Hey, she knew that anime! “Oh yeah, I know it! I especially like how it’s all about weaker characters managing to overcome the odds through ingenuity! That’s exactly what makes fighting so exciting… You can have all the numbers, and still be surprised by who wins! Intelligence, creativity, and even just good old fashioned willpower all play a part!” Shouko got pumped thinking about it. Of course, the series did have it’s share of failings, and the complicated pseudoscience behind it all hurt her head… But the character that Yumi was talking about, wasn’t too horrible of an offender! “Yeah, that would be a killer secret weapon! Good luck! I’m rooting for you!” As usual, Shouko just wanted to see cool stuff in action!
Shouko shook her head frantically as Yumi explained. “Yes! That makes perfect sense! Though testing it using real bullets sounds terrifying…. Which teacher was this, again!?” Even the battle maniac Shouko was considering staying veeeeery far away from that person! Sure, they weren’t aimed directly at her… But it was guns, you know, guns! Accidents still happen! No thank you! In English, No Thank You! Especially close enough to be affected by that barrier? It made Shouko tense up just thinking about it!
What? Just because she was a battle maniac didn’t mean she was fearless!
As Yumi grabbed at her waist, Shouko’s attention was naturally drawn to it. Her upperclassman certainly had a nice figure! How envious! The type where all the fat goes to you-know-where! “Well. It’s a particularly nice flesh bag, at least?” The girl joked back. She wasn’t aware of the changes it had gone through, nor was she particularly concerned by it! Although she couldn’t help but glance downwards at herself… Just for a moment!
“Huh, really? You think so? I mean, the hard part is going to be finding the specific ionization frequency that your electricity produces, especially when you’re using it to create electromagnetic forces… You’ll need some specialized equipment for that. After that it’s just developing a lens that shifts the wavelength until those ionized particles are in the visible spectrum, sooo… Well, I’m happy I could be of help to you, Yumi-senpai!” Shouko finished with a bright smile on her face. Who would have thought that she, Iwasaka Shouko, would be coming up with ideas approved of by one of the school’s top students! How could she not hold some pride after that?
With Yumi turning back around… Well it was true that her outfit was even more revealing than Shouko’s… But… Ahh! It was so embarrassing! “I don’t know how you do it, Yumi-senpai! I mean, even with making the skirt as long as I can, it’s still way too much skin! How do you deal with the embarrassment!?” She asked, half crying. What was her secret!? In Shouko’s own case, she bit it down using the adrenaline rush from battle… But here, they hadn’t even started, and Yumi was just as fine as ever! In fact, she’d been so calm, that Shouko had hardly noticed there was something to be embarrassed about until Yumi had drawn her attention downwards!
As for whether to have her hold back or not, once more, the tripartite mind convened. First was the argument of the Superpower Maniac, who decried any reason for seeing anything less than the coolest high her senpai could do! But the Battle Maniac argued that they’d see more over time if the match lasted longer! The Superpowered Battle Maniac was the tiebreaker, agreeing with the latter viewpoint- If Yumi were to be serious, there would be nothing for Shouko to observe but the back of her eyelids! With a sheepish chuckle, “Ehehe… As much as I want to say no… If you would, I’d appreciate it.”
With that settled, the match would begin! Shouko would begin by stepping forward quickly, hunching her body over to make as small a target as possible. Yumi was a ranged specialist, so the more damage Shouko took before getting close, the worse for her! And since getting in range was of utmost importance, she chose not to form her heavy stone clubs. As much power as they represented, they would slow her down! And against a sniper such as Yumi-senpai, that would be fatal!

Yumi beamed brightly as shouko seemed to catch on to what she was referring to. It was definitely an old anime at this point but a classic it seemed s the visuals at the very least seemed to resonate with the other girl. Seemed they had something in common at least when it came to anime, ya know, beyond the fact they both went to a school used to train super powered teens into forces of good and law enforcement…yeah that thing they had in common could be easily glossed over if Yumi potentially had someone new she could talk anime with.
“Yeah, I mean, it’d definitely be effective too! Add a physical punch to my electricity! I mean as much damage as my shocks can do, I hardly have the output needed to burst through a brick wall or anything like that, so adding a physical element would definitely help!”
As she asked what teacher tested bullets with her, she’d simply state. “Oh, you know Geist Sensei used to be a villain right? I used him to help me. He doesn’t use guns as part of his arsenal any more but it was pretty much a go to for any criminal, and with his skill, I knew he’d have good aim.” She didn’t even see the issue with letting a teacher shoot her, partly because some precautions had been taken. Geist always aimed low on her body, places a wound would definitely sting but should have never been fatal given their on site resources, and even then, again, she definitely trusted his aim, especially since he’d demonstrated the practice before he’d allow her to fully consent to the practical test of her repulsion field.
“Hehehe. Yeah I guesss…shoulda seen it at the beginning of the year though.” She stated, still a little flustered as she realized she’d lost all of her healthy baby fat she used to be coated in. Normally she’d have needed that to even function properly while using her quirk, but through her training the special muscle fibres that generated her electricity had grown much more efficient. She still ate like hell, but she no longer seemed to need carbs stored by the truck load it seemed, which was…nice, if still an oddly stunning realization.
“Yeah, it definitely won’t be easy…” She commented, tapping her chin. She’d need a lot of help from students in the support classes who were focused on gear making to even know where to begin, and even then she’d likely need special appointments and permissions from the hero association to even test for such things. The equipment she’d need would likely be highly specialized afterall, and a girl who was recommended to the school because she accidentally zapped someone when she was spooked…yeah, she’d need a lot of formal letters to even get near such expensive equipment. “But…I’m sure I can figure it out…”
With the conversation shifting to their relative states of exposure / undress, Yumi gave a slightly sheepish smile as she rubbed the back of her neck. In truth, the answer was kind of simple. “I mean…I’m just not embaressed I guess?” She shrugged with her hands on the hips, glancing off to the side, not about to bore Shouko or weird her out by explaining how her mind just seemed to work differently from everyone but- “I’ve just never been embaressed about my body. I mean…maybe it’s because I’m bisexual? I guess I used to be a little nervous but when you spend time changing in rooms full of people you’re attracted to you kinda adjust…in at the deep end and all that.” She chuckled, knowing that was in no way the reason but it seemed like a funny enough answer to get the two laughing. “But just…generally, I like to let my skin breathe and feel comfortable in what I wear. Just turns out what makes me comfortable is stuff that doesn’t weigh be down or restrict me, so either stuff like this that’’s practically nothing, or really loose stuff like cargo pants and stuff. Bit of a weird fashion choice in comparison to eachother but…so long as I’m comfortable, who cares what everyone thinks…right?”
