The Weight of my pride do i really need that? There was a bit of a queer situation with the vehicles.
As it stood, using just the larger, fancier car that her Grandfather had rented wasn't going to suffice. It didn't exactly have wheelchair support, meaning Miku and someone else to drive her would be taking a different vehicle. That situation was easy enough to resolve, as Masaru was fine to drive separate from the others. His attendance at the demonstrations wasn't even strictly necessary. He was attending more as the father of Tetsuko than a Master of Jikishinkage-ryuu. For although he did hold such a title, it was only Ryouichi's most esteemed masters that he would have beside him in the eyes of all the other practitioners of kenjutsu. This was the very same reason Master Uwabami and Masters Taniguchi were not coming to Itako.
As it were, transporting Miku was an easily remedied problem. The greater problem, however, came with a sudden revelation that Ryouichi Shindou had dropped on them just before their departure. That they would need to discuss some 'sensitive issues' on the trip to Itako, which meant that any outsiders would need to be in a separate vehicle. This wouldn't be a problem, normally, as there was no one to deem an outsider present most of the time. Today, however, there was Elise von Eisenberg.
Though the Germanic lass could have easily found it questionable that Ryouichi had both allowed for her attendance, yet also considered her an outsider, there wasn't going to be any arguing him out of his decision. The Grandmaster's word was final, that was something every resident of Kashima knew to be true. You had only the option to accept his ruling or suffer the consequences of disobeying his command. So, with all that considered, there was an interesting situation unfolding on the way to Itako, the City of Irises, within a vehicle belonging to one Masaru Shindou...
It was a somewhat roomy car, with a sizeable trunk. About what one might expect from a man who balanced his family life with his work and swordsmanship. Masaru was at the wheel, quiet for the beginning of their car trip, with Miku in the backseat alongside Elise. Between them, was her folded-up wheelchair. Elise had been designated the backseat to make sure it didn't move around too much; it couldn't be stored in the trunk for fear of being damaged by the other materials within. Masaru had taken up the task of carrying some supplies for the trip, you see.
The start of their own car trip to Itako was a bit... Awkward. Although Elise was the childhood friend of his dearest daughter, Masaru had never really been the kind to know what to say in situations like this. Situations where it was just he and her. Miku was ther too, of course, but... Well, she wasn't much of a conversationalist these days. For the time being she sat quietly, looking out the window every now and then with that typical forlorn expression.
A few minutes into the ride passed before Masaru actually decided to speak up.
"So... Elise... Hear ya been at the books a lot. Studyin' for medical stuff. Goin' into the same work as your folks?" He inquired innocently. Masaru was currently unaware of the research being done for the sake of his wife, Tetsuko evidently having not informed him of it. What Elise chose to make of Masaru's ignorance was up to her. The gruff man huffed to himself after his question, glancing back in the rear-view mirror as he spoke on. "My Mum - I know you've met 'er before - never had the same idea for me. Not in the sense of followin' her footsteps. Didn't have the proud, badass family name the Shindou and Eisenberg got." He said in a hearty jest, earning a small, almost stifled chuckle from Miku. He could still make her laugh, sometimes. Knowing that kept him sane, he thought.
This was definitely going to be an awkward trip.
Tetsuko, meanwhile, was experiencing a somewhat more serious affair.
The Shindou lass was sat along one large seat that stretched the back of the vehicle her grandfather had rented, alongside the beast of a man. Also sat near were Master Gai and Master Ueno, both still and quiet - rather uncharacteristically for the foreigner. It was evident from the moment she'd sat down, and from the fact that a panel separated them from the driver to prevent him hearing anything, that something was going in. In a few moments, she thought she might know what. Or rather, she had some ideas.
The UA Rankings. Her Tie at the end of the Sports Festival tournament. The potential gains from her upcoming internship.
However, when her Grandfather spoke, it became clear none of these were what he'd brought her for.
"Do you know why they called me, 'The Shura of Ibaraki'?"
It was a sudden question, Tetsuko remaining stunned in silence for a moment, before answering the only way she know how to address the question: with honest. "Of course, Grandfather." Tetsuko uttered, his cold gaze indicating she was to explain. "It was during the time you fought fiercely against those threatening Kashima, and the other sword schools who were exploiting the Quirker upheaval. Those who doubted you spurned you with that name." Was her understanding of it, anyway.
"...That is sufficient. To be 'Shura', is to fight without justice. To be a tool of violence, for its own sake. The title was a burden, one I still carry, for actions I am not entirely proud of. It is why we insist on lawfulness unless there is no other course." He elaborated. It was all conjecture Tetsuko had heard in the past, so she hadn't the foggiest why he was explaining it all over again. It seemed he understood how odd this was, as Ryouichi continued.
"I say this to you, so you understand the weight of my words, when I tell you... The situation of which I must speak, may well be something to take into our own hands." A weight dropped in Tetsuko's chest form her grandfather's stern words. It was more than a little frightening to see him falter like this.
"There's a blight we need to stop. And they call them, "The Dojo Hunter.""

It had been a bit of an unexpected situation, to be separated from Tetsuko already on the way to Itako, but at least she saw no need to complain due to the fact that she would be accompanying Tetsuko's parents. Indeed, she was a bit worried about the fact there was some important business they felt they needed to discuss with Tetsuko, a business that they seemingly considered her an outsider to. It was an annoying feeling, even if she didn't show it, but at least it was a feeling she knew Tetsuko didn't share, surely to Tetsuko she was not an outsider. An outsider would never witness the vulnerable side of Tetsuko Shindou. It was fortunate that the car was somewhat roomy, and having taken the backseat next to Miku, an obvious precaution in case something urgent happened, the Eisenberg couldn't help but heave a soft sigh as she gazed outside the window, the longing look in her eyes making it quite clear that she desired to be at Tetsuko's side once more.
What would Tetsuko be doing right now? It was a question that Elise idly mused, wondering what was so important for Tetsuko's grandfather to discuss with her. For a moment she decided to close her eyes, taking a moment to allow her body to relax and conserve some of her energy when the voice of Tetsuko's father swiftly brought her back to attention.
The question earned a brief blink from Elise, seemingly bewildered by the inquiry. So Tetsuko had told her father about the fact she had been studying so diligently but didn't mention why? Of course, she understood why her lover couldn't bring up such a sensitive matter with her father, which meant she needed to tread carefully here. First the question of following into the footsteps of her parents left Elise to ponder quietly for a moment before she finally spoke.
"While I am indeed studying into the medical field, I'm afraid I won't exactly step into my parents their footsteps." It was a realization she had made quite a while ago, and likely something which might bewilder Tetsuko's parents upon hearing her words, so she decided to clarify further. "My parents always carried their work in a selfless manner. They never cared about wealth or fame, they simply desired to help people, and for that reason never discriminated a patient, indeed even those who couldn't afford the medical bills normally still were able to rely on the help of my parents. In a way my mother and father might be what the world could call 'The heroes of a hospital'."
