While the red horned Oni always had the mentality that she could handle anything and everything if she put her mind to it, she culd recognize a weakness here or there, and in recognizing them felt she had more of an excuse to submit to her ego when she did. She knew she wasn't a perfect human, and shomehow that let her bask more in her glory when she'd earned it.
In not being a perfect human however, she could recognize the possibility of herself getting an impressively focused bit of tunnel vision when presented with a big baddie to throw down with, to the point while taking down a big fish, a handful of small fries could easily get away. In the grand scheme of things she was still making big dents in criminal organizations, taking out their key muscle or even just their leaders, but when enough stragglers got away, they just acted as canon fodder for the next big gang looking to make it's mark. As such, for this operation, Mia had been sure to call in back up to make sure as little 'fodder' as possible was left for the next gang to scoop up.
Now of course, the police were a first call for any hero to make in this situation. Heroes where meant to work alongside them afterall, but given the fact a lot of gangs like this consisted of illegal quirkers now, and even those few with quirks on the force weren't allowed to use them. As such, it only made sense to call in someone who could cover her weaknesses AND use quirks. While Mia didn't have any exceptionally close friends in the Hero community, ArmyOfOne, aka Caitlyn, sounded like a strong bet. With their control over a horde of spiders it was incredibly easy for her to round up the stragglers, or at the very least, freak them out enough for the police to have an easier time with them.
Now, back to the present.
After weeks of staking out an operation involving the illegal trade of weaponized quirk (people who could produce grenades, bullets, or general weaponry selling it as specialized gear), Mia finally had enough evidence to pull in an official case and get the support of the law on her side for this operation. The main operation was running out of an ice cream factory on the outskirts. A minimally noticed brand, the storeable quirk spawns managing to be stored in zip bags in the the syrup vats that were transported with the ice cream...wasn't a perfect operation but it wasn't like anyone wanted to go searching for illegal goods in one of the stickiest substances known to mankind.
Point was, Mia was hanging out on a rooftop of a taller buidling beside the rarehouse, peering through binoculars to spot one of the quirkers they'd maked as part of the operation going in for their 'shift', carrying a chinese takeout with him, likely needing the fuel to make sure he could produce as much as possible. She tossed the binoculars aside for a moment, picking up her phone and swiping into a quick call.
"Yo, ArmyOfOne. You almost on the scene?"

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 322 WORDS ■ "Army of Four!" ■ Just because she didn't fit her part, didn't mean she didn't belong. She wasn't one for bright colors or outfits. She always simply wore what she had on. A pink blouse on her top, and loose black shorts over her legs. She smiled, walking forward, three beings dressed in suits, far nicer than she was. Each of them sported a nice black hat as the hero behind them did simply what she always did. With a vibration, she lifted her phone to her face. Another right arm held up a croissant, while the other was firmly placed on her hip. On her left, her lowermost hand rested on her hip, while the others held up two different drinks for her. One bottled soda, and another can on green tea. "Why, yes, of course. Just tell me when." Cait would quickly say, wondering if getting the earpieces from home was a waste of her time. No matter. Three large creatures made of spiders stood tall like their own men. Each of them on their own countdown. One. Two. Three. As long as they weren't there any longer than thirty minutes, she should be fine. Having two would be enough, but to suit up a third was just a precaution. She didn't know what to expect, only knowing that it was centered around a quirk that created weapons. Whatever it was, it was fueled by calories of some kind. She had to expect all of them to be armed, and anyone that Mia couldn't handle, Cait would deal with personally. "You can call me Army, if you just want to use code names, Red." she would say. She knew enough to know that a full title wasn't always quick to say. It was helpful to . . . shorten everything. With a light nudge, she pushed her creatures forward, and the team of four quickly made their way back into the shadows, waiting for a moment to strike.

Mia felt reassured somewhat having Caitlyn to back her up. The multi-limbed spider queen may not have gone after the big targets often but she had a good reputation for being reliable when going after the small fry. Not only that but from the fact she was reliable but also because the two of them had each taken their hero evaluations at the same time, there was already an odd sense of comradery there she wanted to see if she could strengthen through a bit of work like this.
