Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
It was a beautiful evening. The night sky was mostly clear and a lovely full moon served as the main illumination in this rather dreary corner of alleyways in the streets of Nakano. Somewhere up ahead was a casually dressed youth who was running away in panic, occasionally bumping into things and knocking down trash cans, yelping in pain when he hit something he shouldn't have or stubbed his toe. It was music to the young maiden's ears. As for where the dark haired vixen was watching all this from, well, she was a little high up above the ground suspended between the walls with the aid of her tails. Tonight she had donned the mask and was on a hunt. The narrow gaps between the buildings meant that there were plenty of places for her tails to grab on and allow her to navigate the alleys that way unobstructed. The prey was a young gentleman who thought that it would be easy to infiltrate the family to pass on information to the Union. Did he really not think that he would be suspected? The family was quite shrewd and he was very naive. Among the three factions in Nakano, in her opinion the Union possessed the most members who didn't have as much resolve as they they thought and were simply carried along by ideals. And that made them the best targets. "Fufu."She couldn't help but giggle to herself. The boy was already self-destructing. She could only presume that he was someone who wasn't from around here and was simply swept along by the conflict. Well, that wasn't her problem. The family was harsh but the Union was unkind in its own way. Fatigue had caught up with her prey. Gasping and panting, he took cover behind a dumpster, completely unaware that his hunter had been watching his every move and was barely moving herself, conserving her energy. Meanwhile he was battered, injured and tired - all things he brought upon himself without anyone else doing anything. It was time to pop his bubble of hope. Quietly moving between the structures, she quickly closed in the distance thanks to being able to navigate a shorter and more direct route. As her shadow loomed above him causing him to frantically look up, she dropped down from her position. One of her tails first restrained his mouth to prevent him from screaming. Two more then went on restrain his arms and then break his ankles, causing him to wince in pain. "Shh, I won't kill you. I'm not supposed to. But I can't have you running away now can I?"She took this opportunity to have a good look at his face, expecting an expression of terror. To her surprise however, the young man's eyes though still teary from the pain, were instead darting around as though he was looking for something. Or someone. Suddenly she heard a noise behind her but she pretended not to notice. Her six remaining free tails appeared to be at ease but were actually on alert and ready to intercept if someone tried to attack from the shadows. The fur on her tails glistened in the moonlight, gently waving as she continued to act like she was too preoccupied with intimidating her freshly caught prey to take notice of her surroundings.

Luzia couldn't have anything less than a grin on her face; she was filled to the brim with energy... no, no, she was overflowing with it! So much energy! She ran through the sidewalks, grinning ear-to-ear, looking around, just looking, admiring how amazing Nakano was! The sky was absolutely black, and that made the lights so much prettier!
The lights... the streetlights, the store windows, the car lights! So many lights! Shining, beaming, bright-ing against the darkness! It was beautiful! There were so many colors, too! Most of it was white, sure... but even the white was really pretty! It shone so brightly, with the top, bottoms, and sides piercing away in that special way that light did its thing! The city was so bright tonight, and she was living for it!
The night was so pretty, the lights and the night making each other so pretty... and the smells! Ah, she didn't know Nakano as well as the rest of the city, but really, was it any different when you broke it down? Still though, there were new smells, new sounds, a different taste in the air...!
"Oof!"
Luzia was knocked out of her thoughts when someone - some asshole - knocked into her shoulder. She hissed softly when she was nearly spun like a top, grabbing her shoulder and whirling to glare at... no one. Whoever they were, they were already gone, back into the crowd. For a moment, she scowled, sneering softly, but she fixed her shirt and moved on, leaving the incident behind her.
For a few long minutes, she walked, long enough for her to break away from a bit of the crowd, but long enough for her high to be far from gone. She had no idea where she was, but she didn't care, she didn't even think to wonder, all she knew, all she cared about, was that the city, the oh-so-famous Nakano district, was just fucking beautiful.
Luzia spun, twirled, and giggled, but she stopped when she heard groaning. She blinked in surprise, turning her head down an alleyway. All she saw was darkness... but she heard whispering. In another state of mind, she probably would have moved along, but she went in, curiosity pulling her. Her eyes quickly adjusted to the dark - her eyes more used to the quick changes of light and dark than many - and the first thing she saw was a girl standing over a guy, and she instantly ducked behind a palette.
Again, she grinned. She seems to have found herself a couple of lovers~. Should she leave them alone to their fun? ...Or... maybe just stick around... and listen?
That second idea sounded a lot better~.