She tried to connect that line between them a bit more, cupping her own chin as she thought curiously. “Like…you said someone else designed this right? I assume it’s not something you just conjure up with your quirk or anything then, but you also said you chose how long the skirt was, so you certainly had input…so I have to ask, if it makes you uncomfortable visually, what’s the reason you stuck with it?” She hummed in thought, thinking idly allowed. “Is it because it’s rock armor? Was it too restrictive to have it like full plate mail? I mean I imagine rocks can catch on eachother a lot…” She shrugged a little, not wanting to step on toes, and hoping Shouko would explain, ultimately saying either way. “Really, what’s important is your comfort and your ability to do what you wanna do. If you feel exposed, maybe consider wearing a bodysuit under your armor. May not be as well designed, but if your worried you look embaressing, it’s best to make sure you aren’t. Can’t fight properly if you’re too worried about people looking at your midrift right?”
She hoped she sounded more encouraging and reasonable than not, but Yumi was aware her obliviousness could always be a detriment when she tried to give advice.
As they got into their battle positions, Yumi nodded across as she charged herself up and got ready to move. “No worries. I’ll tone myself down a little.” She shared a warm, hopefully reassuring smile as she narrowed her gaze. The moment the two of them seemed to be assured they were ready to start, her eyes would shoot off to the side, almost as if looking at something past the other girl then at her directly. “GO!”
A slim slither of electricity seemed to dart out from her, a flash of energy, no bigger than a football, bursting out when it seemed to reach it’s end point a few feet from Yumi. What followed was the key of the trick though. Yumi rocketed towards the flash she’d created, at incredible speeds, comparable to those Darren had showed at the sports festival. Funnily enough, how she was moving was a technique she’d specifically been leaning from him. Her eyes shifted again, this time towards the floor close to Shouko. Another quick dart, and another after that, and another, each one a blink and miss it moment, zig sagging her approach to the girl she wasn’t incredibly sure on the quirk of.
As much as Yumi was a long range fighter, she was using the chance to go easy to practice a more in your face style. As she zipped infront of Shouko, her momentum thrown into the girl a little, one arm latched onto Shouko’s bicep as the other hand reared back, electricity charging in her palm, aiming to blast it down directly into Shouko’s chest piece with a slam of her hand as she tried to use her momentum to knock Shouko off her feet.
tldr
Yumi readied herself and yelled go Using speed at about C rank to dart towards her in a zig zag motion Grabs her arm in one hand, tries to throw an electrically carged palm into her torso with the other, trying to knock her off balance with the momentum of her assault. Attack is roughly D rank as Yumi is initially testing what she can handle Also give the battle dress I know Yumi would find it very hard to knock her off balance.

Shouko nodded enthusiastically- “That’s right! It never hurts to vary up what you can do… Makes it harder to plan for! Especially if you go up against someone like Yojin-senpai who uses his engineering skills to plan around his opponent’s abilities… He can make a rubber bodysuit, but it won’t do much against a metal slug!” Although from what she had seen of Yojin, he probably wouldn’t stop at a body suit…. This was the boy who had brought a flamethrower to a tournament because his opponent used plants, after all! Although that had ended up biting him in the rear!
As for Geist-sensei being a villain… Wow, that was news! “Really? He was!? Is that really okay…?” A villain for a teacher… Using guns against students? But, eh… Considering the school had spared no expense thus far… It was probably fine? At the very least, no one had died. That she knew of. And the sports festival results spoke for themselves! Still, training with live ammunition was a bad idea, so Shouko resolutely decided never to ask Geist-sensei for help with training! Though it seemed he was fine as long as it wasn’t one on one, as he was already helping her with some other projects on the side… Well, it should work out somehow!
As far as Yumi’s costume went, Shouko could only give advice! She was glad that it seemed plausible, but the actual testing could only be done by Yumi herself! “Nope, it won’t! But I’m sure you can do it! You are Yumi-senpai, after all!” Shouko cheered the older girl on! That’s right! Where there was a will, there was a way! “Hang in there!”
But as far as Yumi!s lack of embarrassment towards her state of dress, Shouko could… Not quite understand it? “I mean, I’m not embarrassed about it, when I’m in the heat of battle… But that’s more, if I let myself be distracted by it, I’d lose?” It wasn’t a state of mind she could keep up permanently, the way Yumi did! She had been hoping to pick up some tips for it from Yumi-senpai… But it seemed their experiences were just two far apart! “Bi… sexual?” The brunette asked innocently, the term as yet unfamiliar to her. Having never paid much attention to people themselves, stuff like that was simply foreign to her! The girl’s head would tilt in confusion, as though Yumi was speaking Greek as she talked about being attracted to people around her- Wasn’t being attracted to people normal?
Well, the two girls were thinking about two completely different types of attraction, after all.
