“come to the boys dorm hall 2morrow, principal asked us to play for the opening of the festival, so we’re practicing, some idol's coming so we gotta play one song with her but we free to rock after that! ps: those who dont come are little bitches”
It was the straightforward and very Darren-worded text that the delinquent had sent the day a few days ago to Chimera, Eli and Miku. The last two had never practiced with the band before; Eli just told him recently that he felt good enough about his guitar skills to join, and Miku he only heard through word of mouth that she played the drums. This worked out perfectly with Levi and Hayley quitting school -- and therefore the band. Ever since then, OD Hazard, as they called themselves, got very little practice time in -- it was hard with just a singer and a bassist, after all.
The practice session went rather well. Everyone could play their respective instruments competently, and while they were not gonna shred their heart out or play even Chuck Berry solos just yet, they could play in rhythm and function as a coherent, on-key musical unit, which if you ever played music with other people before you know is an achievement in and of itself. They decided to split off the setlist as usual: each of them would get to pick a song, so they would play four in total, plus the one with the idol, crushcrushcrush by Paramore.
And today was the opening day of the festival. In other words, they were about to play.
A big stage had been dressed outside the school grounds, right in front of the main building’s entrance. Darren and the others were waiting in a classroom close to the entrance; from the window, they could spy all of the other students waiting in front of the stage, listening to the principal talking, foreign students as well, their parents, even a few cameras. Not nearly as much as they were gathering for the actual sporting events, but still. Cameras. Actual cameras that were going to upload high-definition images of them playing in front of a number of people that could be qualified of "a hell of a lot".
Under these circumstances, even the brash and loud Darren was getting a hint of stage fright. He couldn’t help but keep banging his heel on the ground to the rhythmn of blues shuffle, fingering the G string (of his bass, perverts) to the same rythmn. Unamplified, his Telecaster bass didn’t give off any sound, but still. “Okay guys, that idol girl should be here any minute. Then we’re gettin’ up there. All y’all better not freeze up there, or I'm kickin' your ass on-stage personally,” said the guy with the guy with the janky knee. It would still be a few minutes before they got up there. Surely it would stop by then, right?

Eli paced the classroom that the band was in. He had recently told Darren that he was good enough to play in the band finally, but he didn't expect his first performance to be so soon! At least their rehearsal for the gig went well. The group had stayed together and in rhythm much better then Eli thought they would've, so it made him less nervous then if they would've had a bad rehearsal. Still, the amount of cameras and pure size of the audience caused his mind to panic. What if he messed up? What if he couldn't keep the rhythm? What if he caused the whole thing to become a train wreck?
Eli took a deep breath and took his shiny black Ibanez guitar out of its case. He had asked his uncle to buy it for him specifically for his performances, and he had done just that, though for now it wasn't paid off quite yet. Eli picked up his instrument and started strumming the high E string, making sure it was in tune. He did this for all six of his strings, remembering the string order due to the saying: 'Eddie ate dynamite, good-bye Eddie.' Once he finished tuning, he played a few notes to warm up, and to calm his nerves. Now he knew what Melody had meant by saying that playing piano calmed her down. Eli was the same with his guitar.
Eli set his guitar back in his case next to his amp and looked out the window towards the stage. He was gonna do this! Despite how much stage freight he had! He looked towards the audience and saw many of his fellow students. Many were his friends, and a few hated him, but in the end he was still him. He was gonna conquer that stage!
Darren's attempt at a reassurance speech made Eli smile a bit, the fact was, Darren was scared too! Through the whole tough guy persona he had, stage freight still affected him! "We got this you guys!" Eli shouted without thinking of how the others likely noticed how timid and scared he himself was. Nonetheless it was a good effort in Eli's mind, and it even gave him a bit more confidence! He picked up his case and slung its strap onto his back. His amp was directly under his left hand, ready for him to pick up when they were ready to go. Eli was ready to play! "So who's this idol that we're waiting on?" He asked.

