It was quiet at first as they worked their way up toward the room they'd traced the link too. A few other's in a similar business had reported small problems with various transactions or large some's of money winding up in the wrong place. Or reported when it should have been stashed in safe locations. Or various other information from time to time getting mucked up in the electrical works making certain jobs or endeavors prove so troublesome at some points a few things had to be abandoned entirely. So far what had been lost or unable to be obtained had proven minor but still a nuisance all the same. Like an itch that just couldn't be scratched. But after enough time they found just enough to tail it back to a location. A small idea of where the possible perm may have been hiding out.
Three men in suits and a woman in a dark red dress with a slit up the side that allowed her to move more easily in it worked their way up the stairwell of the apartment building. The man bellow manning the reception desk had been temporally taken care of and likely wouldn't awaken until they'd already be long gone from this place. Two of the men took the lead as they made their way to the second floor. The woman checking a small scrap of paper she held her in hand. Making sure it was the right room earlier having checked the address as well. It was feint but they could hear something inside. She'd give a nod towards the door tucking the paper away in a small pouch on her belt before pulling out a cigarette and small golden lighter. The flickering flame taking a few clicks to light as the end of her cigarette lit up in embers and the other end touched her lips as she inhaled and her good eyes stared with ill intent towards the old apartment door.
At first one of the men would knock on the door holding his thumb over the peep hole to ensure anyone inside wouldn't be able to simply lookout and see who was there. The knocking coming in small intervals but hard and stern each time. The knocking only giving about five seconds before each series of several loud bangs and thuds. One of two things would happen next though. Either someone would answer and the second they did one of the two men at the door would swing the bottom of a pistol handle at the face of whoever came to the door. The other rushing in to tackle. The third would remain back putting a barrier between the door and the woman. The woman puffing on her cigarette all the while in that case or the other. If they heard anything that sounded suspicious. Or found resistant or simply no one answered the door. The two men would begin taking turn giving a series of harsh shoulder slams into the door until they broke it down. If they had to break it down all three would have rushed in to try and subdue the boy. One threatening with a gun to try and get the boy to freeze up while the toy moving in to attack physically. They didn't want to actually shoot and risk too many people hearing.
If they had to go in loud though the few people who would peak out of their own apartments would be made to understand briefly as well they shouldn't get involved. The woman with a finger to her lips offering a shush like gesture. Only herself entering the room last pending however it went down. Cigarette being pulled from her lips between two fingers as her dark eye would look for her culprit.

The clicking of his fingertips pressing against the keyboard would fill the near silent room, the only other sound being the blaring loud rock music that threatened to deafen the boy with each riff of the electric guitar. It was in this lonely darkness, lit only by the lighting from his four monitors and T.V screen, that Kohaku would sit contentedly, cross-legged in his comfy leather chair like a cat perched at the top of it's tower. It was moments like this that the redhead felt his mightiest- a mischievous glint in his feline eyes as the screen filled with code that few around him could understand. Where did this unspoken language go? Why, straight into the digital vault door that contained the riches of a underhanded mafia family!
It was small amounts, at first. Surely nothing that they would miss with how much they already had. Yet, as time went on and passwords and more measures were taken to defend their fortune, Haku only got bolder. He had gotten cocky, perhaps too cocky, and thought himself above them. Underestimating the opponent was his first mistake, and being sloppier than usual in hiding his footprints in the code left him regretting it immediately. Though he tried to go back and cover it, the deed had already been done. Now, he could only sit in his chair and hope that his actions weren't enough to make him easily traceable.
Though he tried to distract himself from the growing knot in his chest, the hacker could do nothing but tap his fingers on the arms of his chair nervously. His chapped lips were his first victim- chewing down on the dry skin that laid upon his bottom lip. Silently cursing himself for being so ignorant, his yellow eyes would look over his set-up as he remained deep in thought. The desk that made him feel so godly wrapped itself around the sides of his chair, four expensive monitors placed immaculately in a semi-circle below a massive flat screen that hung on the wall. It was his everything- all of his time and hard-work in physical form- and being close to it typically calmed his nerves.
But, this time, it couldn't.
The hacker god in human clothes clicked open the forum chat that he'd stumbled upon just a day before. He wasn't sure that the mafia family would even do anything, but he was paranoid enough to not take chances in case the worst case scenario decided to unfold. Bony fingers were preparing to type a message, one well-thought out with money at the end of the rainbow for whoever offered to protect him for the night to make him sleep a bit easier. Yet, he didn't have a chance to think about such a thing. The pounding on the door startled the redhead enough to make him jump, but never enough to make him scream. His breathing would begin to take a rapid turn as he sat in silent terror, gulping back the lump growing in his throat as he typed out a much less thought out message- one brimming with fear and desperation.
He'd quickly log off after, making sure that the chat was safe from whoever was knocking upon his door so aggressively. Though he was always one to run from his problems, Kohaku mustered the little courage he had and spun to face the entrance, standing. His apartment resembled more of a broom closet- his set-up taking up the majority of the studio while his bed and mini-fridge were cramped to the side. Though small, it was surprisingly organized for a young adult. Especially a hermit like himself.