“No worries. We’ll switch to headesets to keep in touch. We just had some info they might have some scanner quirks so old fashion walkie talkie seemed like a safe option.” She then switched the walkie talkie to a channel that also addressed the cops. “ 20 seconds till we switch communication everyone. Keep in touch and this’ll go off without a hitch.~” The grin almost sounded evident in her tone alone, and Red Horn put down the old walkie talkie on the roof top she’d been using to stake out the location, sliding a communication device into her pointed ear under her hair, standing to her full height and rolling her shoulders back. She’d quickly test the communicator by just sending a bit of static down the system, hopefully receiving some back to make sure everyone was good to go.
“Alright Army, time to go!” Taking a hop skip and a jump back along the roof, ready or not the criminals were about to get a rude interruption to their operation, hefty thuds so on the rooftop not sounding loud enough for it to be heard over the commotion of whatever was going on inside the warehouse, but enough for Army to easily hear from her own preparation spot. “The little ones are gonna start scampering the moment this goes down! Leavin’ ‘em to you hun!”
The line crackled briefly before cutting off, the device smart enough to register the woman was no longer talking down the line and not forcing Caitlyn to endure the sound of the wind whipping through Red horn’s hair. She bounded from the top of her own building, cracking the brickwork lining the edge with the force of her kick. From this height and with that force she easily had the punch behind her needed to cross the street, her body hurtling like a peachy, blonde topped cannonball towards the warehouse. Her body crashed through the brick wall, easily smashing through and dropping into a roll, down on one knee at the end but in a far more ready position than a lot of the goons she’d just crashed in on, grinning wildly at the lot of them as she pressed a finger to her ear, getting in touch with Caitlyn sharply. “How we lookin’ out there Army!?” She rose quickly to her feet, dipping to the side of a burst of flame from one of the smaller goons. “I can already see a few of ‘em running from in here how’s it look outside?~”

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 619 WORDS ■ "I swear I know what I'm doing!" ■ it was someone she wanted to be. She wanted to be a beacon of hope for all mutants. She loved her appearance, even if people hated her for it. Even if she hated herself for being a spider, she still wouldn't change herself. But that didn't mean she didn't think she was a monster herself. Often, she forgot she was human. In her eyes, she was an alien who landed on earth only to show all of the good boys and girls with their mutations that they could become something. She just wanted to make the world a better place. And she was damn good at it. Ding!Caitlyn pressed one of her hands against her ear, as she lowered her hands to hold onto her phone. "Oh, my Energy Points reset! Now I can reclaim my adventure zones. Let's see if I can get Yukirochisu unlocked tonight~!" She smiled with glee, pulling out her phone, her guards in front of her. Her hand pressed against her ear, she pressed the button turning it on, and again to send a bit of white noise before focusing at the task at hand. "okay, silver chests are good, I can at least maybe get my Bodak today too... and nope. More Yatos." With a sigh, she quickly made her way through out the game, only for a loud crashing sound to be heard. "Appa Elo!" The woman spoke, the creatures immediately rushing forward. Men that stood guard immediately pulled out their knives and knuckles to face the threat at hand, only to find their tools lost and consumed by an army of tiny creatures. Caitlyn looked up, smiling. "Hey, you guys wouldn't happen to play Gauken, do you? No, alright..." Three fists from each of the creatures crashed down upon each of the men's faces. Caitlyn continued to walk forward, her helpers leading the way. "OH SHIT FUCK YES!" The woman yelled, cheering on as a few more men ran past her. The figures grabbing hold of them one at a time, only to have the other throw a punch at their face, knocking out each one with a few hits. "I GOT NEKO NEKO YUKIROCHISU!" With a smile, Caitlyn quickly put her phone away, only to rush forward, past her own constructs. It was only then, that she realized she was still holding onto her mic. "oh, uh... sorry. We're doing fine out here!" Her finger was lifted, and the girl would run forward, her figures catching up. Each of them taking the full hits of each and every weapon that came her way. Hammers, swords, knives, and daggers. Caitlyn's fists rushing forward to knock them out square at the jaw. Her fingers shooting a few feet of webbing for all of their hands to get tied up. But it was the glint of a gun that caught her attention. The hand of one of her spiders crashing down, grabbing hold of it before it went off. A second arm swinging around to hit him his nose, disarming him. The gun tossed over to Caitlyn, for her to inspect. Caitlyn stopped to look around at all of the men she faced, and the few she had just noticed that her spiders had downed. "All is well. Though, I thought they all had swords? I'm not sure if they also have guns? I found one."She held the weapon in her hands. It felt strange, weird material. Was it really made by a quirk, or was it something off that underground? She would find out, but that wasn't her field. That was something for the real hero, Red Horn to find out.