She smiled briefly as she shook her head lightly afterwards. "My desires and goals are far less selfless. While I like helping strangers as much as any other kind person does, I don't consider it my priority. The reason I'm doing this is to fulfill a promise, and ensure I will always be able to save Tetsuko no matter what happens, to become her 'Tetsu no Shugotenshi' I guess~"
With her explanation made Elise's smile turned more somber for a moment when Masaru's little jest made her chuckle softly. "I don't really think a person should follow in someone's footsteps, after all we are our own person and have to travel our own journey, a journey, fortunately, that is often interwoven with those of others."
Indeed, she was sure that her and Tetsuko's journey would be interwoven till the end of their days, yet after a moment Elise couldn't help but wonder about something, a question which had haunted her for a while already.
"Masaru... Did you and my father ever talk about his work, about the research he was conducting?"
She had to know... if Masaru knew that even till his dying breath he had never forsaken the Shindou, that her father was dilligently working on a cure for Miku's condition. A promise she would fulfill in his place instead!

The Weight of my pride do i really need that? In what was seemingly an attempt at just idle conversation, it might have appeared that Masaru Shindou was getting more than he bargained for with this topic of conversation. However, whether that was truly the case, or if Masaru really did have some degree of interest in the topic at hand, would be for Elise to see and decide. Nakamura and Shindou both had that nasty habit. Of holding their cards close, of not letting their weakness by on display. Whether by stubbornness or simple pride.
"Oh, that so?" Tetsuko's father would utter in a somewhat surprised tone as Elise stated she wouldn't be following in her parents' footsteps. He didn't quite get it at first, but luckily Elise explained shortly thereafter. Masaru would remain a good listener, his face not showing much reaction at first, aside from that ever gruff visage and a few hints of confusion at her words. Particularly when she explained that she wasn't quite as selfless as her own parents.
"Don't really matter why you do it, does it? Whether yer doin' it for my Tetsuko, or for every last stranger, you're still helpin' people, right? That's what yer parents did, that's what you're doin', who cares about all the the little details." He dismissed her claims with an emphatic huff, evidently unconvinced that Elise von Eisenberg wasn't following in the footsteps of her Heroic parents. The same... Heroic parents that had...
Miku would gulp, a tenseness to her just as she listened to the conversation, seemingly having no want to involve herself in it, but remaining attentive nonetheless.
When it came to the very idea of following in others' footsteps, however, there was a distinctly different mood to the air. Masaru just looked as confused as ever, while Miku seemed to soften a bit at the words. "Y-Y-You're v-very smart, E-Elise..." The Shindou woman would utter quietly, her gaze cast away as she spoke.
"Ain't nothing wrong with takin' pointers from yer elders, at least. Particularly when you're lucky like my Tetsu is, and have a couple of badasses for parents." Masaru declared with gusto, and a hearty grin. "Miku's right though, you've always been able to say a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if ya had to think for Tetsu too, girl's damn hopeless sometimes, when it's not about swords!" An even heartier laugh followed, as Masary did his best to lift the mood up, and seemingly away from certain topics. They would, however, be unavoidable in the end.
The moment the question was posed, the air in the car changed.
Miku began to stiffen again, restlessly moving a bit while Masaru's expression quickly became more somber. "I... Knew a bit." He said in a firm tone. "He was working on things with Miku. Stuff about repairing the effects of TBIs and nerve injuries as a whole. Real sciency stuff, a bit beyond me, to be honest." Masaru let out a little huff, but it wasn't out of amusement. "Elise, I know he was... Trying to help her." He wanted to say more, but the words didn't escape him. For how could he continue, how could he say...
'That's why he was with her that day. The day he was killed.'
No, now wasn't the time nor place to dredge that up, as late as it seemed to try and avoid it. The Shindou father quickly tried to redirect things in a more pleasant direction. "Your father was a good man, Elise. I'm sure he'd be proud of ya." Masaru uttered in a solemn and serious tone. Miku, meanwhile, looked to be almost shivering on the spot, her long silvery hair falling over her face as she restlessly looked towards Elise.
"I-I-I'm s-sorry.. I'm so... S-Sor..." Miku continued to stumble and choke over her words, while squirming even more despite her limited movement. "H-H-He.. Sh-Shouldn't have..." Understandably, the driver was concerned, Masaru glancing back with a face full of worry and discomfort.
"Hey, hey, Miku, it's alright..." He said what he could, but it was evident he couldn't do much, what with some of his focus being taken away by driving... Instead, all they could seemingly do, was let the discomfort, and the suffering, fester. Miku continuing to lament her past, as Masaru watched on helplessly, offering what little he could...
Things weren't much cheerier in Tetsuko's vehicle.
"The Dojo Hunter?"
The name was entirely unfamiliar to her, though the very implications of such a title carried quite the sense of dread. The way her Grandfather spoke on only added to that feeling. "Yes. In the past few weeks, several Dojos in Musutafu and Tokyo have experienced rather troubling attacks, by this... Entity." He explained, continuing on in further detail. "We don't know their name or affiliation, only that someone, or perhaps even a group, have been targeting Dojos with the explicit purpose of culling their ranks. That is all we can really know for certain, however, other elements have arisen that make this blight yet more troubling."
It was the first time Tetsuko Shindou had heard him speak with such uncertainty, such concern. There was little she could say in response. Her tongue was held, and the vehicle remained silent for a few more moments, until Master Ueno expanded on Ryouichi's words further.
"The Hunter is not a threat we can allow Police or Heroes alone to deal with." He suddenly claimed, looking to Tetsuko with a serious glare. "It's something we need to prepare for, and, if we have any intention of maintaining our pride... We need to do what we can to root them out. We won't allow ourselves, or others, to remain helpless victims. That's why we've called a number of new masters to Itako this year..."
Tetsuko nodded firmly, thinking on their words. "I see. It is like the case with Master Shien's Dojo, then. I understand..." Though for a meeting of this scale to occur... This wasn't just one dark samurai... It was clear, a bigger threat was blooming...

Indeed, idle conversation was something difficult to achieve, perhaps because one never knew what there truly was to find in a subject unless it was brought up. She wasn't certain if he had idly asked the question, or if there had been another purpose behind it, after all she knew Tetsuko's family was pretty smart, indeed even the headstrong Tetsuko that she adored so much had her own brand of wisdom. For now, she decided to believe that there was a hidden meaning behind the question.
It appeared her answer had initially made Tetsuko's father confused, understandable since everyone believed she would be stepping into the footsteps of her parents, yet as she clarified further Masaru's answer surprised her a little. Even if she was doing it all for Tetsuko's sake, she was still helping people and that in its own way was still quite heroic. The answer brought a small smile upon her lips as she answered in a soft tone. "I hope that others see it like that also."
Indeed, in the end, she was not necessarily a hero, she was simply a girl with the power to help, and the desire to do so.
