It was a few days away from the official start of the UA sports festival and students far and wide come and test their skills against each other. A test of quirkers far and wide to show who has the aptitude to become the number 1# hero. It was an event for all the world to see and everyone involved is excited….and nervous. Heroes and students from different corners of the world are coming here with their best and the whole world is watching, such a situation is quite nerve wracking for many within UA. The mere thought of this event is enough to make one shiver for a multitude of reasons. With the current state of the world and how the general populous view quirks, it would drive one to a perpetual state of nervousness. It is quite normal to feel this way but still, the world seeing your quirk in full view is still a nerve-wracking thing to experience.
One such person who is feeling the full force of anxiety is none other than Feng Yao, a student of class 1-A of UA. Since she has mostly avoided confrontation with people against quirks for most of her life, she is quite nervous that it would bring unnecessary attention to both her family and friends. Coming to UA has changed her view of the world quite a bit as did meet new individuals and overhearing their various backgrounds and such. The realization hit her like a truck as she remembered the first incident that would spurn her into coming to UA. The attempted attack on her and her father while on their way back from home. If her participation in an event would cause more incidents like that to become more often. With the spread of information and how easy it is to find, it’d be simple to find her friends and family. Though her mother calling her to say she is coming to see this live is both comforting and makes this situation even worse. Are half of these worries unfounded? Maybe.
But with all these worries in her head, she is ready to do her best in the festival. Training as much as she can before the start of the festival, but she hasn’t had a clue on what representatives of the other schools can do. These thoughts occupy her mind as she takes a casual stroll through her school. After all the training, its nice to take in the scenery of the school occasionally. Meeting all these new people really expanded her world view on how diverse quirks are. Though it brings up the question is there someone else in the world with her a quirk like her own. The possibility is there, but it’s a bit disheartening that someone shares her moveset.
It’s a lovely day out for a walk, helps soothe the nerves. The birds were singing, the sun is shining and there is a soft cool breeze blowing through. Helps clear the mind after a hard day of training. Feng takes in the fresh air as she walks through the school while the committee puts together all the things needed for the festival. Loud, but also shows how serious everyone is about this event. The sounds of all the work bring the entire school alive. But the sounds of meowing can be faintly heard in the distance. As Feng went to go check she sees a cat who is stuck up in a tree. A cliché situation to be fair but the poor thing got himself stuck up there. No owner in sight so one can assume that it was a stray that got in while everyone was busy. She checks around if anyone was looking and no one in site it seems, so she takes a deep breath and hops up the tree to save the cat. Poor little thing was scared but she soon coaxes it out and brought the cat down safely.
“I wonder what got this little guy lost in here “, she says outloud as she plays with the cat.

Julia Dawson was never one to ignore a crisis, no matter what the kind. The young English girl, said to be one of the most intelligent students at the Valiant Institute, had been in search of her schoolmates when she heard the cries of a frightened cat. There the helpless creature was, trapped up a tree with no trace of an owner in sight.
“Oh, you poor thing!” Julia exclaimed. Fortunately for the cat, however, she was by far the most equipped to deal with this kind of situation (in her own not very humble opinion). Her limbs were very noticeably mutated into the shape of large coiled springs. All she had to do was release her legs and this would be solved in moments.
And so that was exactly what she did. Her legs burst into action with a comical boing and propelled her body into the air. She spread her arms out wide as she honed in on the cat, ready to seize it and bring it to safety –
...only for another girl to leap up out of nowhere and catch the cat instead.
Julia was so caught off-guard by this she ended up flying past the girl and landed flat on her face on the other side of her tree. It was, needless to say, one of the most humiliating moments of her life. Her cheeks smarted more from embarrassment than pain as she slowly picked herself back up again.
“Well, then,” she remarked, still speaking her native English. “It seems I’m not the only person around with a Quirk that allows super-jumping.” Being bested by someone with a similar Quirk stung far more than she had ever thought it would, and she could not help but pout. She was rather letting the Institute down....

