You can try to ignore it Try to run from it But you can't deny it The fact that the heart of a healer beats within you Badum... Badum... Badum... The erratic beating of her heart was the first sound that woke up Elise from her light slumber in the Eisenberg residence within Tokyo. In the wake of the events that had transpired the girl felt conflicted, lost and uncertain and like typical of her, Elise went to seek sanctuary in her home, as if the comfort and solitude of her room would bring her the peace of mind she needed to make an important decision. It was still way before dawn, climbing out of her bed the pink-haired lass approached the nearby desk at the other side of the room and scooped up the tablet, scrolling the data on it. Her father's legacy... his research that was entrusted onto her. Even now Elise wasn't certain what to think, was she doing this because she truly wanted to do it herself, or because she wanted to do it for Tetsuko's sake? A soft sigh escaped the girl's lips as she lowered the tablet on her bed and decided to make her way to a place she had not been at in months: her father's study. Just as expected, upon turning on the light the room looked as good as new, well-maintained which was no doubt something her mother was responsible for. She stepped inside, her gaze wandering around the room. Just like always complex medical books filled rows upon rows on his bookshelves, and yet what drew her attention was the desk at the end of the room, a press of the switch of the lamp illuminating the desk. A small book rested on top of the desk, a hand reaching quietly for it as she started to flip its pages. How silly, it was a diary of that time she visited the hospital to get a look at the workplace of her parents, the mixed childish writing of herself and her father's more neat scribbles swiftly pulling her into a bout of nostalgia. She could remember it as if it was only a few days ago. Back when she was still little, her father holding her proudly by the hand as he introduced her to each and every member of his team. It was such a joyous event, but there was a particular moment that struck her, a certain part of the memory she had forgotten. "Papa, if you had a quirk, would you have become a hero?" Yet the question earned a joyous laughter from the crowd as one of her father's colleagues gently ruffled her head. "Elise, you don't need a quirk to be a hero. Everyone here in this room, including your mom and dad are heroes. Do you know why?"The childish her raised a hand to her chin, as if thinking carefully about the question. "Because you help people?" The man smiled proudly at her answer, flashing her a grin while giving her a thumbs-up. "That's right! We are the heroes of the hospital~"Closing the book she found her gaze looking at the frame on the desk, of her parents and her dad's research team surrounding her wearing the way too oversized doctor coat of her father. "How long have I been searching..." the girl whispered softly, approaching the large cabinet where a spare coat of her father was hanging over the cabinet and with a slight swish she pulled it around her. "It's not that I didn't desire to become a hero, it is just that I wanted to become a different hero than those the people at U.A desire to become." That was right, ever since she gave Tetsuko her first kiss, ever since she vowed to save her beloved Tetsuko no matter what injuries she would suffer, Elise had walked a path. She might had strayed from it along the way, but in the end she always found her way back toward it. In the end it was in her blood, it was a calling she couldn't deny. "Doctor Eisenberg?" A soft chuckle escaped from behind her, making Elise spin around nervously as she spotted her mother smiling calmly at her. "Your father's coat suits you well~" It was a tender smile, a genuine warmth radiating from it that she felt was more strong than ever. "Mom... I think I finally understand it now, a way for me to be a true hero."Her mother raised an eyebrow, a curious look in her eyes upon which Elise would answer her with a smile of her own. "I can't protect everyone, I can't defeat every villain, so I merely have to become the greatest doctor in the world! So that neither Tetsu or anyone else will become a victim to a villain."Her mother nodded her head gently in return to those words, while Elise ran out of the room, seemingly determined by her choice while her mother looked at the frame on the desk and whispered softly. "Such a naive dreamer, she really is growing to be just like you darling, but she might turn that dream into reality."Meanwhile Elise had returned to her room, searching for a particular napkin that had a number on it and called. "Can you please redirect me to Taizen Hideyoshi, tell him it's Elise von Eisenberg?"She waited for the man to get to the phone, upon which she would speak. "Can you please meet me at Tokyo's Hospital at nine o clock in the morning? I want you to hear my answer to your offer, and make a statement."And with those words she was preparing herself, in the end this was her path to travel, a path she chose not just for Tetsuko's sake. This path was hers, a path to ensure she would keep her happiness, a calling that was fitting for an Eisenberg. Elise von Eisenberg was ready to answer the call to heroism

"You got a phone call. It's from Elise Von Eisenberg."
Taizen fumbles around with a pen, finishing up one section of the demanded work he was ordered to do so. Getting ready to work on the computer, he received a call, and was told that it was from the girl. He looks at the phone with a very slight raised brow, as if he was surprised at this. It's been a few days since that visit, and he was at least expecting a couple of weeks. Maybe 2 to 3 weeks max, but to hear from her this fast was a bit...well, can't deny that she had spunk. Perhaps 'manic energy' was a better descriptor for what she had, contrasting her serious yet affable demeanor. He reaches for the phone and accepts the call.
"Hideyoshi here. Is this Eisenberg I'm talking to?"
"Can you please meet me at Tokyo's Hospital at nine o clock in the morning? I want you to hear my answer to your offer, and make a statement."
Taizen can only softly nod his head in agreement. "Hmmm...Suppose this is related to the offer, though it's odd to organize it in this form." he gently taps the pen on his desk. "Seems like a bit of a hassle to organize immediately. But I'll try to arrange my schedule to meet you there. I would guess you would like to speak more of it over there, so I'll leave it at that." He says goodbye and hangs up, resting his hands over his back of the head. "Hmm. Kids these days sure think fast." His half closes glare reached to the ceiling, deep in thought. Why tell him at the hospital? True, she has a close connection to medicine overal, but why there? "What are you planning, Eisenberg…" He muses to himself.
[The Next Day]
Early. It was too damn early. He could only do much with his morning preparation. Why must work be early. Why must her meeting be this early. If she were to say that it would take place around 1 PM, then he could use this time to set up a coffee, make himself a nice breakfast, all of the required necessities for a clear mind. Such are the simple desires of a government employee, he thinks to himself as he hops on the train. Station Schedule seems to be alright, but he usually prefers to take the train earlier. Sometimes he gets lucky and gets a seat, other times he just stands in place. Seems he was blessed today. Must be a good sign for what is about to happen. He sits there, looking through his phone, dressed up in a more formal appearance than when he last met Elise. The only signs of his usual apathetic nature was the hairstyle, something that most government works usually don't have. And, of course, the novelty t-shirt of the day hiding beneath his dress shirt.
...Hmm. Tokyo Hospital. What happened there? It seems to be a bit too specific. Does Mrs. Von Eisenberg work there per chance, or has done any notable cranial surgeries there? Is she using that as her platform to determine her choice? Perhaps. This was a more public that he would have liked. A simple 'yes' or 'no' over the phone would have sufficed, but hey, kids love to make a show out of everything these days. Can't blame them. Anyone else stationed there related to her, maybe? He recalls a hero working there from time to time on loan, Witch Doctor is what they call her. Perhaps its related to her? Or is it related to their chat? What did they mention that caused her to choose this specific place? Was it involved with their discussion about the Semper Fi incident? Were there any specific people who were connected to her that would cause her to pick this place? He can only think to himself so many questions, but at the end of the day, he just doesn't know. If he had a mind reading quirk, that could be useful to extracting info...hmm. He swipes at his phone as the subway train continues on its path towards his destination. He'll find out soon enough.
Arriving at the destination, he looks at his phone. It's almost 9. A bit earlier than the required time, but he has a sneaking suspicion that she also arrived early. He looks around the entrance to the hospital. Nowhere in sight are any of the Eisenbergs, so perhaps they are inside. Maybe he'll find her in front of the waiting room...unless she got herself a special room. Seriously, all this effort where he could have just gotten it over the phone. He can only shake his head in bemusement as he enters the hospital, where upon the first thing he sees is Elise talking with the reception. Adjusting his glasses, he walks up to her. "Hello there, Eisenberg. Fancy meeting you here. Have I arrived early?" he says as a joke, while continuing to speak in his usual bored tone. Taizen adjusts his blazer, finding it a bit more stuffier than usual. Perhaps he has an aversion to hospitals, who knows. It's hard to read this man when the only expression on his face is as |=\ . "Odd place to pick for us to meet. Have you or your mother worked here before, perchance?" He asks her, hoping to get an answer out of her odd request.