Miku saw a text message on her phone. And it was Darren being typical Darren. "PS, those who dont come are little bitches................... charming" she said to herself as she finished reading the text. But stil, she was excited to play in this band, she wondered how and why Darren chose her? Maybe it was because Levi recommended her to him.. or because she left the school. Ah, sad times. But now it was her turn to shine and show everyone that yes, she can play the drums. Granted she is a bit rusty, she didnt play the drums for 2 years, she only recently started playing them again after a bit of encouragment from other people. She practiced by herself as she didnt want to fail Darren and the band. But mostly Darren. Miku then got ready and went to the practice session with the band The practice session was fine. She managed to relax easily and play her instrument well. It was good enough for the band, but for her who had an ear and a knack for playing drums, she knew she could do way better. She felt she still didnt return to her original level. But as long as the band was happy, so was she. And then came the big day. The opening day of the Sports Festival, a very special event, it would be the first time Miku played live for someone. Miku was in a classroom nearby the stage with the rest of the band. Darren was nervous, he had stage fright and even though Eli tried to encourage them, even he was a bit nervous. Miku would be lying if she wasnt a bit nervous herself. She took a deep breath, breathing excercises would calm her down. Only when she calmed down did she notice that Darren mentioned an idol girl. "Yeesh, idol music and idol girls... But still, that might be good. The focus should be on the idol. Im just a drummer in the back. No one cares about the drummer. I'll just be in my zone and play like a Boss" she thought to herself and hyped herself up for the big show "Yeah Darren, dont worry, we'll be awesome and play the heck out of these instruments" she reassured him, and then threw in a joke "But if you freeze up there, I'm waltzing over to you and kickin' your ass on stage then and there"
she then giggled a bit at her own jokey comment. She needed it. It helped her be calm

572 WC less diva, more divisi | Somehow one of the loudest, boisterous-est, and generally jerkiest guys in school had become Chimera's friend and band-mate within the first few weeks of his U.A life. Darren was probably low on the list of people one would expect Chimera to hang out with--their personalities couldn't be further apart--and yet here he was, waiting with the madman himself and their two newest additions to the band, prepping for their very first big gig. It was exciting and nerve-wracking and all sorts of good old nausea-inducing stage fright fun. Yet, it was a shame that their original guitarist and drummer wouldn't be here for it.Nothing against Eli and Miku, of course. The former was cheery guy with a whole lot of energy to spare, and Miku was his classmate, although he didn't know her super well. They'd been great with him and Darren in practice.But...it just wasn't the same without Levi and Hayley. Maybe Levi would be in the audience cheering them on. She definitely come. She had to. Right?Right...?Those thought at least kept him distracted from the fear of singing in front of the whole school well enough. Chimera was humming his scales while sitting on an unused spare speaker, a bottle of water in hand, the other tapping the beat to the song he'd chosen: No.999 by go!go!vanillas. His tastes were eclectic as always but, hey, it was a good song to pump up before a fight to, and here they were playing the opener to a sports tournament. It fit! And it was a bit lighter on his throat than the harder songs he was singing today. The fun part, though, would be singing with someone he didn't know.A professional idol, no less.Chimera was not a diva. He had absolutely no problems sharing a stage or the mic with anyone. Still, it rubbed him the wrong way that this idol hadn't bothered to come and practice with them beforehand so he could get a feel for their singing style. Everyone had their own. How was he going to mesh with somebody he'd never sung with before? How were they going to sing with a band that had never played with them? They'd need some insane talent to pull that off, and as for him, well, he was pretty damn good, but not that good. So, yeah, maybe he wasn't thrilled to share the stage with them. Maybe they'd surprise him and be some charismatic singing god that melded perfectly with them. Or maybe they'd be the weak link and make them all look bad.He really needed to calm down or he was going to swallow the mic."Such a merry band we are," he said in a tone way too flippant for his mood, grinning to show off his canines, "How 'bout we hold off on threats until somebody's actually screwed up? Keep positive? Pray that I don't screw up any of the Japanese?" That was a joke; he had been singing it non-stop for the last month, even before picking it for the set-list. He wasn't going to flub. Not on the lyrics, anyway. Freezing up in the spotlight, though...?Come on, you're a hero. What's an audience compared to a villain? Emi even trained you up for this. You got this. We got this. Definitely. Probably. I hope. |

