Eli walked through the halls of UA high, a pair of black bulky headphones covering his right ear. Behind the ear on the left side sat the other speaker. Blaring from the headphones was Cherub Rock by The Smashing Pumpkins. The hallway was fairly empty after all, so why should he contain his music to his ears at that point! Class had been over for the day for around thirty minutes, so he was on his way to the footba- the sports club. After all, it was his first day going to the club and hopefully he would become a member! Outfitted in his UA sports attire, he headed for the football field!
He arrived to see no one present yet. Was he early? Late? Or did something come up and he didn't notice a message Kirk sent. The blonde frantically pulled out his phone and checked. Nope, no new messages. Maybe he was just early, regardless he went to a nearby bench and sat down before messaging the loudmouth, Eli: Aye I'm here to be recruited to your club. You gonna be here soon? He pressed send then continued to wonder where everyone was. Maybe they were all out doing a run or something..."Oh god please don't make me run again Darren already killed me this morning!" He mumbled to himself, already starting to regret his decision.

Yumi had been meaning to join some of the more active clubs for a while now after the football match she'd had with Darren and Kirk and the others. She wasn't sure she'd be any good, and she was happy with the work she put into herself on her own schedule, but she thought it might be a good chance to improve her physical capabilities further so she wasn't entirely done for when she lost the charge of her quirk. Humming a soft tune to herself, with no invitation to do so, she just recalled hearing once that the sports club met in '---' classroom about a half hour after class on '---' day. So, she could just hop over and see if they'd take her in.
Pulling up to the classroom they used to change or whatever the case was, Yumi hooked her fingers around the doorframe and peeked her head left and right, just spotting Eli who...she was pretty certain didn't actually hold a place in the sports club as much as she associated him with Kirk and Darren, especially Darren. She'd tip her chin up, and speak loud enough to hopefully catch his attention despite the headphones. "Hey! Eli! This the sports club?"

Today, was one of those days which had a lot of elements Kirk had expected to happen eventually! Firstly, the fact that more people were going to join his club. Of course, this was the most obvious thing, his club had been doing REALLY well lately, and he couldn't feel prouder about it. The other elements were the ones joining! There was Eli, who despite not talking with much in class, was very much a friend of Darrens as well, so it was only a matter of time before he would come join in the glorious bro activities! Although, he had continuously kept calling it "soccer club", which annoyed him a little bit... They had played football competitively once! that didn't mean the club was based around it! The other one who was going to be joining, was Yumi. One of the girls who had joined to fill up the roster in said football game... That and she was pretty much a walking battery literally and figuratively, full of energy and spunk, the latter sometimes making Kirk feel a bit awkward near her.
However, the biggest and most distracting thing of all, was a minor fact for some, but for Kirk pretty sizeable honor: They were the class president, and the classes vice-president! Both were joining his club! Honestly, it felt like yet another prize for doing well at the festival, like a pile of prestige! a little bit of hype to make him excited! But on the other hand... he had to also show how fun the club would be so they wouldn't regret their decision! So of course, he was planning things out a little, what items to bring, perhaps reserved a pool spot just in case they wanted to go there, even made sure the balls were polished, and Kirk of all people knew how pointless it was to polish sports balls!
But in the end, even after all that planning... he ended up being late to his own little meeting! How could he expect, that his grandpa needed a check-up on this day!? It was a problem of his grandpa not liking them either... so as soon as he got out of it, carried his grandpa back home, he proceeded to rush over back to the school, and ran over to the sports field! There was a small building there, which was pretty much half a normal class size. Mostly he used it to store equipment, and if he really needed it, used it as a place to explain tactics to the club members. So, what better place to explain how things went to newcomers?
Well... as he was rushing he was shouting "I'm coming! I'm coming!" But, in his rush, he didn't see Yumi standing at the door, maybe outright bumping into her if she didn't dodge! "I'm comAUGH!" He would stumble on inside anyway, falling on his face, on the floor, quickly pushing himself back up, Patting his classic shirt. "SORRY, sorry! Sorry for being late too!" He quickly turned his head, and counted heads... yup, both were here before him. "Had to take grandpa to hospital... He is fine though! To my knowledge anyway!" He seemingly tried to just push his lateness under the rug, as he offered a hand in both of their direction, probably helping Yumi up at the same time if she wasn't up already. "Welcome, to the sports club!"
He scratched his head, as he walked over to the table, and slapped his hands on top of it. "Now, I think you guys already know how clubs work... Sports clubs pretty much the same thing, except we pretty much have open doors for any training areas, and the soccer field is up for us to use for whatever we want after school hours! Although, for bigger events, they might be taken to be used by the teachers!" A quick explanation. "We don't really have any "main sport" we do..." He made quotation marks out of his fingers, as he glared towards Eli a bit judgementally. "But we do actually compete every once in a while, as long as there is interest behind it! Just like that soccer match Yumi was in!" He quickly pointed at Her.
"And with that... I know that both of you know how to play soccer at least! And besides, with heroic physique, you guys are plenty capable for the club, no questions about that, you know!" Yumi was INSANELY quick, and Eli was kind of like Tetsuko with his diamond blades, and those couldn't be too different from a baseball bat to swing. "Although, of course... It's always up to the club members to choose what they want to do for the next day! Gonna make an exception for you guys in that regard!" With that he stood up a bit higher, and opened his hand in the duos direction. "What do you guys wanna do?!" He was really trying to sell the club to the duo as well as he could. He was really excited.

