| Sometimes Paradise is just a bar away~ | | And so came the second to last performance of the first group of the night. With excitement high in the air in the wake of the previous events Asmodeus took back to the stage, a microphone in hand as she hummed softly. “The samurai, the legendary warrior whose roots is so deeply intertwined with Japanese culture. A master of the katana who is often said to follow an incredible complex code of honor. I’m not sure how our dearest Delta got a samurai among our performers… actually, I think he would be in troubles if he starts swinging a katana here…”
A soft laughter came from the crowd before Asmodeus resumed. “Fortunately for us, this samurai is not going to be swinging a katana tonight~ However, will his mastery over his instrument be as legendary as his skills with the blade? Let his performance be the trial, and everyone listening the judge! Please give a warm welcome to the one and only… BASSAMURAI!”
Watching Kenshin approach onto the stage she gave him an encouraging wink before making her way off the stage, curiously enough approaching Delta's direction in a beeline. Why? Because she sure as hell wanted to find out where in the world she had found an actual samurai to perform! Or maybe the name was just a joke? Possibly, but it was an excuse as any to have some fun for a bit!
Dear performer, this act is now in your hands!
- The performer will post after this introductory post, to begin their performance - From there, they will give a window for spectators to post (i.e. 48 hours) after which the performer is expected to post again! - This repeats until the performance is done! - Dear performers, please, choose a posting window that suits your own posting habits - And most importantly... Have fun!

Although Kenshin's primary weapon of choice was the sword, it was far from his only one. Just as the boy enjoyed swinging a sword, he also took great pleasure in swinging tunes on his bass guitar. Just as he had learned the art of swordsmanship from his mother, Kenshin had grown to love the bass guitar from his father. He loved both the sword and the bass. It was why his uTube channel and his stage name was Bassamurai. Speaking of Bassamurai, it was now time for his performance! Getting his gear on stage took almost no time at all. There really wasn't much for Kenshin to bring with him. Besides his bass guitar, there was just his amp and a bit of other gear. With everything already set up, Kenshin made his way on stage with bass guitar in hand as Asmodeus finished with the introduction. The boy would be lying if he said that he wasn't feeling nervous right now. Holy crap, look at all these people! This was a far larger crowd than the one at the Tokyo Park that day he met G and played some tunes with him. Doing his best to stay cool and not let even a bit of his nervousness show, Kenshin smiled at both Asmodeus and the audience as a whole as he picked up the microphone. "Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm not one for many words, so I'll let my bass do all the talking." Rather than going in with some lame tryhard speech and potentially embarrassing himself so quickly, Kenshin decided to take a more simplistic approach. Just go on and get straight to the point of why people were here to begin with. To have a fun time listening to music. Sometimes, less was more. This simplistic approach would also reflect in the songs Kenshin would play. Rather than one long jam, the boy planned to split his performance down to four short songs. Each individual song had a reason that the boy was playing it. For the first, it was simply the first bass solo his father had taught him, and the first Kenshin had mastered. Kenshin began to play his tune. After the intro, a backing music track began to play, accompanying the boy's bass playing for the rest of the song. As soon as Kenshin began to play, all of his worries were gone. It was as though the crowd simply wasn't there as he was absorbed into his own world. It made it easier to just focus on his playing and make sure that everything went smoothly. Once the first song was done, Kenshin smiled as he took a short bow. To see that he had played that song perfectly and the crowd wasn't booing him at all was immensely relieving. Alright, one song down, three more to go! Hopefully everything would go well and everyone was eager for more. Although even if everyone were to start booing and throwing rotten fruit or something, that would not be able to faze the boy. He was determined to put on a show, and there was nothing that could stop him. The fun was just getting started, after all!
There will be a 48 hour (give or take) posting window in between each song. Enjoy the show! @tagged | Word count: 536

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ She could not help but chuckle a bit with the word jokes that the hostess made, what was her name again... Asmodeus? She wasn't sure but it was not about her performance of introductions either, it was about the music people, not that she would not slip in a kind word about her friend and the other woman. But the idea of the title or stage name of bassamurai, she could understand where the jokes came from and why it was funny. She however went to sit up straighter when she noticed it was Kenshin. Another memory turned bad. With his conversation she had became focused on first aid classes and look what that brought her. She took a deep breath and simply went to sit down and stop focusing on the past and on the music she was listening to right now. She could remember a few things, how he talked about it and tha the was excited that he played bass, she could see why. It sounded really nice, a funky tone, could she say that? It was different from the love song performance and all the other performances she had seen right now, one she believed she could understand better, but that did not say much. She smiled though, which was a good thing, focused on Kenshin, eagerly wanting to hear more from the music that he enjoyed, she forgot to make notes for now, that would come later.