Post by Rin Kurama on Feb 9, 2019 12:52:44 GMT -4
WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy There were about thirty minutes till the little show got off the ground. Rin was currently having the final touches done to her appearance, as per instructions by the record company. Decently dressed. That, lawfully, did not mean what Rin had thought it would mean. The girl's ravenblack hair was currently crimson red. Brushed and washed till it appeared like strands of silk, likely being equally as smooth and soft to the touch. Perfume had been applied, so that if someone got close enough to catch her scent, she'd have a very delicate scent of flowers and sweets. Not enough to be overpowering though. The girl's shoulders and back were bare, almost all the way down to her hips. Bare, aside from several straps of black leather keeping her outfit from falling completely apart. It was all neatly tied together by several small clasps. The custom fit tunic was strapped exceedingly tight to her frame, making her not only appear thin as a stick, but also made her bosom stand out. It did make it slightly difficult to breathe normally though. From just above her elbow, a pair of black and red gloves were strapped. A pair of matching dark/red boots began from the middle of her thigh leading downwards into a fairly high heel. It had taken some effort for Rin to even walk around in these, let alone give a performance. To sum it up, Rin was practically wearing a prison, feeling entirely and completely confined. All the while, at display for others to stare at. Even the maid uniform at Honey Honey hadn't felt this bare. ***It was quite a daring image.***What an awkward situation to find herself in. In fact, it could hardly get any more awkward than this. Aside from Jasmine Noir, not a soul at Yuuei knew about her little music endeavour. Frankly, Rin hadn't expected it to lead anywhere or amount to anything, so it'd have been empty boasting to explain to the general student base at best. Then as soon as it had begun kicking off, Rin had felt captured by the fact that she hadn't told anyone initially. Then, naturally, the one in charge of her contract had found it a good promotional opportunity. Get some publicity, earn some extra fans, earn him some extra money. There hadn't been any arguing with him. The contract would've ruined Rin at any attempt at escaping. Thus, all she could do, was prepare herself. Pacing around in a circle, the time was ticking away until she had to meet with the band. Naturally, for promotional purposes she couldn't have been allowed to do things on her own. No, there had to be a correlation between the heroism of Yuuei and the music of the record company. Darren, Chimera, Miku and Eli. Out of the bunch, Rin only had personal encounters with Darren and Chimera. One she quite enjoyed spending time with. The other... not quite as easy a fellow to be around. As for Miku, Rin had only heard positive things. If Rin wasn't mistaken, Haruuhi had once spoken fondly of the young.. blonde, was it?... Eli was someone Rin had occasionally seen type in the student's chat. Not enough to have any opinion on him...The door was knocked, time was nigh, so with soft steps, Rin moved together with security man Bob. His name wasn't actually Bob, but he had been too stiff and too uptight for Rin to have an honest conversation with him. As such, she had given him a name. At least with a name she could relate to him slightly better, than a stonefaced security guy. They arrived at the classroom where she would allegedly have a few moments to speak to her schoolmates. To introduce herself. So bloody awkward. Bob opened the door for her, as Rin stepped inside. The idol had arrived. Perhaps it was the clothing. Perhaps it was something else entirely, but despite feeling exceedingly sheepish, the overall image that Rin gave off, was one of mild confidence and calm. Frankly, there were so many things she was more frightened of than this performance. Taking a deep breath, Rin said but a single word. Spoken in an almost singing voice. "Greetings." A soft smile upon her lips, the sentence was spoken in a manner, where Rin herself was almost certain that they'd all recognize her immediately and begin pelting her in questions. In reality though, she wasn't exactly easy to recognize. What she was wearing, how she was portrayed, how she was being escorted... It was almost hte exact opposite of her regular everyday life. "I'm Scarlett. As you probably figured."

More waiting was to be had. Eli and Miku tried the reassurance game. It somewhat worked; Darren snickered at Miku’s joke. “Aye, if I put on such a shameful display, please do,” he joked back. He turned to Chimmy. “You’re the one who picked a Japanese song,” he remarked, then grinned. “I’m still kickin’ your ass if you mess it up!”
Darren’s knee had calmed down, but it was still a bit janky.
“It ain’t hard,” he continued, unclear if it was to reassure everyone or himself. “Just go up and play. We’ve done it before, in that maid cafe…” He looked around. Right. No one that was here now had been here to witness that. “Right. You guys weren’t there. Oh, well.” He got up grabbing his bass by the neck. “If we burn down in flames, it’ll only be in front of the whole school, parents, and cameras. Less people than when we’ll be pros. We’ll be fine!” The delinquent grinned again.
His… Questionable motivational speech got cut short by the attention-grabbing sound of the door opening. In came a big security goon and a red-haired idol. She looked… Well, like an idol, thin and slender, with Japanese ideal proportions, not too tall, the chaste demeanor commanded by Japanese society contrasted by the outfit, not revealing enough to incur the wrath of rating agencies, yet more than enough to suggest what was to be suggested.
Normally, Darren’s thoughts would have been occupied by rants about how terrible the entire idol industry had been for the Japanese music scene for decades, how it normalized the practice of barring artists from having any creative control over their performances, how the whole thing was just a fake money scheme, how indie music was so much better, etc. But right now, what he was worried about was the fact that this girl looked familiar. Fuck, since when are idols familiar to me? How the mighty have fallen, thought the delinquent and his inflated ego. He shook his head. No way he knew a bloody idol. They all looked the same anyway, it must have been from the advert bombardment every fucking where.
Yeah, that was it.
“Right, hi,” he answered. “I’m Darren. Ginger’s Eli, blondie’s Miku, goat boy’s Chimera, but we call him Satan Mercury.” He looked at his watch. “Bloody hell of a fuck, it’s ‘bout our turn. Get up n go, OD Hazard, and let’s fuck this concert in the mouth!”
The janky knee was almost gone now. Almost. (ooc: i suggest we let Rin make our stage entrance for dramatic effect)