If anything, this was starting to interest Taizen. It appears as if Elise was making an initiative, making the first move so to speak. He's usually in control in these sorts of situations, and yet he has no idea what is about to happen now. To be on the receiving end of a one-sided conversation...it feels intriguing, to say the least. Would be a damn shame if she placed all this effort just to publicly say no to the offer right in his face...although now that he's thinking about it, it sounds like the sort of thing she would do.

It had taken a lot of effort to prepare everything for her plan, after all, it was perhaps one of the more far-fetched ideas she had in quite a while, but nonetheless it seemed her mother approved of her idea and had, even without knowing the details used her influence in Tokyo Hospital to aid her in the matter that would unfold today. As a result everything was in place, and when Taizen entered the lobby of the hospital and spotted Elise, he would no doubt notice a few things, the first being that her unnatural long pink hair was cut short to the length of her shoulders, and that she was not wearing a school uniform, instead she was wearing a stylish doctor coat. "A little~ but that makes today all the more easier for me Taizen-san~" Elise chimed with a brief smile while she nodded at the receptionist who handed Taizen a badge of sorts upon which Elise would guide him along the corridors of the hospital.
"Indeed, this hospital has quite the history with my family. My mother still works here, although she is on leave due to her injuries currently, and I used to work her as an intern during my medical studied prior to my enrollment into U.A. My father also conducted pharmaceutical research here, and this is also the place where he was murdered by Thunder Shock."
She spoke softly, her expression soft and calm despite the painful revelation at the end till they reached an elevator, a press of the button allowing it to open for them to step inside. "Tell me Taizen-san, what do you consider a hero?" She waited a moment for him to answer while the elevator started to take them upwards. "It's curious how society altered the focus of what a hero is. I realized it might be why I grown to dislike the educational system at U.A, or rather perhaps it's the fact I felt different from the other students."
She smiled weakly as she continued. "While studying at U.A I noticed a majority of the students seem to perceive that the title of a hero stands firmly with the purpose of fighting villains and protecting the innocent, and often if someone doesn't follow that purpose they are ridiculed, it happens more often than you imagine, even the so called 'Number Two' among the students preaches it like a motto." A brief laugh escaped her lips as the elevator finally reached their destination, the ward intended for brain-related injuries and once they stepped outside Elise started guiding the man further along the corridor.
"But at its foundation, isn't a hero simply someone who has the desire, and the means to do good, to help people? In that sense there are more heroes than just the ones fighting villains. Firefighters for example could be considered a hero under this definition."
They arrived at an office of a doctor, a plate next to the door reading: Doctor Eisenberg, upon which she opened the door and stepped inside the room. "I was ignorant of this, I kept thinking that because I didn't fit their definition of a true hero, that I couldn't and shouldn't be a hero. I'm not strong enough to defeat all villains, nor protect every civilian." She turned toward Taizen, a look of determination in her eyes. "Which means I simply have to become a great enough doctor that the victims don't become casualties. I'll become a doctor, a hero who can save everyone that I can reach."
She clenched a fist and gestured toward the table where a map was waiting for Taizen. "That is my answer Taizen-san, I'm not just going to leave U.A, nor will I simply join your project, I'm going to become the best medical hero that there is. Which brings me to putting deed to word, after all actions speak louder than words."
If Taizen would open the map he would no doubt quickly realize it was the patient reports of a certain soldier from Semper Fi. "Among the patients in this hospital is a soldier, a survivor from the events at Semper Fi. He was part of the anti-Quirker force, tried to shoot me, upon which I replied in kind, but after he was rendered unconscious Thunder Shock attempted to kill him, the end result made me use my medical expertise to stabilize his condition, but unfortunately we later realized that saving him would prove to be more difficult than expected, since he actually had an undiscovered Quirk, which led to the damage to be greater than anticipated and currently his state is akin to a comatose, he's alive, but that's all there is to it."
She stepped behind the desk and took a seat, hands folding on her lap as she spoke.
"Surgeons and doctors from across the nation have come to inspect his condition, and they all have given up hope, which leads me to your offer. I will accept your invitation under the following conditions: One, assist me in contacting his family to gain permission to carry out a surgery to save him. Two, upon my success organize an official briefing about the man's recovery."
Her eyes sharpened as she explained further. "I want every news channel in the country to report on it, let them know a Quirker doctor saved a soldier from Semper Fi that everyone had given up hope for, that there is still hope for Quirkers and Non-Quirkers to live together in peace. However, I want to also use this to send a message to Thunder Shock, that we still stand defiant against his evil."
And now the last part. "I know that normally to become a pro-hero an examination has to be conducted, I want the government to consider this surgery my examination, after all if I succeed in carrying out a surgery everyone in the country has given up hope for, it should prove my ability as a doctor, all I desire is a license that gives me permission to provide medical assistance in emergencies, even on the field. Leave the fighting to others, but I won't let someone die because a hero is too busy punching a villain to care about evacuating an injured civilian."
She looked him straight in the eye as she finished. "In return you'll have me and all my skills at your disposal for this project of yours.

The choice of clothing should have been a huge hint for what was about to happen. A casual attire would have implied that it would be a simple quick meeting in the hospital, as a sort of way to give herself some courage in determining her answer. It seems to make the most logical sense. But no, since the last time he met her a few things have changed. One: her hair has been cut. Two: she was wearing a doctor's coat. Curious and curiouser. He only recognized her due to the hair color, if he were to be honest. Taizen can only muse on this sort of thing as she starts to talk to him with her usual casual yet serious tone.
Ah. So it comes down to this. This sounds a bit more personal, Taizen notes to himself. Here she was, earlier discussing about the importance of separating one's emotions from the job...and she picked this place. The place where her mother works. The place where she once worked. The place where her father worked. The place where her father died. A lot of connections roaming around in this place. Is this perhaps a sort of test for herself, to put her theory of separation to the test? If she can actually do what she preaches? He notes as she loses her calm facade, becoming more somber over this detail. Of course she did, her father died here. Anyone who has some semblance of human emotion would feel this way. "I see…" he muses softly, walking alongside her to the elevator. "His work was phenomenal in the medical field according to some departments... it was a shame to have him go this soon." he didn't know the man himself, so it would be rude to try to claim he himself had some sort of connection to him. Just keep it tact and short. Keep it professional.
"Hmm?" Entering the elevator, Elise asks him a simple question: what he thinks a hero is. "Legally, or what I personally believe?" He thinks about it. " A hero is nothing more than a legalized agent who works under the field of protecting the people. Take that as you will." He turns his head at her. He doesn't make a note of whether or not he personally believed it, Elise will probably pick up on that. She goes on how the answer, no matter what he said, would have been different due to societal changes and new views. Perhaps it was painted by new sorts of media, or the uprising of quirks made it more 'fantastical' that the only way to have it make some semblance of sense were to just...put them on a higher position. "Suppose heroism could also be blamed by icons such as Omegaman and western media outside Japan...but you have a point." Being different from the others, huh? Is this a perceived notion or was it born out of the public ridicule? He can only stare at her as she went on. "Well, a lot of people, not just kids, think that. Can't blame them. If they have power they would want to use it in some capacity." He notes down as she laughs a bit.
Arriving at an office (presumably either her mother's or some spare one given for this occasion, seeing the label on front), she continues on, discussing her recent thinking about being labeled a 'hero' and how she could go on this. As she does this, he looks around. Seems a bit quaint for an established brain surgeon, but some research papers were around highlighting her work. "Leaving behind one goal for another, interesting. Some would call that realistic, others would call that cowardly. Interesting." Though he couldn't help but slightly chuckle at the notion of preventing casualties. He turned his head to make sure she didn't see it, but the slight audible sound could be heard.
