sometimes you want to go WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
They were really getting down to the last of them now! Group 2’s performances had been flying by, and it had come down to the last lot. Naturally, Delta planned for the biggest and most bombastic performance to finish things off, but before then she’d be introducing one of the more creative sign-ons for the night. A young woman who intended quite the intriguing mix, a girl who seemed to an artist through and through - exactly the kind of person this night was meant to shine a light on. For one of the last times of the night, Delta took the stage, to introduce the prime poet. ”Ladies and gentlemen… You must be getting tired of the spiel, so lets not give any delay, shall we?” Delta would declare as she grabbed the mic, a devilish and confident look in her eyes. As the night had gone on, her worry had faded, and now all she could see was just how damn good this had been. Delta was feeling in the zone, and ready to bring it home. Farrah would have to bring it home too! ”Our next performance, here to deliver rhymes and rhythm, is sure to impress! A poet who can show it, Farrah di Prima!”
Dear performer, this act is now in your hands!- The performer will post after this introductory post, to begin their performance - From there, they will give a window for spectators to post (i.e. 48 hours) after which the performer is expected to post again! - This repeats until the performance is done! - Dear performers, please, choose a posting window that suits your own posting habits - aim to complete this performance in ~2 weeks, 3 max. - And most importantly... Have fun!0000 WORDS |

Post by Farrah di Prima on May 22, 2019 22:53:05 GMT -4
Up to this point, Farrah had been treated to a smorgasbord of jazz performances, a DJ, a rock band, and even a truly interesting performance that she wanted to describe as some blend of improv and backyard wrestling. Her spirits were high, although they always were. As the second to last performance, however, she knew that a lot was on her shoulders. After so many acts, regardless of the exceptional quality, the crowd was bound to be restless; she'd seen a few walk out already and doubtless others were watching their watches. Rarely would Farrah be called the type to let stage fright get the best of her, nor really the type to be tactful enough to read an audience. Still, the poetess recognized the need to bring her A game and top-shelf rhymes in order to hold the audience's interest.
For those unacquainted with Farrah (even after she'd been dancing around and snapping through performances earlier in the night), the spectacle of her behavior alone might be enough of a show. As she finally took the stage, clad in her black hero's uniform coat and beret, with matching, jet-black shades, she crossed one arm beneath her breasts and held the other at the frame of her eyewear, giving it a little tip that caused the low lights of the bar to flash off the glass. It might occur to the audience, maybe just now for the first time, that it really didn't make sense for her to be wearing sunglasses indoor like this. She made her way to the microphone, pulled up the high-legged stool with her free hand, then revealed a set of light-weight, lap-sized bongo drums, designed to sit between the legs as she perched. Her instrument was a bit modest compared to the ensembles she'd seen thus far, but then, her quirk gave her a built-in advantage of projection that not a lot of others had.
All the same, she'd need to use a microphone. Brevity really would prove the soul of poetry if she tried to use only her bubbles, seeing as she could only contain so many words within them. "Good evening, ladies and men! You've had my intro, but let's do it again! It's Farrah di Prima, the snappy rapper, and I'm here to give ya'll a real finger-snapper," the student introduced herself. It was not lost upon her what an opportunity she had here, with a crowd this size for the first time in her life. The feeling of pride caused her chest to swell and her wide smile to grow even broader. "I'm feelin' hyped, and I play what I feel. So settle in and dig this quick-paced peal!"
Perhaps prepared to reveal just how much caffeine she'd loaded herself up with to this point, Farrah gave her drums a few tentative pats, then really dove into them; her bare palms smacked up and down with good speed and relatively unpredictable rhythm.
Once she got to a breaking point in her track, she smacked the drums hard, then placed one hand in her lap and held the other above her head, thumb and fore-finger clenched. She began to snap rhythmically, then set down a bar of fresh rhyme.
"It's late-o-clock, and my lips ain't touched a drop Yet I'm drunk on inspiration, gorged full to pop! Rhyme burns in hot streams, and the words flow betwixt It all pours out like steam, ignited by my lips!
I like the energy tonight, from all of you, it surges! And from it, a new and powerful rhyme emerges! Like a kid in a candy store who can't pick what to eat, I am torn between rhythms! In my head, they compete!
But from discord and chaos, new poetry is born. Sound and cadence latch on, and poetry adorn! If you like it, gents, feel free to snap along-o! If not- let's hear you say so over myyyyy..."
She paused, then blew a round, black bubble into the air from between aforementioned lips. The drummer wiggled her fingers above her bongo set for a moment, then gave a quick snap. The bubble detonated, exploding the word "BONG-O" into the air as she began hitting the skins anew. Blessedly, the word popped near the ceiling rather than near the microphone, so there was no danger of double amplifying the exclamation.