Eli grinned as the group made fun of each other and joked on who would beat whos ass for freezing up. He was so glad he had decided to take on guitar lessons and gotten good enough to join OD Hazard! Now he was finally gonna play in front of an audience, even if he preferred it was a smaller one. He was nervous yea but there was also the part of him that couldn't wait to get out there and shred some guitar! Once again Darren tried to reassure everyone, but this time it kinda worked. mentioning the fact that there wasn't near as many people watching them as there would be when they were heroes. Before he could say anything to keep the encouragement going, the door to their waiting room swung open!
The girl they had been waiting on had arrived! Finally everyone was there! Eli looked at the new arrival named Scarlett. She had red hair and definitely looked like some kind of idol. To Eli, it was weird that the girl was about the same age as the rest of the group based on how she looked. He didn't really know what he was expecting but it wasn't what he got for sure! She was accompanied by a security guard who gave Eli the creeps. He always hated how celebrities never got to go anywhere without a security guard! Then again it wasn't his decision to make.
As Darren introduced everyone, Eli waved to the red-head. Once again before he could continue though, Darren announced that they were about to go perform! Just like that all the nervousness kicked back in and he thought about what he might mess up again. The delinquent grinned nonetheless, and grabbed his amp. This was his first performance, if he was gonna fuck this up, he was gonna do it in style, regardless of the amount of cameras. He was ready to head to the stage!

Darren snickered at Miku's joke. That was good. Miku really didnt understand what beef Akio had with Darren. He seems like a cool guy.Or maybe its the fact that Miku just got used to guys like Darren. She didnt put much thought into that and just had fun with her gang.
Until... Lo and behold, she finally came. The crimson diva who calls herself Scarlett. And... she was nothing special, just another pop icon diva idol that will fade away once her popularity drops. She really is no different then the other ones of her kind. But Miku didnt really care, the girl came to sing and she will sing. Darren soon introduced the band to the idol, including Miku "...blondie’s Miku..." When he said that, Miku greeted the red head "Yo" all chill and alike and just focused or tried to focus on her instrument. When Darren looked at the watched, he realized it was time. Everyone now was getting ready to go on the big stage "Time to rock the house" Miku thought and got ready She like the rest of the band, plus the extra idol went to the stage to perform. When the time came, she would play and focus on her rhythm.