He was alerted to the map on the tap, along with some papers. She talks about her decision, on her stance on accepting the offer, and her goals in life. To see herself place a sort of restriction on herself, a test of sorts, in order to make herself accept the offer was a bit unheard of. He can only show slight bemusement at her insistence of using this soldier, someone she herself badly wounded under self defense and saved, as a test is a bit insensitive despite the overall beneficial goal. He himself was nothing more than a tool in this time, he's being used as the messenger to get all the proper paperwork in set for her little show. A bit ballsy for a teenager...no, it's the expected amount of guts to expect from her.
Her goals and intentions stated, with her wanting to make a public show of it, Taizen can only nod and cross his arms, thinking about it. He looks at Elise for a while, and after a moment, he simply sighs. "So that's what you want. A way to help without impediment. Abuse of power under justification. I see." He looks at the papers and the map, all detailing the soldier's misfortune. He thinks about the failed procedures, and how she herself has confidence in herself to do what many have called impossible. He looks at her. "If this works as intended, your family will receive more praise throughout the community. You would be part of the complex staff, and you would have more resources to continue aiding people. If you botch this up, not only will you have a harsh stain on your record, but you will give your family a negative stigma. Previous doctors have failed, and yet they didn't receive this much attention. Doing it live only serves as an amplifier. Failing live on television, stream...you will be treated as the dog of the medical field, someone whose ego got the best of them. Succeed, and you will be called the shining star of the next generation." He can only adjust his glasses as he says this, looking at Elise.
"...But you know this already. Thats why you want to make it public...Haah. Vey well." He pulls out his phone, preparing for the multiple phone calls, when he looks at her again. "It'll take a while to amass the right people, but we can use nearby stations to get the required publicity. You really want to do this right now, I'm presuming. You seem prepared for it."

Indeed, it was clear there was something different to the girl compared to their last meeting, as would soon become much more evident. When Taizen described the legal description of a hero being that they were a legalized agent who worked in the field of protecting the people, Elise was once more reminded of the term 'a glorified peacekeeper', yet she only nodded her head in his statement that famous heroes like Omegaman and western media were to blame for it, Soon the matter of her intentions were revealed, yet when he mentioned leaving behind one goal for another Elise shook her head lightly. "It isn't necessarily leaving behind, after all surely you know that my girlfriend is the currently labeled number one student at U.A, I can leave the act of fighting and protecting to her, while I tend to those that need to be saved." She chuckled briefly yet seeing him turn his head slightly made her muse for a moment, perhaps the audible sound catching her interest. She waited for his reaction, yet in the back of her head her thoughts were still running at full speed. She believed he would not object, after all for the government this deal only had positive opportunities, and if something went wrong it was she who would be the one to take the fall. "Pretty much~" She answered with a brief smile when he described what she hoped to get out of their deal. "Indeed, for your side there would be no downsides. If I succeed the civil relations between Quirkers and Non-Quirkers will improve, and the public will receive a moral boost against the increasing pressure criminal activity by the Kobayashi clan and radical groups like Eternity have been causing. If I were to fail, it would be I and my mother who take the blame, the government can easily wash their hands clean about this matter, so all things considered you have nothing to lose."
Yet...
"But I won't fail. You see, the reason most surgeons didn't dare to do this approach is because of the sheer difficulty that accompanies it. The patient's neural network is partly composed of metal, damage in this network has been the reason his body can't recover. To mend the damaged parts would require reconnecting said network, a microscopic version of soldering I believe the English term is called. However, such precision and hand and eye coordination is unheard of for most doctors, the amount of skill needed for it is by all means: inhuman for them."
She closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair. "Then again, surgeons also didn't get the proper training that would allow them to be on par with special forces snipers when it comes to aiming and shooting. With the special education I received during my time at U.A I can and will succeed where everyone else failed."
She nodded her head firmly in return to his question. "I have made the needed preparations, a surgery room is reserved for me, and aside from a colleague of my mother who will be monitoring her condition, all I will need is permission to use my quirk to create a clone of myself who can provide me with the tools I need during the operation."
When he pulled out his phone she nodded her head lightly "I thank you for your cooperation~ Of course, you will be able to oversee the surgery from the room adjacent to it, cameras will provide a direct feed to that room where you, any any media personel you deem suitable can see the operation. Fortunately only a handful of people know that the soldier is a Quirker, and are sympathetic to my cause, so in the eyes of the world this is a non-quirker, a man that the likes of Abbaddon would claim to be our enemy, ends up being saved by a Quirker. Although I do advise caution to ensure suitable security ends up being brought along, it's likely that if villains catch wind of this, they will try to interfere, after all if I succeed it will be a nasty thorn in their schemes."
She rose onto her feet and stretched her arms lightly into the air. "I will give you the time you need to make your calls, I myself will be making some final preparations for the surgery, after all, if I want my clone to be out for a long enough period I need to have consumed enough liquids to prevent dehydration."
She smiled briefly as she withdraw her own phone from her pocket. "I have to admit, it's odd that I'm not feeling nervous. Some might call it ridiculous, after all I'm about to conduct a surgery that the majority of Japan's medical practicioners call impossible, and yet I firmly believe I will succeed. It's not a fool's hope, it is as if I already considered the outcome a fact. Why? Because 'I' will be conducting this surgery. A big ego perhaps, or maybe it just shows that with the power I earned, I am now ready to carry the responsibilities that come with it." She nodded her head lightly at Taizen as she finished. "My father was a great pharmacist, and my mother a famous brain surgeon, I'll carry on their legacy and will surpass it today. I will do what people considered impossible." She put her phone back in her pocket and after opening the door next to the room they were in explained. "If you need privacy for your calls, this room is commonly used for my mother when she has extended hours at work, the walls are pretty thick so nobody will hear you outside the room, aside from the intercom that is placed, usually they use it to call a doctor during an emergency situation so you'll be able to make your calls undisturbed."
With everything prepared, all she could do was for Taizen to make the necessary preparations on his side, all for the grand idea of the young von Eisenberg. If she succeeded she would write history, but if she failed? The consequences would be devastating...

The pride of someone is nothing to be trifled at. It can make people do many things. Muster enough courage to do things one could consider impossible. Perform dangerous procedures to save a life. Put one's own reputation just to promote one’s own agenda. Sacrifice one line of career for another. Succeed or fail, one cannot stop someone once they place their pride along the line. All this organization, all this preparation, all this legal work...it’s nothing short of impressive for someone around that age.
A bit too much pride in herself, if you ask him.
“Hmm. Metal. Seems like something that can hamper progress in healing.” He makes note of that. If she can do this, it’ll be a massive breakthrough for similar people with quirks like this. No wonder she wants to make a big show of it. Think about it, if you were the young teenager who had a breakthrough in the field of cranial and brain surgery, you’ll be beloved by all...a bit too beloved. Hence the security. He may have to put in a word for at the very least one quirk user to survey outside the hospital, maybe one inside or on the roof. Although with what he claims about UAs training, might be a moot point if she’s targeted. He couldn’t help but wonder about these kids having what paramounts to military training. A bit overkill, maybe necessary considering what they re up against. Abbadon, thunders group, Eternity...it’s all a hassle to deal with. He ll have to make sure it doesn’t seem too obvious on the importance of this surgery...something that's against them since it’s being shown live. Maybe they can play it off as a special report. Maybe use that ego to their advantage. “Prodigious daughter of famed surgeon performs her first surgery.” Make everything but the man s situation and quirk open. He’ll let the station know that. They’re usually a sucker for that kind of thing.
“For this situation, considering the hospital is allowing you to use it, quirk usage should be allowed. Nevertheless, I’ll make sure.” He looks at the reports. The mans family. This is the more difficult part, so let’s do that first: Getting their permission. He nods at Elise and starts dialing. The process went as expected. A concerned mother. Confusion. Aggression towards publicly showing his surgery. Slight Hope at a chance of recovery. Resignation and compliance. He mentions a Dr. Von Eisenberg for the man s surgeon. She might act differently if he told her that it was Elise, a teenager. A few minutes pass, with back and forward replies, with him reassuring her. Finally, the woman gave her permission, and he tells her that a different department will speak back to her shortly for the paperwork.
