sometimes you want to go WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
After the last two performances, Delta was looking forward to a return to the classics. Not that the prior two hadn’t been entertaining, but the bartender wasn’t really keen on testing if the novelty of the unordinary could last for a third round! Fortunately, their next act would bring things back, hitting home with a lovely and classical combination, a duet of instrumentation that was sure to touch the hearts of the audience, as another pianist had already. Delta had faith in her employee, Ryuusei, to deliver as powerful a tune as he had on the day she’d recruited him, and hopefully his partner was well-selected too! Without much fanfare, as the audience knew what to expect at this point, Delta approached the stage once more, her captivating presence and appearance drawing eyes as she gestured for everyone’s attention and grabbed the mic. ”Lovelies, lovelies, it’s been an interesting group so far, hasn’t it?” A few chuckles around the room, Delta herself smirking towards the crowd as she made dismissive gestures with one of her hands. ”An entertaining one too, I’d hope! Nonetheless, let us, with our next act, return to the classics, the old-fashioned, the tried and tested…” A gesture was made for the performers to approach the stage, where whatever they needed would have already been set up. ”Ladies and Gentlemen, sit back and enjoy the classical side of life, have a bit of R&R as you cheer on our next act: Rowan and Ryuusei!” Dear performer, this act is now in your hands!- The performer will post after this introductory post, to begin their performance - From there, they will give a window for spectators to post (i.e. 48 hours) after which the performer is expected to post again! - This repeats until the performance is done! - Dear performers, please, choose a posting window that suits your own posting habits - aim to complete this performance in ~2 weeks, 3 max. - And most importantly... Have fun!0000 WORDS |

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ When was the last time she performed? She felt as if she was very pale and an idiot for standing here, she did not want to stand here but she had said yes and also said she would do this performance with Ryuusei and well here they were. The knuckles on her left hand were white as she firmly held the violin in her hand.
They had practiced enough, they were the same level of enthusiasm with discipline, they could do this fine. She nodded firmly to herself and watched the lady introduce them. R&R, which was only now that Rowan realized their names started with the same letter, huh... Which distracted her and quickly followed her partner up the stage. Standing at the end of the piano, a little bit further forward as would make the best sound quality, the best guidance for her music and the best well...well for everything, apart from her own pale face looking at the audience, which as she realized in seconds, she could barely see because of the light. Wonderful! Now she could just focus!
The first part was the easiest and difficult one at the same time, if she would get into the song, it would no longer be difficult, she plucked on the strings of her violin, the pizzicato movement that she was afraid of as a child, afraid she would pull her strings too harshly. Yet her stance, with the violin on her left shoulder, her face tilting to the left and the bow in her right hand felt so familiar that she simply could not stop with what she practiced with Ryuusei before.
When the song in her eyes and ears really began, she had to make the quick motion and sound to play the violin, to play the right strings, to make the dance of the death start. |

You don't need a dream or even a tomorrow Just live
It had been a few days - hell, maybe even weeks if he had the patience to count correctly - since Ryuusei started working at The Fourth Corner, a job opportunity that came to him after Delta Ivey scouted the teenager back at the Sports Festival. This was his first proper job, but Ryuu wasn't finding it that hard or difficult - in fact, one could even say he was enjoying it. Serving tables, welcoming different types of clients, playing some music... it was a much needed change of pace from the usual stuff. There were even some other employees that also studied at Yuuei, so meeting them - or, well, at least trying to - was also becoming an interesting experiment. But today wasn't a regular day at the office - today was the much anticipated Music Night. Ryuusei had been working all night, making sure he was doing is job properly and, because of that, not paying much attention to what was going on with other performances... with the exception of Elise's, he couldn't have avoided that even if he wanted to. However, quickly came the time where Ryuusei himself had to play. He had been the one inviting Rowan after realizing she probably needed this way more than him. If he hadn't met her at the music room of Yuuei some days prior, Ryuu wouldn't even have entered himself into the "competition": after all, his track record during music nights wasn't particularly great. But there he was, sitting in front of the grand piano with Rowan a few steps away from him. Whenever you're ready, he told Rowan, since the song started with the violin giving the lead. Ryuusei stretched his arms, his back completely straight. One could still see his usual relaxed and careless self, but there was also a clear difference: when on the piano, Ryuusei was body and soul one with the instrument, respecting the piano by keeping a posture of utmost gratitude. Rowan began and, shortly after, Ryuusei's fingers started to gracefully touch each key of the piano. The Dance of Death began and it showed - Ryuu played like he was in trance, like he was trying to raise the dead from the ground. Notes: Sorry for taking long!Words: 372.Tags: Rowan Sakamoto