Post by Chimera on Feb 15, 2019 12:27:22 GMT -4
554 WC sniff sniff | Chimera raised a playfully offensive finger at Darren as he got called out for picking a Japanese song to sing. Hey, when in Rome. Or Japan. The jab was in good humor, though, and just as aimed at the whole band as it was himself. If they fucked up then they would fuck up spectacularly. On live television.
Don't choke, Chime. The show must go on.
As was most dramatically appropriate, the arrival of their missing singer coincided perfectly with Darren's speech--if one could call it that--ending, and Chimera's ears perked up to the sound of heels and footsteps coming down the hall moments before they arrived. The idol was...dressed for something, certainly, but Chimera wouldn't call it high school concert attire. Was that mandated by whatever label she represented, or was it her personal choice? It wasn't until she spoke, though, that he recognized her name. Well, stage name. Scarlett was one of the newest names in Japanese pop music. He'd heard a few of her songs and, hell, even been gifted a few posters of her over Christmas by one of his friends. Meeting her in person was kind of dazzling.
He wasn't going to admit it in front of Darren, though. He had a burning loathing hatred for the idol industry. Admitting that he listened to an idol's music--let alone owned any of her merch, would get him lectured to no end.
And maybe punched in the arm a few times for good measure.
Chimera stood up and gave Scarlett the best smile he could manage with his nerves doing loops in his stomach. Okay. Okay, so he knew Scarlett's singing style well enough from her songs, but now he was going to be singing with her. Christ on a bike. What would even be her opinion of him? A mutant front-lining a band? And that goddamn nickname Darren gave him was not helping. "That is not an official stage name," he chided semi-seriously, then approached him and Scarlett, stopping a little bit in front of her. Would the bodyguards try to dislocate his shoulder if he tried to shake her hand? Would she even shake it if he offered? He didn't know her as a person, just as a voice in his speakers. Still. With as much courage and as friendly an attitude as he could muster he held out a paw. Claws retracted, of course.
"It's nice to meet you. Ready to share the mic?"
Up this close he could make out her scent--weird to think of it that way, but when one had a dog's nose, it was unavoidable. He made out her perfume, but there was something else, similar to...synthetic hair? He blinked. Was Scarlett wearing a wig? Unless one of her bodyguards was wearing a toupee. Then again with her hair color it wouldn't be too ridiculous to learn it was fake.
...and why was there something really familiar about the rest of her? Sure, he'd seen her face on posters every day. But that didn't account for her scent.
Had he met her before?
Maybe she was in the same circles as Serperior, and the two just had a similar air to them. Except he recognized Mikhail Orlov a mile away. For. Reasons.
Then...what was it? |

Post by Rin Kurama on Feb 21, 2019 10:24:50 GMT -4
WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy To say that Rin was baffled would've been the understatement of the century. The sentence had been clear. As you probably figured, I am Scarlett. To Rin, that had basically been an admission that she, Rin Kurama, was in fact Scarlett. That little fact however, seemed to be completely lost on the entirety of the group. Especially Darren, who began introducing friends to her. Completely dumbstruck, Rin just stood there half a moment, looking at Darren as if the boy wasn't even really there. The introduction of the two Rin knew the least of, was so tame that it really didn't teach her anything new. Miku and Eli may as well still have remained strangers. Not that Rin was expecting this to have any kind of proper introduction. The way it was sold to the band, was probably not the healthiest either. You'll get to perform with an idol, enjoy this opportunity. Rubbing her cheek, the girl remained mostly quiet. At least until the introductions were over. Plus the different reactions to Darren's introduction. Surprisingly, the band seemed more uniform than Rin would've imagined. With Darren, it was always a surprise when things came off uniform. As evidenced by his little hinting that Chimera was nicknamed Satan Mercury. Inwardly, the girl facepalmed hard enough to fracture her own forehead. Outwardly, she offered Chimera an awkward, understanding smile. "I somewhat figured it might've not been. Anywho, my pleasure meeting you all." Rin spoke, in the same almost singing voice. Taking a few steps back, the girl really was stunted. They hadn't recognized her. Did that mean she was meant now to roll with it, pretending that they had no clue whom Scarlett was?.. Did it mean that it was time to creep to the cross and confess?.. Shuddering, Rin decided to simply roll with it. Then after the concert, she could always contact the individuals in private, rather than dealing with it on any larger scale. Yes, that would most definitely be preferable. Clearing her throat, she then addressed Chimera directly. "..We'll have our own mics out there." Rin replied blandly, as if his comment literally meant they'd be holding onto the same microphone. From there, the crimson haired female continued. "I am instructed to essentially fill in for any weaknesses in your voice or performance. As long as you give it your all, I'll manage the coordination and covering. So pay no mind to my pressence, simply do your own thing, I'll handle the rest." It was a confident, yet bold claim. Rin had grown rather confident in her own voice, and her ability to perform on a stage wasn't bad either...In addition, the way this whole thing was dealt with in the media?... Essentially it was presented as an idol giving the heroes of the different schools a blast of an opening. Playing with them, singing with them, essentially giving them music. It was not hyped up as a professional Scarlett concert, which meant there was less pressure on her shoulders to make it come out perfect. Bob the security guy rolled up his sleeve, tapping his watch. It was an indication to Rin, that they needed to begin making their way to stage. The idol gave him a somewhat tilted head expression. They installed a mouth on you, Bob. You're allowed to talk. Rin's expression spoke it clearly, yet the security guard didn't budge. No words were spoken. "...Riiiight, thanks, Bob." Turning to the band, Rin softly gestured towards the door. "Time to get moving, we're on in five."