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
Of course she was a little disappointed. Or perhaps it was better to say she had mixed feelings. The idea of breaking someone so defiant was appealing but at the same time the uncertainty that he had allies lurking around was distracting. What would it take to draw them out though? Pondering this, she released her hold on her target who immediately tried to crawl away desperately but was just too injured to make any sort of getaway by himself possible. As if to prove the point, Otome was just casually walking beside him the entire time. "What's the point of tiring yourself out? Relax and take a break."She chuckled as she walked, noticing that the young man was desperately crawling towards the spot where she heard the sound from earlier. Was there an ambush being set up there? If so it was kind of terrible. The injured guy was practically telegraphing it with his actions. It must be displeasing to be the ally of someone so incapable. Ideals alone weren't enough to get one far. "This is taking too long..."She picked him up again with one of her tails and flung him at the corner where he was trying to go. Perhaps it was out of surprise that the young man's body came flying right at them and it was dark. As Otome expected, someone was indeed lurking there just out of sight and as the young man flew in front them, a metal bat was swung down right at him, causing him to groan in agony. The one responsible finally stepped out of the shadows, confused and outraged at what just occurred, metal bat in hand. He was a much bigger and older man. Probably a hired muscle of the group. Though from how he swung his bat like that, he was just another ordinary man. She chuckled at his mistake. "Oops. I heard that the Union was just a glorified neighborhood watch. But this is just sad."The mocking tone in her voice was evident. It seemed she was worrying over nothing. If it was just these two fools up and about tonight then she didn't even need to wait for any back up. Perhaps they weren't expecting that they had to deal with a quirker like her. The difference of competence between the two groups they supported was staggering. "So, here I am. Why don't you try taking a swing at me too?"Her tone was in jest but her tails hovered behind her menacingly.

Luzia had to cover her mouth to keep herself from giggling. It was dirty, it was invasive, but it was fun; it was naughty, but there was no way that she would miss this pretty lady getting her world rocked! She was getting excited just thinking about it, all the sighs and the moans... and the guy was being so cute, he was playing hard to get, crawling away like he wanted to get away! Of course, he so didn't; who would? It was dark in the alley, but Luzia could see how pretty swhe was... hell, she'd give her a shot!
She was still hiding behind a few inventory palettes, peeking around the corner to watch the show. That show suddenly shifted, though, making her blink in confusion. The pretty lady grabbed the man and threw him with one of her tails, but then... the guy was hit in the head with a bat. Luzia watched as several other people came out from behind things, and all of them were holding weapons. Luzia blinked, fingers curling on the edge of the palettes.
This wasn't fun, was it?
"Oops. I heard that the Union was just a glorified neighborhood watch. But this is just sad."
Luzia gasped softly, and without even meaning to, she accidentally spoke, the words slipping out of her mouth, "Wait, what?" She remembered that word... Union... her boss said that word... wasn't she supposed to look for these people? And beat them up or something? She still wasn't sure why, but her boss wanted her to take care of Union people. Why, even? She didn't know them, they didn't know her, she didn't really feel the need to fight them... but... she was supposed to... Niso would probably like it if she did....
But still, Luzia didn't move, biting her lip as a subtle nervousness creeped at her addled mind. It went against every single one of her instincts to intervene even slightly, but that battled with her concious mind, her newfound... 'responsibility' to butt her head in. Every part of her body told her to turn away, run, run away from the fight, or else she could get hurt. But... something else inside of her told her it would be okay. It was a fake confidence, but she could feel it push down her instincts, step on them and tell her that she could do it. Could she...?
Luzia took a deep breath, steeling herself, letting the confidence fill her up. It was an incredible feeling, one she always relished... she was still scared, somewhere inside of her, holding back her glee, but she could still feel herself able to do something. She narrowed her eyes, forcing a smile on her face, neon already leaking out of her as she stepped out into view. It leaked out from the pores on her face, forming into a simple mask, a simple line crawling around her eyes and some of her cheeks, clinging to her skin with a very bright red color. "HEY!!"
Pink flowed around her arm, with touches of red and white, focusing towards her hand as she put it into a gun shape, and fired a bolt of neon light right between two of the kitsune's tails, shooting clean through the chest of the one with the bat, the long bolt making his blood splatter out like a bullet. Luzia smirked, still nervous, still not entirely into this idea, but still feeling like she could handle it. She wasn't sure what she should do, though; was that enough? Was she supposed to announce herself, say something funny? All she really knew was that she was supposed to do something here, and so she was.