Still, while it was likely to be an illuminating conversation, it was no further to solving the stone-clad girl’s problem. “Oh, no, I designed it and carved it out myself!” Contrary to her upperclassman’s expectation, this hell was entirely of her own making! “I suppose I should start at the beginning. My quirk causes layers of stone to constantly build up around my body. Normally, that’s fine… But overnight, it builds up into one massive hunk! So what I do is I break myself free, and carve what’s left into this!” She gestured downwards to the battle dress. “Which is why I can’t exactly wear anything underneath it… As for why I do it even though… You know. Well, there’s a few reasons, but it mostly comes down to function! I’ll give your logic a passing grade! Mobility is a huge reason! By leaving the midriff bare and letting the dress billow out widely, it won’t hamper the movement of my joints! While it”s defensive ability is hampered because of it, since I can move like I want, I can usually position myself so blows land where there is armor. The second problem, is weight! There’s only so much material I can carry at a time, you know! Stone’s heavy!” She lifted two fingers as she counted off the reasons. The more she spoke, the more confident she was sounded- Explaining it always distracted her from the embarrassment! A third finger raised.
“But it’s not just the weight, it’s how it’s distributed! By having it in a wide ring and low down, it pushes my center of gravity to about… Here!” She pointed a point between her legs. “Which is huge for keeping balance! Especially when I’m using the one part of my quirk I can control…” to demonstrate, she splayed out her arms. Moments later, a grey ooze seeped out out them, rapidly hardening into a rocky shell around her arms. “Because of that, I’m able to swing these puppies around, rather than them swinging me around! Since even though they’re so heavy, most of the weight is still in the dress!” And while her fingers were no longer visible to count off of, she no longer needed them! For those were the main advantages of this style… Even if it meant her navel was visible, among a whole lot else!
As Yumi shouted to go, the battle was off! Contrary to expectations… She actually went in for some close range combat!? And her speed! With moves like that, she would even be a match for Darren-senpai! For the first but certainly not last time, the battle analyst had to reconsider her image of this unfortunate senpai- Before, she had thought highly of her impressive firepower and techniques… But with this kind of speed on top of that, she was in a new dimension! Would Darren-senpai still be able to beat her if they fought now…? No, Yumi-senpai had improved this much, but how could Darren-senpai have been sitting still? However, now was not the time for such hypotheticals. Even as she was admiring the new technique, she was in the middle of a fight!
Still caught off guard by her overactive imagination, it was no surprise that Yumi latched onto Shouko with ease- Grabbing her arm by the flesh, above where it had been covered by stone! Fortunately, as Yumi had explained, her body itself was still that of a normal human- Her grip was nothing to be afraid of! But even so, it would take a moment to break free- A moment she didn’t have, with the other hand already incoming!
She did have one hand free, but it was covered in rock from her demonstration earlier- Without time to move, or momentum on her side, she wouldn’t make it in time. It was an unfortunately common situation in her heaviest stances- And so while she really should come up with a countermeasure to being caught like this, right now wasn’t the time!
However, it was still Yumi’s mistake in challenging Shouko to close quarters combat! With a twist of her trapped arm, the line between grappler and grappled was blurred, trapping Yumi’s arm underneath her own. While she could not prevent the incoming attack, which crashed into her chest and sent shards of rock flying- She could counterattack, her free rock club swinging up from the side! Why lie the momentum caused the grappling pair to slide across the floor, Shouko’s dress was exactly as advertised- She might be pushed back, but she would never topple over! Unlike her earlier display of bashfulness, no concern was found on the girl’s face about the fact that even more of her chest was now visible- In the heat of battle, who had time to care about that!?
-Shouko is caught off guard by the speed and grabbed -Uses the grab to catch Yumi’s arm instead, in exchange for taking the blow head on. - Her dress is true to her word and keeps her upright, though a portion of her upper armor is destroyed in the clash. - Is swinging up a stone club from the ungrappled side.

“Yeah, always good to have options.” She simply replied with a bright smile, and the example she gave was true enough. Firing off an electrical blast did very little if something was resistant to a charge. If she beefed up the charge enough the heat alone might get through, but if there was a more energy efficient method to get through such a thing, it was definitely an option worth following through on.
Yumi tilted her head at the reaction to Geist being a past criminal, her eyes widened a little and she rubbed the back of her neck…either this wasn’t common knowledge or Yumi’s memory was flaring up again and tricking her. She bit her tongue on the matter for a moment but did admit- “I er…don’t have the best memory…maybe I’m confusing him with someone else…” She idly scratched her cheek. She did trust her memory more as of late but she didn’t want to taint her view of a teacher on her own faulty memory.
The more chipper topic of their costumes was an easy enough switch up to a more positive note. And Yumi easily smiled up again, even if it did feel a bit odd to have the assurance of ‘you are Yumi’, as if her state of self alone was just some sort of impressive achievement, but she wouldn’t let her paranoia and self doubts ruin anything this time.
As they turned to her own costume, Yumi nodded along, understanding how easy it might be to forget the embaressment when in the heat of battle. For Yumi herself however she latched onto the question as to what bisexual was…did..did she really not know…?
Yumi swallowed back, wanting to explain things but. “Er…tell you what, I’ll explain that after we spar. It’s erm…I wouldn’t wanna throw you off before a fight. Let’s leave it at that shall we?”
“Oh!” She latched onto the explanation of her quirk readily to avoid explaining sexuality right this moment. “So you’re constantly generating rock anyway huh? Well that’s interesting. Forming it into an outfit definitely works well as a work around of it, and yeah, I totally get the function over form thing going on here.” She smiled warmly in response, crossing her arms over her chest. “Mobility is definitely more important than sheer defense in my eyes. Pure defense is useless if you can’t hold any form of offense. All you’d be is an easily avoided wall. No offense if that idea ever came to mind though…” She genuinely didn’t want to offend anyone who did go for defense, but again, if you couldn’t move and catch an opponent…being invulnerable wasn’t such a great upside.
The way she spoke about it though was definitely interesting, considering her center of balance too. Yumi had to say it- “Well I’m impressed for sure…not everyone considers their own quirk to such an extent in ways like this…I mean, I kinda do, but I don’t have the brains to figure it all out on my own…it’s definitely impressive how you manage to…well, balance things would be the best term I guess!~”
With the battle underway back in the present, Yumi’s attack seemed to land, shattering some of the stone but the impact on the girl herself would definitely be minimal. In turn, Yumi’s grasp of her arm was used against her as she felt her arm trapped under the much stronger Shouko’s. Lugging stone like that around definitely gave a girl some muscle, and it was beyond what Yumi could manage. She tried to beef up her invisible outputs around that arm but the force of her repulsion field wouldn’t be nearly enough to free her alone.