Unplugging and pulling down his orange headphones from his PC to plug it into the phone that was almost immediately stuffed into his pants pocket, the hacker would take short steps to find the door knob. He wanted to believe that it would be a peaceful interaction, perhaps an elderly neighbor who moved in just next door and was dropping in to introduce herself. Maybe Miss. Akane was stopping by to say hello, bringing tea and cookies as she always did. However, the second he opened the door, he was only faced with instant regret. A pistol, though he hadn't even had time to see it, was brought swiftly to his head and he stumbled back in confused pain.
Leaving no time for the redhead to recover, another suited man would rush through the doorway to send him straight to the ground of his apartment. The bee-like striped glasses that were all too useful to him were sent flying off his face and onto the ground next to him and his assailant. It wasn't enough that he couldn't ask why they were doing this, but he couldn't even begin to see what would become of him. He'd struggle, at first, to try and get the man off of him. But, he slowly stopped fighting back as the realization sunk in- no one was coming for a long time. Even if someone in the chat had found him, he could already be dead by then.
Bitter tears formed in his eyes as he tried to yelp out something- anything- at the posse that had formed to take him down. But, once again, his voice wouldn't and hadn't for too many years. Kohaku couldn't see the gun, but had already allowed the man to restrain him. He was only powerful when his keyboard was within reach, and even then he could only do so much.
The hacker god was powerless, and he laid himself bare in the grave he'd dug for himself with his teeth coming down sharply on his lip.

Things seemed to go relatively smoothly as she drew in a slow drag of her cigarette walking in a few steps behind her goons. One remaining in the hall way as the other two moved quickly to restrain the boy. She couldn't help but chuckle and the satisfying sound of hearing the pistol smash into the boys face before he hit the ground. Her two goons would try to use the zip ties to secure his hands as quickly as they could if he wasn't able to weasel his way out of their grasp. Quickly frisking him but unless he got loose they'd get rid of anything that could be taken for a weapon. The woman herself leaving such actions for the lesser soldiers. Relishing the thought of how she imagined the pain must have felt from the smashing wound the boy had recently incurred.
Walking up where the two men struggled. Snerking lightly as she lifted her leg and thrusted the bottom of her high heel shoe for the boy's jaw to try and knock a bit of his lights out if he was still holding up at all as well if he was unable to avoid it. Nori unable to resist throwing a bit of a personal blow in it. Walking in curiously after trying to send a stabbing heel stomp towards him. Taking a few moments to canvas the room for anything of relative value or interest. It didn't take her long to realize besides the setup of tech and the high end computer there wasn't much worth taking note of here. "I expected more, Someone brave enough to go messing with Yakuza accounts I thought would have been a bit bigger. Or at least put up more of a fight." She'd say in a almost dissatisfied tone. "You, Smash the computer and bring the hard drive. We'll see if there's anything of value or not later." She didn't expect anything to turn up though. If he was able to mess with their foreign accounts surely he knew how to cover his tracks and keep his data protected. But it was worth at least a light peek just to be sure though.
Snapping her fingers as if to imply a sense of urgency to be quick about what they all had to be doing. As she did the two mean with their hands full of Haku would have tried to have his hands secure by now and would attempt to slip a cloth sack over his head if he wasn't able to fight them off. The blinding bag accompanied by a set of earphones blazing ear deafening heavy metal music to make sure he would have trouble being able to make heads or tails about where they were going or any of the path they were about to head out on.
The sounds following any struggle would be partially drowned out as Nori left the apartment and the third man had taken a short time inside to use whatever he could at his disposal inside to go about destroying the tech and high end computer. The only thing not broken up was the hard drive but the rest of it was taken to with a rather vicious gusto. Making sure to spare no effort in breaking, cracking, and crushing anything and everything important as far as parts went.
"We better be out of here soon, No reason to stick around... We have what we came for." She'd say in a relatively cold tone as if they were speaking about some sort of package or any other type of business. Her tone completely unempathetic to the fact they had a human life in their hands and disposal. Haku would have felt one final strong whack of something blunt towards the back of his head once all the precautions were put in place to try and daze him and insure he'd not put up to much of a fight as two men on either side of him would lead him to the car just outside of the building. The woman and the three men moving relatively quickly to get back down so they could hopefully quickly be gone from this place. Nori flicking her cigarette butt into the dark night out on the side walk. When it come to their money the Narumi family had a way of making sure to let people know it was something not to be fucked with. She had plans for this boy... It didn't matter what he knew. Simply that they made a example of him to deter future do gooders.

The heel that met his jaw sent a jolt of pain through his face, and the hacker could only wince as his wrists were bound together to leave him powerless. Honey-colored eyes would try to glare up at his assailant, but the lack of glasses made it hard for him to see much of anything. Though his body was lifeless underneath the restraint of the thug, his cat-like eyes were alive with a passion and drive that refused to flow through his limbs to do anything.
That was, until she gave the order to smash his baby.
His set-up was the one of the few things he held dear in his life. All of his time and hard-work had been poured into the creation of such a beautiful beast, and basking in the light of the bright screens and back-lit keyboard in an otherwise dark room took up too much of his day to day for him to just see it fall through the cracks in his fingers like sand. It was this- the command to shatter his entire life right before his eyes- that pushed him to fight back. It was more desperation than bravery, though, but damned if he'd let them do it so easily as he began to squirm and push back against the thug. His stomach was tying itself into knots as he writhed around, his shoulders and knees knocking into the floor of his apartment that would surely leave bruises across them both. Opening his mouth to scream did nothing, only a wet gargle leaving his lips as the tears that brimmed in his eyes falling onto the floor without a word.