Hearing Miku's response Elise's smile resurfaced again, seemingly softening somewhat in her expression and mannerisms upon hearing her belief that one shouldn't simply follow into another person's footsteps. "True, there is wisdom to be found in the experiences of those that walked before us, yet it should remain our own journey, not a repeat of those that came before us." Still, hearing the comment about her being able to say a lot and thinking for Tetsuko's share quickly earned a giggle from the girl. "Tetsu is smart in her own way~" But above all she was kind, a kindness that only a few people truly understood as well as she did.
She listened attentively to Masaru's response, the fact that he was aware that her father was trying to find a cure for Miku, to find a way to repair the effects of TBIs and nerve injuries as a whole, yet she also steeled herself for what to follow, because she knew that like daughter, Miku would surely feel that the blame was with her. Just like she had anticipated, Miku tried to apologize, the squirming and trembling showing just how much effect it had on her. "Don't say that Miku." Her tone sounded scolding, yet the gentle grasp of the woman's hand and the kindness visible in the young lady's expression were evident of different feelings. "My father was there out of his own will, he was working on a cure because of how much he treasured the friendship between our families. That day... he sacrificed himself so you and my mother could survive out of his own will."
She shook her head lightly, leaning a bit closer, a arm gently trying to wrap around Miku's shoulder to help calm her down. "So don't say you're sorry. Please, if not for those who are still here with you, then do it for my father, hold your head up high, remain courageous and live, so that his sacrifice was not in vain."
Letting go once Miku had hopefully properly calmed down, Elise looked straight at Masaru as she continued. "A Eisenberg always keeps their promises, a saying my father liked to use often. My father was conducting research into new treatment methods, and while the foundation of his theories are sound, they are still incomplete. It is that research that I am carrying on in his place. Both as a promise to Tetsu... and to ensure my father's promise will be kept."
She turned her gaze sideways to Miku, recalling something Tetsuko had told her earlier. "So don't give up Miku, after all someday you're going to have to walk Tetsu down the aisle in Itako~ Just don't let Tetsu hear that yet~"

The Weight of my pride do i really need that? Masaru was, in many ways, a simple man. He didn't have the esteemed lineage of that his wife did; his blood contributed none to Tetsuko's own birthright. He wasn't incredible intelligent like the guest in his car, nor did he have that deep questioning of what was just and what was selfish. A Hero was a Hero, in his eyes, so he found nothing but confusion in Elise claiming she was anything less. He simply grinned when Elise conceded she wanted others to see it the way he did, for in Masaru's eyes, anyone who felt differently was just a major jackass.
Indeed, it was quite easy to wonder how this straightforward man ended up marrying into the dignified and haughty Shindou family. That was a story for another time, however.
The Shindou father would find himself still feeling a bit bewildered by this conversation, as Elise continued to stress her point of not repeating the journeys of those who came before. He did have some of his own thoughts on that, but none that he dared to voice right now... As many of those words were spared for the ears of Ryouichi Shindou, if Masaru ever got a chance to say them.
"That's one way of lookin' at it." Was all the vague response he mustered. Hearing Elise claim that Tetsuko was smart in her own way earned a chuckle from Masaru, finding the statement quite amusing. "Yeah, that sounds like my daughter alright. Smart in our own ways, is how we Nakamura like to put it." The man joked, knowing full well that some of Tetsuko's extreme stubbornness might have come from his side of the family.
For a short time, the conversation had been idle and even pleasant, despite prior awkwardness. However, as the conversation naturally shifted towards an untouched topic, things started to take a bit of a turn. Masaru was stuck trying to calm his wife down as she started to slip into a fresh despair...
"N-No, w-w-why..." Miku would stammer out, unable to collect a single thought. Fortunately, although Masaru couldn't give his attention to her while driving, Elise could, and her grasping of Miku's hand did serve to snap the woman's attention back to something resembling reality. Masaru remained tense, notably so, as Elise spoke. Although her words were gentle, and her physical comfort kind, it was always hard to know how Miku might respond when she had these... 'Terrors'...
Desperate, despair-filled eyes would gaze into Elise's own as the Germanic lass spoke, a quivering lip indicating that Miku was shaken by the very mention of this topic. Inside her fractured mind, a storm raged.
Even if Elise's father had been there that day, his sacrifice wasn't necessary was it? Yes, it was his choice to make, but it wasn't a choice he had to walk down... Right? "E-E-Even s-so... W-Why couldn't I-I have b-b-been..." Miku didn't finish that sentence, leaving her words unclear, drifting off, as Elise's calming embrace brought some semblance of balance to an unbalanced mind.
To live for those were still there, for the sacrifices of those gone... Those words did resonate within Miku's mind, as she steadied herself and nodded slowly to Elise's words. "N-No... You're r-r-right..." Her stutter was a bit less pronounced, her words soft, but she seemed to have gathered herself a bit. The reminder that she still had reasons to live was an important one, after all...
'Because I still have... Things to atone for...'
A deeper darkness continued to creep, but that wasn't evident on the surface, as Miku began breathing carefully to collect herself, while Masaru breathed a sigh of relief. It was as much luck as anything else that she'd calmed down, but Elise's words had certainly helped... However, what he wasn't expecting, was what she'd then say to he himself. That Elise was carrying on her father's research. He didn't seem too surprised, and Miku was still too lost to truly hear it.
"...Ya don't have to do that. But I'm sure Tetsuko's already told you all that. But... Thank you..." Masaru would utter in a stoic tone. There was a hint of... Skepticism in his voice. Not directed towards' Elise's trustworthiness, but rather, the idea that any help yet remained for Miku Shindou. Perhaps skepticism wasn't what it was, but rather... Hopelessness. The tone of someone who didn't have any reason to grasp on to such a hope, not when so many had already been dashed...
Luckily, Elise's next comments, though earning a bittersweet smile from Miku, prompted a loud chuckle from Masaru, who saw a perfect opportunity to shift the conversation to more pleasant areas. "Hah, ya got some dreams, though I don't think the Itako procession is quite what ya think it is." There were some aspects of it Masaru knew quite well, after all.
"Actually, ya can see part of the ceremony this year... Each year they got a special couple durin' the iris festival, ya see. Always fun to watch..." His words were bittersweet, but still sweet. The City of Irises was a city of blooming, after all, so whatever happened... Life was sure to be found in the city of Itako, that they soon neared...
The conversation would continue on about Itako itself, about the beauty of the flowers, and the friendly townfolk, and the swordsmen that would be meeting, until their arrival came.
"Is that why we are attending again this year?" Back in the other car, Tetsuko inquired. It had been some years since her family had been, after all.
"Exactly right. The proximity to Katori and Kashima makes it ideal, for the two largest sword schools can discuss this problem..."
"Indeed~ It should prove elucidating, the opportunity to see what they think of it~
"Connecting with these swordsmen will be part of your responsibilities in the coming times too, Tetsuko-sama."
Gai and Ueno spoke after one another, making things ever more clear to Tetsuko. The City of Irises, were the swordsmen met, was the ideal place for this secret planning on how to deal with this threat... She was to help too... It seemed simple enough, however, there remained a lingering dread in the air.
How unfortunate, that it would be too long before she realized why that thick fog hung over her...