Farrah was the type who tended to be the oddest person in the room, even before her quirk came into it. Even still, some of the first handful of performances of group 2 had tested the limits of her imagination, for just how bizarre a performance could be and how far the definition of "art," and for that matter, "music" could be stretched. She'd come out with a lot of food for thought, that was for sure.
Perhaps it was fitting, then, that the next set was a bit of a return to form: classic, inoffensive, and for that matter, practiced. Furthermore, Farrah even recognized one of the performers: Rowan Sakamoto, the cheerleading team captain, and one of the companions closest to her bosom. After all, it was through Rowan's efforts that Farrah had met so many of her fellow students and found a stage to perform on so early upon entering the school! She only wished that she'd managed to suss out Rowan's presence here earlier. Would her friend stay in the audience for a little poetry near the close of the show? Only time would tell.
For now, she focused on the now, both the performance and the performers. The two of them were so no-nonsense that it was almost comical, next to the previous performers. Farrah strongly resisted the urge to stand up and wave to her cheerleader team buddy, instead planting her fingers around the bottom of her seat to make sure she'd stay put. "Hearing my friend perform inspires such joy! And curiosity, two, when I spy a boy! Could they be a pair? Have I seen him before? A friend of Rowan's? Or possibly, more?" she gossiped with no one but herself, sipping her drink with a sly smile. If Rowan spotted Farrah in the audience, which she undoubtedly would, given the girl's standout appearance, it would stand to reason Rowan might worry about Farrah exclaiming in a cheer and breaking into her performance, if not spinning or cartwheeling. It was unlikely the effect would be calming, at any rate.

Ah, back to the classics. As much as Kenshin enjoyed the performances that came before, he was looking forward to listening to some classic style of music. Piano and violin? Sounded like a match made in heaven. Kenshin smiled as he saw the performers take the stage. He looked forward to seeing what Rowan and Ryuusei could do. Almost immediately, the boy could tell that these two would be amazing. The way they were playing their instruments, it was clear that these two had practiced hard to make this work, pouring their heart and soul into this. And hot damn, it shows! The two instruments were complimenting each other beautifully. It was like two dancers moving perfectly in unison. Kenshin could not help but be amazed at the beauty of the sound, the way it built up, and the gentle way it faded at the end. By the time the song was done, Kenshin's applause aimed to be among the loudest. Holy shit, that was beautiful! And this was just the first song. Who knows what soothing melodic euphoria would bless his ears next. There was one thing that was very clear. Rowan and Ryuusei did an amazing job. Kenshin eagerly awaited for the next song. @tagged | Word count: 206

After an unusual but otherwise fun performance, it seemed the next act was back to being more traditional. Considering all the others that came before, it stood out that the next pair was performing classical for a change. As for who was performing, Karen was reminded that tonight's event was practically a UA event in all but name. Another pair of students would go up on stage and this time since they used their real names, it wasn't too hard to tell. These were upperclassmen again whom Karen had never met before but recognized by name at least. It was time to see what sort of impression they would leave her with. As this was classical, there was a high chance that Karen had heard the piece before. Danse Macabre was an interesting choice to go with as the opener. It was certainly powerful and attention grabbing though. It showed the effort and practice the two went through to deliver the performance and Karen found herself getting swept away. Perhaps she was a little biased here. But classics were one of the few genres she could say that she really liked. This first song pretty much reminded her of that. It was a great first impression for the two. Speaking of being mesmerizing, she almost didn't notice that she ended up finishing her drink in the middle of that performance. By the time she realized it, the first piece was done and she was sipping air from her straw. She quickly gestured for a waiter to ask for a refill before the next piece began. With such a show of talent on that first song, she had very high hopes for what would come after. She found herself thinking too what would be a good follow-up piece to use to capitalize on the current mood.

tags here | ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ The melody of the Dance Macabre was in a way upbeat, she could always loose herself in that way of handling herself and to continue and so on, she would focus so much on what she had to play, she did not need the music sheets as she learned this song by heart, as well as the next. She gave a short bow when their first song was done and looked shortly at Ryuusei, finally breaking her facade that was so strict and focused, she gave him a small smile and her eyes soften. Yes, they were doing fine and she grinned shortly before turning her attention back to the audience to start the second song.
She took a deep breath, placed the violin back on her shoulder, grateful that the pain in her arm was completely gone before she moved the violin bow again back on the strings, she had to focus even more and be more adequate and quick for the second song. The first song already took some time, seven minutes was impressive work if she would say so herself but their second song, Kreutzer would take twelve minutes and she had to play a lot quicker and yet not hurry too much. She was mostly focused on this song, the dance macabre was something she remembered, this felt difficult but she had practiced, she would get in the trance of the music and play without any issue. |
