serperior." She gave him a polite nod, entirely unaware of their connection outside of some passing conversation. "It's a pleasure to meet you in person."

LIKE A SAILOR, I FALL PREY TO FOOD'S SIREN CALL. Tobias sat casually in his chair, knees together, elbow on the armrest. His hazel eyes drifted towards the singular entrance into the breakroom. He couldn't help but feel a little star-struck, as more and more professional heroes made their way into the main room. At the very least, he knew their faces from various news reports and publicity. He was in the company of practical superstars.
Though he was admittedly relieved to see faces both familiar, on a personal level, and totally unfamiliar faces. It helped assuage the sense of "really not belonging" there.
Hellhound arrived with good, and what ensued could best be described as a feeding frenzy. People clamoring for their bags as they were deposited. Tobias waited for the chaos to subside before rising to retrieve his bag and his drink. He then retreated back to his corner of the sofa.
Red Horn was addressing him as he had dated to take a sip of his iced tea. He nodded his head, listening politely as she tried to unpack what his hero name implied.
"I specialize in investigative cases," he confirmed, "Supplying heroes, such as yourself, with the information they need in the field. Usually I just process crime scenes, but this time… well… not this time."
The words came haltingly. Was it nervousness about the coming mission? Or nervousness about speaking to such a renowned hero when he was so… lackluster. He could feel himself turning inwardly in embarrassment, when Soheiwa interjected herself.
She seemed absolutely effervescent over the fact that Tobias was going in disguise, offering her expertise. The muscle-bound man shifted uncertainly in his chair.
"Wh… what is your experience with hair dye? Or semi-permanent tattoos?" he asked in conciliatory tones, his cheeks starting to color. They had given him a disguise-- and a rather revealing one, at that-- which embarrassed the timid librarian. But he didn't want to seem impolite by refusing Soheiwa, so he offered a compromise-- a request for assistance with the things he'd never used.
He half-considered taking his food, repaying Hellhound, and retreating to his little office to sleep, but his path was blocked by those that'd trickled in.
Begrudgingly, Tobias opened his bag and fished fries out one at a time. Perhaps the company would be good for him. He could treat this as an endeavor at gathering intel-- perhaps that'd make it more palatable. | ft. food party people 397 words TL,DR: toby exchanges pleasantries with mia and soheiwa and ponders escape |

“Greetings, Soheiwa, Yellow Jacket.” Wagyu gave them both a polite bow in turn. Soheiwa was almost certainly not her hero name, but in an informal setting such as this, there was no use in adhering to codenames entirely. Red Horn had brushed his question off, but Nimue answered, saying she’d been on call in case anyone needed healing and expressing that she felt more than a little useless if everyone was in meetings. Yellow Jacket already had a good reply, and Wagyu had to concur. “With so many heroes gathered in one place, someone like Crowley might take it as an opportunity to send a message. A villain with too much confidence, or a group actually strong enough to take all of us on. I hate to sound paranoid, but the possibility is enough to want a healer present.”
A massive woman carrying an equally massive pile of food burst through the door at that moment, and Wagyu blinked in surprise. Not because of how much she was carrying, but that it looked like she hadn’t forgotten a single thing. For someone who’s attitude had seemed, well quite frankly as professional as Red Horn’s, it was a nice surprise. While everyone else scrambled to swipe their food before someone else did, Wagyu calmly reached into the pile, retrieved his salad, slid his share of the bill over to Hellhound, and sat back down.
Red Horn must’ve been serious about the protein talk, seeing how much of the poor burgers she ripped out. Wagyu sighed. “You can’t live on protein alone, Red.” He commented.
After that, he started on the salad. To the other heroes in the room, watching him struggle with such a small plastic fork in his big meaty hands would certainly look strange, but to him that was just the way it was. He could’ve asked Hellhound to pick up a larger one, but he didn’t want to complicate the order anymore than it was already.
Oh yes, there was something else he should ask. Wagyu turned to Nimue again, and fished a card from his pocket. It was a cute dinosaur-themed birthday card, showing a T Rex holding a wrapped gift on the front. Inside, there was printed text saying ‘Hope you have a raw-ly nice birthday!’ and some handwriting; ‘To Rocky’ and ‘From Wagyu’.
“Excuse me, Witch Doctor, but one of the children at the orphanage is a big fan of yours, and, well, it’s his birthday tomorrow. Would you mind signing his card?”
