Alaster was wandering down the street. As usual when out in public, the demon was wearing his mask to conceal his true face from others. Not a literal mask, but the figurative one that others would know as the reclusive writer Harry R. Krowe. Whilst under his civilian persona, others would recognize the author and run up to him, asking for autographs. The young man was not in a very good mood, having had to deal with idiots for a good portion of the day. Sadly, it would be very out of character for 'Harry' to tell people to bugger off. Instead, he smiled, gave them the autographs they wanted, and expressed his regrets of not being able to stay and chat for long as he was busy and needed to go about his business. In all honesty, Alaster sometimes wished that he had made Harry into an unlikable jerk just so others could leave him alone. Alas, he could not have everything he wanted.
His already bad mood would naturally only get worse, because of course fate seemed to refuse to let Alaster's bad day end so soon. It began to rain, and of course Alaster had left his umbrella at home. Oh great, just what I bloody needed, Alaster thought irritably as the downpour came crashing down. And of course this is on the day I chose to leave the bloody car at home. Why did I think walking would be a good idea? Not bothering to run as he was already wet, Alaster sighed and simply walked over to the closest establishment. Naturally, this would be the Fourth Corner.
Alaster had heard of the bar before. However, this was the first time that he was actually visiting the place. Even disregarding the fact that Alaster was technically too young to legally drink (not that his fake ID would ever let anyone know that), the man simply had no interest in drinking. Considering what had happened the last time Alaster got drunk, it was safe to say that he was determined to steer clear of any and all kinds of alcohol (unless Meiko went out of her way to convince him to make an exception). This was why he rarely if ever visited bars.
Still, even he had to admit that the Fourth Corner seemed to be pretty nice. Far preferable to Ramos's Bar and Grill in any case. Even not counting the fact that that bar just had several bad memories of the Deadlock Gang that left a bitter taste in Alaster's mouth, the Fourth Corner just seemed a lot more welcoming and pleasant. Alaster supposed that if he ever were to change his mind about never drinking again, this would be the place he'd go to for that.
As Alaster contemplated whether or not to order something non-alcoholic to drink, something grabbed his attention. He noticed a lady with cards. A fortune teller of some kind? Alaster scoffed. He was not one to believe in some idiotic superstitions. Besides, even if they weren't a scam, Alaster did not need the help of simple cards to tell him that fate hated his guts. So why bother wasting his time?
Still, Alaster could use a distraction to keep his thoughts from focusing on his shitty day, and he needed to do something whilst waiting for the cab to arrive. So why the hell not? Making his way to the lady with the tarot cards, Alaster gave her a warm smile. After faking it for such a long time, it was easy for Alaster to make it look genuine. He then spoke whilst doing his best to feign interest.
"Tarot card readings, eh? Alright, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot." How did this stuff work again? Something to do with asking a question? Well Alaster saw no point in asking the stupid trivial stuff. Instead, he figured he would go for the truth. At least as much truth as he could get from a phony psychic with tarot cards. He was curious as to see what kind of crap the lady would pull. Or who knows? Maybe she was the real deal and this would actually prove to not be fruitless. That would certainly be interesting. Well there was only one way to find out.
"Will I obtain the power to protect the one thing that matters most to me in the world?"