As Mia got her barings after her landing, a few of the more serious thugs who wanted to save the operation over running away rushed towards her. One, a hooded fellow with the arms of a preying mantis, rushed forward and tried to strike at her, but a back handed swing of her fist quickly told them that was a bad idea as they were sent skimming across the floor. Small fry. She rose to her feet and dusted off her pants with a cheeky expression, gesturing for them to come and get some as she prepared to take them on.
Though, she was maybe a little distracted. “The fuck’s a yokiruchisu?”
Taking advantage of the brief blank spot in her brain as she was confused by the spider girl’s words, one of the thugs rushed in with what appeared to be…a snake!? They were using a snake like a whip and the damn thing even looked like it had a handle. She felt the sting of the first strike lash out against her shoulder, and raised her arm for the second. The head of the whip wrapped about her forearm and sank it’s fangs into the flesh of the pro hero, though from the whimpering sound it made it clearly didn’t have an easy time doing it.
The thug looked confident for a moment, knowing this odd little product of another thug’s quirk made for a great poisoning weapon, but with a chuckle forming in her chest, Mia threw her head back with a grin, completely unphased by the burning sensation that lasted so briefly in her forearm.
“Sorry punk. I’m resistant!~”
Grasping the still outstretched snake whip not attatched to her arm, Mia swung the punk about in an arc, his body colliding with a vat of strawberry syrup, a few weapons in airtight sealing spilling out. Mia glanced at him for a moment to make sure his face wasn’t enveloped and he was still breathing, Caitlyn’s weird words and the fading sensation of the poison as her body kicked it’s ass both confusing her and leaving her open again. “Caitlyn the fuck are you-“
BAM
Next thing Mia knew she was crashing through another wall but not by choice this time, digging in her fingertips as they dug up the floor and skidding to a halt a few feet away. Seemed she’d found the big guns. This guy didn’t have any obvious quirk of his own but he seemed deck to hell in odd items. The snake whip at his hip, normal guns on his back…was that a wrist mounted ROCKET LAUNCHER!? And of course, the thing that had delivered the blow to knock her through the wall, some gauntlet over his right arm that seemed to be steaming from the attack it had just delivered. Mia could feel a little bit of blood oozing down the left side of her skull from the sucker punch. As the world came a bit more into focus, Caitlyn finally seemed to apologize herself, Mia finally putting fingers to her ear so she could be heard.
“No worries…where you playin’ a gacha game or some shit you cocky bitch…?~” It was clear from her tone she was smiling rather than made, shaking the debri off her shoulders and lifting her arms in a defensive pose as she faced down this decked out thug. “I think I found the big guy…odds are a lot more are gonna head your way while I deal with ‘em. You got it covered down there Army?” She knew she did, she didn’t have any reason to doubt her, but this guy looked pissed thinking none of his goons were getting away.
“I thought you worked alone red horn!”