For in Itako, everything bloomed. There were no exceptions.

Meanwhile as the two vehicles started to make their way into the outskirts of Itako, at a nearby hill overlooking the city a young woman was found lazing under the shade of a tree. A sheathed blade was lying next to her while light footsteps approached the spot she was resting at. An elderly man dressed in a monk's robes approached her, an amused look upon his weathered features while the man hummed lightly. "Rise and shine Shizune, Master Iizasa is expecting you to greet our guests upon their arrival."The man stirred a lazy yawn from the young lady, seemingly called Shizune who slowly pushed herself into a seating position. "Is it already that late? Besides, I'm not even certain why I should attend." The old monk sighed in amusement as he clarified shortly afterward. "As the successor of his school, it is only to be expected that you'd be there to greet his guests. Besides, aren't you interested in meeting the young heiress of the famed Shindou family?"Shizune shook her head firmly in response, a hand being waved dismissively in return. "Can't say that I prefer doing that over playing the latest chapter of Monster Girl Adventure." The monk sighed sightly, knowing all too well that despite the great skill of the young lady, the swordswoman was quite cocky and overconfident, but perhaps today he had a weapon to use against her, namely a rumor he had heard. "It seems the Shindou will be accompanied by a foreign guest." The explanation only left the swordswoman bewildered, shrugging her shoulders lightly as she answered with a disinterested "And? Why should I care? It's likely some old geezer from a distant region." The monk however stepped beside her and gazed up at the sky, only subtly shifting his eye to look at her to see her reaction. "Quite the opposite actually. In fact, I heard it is a young maiden... Who can transform into a slime girl."It seemed that did the trick, for the girl bounced upright, a spark of liveliness in her eyes as she exclaimed excitedly. "THEY HAVE A MONSTER MUSUME AS THEIR GUEST?! Why didn't you say so before?! I gotta get there as quickly as possible!"And with a sudden dash the girl leaped down the hill, sheathed sword in hand while the monk laughed heartily at how predictable the girl's reaction had been. Meanwhile at the large plaza the Shindou entourage was expected to arrive at, the grandmaster, Iizasa Hayate was standing tall and proud, a young woman with raven hair at his left side, and a muscular giant of a man on the right. The man stroked his long beard idly as he watched the entourage's arrival before he laughed heartily, spreading his arms in an invitational gesture. "Right on time, as punctual as I have grown used of you Ryouichi, and welcome esteemed masters of the Jikishinkage-ryu and guests of the Shindou." Hayate's voice was pleasant, yet there was this feeling to his smile, a slyness in his eyes that reminded one of a fox. Elise herself was already feeling out of her element right away, remaining close to Tetsuko, as if to seek some reassurance in her presence, but even that would have not prepared her for what was about to follow. The female master at Hayate's side looked around, as if searching for someone. "Typical, I bet she went off on one of her 'adventures' again. That girl really needs a talking to... Missing the appointed time to greet our guests." The woman gruffed lightly while the giant of a man at the other side of the grandmaster laughed heartily. "Don't be too harsh on Shizune, she is of that age were kids are the most freespirited. Speaking of her..."The man raised his head, a hand held above his eyes as if he was scouring the sky for something, and as predicted a red bolt of energy was coursing straight toward the plaza! "WHERE IS THE MONSTER MUSUME?!"An excitable feminine voice pierced the sky, and it took all of Elise's reflexes and accuracy to leap to the side to avoid the impact of the red bolt of energy, which upon closer inspection appeared to be a young woman whose body was surging with some sort of crimson energy. "Oh, she dodged, to avoid that hug attempt takes some skill~"Elise couldn't help but smile weakly, seemingly quite in disbelief at what just happened. "T-That was a hug attempt?" looking at the small cracked tiles on the ground at the impact zone Elise couldn't help but think it was more like she had narrowly avoided a catapulted projectile! Looking from Masaru to Tetsuko it was clear that Elise was trying to get some affirmation about whether this was the normal course of action for a meeting in Itako! Shizune, Successor of the Tenshin Shōden Katori Shintō-ryū

The Weight of my pride do i really need that? The two vehicles, carrying esteemed swordmasters and a special guest, would arrive upon the outskirts of Itako in the West. From there, one could only just see the distant blooming fields of irises, which lay near the river in the city's east. Even from that distance, one could grasp the beauty that was blossoming nearby... However, the group from Kashima would soon be a bit distracted by that soft, gentle beauty by a much more lively reminder that the swordmasters of the modern era were, above all else... Kind of weird...
The two vehicles would pull up near Itako Station, on the Kashima Line. It would be a vaguely familiar sight to Elise, who had traveled the line a few times with Tetsuko, but had likely never stepped outside into the city of Itako itself.
Although the iris gardens were actually somewhat close, they weren't very visible at this point due to the geography of the area... However, if one strained themselves, they might be able to detect the faint scent of flowers pervading the air, carried by the breeze across the Hitachitone and Mae Rivers...
Once both cars arrived, Ryouichi Shindou's vehicle would be the first to open up. The Grandmaster himself would exit first, his imposing presence seeping into the air, yet his large form evidently did little to sway his old rival, Lizasa Hayate.
Tetsuko, Ueno, and Gai would follow shortly thereafter, the two masters standing at Ryouichi's sides while Tetsuko would be positioned a bit behind them. Ueno would bow his head respectfully towards the other masters, Gai smiling in that cunning yet innocent look he had perfected so well.
From the other vehicle, Masaru Shindou would depart, getting Elise's help to sit Miku in her wheelchair, before they too would join the welcome party. Tetsuko would smile reassuringly towards Elise, having a feeling that the Germanic lass might be a bit out of place among all the martial artists here... The ironblooded girl would be sure to stand clsoe to Elise so she could explain anything that needed to be added, but didn't speak just yet, lest she interrupt introductions between old friends...
There had always been something about the Katori Grandmaster that put Tetsuko a bit on edge. He reminded her a bit of Master Gai, in a way... A slyness behind every word, as though he was never quite what he seemed, even when he appeared to be displaying some level of honesty. Even though he didn't have the same raw physicality to him that Ryouichi did, the man seemed no less imposing to Tetsuko...
"Grandmaster Iizasa, it has been far too long. How fortunate we may meet once more in Itako." Ryouichi would greet in turn, his deep voice betraying little friendliness towards the man, though, that it was far more pleasant than his usual booming tone. For a moment, he glanced towards Elise. "May I introduce you to our guest, Elise von Eisenberg." Little more was said, even though it warranted explanation, as something else was on the Grandmaster's mind. "Pray tell, where is that successor of yours? I was told you'd be having her here too." He inquired, as an exchange between the other two masters indicated even they didn't know where Shizune was...
Only for her presence to be made very clear very quickly.
As the Kashima lot followed the muscular master's gaze, their eyes would widen upon the red streak falling from above. "What in the Gods name is..." Ueno began to ask, only for a much more informed and perceptive Master Gai to add his own comment upon the cry that pierced the sky.