To Alaster, nothing was more important to him than keeping his beloved Meiko safe and eliminating anyone who either hurt her or tried to. Now to see what kind of response the lady would give. Alaster awaited her answer. WORDS 777 TAGS Rosey NOTES Let's see what the cards have to say |

It was interesting to see how the boy was the first one to ask the meaning of the drawings on the card. "Not really, the three girls stand for the magic of three, the power of three as we call it. Meaning each power is equal and yet special in its own way. Depending on the deck it can always be different." She smiled at him, maybe the boy with the Tower was interested too, he and his friend seemed to have stared at the card and trying their meaning but in this case, she could understand the wonders of three females on the card when it was drawn for the opposite gender. "The cup has a specific meaning, you have in the minor arcana, the cup, the sword, the wand and the pentacle. The cup stands for the element of water, which represents love and creativity. You should see it as water that flows through you to understand the love, whatever version of it but also inspiration and imagination." She mused a little, considering what more information she could tell about the cup card in general, "People who get cards of cups hold on to emotion and will learn how to use that for their future." She hoped he did not feel bad about getting a 'girly' card as some boys might say, it was one of the most important cards in the minor arcana if she would say so herself but not everyone would have to agree on that. But the boy left and she hoped he would understand the power, the leadership and inspiration that he was carrying. She simply took a sip of her drink, held the cards and thanked them, right before a new customer showed up. She looked up at the young man and frowned shortly, he looked familiar but he was obviously not here to hear her praise or questions if they had met before in some way. She simply nodded, it would not hurt in general but some people would not like the answer. She shuffled the cards while listening to his question, having the cards adapt to it and take in the energy around the man. She put the deck on the table, right in front of him and flipped the first card. Two of Wands. Sansa frowned a little, that was an okay answer, maybe not the happiest one but it was an okay answer. "Hmm, Yes and no." She said before looking up shortly and looking back at the card, pointing out that the wanderer in the card held the Earth in the palm of his hand. "You would have the Earth in the palm of your hand but you will never consider it to be enough. It would not be bad to ask advice from someone else but the card tells me, you will never feel like you succeed even if the rest of the world will say you do." Which made it a harsh card, funny how she had drawn the same card for another person, the girl in the beginning but how for her in combination with other cards it was completely different. The standstill would only pass if this man dared to admit he already succeeded or if he dared to ask advice, that was simply up to him.

Alaster had no idea what to expect from this lady or what answer the cards would give to his question. Would he get a positive answer in a vain attempt to get the man's bad mood to lighten up? Or would his answer be more negative, because of course not enough things went wrong in his life? Was he actually so bored that he honestly was curious what the lady would say regardless of what her answer was?
But then she began to speak. Her words... honestly were not what Alaster was expecting. He began to listen, and once the lady was done, started to think about what she just said. He would have the world in the palm of his hand? Whether that was meant figuratively or literally, it was anyone's guess. But it was the next part that got Alaster intrigued. It would not be enough? Would there be a void that he could not fill even if he was at the top? Well the only thing he could think of was Meiko. She was clearly the light that had filled the dark void of his heart. Of course conquering the world would mean nothing if he did not have his beloved by his side. She was worth more to him than the world itself!
But that line of thought brought up a horrifying possibility. Would he fail to be strong enough to protect Meiko? Would something horrible happen to her? Would that be why having the world being in his hands not be enough? Because she would not be by his side? Was that why it would not be enough? No! No, Alaster did not want to continue to think like that. He was misinterpreting the meaning of the cards, that's all. He had to be! Why would he even continue on if he were to lose Meiko? It wouldn't make sense! Meiko is his world! And already having her in his hands, there was no way that he was not satisfied. She was more than enough to keep him happy, to keep him content. As long as he had Meiko, Alaster would never feel like he was missing something.
Moving on to the second half of the lady's message, Alaster wondered who it was he should seek advice from. Besides Meiko who he trusted completely, who else was there? Would he eventually meet someone who had answers to questions he did not yet realize he had? What did that mean? And he would never feel like he succeeded even if the rest of the world said he did? What was the meaning of that? Sure life was still screwing him over from time to time, but he had Meiko now. Wasn't he already successful in finding happiness?
With all of the pondering and thinking Alaster had done, he had nearly forgotten about the less than stellar day he had. Upon realizing this, Alaster smiled. Was that the true purpose of the lady's words? Or was it just a helpful coincidence? Either way, Alaster was glad he had given this person a bit of his time. As thanks, he reached into his pocket for some cash and handed it to the lady, regardless of whether she wanted it or not. It was enough to pay for her next drink, with a generous amount left over.
"To be honest, I did not really expect your words to have the effect they did. This was a most illuminating experience. Thank you, and I hope your day goes far better than mine." With a nod, Alaster turned around and began to walk off, taking out his phone to check if the taxi was nearby yet.
