As mentioned in chat, staff are human, yes. They make mistakes. So do I. However, authority figures have a responsibility to put extra effort into correcting their mistakes to uphold community trust. Power should not come without cost.
The mistake I saw stemmed from Jingles’ compilation of what went down among staff. He made it explicitly clear he saw “zero objective evidence of Fluffy trying to remove Crimson. Any proof [he’s] seen from conversations or otherwise have merely been speculation on the part of Crimson or others.”
I don’t want heads to roll.
If I were in Crimson’s shoes, I might’ve probably thought the same way. I understand where she’s coming from. I would’ve been worried, given crumbling relations, that Fluffy would try to undermine me. And knowing Fluffy was talking with other staff members, that fear would’ve only gotten stronger.
Nonetheless, I could’ve been wrong.
As of right now, at the time this thread is posted, the “Removal of an Admin” post still states that Fluffy “has approached members of the staff in an attempt to have Crimson removed from the staff.”
If Jingles’ conclusion was incorrect and that the above claim is true, then I see two possible explanations for why Jingles said what he did: either he overlooked a piece of evidence during his investigation or this evidence was withheld. In either case, I kindly ask a staff member to give him this evidence so that he can update his document with more accurate conclusions.
On the flip side, if Jingles’ conclusion was correct and that the above claim is false, then I kindly ask staff to remove this statement from the announcement, to apologize to Fluffy for this specific line in the post, and to please refrain from drawing conclusions this way in the future. We’re only human. We make mistakes. We also learn from them and get better.
I won’t make assumptions about whether the claim is true or false. I do expect staff to take action though, to either correct Jingles or make amends. Until then, I look forward to this drama finally drawing to a close.
