APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Takumi stands at a height slightly taller than the national Japanese average, with a fairly lean build that is healthy but not exactly impressive in terms of muscle. His usual apparel, outside of standard student uniforms, can often be described as comfortably casual and not too fancy but he isn't above dressing up to look nice. While the weather will often dictate what Takumi puts on before going out, it will often boil down to being relatively simple clothing such as athletic shorts and a tee shirt or simple jeans or sweat pants and a light hoodie, although nice slacks and sweaters can also be found in his closet and sometimes on his person. Takumi's hair is cut relatively short with just enough length that allows it to be styled, even though it is always let loose and messy (and sometimes sticks up slightly due to bed head). One noticeable feature that people might notice upon closer inspection would be his slender fingers and leaner wrists, along with the fact that his hands have callouses developed from playing music but still have a sense of lightness that can be seen in the unleathered hands of those whom are strangers to manual labor.

Personality:
Takumi Fujimoto is someone who really finds comfort in social harmony, and seeking to create and maintain it among the people around him is a huge driving factor in how he thinks and acts. He isn't one to enjoy partaking in gossip or any kind of talk that seeks to put people down or paint his friends in a negative light, but that doesn't mean he won't give a friend the hard truth when he feels they need it, albeit sugar coated in order to avoid hurting their feelings. It can be said that Takumi is one to put other people's needs and feelings above his own, however it can also be said that this sense of altruism is more selfish than it appears as it really stems from his original driving force of seeking social harmony.
While he is definitely an introvert, he is by no means antisocial; Takumi will sometimes need a day to himself to fully recharge his batteries, but he will often try to find the company of one or two good friends most of the time. When he is in larger social situations with plenty of people, Takumi by no means dislikes the situation on its own, but having so many people around and being bombarded by all the social stimuli can quickly burn him out and cause him to withdraw. When it comes to meeting new people, Takumi likes the conversations that can happen but he can sometimes be too shy to initiate it, especially if there is already something going on with the other person (such as being in another conversation) because he is afraid of disrupting other people's good time or coming across as rude. It is much easier for Takumi to approach new people when they are alone or with a mutual friend as that makes his approach and attempt to insert himself feel that much more organic.
With the exception of a select few activites that Takumi has either already tried and found to not enjoy or written off without trying for one reason or another (such as sky diving), Takumi is usually open to trying anything new with someone but can often be hesitant if he fears that the activity will lead to him being in a large group of people while being separated from his friend(s). If Takumi is with a group of friends and plans are being made that might end up leaving someone left out, he will try to find a way to include that person in a way that won't disrupt the plans or ruin the fun for everyone else, usually trying to talk to the other people when the individual that would be left out isn't around so as not to put pressure on everyone else or overtly guilt them into inviting that individual in a way that would make it obvious to the person that they were invited out of pity. If the plans are still in a more looser planning stage, then Takumi will definitely be more likely to just outright invite the people right away to avoid any awkwardness of skipped invitations down the road.

HISTORY
Takumi is the second child of three born to father Noriaki and mother Himawari Fujimoto. His older sister, Natsumi, is four years older than himself and currently at university, while his younger brother, Yusuke, is only two years younger than him. The Fujimoto family made its home in Karuizawa, Japan, due to his parents preference to stay away from the busy city life of Tokyo and enjoy a calmer, rural lifestyle with more nature around.
Takumi would spend much of his free time helping his father at his job, running a local cafe that he owned, and this is where he developed a love for coffee and tea. Under Noriaki's paternally driven tutelage, Takumi would often spend hours on the weekend trying different blends of coffee and the types of fancier beverages that can be made such as lattes and cappuccinos. Always the people pleaser, Takumi was also able to find great joy in connecting with the locals of his town whenever they came in to patronize the cafe as customers, and the slower pace of a rural town made for a slower pace of business at the cafe. They may not have raked in the big bucks like a massive chain, but this still allowed Takumi to really engage in meaningful conversation with anybody that came in to relax instead of just giving them a drink and moving on.
Upstairs above the family cafe was where the Fujimoto family home rested, kept in place primarily by Himawari when she wasn't also helping out with the business downstairs. Even with the family business being stable, Takumi's mother reinforced the value of a proper education and made it a point to have the children receive a higher education instead of just hoping to stick around and take over the family business. Takumi definitely could have seen himself working in the cafe into old age due to the nature of the business, and his mother saw that, so she would try to limit his time downstairs and make him spend more time studying, which Takumi obliged to due to his desire to not disappoint her.
As with many sets of siblings, Takumi was able to get along well with both Natsumi and Yusuke, although his more passive nature and desire to see others happy did lead to him being taken advantage of from time to time. This wasn't anything major but manifested in smaller things such as using his allowance to help them buy things they couldn't afford while not getting anything back in return, including reimbursement. His sister was definitely more of an introvert than he was, and had a colder demeanor and more calculated nature, which caused many of her own peers to see her as someone whom was angry. Growing up with Natsumi definitely helped Takumi gain insight when it came to people that came off as cold or angry to others, realizing that they could be just as nice or friendly as anybody else even if it didn't show. On the other end of the spectrum, Yusuke was a hyperactive social butterfly whom always became the center of attention. While Yusuke's intentions were usually coming from a good heart, it was easy for the boy to disregard the needs or problems of others in pursuit of his own fun, which definitely helped Takumi learn to see how one's actions can accidentally hurt others if one wasn't careful.
Living the slower-paced rural life usually meant his days were uneventful, but this didn't mean nothing ever happened. There was a small string of robberies happening across town over the span of a month, usually at night when most people were deep into sleep, and the police were coming up short on leads. One night, the Fujimoto family cafe was targeted by the robbers and the sounds of the break-in had woken Takumi. Acting quickly, the panicked boy got out of bed and ran downstairs with the intention of acting, but stopped just before reaching the stairs. He didn't know what he was going to do when he reached the bottom, but more importantly he didn't know what they might do to him. Despite his inaction out of fear, it seemed that the quick foot steps alerted the criminals to Takumi's awakened presence and they hurried off with whatever money the pulled from the register, but they were still never caught. The next morning, after a fit of crying to his parents over what had happened, he promised to both of them and himself that he would try to become a hero so that this wouldn't happen again.
