I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ The festivities already started, and Yoru was ready to try out and see everything. He already had a meeting and a few runs on the obstacle course as well as a rather unfortunate collision with a slightly sturdier quirker than what he assumed them to be, but all in all, he could say the sports festival provided enough entertainment to be submerged into. Some of the booths the clubs built didn’t interest him, and he purposefully stayed away from the Reports and Arts clubs, for example. But the rest, he was fine with checking out.
Just like many of his school mates, he was wearing his school uniform, although much leisurely than the school would like. His grey blazer was open, the first few buttons of his shirt undone, his tie loose. With his inner heating system, there was no need for any other clothing even though February was relatively chilly, and while some people had glanced at him wonderingly and nearly waiting for him to shudder in the breeze, he was just fine.
The inside of the school building was filled with people already, watching the clubs’ displays and the various other entertainment the students thought of providing. However, even outside, the training grounds and the sport fields were swarming with people who were interested in showing their capabilities, or just people watching out of interest. Yoru caught glimpses of unfamiliar uniforms that made it obvious foreign students were around, and even a few outsiders were roaming the place this time around. It was no surprise everyone was interested in what Japan’s first hero school could provide for the masses. In any case, at least Yoru could say that he was not disappointed. But the thing was, for them, for the Yuuei students, this was almost normal by now. The training, the battles, the physical exercises were usual, more like everday activity. The audience, however, was what they had to get used to.
While Yoru liked the buzzing and the lively atmosphere of the school, he had to take his time of rest somewhere people would less likely bother him, but somewhere he could still watch others and jump into action when he so desired. The trees of the school grounds were his preferred resting spots, and he was fortunate enough to find a rather sturdy one near the training fields where people were still around but not bothering to look up at the leaves of a tree to find him laying on a branch there. Way above the others, he was able to have better insight to what was going on around the place, it was easier to keep an eye out for unusual things happening.
It would be easy to see someone frantically searching for a precious object they lost, for example.

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? She had been literally everywhere already but near the sports field where the cavalry battle would be. There was one setback into the winning match that Lady was holding against herself or well Rowan but not everyone would understand that they were not the same person. There were so many things that she had done and that also included changing her outfit about ten times. Casual, cheerleader, cooking club casual, cheerleader, sports outfit to train, cheerleader, another cheerleader shirt, her leather jacket over her cheerleader outfit because even if she was promoting it was very cold.
But with all that changing and running from point a to point b and now ending up at point O or something because she believed she had been everywhere already, she realized that she lost her bracelet. It was already on her wrist for four years, so it took a while before she noticed that the familiar feeling was no longer around her wrist. It happened basically like this:
While making her way to the vending machine to buy a drink she lifted up her right arm to twist it to get her bracelet to go down, which was mostly what she did because the jewel was too long for her small wrist. However, she did not feel the familiar sense ticking against her and the sleeve of her jacket so instead of lifting up her hand to push in the buttons to order the right carton of juice she looked in her sleeve and turned very pale. Even if Lady pretended not to care about all those small obnoxious things, it was original her mother's and grandmother's and Rowan had cared a lot about it and that had seeped into the anger of Lady and she looked around. It was kind of obvious she had not lost it seconds ago. "Nooo.." She said softly with a big sign and the corners of her lips immediately dropped. She looked around her and hunched down, not even carrying about her skirt at this point, where was it? She looked left and right, checked her pockets, you never know how lucky you could be but in her case, she had lost it. She stamped loudly with her foot on the ground, she was so angry at herself for not noticing before, she had basically been everywhere today! Her face dropped when she was making a mental list of where she had been. What if it had dropped in the batter for the okonomiyaki?
She felt lost already in a search that did not start yet.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ As interesting as people watching could get, Yoru was getting restless to jump into action. There was something fascinating about having an internal heater, an eternal energy source inside him that fueled him to just go, to do things, to never stop. On the rare moments when he wanted to actually rest and be in one place, he had to resort to shaking his legs or letting his feet dangle down the side of the branch he was laying on, like right now.
Sitting with his feet falling on either side of the branch, with his back leaning against the tree trunk, he laced his arms in front of his chest. The foreign uniforms gave him a certain level of excitement, seeing that Yuuei was indeed not the only school trying to teach and release heroes officially into the world. It was a weird feeling, the quirkers so hated and feared years ago now being trained to be pitted against each other to protect the less battle-ready part of the population. Granted, villains weren’t the only threat here, if the rescue operations they had to go through were any indication. They were able to go against nature itself if needed, but that was beside the point now. His own parents always said they never imagined schools actually teaching children to use their quirks in action as a certain branch of government security. For them, it was unbelievable. Not to mention that their own son was among one of the few studying in such a school. They often burst out in mock tears, saying that their son is making them so proud, and Yoru have to incinerate the tablecloth to make them stop.