As his body grew tired quickly from how inactive he was, Haku could only slam his forehead into the floor of his apartment with a quiet and frustrated sob. He could only give in when the thugs pulled him off the ground and slipped earphones into his ears- playing deafening metal music that compared to the music he already typically listened to. A burlap sack was pulled over his fiery hair and fastened so that it wouldn't come off in the trip down. There was no point for the thugs to send one last strike to the back of the hacker's head as he had already accepted his fate, but he was dazed nonetheless as the two guided Haku towards the car as he slipped in and out of consciousness. His bare feet would drag and scrape against the pavement, but he was too overwhelmed with the whirlwind of trouble that he'd gotten himself into to care.
Whatever it was that they wanted- whether some petty revenge for the money they wouldn't miss or information- Haku physically couldn't give them the latter. He could only pray that they'd realize his muteness as his head slumped and his vision went black, passing out.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma woke up in a cold sweat, rising from a nightmare and slowly rousing to reality. It was the same dream he had had for years. The school bus exploded, kids were screaming, and some strange man stared at him in contempt.
Sitting up on the raggedy couch they had in their base, Toma pushed the hair out of his face and shook off the bad dream. He was used to it by now, but it still bothered him. The same damned nightmare at least once a month.
It didn't take him long to get woke up and dressed. Sipping a cup of lukewarm coffee he sat down in the beaten up computer chair and lacked away, logging into the chat he frequented. His timing couldn't have been more perfect, something weird was happening and the new guy seemed to be in trouble. KK, the nickname Toma gave for the new kid, had left some numbers and mysteriously logged off.
Toma thought on it for a second and realized that he knew what the numbers where. They were coordinates, probably meant to lead him to KK. It could have been a trap, but the hero inside stopped him from dwelling on that.
Quickly preparing himself Toma suited up, donning his custom biking suit and making sure everything was working and nothing was falling apart. And with that done Toma ran out of the base and into the cool evening air. Heading for the coordinates that were left like a crumb trail.
…..
Toma was surprised when he finally made it to the location Haku had blasted out like an APB. It was an apartment building not far from the location of his hideout. He had expected something a little more sinister, like an abandoned warehouse.
Before walking into the building Toma stashed his helmet in the bag he had brought with him, pulling out a big black overcoat to throw over his costume. Stashing the bag behind some dumpsters he walked in, head held low and collar held high. He might look a little suspicious, but he looks even more suspicious in full regalia.
The man at the front desk was out cold. Someone had given him a good beating, but with a quick inspection, Toma realized he was still alive. Whoever knocked him out must not have cared much for discretion because the older man definitely looked beat up.
Making his way up the stairs Toma activated his quirk as subtly as possible. Waves of heat lightly radiated off from him as he made his way up to the second floor. It was easy to find the new guys apartment. While the door was shut it was the only room not locked and the handle juggled like it had been treated roughly.
With one hand ready to let loose a bolt of power, Toma slowly opened the door and crept into the place. The inside wasn't completely trashed, but there were definitely signs of trouble. Someone had smashed the major feature of the room to the bit, a ramshackle computer that was now strewn all over the floor. Nothing else in the threadbare apartment really looked too messed up and there weren't any clues as to where the perpetrators had gone.
Toma took this as a sign that he should maybe check outside to look for clues and started to leave but something caught his eye. Laying on the ground was a pair of glasses, a little bent looking but still in one piece. Toma picked them up and looked them over but much as one could assume they left him no clues.

The car had sped away rather quickly a subtle rain that had recently began had left a few thick and deep tire skid marks behind. A twisted cigarette butt of a rather pricey foreign brand left on the curb as well with ruby lipstick at the end of it. Speeding away to a further off destination near the coastline. Driving for a decent amount of time and in the dead of night after arriving at their destination things had likely gotten rather lively. Two cars remained parked outside of a small warehouse on the harbor here. The local security all bribed and thanks to the local pay status of such careers a few envelope of cash or favors went along way with such people. The Yakuza knew how to take care of those who remained loyal in a time of need. The boy had been left tied to a chair as some of them were taking a brief smoke break in the moment. Nori herself not far off in a small office at the upper level of the warehouse. Making a few calls to her contacts to make sure all the issues with the hacker had by now been reversed. Money returned to where it belonged and their assets all in order. While they were taking a break there wasn't a show to currently watch anyway. Laying strewn about near the further side of the building among the crates of random imports. Kohaku was still tied to his chair. His hands and feet bound and the bottom cut out of the chair to ensure now matter how he rested he'd never be comfortable. Only the metal rim where the cushion once was remained so he'd always lightly be sinking into it. For now they at least believed him to be currently out. They'd stripped him of his clothing of all but his undergarments. Taking their time to find out of he knew anything while Nori had simply watched carefully over the one doing the woundings shoulder earlier. It had taken them awhile to become suspicious to the fact he might not actually be able to talk. But this was more about sending a message then actually finding anything out from him. They'd started earlier that night with a bit of tenderizing. All of the six men currently in the lower level of the building had taken turns beating on the small boy with their fists. Metal knuckles used to make sure each blow was felt. Followed by questions that at the time they had little idea that this one couldn't actually answer. When