“Oh apologies! Didn’t see you there!”, She exclaimed as she saw the woman get back up from that fall.
Since Feng was so focused on saving the cat, she failed to notice the person standing near the tree who had the same idea as her. As she landed safely and heard a thud behind her, she heard her talking in English. Somewhat surprised at the fact that she ran into one of the rivaling schools’ representatives, its one she can understand clearly. She took a deep breath and slowly pet the cat, she had to choose her words carefully to someone of her position.
“The world’s a big place, but this is also a bit of a shock to me…” She replied to her statement in clear English. This woman seems rather odd to say the least. Maybe it’s the accent or how she’s talking, but this person seems rather full of herself or least that’s what she seems like. Thankfully she can speak English perfectly well, so this exchange will have zero misunderstandings or errors.
“I assume that you are one of the students from Valiant Institute that’s here to participate in the festival.”, she says assuredly. From the looks of her, looks like her quirk is more on the nose than Feng's. Though from tone of her voice, she seems to have a bit of an attitude. Though she has to be on guard, can’t assume she isn’t participating in the same events as her.

Julia had certainly not been expecting the other super-jumping girl to speak English. Judging from the girl’s accent, she must have been American.
Even better, Julia thought glumly. A bloody Yank.
This also meant the other girl had understood Julia’s remark about not being the only super-jumper around, which was rather even more embarrassing. As if the situation could have possibly gotten any worse for Julia. If a car decided to drive past and kick up a puddle in her face, followed by a piano dropping out of the sky directly onto her head, she would not have been surprised at that point.
Her pride was thoroughly pummelled, but she held onto what was left of it with everything she had. It was all she could do. She straightened up and squared her shoulders.
“Yes,” she said. “I am Julia Dawson of the Valiant Institute’s House Nightfire, hero name Slinkee. And who might you be?” She recognised the other girl’s uniform as belonging to UA, the very school the Institute had come to Japan to compete with. Wonderful. Not only was there another girl with a Quirk like hers but this girl would be competing in the Sports Festival also. And just like that Julia felt an extra heaping load of pressure to prove herself and her abilities...

“My name is Feng Yao of UA, hero name of Typhoon Dragoon”, she answers honestly as she pets the cat a bit. Not much to say about each other quirks since both of us already touched on that subject. But her attitude seems a bit rough around the edges, all things considered. Something about her rubs her the wrong way, maybe it’s the fact that she spoke English may have thrown her off. Still trying to process that there is another person here with a quirk like hers.
“Valiant Institute, huh? Pretty fancy name for a school…” she follows up as she thinks about it. Their uniform is quite fancy with the colors and emblem, though it’s a bit too fancy for her tastes. Not a huge fan of the emblem, swords and shield is a bit generic for an emblem design but maybe it’s just her. The House Nightfire? Do they separate their students into houses over there? What’s the point of that kind of system? Questions for the future. Though that’s quite a mouthful when you say that all at once. Still, this is the competition that Feng is going to deal with in the sports festival. Looks like she’s going to train a bit more if she wants to be ahead of the competition.
“What brings you to this part of the school? The Festival doesn’t start for a few more days..”, She asks as the cat starts to fall asleep in her arms.

Julia huffily shrugged her shoulders at Feng’s remark about her school’s name being overly fancy, feeling a sudden strong need to defend it. “It’s named for our founder, the Pro Hero Sir Valiant. He was the first vigilante in Britain to be made into a fully-fledged Pro, and he’s also our current headmaster. You might see him at the festival if you’re fortunate enough. He’s a big man with an even bigger red beard, so he’s rather hard to miss. My favourite Pro Hero back in Britain is my housemistress Lady Nightfire, though. She’s so cool...”
Yet again she felt pangs of embarrassment upon being asked what she was doing there exactly. Any more embarrassment and she was probably going to drop dead from it. “I was just having a look around the city. I was actually with the rest of my schoolmates but I became separated from them somehow, so I’ve been trying to find them. You wouldn’t happen to have seen a tyrannosaurus wandering around with a group of Caucasians in uniforms like mine, would you?” She sighed. “Sometimes I think they do this on purpose to annoy me. Honestly, they probably do. Bunch of degenerates the lot of them.” She frowned a little. “Well, why are you out here if the festival’s not started yet?”