He had a lot to think about. Would being with Meiko not be enough to ensure his success? Would someone try to kill her? Well it made no difference. Alaster was determined to become strong enough to protect his beloved. If he had to fight fate itself, then so be it. WORDS 666 TAGS Rosey NOTES Alaster is overthinking things lol |

Post by Takumi Fujimoto on May 24, 2019 16:48:25 GMT -4
As Takumi tended bar and served various customers, a part of his mind kept telling him that business felt relatively busy and bustling, but the reality was that The Fourth Corner definitely had nights with more urgency, as well as plenty of nights with less business and a more relaxed pace. Every time the door opened, the gentle cacophony of rain drops tapping away at the street, side walks, and cars would seep into the air of the bar, and those that walked inside sported either an umbrella or wet marks on their clothing. Rainy weather did tend to draw in a crowd more often than not, even if a bar wasn't where some of those people necessarily wanted to be.
While Takumi stayed busy at work, earning his paycheck and tips as best he could, he would try to engage any customers in friendly banter, learning about some new people and establishing further rapport with the regulars, and he would occasionally notice a classmate or two come inside for a little bit. One trend that stuck out to Takumi, however, was that many people seemed to spend a few moments visiting a lady sitting in the back, as if passing by a nest that she made for herself earlier on. Most of his attention remained with the customers who were sitting at the bar and making drinks for the wait staff to bring to the tables they were serving, but the boy would still glance over occasionally to find the woman playing with some cards whenever a new person sat down with her. They were too far away and the place was too noisy and dimly lit for Takumi to actually be able to figure out what was going on, leaving the curiosity to chip away at him for a bit.
Eventually, Takumi decided now was a fine time to take his break, leaving his station in the care of some of the other fantastic, and better trained and experienced, bartenders. Instead of heading straight for the little nook where this woman was playing with cards, Takumi quickly remembered that she initially gotten a cup of chamomile when she first arrived and very rarely did any tea last this long before being completely consumed. Takumi would quickly brew another cup of tea, steeping the bag in some very hot water sitting inside a freshly cleaned mug for a minute before carefully carrying it over, gently wading through the many other people inside the bar so as not to accidentally drop the tea or spill it on anybody.
Hi... I thought you might be ready for another cup of tea... Takumi would approach Sansa and carefully place the mug, and the small plate it was sitting on, onto the table. He would notice the cards and the artistic nature of the wooden box, and his eyes would furrow in curiosity for a moment. Now that he was up close, he could recognize that they were tarot cards but he actually knew very little beyond that. Most of his knowledge about tarot came from the occasional mention of them in a show or game that involved them, usually used as a characterization device for a fortune teller archetype of character.
These are tarot cards, right? Takumi tilted his head to the side as he asked Sansa about her cards, getting a better angle on the art displayed on them. So do you do fortune telling or something like that? I kept seeing people come back here for a few minutes to talk and then leaving... Was that were you doing?
The tone in Takumi's voice would display nothing but sincere curiosity and nothing else, like a small child asking someone in the middle of painting what they were trying to paint before any big shapes took form. If you're still doing card readings, could I ask for one please? It looks like fun...
Assuming Sansa was open to his request, Takumi would sit down across from her and remain silent for a moment before his face lit up in a small shock of realization. That's right, I need to ask you something first, right? Takumi's eyes would roll up, as if trying to look into his brain, while his fingers came up to his chin in thought. Hmm, I can't think of anything specific to ask, I'm sorry... Can I just ask what the future holds for me in general? Whether it be school, career, love, friends, or something else?
Takumi would remain unsure for a moment, due to his lack of actual knowledge on how these things worked and only have the most vague ideas of tarot cards based on depictions in media which he realized were probably inaccurate misrepresentations.