He looks back at Elise. “The first and most important hurdle has been passed. It’s all on you now from this moment on. You hold the fate of someone’s son here. I hope you know what you’re doing.” He glares at her and starts to walk off and exit the hospital, calling up the rest of the required things. Once all that has been sorted out, with the guards and station, he calls up Elise and lets her know, with him resuming to the hospital once the time has come to start the surgery. Truth be told, he’s a bit interested in how she does this. This clone ability might be useful at the complex. Time to see it in work.

With the first hurdle passed it was time for her to put in the work, the work everyone in the country deemed impossible. It didn't take long for everything to be prepared, for her to be changed in her surgical attire, for her assistant to be present and for the patient to be transported toward the area the surgery would take place.
If there was one thing her father taught her that was most important, then it was that a doctor held the hope and fate of a patient in their hands, and so rather than directly allowing him to get into his slumber she decided to talk to him first. To be honest it was a peculiar feeling, the cameras in the surgery room all focused on her, the motionless body of her patient, awake and alive but incapable of doing anything, but he was there, and that was what mattered.
"Daichi-san." She began, she had yet to put on her mask and began. "Do you remember me? My name is Elise von Eisenberg, I was one of the visitors at Semper Fi when you were given the order to detain us. Although you were merely following orders, you shot me, and in return got shot also. Yet when the villain Thunder Shock attacked you, do you remember what followed? You were dying, and it was a Quirker who stabilized your condition. Back then I wasn't sure why, perhaps I was merely following the Hippocratic oath. But in the end you survived, although the damage that villain inflicted upon you left you in this state."
Her expression was somber, knowing all too well that the stream of the video was recording every moment.
"A lot has happened since then, didn't it? Doctors from all over the country visited you, they considered your condition impossible to cure... just like our society is starting to consider the idea that living in harmony between Quirkers and Non-Quirkers is impossible. A notion that the likes of Abbaddon surely hope to provoke within our hearts."
She lowered a hand to his own, gripping it lightly. "But we both swore an oath when we took our individual careers. You promised to protect Japan and its people, and I swore to save anyone, no matter who it was even if that person is the same one who tried to kill me. I ask of you Daichi-san: trust in me, that I will save you just like I did that day. Remain strong, so that together we can pave the way for a society where Quirkers and non-quirkers will be working side by side for the greater good."
She nodded her head lightly toward the assistant who approached the other side of the bed with the injection needle. "I promise you: When you wake up, I will have kept my word. Sweet Dreams Daichi-san."
It was peculiar, noticing on the nearby machine how calm his heartbeat was, and the tiny squeeze in her hand made her almost believe that he was truly trusting her. Taking a deep breath she stepped backwards and put on her mask properly, a light nod toward the assistant being made.
"I'm about to begin the operation."
--- How long had passed since that moment? It felt like hours, of course the damage Thunder Shock's attack left on Daichi's neural network was immense, parts of the bronze wiring that had been part of his brain was damaged, and while initially the surgery was developing favorable. It seemed the hard part had yet to come.
"Doctor, the patient's vitals are starting to lower."
Elise could feel the tension of the situation, and yet there was a terrifying coldness in her, as if nervousness had drained from her being, even emotions had faded as she was solely dedicating all her focus on the surgery. It was a problematic situation... "This part of the neural network is damaged too much, regular surgery won't be able to mend those injuries."
The assistant looked slightly unnerved, her voice shaking lightly. "Then you mean he's going to die- his vitals are reaching a critical level" Elise shook her head firmly. "I will never abandon a patient." Elise withdrew her hands, instead removing one of her gloves. "Doctor you can't mean to---"
Elise nodded her head once more. "I said regular surgery can't save him, but if I combine it with something irregular." Her hand started to shift, pink slime forming in its place as she started to pick small bits from it and used the surgical tools to apply it to the injured areas. To the camera it might had looked like something from a science-fiction movie, even the assistant was speechless as the slime started to mold around the injured parts of the neural network and reconnect the lines that were damaged, before hardening as the regenerative fluids restored the damaged sections inside the slime.
"My quirk possesses regenerative properties, so by connecting the slime shed by my quirk to the damaged areas I am capable of restoring the damaged network, although it demands pinpoint accuracy, something I got to thank a certain sensei for teaching me." She smiled under the mask as she worked on closing the incision area, the application of her slime making it properly close.
It didn't take much longer for the end result to reveal itself as Elise looked at the machinery next to the surgery table. "The patient's vitals are stabilizing, the readings are all positive." A sigh of relief was made by the assistant while Elise shook her head lightly. "Not yet..." No doubt the words of the girl would likely confuse both the assistant and the media in the nearby room. "Until we know the surgery succeeded there is no reason to celebrate. Our patient will wake up soon."
She paused for a moment, watching the assistant properly put away the tools while Elise watched, all she could do was wait and watch. After what felt like an eternity the man stirred slightly, opening his eyes.
"Daichi-san? Can you hear me?"
Elise inquired, approaching the bed the man was put in after the surgery had ended, the cameras were clearly watching every moment, every minuscule detail. This was the moment that would decide her success, or possibly herald her downfall.
A weak barely noticeable nod of his head was made, his lips parting slightly. "A-Ri-Ga-Tou E-Ri-se..."
The surgery... had been a success.

"Wh-what?! Seriously? She's that young?!"Everything has been set. In order to gather enough attention, the main broadcasting station NHK has been contracted to stream the event. Under certain rules, they were allowed to broadcast this special event to their channels with no interruption. To do so, only 2 cameramen are allowed to broadcast the surgery, with up to 5 reporters in the rows watching it. This is to assure that the least interference from the outside can happen during the surgery, although once the surgery has been completed and Elise's team leaves the sanctuary of the room, they might be assaulted by the multiple of extra and lower station reporters outside the hospital. Guards are out there making sure they don't disrupt normal hospital hours, with more on the roof covertly inspecting the skies in case. Some extra doctors well versed in their fields were allowed in the audience, with Taizen being allowed as well. He sits next to a young looking woman with shades on her head, somewhat confused at the person preparing the surgery. She has a badge on that had her ID and NHK on it, meaning she was one of the reporters selected to check out the surgery. Taizen can only side glance at her and slightly shake his head as the others shushed her. They're gonna eat her alive if she fails this surgery. She spoke softly to the patient. Is she amping herself up? The cameraman were getting ready to get the right away to start recording. Some reporters were asking the other doctors invited to view on their opinions on Elise's operation. Meanwhile, the one next to Taizen can only gawk with an interested view. She has the right topic to write down on this: 'Prodigy revives patient from medical hell,' or 'Patient dies in Tokyo Hospital due to mishandling.' She's struck gold here, thank god they chose her. Taizen looks at his phone at a message he received. He invited the man's mother to come watch, but she declined, instead waiting on the ground floor of the hospital. Perhaps she did it so she wouldn't overtake the tense atmosphere of the surgery, or maybe she didn't want to see someone accidently kill her child at worst. It's better that way, he supposes. The surgery has started. Elise alerted her team and both the physical and virtual audience and began her operation. The cameramen started up on recording, as the tension in the air started to grow thicker. The invited doctors can only look and compare some of their moves on paper alone, as if it were disrespectful to speak outloud. The reporters were jolting down potential angles coupled with their impromptu interviews with the doctors. Meanwhile, the young reporter kept asking Taizen about what that thing is and what the other thing is. How the hell does he know? He's just here to check her skills and judge her. It's like a test to determine if she really is fit to work in the project. Some issues arose later. He hates to admit it but he was kinda glad it happened, it was getting a bit boring around here. Seems they finally reached that issue many other brain surgeons were having issues with: the metal. Or was it copper? Either way, it was serving as a roadblock for Elise's team. She needs to overcome this in order to prove her worth, and she continues on with no noticeable fear on her. The cameramen were picking up on some of the assistants agitation, but the image of a stoic and calm professional was being held up at a tense time as this. Of course, the doctors started to murmur. He made sure to suggest the hospital to invite one of them that previously failed if they were available. One of the more recent ones were nearby, and as such they were allowed in. He can only look with a sort of resigned stare on his face as Elise reached the same issue as his team did. However, the next move managed to evict a lot more noise from the audience, especially the more impressionable reporter who started to 'ooooh' right next to Taizen's ears. He appears slightly more impressed seeing her quirk in action. That precise control is quite handy for what they need for the project. The other doctors and reporters started to murmur in confusion , with some of the doctors being kinda annoyed and impressed at the same time. The one doctor who failed last time looks surprised and a bit angry that this teenager managed to overcome this obstacle that he couldn't. Another doctor is asking if this is even sanitary. But whatever things they say or complain...they cannot deny the results. The patient's vitals were improving, with more gawking from Taizen's neighbor. Sooner or later, the patient returned to the world of the living, with the surgery being a success. Taizen can only show a slight smirk on his face as a sign of great admiration for the impossible task being demolished live on television. All the reporters are going wild with their note taking, while the reporter next to her can only look at her with such awe and excitement. The world has witnessed a miracle. To them, they have seen a new rising star in the field of medicine and a worthy successor to the Von Eisenberg family. To Taizen and the department, they found a good warden. To the reporter, she found some juicy ass news. To the doctor...he found his replacement. As the team settles after the surgery, Elise goes back to the office to relax. Taizen can only look at her, and then asks the reporter lady in his direction, " Excuse me, um…" " Oh, It's Mao! Tanashi Mao!" She looks at him with an excited look. This irritates him. " Hmm. Anyway. Follow me...hmm?" he looks aside and looks at the doctor looking in Elise's general vicinity. "Do you have some free time, sir?" " ...If I must." He slowly heads to Taizen's direction. Taizen looks at the reporter and tells her. "Write down everything she says unless I tell you not to." She can only look at him with sight confusion as he leads them to Elise's area. She appears to be relaxing and preparing herself for the crowd on the ground floor, with all the swarming reporters and tabloids asking for her word. "Well done, Eisenberg." He says while 'knocking' the door. He lets the reporter lady walk in alongside the doctor. "These folks have something to ask you." The reporter lady asks the usual stuff. How did she do this, when did she learn this, where she learned this, anything else [up to you, espy, don't mind you taking control for this part] but the person Taizen was more interested in hearing was the doctor. He can only look at Elise and say something, something he didn't want to: " ...How did you know about the metal?"