"Brace for impact~"
The red bolt crashed down, and a young woman appeared! Her intentions quickly becoming known to the whole group... Masaru's jaw dropped, Ueno was utterly shocked, Ryouichi looked utterly confounded. Even Miku looked surprised. Tetsuko, meanwhile.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" Tetsuko blurted out, a defensive and almost offended look coloring her visage. Had this projectile just tried to tackle her girlfriend? This evidently wasn't some kind of greeting in Katori, so Tetsuko hadn't the foggiest what the hell this girl thought she was doing! Fortunately, Ryouichi caught on, and an audible sigh from him broke the silence of the growing tension and confusion.
"Shizune-san, I presume... So this is the successor you've chosen..." Hayate had always had quite the sense of humor, and a carelessness towards the whimsical compared to Ryouichi himself. With a deadpan look, Ryouichi stared at Hayate. "I should have expected no less from the Red Fox of Chiba..." His voice made it seem like he was moments away from lamenting what was wrong with kids these days...
Ueno managed to compose himself, clearing his throat loudly to collect everyone's attention. "Well, if you're done trying to divebomb our guest, we should be going, no?" There was a general agreement among them with that, Master Gai subtly moving to position himself between Shizune and Elise. "He's right~ Don't worry, you can chat with our guest after we've at least been through the day's proceedings~" He would tell the other girl, earning a sideways glare from Tetsuko. Like hell she was letting the crazy crimson lass near Elise after that!
Assuming there were no objections, the group would start to head off... With Miku and Masaru notably remaining behind... Yet the Shindou father assured they would catch up with them in a bit.
As the group of swordsmen began to walk, Elise might very well find herself wondering where they were going, as even Tetsuko didn't say much, still shocked from what had happened! Luckily, an old friend was walking beside her to help explain things.
"Eli-tan~ Bet you're filling a bit confused right about now~ Not just from the Mad Monster Musume Mistress!" Master Gai chuckled heartily at his own joke. "You see, right now, we're headed to the main gardens in Suigo Ayame~ That's the fields and parkland across the Mae River, which itself shoots off the Hitachi-Tone River... Which is the border between Chiba and Ibaraki... I'm sure you'll understand why this place is so special to them, hm?" He inquired, obviously based on the fact that Kashima and Katori were within the prefectures of Ibaraki and Chiba respectively... He'd make sure she understood before telling her a bit more about the layout of the town, as Elise had quite a bit to confuse her already... Especially after that attack!

Hayate couldn't help but grin at Ryouichi's words, yet the elderly man's eyes settled onto the Eisenberg lass upon the mentioning of her presence. "I see... So she is the one..." A glint of fascination in his eyes as his gaze shifted from Elise to Tetsuko, his lips curving into a grin. "It seems your granddaughter has changed compared to her last visit" He laughed heartily, yet as the subject was changed to the subject of his successor, the man paused for a moment, a hand reaching for his beard, giving it a light stroke before raising his hand lightly, a finger pointing upwards to the sky while he grinned in amusement. Indeed, the bolt of crimson energy descended rapidly, the look on the Kashima lot earning a smirk on the man who couldn't help but find himself so entertained at the dynamic entry of his successor.
"Haha~ Sorry for that, I guess I got a little bit too excited when I heard about the guest that be accompanying you." the girl exclaimed with a sheepish grin, a slight bow and a raise of her hand into a vertical pose showing a gesture of apologies.
Hayate couldn't help but smirk at Ryouichi's stare, nodding his head in acknowledgement. "She might be a handful, but her skill and personality makes it all the more worth the headache it brings~" The woman at his side groaned visibly. "It's because you give her attitude such slack that she is still a student, despite holding the strength and skill to become one of the masters." Yet the giant of a man opposite of her only laughed heartily. "You can't force a child to grow up too quickly, those things need their time, like a good old bottle of wine."
Shizune nodded her head lightly with a smile at Ueno's comment, and while Master Gai skillfully stepped between the two of them and addressed her, soon earned Shizune's undivided attention. "What a wonderful idea~" Yet as she glimpses sideways at Elise, the pink-haired lass felt a shiver run across her spine and rather rapidly stepped close to Tetsuko, wrapping her arms lightly around the girl's arm as if to seek protection! "Oho~" Shizune answered, her eyes sparking with interest as she leaned forwards to look at the duo. "It seems she is already claimed as someone's wife~"
The words earned a bright blush from Elise, while Hayate couldn't help but smirk in amusement at the shenanigans going on behind them. "So how have things been in Kashima lately? in Chiba we have been enjoying some recent attempts of the Kobayashi clan to expand their territory outside Tokyo, unfortunately for them they have been tossed straight back to where they came from... Literally"
He laughed softly, as if idly discussing a joke while Elise was listening attentively to Master Gai's explanation. "I guess that due to its location this place is considered neutral ground for both schools?"
At least that was the answer that made the most sense to her!

The Weight of my pride do i really need that? Tetsuko raised a brow at the old, grinning master, wondering just what he meant by that statement. Had he deciphered their relationship already? The thought was slightly embarrassing, but at the very least, she didn't think that was why her Grandfather had brought Elise here... It wasn't like him to make allowances that forwent tradition, but she realized if she was supposed to know why Elise had become a guest... Well, she would have been told. It was, in all likelihood, something to do with her family. That seemed the most likely answer. Regardless of the actual reason, Elise's presence was soon the casue of an unforeseen problem with the arrival of a certain excitable monster girl fan... Tetsuko had, in all fairness, met a fair few eccentric swordsmen in her life, but this was something else entirely. After all, this girl had dropped from the sky and exclaimed her intentions to hug Tetsuko's girlfriend. What a brazen display of disrespect! The other Kashima lot were also kind of surprised, but mostly just bewildered rather than offended. Even Ryouichi Shindou, with all his years of wisdom and experience, was a little shocked. However, when Hayate gave his explanation, it seemed to all become clear to the old headmaster. "I see... Yes, I'm beginning to see why this isn't all that surprising..." He mused. For as long as he'd known him, Hayate had always been the kind to be rather relaxed with how he disciplined his students. The man had taken a much more hands-off approach, letting their skills flourish with the flow, and their maturation come in time... Even if his fellow masters didn't always agree with such a philosophy. Nevertheless, the Katori master danced to his own tune, and this independence and flexibility was a staple of his teaching. Without much more shenanigans, they were off, with Elise making the very understandable choice to stick close to Tetsuko and away from the monster girl fanatic! However, this would also earn a somewhat flustering comment from Shizune, whose words had Tetsuko too blushing fiercly, her face in her palm. "Why is Katori like this..." Evidently, she seemed content to blame this on their rivalry, but honestly part of her did realize just how strange and flirtatious the other girl was! Meanwhile, Hayate and Ryouichi ended up speaking, the former giving his own 'reports' on the state of things in Katori. "I'm sure you've spared them no quarter." The larger man huffed. "If they worm their way into Katori, those yakuza will go straight into Kashima. We've managed to cut out what corruption any criminal elements have already tried to sow. We've been fortunate to remain in peace." Ryouichi Shindou asserted. It wasn't too surprising a statement. Few were stupid enough to try and take on the Shura of Ibaraki. A few steps over, Master Gai was explaining the geography and plans to Elise, the foreign master nodding enthusiastically to her answer. "That's exactly right~ Plus, there is some history here..." He leaned in, speaking more quietly as though sharing a secret. "Some say that the two headmasters did battle here in their youth! Might even be the reason for that scar on Ryouichi-sama's face~" He'd lean back up with a slight scandalous chuckle, speaking on without skipping a beat. "But yes~ Most of our training will be in Suigo Ayame, with some taking place in the twin shrines on either side of the Hitachi-Tone. The first, however, is much more beautiful~ Tis where we're headed now~"Indeed, if Elise raised her nose she might catch the pleasant scent on the air. Many of the Masters were quieter now, even Tetsuko looking beeming with excitement and anticipation as she neared a place she hadn't visited for far, far too long. As they neared the Suigo Ayame Gardens, Tetsuko would smile towards her girlfriend. "You're about to see why this place got its name."
