feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma sat in his apartment and looked at the two boxes on the floor. The one on his left was a beat-up old wooden trunk. Inside sat memories some painful, some good. He flipped it open and started nostalgically inside. It was his old suit. The one he bought and customized himself. The helmet was scratched up and the faceplate cracked into plastic cobwebs. The suit itself had been sewn back together a few times, the leather patched up as best as it could be.
He kept the box open but pushed it aside. Replacing its position with a sleek black box. The kind that they use in movies to hold important technology and weapons. This box didn't have a latch, instead, there was a fingerprint scanner, part of the gift from the heroes association. Putting his finger on the scanner there was a pneumatic his as the crate opened to reveal his new self. It wasn't just a new suit. It was the new him. The official him. Inside, neatly folded and packed away with care, sat the soon to be Hero Vega.
The new suit was more than he could have ever had before. It was a marvel of quirk engineering. Not only did the helmet and leather keep him disguised, but it also channeled his quirk. It let him fly.
He pulled the new hotness out of the box and held it up. Not a lot had changed. While the craftsmanship had taken a big upturn the motif stayed pretty similar. Black leather with yellow accents designed and fitted for his body. There were two big changes however, the logo on the chest, the boots, and the gauntlets.
He slowly put on the suit and checked that everything was working. There was a soft whiiirrrrr as he flicked the little switch near the wrist of the left gauntlet. He felt the mechanism inside the suit start to try and pull form him, so he gave it a little juice from his quirk. Turbine like irises on the palms of the gloved and soles of his boots flicked on and off, showing that the regulators were working like the company said they would.
As he lifted up the helmet and turned it over he stared at the new symbol. No longer a Hawk flying over the setting sun. Emblazoned on the sides of the helmet and really on his chest was a shooting star. The new symbol of who he was.
“Vega…” he whispered to himself as his phone buzzed. It was G. This was probably the fifth or sixth text in the past two months that he had ignored. The irony didn't escape him that the first time they met he was trying out a new suit just like now. He felt the clutch of guilt for a moment and gave in.
“Meet you at the hideout.” He lacked away at the keys and sent the first message. “We do need to talk.” He stuffed the phone back into his pocket and looked back at his old suit one more time. When he got back he knew he needed to hide it somewhere. That's what he was planning to do at least before nostalgia got the better of him again. Just before climbing up to the roof he stuffed the old suit and helmet into a black duffle bag and slung it over his shoulder.
Upon the roof, he stood at the edge of his apartment building and couldn't help but let slip a smile behind his mirrored mask. He felt a surge of adrenaline as he leaped off into the night, falling for just a moment before letting the suit do its thing. Like a star catching itself before falling the suit took his power and surged it into his extremities, pumping out power like the turbines of a jet and sending him flying through the sky and toward his destination.

THE BOSS IS HERE
❝ G was a bit irritated at Toma becase well, they never got to hang out. Any attempt of reaching Toma just fell on deaf ears. He was the only Storm Knight G hasnt properly hung out with. He was good with Kenshin and even got to know better Yuri. But Toma?? Aside from fighting crime, G knew nothing about him. AND HE WAS THE FIRST STORM KNIGHT HE MET!!! smh dude. smh. One time G remembered his old quest. Becoming a Pro Hero... maybe. It was a request Haruuhi made and then promptly withdrew after the kidnapping, poor girl probably lost faith in heroes after Vigilantes +1 Hero came to save her. Just one. SMH. Still G wanted to honour Haruuhi's wish even if she still didnt want it. He spoke to Nimue the UA school nurse and learned how to become a Pro. The pretty lil lady was even willing to vouch for him. G had a gateway to Hero-dom. Although, he wasnt gonna do that just yet. He wanted to see what others would say, so G had a lil mental poll. His family, Storm Knights and his students. His family shockingly voted for Vigilantism. That immediately left the score 3-0. G then asked Yuri, who of course favured Vigilantism which lef the score 4-0. Kenshn though didnt give an answer. Once again smh. Then G finally saw Toma online and asked him the same question. G going for Pro, yes or no. But Toma... boi acted as he saw a ghost, he was all weird and logged off. Once again, G shook his head. SMH And thus after some undisclosed amount of time. G got a message from Toma that G has to meet at the hideout and that they need to talk. G sighed at Toma's weirdness... or maybe not weirdness who knows. He went to the hideout to see what was up MADE BY MINNIE OF FTS & GS |