Sansa was a little worried that the mysterious man that wanted to protect the love of his life would not understand the matter, he already proved that the cards were right, he would be able to protect her, he would only never consider it enough and she gave him a wry smile and thanked him for his time as well for the yen to buy another drink. She was not surprised by the generosity of the people here but it made her happy none the less. She wondered about the time for a chance when the man left and if she should be more clear with her answers or if this was exactly what the cards wanted, a one card reading was simple but it gave a lot of obstacles of interpretenring the cards by itself. She looked up when one of the people of the bar came over and she smiled at the young man and looked happily at the cup of tea that he so carefully put on the table, completely the opposite of the hidden woman that seemed to not be bothered yet wanting to know her future. "Thank you so kindly." She said happily. She wrapped her hands shortly around the warm mug and noticed the curious look in his eyes and smiled about that as well, "Yes it is, are you interested?" It seemed indeed he was, paying attention to what happened before, "Yes, a lot of people seemed to be interested today, I try to help them with the questions they have of their worries about the future." She said simply, she could of course not tell what their cards meant, that was personal and she wasn't even sure if she was always right, not everyone seemed to have showed that matter to her. But she had so the idea she was being quite accurate through the day. "Of course you can, what would you like to know?" Sansa asked, putting the tea a little aside and picking up her cards to warm them up for the question Takumi would ask. "A question or just wondering about your future, both is okay." She said with a little giggle because of his facial expression, it was nice to see and as he asked about his future, giving suggestions but open to anything, she let the questions come to her as she shuffled the cards long enough until she felt it was ready and put the deck back on the table and swap the first card so the picture was up to see for the both of them, turned to Takumi it was the card: Justice. It almost made her wonder if there was a pattern. "Hm, the justice card means that you need to ask yourself if there is something out of balance and what sort of justice you are looking for. What you think is unfair in your life, it's your opinion, so it can be something that you can change if you just consider how to fix the balance. Even if you can't fix it on your own, you can make the first step." That was the best way to explain it, "You soon will represent something of justice, I can't see what in this reading but be prepared for that in your future. You will restore a piece of balance, you should think about fair play, honesty, harmony and balance in your near future and those elements are very important. Situations will work themselves out thanks to this. Trust is important but also to be considerate." She smiled and hoped it would explain enough to the boy, she wondered now very curiously what his future would hold for him.

Takumi had no reason to doubt the woman's potential friendliness, given that she welcomed many other strangers into her area and gave them readings, but he still felt relief at her warm and inviting nature after he approached and began speaking to her. Sansa seemed more than happy to offer the boy a tarot card reading, and he was quite curious to see what would happen in his first ever experience with this sort of stuff. His only "knowledge" of tarot cards were from small references in media, and he figured most of it wasn't accurate, along with a mental hesitance when it came to how legitimate this sort of stuff was. Takumi never really believed in anything that he considered to be supernatural, such as ghosts or mind reading, and as far as he could tell this kind of stuff was the same. Still, just because he knew nothing about it or didn't necessarily believe in it, didn't mean it wasn't true either.
Whether his actual fortune could be told through these cards or it was just a parlor trick was something Takumi couldn't know for sure, but he still enjoyed it regardless. Next came the actual reading. Justice? Takumi wasn't quite sure how to interpret it, even with Sansa's elaboration. A slightly puzzled but mostly attentive and curious expression showed on his face as the woman suggested he examine his life with his sights set on an imbalance of sorts. There would be something out of balance, and Takumi would either be the person to set things right, or at least the catalyst to set a chain of events into motion which would bring balance back. A small swell of excitement sat in Takumi's stomach as Sansa predicted that he would be representative of justice in the future, as that was a goal that any heroic student at Yuuei should aspire to.
Oh! Hmmm... Takumi thought to himself for a brief moment after Sansa went on to explain how some situations should work themselves out due to his "role," for lack of a better word in his own mind. So... I just need to be mindful of people around me and trust them? And then things that are wrong will get better?
Takumi's tone of voice was mostly flat with a slight shift towards curious, as he voiced his thoughts aloud and tried to figure out what his fortune could mean more specifically. Maybe he just needed to be ready for a time where someone might need a friend or a shoulder to lean on, or maybe it could be something much bigger like some deep corruption that he stumbles upon and brings to light. To Takumi, anything was possible but he couldn't grasp what else he should be on the look out for.