She had just returned to her office, barely enough time to put out her coat and grasp the bottle of water that she had consumed when the door opened, a knock following and a familiar voice calling her from the entrance of her mother's office. "Ah Taizen-san, and it seems you brought company." Elise smiled briefly while filling the cup and after taking a drink proceeded to gather a few more clean ones and approached the desk. "Please take a seat, forgive me if I do the same, surely the exhaustion is understandable."
She smiled briefly while taking a seat, and before she even had the chance to offer them a drink the woman started to bombard her with questions, questions which clearly caught her by surprise at the sheer speed of them, yet when the doctor asked the question Elise's eyes sharpened for a moment, as if she had returned in the midst of the surgery room.
"Initial scans of the man's neural network provided unusual responses in specific areas. typically such reactions are unusual, in fact they shouldn't happen unless the man suffered an injury from outside, after all, inter-cranium injuries from trauma can often be accompanied with such symptoms. for example were someone to be hit by, a flask, it is quite possible the impact will inject metal slivers into the victim's skull. However, further diagnose confirmed it was not a simple injury, the man's neural network was partly covered in a mineral akin to metal. While it was my first time witnessing it, my mother did tell me once that there was experimental research being conducted in restoring the neural network by means of cybernetic transplantations, an imperfect solution which led to the research to be ended. It was through that avenue I made the reasoning that he might had been one of those patients who underwent such transplantation."
God, even if she was relying on a partial truth that could likely fool a doctor, she had to praise herself for bullshitting this story to cover up that the man had a quirk after all his life and career would be ruined if the media caught wind of it. "My initial thought on how to solve the surgery was by applying a procedure quite similar to engineering: by microscopically welding the damaged sections to undamaged parts to restore his neural network, a procedure most of the other doctors likely thought about also."
She paused for a bit, leaning back in her chair as she sighed deeply. "The problem was in one particular section, the damage was too severe, no matter what one would do, unless one was to lay an entire new network in that section it would be impossible to do. Even with my training I wouldn't be able to do such precise work on such a scale, it would take too long to be possible, so my solution was that instead of replacing the network, I would regrow it. There were several sections of the network that served as suitable starting points, and by allowing my quirk to cover the area, it allowed his body to benefit from an accelerated generation, simply said his neural network would not only benefit from a natural reporduction of his previous one, it would also be reinforced by the properties of my quirk."
She shook her head lightly, taking a deep breath. "As egoistic as it might sound, this man could only be saved when medical science and the power of Quirks made a unison. Only by working both forces together could I hope to save the patient." She turned toward the media reporter and smiled briefly. "Well, I was attending Tokyo medical prior to my enrollment into U.A, after that I mostly relied on the wisdom of my ancestors and the dedication of striving to improve myself through studying. The idea behind using my Quirk was a reverse application of my father's research which was intended to create medical treatments for people with Quirks and injuries suffered by the powers of Quirks. Although some might question such a choice because of their hesitation to accept this new collection of powers that came to be. My Quirk's slime possesses a purity that makes it safe to use for surgery, but one could say that the fear, the hesitation to employ Quirks in fields like this is an irresponsible act from our side as medical personal. Our duty is to save our patients if we hesitate to employ a method because it is foreign, then we commit a slight toward our patients. Of course, it's an understandable concern in other fields also, the legal procedures of injuries or accidents that could be caused by Quirk-usage in the fields of army or law enforcement would be problematic to say the least with how young the system that handles Quirkers currently is."
She turned toward the journalist and smiled once more. "Do please try to restrain yourself from interviewing our patient for the time being, he has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Once he has recovered enough a proper press briefing will surely be held, until then the briefing held later today should be satisfactory for your questions and concerns about the situation. Until then, do you have any other questions for me?"
Her gaze shifted toward Taizen, that spark in her eyes speaking book parts as if she was telling the man that she had told him she would succeed, and now kept her side of the bargain. She turned her attention toward the map she carried with her earlier, and upon opening it something most fascinating revealed itself, it seemed she had already been working on a proper recovery and rehabilitation program for the man, and no doubt expecting questions she added with that calm and confident tone of hers. "I did mention that I would go for a total recovery result, I don't consider my work complete till the man can resume his life as it had once been. After all, that is what it means to be a 'Hero' of the hospital."

The doctor seems a bit satisfied with the answer, and yet he couldn't help but feel as if there was something more. And yet the way she was able to discuss her 'findings' on the metal 'shell' of sorts made him somewhat impressed...but at the same time he was more afraid. This next generation soon will outweed the old, and he's not quite sure if he's fully accepting of that. Taizen can only stare at Elise making up a long story about the potential cause of the metal, while sidestepping the potential problem of revealing the nature of the man's quirk. If anything, all this techno blabber is making him a bit sympathetic to the lost reporter, who continues to write down in a futile attempt to write a story. Out of the trio, the doctor understood most of the medical terms.
Once she stopped with most of the technical terms, Mao had more of a fighting chance to use this info in her story. This kind of speech she can use for some flavor. Taizen can only look at her writing down the majority of what Elise says, while glancing at the quiet doctor competempting himself. Seems to be that he isn't really paying attention to what she's saying about the unity of quirks and medicine...or maybe he is. Perhaps he's taking it more as a personal attack. Perhaps he's thinking about who gave this girl the right to act this superior than him? She just got lucky, that's all. If she had to do it all over again, she would fail. it was a fluke, just damn rookie's luck. No, not luck, this was all planned. It was her mother who did this, she didn't do anything. At least, that's what he could be thinking about. Maybe he's taking it in stride, thought Taizen to himself.
The act of using Quirks on the field...would someone call it cheating? Why then? Wouldn't anyone who wants to save someone use their quirk to do so? Would using one's own power be considered a sort of 'easy way?' If it were up to Taizen to decide, the answer would be no...and yes in a way. Yes in that it is the easy way, there's no denying it. No one can claim that their powers can be a lesser substitute for normal medicine if used in the right direction. But to use it together in unity to advance, well that is how most things advance. You take a few things and mix up some stuff in them to make them better, and sometimes it takes combinations of other concepts to make them better. You don't need a degree to understand that of all things. Elise just seems to be the kind of person to actually attempt it, instead of leaving it on the testing table. Her slime might be useful for certain inmates if used correctly...he'll have to ask her just how potent it could be and if it can be separated.