Nah, the heavy hit from the side would definitely help though.
With the lack of weight her constant floating gave her, the strike from the side sent her flying, knocking her arm loose but forcing Yumi to take a direct blow with some definite force behind it. She let out a hefty breath as she caught herself, flipping midair till she was back on a normal playing field, strands of electricity catching her before she crashed into the floor or a wall, grinning a little as she saw some challenge out of this, even if she was holding herself back…it was always more interesting to try and see what tactics worked rather than winning through sheer power.
“Alright…now to see how you do at range!”
With sweeping throws of her arms, the electrical heroine started to fire out streams of electricity. The first aimed directly for the other girl to see how she reacted. If she tried to tank it, the other would be aimed directly for her. If she tried to dodge, the next would try to follow her motions, trying her best to just land a clean shot. Each shot however, was specifically aimed for her chest piece, or her battle dress, Yumi wanting to make sure she didn’t actually hurt her opponent during their spar, unlike say, Darren, who had a more visceral approach to such an activity.
Tldr
Yumi took the grapple and the hit, her repulsion field and the force of the strike helped her get knocked free Caught herself before she crashed from the strike Fired off blasts from a distance. Aimed to where she will be or where she is accordingly. All aimed at her armor and not her skin. (D rank output, B rank range / accuracy)

Ehhh, so it was something that would throw her off before a fight? While she was slightly confused about whether Geist-sensei was or was not a villain… At the very least, him pointing guns at a student was true, so… But compared to that, having a question put off could only bolster her curiousity about it! “Okay, after it is, then!” Shouko reiterated. It was a promise! Though whether she’d be in any state to hear the response afterwards… Welllllll, that remained to be seen? In any case, the subject was quickly changed to one much more familiar! And just as Yumi latched onto it, so did Shouko- To clear her mind of the confusion, so she wasn’t distracted by questions during their bout!
Yumi’s thoughts were roughly the same as Shouko’s own. “Yup! There’s some merits to brute strength without worrying about mobility… But even now, that’s the portion of my martial style that I use the least!” For most cases, the first two stances were the most appropriate… And the fourth made for a great follow up, as she would hopefully have a chance to show! But the third stance? It was awkward and slow, and rarely worked well against a moving target… And as her least utilized form, it was naturally the least polished- Unlike the other three, whose principles had taken root in the heat of combat. “In a tournament setting, pure defense is reasonable because your opponent can only get so far, so you can Just tank until they get tired! But in real life, if it came down to that, there’s nothing keeping them from running away!” It certainly had crossed her mind, but the plan was summarily executed. Besides, how was she going to keep up with fights, if she could hardly move!? Those camera angles wouldn’t find themselves!
To be praised by such an illustrious upperclassman would naturally bring a smile to Shouko’s face… If not for the fact that it had never left to begin with! “Ahaha, you praise me too much~ In the first place, I don’t have very much wiggle room to control my quirk in, so if I don’t think at least this much, I’d not be able to do much at all! But then, making use of what we have… Is why quirks are all so varied, and fighting styles innumerable! There is no best style! Only the best for you! Aren’t superpowered battles wonderful!?” Shouko sighed blissfully, the way only an Otaku could when talking about their favorite subject. And for Iwasaka Shouko… That topic was battles! Superpowers! And! Superpowered battles!
The second her blow landed, Shouko was aware that it was no good. Sure, it had hit! And hit hard at that, on the senpai who had already admitted she wasn’t sturdy! But! It had hit too soon! It was the forcefield she had been shown earlier… The same one that, even as she struck, sought to break the grapple she had obtained! And with the force of the blow as a catalyst, Yumi was knocked away! Certainly, she would not be unharmed… But, what mattered was, the grapple was broken! The grapple! As a ranged specialist, being caught in a melee was the worst for her! And while it was a friendly spar that she was already expected to lose… Shouko still wanted to push as far as she could, to see as much as she could see!
From here on out would be Yumi’s territory… But before that, Shouko had one more ace in her hand! Rather than stopping her blow when Yumi broke through, the brunette would follow it throw- The heavy stone’s momentum carrying her entire body into a spin. This momentum would allow her to carry her second arm forward, opening the fourth stance of her Yaogun style! By maintaining this spin, she held the momentum of her initial blow, even as she stepped forward to chase down the opponent- Giving the impression that she swung her clubs as lightly as though they weighed nothing. Thus the name of the form- “Yaogun style, fourth form! Treating the heavy as though it were light!”
There wasn’t really a point in saying it out loud, but… Wasn’t it cooler that way!? Meanwhile, Yumi had taken to her range, launching a barrage of electricity at Shouko. “Hah, let’s test! Whether my rock conducts electricity, or not!” Shouko declared in response, as she barrelled forwards. By raising her club as she whirled… She somehow managed to take the first hit! Fortunately, as expected, the clubs were nonconductive, and she did not receive a shock for her efforts… But even so, where the lightning came in contact with the stone, chunks flew off! Like, serious chunks! Like, right down to her bare skin! “Whew, even holding back… As expected of Yumi-senpai!”
Naturally, not every shot would be blocked so cleanly- The next came straight through, smashing a hole in her prided battle dress. A third struck the armor on her shoulder, threatening to take her entire top crumbling off…. It somehow barely managed to hang on. The damage certainly knocked her slightly off balance... But with the vast majority of the dress and clubs intact, Shouko was able to account for it. If this continued, however... It might be better to not have the dress on at all! Still, all the while, the stone maiden would be holding forth her momentum, moving forward toward where the sniper hovered!