Takumi stood up and offered a respectful bow to Sansa before speaking again. Thank you for your time! I will do my best to be the justice that you see in my future. Takumi's face would reveal a smile as his head lifted back up before walking away, heading back to his position behind the bar to get back to work after his break was over.

Brandon sighs as he approaches The Fourth Corner. A place to relax and listen to music, huh? Not exactly his forte, but he's no stranger to music (get it, forte? Eh? Get it?...Aw forget it, brain. That was a good joke and you know it). It's just that he ain't really a drinking guy nor is he a singing guy. Like he knows some decent songs that he tends to hum to himself while training, but doing it in front of people is a whole other thing. Plus, all those bartenders always try to get you to drink at least ONE thing and it always gets to the point where the next time they asked, he would justify them kicking him out of the place.
So why did he decided of all times to come in here? Perhaps it was a customer, one of Kent's, who brought this place to his attention. While he was eating some delicious ramen and Kent was fixing up something, they were talking about an up and coming place where people can relax and chill or some other shit. Kent may have dismissed that as he continued to fix up the blender, but not Brandon. Brandon payed more attention than his so called 'genius' partner, and since he managed to finish up some gym work, he decided it was about time he went out to...relax? Maybe? Dunno, but they said they had good food, so why not?
Entering the place, he can see why it would have such a large appeal on people. It's kinda calmish in the "fancy bar' kind of way, with some soft jazz in the background, not much to say, really. He expected like a lot more, like, dunno, maybe large amounts of dancers flouting money everywhere for people to grab, preferably to give to him so he can get a big ramen bowl and...what was he thinking about, again? Was it about that...weird lady in the back?
A small stand hid behind Brandon, which was only found because he turned his head to that direction. A young employee was finishing up some business there, and from the small set of cards in front of her...it's clearly obvious that she's a poker player...wait no. What's another profession that use cards? Uuuuuum...tarot reading! Ye-yeah, shes a fortune teller! Those lousy assholes who's always trying to scam you out of money or something...although the kid didn't pay for it. Maybe it's free? Dunno. If it is free, perhaps he can see if this lady is the real deal in being a good scammer.
Walking up the the booth, Brandon glares at her. "...So, you're a fortune teller...yeah I know your game. I tell you what I want, you look at fancy looking nice cards, and blam, that's my future or something, right?" He shoves his hand in his pocket, pondering something that can stump her. "Well, how about this for my question..." It has to be something that no one would reasonably know, that no one but him can desire. Something that only he do. "Will I find that asshole with the stinger and bring him to justice?" He stares at the lady....then frowns a bit as he shakes his head "Al-also I guess, what my general future is, I dunno."

Sansa was surprised by the interest in the people around, maybe many were sarcastic or sceptical when it came to the reading of their future and yet they could not withstand the idea of simply asking now that a possibility was there. Maybe she should set up a permanent stall somewhere, so she could do better readings, the cards told you the path you were on, fickle, it could change very quickly. She was at least glad that most cards were positive, that rarely happened lately and thus she was glad to see Takumi walk off with a smile, yes the future's justice. But he wasn't gone yet or another person showed up and she looked up surprised, not even having time to take a sip of her tea. "That's how some people work." She simply answered the young man who said he knew how the cards worked. Yes it was a shame that there were people out there simply robbing the people of the future or only selling them the future they wanted to hear. "I let the cards answer for me, so you don't have to tell me anything about you, not even your name." She said with a small smile though for it seemed that he was testing the waters. Even if he seemed to be a man of rough words and tough settings, he stuttered a bit when it came to his future and she simply invited him to sit as she took the cards back in her hands and shuffled them. The asshole with a stinger, interesting way of putting words, she shuffled, thought and accepted the energy that the man gave off before putting the deck on the table. Before she could take the first card from the deck one slipped out and turned itself around in the little motion of the fall and she simply raised an eyebrow before taking it back and putting it, colours upward to Brandon. "Your card is The Knight of Swords." Interesting how he spoke about serving someone's justice and the cards seemed to agree. "I can't say what justice means in your situation but the cards seemed to agree that it's time to do so. Movement towards you, you will find the person you are looking for, it will not be easy, see it as a need for action, you have to dive in and become that... hero." Albeit the last word she said reluctantly, it was what the cards said but it wasn't exactly the right word in a society where heroes were people that got paid by the government, "be that form of justice." She wanted to chuckle about the meaning of the card, representing a passionate and exciting young man but also a bit of arrogance, wit and some could call it a warrior, maybe he was and maybe he was not. "The knight of Swords wants to tell you that you should continue the exploration, you are on the right track but new ideas to continue are not bad, you need a little change in the winds to be able to continue and you need to communication. Maybe you already have a source that knows more but the search is... too vague?" She wasn't sure if he was vague to everyone about the person he was trying to find. "You need to believe that you are capable of what you are already doing, a transformation is coming your way and you have to grab on to that moment and continue." She looked up to Brandon to wonder if he understood the card and what it meant, she wasn't sure how else to explain, "Does that satisfy a bit?" She hoped it did, after all the cards agreed with him. She gave him a wry smile and took a sip of her tea, letting him consider.