"True. The fact that you saved that man doesn't change the fact that you had a huge risk in using your quirk during that surgery." He makes note of in the open, hoping for the reporter to pick up on it. "It takes a lot of control and precise movements to even attempt to risk it. But perhaps later on you can use this as a stepping stone of sorts to advance the field of medicine." Some more positive publicity wouldn't hurt, the kid earned it. Might give her a bigger ego, though. As he says this with his usual half-assed expression, the doctor looks at him, and for a second he could have picked up a small sneer.
Mao seems a bit disappointed in being unable to interview the man, but Elise has a point. Currently, even the mother is trying to get some visiting time, and it's better to leave any official interviews once he manages to stabilize and talk more. But she still was satisfied with what she received, and shook Elise's hand for her cooperation. She took out her camera and took an impromptu photo, grinning as she starts to head out. Taizen looks at her with mild bemusement. If this is how one reporter acted, he wonders how the rest will. The doctor can only look at Elise, and then turn away as he follows the reporter.
Taizen look at Elise discussing her plans on the overall treatment, giving her the usual bored face. But he won't lie in saying he was a bit impressed. "Indeed you did. Suppose you did fine enough with the pressure placed upon your shoulders. Even with your skills." He places his hands inside his pockets. "A man today had the chance to remain stagnant or even dead, and now he is on a bed presumably talking to his mother once more thanks to the power of quirks. The media will eat this up. Seems you got what you wanted." He looks at the door. "But that's just the first step, you know that right? What's upcoming will be more difficult for you… and for all of us at the project. More dangerous 'patients,' more unwilling ones, you may need to get physical. With this new publicity, you have effectively placed a bullet on your person. You could even get injured to the point where your previous hospitalization seems like a joke. Knowing that, are you still willing to continue forward with the offer?" he looks at her, somewhat knowing the answer already. After all, she told him eariler. He's just here to reaffirm that.
On the ground floor are a multiple of reporters and tabloids wanting to get access to the man's room, as well as an interview with Elise. They will have to wait for the official press release to get anything concrete. The lucky reporter Mao can only try to sneak out of the populated front door, having already gotten the scoop of a lifetime. She can't help herself but laugh about it.

With the reporter and the doctor exiting the office it was just her and Taizen, and his words made her smile. "Taizen-san, I was once on the doorstep of death, left in a comatose people expected me not to wake from, yet I struggled and trashed my way back into the world of the living. I know all too well that my actions today will make me a potential target for villains across the nation, and it will not make me back off. After all, heroes fight evil in various forms and methods." She rose from her seat and gestured for him to follow her. "I trust you were able to ensure enough security is in place for this briefing? Part of the reason I asked you so suddenly is exactly for this purpose: Since the stream of the surgery and the press briefing came so suddenly villains won't be able to prepare an attack in time, after all by the time they would be mobilized their targets are gone."
She paused for a bit as she approached the other side of the desk. "I already arranged for Daichi-san to be transferred to another hospital, I also didn't mention his full name to prevent him from becoming a target. In the end all they will have is me to focus on, and considering my presence lingers between a school full of pro-heroes and a governmental institute that nobody knows about? They will find themselves hard-pressed to target me soon."
She paused for a moment as she started to guide Taizen along the corridors of the hospital, trying her best to ignore the awkward feeling she had at all the security around, likely something she would have to get used to... They soon arrived at the ward where Daichi was being kept, and a feminine voice came from inside, she could only guess it was his mother. She paused for a moment, flashing her staff ID at the guard who was stationed in the ward who nodded and soon she stepped inside the room.
"Daichi-san, Mrs. Watanabe." She addressed both in a polite tone, gesturing for Taizen to close the door as she continued. "The initial results from your treatment show that the surgery went without complications, a full recovery is possible after extensive rehabilitation, for which I have prepared a detailed program for. However, I have to apologize." She bowed toward the two as she spoke. "While I have avoided mentioning the existence of your Quirk to the media, the matter remains that the man who inflicted this injury to you will see your survival as a sign of defiance, a sign I made worse by the stream of your surgery."
She raised her head and continued her explanation. "Outside the media is waiting for a large scale press-briefing, while security has been prepared for your safety in the hospital, it is in your best interests that I'll relocate you to a hospital within the Musutafu region, there will be multiple transfers taking place over the same period so villains will find it borderline impossible to find you."
She stood upright as she spoke. "Do you remember what I said before the surgery? I meant every word of it, just like you were saved today, I want our society to know that there are heroes, Quirkers and non-Quirkers alike working together to protect the people, to stand defiant against the rising tide of darkness that villains are causing. I won't force you to attend the press briefing, and as the doctor in charge of you I have forbidden anyone aside from your mother access to this room. I won't ask you for forgiveness for this selfish deed, all I can ask for is for you to understand it. In case you are worried, my slime isolated your network, so should you desire to return to the service of the army once you recovered, there will be nobody aside from your mother, myself and this man here who know about your Quirk, so you'll be able to resume your life as it had been before."
No, this was not yet the moment she had placed a bullet onto her being, that would surely happen once the press briefing went out to the world. After all, she had just showed the world that there are people still opposing Thunder Shock, and she knew that man had an ego as large as her own. And then there was Nick Cross, the stain upon the history of the hero school, a plague that attempted to rill up society and enlarge the rift between Quirkers and non-Quirkers, his actions during the attack on a news channel speaking book parts.
"But that aside, how are you feeling? Although my Quirk has provided an enhanced regeneration of your injury, your body still underwent a lot of strain, luckily nothing the painkillers can't subdue. I wish I could heal you straight away, but I'm a doctor with a Quirk, not a mage from a fairy-tale." She smiled briefly, looking over the sheeth on the edge of his bed that recorded his state. It seemed the data was all still within the expected norm.
She turned her gaze away from the bed and toward Taizen, seemingly ready to leave, after all the press briefing was scheduled in the evening, and she still had to make a few final preparations herself for that. But who knew, perhaps it would be a day where it wasn't just Elise who came with surprises, and she might had been the one to get surprised.
After all, heroes came in many forms and shapes...

"Yup. You're now the hottest topic on local media right now." He glances at his phone, with the chat open. "Several posts and comments on NHK's website for its streaming services are floored with countless people witnessing your claim to the world. Some I'm guessing aren't the friendly type. We made sure to keep this hospital safeguarded, you can trust us on that. Any low level thug could try to enter the hospital and they'll be swarmed by the media, alongside guards watching from afar aiming at them. Even large-time threats would have to think about their chances when attacking this place at such a highly populated time. The thing one has to worry about are the 'insane' ones, which is why we have more guards on standby. Would be a waste to lose you here and now." he states matter of curtly. "Same goes for your patient. I would recommend moving him to a different place, but you already thought of that. Nevertheless, I'll let you know if we can dispatch some guards during the transfer."
She guides him around the hospital, as if she was looking for a specific place to show him. She appears a bit nervous over the newfound attention she gardened. Taizen can only follow her while looking around, making sure no one suspicious were nearby. No one really knows what can strike behind a corner. Flashing her badge, they're given access to the room, where within lies the worried Mrs. Watanabe and the man himself. The man that caused this grand show. In a way, Taizen has him to blame for the majority of his day(s?) being stuck here in a hospital.
Elise greets the duo, with Mrs. Watanabe gently greeting back. Daichi can only stare at her, somewhat tired but more awake than he has ever been for the past few months. Taizen nods at Watanabe, slightly waving his hand at her since he was the one who invited her here. Elise does the usual song and dance, giving them her apologizes for the circumstances of this event. Watanabe looks worried as Daichi continues to face in front of him with a half-closed gaze. Taizen just places his hands in his pockets, not saying much. No need to make the obvious more obvious.
