“I think it’s different for some schools but it maybe worth checking.” Emi replied, thinking about how her own school had handled it. “They might have some other people handling the money, like the treasurer or an entire group of people, either way, a sweep of the school before ignition should do it for us,” She explained, walking through the hallways while looking around. There was just something eerie about walking around an empty school at night, hearing nothing but your own voice, in this case voices, and footsteps echoing the empty halls. It was like a scene straight out of a ghost film.
Shortly they came upon a room filled with chairs and desks. ‘A classroom.’ Emi thought, recognizing the easily identifiable arrangement of desks. “These things shouldn’t be worth the effort.” She nudged the closest desk with her fist. “Not worth taking out. Let’s check inside that cabinet over there.” She walked over to the metal cabinet behind a desk separate and different from the rest. “Must be the teachers.
“School huh…” She briefly thought about her time at school, a time that she could remember clearly with hate. “It was at first.” She blasted the lock clean off with a controlled burst of white phosphorus. The slag that was once the lock dropped to the floor thud. “I hated it.” She said with a tone that implied that she wanted the subject dropped. “Now let’s see what’s in here, then we’ll do a sweep of the other classrooms before heading over to the faculty and staff rooms.” She slowly opened the cabinet and looked at what’s inside.

It was a little confusing, learning about how a school ran and functioned, but she imagined it would make more sense in a language she understood. Emi was right though. So long as they looked around the school carefully and took their time--they weren't in a rush--they'd find something, or not. It would be fun either way. If all the rooms had little desks like these then the search could go by quicker, too. That was both good and a little boring.
The cabinet creaked open with it lock broken off, the metal slightly warped to the point that it couldn't close right. Inside were standard teacher's tools. Books with example lesson plans, a jar full of pencils with colorful patterns and bright detachable erasers on the ends, a couple instant coffee packets, and the object that had its plug snaking through a hole in the back: a small school-standard laptop, with the name of the teacher written on a piece of tape stretched across its face. Byeol-Su didn't care about the name, so she didn't care to read it. She was more interested in what Emi was saying.
"Why did you hate it? Was it bad?" Her voice, though always curious, was somewhat more cautious than her previous question. People didn't like talking about things they hated most of the time. "Have never been to one, do not know what it is like, except for what have seen in books or in show. It always look so fun in anime. I know that is fake, but I kind of wanted..."
There was a faint pulse, a trickle, of sadness through the bond.
"Sorry if am rude, but...you not make friends because of your fire, did you?"

“Heh, got it in one.” Emi chuckled dryly as she gave the contents of the cabinet a brief look through. Nothing of much worth caught her attention, it was mostly writing implements, books, and papers. The only thing that caught her interest was the laptop she assumed belonged to the teacher’s. “Nobody really likes fire girl, who cares about how fire girl feels?” She said in a mocking fake low pitched voice. “I just wanted to help…” She whispered and let her hands drop to her sides. She sucked in a deep breath and shook her head. “But enough about me and my troubles, we’ve got work to do.”
She unplugged the plug and tucked the device and its charger under her arm. “Tut, tut, sensei. Leaving electronic devices plugged in near flammable items is a safety hazard.” She joked as she closed the cabinet “That’s about it for this room, shall we check the other classrooms to see if they have anything of value too or should we skip right to the administrative stuff rooms of the school?” She asked Parasyte as she left the room and waited out in the hallways for her response. “Maybe find a bag or two to put our stuff in?”

Byeol-Su was never good at reading peoples moods. Even when she was sharing a body with another person, their feelings were kept apart from hers, giving her as much insight into their thoughts and emotions as anyone may have from the outside, on top of being unable to see their face or body language. Emi wasn't trying to be particularly subtle with her movements and her words gave Byeol-Su enough of an answer to her question, but she still couldn't understand everything. Why would anybody not like her? She was nice, and even she said she wanted to help. Her gift was a little scary, sure, but people with scary gifts could be just as kind as people with cool or beautiful gifts could be mean. Byeol-Su understood that feeling perfectly.
"They were dumb. Did not know what they missed. I like you."
She meant it, too. She liked all her friends. Some more than others, but at the end of the day, they were all in that channel for the same reasons.
Sort of.
Laptop in tow the two of them returned to the hallway. Through Emi's eyes she saw so many more rooms, but how many of them could have things that were worth taking? Aside from more laptops, they probably didn't have much else to offer. Bags on the other hand... "Ooh, there are place that the students put their bag, yes? Maybe there are cute one! Even if not worth any money would like one. Like a soup...shoe...souvenir? Is the word?"
"Other rooms can have more computer, but do not need so many, do you think so? Oracle probably would buy for pieces if nothing else of worth. Keep going until find better room? Principle, or...school doctor? Nurse?"