“Yeah well sometimes my brain beats my brawn, what can I say?~”

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 417 WORDS ■ "Send help. oh right, we ARE the help." ■ Cat girls. It was Japan. They had full cafes dedicated to girls with cat outfits. In a society full of quirks, they were actually real. But what did Caitlyn concern herself with? A game years old, full of old art and characters from retired series. Characters forgotten to the players playing the updated game, only to be horded and collected by the spider woman. But that didn't matter. Even if her phone was put away, her mind drifted to the world of stats, abilities, and other stages and zones she would use her new characters on. They were just puppets made for one life to control them. Characters used against their will, as if they wanted to be controlled. As if what they were doing, was what they were meant to do. Maybe that Neko Warrior goddess didn't want to fight, maybe she wanted to open up a small liquor store. Maybe that spider woman didn't want to fight crime, maybe she just wanted to have a family. They were all just pawns, slaves to another beings control.
Caitlyn held the gun, only to tug on bits and pieces. She held onto it with one hand, as if she was ready to use it. She had no idea if it worked, and what kind of power it may have had. Maybe it shot a single bullet, or maybe he housed a deadly laser beam. Caitlyn looked up, only to find a series of various mutants heading her way. Without a second glance, her constructs went forward, apprehending them, disarming them. Taking in the force of blades and bats, only to move as if it had done nothing. Spider legs fell from each of them, getting more and more damaged. It was fighting with weighted gloves, but Caitlyn had no reason to play fair. Punches thrown towards their laws, knocking them out. Spiders crawled out of her mouth, only to be tossed at the other constructs to attempt to repair what had been done.
She lifted her finger her to mic, turning it on, and remembering it turn it off after. "Do you require back up? Everything out here seems quite undercontr-" It passed through her hand. Caitlyn quickly ducked. The sound of it passing by her head left her head ringing. She crouched, holding her hand, inspecting it. The blood oozed out from her palm. She looked up. "Did I... Did I just fucking get shot?"

“Well big boy…dunno how you’re handlin all that gear but it won’t do you any good when-“ Mia ducked sharply to the side as he raised his arm, firing off one of the arm mounted devices he had. Mia had no idea what she should have been expecting going into this place, but apparently someone had a quirk to create real world anime weapons or something cause she was pretty sure a fucking lazer just roared past her face and singed her hair. Gritting her teeth, realizing now maybe wasn’t the best time for another quippy joke, Mia rushed in to close the gap. She stayed low for a moment, hooking a hand into the floor and peeling up the foundation of the floor itself to peer into the floor below as she used it as a shield against another attack, pushing it up further, tearing it out of place completely before kicking the hefty chunk of flooring towards the criminal, watching them stagger back with a cheeky grin of her own.
“All those gadgets and it’s that easy to knock you off balance huh?~” She Watched their face, clearly annoying them with the fact Mia could still hold a strong hand despite all the gear they’d equipped themselves with, gesturing for him to make a move and lifting her arms in a more ready position to take him on.
As he used some jet boots he’d gotten, again, who the fuck had quirks to make this shit? Regardless, head in the game, she prepared to take him, digging in her heels and turning one of her feet to the side to strengthen her stance as she locked hands with him. As he used his boots to try and push her back with a flying charge she met him with her strength, her muscles rapidly bulking up with each tense breath as she glared him down. She heard a small beep in her ear and knew that ArmyofOne was trying to get in touch, tossing the momentum fuelled weight of her foe past her and watching him crash through a nearby wall.
“Nah I’m good…big guy in charge of the show apparently kept a few toys for himself but he-“ She heard the sudden shot in the background and Caitlyn turn silent, Mia waited a second for any word from the bug queen before almost yelling back down the line. “Hey! Hey you okay there? You-!?” She stopped as the distraction allowed her opponent to get one up on her, taking one of his gadgets blasts to her side and falling through the hole she’d created in the floor earlier, groaning painfully as she landed on her back on the floor below, lightly writhing in place, holding her side where the skin had been singed by the attack and glaring back up through the whole. It was clear the guy was gloating but the impact had left her head ringing a little, unsure what he was saying. “Army you better be okay after that blow I just took trying to get ya…!” She joked of course, hissing as she worked her way back up to her feet.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 379 WORDS ■ "I want to die." ■ Maybe it was all of the adrenaline, or just the fact that her own anatomy had been replaced and modified by her own quirk, and the spiders that resulted of it. Blood replaced with another strange liquid. Nerves damaged and numbed by the feasting carnivore spiders. Was it supposed to hurt? There was no reason for her to think about that right now. She still had five good hands. She still had someone to save, someone to help. That someone, was the number one hero.