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
This was fun. Egging on an obviously weaker target was just the kind of stress reliever that she was looking for when taking on these types of jobs. But it seemed the big guy wasn't exactly alone himself. A few others would make their presence known now that the jig was up on their little ambush. None of them looked too happy but seemed to think they'd stand a chance against the lone Otome with their numbers. Location, location, location. If they thought a narrow cramped up alleyway was a good place for an ambush with a big group, then Otome felt sorry for whoever hired the man who thought of this plan. Well they could still be hiding some trump card so she would be on the lookout for any suspicious movements they made. As she prepared to make her move however, the surprise would come not from the front but from behind. For a brief moment she tensed up wondering if she had been caught in a pincer of sorts. But the attack would harmlessly fly past the gaps of her tails and pierce through the chest of the man with the bat, dropping him on the spot. A misfire? Or an unexpected friend? In the confusion of yet another one of theirs going down, Otome took this chance to turn around and have a good look at where the attack came from. There stood a woman she had never seen before donning a mask just like her. Otome frowned, though it wouldn't be seen thanks to her mask. This woman was dangerous. That much could be said. But even though it seemed like she helped at first glance, it was hard to say if she was really an ally or not. At the very least Otome had not heard about it and so this made her wary. The distraction bought the Union thugs just enough time to regroup and find their bearings. Seeing two powerful quirkers as their opponents was enough to convince them they were no match and so they decided to pick up their fallen comrades and run. That was bad however. Though the youth from earlier was intentionally drawn in to out himself as an informant, the family still risked some legitimate information as bait that could be used by the Union. Letting them get away was not an option. "Are you with the family as well? You should have stayed hidden. Now that they decided to run instead of fight it's going to be a pain to catch all of them..."Otome spoke loud enough for the woman to hear while also raising her tails on alert in case she was an enemy after all. The vixen would merely wait a moment for her response before rushing in pursuit of the escaping prey. All was not lost yet. If she played her cards right then she should be able to head them off before they could get to Union territory. At the very least she needed to recover the boy if nothing else.

Luzia was wide-eyed, gasping softly; the shot went right through the girl's tails and through the guy's chest! She was surprised, but at the same time, she couldn't help but grin, feeling proud of herself. She ran out from her cover, almost not noticing the men running as she ran to her, yelling as she did, "Boy, it's a good thing I didn't hit you!" She stopped next to her, grinning, "I'm still not a good shot!"
She blinked as the girl spoke, tilting her head, "Huh? Family? I don't have one." In her state of mind, she didn't have the chance for her mood to dip from mentioning that bit about her, in fact, she spoke it very plainly and simply, not even realizing how literal she was thinking. She looked over her shoulder, then past the girl, smiling up at her. "But... you want to get them? I can help!" She closed her eyes in a very wide smile, a thin, pink mist seeping out of her shoulders, beaming with even more pride, the feeling of helping welling up inside of her and making her mood even higher.
Just as the girl ran, so did she, going the other way. A stream of light followed her, pink, smooth bends in its path following as she ran along the sidewalk. The people she had to chase down only had so far to run, and she knew exactly the direction they were going, and she was fast, real fast; in almost the time it took her to take another breath, she had caught up to them, whirling around them three times, surrounding them in light, confusing them before rushing them, using the very same light as a blade to cut their legs.
She grinned wide, standing over them, watching them bleed for a moment before looking back, throwing her hand up, calling out to the woman that she was helping. "Hey! I caught them! What do you want me to do with them?"