“I…” Well what did she say to something like that? “Thanks.” She finally said. “If only more people thought that.” She commented. “For the record I like you too, in the friend kind of way. Your power is a bit strange but hey, we all got our quirks...Not the Quirk quirks, the different strangeness quirks...I’ve made this confusing, shutting up now.” She silenced herself as she began to walk as she listened to what Parasyte had to say about what to do next. She recommended looking for a bag to put any potential valuables in. “Souveneir is the right one.” She answered while in thought. “I’m not sure if there’ll be a bag there because it’s summer and they probably took their stuff, but let’s see if we get lucky. We can put stuff in my bag if we don’t find any.”
“Probably not, let’s get to the nurse and steal whatever they’ve got, probably some medicine, bandages, and candies.” She began to list off possible loot as she continued to walk to where the bags usually should be. “We can move on to the principal’s or other staff’s room for the money afterwards before burning this place down.” She planned out loud as they arrived at the next location.

Emi earned a giggle from her response, even though she herself fumbled a little in embarrassment. Or was it that she was happy? Byeol-Su couldn't tell, really, but she hoped that Emi was so happy about being liked that she wasn't able to talk straight. That would be funny and nice. "Quirks like the word for 'oddities', sort of? Understand. And thank you for liking me back!" She giggled again; it made the unattached mouth below Emi's ear vibrate in a weird way, but not an unpleasant one. "Have always called them 'gifts'. It is less confusing, but does not always translate right. Quirk is weird word."
As they went down the hallways they passed numerous posters for club activities, a few for the student council election for second term, and one or two just for general health or safety practices. There was a consistent theme of summer among them; sun rays, blue skies, bright colors...it gave the hall a warm feeling to it that wasn't related to the literal warm air that hung thick in the school. With the air conditioner off and windows closed it was almost a little unbearable. Thank goodness she was inside a host.
Near the proper front entrance of the school--rather than the side-entrance that they'd come through, past the sports yard and chain-link gate--there were rows of wooden cubbyholes, each with names of the student who owned them on the front, as well racks closer to the door itself for outdoor shoes or rain boots. Most of them were empty as anticipated, but some had raincoats left hanging inside them, some had books left on the shelf above the coat hanger, and one or two had a bag or backpack left over. Perhaps their owners had been sent home sick the final day of term or simply were owned by forgetful children and, thus, the bags had been left here, full of whatever books or toys they'd brought that day. They were all pretty small.
A sign hung on the corner between the entryway and the main hall, giving the direction of the main office, nurse office, and numbered classrooms.
"Candies?" Byeol-Su was immediately distracted from the task at hand. "Nurse have candies? OH! Think there are snacks in the place where food is kept? Should go and get them and eat anything good? There is so much to do in a school that I did not think about! Ooh, and place where food is may have things that burn really good, or even explode when too hot..."
There was a pause, like she was debating whether explosive oils or stoves were a detriment to their plan due to their danger, or an added bonus for it.
"...when gas explode, is smoke bad, too? Because is k...kem...chemical?"

“Agreed, I mean, who’s the genius that decided to call them Quirks anyways? Why not something like, I don’t know, mutations?” Emi agreed with Parasyte.
They passed by several school things that kept reminding Emi of her time in school. It was starting to get harder to resist the urge to engulf the place in flame. ‘Burn it all...burn it alll…’ The little voice in the back of her head softly tempted. Emi simply stopped for a few minutes to take a few deep breaths. “Phew…” She sighed. “We should move faster, I’m starting to feel the urge to set the whole place burning and it’s getting…” Her fingers twitched as her hands clenched. “Very hard to ignore…”
“Well looks like you’re in luck Parasyte, there’s a couple of bags in here.” Emi commented as she picked up two bags that had been left behind in the cubbyholes. She emptied both bags, unceremoniously dumping the unneeded contents onto the floor and stuffing their current haul of one laptop in one bag. “This ought to do it.” She declared, putting on one loop over her shoulder. “Yeah some clinics have candies for kids who behave. Ehh...cafeteria shouldn’t have anything because no one’s here but yeah we could totally start the fire there.” Emi began walking in the direction of the clinic.
“I don’t think so, but pure gas is nasty if I recall correctly. What I’m worried about is if the gas tanks would explode or not…”