- Fails to maintain the grapple - Uses momentum from swing to enhance her movements, spinning around as she chases Yumi down - Takes the first hit on a club, while another two hit her top and bottom armor respectively. Each hit deals a sizable chunk of damage to the armor. - The damage hurts Shouko’s balance, but not beyond her ability to compensate. - Continues to move forward while maintaining her clubs’ momentum by spinning, attempting to reach Yumi before her armor is completely destroyed.

(focusing on the battle from here for ease, hope that’s okay)
Yumi watched as Shouko turned her heavy clubs into an odd little movement advantage. Yumi wasn’t…ENTIRELY sure what she was looking at (which is to say Yumi the OOC writer wasn’t entirely sure she had the right end of the stick here) but the girl seemed to be utilizing some aimed centrifugal force to decrease the experienced weight of her clubs and keep herself moving at a decent pace. Yumi had to admit that was definitely clever, but it made Yumi’s own goal of trying to aim specifically for her armor a little more difficult. Even if she moved in a straight line her torso and hips were in constant motion now making them a lot harder to aim directly for, even if she’d only be off visually by a few inches.
Still, her eyes didn’t fail her easily. After so long adjusting to controlling her jagged electrical shots and the harsh light they could sometimes produce, She watched chunks of rock blast away from the girl’s main attire, briefly feeling a sensation of success, but a few shots in she registered the effect this might actually have…and really hoped she didn’t fluster Shouko too much once the adrenaline died down.
Still, the other girl was approaching little by little, but Yumi knew she was strong enough to hold her own at close quarters now. As such she had to keep the battle in her territory. Even holding back, she had to make sure to challenge the other heroine with her weaknesses. Afterall Shouko was best learning how to deal with a ranged combatant in a safe learning space like this.
“Don’t think I’m just gonna sit here and let you come to me!” She chimed out, and with a shot of sparks she darted off to the round, sharp jolting motions moving her around and around Shouko, almost fast enough that she just looked like she was forming one big blue ring around the other heroine. “Lets see…” She’d hum a little as she continued to circle her at max speed. “I’ll call this…!”
She suddenly zipped directly above Shouko high in the air above her, arms raised above her head, but the blue trail she’d been leaving still hovering in the air like a self-contained tesla coil of sorts, sparking against the ground but seeming to maintain some state of shape.
“CURVED LIGHTNING SPECIAL! Capture Ring!”
She threw her hands down, shooting a bolt of electricity directly down at Shouko, specifically one holding an opposing charge to the ring she’d created around her. The ring rapidly began to close in, shrinking in towards the cancelling charge at the center. Really it was a flawed plan. Electrical charges like this weren’t easy to predict, and eveil while Shouko had damage coming in from all sides and above, the ring around her would likely break apart as it got smaller, leaving her some good chances to escape-!
Tldr
Yumi zipped off to the side, started zipping around and around Shouko (B speed) to create a ring of electricity (Anime logic go! D rank damage) Yumi zipped above Shouko with her speed and threw down a lightning bolt from above. Attack from above + forces the ring to close in around her (still D damage) To compensate some anime logic, stated the ring is likely to break apart and leave avenues for escape.

Fortunately for Shouko’s easily embarrassed mentality, her focus on battle was enough to distract her from her own armor’s revealing nature- As well as the damage it incurred. If one was so inclined as to look closely, the hole in the dress would reveal not just white skin, but also blue fabric- A pair of compression shorts, worn for safety! No matter how much damage was done, she was safe! Well, at least until the battle ended and she realized her own appearance… But it wouldn’t come to that until later!
“I wouldn’t expect anything less!” Shouko would call back- What kind of sniper would stand still while her opponent got into range? While it would make it easier on Shouko if she would do that… What kind of opponent would make things easier for you!? And while spinning around to hold momentum meant she often faced away from Yumi- She could tell that the other girl wasn’t holding back on her speed at all! To some people, it might be depressing to be so outclassed in speed that their opponent can simply run in circles around them- But Shouko was not some people! Her face had a broad grin as she watched the redhead zip around, the sparks of electricity coalescing into a ring. “Whoa! So you could do it like that! Cool!” She praised, as her movements slowed. The momentum mitigated the effect of her weight on her speed, but… the cost of it, was it also dictated her movements! As Yumi flew above, the brunette would slow to a stop.
As much as she wanted to admire the ring, now was not the time for that! Even as she assessed the situation, Yumi attacked from above… And apparently, doing so caused the ring to contract! Way coo- No, now was not the time for admiration! As the omnidirectional attack converged, Shouko was already moving against it. As for how to escape.. Over? Under? Straight through? Well, each had their advantages… But seeing the ring lose stability as it converged, Shouko knew! It had to be! “Option C!”
She pulled to the left, her aim a gap in the ring- It wasn’t perfect, but, it was better than being struck head on! For what she couldn’t avoid, her stone clubs raised to her sides. The weapons shattered on impact- Having already taken a beating from the previous onslaught- But this was well within her calculations! She had brought out the clubs to demonstrate, but up against Yumi, they were more hindrance than help! Against a speedster like Yumi, similarly to how it had been against Darren, the slow and difficult to control weights were simply not possible to land a hit with!
Not that she was likely to land a hit as was… She was slower than Yumi, by a mile! And had no real ways to reach the other girl in the sky… It was a weakness she was all too aware of in her style! In the past, she had attempted to overcome it by breaking apart her clubs into a shotgun-like burst of shrapnel… But while that had it’s place, it wasn’t something she could use at any sort of range effectively! As such, she had been forced to give up on it… In the end, a person who could attack from a range while also able to outmaneuver her, was the worst opponent! But that was exactly why sparring with someone like that, was the best practice!
Far from giving up hope, Shouko would stabilize her stance, resting on the balls of her feet- The lightest stance in the Yaogun Style, Treating the Light as though it were Light! With her utmost speed, if Yumi were to make any mistake, she would have the best chance to capitalize on it… Although, on the other hand, without armor covering her arms, she was far more open to incoming attacks. There was no reward without risk, after all!
