STORYTELLER July 26th, 2073, Tokyo Hospital Hall
This was probably one of the most rarest scenarios Hikawa could end up doing, tutoring minors the work she deals with can be nothing but a complete victory or a grim fall, she didn't expect her interns to last long besides her. Hikawa was the kind to not hold back when it came to her work, and if predictions are correct she will be able to display her interns one of the worst cases she has to work with, high risk, low chance of survival surgery. Obviously she wasn't gonna let some minor to even get to touch the mission, but there was a few places they could potentially fit in. She never had students not held classes, yet despite all of that she had complete confidence she had more than everything to learn, she was afterall the best in Japan.
Sitting in the main hall of Tokyo Hospital, Hikawa scrolled through a techpad with the brief of the mission very carefully detailed out for her, 90 percentage within this brief was classified and honestly maybe even too complicated for outsiders, but perhaps these interns was ahead of their age, they applied to here for a reason right? Hikawa stood up and fixed the white coat covering her body to fit more onto her shoulders, tightening the small belt, her navy blue hair neatly tied up into a spiked ponytail and her surgical mask on.
''Haruto, Airi, two students with promisiong applications, with even more promising grades, but how well could they handle the pressure of standing on the thin line between a saviour or a murderer? Pfft, not that they'd get the chance to hold a life in their hands yet.'' She muttered to herself, then gives the hall a quick scan to see if she could see them approaching, she did write in the invitation notes to meet spot on 11 AM with a minor list of equipments and documents, because even students of heroism needs verified documents by an official, aka Hikawa, to enter the restricted floors of Japan's biggest health research department.

When told to arrive at eleven, it was only common sense to arrive fifteen minutes early! Which was why when Haruto checked his watch, it was troubling that it read 10:15. He’d been too excited and arrived early! Not wanting to be a bother, he took a seat in the main entry, and began to review his paperwork for the sixteenth time that day. Just because everything had been in order twenty minutes ago, didn’t mean anything at all! The chance to work with one of the most famous surgeons in the nation… It would be terrible to miss out on it due to missing some papers!
He could hardly believe it was real. It felt like yesterday that he had received the message through his school email- She had introduced herself as a ‘new doctor,’ if you could believe that! At first he’d been certain that it was just another doctor that shared her name- How could THE Hikawa Gyousomu be taking on interns? Well, she wasn’t even a hero in the sense of having a hero license, so his confusion was certainly warranted. But checking the official release of those who would be acting as mentors for the program, it really had been her! When he realized that, his heart felt like it might stop- Seriously? He had accepted the invitation without a second thought when he thought it was a case of shared names, but it was hard to imagine actually working under one of Japan’s best doctors!
But he had soon recovered. His dream of becoming a doctor had never changed, although it had been tempered recently by his training towards the route of a Rescue Specialist Hero. He was frustrated by how he frequently was simply in the way during these increasingly common disasters… Kunshu’s Circus. QED. Semper Fi. Places he’d been, under attack by those who could be described as no less than Villains… And yet, despite being a student of UA, the school for heroes, what use had he been? His medical skills, subpar. His quirk, inefficient. Each time, he had collapsed on the floor and needed to be saved along with the civilians. He was done. Never again did he want to watch the death of someone he should have been able to save. But while his efforts in rescue operations were a path toward that goal, his studies in medicine were the core of his focus. There was no better place than this to see how his meager talent compared to a professional.
With a heart emoji, he wished his girlfriend, Ishihara Chise, luck with her own internship. And then his phone was away- He wouldn’t need it! It was almost time for his own to start, and he wouldn’t want to make a bad impression by using it. Soon enough, the distinctive face of thedoctor he would be working with appeared- He had seen it before, in articles about her work. He closed the folder with his paperwork and adjusted the equipment she had asked him to bring, before standing up and heading over to greet his mentor. With a polite bow, “Hello, Gyousomu-sensei. I am Shimizu Haruto, I will be in your care for this next period.” He introduced himself. “I have been following your work on the treatment of individuals with non-traditional anatomy for some time now, it is an honor to have the chance to work with you!” While Haruto’s main area of study was the use of quirks in performing medical care, it was fascinating to consider the challenges they posed when planning treatment.