“Never seen a group like that around here in these parts, they’d be pretty easy to spot. “She answered her previous question and then immediately responded the second question. “Training ! The schools best of the best are showing and I want to be at my best!” she says energetically. Feng then remembers that she is talking to a rival school member but wouldn’t hurt that the competition has been working just as hard as them.
Though this girl is snappy when it comes to her school’s pride. From the sound of her explanation of the schools founding and her fervent love of her hero house(?), it’s a school that must house some strong heroes if they are like this. But her opinion on her peers is a bit much if one can put it lightly. There’s still an air of unease around her. But it could be from the fall and Feng taking her chance to save that cat. When Feng looks down at her arms, it appears the cat ran off whilst their conversation and went into one of the main building. A few seconds of thought and it’d be dangerous for a cat to running around with all the commotion happening now with the festival. Panic immediately sets in as the thought of the cat getting hurt or worse.
“THE CATS GONE, WHERE DID THEY GO”, Feng yells as she runs off to find the cat. It does bring up the question as to how the cat sneak off while it was in plain view. But that will be more questions for the future on top of the ones she has already. A interesting thing to do today to say the least.

Julia herself had not noticed the cat vanish seemingly into thin air, which she found odd. Normally she thought herself more on the ball than that. Could cats have Quirks? What if the cat had some kind of teleportation Quirk? Could that be how it had gotten stuck in the tree to begin with? She dismissed such thoughts as ludicrous. Cats did not have Quirks.
Suddenly, Feng was running, clearly in a panic. Julia hurried to keep up with her.
“Do you want me to help you find the cat or something?” she asked. She glanced around. “I don’t see any sign of an owner anywhere. It could have been a stray. Did it have a collar? I also don’t know this area at all so I wouldn’t really know where to begin looking. But I suppose I’ll help in whatever way I can.”
Returning a lost cat was hardly the most dramatic or flashy of heroic exploits, however to Julia being a hero was not about how fancy you were: it was about how many good deeds you did. She was not aiming to become a hero for the attention, like Melissa, or because of family legacy, like Arthur; she might have been a condescending, overbearing bossy-boots, yet she really did want to help make the world a better place deep down. Even through small things like rescuing someone’s lost cat.

“No clue, people have been saying that cat has been here since morning. I appreciate the help, I’ll treat ya for some food if we got the time after! ”, She says with no hesitation. Rival School or not, an accident could happen if that cat is left to roam the school during a busy day. Though she hasn’t the slightest clue on where the cat went off to. This school is huge, its gonna be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Maybe lure it out with pet food? No that would mess with people with certain mutations. Maybe a cat whistle to save some trouble? Wait do those exist? Do they even sell those at the store? So many thoughts are going through her head that her sense of logic is going to many places. She takes a second to empty out her thoughts and regain focus on the task at hand of finding this cat. The stakes are the most meaningless, but Feng came to this school to be a hero, no matter the task at hand.
As the duo was running around the school halls trying to find this mysterious cat, they would make a stop in the garden. At the corner of their eye’s they would spot the cat somehow got to the roof of the main building, napping on the edge. Normal responses would include panic, worry, relief, panic but with more feeling, confusion and determination.
“ How did the cat even get up there?”, Feng says with a puzzled look on her face. She swore she doubled checked the rooftops, but how did that cat even get up there. It’s either an oversight on Feng’s part that she did not see the cat or this is not your average run of the mill cat. She can’t use her quirk as easily here to as it would prolly be a bit dangerous and against school regulations.
“ I guess its your turn to catch that cat ...”, She says as she turns to Julia. Truth be told, her version of her quirk seems better suited for this kind of situation than hers.