Yumi was here too? What a surprise, "Hey Yu-" He stopped for a second, realizing his headphones were still over his ears, he brought them down to where they were slung around his neck instead. "Sorry, hey redhead, you here to join too?" Regardless, at least the boy had company now. He heard yelling and instantly assumed it was Kirk, in a rush as usual. The boy stumbled over and fell on his face as he reached the room. Eli let out a small chuckle as the boy picked himself up. He quickly gave an explanation as to why he was late, and Eli gave him a nod, "Its no biggie, happens to all of us man." He said as he shook the sportsy kids hand. Kirk welcomed both of them to the club, so Yumi was joining. Thank god it wasn't just him, Kirk proceeded to giving a long explanation of sorts on the club itself, but not another 'This is how all clubs work' speech.
He started by saying that the training areas are pretty much always open to them, soc- football field included! Of course he still judged Eli for calling the club football club, it was like maybe three times! And he had apologized! Kirk mentioned Yumi being in a football match, interesting that she hadn't joined the club until now yet she had already participated in an event. Kirk stated that he knew they both knew how to play football but...how did he know Eli could? He would've asked but he didn't wanna spark the 'This isn't just football club' debate again. So instead he thought about other sports, mostly ones that were popular in America. He had never played Tennis, Baseball, or Basketball. Basketball he was a bit too short but the other two seemed like good options!
Which would Eli rather do though...Baseball did seem more popular and fun, while Tennis was kind of just hitting a ball back and forth. He decided Baseball was more interactive, and wanted to do that! "There any Baseball equipment stuff? I'm good for that if Yumi doesn't have any other suggestions. I would've gone with Tennis too but it just seems less interactive and stuff. Plus Darrens ball throwing machine throws Tennis balls, don't need more nightmares." The blonde joked, seriously though Darren was insane when he used that thing! Regardless, Eli shot Kirk a reassuring smile. He was really selling the club! Eli was excited to join at least, but maybe that was just because so many of his friends already had.