Breaks out of the Capture Ring, at the cost of both clubs Has no way to attack Yumi while she is flying, so settles into a light stance- So as to best react to Yumi’s next move.

Yumi was trying not to stay too far off the ground, she hated when fights remained completely one sided. Sure, as a hero she had to use every tactic she had to get the advantage over a villain, but here in school she needed to make sure things were a little fairer. It was better to practice and train in situations with risk and reward involved, rather than just playing solely to your strengths, You developed bad habits and relied on your crutches afterall, so here against her under-classmen, she needed to make sure that her taking the offensive was always an option for both their sakes.
Still, as she watched the underclassmen react to her attacks, Yumi chuckled just slightly. “Yeah, I’ll admit it’s not an entirely scientific reaction but…when were quirks ever bound entirely by the laws of physics huh!?~” She cheekily smirked and grinned, just trying to be playful as she watched the girl try and work her way out of this one. In truth Yumi’s quirk did probably push the plausible boundaries from time to time. Never impossibly so, but the ‘bio’ aspect of her electricity seemed to bring some unique traits to it, tho only to the benefit of allowing her to use electricity to a more effective level than just watching it fizzle towards the nearest surface.
Her underclassmen for now seemed to focus on getting out of danger, charging out of the electrical ring and sacrificing her clubs in the process. She didn’t instantly re-generate them, which said she was either losing the weight on purpose, or just utilizing the fact she’d lost it now that it had happened, OR her stone generation wasn’t the most practical ‘at the ready’ type of quirk. She’d tuck that away just incase she needed it, but for a friendly spar like this she didn’t need to play every advantage.
“Keeping me-er…yerself on your toes huh?” She lightly joked, hoping to keep things light. Yumi was watching her lighten herself…and she thought back to something Darren made her consider. Most of her attacks tended to be in a straight line, which made them so easy for Darren to dodge. The circle she’d just made was an example of the opposite, but she tended to only feel confident with that when her opponent was slower than her. A luxury Darren didn’t provide…maybe she could use Shouko to help her build some confidence in some unusual tactics.
“Let’s see if this works then…”
Trying to think of a way to widen her offensive range, Yumi slowly started to spin…or rather, the tendrils of electricity connecting her to the floor seemed to be spinning her. Her speed built rather quickly, not quite a blur but certainly spinning faster than any normal person could spin about on their own heels. She extended a leg, flowing electricity across the lim, the neon steams across the outside of her suit burning up as she channelled her quick through them, and rather than shooting a usual, direct stream, Yumi fired off a crescent moon shape of electricity as her spinning came to a sharp hold, the swathe of electricity flowing towards her Underclassman, tiny sparks connecting it to the ground as it came lower and lower towards her.

As much faster and lighter as she was with her clubs taken away, Shouko knew that Yumi was faster still- The gap between years was as significant as expected! But not once did she stop looking, hunting out a gap in that unmatchable speed. But even if she lost before she found it, she could consider herself a winner! How many chances did one get to not only witness, but experience the full power of one of the school's strongest upperclassmen? That's right, Shouko had never once considered using this as an opportunity to improve herself! And her honed observational skills led to some rewards- Yumi was flying, yes, but not so high as to be out of reach! Shouko knew that the red-head could go much higher than that, whether it was her earlier demonstration, or the sports festival... Thus, it could only be a manner of consideration towards the landlocked rock!
Of course, that was not an opportunity in and of itself. If she caught up she could reach, the problem was the catching up in and of itself! Shouko was faster than the average person, but in front of someone even faster... Heck, even if Yumi was pretty high up, Shouko had confidence in her ability to find a way up there! But rather than be disheartened by this gap, Shouko only let the grin on her face widen. Truly, quirks were marvelous! Flight, speed, power, range... By all points of view, Yumi was an invincible powerhouse! But that was what made watching her so fun! And besides which, to call her invincible... Had she not lost in the sports festival's first round? Even gods could bleed!
"Don't I know it!" The brunette would call back. "I've never once questioned where all the stone for my quirk comes from!" Something about carbon dioxide reacting with waste products in the body... Bah! Where was the romance in digging too deeply? "Physics are all fine and good when you want to know if something is possible... But once you know you can do it, who cares if it's logical? Will denying the physics behind it make it stop working?" Rather than worry about the how or the why... Shouko was far more interested in the what! And this electric ring was a perfect example of the creative things one could do when they didn't think too much about whether or not they could!
Which was why, she decided to stop thinking about if she could catch up, and instead assume that she could! A theory which worked perfectly in tandem with Yumi's next onslaught- A whirling spin. "Heh, trying to spin against me? I'll tell you, I was the middle school BaeBlade Queen!" Shouko declared. While mostly nonsense, it was true that her momentum-carrying movements often required a lot of spinning... Whether it was the twirl she attacked with just before, or the impromptu Shoukopter™ which failed so miserably... Many of her movements relied on rotation! Which was why, as compared to anyone else... She was qualified to recognize such a technique's advantages and disadvantages!
The obvious was, of course, the dizziness. Even with her rotations nowhere near so profound, it had taken Shouko a long time to master the art of retaining balance when spinning. But that was not her goal this time! No, this time, her counterattack came from... The three hundred and sixty degree field of vision of the spin! Around and round the wheels on the bus go... But if Yumi appears a blur to Shouko, how must the world look to the one spinning? Even if she managed to maintain focus on Shouko- A trick Shouko was well familiar with the possibility of- the human field of view was no more than 120 degrees! As such, for each glimpse of Shouko the redhead got, there would be two moments where she was completely outside of it!
Without her clubs, the brunette's approach was notably faster than with them- But not by so much as to raise a fuss. Electricity rose, crackling along the outside of the spinning blur. But rather than that, what caused Shouko's brow to furrow in concentration... Was the blur! Onetwothreeonetwothreeonetwothree... A count far faster than Shouko's racing heartbeat surged through the girl's mind, gradually synchronizing with the rapidly spinning Yumi. And once that count matched, once all was in order... Once the stream of electricity began to fire...