The promise of food made Julia’s stomach audibly rumble.
“I suppose it has been a while since breakfast,” she remarked. “Alright, it won’t hurt to get some food after this.”
And so a wild and frantic chase across the UA grounds began. Julia could not help looking around in awe at just about everything, almost as though she was an alien seeing the world for the very first time. How could she not be fascinated? It was the first hero school ever to exist, without which her beloved Valiant Institute may never have opened at all. At the back of her mind she wondered if she was allowed to go some of the places Feng ended up leading her, but she also did not care if it meant getting a closer look at the famed UA.
I’m really here. I can’t wait to tell the girls back home about this. Though they’ll probably laugh at me for this particular cat-based escapade...
Julia was just beginning to wonder if the cat had gone in an entirely different direction to them when they saw it. It was atop the roof of the main building, of all places, visible to them from a garden area Julia would have quite liked to have explored under any other circumstance. Alas, that was not her current focus.
“I honestly have no idea,” Julia said in response to Feng questioning how exactly the cat had managed to get up there. It was a bloody good question. Perhaps the cat truly did have a Quirk?
Regardless, Feng turned to Julia and put the cat’s rescue firmly in her hands this time. Julia swelled up with determination to restore her damaged pride and puffed her chest out.
“Of course I can!” she proudly declared.
...Could she? The UA building was rather large, not as large as the Valiant Institute but not far off either. She was not at the level where she could leap whole buildings in a single bound, as much as she wanted to be. But she could not give up. She had to prove that she, too, was a capable springer. (Was that the term)?
She glanced around for anything of assistance and spotted a flagpole sticking out of the UA building that was within her reach if she extended her legs and arms to their fullest. From the flagpole, she would be able to extend to a part of the building that jutted out, and from there she could make a jump to the roof.
So, this was what she did. She was not afraid to fall. A lifetime of experimenting with her Quirk alongside two siblings that shared it meant she had developed an immunity to that fear. After dealing with the flagpole, her leg-springs released with a loud boing and propelled her from the jutting out part of the building to the roof a metre or so from the cat, which she somehow did not startle.
Julia let out a quiet sigh of relief at having made it and approached the cat. She scooped it up under one arm with a soft ‘there, there’ and stroked it with her other hand. She approached the edge and waved to Feng. “I got it!”

“Nice catch!”, Feng exclaims as she gave Julia a thumbs up. This girl knows her stuff when it comes to using her quirk. Looks like that fancy hero school over in London are just as serious as UA when it comes to hero work. Though that house system is a bit much but to each their own. Though the biggest question is what exactly is this mysterious feline? Does it have a quirk? Can animals even have quirks? Quirks that make people look like animals are normal but a animal with quirk is something else entirely. She wonders if Nightfire girl here has the same idea as her, but she’ll worry about that after she comes down from the roof.
“Looks like our school has some real competition if everyone at your academy is serious about hero work”, She says as Julia carefully comes down. Prickly first impressions but this girl has some spring in her step when it comes to hero work. Despite it only saving a cat, a hero does their best in any situation, no matter how big or small the problem is. Though a small part of her hopes to meet this girl in one of the events to see how she uses her quirk in action. Similar our quirks may be, but the deciding factor is how we use it in the heat of danger.
“Now we got this cat back safely and we don’t know if this cat has a owner, lets get some food and give this lil’ guy some food..”, Feng says as she pulls out her wallet and pets the cat. She did promise she’ll treat her and she has the funds for it but what kind of food should one get today. A lot of choices in terms of food available but what kind of day does it feel like? Burger and Fries is a bit heavy but still need something filling and won’t interfere with training. Hmm, she’ll just decide on the way there while we get some cat food.
“Just for conversation topic, what is your school like exactly and what are the heroes like overseas? ”, She asks earnestly.