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ She tried not to judge on her sense of being tired of being disappointed in herself and most of all her curiosity to see the man she loved. She really hoped that the people were done with the love songs, up till now, nothing had made her squirm as much as the piano play but she was a bit afraid when Delta introduced that the next play would be a poet, how much would this poet hold on to romantic blabla? Hanako would not say and she did not want to think about it. The inspiring thing was, to her at least, that it was a music night, that's how Delta had sold it to her and Miku did too so she had not expected a poet. The girl all dressed in black looked at least rather fashionable, thank god Hanako missed the reflection of the light in her sunglasses so she could still see without dancing colourful dots in front of her eyes. She looked her up and down and understood that the bongos would help her a little with the rhythm that Delta just mentioned, she was rather curious to hear her and when she did, Hanako couldn't help but smile at the way the girl spoke, it was funny and easy, She had no other needs for distractions in this case, she could just pay attention to her words and not think about anything else. Albeit the quirk use of the girl, made Hanako's eyes follow the bubble to see what it was doing until she heard the words that fell out of it in a matter of speech. She looked back at the girl, back at the bubble that was now gone but she could have sworn the word came from there and not from the girl her lips, now that was something interesting indeed.

It was time for the penultimate performance of the night. Kenshin had a lot of fun listening to all the acts that came before, and he had no doubt that he would enjoy this one too. And from the looks of things, this one was going to be rather poetic. Kenshin was already intrigued and looked forward to seeing just what Farrah di Prima would deliver. The first thing Kenshin noticed when the girl addressed the audience was how she seemed to end her sentences with rhymes. That was really cool! Did she rehearse a bunch to be able to do that? Or was it natural? Either way, very impressive, and a good first impression. Kenshin then heard the sound of a bongo. Then the rhymes came, being complimented by the drumming. It was not what Kenshin expected, but there was no denying that it was pretty good. Simple and to the point. Of course, Farrah had a surprise to throw in. Just as she was finishing her last verse, she paused. Then then blew a black bubble from her mouth into the air. Kenshin stared at it with curiosity. Was that her quirk? And then it popped, with the final word of the rhyme being completed in an explosive fashion. With that done, Kenshin began to applaud loudly. A very creative rhyme that ended in a bang. Definitely a great job on Farrah's part. He was eager to see what she would follow that up with. @tagged | Word count: 247
Notes: Very unique and creative. Nice job!