that hadn't worked they tried more small area wounds that while they wouldn't give lasting effects the pain would be immense. The one brought in to do the main pain to the boy using wire cutters to pinch small bits of flesh no bigger then you could pinch with your index and thumb finger. Snipping several dozen times in various spots of the body. Like clipping small nerves. The pain would be immense and while tied in such a uncomfortable position and severely restrained the tension on the body causing light movement now and again would only make each snip burn all that much more. When Nori made her way down not long after to see if he'd woken up she eyed the third part of their fun that had actually caused the boy to pass out. Some people just couldn't take it from the pain but it wasn't all that long lasting of a problem. The three full length finger nails still remained bloody on all the table of tools. The pliers uses to pull them out laying next to them so it could commence. Nori's fine silk dress shined lightly from the lights of the warehouse above. A fur scarf wrapped around her shoulder to keep her warm. " He never said anything, The sounds he was making make me wonder if he can even talk. I've heard similar a couple times before. Should we keep going or just do our think and dump him?" The man sitting nearby with some blood staining the apron one over the front of his shirt as he smoked a long cheap looking cigar. The other five men sitting not far off in various places keeping watch and ready encase they were intruded upon or if the security guard suddenly grew a conscience. " Might as well, The little twit wasted our time. The least he could have done was had a way to give us something good before we put him down. These fucking people sticking their nose in things that don't concern them..." She'd say reaching over grabbing bucket of cold sea water. To which she'd taken the liberty of asking earlier should the boy pass out to make sure to add quite a bit more salt to it as well. Holding her arms back for a moment and thrusting it forward so to try and wake up Kohaku he'd be drenched on his body and many wounds to feel not only a rush of cold water but salt to hit his cuts and wounds to bring him to a waking state. Nori herself standing at attention reaching into her purse and pulling out a rather small but golden inlay and custom pistol. AT this range it probably didn't matter how big it is to look scary as she pointed at the boy waiting for his eyes to eventually stir to see him awake. " Given what they said and what I saw earlier... I guess asking about any last words wouldn't do any good would it?" She'd say chuckling lightly as moments after her goons would began to do the same. Nori's thumb reaching up as she licked her lips subtly and pulled the hammer back with a soft click her good eye looking down towards Kohaku wanting to see how he reacted in the moment drenched in his boxers covered in his wounds and three nails down. Nori had learned people all reacted differently when they were about to die. She wanted to see how he would do as she would give it a few moments. Unaware they were about to have a unexpected annoyance.

Kohaku's brain had stopped functioning properly somewhere after ten minutes into their torturing methods.
It wasn't the stripping of his clothing or even the metal chair that he was bound to, but it was the strikes that he lost count of that halted all thought. He continued to feel each blow as his mouth opened to exhale sharply and painfully, but no sound would escape. The yellow eyes that were always alive with mischief had faded, leaving a husk of who he was before the posse of thugs had taken him and thrust him into a void of uncertainty of whether he'd live or die.
He was never a weak person. Growing up in an orphanage with parents that didn't want him and having the control over his vocal cords ripped from him hardened him into the person he was- a tough and rather smart cookie. Yet, the redhead had never been subjected to extremes like this. The punches from fists covered in metal knuckles alone were enough to numb the thoughts that should have been circling around his head like vultures.
Even that couldn't have prepared the hacker for their next little game with him, and the clippers that pinched and pulled at his skin were enough to bring hot tears streaming down his cheeks. He'd bite his lip and shut his eyes tightly as they brought the tool back down onto his limbs and chest, but nothing made the jolts of immense pain any better.
It was somewhere after the first fingernail being torn off that Haku lost consciousness, his head slumping down and his body going limp. The boss of the group, a cruel woman with an intense look in her eye, was quick to wake the boy back up with a shock of cold water. The redhead jolted awake, chewing down on his bottom lip as the salt hit the small but superficial wounds that covered his body. Gasping for air would be all the group would get out of him, as the woman brought out a pistol and pointed it at him.
Through the whole session, the redhead's mind had numbed. Yet, as she looked down at him as if he was little more than shit on the bottom of her shoe, the husk that remained began to be filled once more with life. There would be no last words, but one last act of defiance as he gathered the saliva in his mouth and spit it at her. He'd give an airy chuckle and grin at her as if he'd won, leaning back into the cushion-less chair as he accepted his fate.
Surely, there was no one coming for him. His cry in the dark to the chatroom was for nothing, and his first and last impression would be a desperate mark.
It was best, now, to die with some dignity.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma was sweating as he ran, concerned that he might be too late. It had taken him a while to follow the breadcrumbs, the tire tracks and the cigarette butt had been hard to find. He claimed to be some glorious hero, but he had almost given up all hope. He only found the clues by sheer luck, stumbling on them by accident as he left the apartment, head hanging low from the shame of not being able to help. He had almost given up entirely, a fact that disgusted him.
It took him way too long to follow the trial too. Getting lost a few times, only to stumble back upon matching tire tracks. By the time he made it to the warehouse, leaping and gliding from one rooftop to another as fast as he could, he couldn't shake the grim feeling that the hacker boy could be dead. He dreaded that above all else, failing to save a person in need. What was the point of being born with power if he couldn't use it to help him in someone's time of need?