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
It was yet another puzzling moment. No family? Otome wasn't expecting that kind of response. If they were in Nakano then it should have been obvious who she was referring to. Either this newcomer was playing dumb or she had quite the weirdo on her hands. At the very least it didn't seem like the woman was on the Union's side. But she didn't really have time to chat and figure this all out. Much to her surprise as she turned to give chase to her quarry, the masked woman suddenly said something unexpected yet again. She was going to help? Why exactly? But like earlier there wasn't a moment to spare to discuss. Though this time it wasn't Otome's fault. The woman literally zoomed past her at frightening speed, catching up to the group in no time. From a distance Otome watched as the stranger made short work of Union thugs, leaving nothing for the the fox girl to do when she finally caught up. She honestly wasn't sure if she should be angry or embarrassed. This may have been a hobby but she had her pride too and it pretty much felt like her job just got stolen. And yet as much as she didn't want to admit it, the results were satisfactory, minus the fact that she didn't get to do anything. What's worse was that the woman who did it did so rather effortlessly as far as she could tell, even going on to ask her what she wanted to do with them. Otome sighed as she approached, taking a sweeping look at the downed thugs. With their legs heavily injured, they weren't going anywhere. Some of them were even too scared to move after realizing what happened. "Nothing. You don't need to do anything more. This is plenty really. Honestly, this was supposed to be my job. Who are you anyway?"There was a reluctance to offer any thanks. Otome didn't believe in mysterious helpers with unknown backgrounds. She wasn't about to show appreciation to someone whom she wasn't even sure if they were friend or foe. Still on alert, with her free hand she would hastily send a message to her Inagwaro contacts to send a clean-up crew to her location. They would take care of rounding up the Union members and securing them. Hopefully by the time they arrived she would have settled things with the masked woman.

She stood, rolling on the balls of her feet as the fox lady came up, ignoring the groans and the rolling of the people she attacked. Well, not fully ignore; she did look down at them, but she smiled at them, the same sort of smile that she might have if she caught a ball, or looked at some sweets through a store window. It felt good to do something for someone, and even do it well, and she wasn't really thinking about how fun it was to hurt someone; she was just happy that she could help.
Luzia looked back at the other girl as she came, blinking and frowning a little as she said she didn't need more help. Her first thought was that she did something bad, maybe even overstepped somewhere... no, no, that was crazy! She did a good job, she helped this girl! Looking at the positives, feeling a good feeling in her tummy for helping someone, she smiled even wider as she asked who she was. "Oh, I'm Lu-!" She almost said, but stopped, blinking, remembering at the last second that giving out her real name wasn't a good idea. But what other name did she have? She wasn't Pinapple like Niso, or Oracle like Kyoko.... "Oh!" Luzia smiled again, pulling her finger away from her lip as she figured out what she could say.
"I'm the Painter!"
Forgetting how popular that name could be in some circles, Luzia looked down at the people around her feet. She locked her eyes on someone that was trying to crawl away, walking over to the boy and kicking him in the face, distracting him with pain before flipping her hair over her shoulder and looking back at the kitsune girl. "Do you need any help with these guys? Are you gonna drag them somewhere or something?"