Yumi smiled warmly at Eli, opening her mouth to speak when she too caught the yelling coming down the hall. Having been leaning on the doorframe as she’d been relaxing and ready to speak, she let out a yelp as she caught kirk way too fucking close out of the corner of her eye when she turned her head, and before she knew it she was on the floor under him, probably action as a cushion for his fall. She herself however had the ‘pleasure’ of her chest hitting the floor first, bringing her face down at an angle that really focused on her chin first, biting her bottom lip and quickly rolling onto her back, holding her chin and trying not to whine. Yeah kirk. Run into the most frail second year you know! Which…probably wasn’t far from the truth. As much as Yumi had been training, her method of enduring attacks came from her quirk. Without it active she was as frail as the average person on the street.
“Owowowow!” She whimpered as she tried to power through the initial spike of pain. When it was more dull and throbbing she lifted a hand from her chin, glad to see she wasn’t bleeding…but she might still take a trip to Nimue later just to make sure it didn’t bruise. She reached her hand out as Kirk offered his and pulled herself up with ease using his tight frame as a counterweight, finding her own two feet with relative ease and dusting herself up, though even as she listened to Kirk explain the club, she’d idly be rubbing her chin here and there. She wasn’t the type to hold a grudge or be spiteful, but BOY did that hurt…!
Still, when he mentioned soccer, Yumi couldn’t help but chuckle just a little as she tried to lighten her own mood. “Oh I barely know how to play honestly. Like, I’m not even kidding, most of what I was doing out there Darren just told me to in advance. I had no clue what the rules were beyond ‘ball goes in net’, and even then I’m half sure I probably broke a rule or two without realizing.” She laughed about it though, Darren had just grabbed her, desperate for another player, so it was all a bit of a laugh in retrospect.
As it came to suggesting games they could play, Yumi glanced to Eli as he offered Tennis. Yumi had always been a fan of a semi-obscure sport…she thinks it was called ‘lacrosse’ but she really wasn’t confident enough in her memory. Bottom line though she really enjoyed playing it at her old school the few times it had been used for PE lessons, but she supposed Tennis was the better option now anyway. “I’m down for a game of tennis if we need some sorta, intro sport or something.~ Probably best to play a game that needs fewer players…oh!” She raised a hand to ask her question. “Does the club allow quirks?”

Yeaah, looking at the result of the crash, Kirk could already feel like he had screwed up proper, with Yumi rolling on the floor in agony, and Eli looking at him with a chuckle. "Y-You don't need no ice or nothing, right?! I can get ya some if you need!" It was an overall embarrassing situation, and a clunky start to the whole thing. However, Eli was assuring him that it happens... Although somebody banging their jaw on the floor wasn't exactly a good feeling in anyway possible. Luckily, his explanation for the club atleast seemed to be a little bit more well received than his overt introduction... luckily they knew him already, or else this would have been even more awkward!
With Soccer being mentioned, Yumi admitted, that she didn't even know how to play it properly. "Well, in that regard, you can sort of expect similar sort of action here! Since you know, Not everybody knows how all sports work!" Even in Kirks case, he knew how to use most of the tools involved, but some of the rules went way over his head. but he was still able to keep up with the others whenever it mattered in most cases. That and the fact that most of the people in the club were soccer players AND his friends meant that he had the best influencers possible. "In the end, it's about getting a good workout while playing with your pals! And hey, no better training than something exhilarating and energizing! Am I right?!" He flexed proudly!
However, when it came time for them to suggest sports, there was clearly a glimmer of excitement and pride in Kirks eyes, as Eli suggested baseball of all things! One of those sports that just wasn't very popular in the club AND his favourite sport! That and Tennis. Kirk was alright with tennis. "Good suggestions, dude! What about you, Yumi?" And with her answer, it seems like Tennis was chosen. "Yeah, its also one of those where I can explain things to you guys on the sidelines so..." It was a good introduction sport, and a good reasoning for it, but it took a bit of hiding the fact that he would have really liked to play baseball for once... "Doesn't take too much either!" But in the end, he enjoyed Tennis too. So why not?
Then came one of the questions he had sorta been expecting and dreading. The quirk usage. "Well uh... SOMEtimes?" The quickest answer he could give. "I mean uh, Usually we don't use our quirks here, because some of them give a bit of an unfair advantage, you know! Some kind of super speed makes it very hard to take the ball from ya, and it's really spooky to hop in front of a cannonball of a kick!" One of those things that were a bit harder for him to avoid, since he was a mutant. "But hey, maybe once you guys have the basics down! Or if you need the extra protection?" The latter sentence included the bit awkward scratch of his head again. Maybe not the best thing to bring up...
"A-Anyways, like I said it's really easy to set-up outside!" With that, he proceeded to grab the net from the room, a decently sized pile of cones, and offered the duo a pair of rackets. "What we need, is the cones placed so they form a moderately big rectangle, and the net of course through the middle, and that's about it of course!" He assumed the duo knew it already, but hey, being thorough is good sometimes. With that, he would run outside, and put up the net, watching if the duo was doing it right.