Leaping a fence and quickly prowling past security he tried to shake the devastating image in his head. He kept seeing some faceless corpse, ragged and beaten by nameless thugs and tosses into the harbor. He picked up the pace, threw caution to the wind, and steeled his resolve. If he was going to save him he wouldn't be able to take his time. He was going to have to act fast, and risk his own life like it never mattered.
Toma didn't even stop to think of a plan as he kicked in the side door, coming face to face with a pair of goons fitting lead pipes and faces not even their mothers loved. Without his costume they could see his face, all fury and vengeance splashed across his features like a hateful portrait. That face closes in on them fast, as heat exploded from his palm and flinging the young vigilante straight into their personal face. He grabbed the first by the face with a feverishly hot hand, slamming his skull back into the doorframe he was guarding as he held his left hand up to let loose a flare of boiling energy into the chest of the second bastard.
The bolted goon dropped to the floor clutching his searing wound, Toma quickly let go of the first punk and finished off his downed foe with a swift kick to the head. Toma could only hope he stayed down as he turned his attention back to the first guy. He wanted to finish him off fast too, he knew he didn't have much time.
The still reeling thug manages to right himself and swing his pipe at the glowing vigilante, an act of angry revenge that hurt like hell. The pipe impacted with a hollow thump, smacking into Toma's back and causing him to cry out in a grunt of pain. Unfortunately for him the superheated, and insanely furious, the young man had become accustomed to dealing with pain during a fight.
He recovered quickly and turned, right hand extended with his palm pointed straight at fuckfaces grinning nasty grin, and let loose a second blast of power. The bolt struck true and scorched the left side of his cheek, causing him to scream and grab up to cover the wound. Toma took this quick advantage and delivered all of his meager strength into a kick straight into his opponent's chest.
The goon fell back and slammed into the door behind him, busting it open with an echoing crack and falling to the floor of the main hangar of the warehouse. Toma charged into the cavernous bay and spotted Haku tied to a chair, beaten and bloodied and being lorded over by some crazy chick with a gun. He didn't think, he didn't plan, he just rushed in screaming at the kidnapper.
“Get back from him you bitch!” He called out in a fit of fury as he started running towards her. He had already overextended his power, his skin steaming and starting to bubble from his own power visible because the lower half of his shirt sleeves had been scorched away to a cinder. For the first time in his life he didn't plan anything, he channels his inner G and rushed headlong into potential death.

She couldn't help but feel a slight grin slip across her face as the boy spit at her. Nor smirking down at the lower part of her dress that held the small bit of saliva on her dress. She always found it how entertaining it was to see how people reacted in these moments before death struck down on them. So many people reacted in ways one might not expect. Cowardly men in life would show defiance and strength if not composure in their final moments. Brave men might plead or deal to try and somehow stay alive. Others would just cry if not piss themselves in fear of the sleep eternal coming their way. if anything it was one of the few moments of true purity of who someone really was when you got to see who they truly were moments before they knew they were about to die.
"Bravery, I expected you to be a crier. I'm kinda surprised... Shame we won't get to see more of you but my patience runs thin."
Her eye drifted away briefly as one of her men came rushing or perhaps better put falling in through the doors not far off. Seeming out as she let out a light sigh. Things were still in need of some cleansing and finding the best help after their problem with thunder. She still had a few eggs to break it seemed when making the perfect omelette that would be the rising of the Narumi clan again.
"So we were followed..." She'd say in a sense of irritation. Thrusting a foot forward briefly in a strong stomp like kick with the bottom of her high heel towards Kohaku's chest with the full intention if the blow landed of knocking the boy on his back in the chair he was restrained in. Whether it succeeded or not she'd immediately turn to face her attacker. She only had three people still up and about. while things were still being rebuilt in the shadows she didn't have enough men to carry around to large of a entourage just yet. Thankfully the title Anthracite wasn't purely to be a cool name. As he came rushing towards them she turned towards the boy as well as her body at least what flesh could be seen began to harden if not show lines so defined it almost looked as if it was cracking or turning into a different substance.
She would attempt to quickly fire off the two rounds from her pistol trying to point the gun in the direction of the man rushing and if she still had time after simply dropping the gun she'd run forward barreling at the intruder. Her hardened body began glowing as soon flames began growing along her body. In mere moments her body not only appeared hardened but also inflamed from head to toe. Her clothes only not falling from her frame simply for being tailored made to be fire resistant for just such occasions. She'd attempt to rush forward closing whatever gap remained if any intending to tackle against the charging in male who may not have expected such a well dressed woman of refinement to be ready to attack. Snarling as she'd try to tackle into him and lock arms if possible and if all went as planned. Hopefully able to get a close look with her good eye to see just who had appeared. If their grasp taken burning heat of one and the other would come to meet.
"Seems allot of people want to come sniffing in my business lately! You people need to learn to keep your nose out of where it doesn't belong." She'd say in a growl her defining lines on her hardened face seeming to intense. Her pistol dropped as mentioned prior now making a mental note she'd need to find something with a better clip in the future.