Perhaps he would sound like a sycophant, being so quick to make it known that he had read some of her research, but Haruto was never the type to hide his honest feelings! “Actually, about your work, I had some questions. In your paper, you wrote about how sedative dosage would need to be administered based on the subject’s metabolism, however, I am unclear on how to accurately determine this- Especially with many quirks resulting in metabolisms far removed from the typical standards.” Many of his friends, such as his ‘adoptive daughter’ Angel, had quirks which amplified their metabolism significantly. Typically, dosage was based on the build of the subject- But this fell apart when quirks were involved!
Of course, he had much more to ask- But one thing at a time!

"Eleven thirty-three."
Airi muttered to herself, staring at her phone whilst walking. "Great..."
Being late was quite a rare occurrence for someone like Airi and to those that knew her well, it was really unusual for her to be so nonchalant about being tardy considering the circumstances. However, Airi wasn't feeling too great and she hadn't been for a few weeks or so. The small, bratty girl had just been in an overall bad mood and the little voice in her head that kept her motivated to be as studious as she normally was had begun to fade. She was slacking off.
Recently, she had begun to stay up later than she normally would just to be on her phone. In fact, the reason why she was late today in the first place was that she was so busy reading webcomics and watching videos online that she forgot to set an alarm to wake up.
In all honesty, as much as this was a great opportunity to see a career path that only slightly veered off the course of her intended one, it wasn't what she wanted. Earlier, she had gotten an invitation to one that just fit her, yet for some reason, it didn't work out. Fortunately, Gyousomo-sensei was kind enough to also offer an opportunity to return and be mentored but it was nagging at her. A golden goose of an internship had just disappeared into thin air for no reason other than the universe wanting to spite her.
While she was grateful, Airi didn't particularly feel motivated to show up. She didn't feel motivated in general. Outside of preference towards her internships, she had stopped feeling the urge to do better whenever she could. Why should she? Still, she had to come. She couldn't miss something like this. So here Airi was entering the hospital with messy hair, dark black bags underneath her eyes and a whole lot of attitude to spare.
After showing her ID and explaining her tardiness to the secretary at the front desk, she made her way to the main hall with a grim look on her face. "I'm so sorry about arriving so late Gyousomo-sensei, my uh.. alarm didn't go off. It won't happen again." Airi said to her mentor, bowing while she did so.

STORYTELLER Hikawa held her arms crossed and simply gave the young man a wise nod, he seemed rather respectful, and direct at certain angles. She placed the center of her thumb on the tip of her chin as she witnessed the flashing admiration from the optimistic student of heroism. ''My looks like someone's been doing their research, or perhaps even more. It is always a pleasure to get recognized for their work, you look like the kind to stomach the details I display for the public, of course I can't get too complex with my language.'' Doing herself a small chuckle she took note of Haruto's set up and attire, it took no real difficult thinking to imagine this young student wishing to be someone dealing with medical care, he had the stern focus in his eyes, but she didn't wanna read his entire book on the spot, today she was gonna teach and for her that is practically a vacation.
She then gave the young man a curious raised brow from his eagerness, she didn't take him to be interested into something as simple as metabolism's diverse realm in the quirked population. ''So you even read my mundane stuff too, here I thought most people would find it a compelte bore.'' She gave herself another chuckle, but this time with a bit more irony. ''And it is a complex train of thought when written on paper, metabolism in practice is more of an organic furnace. To make it simple to determine one's metabolism you have to find it's traits, one furnace might be made out of steel while another is made out from traditional stone, but down to it's core they both have the exact same princicple. From that fixed point I can review the behaviour of the quirked individual, the body temperature and mass, really it is a matter of mathematical problem solving, I am infact curious if I can develope a metabolism level converter~ It would certainly save me alot of time!'' Once she got going with her topic she could likely talk for hours upon hours, but Haruto was spared this time when a certain second student showed up, which gladly enlightened Hikawa with a smile.