Calmly and carefully, Julia made her way back down to the ground in much the same manner as she had climbed up, though she moved much slower due to the fact she now held the oddly chilled out cat. How the creature could be so nonchalant towards the craziness around it was beyond her, as was the fact it had not even tried to claw at her once.
She finally reached the ground with the cat in tow and smiled at Feng cheerfully. She felt a lot better about herself now that she had been able to use her Quirk in a useful manner, and was now beginning to believe that perhaps the American girl was not so bad after all. Maybe she could even say she had made a friend.
Then, Feng asked her about her favourite subject of all, her school. Her eyes could not have lit up brighter. “It’s simply the most wonderful place I’ve ever known. All I’ve wanted my entire life was for people to look at me and feel safe instead of freaked out, and it’s the one place that can help me reach this goal. The teachers are all former Pros so I don’t think it’s too different from your school in that regard. Lady Nightfire is my favourite Pro Hero of all time and I’m so happy to have her as my housemi –”
The cat suddenly came alive and sprang free from Julia’s grasp. Julia gasped as the cat grew in size and shape, the majority of its fur receding into its body along with its tail. It stood up on what had been its back legs to reveal it was, in fact, a rather dishevelled middle-aged human male, though he maintained cat-like ears and eyes in his human form, and thankfully there was enough fur remaining on his legs to hide anything the two girls really would not have wanted to see.
“You’re a person!” Julia exclaimed from behind a hand.
The cat-man scratched his backside in a most crude and uncouth manner. “And you’re very observant, spiral-arms. Geez, can’t a guy get any sleep? I was minding my own business, you damn kids!”
Julia’s cheeks flushed and she looked off to the side from embarrassment. “We’re very sorry, sir, but we had no idea you were really a human!”
“Human?” the man huffed. “To hell with that. I’m a cat through and through, I just turn into this sometimes. Figured it’d be easier to talk to you two in this form, since you’ve decided to kidnap me!”
Julia could barely believe it: a cat with a (mostly) human transformation Quirk, or so he claimed anyway. Apparently cats could have Quirks after all.

The cat has been saved and Feng has made an international friend in the process! Its good to have someone who shares a similar quirk and shares a passion for heroism. Now thoughts go through her head as she thinks about what kind of school Valiant is. Must be a real good school if it was able to have these kinds of students be at this kind of skill level. She contemplates on what the duo should eat as she the money as she doesn’t spend much on herself.
Julia talked about her favorite subject and from her response and passion, she can feel her words resonate with as they walk with the cat. As they were talking, the cat started to move about which both surprised and confused Feng along side Julia. Animals with quirks is not an impossible but rather rare considering how people would react in this day. But still, this is a sight that is both cool but also quite surreal. Its like seeing a movie character come out of the screen and started eating your lunch or something along those lines. As the cat began to speak, she started to think about what kind of food this guy would eat, considering we did bother it while it was napping…well mostly Feng since it was her that bothered her first.
“This is… surprising”, Feng said as she blinked to make sure she wasn’t going crazy. As the cat spoke and lashed out at both for disturbing his nap. He then immediately started assuming we were kidnapping him, which would be both bad to assume so and is quite rude of him to assume that. Feng took a deep breathe to calm her nerves and the went with the flow of things.
“ We honestly did not know sir, we heard some meowing coming from a tree and some people were worried. The school is busy around and it’d be bad for anyone to get into accident around here. We apologize for disturbing your sleep..”, Feng said as she bowed in apology.
“Damn straight, I came here to get some shut eye from all the ruckus going on in the city and both of ya’ll assumed I was a cat stu-“, as soon as the cat started to go into a rant, his stomach began to rumble as its about time for lunch. It was the perfect chance to calm the situation down. No matter how mad one is, food will always get back to their senses.
“Is it safe to assume you’re hungry too? To make up for the fact that we disturbed your nap, I’ll treat all of us to lunch. It’s the least I can do for troubling you.. ”, Feng said as she held her hand out. The cat is both hesitant to take up the offer but also it’s the chance of a free meal. The only thing to worry about is what to eat, since it’s a group of 3(?). Though she wonders what the Julia and the Cat are hungry for. Many ideas go through her head as she tries to think up something real good for all of them. Maybe start out with Tea, but wheres the best tea house since giving them the vending machine stuff would be real rude to do.
"Well...if you are offering, It'll make up for my disturbed nap I know of a bakery that has some good pastries from what i heard around there..", the cat earnestly as he gave it some thought.United under a new order of filling their bellies, Feng immediately checks her phone and looks up directions and prices. After checking her phone for the directions and the prices, she explains to Julia and the group head off to the bakery to fill their bellies with all sorts of sweets and the like. In the end, looks like Feng made a new friend from Europe and learned of a bakery that is amazing. All in all, this confrontation ended without a skip.