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | The flight was short, but by the time Toma made it to the hideout G was already there. Walking into the storage building he took his helmet off and shut the door. He had a lot to talk about and didn't want the helmet getting in the way.
"What's up to G?" He set his helmet down on the best up a card table and started rifling through the fridge. He had hoped there would be a beer, or maybe a can of coffee, but the fridge was completely empty. That showed just how much he had been here lately.
"I know it's been a while since I've been around." He she shut the fridge and spun around to let his back against it. "And I'm sorry about that. I know I asked you guys to join me and I should have probably been a little more open with you. The truth is I might have to leave the Storm Knights."
He reached into his suit and fished around for his smokes, but he couldn't find them. "I've been approached by the government and they want me to take a test to become a licensed Hero."
"That means that I would have to arrest you guys if they found out about you." He sighed and lightly kicked his heel against the fridge door. "I think I might accept the offer. It's the best way I can achieve my end goals and help society."

Well well, the man finally graced G with his presence. And the most he could say is 'whats up'? smh, he set down his helmet and went to the fridge which was empty
"Yeah, I had the last one yesterday. Which by the way, I bought" he said.
Toma said that he knew it's been a while since he was around. And that was the understatement of the year. But the news he then told G, shook the gangsta vigilante. He wants to leave the Storm Knights?? Why?? But then he said he was approached by the goverment and might become a Pro Hero. But then the final part was incredibly insulting to G. Arresting him? Well, G got immediatelly alianated from Toma.
"Tch, I know we were or are partners or whatever. But just because we are whatever we are, doesnt mean I'll let you arrest me." he was serious with his words and his tone "Try to arrest me and I will end you", after which he relaxed and sounded less intimidating "And in regards to your situation. I have a similar situation on hand. While the goverment didnt ask me to join their forces and become a Pro. I did in a way get a guarantee to get a recommondation from a Pro to become one of em. Though, I didnt start the process of converting because, unlike you I am weighing my options. Asking family, students and fellow Storm Knights on what to do. Become a Pro Hero or remain a Vigilante. My shocking tally was 4 to nil. My family voted for Vigilantism and so did Yuri. Ok, I saw Yuri saying Vigilantism, but my family was.... unexpected. I still need to ask you and Red. Though, I assume you'll vote for me becoming a Pro." he sighed "Im not stopping you. Go on and become whatever you want. Just... if you do... the way you went about it was a bit dickish. Though if you ever stopped by to talk to me maybe I'd understand you. Whatever"
G wasnt on fence to becoming a Pro as Yuri was. What did bother him was just... Toma not being here for the team that HE created. And then just arriving saying that he wants to go for Pro without hearing his team and consulting with them. What insulted him that Toma would go on and arrest them. G would never do that, even if G was a Pro Hero, he'd still be buddies with the Storm Knights and consider himself still a member of the team. Hell, he'd be like their 'spy' that shows the things on the flipside with the law and wahetever and help their mission. Toma seems he wants to go lone wolf and betray his friends with .... nah... not friends... He never got to know them. |

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "Listen, man, it's not like that." He twisted his face into a grimace and rubbed his temples. "I'd love to stay in the group. But I've always worked on the side. Like with that red-headed girl Thunder took."
He looked G in the eyes and gave a cheeky smile. He'd never told G he had followed him. He had never told G he had distracted the archer to save him.
"When you went one-man wrecking ball and charged into Thunders base, you weren't alone…" Maybe he should have been more open with the group, maybe he should have been a little closer. "I followed you. I snuck into the top floor and distracted one of thunders men. If I hadn't you would have had more quills than a porcupine."
Taking a seat at the card table he was surprised to find a crumpled pack of cigarettes with a lone, if not bent, smoke. With a little juice from his power, he lit the tip and inhaled deeply. He was such a fuckup. Not only had he failed his family, not only had he been AWOL for Haku and his kid, but he couldn't even hold a simple plan together.
"I would like to stay with the group though. We all still have the same end goal. My only concern and the force behind my arrest comment is the way we go about it." He casually flipped the lit smoke between his finger, like juggling a quarter, before asking into an old beer can on the table. "You might be willing to do things cleanly, and he Kenshin too, but Yuri is a wild card. She isn't a hero like us. She isn't in this to be better and help people. And she's a bad influence on the two of you."
"If I can find a way to keep the group together and do things the right way, I will. And maybe you could join me? We could form some sort of agency, pull other punks off the street and give them a place to use their power for good. Make sure kids like Kenshin don't turn out like my brother."