Watanabe can only muster her apologizes to Elise, thanking her for saving her son. As she raises her head, she continues on. Daichi remains silent, but from the way he stares at her, it was obvious he was paying attention to every single word she was saying. Soon he will be moved to a safer location, with no one around to threaten him or his family again. Thunder could find out later, but for now they're safe. Until the next transfer. And the next. And the next. They will only be safe for a short amount of period until he recovers and fully relocates. A life filled with running away. But...it's curious, really. Her words made him slightly move his head. Here he was, the man who was ordered to kill her, who she shot as well, and she was treating him as if he were nothing more than a friend. No, a friend was too much of a strong word...there was no bad blood between them. The moment as enemies has passed, they were simply doctor and patient. He couldn't help but face her direction in confusion and gratitude.
"..." Daichi can only think about her statement involving the press release. Obviously, his mother was fussing a bit about not wanting to show their faces during then, after all he's still a target. It makes logical sense. They also won't disclose his quirk to the public. More protection. He can only remain silent as she continues, finally ending with her asking for how he's feeling.
"...Fine." he simply states. Some more silence on his end as his mother talks with Elise. The usual questions involving his rehabilitation, and how long it will take and/or cost if any. As this goes in the background, Daichi continues to think. She did all of this, risked making herself a target...for him. He can't believe that. And now, he's being protected by her. He can't believe that. This is all too much, it feels as if he might cry. No tears come down, he's too tired for them. As Elise and Taizen start saying their goodbyes, they were stopped.
"Wait." Daichi faces them. "...I don't know if this is the right move. I'm not sure if I'll regret it later. But...please, let me speak during the press release."
His mother starts looking at him as if he were crazy, fearful for her son's life. Taizen looks a bit bemused. "Didn't you hear what your doctor said? It's better that wa-"
"I know. I know..more than 5 months I've been on this bed. Thinking. Always thinking. Back then. I had no choice, I told myself. I did it. I got what I deserved. Now I'm here lying on this bed once more, thinking. Now with a choice." he says softly, trying to exert himself to speak more. "...I want to speak during the press release."
"Daichi!" Watanabe can only exclaim in shock at her son.
"It's okay, mom. Don't worry." He looks at the two once more. "Please. I want to be there."
Taizen looks at Elise, then at Daichi. Thoughts run through his head.
He finally responds with a sigh.
"...Are you stupid."
Awkward silence fills the room.
"No. Just...no. Look at yourself. You're bedridden. You can barely move, let alone your head. You're panting just trying to sit up straight and even talking. Even on a wheelchair, you're useless, you'll just pass out in the middle of it. It'll be stupid just to wheel yourself out in the open." he says matter of fact. Daichi's face seems to waver a bit.
"...So then. A compromise." He looks at Elise. "We'll stream the press release here. Do you think that's plausible?" he looks at Daichi, who regained that courage he just showed. "What about you, Dr. Von Eisenberg? Do you mind?"

Elise knew all too well the consequence of this plan of her. Like Taizen said, she was surely going to be the hottest topic on the local media, and there was no doubt that things would only get more serious soon. She nodded her head lightly in appreciation to the man's comment about trying to see if some guards could be dispatched during the transfer, and finally they arrived at the room of the patient himself. The silence was almost unbearable, but she knew the man was likely thinking a lot about the matter. He stated he was feeling fine, but upon their departure from his room his voice made her pause, checkmate! The last move had been made, just as she hoped it would happen. The pride of men was a dangerous weapon, and yet so was gratitude and the feeling one needed to make things right.
This time it was Elise who remained silent, all the while the conversation between the three others in the room unfolded. "It's not impossible, in fact there is a way for you to attend the press conference without needing to move an inch." She turned toward the wall across from his bed and continued her explanation. "If we place a camera here, alongside a direct feed to a large enough projector at the press conference, we can allow you to address the media, it shouldn't be a problem getting the necessary apperature in time for the conference, and I'd rather have the media remain outside rather than hog your room."
She raised a finger and continued. "However, I will be stationing a doctor and a nurse to monitor your condition, should it be decided that your too tired to continue the press conference I will end the broadcast. Your courage is appreciated Daichi-san, but your wellbeing takes priority. I'll have you get some medicine administered now, it will allow you to rest a bit and feel more clear-minded."
With those words spoken she smiled briefly at him. "I'll be counting on you during the briefing Daichi-san, if you feel something come up, just give a thumbs-up gesture, I will take that as a signal something urgent happened and will return to your side as soon as possible."
With the compromise made Elise walked out of the room, ensuring they were the only two around when finally she sighed deeply. "A part of me wanted to reject his offer, but I banked on the idea he would ask for it, because for this to have its intended effect we need his cooperation. Can you help arrange the hardware Taizen? I'm going to get his medicine ready."
And with that the final preparation for the last stage of her grand plan. It was a bit of an unusual sight, the small stage, the large projector to the side, the guards that were stationed, even the large crowd of cameramen, journalists and news reporters were all waiting for that one moment. She had been waiting inside the hospital while one of Taizen's colleagues had started the briefing, explaining that a ground-breaking medical surgery had taken place, and then she was called onto the stage. Taking a deep breath to steel her resolve the pink-haired lass approached the stage and already she could hear the crowd stirring.
"Greetings, as mentioned before I was the one in charge of the aforementioned surgery, my name is Elise von Eisenberg, a student at U.A." A short pause followed as Elise continued shortly afterwards. "I am certain you are all familiar with the tragedy of Semper Fi, a place where violence and mistrust within our society reached a breaking point when a radical anti-quirker faction within the military opened aggressions on the visitors of the camp. That day some of us lost loved ones, others were injured, among those people a mother's son was involved in the conflict. For privacy reasons we won't mention his full name, but this man was a part of the soldiers meant to capture the Quirkers."
She raised a hand, as if trying to prevent any potential questions from being asked just yet. "I am a Quirker myself, and was present at this camp, in fact I, alongside a fellow student and our teacher were confronted by this man and several of his colleagues. In the ensuing conflict he ended up shooting me in the leg, and while he was rendered unconcious in the ensuing reaction from my classmate, there was a third force present. I do not need to remind people of the articles that suggest that I helped free the villain called Thunder Shock, the same man who killed my father?" She shook her head lightly. "During his prison break Thunder Shock's sadistic tenacities shown themselves once more when he attempted to murder Daichi-san, an attempt I interfered with by stabilizing his condition through my medical training. However, in the aftermath of Semper Fi Daichi-san was left in a state akin to a comatose, his brain injured and while he was alive, one couldn't say he was truly living. Today, Daichi-san became my patient, and after the surgery you all witnessed earlier is now back among the living."
She gestured toward the projector. "While he is still recovering, Daichi-san has requested to address the media during this press conference. While I will allow some questions to be asked after his address, we are monitoring his condition and request your understanding and cooperation in those difficult times for him so take turns asking your questions. Afterwards I will be available for questions also and have a final statement to make."
She reached for the remote of the projector, a press of the button making it buzz to live. "Daichi-san, can you hear us?"
Elise looked at the projector, inwardly praying for the success. This was it, now it was time to see if Daichi could help her bring forth the statement she needed to make.
It was odd, while the media might end up considering her a savior, a part of her felt like a devil for having manipulated things this much, even if it was all for the greater good.

Oh for god's sake. Taizen can only look at her with what amounts to a "are you serious" expression, even though outward it remains the same stagnant unchanging rock of an expression it usually is. She responded to him really quickly. Almost like she banked on it. Either way, no reporters means Daichi wouldn't be hounded. He was mainly thinking of keeping him in this room while Elise and a feed from it meets the media, but this sounds a lot more interesting. Watanabe seems worried, but complies to the offer as Daichi seems more ready to go. No one is unaware of how risky this is. Just having even a face on screen is enough to make people wonder, let alone speak out about his purpose during that event.
The two leave the room, with him sighing. Elise seems pleased in herself, admitting to the possibility of him refusing to keep silent was part of the cards. After asking Taizen to set up the stream, he adjusts his glasses and looks at Elise. "...Eisenberg. Remember this. You aren't in control. At the end of the day, despite all of your achievements, you are the same as everyone else. The cards are stacked in your favor, but it won't be long until someone or something knocks them down. Don't expect this amount of leeway during your employment in the project. Act out of line and you will be reprimanded." He stares at her, then pulls out his phone to prepare the stream. "You should go get prepared for your little show." And with that he starts walking away, calling up the proper people to get this little event underway.