''So you're Airi Kurusu, I'm glad you could show up, but you don't look exactly focused right now, infact it almost seems like you are actively going downhill.'' She tsk'd herself and began to play with her blue bang, closing her eyes as she giving this current situation a thorough conclusion. ''I expect great traits from both of you, while you may not perform a surgery or investigate a delicate object today you will pay close attention. You two might be wondering just what exactly what today's operation is and why I wanted you to bring a few pieces of equipment, well for starters, do you two have something to note with? A good camera? Moisturizer?'' She looked over at both of their possessions to check clear for the operation to officially start. ''Lucky for you miss Kurusu, this operation doesn't start until twelve on the dot, but no time to waste, you two are about to witness what it means to reveal a body's history! A body from a crime!'' Maybe she spoke such line with a tad bit too much enthusiasme, but she was nonetheless eager to get down to business.
She directed them both down a lonesome hallway before reaching a simple white elevator, taking the trip down to the bottom floor, a floor underneath the staff parking level. Once opening she stepped out, outside was an even mroe lonesome halølway with blank white doors, it almost looked a tad bit surrealistic, as if they stepped into a world of emptiness. ''You are now in a highly restricted department that only higher officials are allowed to step in, you two are ratehr lucky to see this kind of place, but please... do not touch something you're not supposed to, specially any of the doors, our destination is near the end of the right corridor.'' They arrived to the door, operation room #304, once entering it went from complete white walls, floor and doors to a pitch black room with a large window on one end and a heavy sealed door next to it. ''Do not be intimidated by the interior, this room is where you watch the operation happening, but we'll go to the next room, behind that window.'' Witnessing what was behidn the window was a simple bed table in the middle of a circle shaped room with bright lights covering the floor, the patient laying on the bed is in a concealed capsule. ''Remember, do not touch unless given the green light.'' She strictly placed that advice down once more before opening the sealed door.

Deeply enjoying the chance to learn from one of his idols, Haruto properly listened to what she had to say! “I see, that does make sense! Thank you for your guidance!” See, he was learning already! As expected of Gyousomu-sensei! Rather than a bore, he found this sort of thing fascinating! But why did she refer to it as her mundane work? To him, this sort of work on quirked individuals was easily the most fascinating of what she had done! Certainly, he was impressed by the sheer volume of difficult procedures she had performed… But to him, compared to performing a procedure, wasn’t the person who created a new one even more impressive? And with quirks being so recent, there was so little in the way of literature… Making the headway she had made, all the more inspiring to him!
But before he could further probe the doctor, a new voice appeared from the hallway. It was another student, a girl who Haruto had never properly met before- Although he recalled seeing her around the school. Perhaps he had even met her over the school’s internal chat room without ever knowing who it was- Although he was rarely on it himself, so that was unlikely. In any case, he took her claim of a missed alarm at face value.
According to Gyousomu-sensei, his partner was Kurusu Airi- Not an especially familiar name, though he had the feeling that he’d seen her before on the school chatroom. “Ah, good morning, Kurusu-san.” Well, it was technically still morning, after all. “Shimizu Haruto, nice to meet you.” He offered a polite bow as he introduced himself. Well, they’d be working together the whole internship, so they’d get to know each other whether they liked it or not! And for Haruto, who was always happy to get to know fellow students, that suited him just fine! Although he didn’t really see what their instructor meant by her going downhill… Well, it probably wasn’t too important!