| A ngel couldn't believe that she was going to be late! She had heard in passing during her training that her girlfriend Farrah was going to be performing at a music night at a little hole in the wall called the fourth corner! As soon as soon as Angel found out she quickly rushed to her dorm room to get cleaned up and dressed in her sexy summer outfit with some sexy leather black boots with her vanilla perfume. Once she was ready she left the dorms and flew away at her top speed toward her destination high enough that civilians couldn't see her,but not so high that she wouldn't be able to spot her destination. Once she arrived Angel quickly landed and rested her wings flat against her back while heading inside luckily just as soon as Farrah just was getting started. "You can do it baby!"As the bongo's began to play and Farrah began to rap and rhyme like she always did Angel couldn't help but stay around as she listened. Angel could never get enough of Farrah's voice and playing. Angel had no idea that her lovely song bird could play the bongo's as well as rap! She just could help, but smile at how amazingly talented she was! As the performance came to an end however she saw Farrah let out one of her quirk bubbles and so even though she wanted to hear what came out she knew it would harm her and so she quickly removed her hearing aid until it popped. Once that was done she quickly tried to make her way through the crowd up to the stage not to perform, but to greet and congratulate her lover and girlfriend however she seemed to be having a hard time getting through and so Angel opened up her wings with what limited space she had and took to the air to hover over the crowd so Farrah could see her as she gave her a thumbs up to let her know she was there! "I better get her something to eat and drink for when she's done.As Angel flew off the stage and back into the crowd she spotted her friend Kenshin and quickly made her way to him since this was the first time they had seen each other since right before the sports festival so her large jagged scar under right eye that went half down her face was new to him. "Hey Kenshin! Wanna follow me to the bar while I get my girl friend Farrah something to eat and drink? We have some catching up to do! How are you!? How is my little fan club? I heard they had t-shirts with my symbol on them for the festival?"As she spoke to her friend she made her way as carefully and as quickly as she could, and once she got there she tapped the bar to get the bartender's attention. "Hey man! I'll take an order of deluxe chilli-cheese fries with the works and two cluck cola's please!"Once she paid for her order Angel sat on one of the stools and turned back toward Kenshin. "Sorry I missed so much. I didn't hear about it until tonight." |

The host introduced the next performer who would turn out to be one of the more unique acts of the evening. Apparently she was a poet. Karen didn't recognize the name but when she walked up on stage she looked like she was of student age. Karen like their look too. It really gave off that poet vibe. With nothing but a chair and bongo drums the poet-rapper began her snappy performance. It was a very different feel from any other act Karen had heard tonight. She had initially wondered why the arranger for the evening placed such an act so close to the finale but hearing it now convinced her of the novel choice. It was captivating in an unusual way, almost hypnotic in nature the way she tapped on the drums somewhat erratically but while maintaining a sense of beat and rhythm. It was difficult to describe as Karen had not heard many similar performances before. This too was music in its own way. She found herself snapping her fingers along with the members of the audience who were similarly mesmerized. After the failed rap earlier, it was nice to see someone nail their lines and rhymes. There was pause at the end of it as Farrah used what Karen assumed was he quirk, a bubble forming in the air. With a snap of her fingers the bubble popped and completed the last line in a rather 'explosive' manner. At the back of her head Karen questioned the public use of a quirk but she couldn't deny it really complimented the act well. The bubble wasn't the only attention-catching thing however. A certain someone had risen from the crowd to show their support and approval. There was no way Karen would mistake those wings. It seemed Angel had come to watch too. It was strange how she didn't notice the upperclassman before. Did she come late? Karen pushed up her tinted glasses against her face and adjusted her hat. She had been enjoying her time watching alone tonight so she wasn't going to come over and say hi to anyone. She wasn't even sure if she would approach anyone when it was all over. In any case considering all the UA performers this evening it wasn't too weird to see so many among the audience too. Perhaps the poet on stage was also an upperclassman since Angel knew them. She could look it up later.