G raised his brow as Toma spoke and gave G a cheeky smile. Basically what Toma said was that when G busted in that warehouse to save Haruuhi, Toma was there and fought someone, if not that something bad would've happen. But truth be told, G sort of suspected Toma would be there since he sorta saw Yuri and Kenshin there. "You know.... I sorta figured you were there. I saw the other 2 Storm Knights, I figured you came to. But erm.... thanks?" G said, though he got mildly confused at the end because he had no idea what to say in regards to that event.
After that they returned to the main topic at hand, Toma becoming a Pro Hero. He says he'd like to stay with the group since they have the same goal. He says G and Kenshin might do things cleanly, but Yuri is a wild card, not being a hero, she is a bad influence to G. Which hearing that almost made G burst out laughing. G did his best to hold his laugh, instead he crossed his arms and listened to Toma saying if he finds a way, he'd keep the group together AND be a Pro Hero. And even offered G to join him and make some agency. G wasnt gonna do that without getting opinions, which is Kenshin, Eli, Chise, Akio. G figured Toma is the vote for Pro Hero. The tally is 4-1. If those other guys vote for Pro Hero. Then yes, G will become a Pro Hero.
But thats later, now he asks
"How the hell is Yuri influencing me badly?" G asked as he was... in disbelief. There was no way Yuri influenced him badly

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "Yuri wants to kill people G." He gave him this dumbfounded look like he couldn't understand how that was a bad influence. "I don't know your past, but I can make assumptions G. I can assume you used to do bad stuff and are trying to make up for that and be better, but Yuri isn't really in this for better."
He took a puff off his smoke and rubbed his eyes with his free hand. He felt like he was about to get a headache. He had always assumed G was a bad dude in the past, but Toma liked the idea of second chances. During the first meeting of the group both G and Yuri's answer for Thunder was to kill him, and that had concerned him. At least Kenshin had seemed more reserved.
"If you want to be a better person, for whatever reason, or do good you can't just kill people. No matter the circumstance." That's how he had always felt about it. Villains kill, Vigilantes and Hero's do better. "That's the line between good and bad here. Killing isn't something I can be on board with. That's what they would do, that's something a villain does not a hero."

Toma spoke how Yuri wants to kill people, and well... that was just false
"Dude, I used to be a Villain, and if there's anyone who helped me stopped killing people its Yuri... Well... she did it indirectly. But I got a new squeaky clean identity that made me totally turn over a new leaf. But thats not the convo here. Yuri doesnt wanna kill people. She wants to just kill ThunderShock and thats that, she thinks thats the best way to get rid of a filthy rich villain who can just buy his way out. I'd say she is reasonable with her thinking process." he said, but went on to further clarify "But dont think I'll do it. Things changed since our first meeting. My only concern with Yuri is that she'll just be a normal civillian once we get Thunder"
Toma took a puff off his smoke and rubbed his eyes with his free hand, G meanwhile backed away from Toma and his smoke since G was a non smoker and he didnt wanna inhale that shit. Toma then spoke that if you wanna be a good person, you just cant kill no matter what. And G thought he sounded like Miku there. That was something she'd say. G scratched his head "Ok, then how about coma or cripple him? Its non lethal and its permanent?" G blurted out. It wasnt something he was gonna enact, just a random thought that came to mind. He felt he wanted to say something else to Toma, but just couldnt find any words. |