Mean while her two goons and the torturer would be making their moves. The torturer tried to put some space between him and the action. His expertise and value not so much for actual combat. But while he did that. The other two would begin making their moves. One trying to aim a pistol towards Toma but unable to line up a shot with Nori doing battle. The other moving towards Kohaku who pending the earlier attempt may or may not have been on his back. Pending the case the man would either attempt to put his foot on Kohaku's chest and aim a gun at him to try and help slow down the moment and calm their new intruder. If Kohaku wasn't actually on his back he'd simply put a gun at him.
"I think you should rethink your strategy if you think blunt force is always gonna work for you!" She'd say with a sly grin in the attempt to grapple. Curious to see how their intruder would react. If his head would cool or what would come next. "So you gonna calm down or are things gonna get messy?" She'd ask almost curiously as if implying there may have been another way to handle this. As to what that may have been or her implications were hard to say just yet. In her mind she still had things handled... But she knew not to overplay a good hand. So she'd wait to see how things would play for this boys hand. "Think carefully now."

Useless.
Haku had spent too many of his days cowering in fear behind a backlit keyboard and bright screens. He lived out of spite and spite alone, and it was this fire to prove those pitied looks wrong. That he could build a life for himself. That he could learn to live happily despite all of his shortcomings.
But now, as he was helplessly bound to a metal chair in a warehouse not knowing whether he'd live or die, it became horribly apparent how much he'd failed. The redhead stared back into the single golden eye of his assailant, the spitefulness and anger boiling into his own cat-like orbs. Not anger at her, no. Carelessly treading into murky water thinking he could walk on it as a God. His flawless mask cracked, revealing everything underneath. He was a coward, a braggart, and, above all, he was pathetic. That was something he came to admit silently to himself, staring down death in the face one last time just as he did all those years ago.
Even still, Kohaku Kirigaya was not stupid. And as the sound of a door swinging open with a loud crashing paired along with it echoed through the warehouse, it gave him time. Time to live for a few minutes longer while the thugs scrambled, time to think of who it could be that emerged as the hero he was holding out for. He tried to focus in on the figure that made an entrance, and only had time to hear an enraged voice that sent chills down his spine before a heeled foot came up to push him onto his back. The impact knocked the wind out of him momentarily, and he could only listen as the arrogant woman continued to run her mouth. Pressure was suddenly forced onto Haku's chest, and he could vaguely make out the shape of a gun clutched tightly in someone's hand. A thug, no doubt.
The hacker's mind wandered as he stared down the blurry barrel of the gun, the mystery man's voice echoing in his mind. A honeyed gruff noise, one that Haku didn't mind hearing in his last moments, that filled his empty husk with hope just by hearing it. It was a voice that reminded the redhead of all of the heroes he heard so much about, even more so about the illegal sort of them that hid under aliases in the chatroom he'd only been a part of for a day.
It reminded him of Sunhawk. What a strange man he was. Already treating a newbie as if he was a part of the crew, even if they'd just met. What a dangerous thing to do, giving someone whose never had anything of true value something to fight for. He wanted to have more days with the chatroom, to see what kind of people they all were. For once in his life, Haku saw them as people and not as stepping stones. They were an odd bunch...
And it made them perfect.
A sudden surge of adrenaline woke him from his daydream, his breaths still shaky from the cold water splashed on his near nude body. Just hearing the man's voice filled him with a second wind, and he squirmed around under the man's foot as he formulated the only plan he could. Kohaku was a coward, but a smart coward, and it was all to get the man's attention. Nodding his head up at the barrel of the gun, the mute hoped that the thug's eyes found his lips when he parted them. His vocal cords had and always would fail him, and his chapped lips were meant to do the talking for him. Enunciating as he mouthed sentences towards his assailant, Haku would say everything he thought they wanted to hear,"Don't hurt him. I have money. We can talk-" It was all true.
There were few things that moved the redhead. Lonely children, hungry cats, and words unsaid to name a few, but it was this man's voice that filled him with something. A vengeful something, a hopeful something...
A need to protect a hero didn't come often to the apathetic, but the beating in Haku's chest pushed him to do more, to be more. To be a hero.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma stopped on a dime. They had guns pointed at him and he was way outnumbered. Fuck... He should have kept a cool head. It wasn't his usual MO to get agitated and rush in head first. That was G's thing. 'I let my concern get the better of me...' He thought to himself. 'I was worried they might kill the new kid.' He looked at the obvious ringleader, the bitch doing the talking, with a scowl on his face.
"What makes you think I can't take you all out?" He bluffed, hard. "I took out your other goons in a matter of seconds. You think you can beat me quicker than that?" He knew he couldn't. He was spent. His skin was just starting to cool down and the adrenaline was wearing off. He hurt like hell. The skin on his arms felt like they had just taken a courtesy trip into a furnace. But this chick didn't know that.
"How about we talk about what you can do to keep from me from tearing you all apart." That's when Haku tried to speak up. His mouth moved but no sound came out, he couldn't quite understand it but he knew he was trying to get them to stop. He offered to pay them just to keep Toma from getting hurt. It plucked some weird chord in his chest. This poor guy had the shit beat out of him, he had been tortured, and his whole being disgraced. But he was concerned about him? The way things were looking Toma was about to join him in his misery.
"How about this." He turned and gave his best pirates smile. "You let him go. I take him out of here. Maybe he pays you, maybe he doesn't that's up to him. And my friends sitting on the other line of the phone on my pocket don't run in and fuck your shit up." He may have rushed in like a fool but Toma never went without a plan. He had explained his situation to LightningStrike and she had demanded to come with him, but he had planned to be more subtle originally.