From the upperclassman's point of view, it would be as though Shouko had disappeared. Not for long. A heartbeat. Perhaps less. But it was the timing that was exquisite- The bolt firing into empty space, finding no victim. A masterpiece in timing, that two-thirds gap that heralded less than an instant, Shouko had made her move, suddenly diverting her direction- And thus, losing any lock on that had held her position. And that was her chance! With a simple dart forward, and hand raised, aiming for but a simple fist strike at the center of that spinning foe.
TL;DR Shouko abuses the fact that spinning innately creates a blind spot to dodge. Closes in for a counterattack.

Yumi’s self criticism rang solidly in her head. Too predictable. Too much flair.
She didn’t really NEED to spin to pull off what she just did, she did it to get the sweeping crescent effect of the stream of electricity she’d just let out. She could have darted from left to right quickly but…the spin just felt…right? Ugh, that was a dumb argument for it but it was true. Yumi liked that image of a hero with special, flair filled moves, confident enough to pull them off against the average goon because they looked cool and inspired the people watching. Thing was, in a school full of aspiring heroes…
People found the weakpoints in such moves.
As far as Yumi could really recognize as her spin came to a sharp halt, her brain feeling like it was still spinning a little inside her skull, not helping her spot her missing target. The huge swath of electrical energy she’d made crashing and fizzling harshly against the opposing wall, Yumi’s already somewhat poor vision from years of light damage from her own quirk ruined further by her dizzy state…and allowing her opponent quite the opening.
Eyes locking onto her at just the last moment as she leapt up to break the distance between them and get in a strike, Yumi’s eyes shot open wide. A stream of energy shot out from her back towards the opposing wall. Similar to what Shouko had seen when she was using her ‘dart motion’, but a little thicker in her panic. For Yumi the instant flowed in slow motion. Shouko’s fist closing in, that thick stream behind her surging through the air where she’d be dragged along behind it. Sadly for her she’d been caught so off guard that Shouko’s fist won out, and in a complete mistake of timing and happenstance, the impact of Shouko’s fist in her torso was accompanied by the dragging of her electrical motion skill, the force through her front emphasized by the dragging in her back, and before Yumi knew it she was rapidly dragged into one hell of a crash and tumble, skimming twice off the ground, the blows softened somewhat by her magnetic field, but ultimately it was one hell of a mess, as Shouko’s force was coupled with the exit speed of Yumi’s own quirk.
As she came to a stop, managing to spin as she crashed and landing somewhat upright, with one hell of a friction burn on her elbows through her costume. Yumi grit her teeth through that pain, still somewhat of a glass cannon when the pain managed to push through her field or hit her in the first place…but as she looked to Shouko, likely catching their own footing from landing after their attack…Yumi’s quirk and her light grimace slowly faded, her hair falling down again as the charge left it, turning a deep red once more as her skin returned to a gentle peach, and Yumi herself just slowly falling into a brief series of giggles at herself.
“You’re a lot quicker on your feet than you look! Hahaha!~”
Yumi had a brief little giggle there on the floor before picking herself up, hissing a little as her raw skin rubbed against the inside of her costume. She’d certainly felt worse, but pain was pain at the end of the day. A quick dusting off and she’d meet Shouko’s eyes with a smile. “You want me to charge up and go again or…you think you can go away happy saying you got a fair hit on me?~”
tldr
Yumi took the hit, but as she tried to dart away at the same time, she basically caused herself to have a B rank speed crash against the floor. Laughed it off, asked if Shouko was good or wanted to keep going.

Of course, it wasn't going to be that easy to lock down a top upperclassman~ In the very instant Shouko made her approach, she saw... No, felt would be more appropriate for it. She felt the gaze within that blur locking onto her, losing the advantage of the blind spot. But even so, she continued forward, her movements not dulled in the slightest! Even if she had fallen out of the blind spot... Such a thing was to be expected! "Too laaaaaate!" She cried aloud, as her small fist raced against Yumi's arcs of electricity... Even as the repulsive force moved the redhead away, a solid connection was formed, knuckle to flesh.
In the end, Shouko's blow coupled with Yumi's reflexive dodge, sending her crashing. The brunette's eyes widened as the upperclassman rolled across the floor, tumbling and scraping away... She hadn't hit her hard enough for that! Was this the legendary, 'overplaying the attack" used to give a junior confidence? Ehh, but even if it was, selling it so hard would only make it unrealistic, Yumi-senpai! Which was why Shouko quickly came to the opposite conclusion- Based on the arc from Yumi's back, she had beeen... Carry the two... Ah, now wasn't the time for that! If she had her camera, she could have gone over the numbers later... But in short, it was just a matter of timing! Her evasive maneuver disrupted mid-spin, it was only natural for Yumi to get sent in the wrong direction...
Meanwhile, Shouko was standing in place, fist still outstretched from where she had struck. Was that steam rising from her knuckles, or was that merely an illusion? In any case, as Yumi managed to catch herself and land on her feet, her opponent would resurrect her fighting stance with a cheeky grin. "En!" She would exclaim in agreement. Speed was her forte! "It's that, you know! Gap Moe!" Evidently, she is proud of her work. After all, who expects a rock to be light on her toes? That said, someone really should explain to her what gap moe actually means...
"Ah, Yumi-senpai, are you okay?" As Yumi hisses in pain, the observant Shouko would be a shame on her name to miss it. As someone who has taken her fair share of tumbles... Eto, hmm. Wellll, there is one thing I'd like to tryyyyy..." The girl says, but by her tone, it's already obvious what her answer is. "But! Let's save that one for next time, Yumi-senpai! If I keep pushing things until I need to see Nimue-sensei, she'll stop treating me, you know! Besides, I've gotta save at least one trump card!"
In any case, she can now say she got a clean hit on both Yumi-senpai and Darren-senpai~ And she got to see a lot of cool uses of Yumi-senpai's quirk to boot! Super cool! As for the other reason... Well, the chips of rock which even now flaked off of her armor was a perfectly good reason. The longer this went on, the more dangerous it was! In a variety of senses!