"Urge is bad, yes? Then we will make nurse our last stop, then find place to start the fire!" Byeol-Su's voice was no more urgent or worried than normal, positive that whatever "urges" Emi was talking about couldn't be so bad. All people had those sorts of feelings, right? And people could be talked out of those feelings, too, right? Like when she got the urge to do something she knew would get her in trouble, but reminded herself that, yes, eating all the mochi in the icebox would be fun right now, but she would get a very bad stomachache and be scolded afterwards, so it wasn't worth it. She would just have to give Emi the same sort of reminder if things got too dangerous.
Though what could you tell somebody who liked fire so much to get them not to stand in the middle of it? Was Emi fire-proof? Maybe reminding her that she wasn't and that she would get burned would snap her out of it.
Everything was turning out really well for them, too! From the building being totally empty, finding a laptop they could sell, to even finding a couple bags left behind; this was going just as they hoped it could. And there was even the prospect of candy! This was so much fun! "Yay, candy! Is it even more mean to take and eat it than let it melt? Not that any child would know, it is still kind of funny." The mouth on Emi's jaw hummed, vibrating in a weird way that Byeol-Su could feel through their shared senses. Weird. "So if it explode, maybe should set fire off close to it but not on it, so we have time to not be where it will explode. Will also make a lot of noise. Bad for us."
"Buuut would also be fun to see," she giggled, "Like fireworks! Only closer to the ground and a lot more fire. Can you make trail of it, like in movies? Could lead it out the door, or around the school. Burn a pattern in grass!"
Okay, that might be counter-productive to making it look like an accident.

“I mean, urges being bad really depend on the urge...in my case the urge to set fires. So yes, that’s bad.” She explained. “Sometimes the urge to burn comes so suddenly in public that I have set a few trash cans on fire…” She shuddered in delight as the memory surfaced. “A-anyways, next stop on the Emi Express, the nurse’s office slash clinic. Whatever it's called.” With those words uttered she began to make her way to the nurse’s office. She was walking at a brisk pace, almost breaking into a jog.
“If anything it’s less mean to take it than leaving it to melt. At least this way it’s not wasted and it’s being used for its intended purpose. Being a sweet treat.” Hastened by the urge to set aflame she hastily opened the door to the clinic and dashed in. She eyed a jar of colorful sweet treats sitting on a long white desk with drawers. “There!” She whispered excitedly as she picked the whole jar up and stuffed it into the bag. She then began to rifle through the drawers and shelves, grabbing everything that she could fit into the bag.
In the end it looked like a hurricane had made its way through the clinic. Papers lay scattered and drawers were disheveled. She had managed to find some bandages and some low strength painkillers and flu medication. “About what I expected…see anything I missed?”

Byeol-Su wasn't sure if she should press on why Emi got those urges to set nearby things on fire; it felt like on of the things people didn't want to explain or couldn't explain, like a lot of what he didn't like to talk about. She learned a long time ago when to stop asking questions. More recently she'd started actually applying that lesson to real life. She did want to ask if Emi was fire-proof just to be sure her idea would work, but that could wait...right?
"What kind of candy do you like? Or sweet treats? I love ice cream a lot, it keeps me cold and taste is so good! Sometime hard candy is good, too." Now this was a subject she could really sink her teeth into. Literally. Once they reached the nurse's office Emi's eyes scanned for anything important, and Byeol-Su simply looked out from behind her eyes. It was pretty standard for a school clinic: a stark white room filled with medical supplies and beds shrouded with white curtains, walls hung with posters promoting good nutrition or reminders to get your flu shots--a little out-of-season, but it was unlikely they changed the posters very often. To Byeol-Su, though...
There was a pulse of unease over the connection. "This is not a fun place. Do not like it here." Her voice came out tensely, filled with a very childish but genuine kind of bitterness. White room. Medical supplies. Isolation.
Bad. Bad. BAD.
"Do not see anything else. Let us go. Please."

Emi hummed to herself as she thought of an answer to Parasyte’s question. “I pretty much like all manners of desserts, it takes a special kind of being a b-” She held herself back as she thought if she should swear around Parasyte. “Brat.” She continued without skipping a beat. “It takes a special kind of being a brat to be especially picky about sweets. “But I pretty much prefer things with chocolate, or just chocolate in particular, though sometimes cheesecake is a luxurious treat for me, especially if it has chocolates.” She tutted. “Shame I can’t eat chocolate while...burning stuff, fire tends to melt the things and the last time I tried to do that I burned my tongue a bit.
If she sensed Parasyte’s unease in being in the clinic then Emi didn’t show it, what she did though is happily skip out of the clinic with a crazed smile on her face. “Of to the cafeteria we go~” She sang quietly as she made her way to the cafeteria. The cafeteria looked like any other cafeteria she’d seen before. A place to order and get food on one side, a speaker on the wall for announcements, small chairs and tables for the students. It made her feel nostalgic in a way, and she didn’t like that. Without another another word she quickly crossed the cafeteria floor and made her way into the kitchen.
“Welcome to the place where we begin our blaze.”