A voice spoke up from inside of his pocket, a woman's voice. "That sounds like a fair deal to me. But to be honest I wouldn't mind a fight." She probably couldn't make it here in time, but they didn't know she wasn't right outside.

One man took a moment trying to eye what Haku was trying to say. The suited goon gripping the gun calmly as if it was any other tool. But his eyes seemingly staring intently with his brow furrowed as he did his best to try and make out what this one was trying mouth to him. By now they figured this one probably didn't talk or at least was masking the ability if he did somehow have a strong hold on speech abilities. But either way his attention was briefly taken to the movement of lips as he tried to form the possible words in his head. " B-boss...?" He'd say in a light whisper barely letting his voice raise up as the others were talking. Unsure if shouting out or interrupting was the proper resort in this moment holding back his reaction and words lightly for a moment. Her eye would briefly flash to her downed men who stirred lightly but were still knocked out not far off as Nori allowed the man's words to soak in as she mauled over what the man tried to assert and push forward with his words speaking of how dangers he may have been. In some ways she didn't want to sweep it all under the rug as pure bravado given he had handled armed men with relative ease and skill so he had to have had 'some' truth to his words. But as to how much was still the real question wasn't it. " You speak pretty brave, But if you were that strong like you said then why stop when you came in? Allot of talk is all I hear? If you think I'll be scared by some nobody you've got another thing coming. I'm not some street lieutenant you fuck boys can just boast and scare so easily." She'd say with mild anger and disguise as her skin made cracking and light popping sounds. It was as if the sound of grinding gravel and a fire kindling as the flames around her body burned bright and hot. The heat in the room raising a few degrees from it. Her lovely faced becoming incredibly defined with sharp rock like edges. " The guy is mouthing something about money... If that makes any difference?" He'd say softly the man hovering above Kohaku. The other man not far off feeling a little bit of jitters as he wasn't sure how to feel about all of this. Most the men were even the recent months to nearly a year still adjusting to what had happened to Nori's father and the transfer of power from father to son after Thunders crashing party. They all seemed to show a brief reaction to the phone though. Nori's good eye's brow twitching and the look in her eye of anger to such a degree that if looks could kill they'd all have fallen stiff in the building before her. " Seem's you're not as stupid as I initially thought... Maybe I shouldn't have lumped you in with the normal rag tag street justice wannabe heroes. But facts are facts this one owes us a debt... Without some sort of compensation or making a proper example do you really think I'd be better off just letting you go? No... So here's how its gonna work... I'll play ball but only if he does..." While steaming lightly she managed to calm her flames just enough around her forearms and hands as she pulled out her own phone hitting a select few buttons and then turning tossing it to the man hovering over Kohaku. " Only because this entire thing has become incredibly fucking vexing will I offer this." She'd say expecting the good to figure out what he was to do as she continued to explain. " We keep trying to pin down what accounts the money was taken for for our off shore accounts. But it keeps leading us to dead ends. So here's what I'll offer you as a final option. Otherwise we can just smash it out and see who keeps standing." She'd say with a heavy pant as her fist reignited and she squeezed them together so tightly the pops of her knuckles stood out even among the sounds of crackling fire. " If he can show us or 'mouth' us the proper account number to get to and we confirm we get the money back. I'll let him go with the beating as a warning. Option two! If he refuses to tell me an you don't want a blood bath. We can mark him so others know he can be trusted in my peoples inner circles. Or at least that he's a fuck up... Johnny show him what happens when people fuck up!" The man furthest away from the action grimaced a bit but eventually relented holding his pistol with one hand as he bite down on his pinky pulling off the prosthetic finger to reveal a small nub. A ritual Toma may have been familiar with. Yakuza mercy coming always with a price after all. " I either get my money now, His finger, or we can just fight and I'll turn both your skulls into proper ash trays after skull fucking you to death! Now, WHERE THE FUCK IS MY MONEY!" She roared out specifically loud enough so even the person on the phone would hear. The money not even an amount that caused her business problems. But the mere audacity of it if gone unchecked... She couldn't afford to look that weak and have hopes of crushing Thunder one day. Her hands flexed into fists as she seemed fully prepared if things were to turn to violence. " Ironically enough, I guess you hold the power for this moment!" She'd say looking over her should briefly at Kohaku as the man above him held the phone close program at the ready where all they needed was a few account numbers and any passwords they needed. " Just mouth the the account numbers to me... We can handle the rest once we confirm it has the cash." He'd say a bit calmer then his boss. As if this was just what they did, a normal day at the office one might say. Nori feeling anger though and it showed. The vice Toma metaphorically tried to apply had had some effect but instead of causing the beast inside to cowl down had only stirred the beast instead. Like a swift kick to the a angry sleeping down that now stirred away bearing tooth and claw. Liable to take a hand if it was presented a meaty bone instead to bite deep into. " We'll what's it gonna be?" She'd say as her knuckles hardened as they were popped once more and her sneer of vicious intent remained as she turned back to face her invader as well her fires burning so bright even a strand of flame burned strong from her one good eye that still remained.

There was a knowing sigh that escaped his bloodied lips.