Farrah may have reasonably been worried that, with her out of the audience, there would be a marked drop in enthusiasm out there to accompany her act, since she'd been going at it so hard all night. Of course, Farrah didn't let much worry her, and in this case, there was no reason to worry after all: the crowd seemed to take to her poetry more easily than she could have hoped. Some of them had even joined in snapping along with her, which was great. The sound would only pick up further, the more people that joined in.
An even better piece of news she quickly discovered: her girlfriend had joined the audience, coming in right at the end of the night just to watch her leg of the show. it wasn't hard to pick Angel out of a crowd, for a variety of reasons. "Alright, fellas! We've got a special guest tonight! My girlfriend, Angel, is a heavenly sight! She's so gorgeous, I couldn't forget her! Give her some applause! Put em together!" Farrah encouraged the audience, while pointing to her girlfriend. She led the audience, hopefully, in a peel of clapping for her girlfriend. All of the attention was probably a little embarrassing, but Farrah was the type who complimented freely and to the point of excess.
"Okay, now that you've all had a show, there's still just a little bit more to go! I've got more rhymes in me, and since they ain't stoppin', let's get another fresh beat poppin'!" she introduced her next song. "Ahem, maestros, master of stage? I know bongo solos are all the rage, but this one needs a little soundtrack. Lay me down something to play in the back!" she encouraged the Fourth Corner staff, to whom she'd earlier provided a digital accompaniment to go with her next song. This was another reason, she noted, it would be good to find a band at some point in the future.
With the night nearly spent, Farrah would continue to play what she was feeling. This next bongo set wasn't a fast paced show of sill like the last one, more of a peppy, relaxing rhythm.
As she played she released a few slow bubbles into the air:
"If you want play with me clap your hands stomp your feet!"
This would likely lead to the whole room becoming a spirited- and noisy- extra companion piece to her music. She'd nod along and keep slapping her bongos until she got to what she felt to be a decent pausing point, then raised her clenched fingers and ceased percussion. This would indicate for the crowd to quiet down, while she performed a little more poetry.
"Whether you write your songs, or just like to play Whether you've sung along, or stayed silent today Whether your thoughts are here, or drifting afar Even if you're so outta here, you missed every bar...
This humble poetess thanks you for giving the time To attend and let me bounce off my rhymes When I see everyone smile and have fun I feel like my life's work's being done!
We heard so much music. Perhaps you made friends! Maybe we're hoping this night never ends! But alas, we're close, and the time's nearly right To hug those new friends and kiss them goodnight.
But no need to cry, and never despair Because even if tomorrow, you go work somewhere Friends old and new await you! Don't you know it? And one of those friends is this selfsame poet."
She clasped her hands to her heart and gave a happy sigh, then went back to drumming for a bit longer. Once she was confident her digital track was about to end, she blew a few bubbles into the air:
"Sayo nara!"

As Kenshin eagerly awaited for the start of the next song, he was surprised to see a familiar face. "Angel? Hi, it's been a while!" Her arrival would not be the only surprise, however. Apparently, the girl performing on stage at the moment was actually Angel's girlfriend. Kenshin could not help but smile at how sweet it was for someone to come show support for their lover. This was actually the second female couple Kenshin had seen now, after Tetsuko and Elise. As Kenshin followed Angel to the bar, the two would converse for a bit. "I came here not just to show support for my friends, but to also take part in the performances myself. I already did my act earlier." It was fine that she didn't get to see him play. Perhaps next time they meet, he could bring his bass guitar and play for her and the other students at Shien's Dojo. Speaking of the students, Kenshin chuckled at hearing Angel refer to them as her fan club. She was not wrong. "They're doing great. Ukuro and the others all say hi. And whenever we're on break, you're almost all they talk about. I imagine they'll be massively sad once they hear about Farrah. But jokes aside, we all watched you at the Sports Festival on TV. You did amazingly well. And yeah, they all had those shirts, asking me why I wasn't wearing mine." Ah, so many laughs. But now wasn't the time to reminisce about the past. It was time to see Farrah's next song. While Angel ordered her food and drinks, Kenshin didn't order anything as he wasn't feeling hungry or thirsty at the moment. He just waited patiently for the next part of the performance. He had a feeling that this next song would be just as fun as the last if not more so. And already things were looking great. Before the song even began, Farrah gave a warm and lovely shout out to her winged girlfriend, encouraging the audience to give her some applause. Obviously, Kenshin would choose to do so, being more than happy to applaud his friend. Next, there was a request to have something play in the background as Farrah played her bongos. Kenshin began nodding his head and tapping his foot to the sound of the beat. Damn, this sounds so good!If the overall melody was great, then that was like the peanut butter to the jelly that was the lyrics. Kenshin listened to the message Farrah was conveying. He smiled, enjoying the message that was being delivered. Thanks for the fun time and performances of tonight. Bidding everyone adieu as the Music Night was soon approaching its finale. And the assurance that even though the night was almost over, there would be friends waiting tomorrow. It was a very positive message, and once it was all over, Kenshin was clapping and cheering as loudly as he could. "That was beautiful! She really knows how to rhyme!" Smiling, he then turned to Angel. "Farrah's really something else, isn't she? Here's hoping that you two stay happy for a very long time." If Farrah ever performed onstage again, Kenshin hoped that he would know about it so that he could watch her perform again. Definitely a solid performance. @tagged | Word count: 551