"I will not fail. Not again." She thought to herself, still trying to forget her pain, and only to remember her task. Caitlyn charged forward, her constructs all walking in front of her. Whatever it was, it had to be in front of her. The trajectory of the bullet, the sound, the crack. He had to be there. One henchmen fell after another. Hit after hit. Until another shot was fired. It skipped off the ground and nicked the leg of one of her spider beings. An action, that caused quite the reaction.
"MAY THE GODS SAVE YOU, FOR I SURE AS HELL WON'T." She yelled, her arms at her side, grabbing the various blunt weapons. Bats, pipes, wooden stick, a wrench. She pushed from between her spiders, only to rush forward at the man. She swung the pipe away at his head, the wrench being tossed at full force at his chest. From the other side the bat swung, and from above, the wooden stick. There was no where for him to go. And for a wound, he was going to pay.
The sound of cracking bone followed, only for the man to fall onto the ground, dropping the gun, and holding onto his right side with his left hand, and his left hand holding his broken arm. "Freaks!" He would say, only for Caitlyn to set her foot upon his chest, knocking him over onto the ground.
her wounded hand lifted to her earpiece, pressing it on. "Well, so much for going home with the same amount of holes I left with. Though, I am most okay. Exit secured." And so she remained, waiting for any more to run past her. She was done playing around.

Pushing up from her elbows with a heavy groan that left through a hard nose-sigh, she managed to get back up to her feet just as the head honcho came back down to meet her, grinning despite the pain radiating through her side. She hadn’t heard anything back from Army Of One at this point but she had to put on a brave face and hold this guy back till she heard word that things were okay outside. Afterall if Caitlyn was down, saving her was a priority over bagging this guy.
Another blow came towards her, one of those snake whips and she dipped to the side, grasping just under the head of the living whip and using it to yank the guy towards her, managing to catch him off balance as her strength began to increase, her muscles bulking up with her rage, and on some level, her worry for the spider girl fighting outside to help keep everything from going into full chaos mode. With the guy stumbling towards her Mia slammed a fist right into his chest to knock him back, wrenching a piece of machinery up with her other hand and using it like a baseball bat to extend her reach, and knock the head guy into a wall.
“That all ya got big guy!?”
It clearly wasn’t, despite the weight of the gear he was loaded with he kicked in his jet boots on before he hit the wall, flying back towards Mia and locking his fists into her palms, the titan of a blonde growling deeply as she struggled against the force of his gear and the jet boots behind him now, a few veins spreading from her own as it grew further from her skuill, her arms beefing up to keep him at bay as they went for a simple test of eachother’s strength.
Over the pulsing of the veins through her skull, it was a little hard to hear Caitlyn when she finally spoke up. She was okay!? Right! Right! Nothing to worry about now! Rearing her head back she came down with the blunt front of her horn and slammed a headbutt hard into the other fighter her, knocking him off kilter and using the jet boots against him, ducking in low and coming in for a rising uppercut with all her force behind it. The boss man shot through the hole her body had left in the floor above them and right through the top of the building, the boots giving him far more air to his unconscious body before shifting and spiralling towards the ground outside the building, Mia raising her own hand to her ear.
“Army of One I got one last punk coming your way! Just get that gear off him before he wakes up and causes any more shit. Sound good?” She smirked a little cheekily, chuckling as she wound back her arm, flexing her fist, the punch having been one of her stronger ones, but still needing to make sure she held back so she didn’t blow his damn head off. “Good to hear you’re okay…was worried for a second…”