Haku knew the mistakes he made led to all of this- to a hero coming to save his sorry ass, to his body aching unlike anything he'd ever felt. Unlike any disappointment he'd felt in the other fools around him, his eyes closed for a second to wallow in the guilt and pity that he was drowning in. How pathetic he was, he thought, in thinking a God such as himself could be worth more than the decisions he made. That someone so sleazy and underhanded could be seen as much more than he was- that he could ascend to Godhood if he convinced himself he was good enough to take it.
But, he wasn't. The redhead was nothing but selfish. Shouting into the void desperately for help out of the hole he'd dug himself was fact of this. Hearing this man and the woman over the phone working to save someone not worth saving moved something in him- a pitiful something- and he did as he was told. Not out of necessity of his own life, or for the kidnappers that dragged on in harming him in the hopes of forcing words out of his silent mouth.
Only for him. For this man that only made his vision blurrier than it already was with bitter tears. Kohaku, swallowing his own pride to put his hero's well-being ahead of his own, mouthed the numbers to his credit card. He was more than confident there was enough to sate their hunger. Though it was technically theft, the hacker never saw it as such. Taking enough for the less fortunate, sometimes even meaning himself, meant that he sat upon a mountain of gold. He lived in a tiny studio apartment because it was all he needed and nothing more. The bare necessities only.
If losing some of his small fortune was enough to keep his hero alive and well, he'd give it all away. He knew nothing of the man that burst through the door to save him. Only that he saw Haku worthy of saving.

feel the light shining in the dark of the night | Toma was furious. The rage and indignation stirred a heat deep inside him, one that threatened to consume him into a fit of fiery wrath. These scum were going to get off easy. The indignation almost spurred him into flying off the rails. Part of him wanted to lash out, throw all caution against the wind, and dole out a punishment befitting the crime. He wanted to power up and burn them all down.
'Fuck." He had to pause. He had rushed in here, already out of character for him, and trying to do anything hastier would only cause loss of life. He hated it. He couldn't fight them all. He couldn't dispense justice. He was immensely outnumbered and woefully outgunned.
He stared the ring-leader down. His pupils dilated with obvious rage. The muscles in his neck tensed as he clutched his fist. Hot air blew past his lips as he steadied himself and held himself back from the fatal mistake he wanted to make.
"Fine." His eyes were still narrowed as shifted his gaze between the Boss and her goons. "You get your money. Now give me the hostage. A deal is a deal." He took a step forward to show that he wasn't scared either way. If they didn't hold up their end of the bargain he would bum rush the gunman closest to the hostage. If the only thing he could do was give him an exit to run, then that would work for him. Toma had never had much to live for anyway, and dying a Hero wasn't such a bad way to go out.

The man took a few minutes dialing up the numbers and waiting for a few replies and updates via the lawyers the family used. It didn't take long before it seemed accounts were being restored. Although moments after they would be quickly drained again as the money was being relocated to more secure investments. Those in place to do so using what had happened as a chance to try and better secure themselves so it didn't happen again. Using different measures to defend their accounts as well as other forms of assets to use as well until they were sure it was all peachy as Nori would want it to be. After the four or five minutes of making sure all was secure the phone would beep for a final message as the man would give a small nod. " It's good... It checked out." Seeming to offer a sigh of relief as if he didn't really want to have to shoot the boy. Flicking out a knife moments after though waiting for a few seconds after it clicked out shining from the storage facilities lights above. Nori snarling lightly to herself before allowing her flames to slowly dim as her skin cracked and popped as the defined features slowly faded. Before long her complexion that wasn't touched by her scars slowly faded back to its pure soft appearance. The image once again of a Yakuza princess that truly did care about what she looked like and her appearance in all ways. "Seems like a awful lot of trouble for a nobody hacker... He must be something important to you." She'd say in a malicious and irritated tone. Her glare even with one eye baring down on Toma as she likely wanted nothing more then to strip him as well and allow her men to go to town on the two. But in truth a deal was a deal even if she didn't really like the final outcome fully. The money was the main concern...
"Cut him loose... We know who is, So hopefully he isn't stupid enough to try it again." Snapping her fingers not needing to look over her shoulder to know those under her employ would do as she asked without problem. A few sounds of light snapping would be made as they'd cut the ties and other securing measures they'd use to strap the boy in the uncomfortable seatless chair. Backing up shortly after he did so returning his phone to his pocket and keeping his gun aimed at the boy. Waving the barrel lightly to one side as if to suggest for him to get moving.
Meanwhile Nori pulling her own phone out and making a quick call as well. "I'd be quick... You're prize is yours now." She'd say as her phone wrong. A older gentlemen on the other line answering. Only small sounds of grizzled hard to hear sounds would be heard to those other then Nori herself. "Yes hello Detective, It seems someone's broken into one of my wherehouses down by the docks. You know the one... Yes the one we dealt with that little issue of yours before. My men will wait to inform you of our problem... You know what they look like so you'll know if anyone's here that doesn't belong." She'd say waving her hand softly at Toma, The words and call clearly a threat in its own way as to imply her reach. Her way of making sure they knew they should get out of her quickly. Holding her phone up briefly there after and in a quick snap taking Haku's picture. Although it wasn't clear if she sent it to who she was calling or simply saved it for later. One followed as well to her masked intruder as well.