Irises of soft, light, beautiful coloration stretch across fields, paths lining them and coursing through. Old-fashioned buildings stood to one side of the countless flowers, and on the other, the thin river that ran through them, through which some traditional boats were being led. Bridges stretched over the river, and over the flowers, dotting the area with plenty of vantage points with which to behold the beauty that defined this place, as the scent of flowers flew fragrantly through the air. This was Itako. This was the City of Irises. This was where the group of Kashima and Katori swordsmen would arrive, as Tetsuko looked towards Elise again, a single question posed. "It's beautiful, isn't it?

The old master was a peculiar one, as if the slight raise of the girl's brow was a sign he deciphered so easily, a soft hum of approval escaping his lips as he turned toward the girl's grandfather. "Ryouichi~ do you remember the old tale? Of the samurai who fell in love with the maiden he had sworn to protect? Quite a grand tale~" A peculiar inquiry for sure, but he started to clarify further. "There are plenty of ways to sharpen a sword, yet only a few methods which allow the wielder to become as strong as the weapon they wield."
He gestured with a hand toward Shizune as he hummed in amusement. "In her case, it is the freedom of traditions that gives her strength, to be given the choice of what responsibilities to bear, what rules to follow." His gaze shifted toward Tetsuko and then back to the girl's grandfather. "In the past your successor looked like she was about to be crushed under the weight of the responsibilities she carries, yet I dare say that now she seems a bit more resolute, like Atlas who has chosen to carry the weight of the world, and yet the source of her strength intrigues me."
Still, in the wake of her arrival, it seemed Shizune had stirred things quite firmly among the group. As they walked along the paths and streets Shizune's comment caused a mutual reaction of embarrassment from Elise and Tetsuko, both blushing firmly at the reference of Tetsuko having claimed her as her wife. Nonetheless, the reactions caused a glint of mischief in Shizune's eyes, as if she had just gained an idea of sorts.
While Ryouichi received his report from the elderly master, the response earned a soft chuckle of Hayate. "Hah, indeed, but you have to admit that they have grown bolder, to think there would be people foolish enough to challenge the Shura of Ibaraki or the Fox of Katori. Makes me wonder what is going on in Tokyo, are those city folk so pampered they can't kick them Kobayashi out of the sewers?"
The man chuckled softly at his jest while Elise listened attentively to Master Gai's explanation of the geography, to think that this might had been the area the two of them had dueled in their youth, and that the old fox-like master was actually strong enough to leave a scar on an amazing warrior like Tetsuko's grandfather!
Already the girl's imagination was stirring, wondering what type of grand battle had transpired. Still, the pleasant scent, the adorable smile on Tetsuko's lips as they arrived at their destination: a landscape adorned by flowers. Elise's eyes widened in surprise, and finally when Tetsuko spoke again Elise's thoughts snapped to reality, a sheepish smile on her lips as she nodded her head lightly in response. "Indeed~ It's so beautiful, yet among those flowers the most beautiful one is---"
Before Elise could even finish she felt a hand playfully trail along her waist, and Shizune had soundlessly emerged at her side, a flower in hand. "You~ the most beautiful flower that graces Itako in generations~"
Elise's cheeks turned scarlet red from embarrassment as she exclaimed in protest. "T-That's the type of thing I want Tetsu to say!"
Yet Shizune merely grinned challengingly at Tetsuko. "O mai~ A Knight who doesn't shower her princess with enough affection is such a tragic sign~ Perhaps it's time a more suitable knight takes her place~"
Of course Elise was quick to retaliate to that statement, darting over to Tetsuko's side and clinging to her lover's arm. "Nuuh! Tetsu is the only one I want!"
Yet the sight of the display was enough to make Hayate laugh heartily. "A warrior of Ibaraki and a warrior of Katori fighting for the hand of a fair maiden, seems like straight from an old story~" The man grinned from ear to ear as he looked at Ryouichi. "How about we start today's training with a friendly mock duel between the girls? Surely it will help deal with this tension."
Yet Shizune was quick to catch on that claim. "If you win I'll back off~ But if I win... I get a kiss from your princess~"
O boy, it seemed that Shizune was kindling the fire!

The Weight of my pride do i really need that? Ryouichi Shindou grimaced at the other Grandmaster's words, of samurai and love and maidens. A look of distaste, and harsh remembrance. "Spare me such tales. I don't care for your romanticised view of such things. Furthermore... Choose your words more carefully..." He would utter cryptically, glancing aside to the Fox of Katori. Only they knew the tale of how the Shura's fangs had been cut, so only Hayate would know exactly why Ryouichi did not take fondly to this romanticism.
Nonetheless, he did wish to hear why he had chosen the... Strange girl present as the successor to the esteemed style of Katori fencing. "Hmph. I won't question your interpretation, though I must say... It is very like you to choose someone like that. To deny the strength of our traditions even now... Age has not changed you..." He recalled the free-spirited lad being much the same when they were younger. He recalled it annoying him then as much as it annoyed him now. His next comments about how Tetsuko was bearing the responsibilities she'd been given would earn a slight look of surprise from the girl in question, and a cold look from her grandfather.
"If you ever thought my granddaughter would buckle, that was your own foolishness." Was all he said. Was all he needed to say. The faith he had in their bloodline was crystal clear.
They'd soon be walking along, all of them, Shizune's embarrassment still sitting with the two girls, while the other masters remained resolute. The old friends, or rather, old rivals, continued to speak with one another. Ryouichi would huff heartily, smiling at Hayate's comment about the pampered Masters in Tokyo. "I'm sure in Tokyo, they're still trying to pull the silver spoons out of their backsides. The number of Dojos and Masters is greater there, at the cost of quality. It's perhaps the reason that Tokyo and Musutafu have been the focus of them." He said, speaking subtly of the Dojo Hunter that had been threatening their existence already.