Brandon frowns a bit. That was vague as hell...but at the same time he can't helped but be eased by this fortune. Even if it's not specific, being assured that he should keep going on this path...kinda helps in cheering one up. He can't really tell her the whole reason as to why he asked this question, nor tell that he was being serious in bringing this guy to justice...but to be told to keep going with this plan...guess in a way he needed to hear that.
However, he sure as hell isn't gonna let this girl know that, so he's gonna have to play it off as him not caring. He can't let her know he's actually happy about this answer, since he came at her with the intent to mix her up and make her stop conning people. So he tries to frown, and stares at the girl. "Oh yeah, yeah sure. That totally satisfied me, it super did." He folds his arms. "Transformation huh? Guess I got that to look forward, pff." He stares at the card again. That's a cool looking horse and knight, if he was to be honest. He never thought of himself as a knight, but guess someone who drives their bike around can be considered the modern equivalent of a knight...no that's too weird. It's too weird to think that, he's not good enough to be a knight. Plus, he doesn't really like swords or weapons. He would rather punch things with his fists rather than using weapons, if it's all the same to him. "Nice cards." He shakes his head as he starts to leave. "...Gaaaaaaah." He shuffles around his wallet and pulls out a simple 500 yen bill. "I know that you say it's free....but still. It's not a good way to scam people if you do it for nothing." He gives off a small smile and heads out to the exit.

Goro hated bars. The scent of alcohol, the horrible contrast of bright lights against dark backdrops, the obnoxious loud drunks that frequented them, there wasn’t a single thing he could find in his heart to even tolerate.
So, why had he even bothered coming here? Mostly, curiosity. The Fourth Corner’s proprietress had advertised the place before in the Tokyo Underground chatroom, and any business finding its customers through such a place must have something going on beneath the surface. He was there to try and get a grasp on what that was.
Unfortunately, with such little information to go on, he didn’t know what to look for now he was here. It looked about the same as any other bar he’d been in, give or take a few dozen more Quirkers, and the strange woman in the booth at the back. Sure, he hadn’t been in many bars, but he didn’t think a bar was their usual residence.
Tarot readings and other fortune telling systems always seemed inherently ridiculous to Goro; obviously, some cheap pieces of cardboard weren’t going to hold the power of precognition, he wasn’t even sure if that was a power that could manifest as a Quirk. But, a little voice in the back of his mind wouldn’t let him turn away from that woman. Without a conscious sense of why, his feet carried him over to that booth, and he sat across from her, not quite meeting her eyes.
“You don’t seem to be keeping profits from this anywhere, so I assume you’re doing these readings for free, yes?” He asked, as if he actually cared either way. If she did ask for payment, he’d be willing to give it. He just needed a moment to think on what he actually wanted to ask.
The first questions that came to mind were also things he could never say out loud. If Nick would ever just fucking die, if the Gifted Underground would achieve their goals soon, and so on. Next, came questions that were just ridiculous to him, like asking about his love life or if he should buy a lottery ticket. Were those things people usually asked fortune tellers? He didn’t know.