"B...ba...bitch? Agree! Did you want to say bitch? Have heard a lot worse words in the chat," Byeol-Su giggled, the skin near her mouth vibrating a little, which always felt odd to her shared nerves but was something she was used to. New hosts, not as much. "Do not need to--"
Then something very strange came from her mouth. To her it sounded as if the word had been said correctly. Emi, though, would not hear it. Instead she heard only a noise. It was not a sound that the human voice could--should--make, nor did it sound like anything any living creature were able to produce. It sounded mechanical; high-pitched and keening, painful to hear, like a loose wire in an audio device. Or, simply, like very harsh static.
"--▓██░▒█--"
--censor--
And then her voice was back to normal again.
"--your words for me." And without missing a beat she continued to speak. "Chocolate melt so easy, too. Or burns which is even worse. I once try the melted chocolate on food thing. Fond do? That was good but it was too hot for me to eat with my mouth. Host had to eat it for me. Still taste so good!"
The faster they left the nurses' office and the further away it was, the better Byeol-Su felt. She didn't like that place, not at all. She could go forever without ever being in a medical facility ever, ever, ever again. Ever. But she knew somehow that wasn't going to happen. She healed, but some of the things that happened to her could not be healed by her body. He could only do so much without a hospital. So long as she was hosted, though, it would be fine. Right? Right. By the time she was back to feeling good the two of them--one of them--had come into the cafeteria. It looked like a cafe which explained its name. She didn't have a lot of time to observe it before they moved on into the kitchen, which was a lot more familiar to her. Their hotel room had a fully working kitchen, although she didn't use it herself.
"War Crime," she spoke a little slower, aware of a line she could see that she didn't know if she should toe yet or not. But his words outweighed her worries. "Remember, to make it look like accident? To not make too much a scene? The explosion these can make is not to be too much, is it?"

“Yeah that’s the word. Sorry, I didn’t know if I was supposed to, or could, swear around you.” Emi apologized for the self censoring she did. “Also yeowch my ears.” She commented, bringing up a hand to clear her ears. “You ever try doing dial up noises with that?” She hummed in agreement.”I think that’s just called a chocolate fountain Parasyte, I think fondue is the one with the melted cheese, also delicious by the way and kinda weird. I’ve seen people dip strawberries in melted cheese. It’s nice but still, very weird.”
“Yes, yes, I remember to make things look like an accident.” She looked around the kitchen. “I know what I’m doing.” She began to rummage around the kitchen and began sealing the room as much as she could. From locking windows and doors, to sealing vents by jamming papers onto them. Her plan was to seal the kitchen and open but not light the stoves, causing the gas to leak throughout the room but never really leave.
Once she deemed the room sealed enough she turned on the gas stoves, blowing out the flames and left the kitchen, closing the door behind her. “Now we wait for the room to fill with gas then kaboom, fiery explosion.

Byeol-Su felt a little bad about the sound as it hit Emi's ears, and the pain that lingered for a moment in their heads. It was never pleasant to hear. If she was more careful then her friends wouldn't need to feel it anymore. She should...ah, well, she got over it quick enough. "D-dial up? No. No, I can not make it make other sound. I can do fun thing with it sometimes. Like say word that can not say, in place where should be a bad word! Heh."
"Cheese is weird. Friend like it, those cheese that smell weird and almost hurt to eat. Almost sour, like lemons! Ueg! Do not get that thing at all."
They went about doing things Byeol-Su didn't understand the purpose of. She knew gasoline would explode now, and knew they could fill the room with it, but how much was she planning on letting fill the room? Only as much as was needed, right? How big of an explosion was this going to be?
Could they outrun an explosion?
"Are you sure it is safe to let it be so big?" She murmured, unease leaking through the bond. "It a big room, is a lot of gas. Can you light at a distant?"
If she went too far, she told Byeol-Su to stop her. But what was 'too far'? Now? If she didn't try to set it off at a far enough spot? Maybe only if she got hurt in the first place? Come to think of it, was she immune to her gas?

“Well that’s fancy, bit spooky but I can get behind that.” She said as her mind briefly considered the things one could do with self censorship sounds. “Though I would prefer swearing over bleeping myself personally, makes it feel more personal, you know?” She declared. “Anyways, back to getting this fire started.” She chuckled at her complaints about cheese. “Yeah cheese can be weird sometimes. I like the common cheeses, I can’t seem to like the more exotic ones though, heck one of those exotic cheeses has maggots in them. Maggots! Can you believe it?”
“Relax, I know what I’m doing.” Emi dismissed Parasyte’s concerns with the confidence of a woman who was also a practiced firestarter. “Since I’m filling up the room, it’s practically a bomb waiting to go off. Which is why I’m about to set the timer.” She brought her hand up and walked towards the shut door of the gas filling room. “I told you right, my Quirk isn’t a true fire Quirk, it’s a chemical weapon one, a chemical weapon banned from use in wars.” She placed a hand adoringly on the door before wiping some of her white Phosphorus on the door, setting the door alight and beginning to burn away at the wood. Very soon the gas and flames would meet after burning through the door and cause a fiery explosion
WIthout another word she turns heel and runs as fast as her legs could carry her out of the school.