He shook his head to get their crocodile tears out of his mind. Back to people watching he went. A few spars were going on at the battle grounds right about now, some people seemed to be involved in a fast paced race on the other side of the range. The rest were just aimlessly wandering around, trying to find what exactly they wanted to do. Another person was throwing a fit at the vending machine. Nothing new.
Jumping down from the tree, he fished out a few coins from his pocket to buy a soda before he would head back and maybe put everyone to shame on that race the exchange students were having. As soon as he reached the vending machine in question, he could recognize the girl standing near it and searching the grass as one of his classmates.
“Did you lose your change? It happens sometimes, either that, or the vending machine swallows it.” He mocked a comment, only noticing her movements and not her possible emotional status while he wondered if it was better to have orange or ginger for a drink now. Only after that did he see her stance, the dejected drop of her shoulders and the fall of her face. He stopped in his movement, hand raised with a single piece of coin toward the vending machine, but now halted in the air. With a furrowed brow, and eyes shining orange as if he was trying to make sense of the emotion her whole body-language screamed at him, he talked to her again, voice more of an annoyed growl than anything else, even though he was only concerned.
“Hey, you okay?” Softness was not something he was able to do right away, so he had to clear his throat and try again, this time sounding decidedly less like he was ticked off by her loitering around. “Something happened?”

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? Well it was not in the okonomiyaki batter, that made no sense because no one came complaining to them, the only reason why no that would happen now if was if someone did not eat it yet or not completely and it might be in the other piece but the pancakes weren't that thick, someone would see a small silver bracelet with a stone attached to it, so that made no sense. She sighed again, she felt so lost already. She looked up shortly, recognizing Yoruhi only as the person who sat in front of her in class, she knew his name only because of that and she shrugged as a sort of defence mechanism, "If only." She did not speak loud enough, she did not have the decency or need for Yoruhi to hear her as she did not care at this point about his opinion. She wished she had lost her change because who cared about the small number of coins. She absolutely did not care about money as she had already shown to Chise when she basically bought most of the store when she bought her cat, which wasn't cheap either.
She wanted to look up angry when his voice was interrupting her thoughts of where she all had been and also as if she was littering around, doing nothing around and that annoyed him. Why did he not just buy a damn carton and walk away again, she had nothing to do with him now did she? "Yes, I lost my bracelet and it was in my family for a while, I can't believe I did not notice before and I don't know where to start looking for it now as I have been practically everywhere." She had no time for this, she had so many things still planned to do and to start the pep rally, how the hell, maybe it was there, maybe she had already lost it this morning during practice! She turned to look at Yoruhi, expecting to be mocked because how important could a bracelet be, boys would never understand, would they? She doubted it and was just waiting before giving a snob reaction herself and storming off to find it.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ He idly played with the coin between his fingers while watching Rowan, listening to her talk. Even he could see she was distraught, that was partially the reason why he asked her about it straight away. He could not deal with people who hid their emotions well, but if someone was as obviously wearing her heart on her sleeve as Rowan, Yoru knew when to at least try and be considerate.
“A bracelet, huh?” Although it wasn’t really visible right that moment, Yoru was a fan of accessories. He was wearing a necklace under his shirt, and a set of chains were hanging from his belt loop as well. His own usual bracelets were left at his dorm room this time, but that didn’t change the fact that he could relate to the problem at hand. He had a bunch of them, but if he lost even one of them for some reason, he knew he would get pretty upset himself.
“Well, let’s look everywhere then. Where was the last place you remember having it?” There was no sudden change, there was just the implication that Yoru will consider this problem as his own and maybe help out in the search without actually admitting to it himself. A subtle shift in his scowl as it softened out was the only facial cue that he won’t just ignore someone else’s sadness. He pocketed the coin he played with before, abandoning the soda he wanted to drink for a bigger cause. That can wait, just like the racers and the students at the training ground. If Rowan was this upset about losing something, it was serious business. Yoru can make fun of her for it once the bracelet was actually found.
“What does that bracelet look like? Made of beads, or is it a thick gold one?” Bracelets can be hard to notice on the ground, especially if they are made of similar material to have the color of concrete or marbles. However it was, Yoru looked at Rowan expectantly, waiting for the answer so they can head out to wherever she last remember seeing it. Or wherever she last walked at, if memory fails her when, as she had said ‘she had been everywhere’.

