Dear True Path--
Today’s events have made it necessary to address the removal of Fluffy from the staff team. Originally, this was meant to be announced after a month-long restructuring period, but we never want to conceal information, or give a false narrative to the memberbase as whole.
First, there are always disagreements among any moderator team. Different viewpoints are both inevitable and desirable, and it's through open discussion that we try to build consensus, and make the best possibly site for all of our members. However, while Fluffy was an admin, she acted as “final say” on any issue of discussion, rather than simply one admin out of three. Despite being confronted--individually and by groups--on the issue multiple times, she refused to settle disagreements either democratically, or reasonably, engaging in long, heated arguments to preserve her own ideas above anyone else’s.
This style of leadership caused many members of staff, including Crimson, to consider leaving the site on multiple occasions, and made it nearly impossible to make any meaningful changes to site rules or events. Beyond that, her style of debate was unnecessarily confrontational and personal.
Secondly, Fluffy’s conduct toward members could also be abrasive and uncomfortable. This is a behavior we know there have been attempts to improve on, but it’s still worrying in an admin.
Third, it seemed that Fluffy was unable to separate herself from her characters, and took IC discussion of rules, or OOC changes to rules that would negative affect her characters personally, rather than judging them on general impact to the site.
Due to this, Fluffy was asked in a private conversation by the majority of the moderator team to step down from her role as an Admin, but remain on the staff as a moderator for a month. During this month, we intended to re-evaluate the general leadership structure of the staff team to ensure a more equal say for all members of staff. Instead, she chose to remove herself from staff entirely. However, the option of her rejoining was still on the table.
Since then, she’s approached members of the staff in an attempt to have Crimson removed from the staff, and return to her role as Admin, culminating in today.
Due to this, we no longer wish to have Fluffy on True Path’s staff team. She is welcome to remain a member.
Make no mistake. We harbour no ill will for Fluffy or those that might support her in this time. We believe this is the unfortunate result of pressure on both sides to deal with a terribly emotionally charged situation that ran out of control. It is our hope she chooses to stay with us as this situation is not worth losing friends, years of progress and mountains of sweat and tears over. Our only goal is to preserve a democratic and mutually respectful staff team.
As always, our first responsibility is to you, the members--