Kirk was understandably embarrassed over falling on top of Yumi, but yet he continued to be helpful. It was almost like he was just trying to make sure they joined the club or something? If Eli wasn't sure he would join the club, he wouldn't have come. Kirk didn't know that though, so of course he continued telling the two exactly what they wanted to hear. His comment of getting a good workout cracked Eli up a bit, he couldn't help but reply, "So you're saying it'll get me out of being hit by a tennis ball cannon controlled by my roommate? I'm sold already!" That cannon was the worst toy anyone could give Darren. Like seriously who thought giving the schools biggest delinquent a tennis ball cannon was a good idea!?
At Yumi's suggestion that tennis was better Eli was a little sad, he really wanted to play baseball! But she did have a point, Baseball required a lot more than three people. They would need at least nine just to play a decent game. Tennis only needed two though, so it was unfortunately the better option. "Dang I was really wanting to play baseball too, but we really don't have enough people for it so I guess tennis will have to do." He joked, and then Yumi brought up something that had been on his mind a little bit.
Does the club allow quirks. Kirk's answer didn't make Eli any less confused. Sometimes? When was it okay to- Protection? Why would they need protection? Before he could ask, Kirk started moving on, explaining how to set up tennis and handing Eli a racket to play. Of course the blonde grabbed the equipment he was offered before bringing the protection thing up, "So what was that about protection? Why would we need protection?" He questioned as he opened the door, prepared to walk outside with his classmates and set up to play tennis.

(so sorry for the wait guys, don’t be afraid to poke me if a thread slips my mind)
Yumi didn’t mind the idea that they wouldn’t be using their quirks, afterall she fully agreed, it could give some unfair advantages especially with Darren involved. She didn’t get what Kirk meant, if he meant they’d need protection FROM quirks, or to use quirks to provide themselves with protection, like how tetsuko could make armor, but she shrugged a little and helped Kirk grab the supplies for a tennis game, glancing over to Eli.
“Oh don’t worry I’m sure we can get some baseball in once we have the whole club meeting up. Shouldn’t be too bad right?“ She stuck out her tongue with a playful expression and shifted her hands under the supplies she was carrying, ready to set out the cones when Eli seemed like he was eager to ask another question or two before they got to it, tilting her head. Did he really wanna play with quirks? She supposed it was only natural, these things were normal parts of all of them, even if Yumi was still sure it’d be totally one sided for Darren’s team. he just had that powerset

Kirk gave a pretty potent nod in Elis direction. "Eeyup! Here I would propably be doing the pitching!" He gave a wide smile. It was certainly much more effective training, if you were ever into the sport! That and hearing the boy actually be into the idea of playing baseball did make him feel better, as well as Yumi pretty much saying, that they just needed the whole club to be around to play some sometime. "Yeah, at some point, hopefully! You guys are one more step towards that 'Dream team'!" He winked and gave a thumbs up.
As they built their 'arena', Eli proceeded to ask what Kirk meant by needing protection. "A ball to the face hurts." Was Kirks simplest of answers. "Admittedly, since this is tennis, I doubt you guys are gonna be exactly beating each other up or anything, buuut... When Quirks come into play, the protection will be almost a must." He thought a bit and shrugged. "That or when you are playing against me quirklessly..." He had a bad tendency to not really hold back if he really got into the game.
However, with everything done, Kirk clapped his hands together. "Alright! Since you both propably know what Tennis is...!" He gave a brief glance at both of them to make sure he was right in the assumption. "I am just gonna point out the more special things! If yumi for example hits the ball over the line of cones, without it hitting the ground first and without Eli interrupting it, he gets a point. However, if you do interrupt it, the game continues as normal." He raised his finger up. "I'll just serve as the judge on that for now! othervise, its pretty simple: you hit the ball past your opponent, and you get a point!"
He threw the ball over towards Eli. "In case of serving, you can either do it from under..." He made hand motions, seemingly holding an invisible ball, dropping, it and swinging the racket from below. "Or over, like most folks do it!" Now he threw the invisible ball in the air, whilst swinging hard over his shoulder! "Whichever works for ya! After that, hitting the ball is pretty much how you feel the best to do it!" Kirk swung his arm suddenly towards Yumi. "Be prepared! You'll be doing it, if the ball goes past ya too!"
However, then he clapped his hands together again. "If you guys are ready, BEGIN!"
(Since its now started, and I think it worked pretty well last time I did tennis, I recommend posting about three swings worth of time, with the other side being able to react to them in their own post, and then proceeding with their own three swings. Of course, if you wanna do it differently, it's up to you guys.)