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? She nodded when Yoru repeated the name of the item that she lost. She held her left wrist with her right hand and she felt so stupid. How could she not have taken it off before a busy day like today? She had always worn it, during every combat training, during Semper Fi training and now with a simple sports event, she had lost it? It was not fair. She felt her lower lip tremble but she was absolutely not going to cry, apart from the fact that tears would not show up, it felt stupid to cry about something like that, maybe Yoruhi would not even understand. She looked up surprised in that case when he said that they should look everywhere because she basically had just said she was everywhere. "I don't remember." She said with a small sob in her throat, "I just am so used to it that I do not check it." She simply shakes her wrist to get the bracelet to slide down further on her wrist, but she does this automatically, as she just noticed because it clearly wasn't on her wrist anymore. "I had it during cheerleader training." Not that she was entirely sure but she had felt it when she moved up the pompons. "I think."
"It's a silver one, with a green gemstone on it." or well, attached to it, in the middle. But Yoru would probably understand that as well. Silver might be difficult to find like that because it was perhaps shiny but gold seemed to be more obvious in case it well on the ground somewhere. Where would she have lost it and why had she not noticed before. "Maybe I should check near where we trained, maybe I lost it directly there?" But then how had she survived the rest of the day without noticing, she must have shaken her hand while being at the cooking stand because it was a habit and it should not be in the batter for the okonomiyaki and so on. While mindlessly walking towards the gym facilities, she tried to think if she had it on still there.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ He hoped, for all things holy, that she will not burst into tears anytime soon. If puppy eyes were one of his weaknesses, crying was another, and it was something he just couldn’t deal with. He wasn’t equipped with the ability to comfort others when they cried, he would probably freak out more than the person he was supposed to make feel better. That would go all kinds of horrible.
So when no tears came despite Rowan being visibly upset, he relaxed. So long as she didn’t panic more than necessary, they will be able to look around and maybe even ask if someone saw the bracelet in question.
“Silver with green gem, got it.” He nodded at her suggestion to check around the gyms where she had her training as well, and stepped next to Rowan, a little forward, to lead her the way. Her spacing out was an indication that she was trying to think where she last had it, or was just simply lost in thought, grieving her loss.
“Why take the bracelet with you when you knew you’ll jump around a lot? Cheerleading is all about that, ain’t it? You were bound to lose it.” It must have sounded a little harsh, but that was his way of showing concern, and as soon as he said it out loud, he knew it could be taken the wrong way. Eyeing her, bright orange eyes boring into her for answers, Yoru was waiting for how she would react to such a statement. He wasn’t one to sugarcoat his words, which gave him enough pain already with those who couldn’t take criticism well. Even if Rowan had a thick skin, in her current state, it might not go so well with her. But despite all of his growling, Yoru was there to help. That should at least mean something. Yoru’s willingness might seem weird for anyone that didn’t know him well, despite his grumpy and high-and-mighty attitude. But the few in class 1-A who were his closest friend would be able to tell that he was a true team player, ready to do anything to make sure his pack members were happy and content.
Once in front of the training facilities, Yoru did not bother to look at the ground. “I’ll ask the supervisors if someone found it.” And then he already bee-lined to the teachers and assistants who were around while the students showed off their skills and practiced for the coming events of the festival. He asked two of the adults, describing the bracelet the way Rowan told him about it, but neither saw it, nor had anyone brought it to them as a lost item. Asking more might be fruitless, in that case. The adults were conversing from time to time, that much he could tell, and they would share info about something lost-and-found.
Scowl deepening just a bit, he scouted back to Rowan, disturbing whatever she was doing. “No luck. No one brought them a bracelet.” He wondered if she found something, or had come up with anything new while waiting.

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? Even if Rowan wanted to cry, they were not able, the power of their quirk shut it completely off and she did not know why maybe got something to do with the molecules and heating it up, she wasn't that good with biology to figure it all out nor did she feel the need to know. She only looked around still, distressed visibly, she did not know where to start at first but maybe considering the start of her day as the beginning meant that she would have to go to the gym facilities were in the early hours of the morning she had trained with her cheerleaders. It was good that someone was with her, taking a step forward as she looked up at Yoru and nodded, she followed him. Her legs automatically went the way to the gym.