Her combat stance dropping, Shouko let out a heartfelt laugh. "Ahh, that was fun! Thanks, Yumi-senpai! I got to see a lot of good stuff today!" Just the flight alone was worth sneaking in, let alone the rest of the match! But that aside... She quickly gathered up her tunic and sash, wrapping herself once more. At least, before the excitement died down and the embarrassment set in!
"Eto... As expected, flight's not easy to deal with! Without being able to attack from range, it'll take some creativity to deal with, hmm. Well, I already knew that! I wonder if the sports festival will have a barrier around the battlefield again this year, that would restrain them and thus..." Shouko began musing on how she could adapt what she had learned into a more realistic fight- Like the upcoming sports festival! "Of course, attacking from a range is another option... Of course, I tried that, and it wasn't so good..." Shouko muttered, but it seemed like she was already coming up with her own answers.
However, notably, her emphasis was on herself- In comparison to her proclamation of wanting to watch how others fight, the girl's actions showed more interest in polishing herself! Perhaps she hadn't even made that realization herself, but to an outsider it was far more evident. But in her own mind... Aside from the awkwardness of trying to tell an upperclassman how they fought- Which was a lot easier when recording a video than it was face to face- She didn't think there was much new to discuss? Speaking of discussing, it felt like she was forgetting something...

“Gap…moe?” She’d question. She’d probably heard the term before given how much of an anime nerd she could be but for a moment it didn’t quite register, idly scratching her cheek before it finally clicked, snapping her fingers across her front as it registered. “Oh! Yeah! That er, thing where your skills don’t lign up with your visuals. But I mean…” She rested her hands on her hips, tipping to one side with an idle smirk. “I’d say without all the stone bits you’d definitely look like a wry and sly little cookie. Not all that surprising when you forget that quirk weighing you down!~”
Yumi’s constant grin showed she’d definitely had a good time, and at that, was definitely impressed to. Chuckling idly as she dusted herself off and made sue to discharge any excess static so she could shake Shouko’s hand without an issue or anything as she turned off her quirk, cutting the distance between them with a gentle walk as she checked herself over.
“I’m okay, nothing to worry about. I just tried to dart away as you hit me and it kinda backfired.” She’d gesture idly with her hands to try and explain what happened, one hand representing the girl hitting her, the other herself skimming miles away. “The force of your punch combined with the charge I shot out dragging me away? Not a great combo for me…but don’t worry. I’m fine.” She’d rest her hands against her hips, chuckling a little at herself even if she still had a few stinging friction burns under her costume. As her hair fell with the loss of her quirk’s influence, a few loose strands from her ponytail showed she’d certainly been pushed a little in their bout.
Yumi would watch from a soft distance as Shouko re-dressed herself and started muttering to herself about her battle tactics going forward, a gentle chuckle leaving Yumi as she’d step across, rounding behind the girl in a way that meant they were both now aimed towards the training room’s exit, before leaning down to her ear with a light smirk. “Hey er…hun? You wanna maybe go grab some food and you can mutter you’re plans into that rather than taking up the training room?” She’d offer the girl beside her a warm smile and a light chuckle again, not wanting to tease her but honestly finding her one track mind kinda adorable too.
(sorry, wasn’t sure what shouko was forgetting either cause my memories not the strongest XD will poke you on discord too but DM me if its something Yumi should remember for her)

The brunette returned a big ol' grin. "Ehehe, exactly, Yumi-senpai! Everyone sees my quirk as the rocky armor, so they expect a tank! But I'm actually a hyper-mobile melee DPS!" The girl threw out some game terminology. "Forget Randuin's Omen, this girl builds Phantom Dancer!" Flashing a v for victory, Shouko smiled. Yay, someone who understood her! Well, that was only natural, as both of them had misunderstood the concept of gap moe in the same way. After all, in it's true sense, gap moe isn't about the gap between personality and impression... But the gap created when a usually cold character does something cute! And as anyone can attest, Shouko is anything but tsundere.
"En! Thanks for noticing, Yumi-senpai!" Shouko beamed at the compliment. the body was the basis of all martial arts, and Shouko was quite proud of hers! "That's exactly right! The armor protects me a lot, but it also weighs me down. It's all in the balance! By knowing when I need defense, and when I need speed, I can get the most out of everything I have!" Of course, there was much to be said for focusing on a single aspect. "And the weight has it's uses, too! Have you ever watched Dragon Cube? or Naruto? It's like that! Just wearing it is it's own form of training! I'm not like you guys who can train your quirks specifically, so I have to rely on this human body of mine!" Of course, that left the question of how far she could go before reaching the limits of that body. But it wasn't a question the ever cheerful Shouko would dwell on overly much!
As for Yumi's injuries... "Ah, I thought that was the case! Ouch!" It didn't make sense for her strength to have sent Yumi flying so far. "Fortunately, that kind of road burn... Just slap some spit on it and it'll be fine!" Shouko declared from personal experience. But wait, wasn't that the stereotypical declaration of an eight year old boy...? In any case, it was her solution to any injury that was minor enough to not trouble Nimue-sensei with! As for the actually efficacy of this home remedy... Yeah, don't try this at home!
As Shouko mentally went over the battle in her head, playing back what she could remember without the aid of a video tape, she was caught off guard by a warm breath brushing over her ear. "Hya!" She eeped, jumping back ever so slightly. "Ah! Sorry!" She then had to apologize for having stepped into the other. "I was just lost in thought! you surprised me!" She hastily explained, and perhaps unnecessarily. "Eh, food? With Yumi-senpai? That sounds gre-" The girl's stomach interrupted, grumbling rather loudly. at... Hey! You're supposed to do that when I'm in the middle of refusing, not when I'm accepting!" The girl grumbled at her own body, embarrassed. Come on, didn't her stomach even know this much basic sense?