Meanwhile, Gai would explain some things to Elise, helping her get caught up to speed on the quite extensive history behind the place and people around them. This was, after all, a world completely foreign to Elise, and she wasn't exactly being given a chance to settle into things! Not only that, but the chaos would only increase from there...
When they got the gardens, staring out on it, Tetsuko couldn't help but begin to smile lightly at Elise's words, knowing right away what she was going to say in that adorkable way she always did... Only for Shizune to suddenly arrive and earn the Shindou girl's ire once more! "What the-" Tetsuko would blurt out, her expression turning to shock and outrage at Shizune's appearance. Not only that, it looked like Shizune had the gall to challenge her!
"Listen here, you..." Tetsuko began to mutter angrily as Elise clung to her side, though she was evidently a bit flustered too by this whole ordeal. Not quite as amused as a certain nearby master.
"I fear for how much of her behavior is due to your influence..." Ryouichi Shindou groaned, though, the idea didn't seem too far fetched. "Very well. They may duel if they wish. Let it be the first sign of our cooperation this year. That being said, we have other matters to attend to." Indeed, it even seemed like some of the other masters had already wandered off from the group, heading over to one of the more traditional buildings nearby.
"There are other Masters to convene with. That being said..." Ryouichi glanced towards Tetsuko. "You are to put a good fight."
"I have every intention of doing so!" Tetsuko would yell in a quick response, having grown quite hotheaded with the whole ordeal, her face reddening rapidly with the mention of a victory meaning Shizune got to kiss Elise! The old grandmaster sighed to himself, wandering off and hoping Hayate would follow. Everything bloomed in Itako. Rivalries were not an exception...
"Let's not waste any time. I think you'll smell the irises quite well with your face in the ground." Tetsuko taunted, gesturing with a nod of her head towards some of the small sparring rings set up on the outskirts of the garden.

Elise had gone quiet in the wake of the verbal exchange between Tetsuko and Shizune, her cheeks red while a part of her felt incredibly happy at how strong Tetsuko reacted to the challenge of the other swordswoman. Hayate merely smiled, a brief nod being given into Shizune's direction while Tetsuko clearly taunted the lass to accompany her to one of the small sparring rings. Once there the first thing that happened was perhaps peculiar for sure, she placed her sword at the edge of the ring and seemingly started to look around for something, after a few moments spotting a nearby large branch and returned to the sparring ring, explaining with a grin. "One of the rules we have here is that I am only allowed to use a proper weapon or actively use my Quirk against those who are classified as Master-level." Was she looking down upon Tetsuko? She turned toward Gai and hummed softly. "Ya can make the final call on ending the fight if it comes to that point." She laughed carefreely while hearing Tetsuko's taunt. "O really? I take it you haven't had the chance to enjoy your princess her flower either, your face must be too high in the clouds to enjoy that~" A taunt countered with a taunt, although Elise's blushing cheeks turned crimson and awkwardly scratched her cheek.
In all honesty, the joking taunt made the slime girl realize that despite the strong feelings between the two of them, and their blossoming relationship the physical aspect of their romance was somewhat slow to develop. Perhaps it was partly because she wanted to keep her promise to Tetsuko to move at a slower pace, but sometimes that knowledge made her wonder if something was missing. Especially considering their age, and the other couples at U.A they might had been the most innocent when it came to the more physical side of showing their affection for one another.
"Heh~ I bet you would be smelling the irises right around now if you saw your princess naked--- ah wait, you're likely the type to not know what to do, maybe even faint from an overheating?" Shizune laughed in amusement while Elise's face looked like it could blend in with the hue of her hair, fidgetting lightly while muttering something about a mutual knock-out. However, if Tetsuko wanted to get a fight she would get one!
Shizune had taken a stance of sorts that was reminiscent of the classic art of sword-drawing: Iajutsu. "Let's see if you at least remain standing after the first strike~" And with those words her eyes narrowed in a focused glare, her body disappearing in a flash of crimson as if a thunder bolt struck and reemerged right in front of Tetsuko, the branch thrust toward her torso, yet the eerie hue around the twig clearly suggested that if she was to be hit by it, it would be just as bad as getting penetrated by one of her Quirk-created blades!
Meanwhile Elise wordlessly stared at the start of their spar. "Tetsu..." she whispered softly, yet the look in her eyes clearly betrayed her thought that there was no doubt in her mind that her knight would win!

The Weight of my pride do i really need that? People like this really frustrated and infuriated Tetsuko. Those who couldn't take things seriously, those who only joked and laughed at the expense of others. The Shindou girl was grinding her teeth still even as they approached the sparring rings, and Shizune explained the rules of engagement, and she began to look down on Tetsuko. "You'll find I'm adequate, compared to you." Tetsuko uttered harshly, no shortage of venom on her tongue. It only grew more intense as Shizune conitnued to taunt and taunt, aiming her remarks at Elise in particular.
"Shut up, and show some damn respect if you actually want to fight me." The Shindou girl growled, her anger only growing more intense, and overpowering any sense of embarrassment that might otherwise be present. While Elise was filled with concerns about their actual physical relationship, all Tetsuko herself could think about was the offense and indignity that Shizune was showing right then and there. She was the successor to one of Japan's greatest sword schools, the least she could do was act like it!
Her blood was boiling with every remark Shizune made, particularly those towards Elise. Tetsuko really couldn't stand people like her, who just carelessly made remarks about others, whose 'teasing' was nothing but bullying in the end. Idiots who just uttered every thought that crossed their mind, was how Tetsuko saw this opponent of hers. Drawing her blade, the Shindou girl wondered just what about this other girl got so under her skin, only to come to a quick realization.
Countless had tried to insult her before. Only a few were as incredibly stupid enough, as remarkably idiotic... As to insult Elise right in front of Tetsuko Shindou.
That was a mistake that Shizune was going to pay very, very dearly for.
Tetsuko would breathe in her, her rage focused into something much more deadly. Even Master Gai, watching over the fight, raised a curious brow. A knowing one, at that.
"Ah, could this be...?" He wondered quietly to himself.
With her eyes narrowed strongly towards Shizune, Tetsuko was focused and furious. So when a flash came towards her, going straight for her torso, the Shindou girl would react with remarkable timing and focus. As the branch thrust toward her, the Shindou girl would immediately counter with her own thrust, deflecting it with her blade and pivoting her own point right for Shizune's shoulder!
"Let's see if you remain standing when you're torn to shreds." Tetsuko would utter angrily, before rearing back her blade and immediately launching into a flurry of strikes at Shizune, quite the far cry from her usual defensive style, it looked like she was going on the offense right away, and her angry utterances would quickly explain why.
"Don't you dare talk about Elise like that! Say another damn word about her or us, and I swear I'll slice off your fingers!" Quite the fury had overtaken Tetsuko in light of Shizune's indignity, so much so, that it seemed like the embarrassing nature of what was said didn't concern her; so much as just how shameless and rude this sorry excuse for Katori's successor was!
Master Gai grinned quietly. "Shura?"