Her brain was still at the machine wondering if this was the right way and if it was here and why she had not noticed before. She needed to focus, which felt difficult. She looked up from the floor when Yoru spoke to her and she shook her head lightly, "I always wear it, I have done for about four years, so it never came up to me to take it off even with such an event because it has never been necessary before." She did not know why she felt like he was judging her so bad because they did barely know each other, even if she sat behind him in class, that did not mean they talked any time before. The thing Rowan did not understand was that if he asked her so harshly, why care at all, why help her find it?
When they arrived, Yoru immediately said he would ask the supervisors, they were not there yet this morning and she nodded and went to the part where she had dropped her bags and looked around at the sidelines, the part where they had trained and where she stood was empty but the bracelet was nowhere to be seen on the floor, she hunched down to see if she would see something shiny if she looked any further and nothing showed up either. She just stood up and dusted off her skirt when Yoru returned saying nothing was found. She sighed, "I have been at the plaza most of the day, handing out food, water and having lunch." She looked at the net with the fighting drones behind it, she had been there with Elise and Arthur with Miku but that would count the same if they would have found her bracelet it must have been brought to the supervisors or someone stole it!

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ “Even if you always wear it... I mean, especially if you always wear it, it gets lose after a while, it weakens and then it can fall off. So. Even if you have always worn it, it doesn’t mean it will always stay on your wrist. Eh, nevermind. We just have to find it to see.” He scratched the back of his head idly, feeling like he was unable to properly voice what he meant by that. Things get used up, worn out, hence they often need maintenance, and that includes jewelry as well. His own glass beads needs to be re-forged constantly to have the same shine and quality to them. Of course, he could not know what exactly happened to Rowan’s bracelet at all, but he assumed it simply fell off her wrist during movement. That it just gave up, broke at the seams, something like that.
His conversation with the supervisors was unsuccessful, and it seemed like Rowan did not have better luck either. One look at her made it obvious she found nothing, and was still in panic over how it was possible to lose a bracelet so grown to her soul. “The plaza? Okay then. Let’s head to the food court, maybe it’s there somewhere.” Yoru shrugged, yet again ready to head out toward where Rowan spent part of her day before. He halted for a moment, following her line of sight to the drones, towards where people were still practicing for live battle against machinery. He himself had the chance to try himself against those, and quickly learned that some parts of them was made of softer metal than the rest – he was able to melt them on occasion. “Hm?” He hummed to get Rowan’s attention, then nodded towards the drones. “Should we check the fighting ring? You’re spacing out.”
It was not scolding, he just stated it as a fact. He was still not nice about it though, but if it was a way to spring Rowan into action and thinking more, then it was all fine. He wouldn’t mind checking the ring, honestly. He would just jump in, look around, and then jump out, maybe tip and punch a few drones on his way. If they were able to find the bracelet there, it would be all of the better, and he could get some steam out as well in the meantime. But that all depends on if Rowan deems it possible her bracelet was there.

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? She did not understand the many reasons for the question of why. Why would Yoruhi help her, why would he care or was this a matter of rubbing it at the moment he found it, so he could be her personal hero. She had not talked enough with her fellow 1-A student to know if he was like that or not. There were enough questions to answer with a why not. She did not know how the world always functioned but she did know bits of the arrogance of the U.A. students, she would not say that she did not possess that, maybe not as Rowan, but as Lady she was well aware that she did. She had to keep up with her Rowan mask but the words that Yoruhi said about the bracelet, that it would be worn out when you were it all the time, made her annoyed. She obviously figured that out now, didn't she? "Well, it did until now." She only muttered as the response because she did not feel the need to discuss it. It did while she was training for the football match, it did when she was cheering at the football match and now he was going to say she should take it off. She would more likely lose it that way by forgetting where she put it than actually losing it, she could only not say that as she had lost it right now.
Yes, the food corner would be the best place to start secondly because she had been there after training. Her day had been so long, she had been here the whole morning, training with the cheerleaders, chatting with Arisu and Chiyoko. She wanted to follow Yoruhi but looked at the training drones, she had been there too, twice even, why could she not have felt that she had lost it before, how often did she flip her wrist to put the bracelet down, how many times did she feel, check and make sure it was there and she had not done that? Or she had not noticed she lost it, but she had noticed immediately now. She heard Yoruhi and turned her eyes back at him, "Oh," Yes she was spacing out, "Well, wouldn't it have been brought to the same place as where you just asked?" She said and thought about it again, she basically had watched Elise and she had been in there only about 30 seconds when she was with Arthur, "I don't think it's there." Maybe she should give her conclusion to him, maybe that was only fair. "I think I must have lost it more recently, else I should have noticed before." But how automatic was that process? But before getting a drink she had been here to train, so that made no sense either.