He listened intently to the next part- Addressed to the both of them. At the conclusion, Haruto would grin and fetch the items from his backpack! The notebook was obvious, he would have brought it even if nothing was said. The other two, less so. A camera wasn’t too outrageous, he had a small one that was not especially fancy- But why moisturizer? Hand sanitizer, he would have better understood… Well, they would learn soon enough, most likely! “Here you are,” Haruto would display the three for inspection. If there was one area of concern- It wasn’t an especially powerful camera, only slightly better than the one on his phone… But there wasn’t much he could do about that on short notice!
However, he was caught off guard by the next reveal! “A body from a crime scene? That’s…” He wanted to say, was it really okay for students to get involved in such a thing? But air was Gyousomu-sensei who had arranged it, so obviously it had already been okayed! “Err, so you’re aware… My quirk works in a way that cannot be turned off, so, just by being near the body, I’m liable to cause interference with any investigation.” Purification was great for curing the illnesses caused by toxins, but it wouldn’t stop just because the patient was dead! And even if it wasn’t a death by poisoning… A history of smoking, recent intoxication, the evidence for such things would be erased by his mere presence! While he believed that their mentor would have taken their abilities into account… He wasn’t sure if the full scope of his was understood, especially with said understanding changing almost monthly!
However, the chance to see Hikawa Gyousomu in action was one rarely found by a student. Following her directions, and trusting in her decisions, he would tag along through the area she called restricted… His hands held tightly behind his back, he was careful to not even bump into something by accident! He could barely even speak, so high was his tension… But eventually, they came to their destination. “To be honest… I feel like being in there is even more intimidating…” Haruto whispered nervously. But he shook himself out of this. If he couldn’t handle this much, how could he ever become a doctor? With renewed vigor, he followed inside, and looked down at the capsule which held a dead body. His emotions were mixed, looking at it- Pity, Of course, for the loss of a life. Fear, of death itself. And the memory of trauma, the last dead bodies he’d seen- The man he’d failed to save, and the subjects wheeled in on carts. The worst day of his life. Unintentionally, his hand balled into a fist- But no, this wasn’t the military camp! There was to be no plot twist! And even if there was… Shimizu Haruto was not the same person he had been back then! “I understand!”

Airi nodded along, choosing not to respond to Gyousomo-sensei's comments on her current disposition. Instead, she took out the notepad that had been requested ahead of time, keeping the other items in her bag for now. "Thank god I remembered to pack."
"Uh hi.. Haruto-san." Airi replied. She recognized that name from the school chatroom. He wasn't online very often. Regardless, it didn't really matter to her that much. She wasn't here to make friends.
"Oh!" She foolishly said out loud, her ears perking up as she heard the word body. "We might be watching an autopsy or maybe even help take pictures." She followed along a little perkier and a little more like her usual self. She enjoyed learning about forensic science and all that it entailed when she was much younger and being able to actually apply her knowledge or perhaps learn more about was something she was totally for.
Airi turned her head to look at Haruto, staring at him as he whispered. "..It's just a body." She muttered to him with a dismissive look on his face. She didn't want this to be ruined by someone who didn't have a stomach for this. For her, morbid and horrific things weren't something that really phased her. She had seen her fair share of gore and in general, she was just desensitized to images that would probably upset most people.
As a child, she often took peeks at case files her father brought with him. He was a sentimental man, one who loved his family and so he often found it difficult to work overtime on cases at the station. So, instead, he brought the cases with him so he could spend time with Airi and her sister whenever she was home. Fully aware of little Airi's interests in criminal investigation and what that entailed, he helped foster her love of forensics by sharing files containing investigation notes and photos of crime scenes and bodies. Not only did she slowly learn more and more about the field, she even helped her father with a second opinion from time to time. Of course, there was only so much she could learn until she required actual education. Still, she was accustomed to macabre. Nothing about this bothered her in the slightest.
“I understand!”
"..Excited to be yes man, are we?" Airi snarkily said underneath her breath, a little taken back by the enthusiasm in such a simple response. "I understand, Gyousomo-sensei."