Eventually, as no more questions came to mind, he gave up. “If so, may I just have, uh, a regular reading? I don’t have any specific questions I need answering.” His body was stone still, but his eyes were flicking around different areas of the bar, though he didn’t know what he was looking for. Should he order coffee? He’d never been a fan of bar coffee, so probably not, but it’d look a little weird for him to just leave after the reading, wouldn’t it?

She was again surprised by the attitude of her former costumer, he did not want to show her the happiness of his card? Sansa wondered, she thought it would be a good thing to hear that you are on the right path and should definitely continue... right? He even paid her, saying something about scamming people did not work that way. She wasn't entirely sure if she understood but she thanked him anyway and as Brandon left, Sansa checked the clock, she had been here all day, if someone would show up now she would do that reading still and after that it was probably for the best to leave. Surprising as she had not expected it, someone new showed up rather soon. The whole day was surprising by how many people stepped by, she did not judge nor consider who these people were and what they wanted apart from answers to questions, they all seemed hesitant, maybe even skeptical yet satisfied when the answer came about. To be honest most cards were positive too, maybe it was the vibe of the bar or Tokyo, she drew in the satisfied people, people that had to be pointed at the fact that what they were doing was okay. She smiled at her for-now last customer and nodded, "Yes, though people seem to insist to buy me a drink." She said with a giggle but that was mostly just to keep a conversation going. She took the cards back in her hands, shuffling them shortly to get rid of the card from Brandon and smiled to her new customer and wondering what he would like to know. It was quiet for a bit, probably considering what he wanted to know and think about, that was okay. The cards already vibrated in her hand, picking up questions unspoken but that was why they did the work and she only was their way of answering. She shook the cards after nodding for a second time, a regular reading. Well she did the small version as she had done with everyone today and shook the cards which seemed to try to find the answer or answers to his questions unspoken. She put the deck down when it told her it was done and turned the first card around. Ten of Wands. "Ah," She said softly and went to sit, "As you can see on the card, the person is carrying a lot of wands, ten to be exact of course, which all stand for activities and tasks that you have taken up, too many things, it can be more or less than ten but it is a heavy load. It is not bad to set a few aside for now and focus on less, you should not be wearing yourself out, the thing is that you might not notice but in the long run it is possible that you can't keep on carrying all the tasks you are holding up. You will feel overwhelmed. What you are doing is considered noble but there is an overabundance. You are being pulled into too many different directions and it will be good to let something go and centre yourself at one or two tasks at first. Maybe there is someone who you can support on who can help you to complete some of the other tasks, but don't do it alone." She wasn't sure if it was satisfying or understandable, for a young man like him, he might not see how tiring so many tasks could be in a longer period of time. She did not mind what his job was or what tasks he had given himself, the questions might be related to it but unspoken, she wouldn't know what the cards heard and thought, they simply had given her an answer. She would pack her own cards back in the wooden box and put it back in her bag. She would not get up before Goro did, simply to not make him feel unwanted but it was smarter to put it all away if she did not want to bring other people on the idea, maybe she could come back one day, but for now it was enough.

Goro watched her shuffle the deck closely, only looking up at her eyes when she flipped the card over. The Ten of Wands, huh? Listening to her explanation, he felt his eyelids start to close reflexively, and fought to keep them open. She obviously didn't know what she was talking about, but what else did he expect from a fortune teller? All he'd heard suggested they'd just generalize and make up problems that the average person usually had anyway, and 90% of the time they'd be right by simple statistic manipulation.
Of course, he wouldn't voice any of this, instead just nodding to be polite. No reason to call her on it when she probably had pre-written bullshit to respond with, something about how you're meant to find the meaning of the cards yourself or whatever. As she left, he didn't bother to wave or bid her farewell, instead just staying as still as he had been before. They weren't friends or anything, so he saw no need to. What did she think she was talking about? Being pulled in too many directions at once? Needing to let something go and focus on one thing? Find someone to help him? Ridiculous.
Right? Right. He didn't have problems like that. He knew what he was doing with his life. Sure, he was tired physically, but that was just the time of day, that had nothing to do with how much work he had to do.
Right?