Time passes. An official member of the medical branch has been invited to begin the press release. Many reporters including the previous one were chattering among themselves, waiting to hear what she would say. Taizen stands in the background, with his glasses lowered and arms crossed. He has a headset in case of any problems arising near Daichi's area. He made sure to place some guards outside his room, just to be safe. Elise waits for everyone to settle in to properly start.
Emotional manipulation. The media is well known for this. Lots of rumors spread around claiming this and that are rampant in today's society. Elise was just one of the people affected by it. One can consider what she's doing right now a sort of karmic payback. Throwing it on the other side: why would claim someone who just saved someone's life is a killer, a collaborator with a known criminal? From the surface, no one would be that idiotic to try to claim that, not in the moment at least. As time passes, perhaps more theories will form, but for now it would be the end of someone's career if they would just go up and deny all of this good will she's displaying to the world. Perhaps Daichi's statements will tip it even further.
Some people asked for how she did it, while others wrote down her statements as gospel. All Taizen can do is make sure the system's all set up, and when he gave the signal, she reached for the remove and turns on the feed. Daichi is propped up in a sitting position, with the nurse to his side. Elise asks if he can hear her. "...Y-yes. I can hear you."
Reporters start asking a lot of questions. Daichi mostly nods or shakes his head. Questions such as the semper fi incident, his employment, how it felt like while unconscious, all the other details. Daichi had to wait until most of them got it out of their system, with some people trying to calm them down. Taizen had to wonder what exactly Daichi is going to do.
"...Um...well." Daichi struggles to think of the words he wants to say. Before the press release, he thought about it. What he wanted to do. Why he decided to speak. "It-it...Yes, I was employed within that camp, and was ordered to do so. Erm, most things back then were a blur, but I along with others were ordered to eliminate those on site...something I wasn't sure why i followed. Perhaps...money? illusion of protecting people from quirk users? I don't know. I was scared, mostly." More reporters clamored up, Taizen continues to stare in silence. "Quirks...they harm people. That's what I was told. That's what I saw as a kid. But...I was saved by one. Throughout these months...it was just...me. No one else. Trapped and unable to say anything. A quirk saved me from that. I don't know how to put it in any other way." He's really pushing himself just to say this, Taizen notes. The nurse tells him to relax, and he stops to breath. "...The person who sent me to this state was a quirk user…and the one who saved me, the person who I was ordered among others to shoot on sight...she too was a quirk user." He seems on the verge of tearing up, with dried eye ducts making sure he won't. "On that bed, I felt everything. I felt all other attempts...I felt the metal in my head preventing anything...I can't say how much I'm so thankful for her. I know I'-i'm risking myself here just b-by showing my fa-face, but...I don't know. I wanted to say that. I thank you all and apologize that I can't answer anything else."
Taizen has a raised eyebrow. Did that idiot mention the metal in his head? Did he just let slip about his quirk. He looks at Elise, who probably has that concocted story in her head ready to use. Problem is, will it work again against a larger crowd? Or will it require another thing to make sure nothing major comes out of it? Already, some of the reporters are murmuring. The mass is a fickle being, they're ignorant of most things but as a group they tend to pick up on the smallest things. "Lets see how you do here, Eisenberg…" He mutters under his breath.

When Taizen addressed her Elise nodded her head firmly in response, turning toward him. "You seem to misunderstand me Taizen, being in control of life is impossible. Consider our entire life a series of chess games, and everything, every single action that might happen around us is a move on that board. We can't control the game, but we can guide it, steer it, manipulate it even. Yes, what I am doing right now might be considered as being manipulative- no it is being manipulative." She smiled sorrowfully leaning back against the wall. "But it is a necessity, everything in life is a matter of making sure you make the most out of every move you take, knowing that you can't reverse it. Just like when you came to me at U.A, you had all your moves ready and at your disposal, you could have blackmailed me, bribed me, even imprisoned me in the hope of making me consider your offer. On that board you were my opponent, and I played my own moves. But for what purpose?"She paused for a bit, a knowing smile on her lips. "You will understand that tonight." Indeed, what made her different from the majority was just how far she was willing to go, and how confident she was in her every move. Quietly Elise started listening to Daichi's story, so far it all seemed to be going as intended, all according to plan, yet it was near the end when he revealed that he felt all the other attempts being prevented by the metal in his head, the subtle slip making the media seemingly catching on it like sharks on a bloodied prey. Despite her lack of change in expression, Elise felt the sheer pressure on her shoulders on how to resolve this. "..." She looked at the projector and smiled kindly at her patient. "It's alright now Daichi-san, there is no need for you to carry this burden alone anymore." If she was bullshitting, she might as well go Plus Ultra there! "I am certain that many among the media are aware of the stories, of the rumors of heinous experiments commited in the underworld. Criminals who desire to obtain power at all costs, and among them one of the most dangerous experiments is the creation of artificial quirks. It is a procedure that by all rights should be forbidden because in its current state there is no way for one to safely create an artificial Quirk. One can't simply copy the Quirk Factor of a person and infuse it into another human being like rewriting the code of a computer program."She paused and closed her eyes. "I said that Thunder Shock tried to murder this man, but not before forcing him to be the victim of this experiment. Employing a barbaric replication of a medical surgery tool which was banned in the wake of revelation that there were too many complications involved, the madman tried to force the creation of a quirk in Daichi-san, but all it did was merely metalize a part of his neural network, it didn't give Daichi-san a quirk, and in his frustration Thunder Shock electrocuted the man in the hope of murdering him."She nodded her head lightly at Daichi, as if to give him a wordless cue. "It is alright Daichi-san, you are not to blame for that, you were a casualty of the despicable evil known as Thunder Shock and his lust for power, and I admire your bravery for trying to tell the media about such a harrowing experience. Thank you for this." She smiled kindly at him as she turned toward the media. "This is the type of insanity that awaits us if we succumb to the evil of the likes of Thunder Shock and his gang, if we allow the likes of Eternity to make us tremble in fear. While Thunder Shock did such a barbaric and inhuman act, one he will pay for in due time, do not allow negative emotions like hatred and anger to blind you from the message that Daichi-san tried to tell us."She leaned forwards on the desk, raising her voice slightly as she continued. "People like Abbaddon and his kin want us Quirkers to rise up in protest, to trample upon people without quirks and act as if we are superior, do I need to remind you all that he is nothing more but replaying a certain man's ideals that caused to plunge our entire world into a war in the past? WE ARE BOTH HUMAN BEINGS! There is no such thing as superiority on either side! should you listen to his call for arms, you will become the very thing you supposedly rose up again: a tyrannical oppressor with a superiority complex!"She shook her head firmly in denial to the notion. "What Daichi taught us with his message is that there is hope for a future, a future where Quirkers and Non Quirkers work in unity to create a better future for everyone! Just like he was saved by a quirker, just like quirkers were saved by Quirkless soldiers that stood defiant against those orders at Semper Fi: I ask you, PLEASE help us create a future where such tragedies won't happen again, a future where we disregard terms like Quirker and Non Quirker and see each other as what we truly are: Earthlings, for in the end we all are still sharing the same planet, working together to make every next day become better than the next."She knew, knew that at this point she was running on adrenaline and trying to pull the best out of this mess. She could see all the cameras, and now was her moment. "To all criminals and villains alike: You might try to divide us, you might try to conquer us, you might try to even break us, but you will NEVER succeed in burning out this thing you all fear, that makes you hide in the shadows: The thing Daichi-san showed us today: Heroism!"She narrowed her eyes. "It doesn't matter how often you try, even if you were to hunt me down for this defiance, someone else would rise to take my place. For as long as people work together there will always be hope for a better future. And in that future, there is no room for your evil."She raised her gaze upwards for a moment. Taizen, this is my answer: I'm but a mere pebble that will set in motion much greater things, and already you caused me to start this landslide...