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
The Painter? Where did she hear that name before? It was familiar but at the same time Otome wasn't really one to keep track of all the villains in the business. She assumed this woman was a villain because her methods were nothing like what a hero or even vigilante would use. Well she didn't know many vigilantes. Maybe some of them were this harsh too. But that was a bit of a stretch. Really, if this Painter wasn't a villain, she would bite her own tail. She was that certain at least. But just because they were a villain didn't mean they were on the same side. Even if she wasn't with the Union or the police, she could easily be from a third part from outside. Otome had only been in their employ for a short while but even she could tell that this was the type of organization that made a lot of enemies both on the right and wrong side of the law. In any case being roundabout wasn't going to get her anywhere it seemed. She would just have to speak straightforwardly. The family goons were on the way so if the worst happened, she'd had something to fall back on. "I see. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the name, but I guess it's only polite to introduce myself as well. I go by Megitsune. For the time being, I'm in the employ of the Inagwaro Family, rounding people like these ones from the Railway Union."She indicated to the injured men on the ground. Her tone was all professional-like and neutral. Though she couldn't quite agree with the interference, she also didn't want to start a fight unnecessarily. If she wasn't clear with what she was up to earlier, then she pretty much spelled out everything now. Hopefully this Painter was not going to be a problem.

Luzia just stood there, staring, her excited mind completely oblivious to the fact she was being studied; her mind was too active, jumping between the gorgeous silver tails of this lady, which she swore caught the light in a way that almost made them sparkle, to the contrasting total blackness of her hair... it was like it provided a backdrop, making the sparkling even more obvious! Her white mask contrasted even more with her amazingly black hair, making it even more noticeable. Luzia really wanted to paint this girl, and she was working to memorize the look of her.
Her smile finally faded when the girl completely skipped over her question... did she do something wrong? She was trying to help, that's what she was supposed to do, right...? She visibly deflated, tilting her head. "Inagawaro, huh...?" Why did that name sound familiar...? She gasped, tapping her fist against a hand, and all of a sudden she was smiling again like she wasn't depressed just a second ago. "Oh yeah! Oracle said we were helping them out so we could get more influence!" Luzia grinned again, giggling and spinning. "That's great! Then that means we're on the same side! We can be friends and everything!" She gasped again, more dramatically this time, and ran up to Megitsune. "Does that mean I can paint you?! I bet I can make something really pretty from you! But I can do scary if you want that instead!"

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
Otome had ignored it on purpose. In fact she was half wondering if the so-called Painter would ask a third time. She felt that she had made herself clear from the start. This was her job and any further assistance was unnecessary. So it caught her a bit off guard to hear that they were apparently on the same side. The woman worked for someone called Oracle and they were helping the family to get some influence. Well Otome wasn't familiar with any Oracle either, but she had heard that a few groups were working for the family for precisely that. The Painter's story checked out in that regard at least. "I feel as though you should have said that from the start..."She sighed and shrugged. She didn't like it when people were too roundabout and not straightforward. Well she was a bit of a hypocrite in that regard. Typically she would be unaware of herself when she ended up doing the same. In this case she also only just introduced herself. It didn't register that some people might not understand when she referred to her employers as simply the "family" but that was because she assumed everyone knew that. She would continue to believe that she was faultless here. She got a second surprise in the form of the Painter suddenly running up to her, causing Otome to once again be on guard. She was not used to villains being so open and happy? To be fair she had not met many villains personally but Painter was the most expressive one yet. True to her name, the woman offered to paint Otome. She found the phrasing a bit odd but everything about the woman had been odd from the start so she let it go. There was less and less reasons to be tense if they were on the same side. "Paint me? Is that a hobby of yours? Well, I suppose I don't particularly mind. Once the family's cleaners pick up these people I should have some free time."It was her last job for the evening and she wasn't in a hurry to go home. In all honesty it was being told that the woman could make a pretty painting of her that piqued her interest. Her narcissistic side was winning here and influencing her decisions. It was a weakness she would never admit but she had a soft spot for being complimented for her looks. "I don't know about being friends but we can start as acquaintances. I'm curious if you really live up to your name and paint as pretty as you say."