There are many stories about the fox of Katori, but one that often is prevalent is their mastery over the art of manipulation and deception. She could see the conflict between the two girls their reactions, while Elise was getting more flustered and somewhat worried as she recalled the state of the physical nature of their relationship, Tetsuko clearly felt anger and disgust at the slights her princess had to endure.
It was ironic that the steel heart was able to endure so much, to be immovable in the face of taunts and comments, yet when those were aimed at her beloved princess? Her knight was bound to turn into a beserker. As Master Gai looked quietly on the ongoing battle and wondered softly, Elise looked at the start of the spar with baited breath. As expected Tetsuko parried the initial attack of the swordswoman, her eyes narrowing into a focused gaze while Tetsuko's blade thrust toward her shoulder when all of a sudden it seemed to deflect against 'something', it wasn't sure what but it clearly didn't hit the shoulder for the trajectory went slightly to the side after it got parried.
Tetsuko's anger utterance didn't go unnoticed by Elise either who looked worried, noticing how Tetsuko was unleashing a savage flurry of strikes at Shizune. Meanwhile her opponent nimbly seemed to evade and parry every blow, almost as if she anticipated the following trajectory of each attack. Finally after the final blow the fox's successor hopped backward, going out of Tetsuko's close-quarter range. "Tetsu!" Elise called out to her lover worriedly. "Don't be led into her mind games! I don't care what anyone else thinks about us! We love each other, and that is all that truly matters! Everything else will happen with time, just like we promised that day!" She had noticed, noticed that weird feeling in Tetsuko's attacks. However to her surprise it seemed something more was bound to happen.
"So the rumors were misfounded~" Shizune answered with a smirk as she tapped the crimson hued branch against her shoulder. "There was talk among the masters that your blade blunted after Semper Fi, but it seems they were just foolish concerns. After all that rage in your strikes is without a doubt the essence of Shura~"
She turned halfway between the direction Elise and Tetsuko were at and bowed deeply. "I apologize for my attitude till now, it was by all means very unbecoming of me, not to mention it's as clear as the sky above us that flirting with Elise is a futile endeavor, there is only room for you in her heart Tetsuko~"
She rose back upwards and discarded the branch she was holding. "But as crude as it was, I did succeed in drawing out the essence of Shura from you, Now don't be sheathing that rage you felt Tetsuko, learning to control and wield it as a second blade will be your way to succeed your grandfather. Speaking of succeeding, since I am fighting Shura's successor I guess I got permission to go all out~"
She smiled for a moment, a hand reaching for her eye-patch and as she removed it Tetsuko would no doubt notice something: rather than a regular iris, it almost seemed like the girl's covered eye's iris was made of... blood? Her crimson eye glanced straight at Tetsuko. "Ready yourself, it might not be as perfect as my master's but..."
Extending her hand toward the sheathed blade to her side Shizune slowly pulled out the blade, taking a Iajutsu stance when all of a sudden a series of red flashes came from around the arena, an exact replica of Shizune's sheathed stance being visible before they all lunged at Tetsuko from a cardinal direction! "I-Is she multiplying?!" To Elise it looked like that, but Master Gai would likely notice this was not a fear done by Quirk, but by literally pushing the human body to move at such a speed it left a visual after-image, for that was Shizune's power, her Quirk was all about enhancing the properties of her body and the objects she wielded, the quirk known as: Limit Break
But would Tetsuko know what Master Gai would? That in the end as each cardinal direction was closed in by the after-image, that the real Shizune would descend from above, her blade ready to sweep and slash into Tetsuko's shoulder if it landed?

The Weight of my pride
do i really need that? There were many stories about the so called 'Shura' that was known to exist among many great martial artists. Some of those were tales of triumph and incredible power, of fearsome might and will. Others were tales of a more cautionary sort.
The jury was still out on what exactly the tale of the esteemed 'Shura of Ibaraki' was supposed to indicate.
A rather unfortunate fact, as there was no doubt this old story was sure to influence Tetsuko's own...
Her anger was overflowing, giving rise to something entirely unlike the usual calm and defensive stylings of Jikishinkage-ryu. It was such that, even as her blade was deflected, her desire to cut her opponent did not waver at all. No, as Shizune so gracefully and nimbly anticipated the Shindou girl's blows, she only grew angrier. More frustrated and furious at the futility of her efforts. It was like a hunter trying to chase a fox with naught but his own knife. It was a situation where arrogance and power were so quickly overcome by sheer cleverness and cunning.
As Shizune escaped Tetsuko's range, she was about to rush in once more, only for Elise to call out and grab back her attention. Her face immediately softened against that worried tone, and as she listened to Elise's words, she found her heart being soothed and her rage subsiding somewhat. She was right after all... What did it matter what anyone else said about them? What did it matter, when they had each other? Why did she concern herself with such low words against their mighty feelings for one another...
Tetsuko began to steady her breathing, relaxing her stance somewhat, but still seeming more tense than usual. However, that tension would quickly give way to surprise and confusion, as Shizune explained her motives.
"Shura?"
Was this? That rage she'd felt, had it really been... Tetsuko knew, of course, exactly what it meant to be Shura, to channel that demon, but she'd never been taught how to before. Her Grandfather had always insisted it would come in time, and it seemed as though Shizune, with all the offense of insulting Tetsuko's lover in this place of peace, had managed to tease out a blossoming beast...
Shizune's apologies earned a raised brow from the doubtful Tetsuko, who was still unsure about this whole ordeal. Yet... If this was to be her chance, to try and control that powerful force that even her Grandfather had lost himself once to... The essence of Shura... Tetsuko stood up straight, holding her blade to the side and gazing firmly towards Shizune.
"I will not give you forgiveness, but gratitude..." The Shindou girl scoffed lightly to herself. "If this is to help me wield that essence, I'll take the challenge. I will become the Second Shura, if that's what it takes!" She pulled back into stance, breathing lowly and letting the instinct from before, the rage and beastly intent, come over her once again. They were both ready to go all out!
Shizune pulled off her eye-patch, revealing a crimson eye that was likely related to her own Quirk... Before taking in iaijutsu stance, making clear her intention for another attack... Only, things got much more intense from there, as replicas of the girl suddenly flashed over the arena! Tetsuko's eyes widened, as she assumed her own prepared stance, pulling her blade back in wakigamae. Which way was she coming from?
Master Gai grinned lightly as he watched on. "Her own rendition of the Fox's Illusions, hmm?"
Tetsuko had little chance to react, as the images soon began rushing towards her, leaving Tetsuko to choose which one to slash at! The Shindou girl tensed her muscles eyes widening as she readied to slice forward... She was about to try and sweep around and cut them all, when she noticed something right beneath her...
A shadow from above...
Immediately drawing out her own blade, Tetsuko would slash in a wide arc above her, attempting to slice in a crescent overhead! It hadn't even been thought that drew her to respond to that clue, it was pure instinct, as was her savage attack, which - if it connected with Shizune - would follow through to try and slam the other girl into the ground.
The Shura was coming quite naturally to her...