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | "I guess that's better than killing someone." He sighed and stubbed his smoke out in the ashtray. The fact that they needed to use violence to stop violence always bothered Toma. While he knew you couldn't passively resist people like thunder, cause they would just kill you, meting out justice through pain and torture still seemed wrong. Toma had felt horrible for weeks, and still kind of did now after they interrogated G's ex.
"I don't know man. Maybe this new license is going to my head. Some sense of self-righteousness or something. But I feel like we can't meet pain with pain." He leaned back in his seat so the front legs hovered just above the cold concrete. "But I guess that's something the government judges for me now. I don't really get to make my own calls like that anymore." He did find the irony in the new craze of legal Heroes but it seemed like the only logical solution anymore.
"I can't really judge you though G." He clacked back down to the ground with a hollow thud as he let the chair legs fall back to the ground. "I've hurt a lot of people too. But I think you should try and be a little less violent. If the government finds out about you beating people within an inch of their lives they will come for you like any other criminal, and I don't want you to go down like that."

G was so annoyed by Toma's uppity goody two shoes behaviour. That Pro Hero licence was really poisoning his mind. "Bah! If I was a Pro, I'd still do things my way. If I went on like the Pros, I'd be just another schmuck! Considering the goverment thinks Im number 1 in my Vigilante field, I'll take that as a 'dont change' kind of message. I stop crime and I stop crime good. I got mah beliefs and I aint changing them" G explained
He wasnt gonna be a goverment puppet if he became a Pro, which was really a shame as to how Toma just became one. A puppet and they got their hands so far up his rear that he was spewing bullshit. Luckily for Toma, G was a more tolerable man.
Now Toma spoke how he cant judge G. He spoke how he heart plenty o' people. But, he then tells G to be a lil less violent. Something about beating people within an inch of their life. Which made G burst out laughing. It was a long and hearty laugh. After that, he wiped a tear from his eye
"Bruh. That was funny" he then regained his composure fully "Puh-lease. Me? Beating someone within in an inch of their life?! I havent done that in ages. Like, it was maybe a year ago last I did that. If anything, I went super uber soft. Im gonna have a family. I know I need to watch myself and how I do things. Although, I wont lie to you that I really do miss hurting people. I've learned how to stop on time and how not to brutalize people. But, I gotta tell you. Once you were a Villain. It just never leaves you. There is no off switch. Its an instict that has to be repressed." G briefly explains, but cuts his explanation short as he didnt wanna get into his villainy, that wasnt a subject

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Tom's shrugged and stood up from his chair. The cheap metal scraped across the cold concert as it slid back slightly. He didn't know if this went well or not, but it sure went. He couldn't be part of the crew anymore, he knew that, but he felt bad leaving them. They probably wouldn't have a lot of direction for a while, he knew that Yuri wouldn't stick around, not that she cared that Toma left but that her participation was loose from the beginning.
"Well. Your gonna have a hard time with the crew now boss. You're going to need to recruit new blood and you'll probably need a place to stay." He held out a hand and pointed around the hideout. "Feel free to keep using this place. It's secure and the only person other than you guys who know about the place is me. My families business is now defunct so technically an.." He made quotation marks with his fingers in the air as he emphasized the next word "America named John MacDonald is listed as the owner of the two buildings so no one should really interfere with your operations."
He pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket and started to scribble out the usernames and passwords for the various security systems he had set up with the old computer. "Here's everything you need to access and use that old computer and the cameras." He held the note out to G and waited to see what he would say.

G crossed his arms and was real annoyed by Toma. Well yeah, G was gonna take over the place and run it. And of course he was gonna be a Boss, but he didnt need Toma's back sass. Though he did say some interesting suff.
He also pulled a slip of paper out of his pocket and started to scribble something and then said this was everything he needed for access of computers and whatnot. G who was completely surprised just took it
"Right." he was still a bit surprised and confused and just taken aback by it. He needed a moment to actually decide
"Thanks for this, but dont expect the new group to stay here. You're a filthy Pro Hero after all, and I doubt you'll be lenient towards us Vigis. I know you're all super cereal about this pro hero bizz. So dont expect to see me any time soon either. Maybe once you took a good look at yourself, then maybe I'll show up. But since you're a mr-Stickler-For-The-Rules who makes big mondo choices behind peoples back. Yeah. Consider this a goodbye" he said and turned around to leave.
G started to walk away, although as he walked, he spoke "Oh and dont bother to arrest me now or ever. Or else" he said and then left Toma there