Ah, the good old 12-bar blues.
When he heard there was another bassist performing in the music night, Darren had no choice but to attend the performance. “Bassamurai,” he called himself, which was pretty decent as far as stage names went. The announcer described him at length as a katana wielder, a samurai and an expert of the blade. Darren couldn’t help but swing at look at Tetsuko. Impassible as the iron wall of Kashima was, the blondie was sure he’d finally catch a glimpse of pride on her features.
Anyway, it was the Bassamurai’s time to play.
He came on stage with only his bass and his amp, plugged his jack, said a few words in the microphone, leaned back, and started playing a blues turnaround in A major, kicked his looper pedal on and a backing track start accompanying the blue solo he was playing. It was a simple fingerstyle solo on a classic 12-bar. It didn’t have no tapping, no slapping and no triplets, no technical fioritures of any kind; but unlike these technically impressive but ultimately soulless metal songs where the performer seemed more interested in making love to their instrument than in making some good fucking music, it had rhythm, it had groove, it had swing; in a word, it sounded good and it put a pep in your step, like a good song was supposed to.
When the song ended, Darren stuck two fingers in his mouth and whistled loudly to show his support as a fellow bassist. That’s right nerds, bet you didn’t know bass could be a solo instrument too, and a damn groovy one. It was a bit harder to solo for him, what with being in a rock band and all, but he was more interested in the “shadow leader” aspect of playing the four-strings -- and you bet your ass he was practicing those Primus solos too… Just he was self-aware enough to know he couldn’t play no Tommy the Cat just yet.
“Next one!” he shouted out loud, waiting for -- you guessed it -- the next one.

Kenshin was feeling optimistic. He played the first song well. Now to move on to the next one and hopefully entertain the audience even more. Before doing so, however, Kenshin took a moment to glance at the crowd. Spotting Hanako, the boy gave her a brief yet warm smile. He also noticed Darren, that guy from earlier who also played bass. He grinned and gave the dude a nod of acknowledgement. And now for part two of Bassamurai's four-part bass guitar performance! There would be no transition or any words Kenshin would say before starting. As he said, his bass would do the talking. Just like the previous tune, Kenshin had a reason to play this next song. Simply put, it was the first song he had learned to cover all on his own. He was proud of the day when he showed it off to his dad. His younger brother had even joined in on the drums, although the kid didn't really know how to play them very well back then. As Kenshin began to play, some of the people in the crowd recognized the song he was playing. A few fans of the band were even singing some of the lyrics as Kenshin played. Were the boy actually confident in his singing skills, he may have sung along too. But for now, all he would do is play and strum. Just like last time, the boy was immersed in his playing, totally relaxed and calm. He was still a bit nervous, but not very much to the point where it would be easily noticed. Although occasionally glancing at his bass strings as he played to make sure he did not screw up, Kenshin was for the most part able to play without having to look at the strings or his fingers. Just like last time, once the song was finished and he was met with a round of applause from the audience, Kenshin smiled and bowed. He was halfway done with his performance, and without a major screw up on his part! Only two songs to go, and Kenshin was eager for the next one. In his opinion, it would be the best song he would play, assuming he did not mess it up. That was how the boy wanted to structure his performance. First, an appetizer in the form of the first two songs. Then the main course. And finally, the dessert to wrap things up. Overall, Kenshin was feeling pretty excited. He hoped everyone listening was having a great time as well. @tagged | Word count: 426

With the second song done, it was time to move on to the penultimate song of his performance. Kenshin was looking forward to this part the most. This next song was one the boy fondly remembered playing back at Tokyo Park that day. He still could not believe it was over seven months ago. It was the day he had first met and befriended two awesome people. G, Kumoko, this next one I dedicate to the both of you, Kenshin thought to himself. Stay awesome, my friends! As Kenshin begun to play the song, he began to think about those two. It was a shame that Kumoko could not make it to music night (whether it was because she really was busy or she was just scared to show up in a place with so many people, the boy was not sure), although it did warm the boy's heart when she promised him that she would listen to his performance and loudly cheer him on from her home. Then there was G. Kenshin was not a hundred percent sure, but he thought he caught a glimpse of the man earlier. Well if he was here, then Kenshin hoped that he was enjoying the song that the two had once played together back in that park. And if he wasn't here, then he was probably busy with something important. Either way, Kenshin hoped that G was doing fine. Just like with the previous song, there were some people in the crowd who instantly recognized the song, with a few even singing the lyrics. Kenshin smiled. With how long it took him to learn to play this song and get it down perfectly, it made him happy to see that people were enjoying listening to him play it. It felt so rewarding to see that all those months of practice paid off. Once the boy was finished playing, he bowed as the applause from the crowd came in. "Thank you!" With part three of Bassamurai's performance done, there was just one song left to play. Kenshin already had an idea of just how to wrap up his performance and open the way to the next act. @tagged | Word count: 364

And now it was time for this performance's finale! Kenshin had done his best up until now, and he had no intention of losing steam! It was time for Bassamurai's fourth and final song, and the boy knew just how to wrap this one up. Kenshin smiled and began to play. And what better way to end his performance to make way for the final act of the first half of Music Night than a cover of The Final Countdown? As soon as he started playing, it did not take long for people to recognize the tune. Some cheered, others couldn't help but start singing the lyrics, and a few even did both. Unfortunately, no matter how much Kenshin wanted to, he just did not have the time to play the full song. He only had so much time to play, and he did not want to hold up the other performances any longer than necessary. Settling for an abridged cover, some of the audience did not expect the boy to stop playing so soon. Still, just like with his other songs, there was a warm round of applause. Kenshin smiled and bowed. "Thank you! Hope you all had a good time! Good night!" And with a raised fist to the air and an extension of his index finger and pinky to make the metal sign, Kenshin's performance had reached its conclusion. Grabbing his bass and gear, Kenshin walked off the stage to make room for the next act. Holy shit, that was insane! Going backstage, Kenshin sighed a huge breath of relief. It was all over now. It was nerve wracking for sure! But it was also a hell of a fun time! The boy was glad he got to perform. Now to go join the audience and listen to the next act. *exit*@tagged | Word count: 304