Would she have lost it just on her way outside?

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ Yoru often berated people when he noticed they were doing something wrong. It was a habit, and a bad one at that, but he couldn’t help saying his mind when he could. He wasn’t the kind to keep his thoughts to himself. It was a rather rare occasion when he was completely secretive, and that was only when it came to himself. As for others, he grabbed the opportunity to say his opinion on friends and acquaintances whenever he wanted to. That is why it was easy to tell when he liked or hated someone. He did not hate Rowan, not at all. He was honest and straightforward with her because he cared, but that was not something he would admit. “Well, now it did not.” He countered, knowing that whatever godly power kept the bracelet on her wrist until now had just failed her.
Staring toward the training grounds, they were both weighing their options. “If it was found, sure. But if no one had yet to find it on the ground, the teachers wouldn’t know ‘bout it either.” He said, another reason to be considered. It might still be resting somewhere in the grass, on the concrete ground or on the slag without anyone noticing. Yoru was about to take a step forward when Rowan waved the possibility away. He was ready to tell her they should look literally everywhere before eliminating any place, but her conclusion made sense. He thought for a moment, then nodded. “Okay, fair. You probably know it better anyway. So, where to? Food court?”
He turned forward, somewhat distracted. There was no need to search the ground on their way back, because he did so while walking toward the training grounds anyway. They will not find it on the way, so instead Yoru kept himself busy thinking about what he will do once this mess was over. Hopefully the guys will still be racing by the time they find that bracelet. He was staring blankly ahead, watching the people walk around and a squirrel rummage at the base of a tree with something shiny in its mouth...
Squirrel?
Wait a moment.
Backtrack a little.
“Hey! Look there!” With barely waiting for Rowan to acknowledge his words, he already speeded toward the little mammal to catch it and take a better look at whatever shiny thing it was carrying in its mouth. These little critters were swift, so Yoru expected a painful chase at least. But well. He wanted a race. He could get it now.

HEY YOUNG BLOOD DOESN'T IT FEEL LIKE TIME IS RUNNING OUT? She looked at Yoru with a frown on her face, definitely not her friendly face, what a smartass! "I figured." She said snappily because obviously, it was not on her wrist else they would not have to look for it and why was he looking for it if he found her dumb. She might consider in the future to take it off but the thing was that she would never be able to wear it in that case, the cheerleaders and the classes here, it was ridiculous. She had simply followed him to the training grounds and looked at the ground where she had been training as a cheerleader, her eyes wandering to the place for drone training and Yoruhi made a good point but she was wondering if no one found it there, the trainers sweeping the ground clean after they used the paintball version, they should have been able to find it, right? "I am sure they cleaned up after me." After all, she had dodged, the same as Arthur so there were paint drops on the ground. Unless it was now in some vacuum cleaner but that meant she would never find it and it made her already sad without actually knowing if it was the truth.
She suggested they go to the plaza, where she had lunch with Saiko, after which she talked to Jisatsu in the grass, near the trees. There were too many spots where she had to go and she started to walk a bit faster, she did not have the time to go through everything the whole day, maybe it had just fallen off in her locker when she got her bags switched after practice and switched again before training with Jasmine. She was almost running before Yoru called her back and she abruptly stopped and turned to look at her fellow classmate before noticing where he was looking at. This was no time for her to look at some fluffy squirrel! She had to hurry to follow Yoru and because of that she had no time to call out that this was stupid and useless, she had obviously not seen the shiny thing from her angle.
When Yoru finally caught the squirrel, she felt bad for it for a second, poor thing, whole alone here and now you get caught by some smartass who thinks himse- "Oh my bracelet!" She said as she saw the green gem still out of the little mouth. Why was he chewing on it? She took the end and tried to get it out of it, "Come on little one, let go, it's not healthy for you." The squirrel bit hard in the silver and she froze and took the granola bar out of her pocket and looked at Yoru, "I hope they can appreciate this." She broke off a piece and held it in front of the squirrel while her other hand still held the end of her bracelet, she could imagine that a squirrel would be afraid of the two. While the squirrel got the granola piece, she quickly swiped away her bracelet, looking at it with a disgusted look for the slime on it but at least the silver seemed to not be harmed, but the lock was indeed broken, she must have been stuck behind something but at this point she could not remember. She looked at the squirrel running away, "It's probably lost, I mean shouldn't it still be in hibernation?" She asked softly before turning back to Yoruhi and thanking him properly. She would have never found it if he had not seen the squirrel.