Darren answered Chimera with a big grin and displayed of his own middle finger. And then the idol came in. He was nice enough to introduce her to the band, and an obviously starstruck Chimmy -- he was getting a lecture, yes -- offered a paw and asked if she was ready to share the mic.
Normally, Darren would have playfully shot back at Chimmy, something like “aww, but you love that name,” but the way the idol answered made his blood turn. Who the hell did she think she was, treating his boy Chimmy like an idiot? Of course they were gonna have their own mics, he wasn’t stupid -- but what she implied next popped a vein on his forehead. Cover for his “weaknesses?”
“Our Satan Mercury doesn’t have any weaknesses that need covering for, thank you very much,” he couldn’t help but snap back, his disdain for the industry marked pointedly in his voice for a sentence. He gripped the neck of his bass, closed his eyes for a second, thought of the principal’s words. Get along, or you don’t play. That was fine. They’d just have to blow her out of the water with their own songs if she was gonna be like that.
Thankfully, it was time to get moving, which provided the perfect distraction. One song, done and gone, Darren. You can bear one song. That doesn’t make you a dirty sell-out. Right?
He wasn’t so sure, so he just headed for the door, inviting the others to join with a nod in its direction. “Come on, OD Hazard, let’s go,” he said. On the way to the stage, he walked in front, fingering his bass, soundlessly practicing the bass lines of the songs they were gonna play. Out of pettiness, he almost didn’t practice crushcrushcrush, but he figured it would only make them look bad themselves.
“So, first we do crushcrushcrush, then the idol leaves. Where does that leave us with our setlist?” he finally grumbled, looking slightly sideways at the rest of his band and taking precautions not to look at Crimson or whatever the fuck her stage name was. “I say we close with Chimmy’s song, it’s the right kind of sing-along all-guns-blazing banger to close a set on. That or Search and Destroy. Come As You Are and Kiss the Sky should fit all nice in the middle, third n' fourth.”
One time did not make a habit, but right now, Darren sounded… Competent. It was not a common occurrence, but for once Darren knew what he was talking about and sounded like it too. Probably half of the time Darren saw his father, it was backstage of a concert or around some kind of live set-up for rock bands of varying degrees of popularity. There was always a sound engineer, a roadie or a band member asking him about the setlist while he was telling his dad about his latest football match or the bully whose teeth he sent flying with an elbow. Over the years, he had picked up on a few things.
“Your pick, Chimmy. You wanna go second or last with your song?”
The last song in a concert was always the big banger, the one people sang along to, the last impression you wanted to leave in people’s heads. He tried meeting his friend’s gaze with a nod of confidence; by proposing Chimmy’s song should go last, or straight after Rin’s, he was giving him the opportunity to make a statement with his voice. Show the world just what made him OD Hazard’s singer, why even someone as prideful as Darren happily retreated to backing vocals when sharing the stage with Satan Mercury.

Eli had yet to hear Chimera sing other then the previous practice they had, but even he knew the guy had skills. The nerve of this idol to say she was here to cover his weaknesses. The same girl who had neglected to show up to the rehearsal that the group had scheduled. Eli began to develop a slight hatred towards the idol industry, part of it was probably Darren's own feelings, but part of it was just how the girl acted. He gave Darren a 'I agree' look and then got lost in his thoughts again. It was as if she thought just because she was an idol that she deserved so much more than anyone else, which he found idiotic. What made her any better than them? A stupid costume didn't make her better then OD Hazard, and Eli decided to not give her the time of day to respond to her at all. Regardless of the reasoning behind these feelings, Eli knew Darren would be proud.
The duo of OD Hazard and stuck up idol Scarlett was about to go on! So he didn't have time to dwell on the feelings that he had developed. He picked up the amp and headed out with Darren leading the way. He decided to not pay attention to Scarlett, she irritated him, but he had to focus on their performance. While walking, Eli acted as if there was an air guitar in his hands and fingered the notes and rhythms of the songs they would be playing. He still hated that they were opening with the idol girls song choice, but at least it was only one song, no encores with her!
At Darrens comments of the song order Eli made a suggestion, "I say we do Come As You Are third, but I haven't done a performance yet so it's more up to y'all. I definitely agree that it should be one of the two middle ones though. It doesn't have the 'banger' that the other two do so it makes sense." Come As You Are was a classic song to Eli, but that could have been because he grew up on rock n' roll. He wasn't sure everyone else would like the song, but he still thought most people would know it, even if it was an american tune. Hell sometimes it seemed like half the school was Americans. There was no way it would go unrecognized! Either way he would enjoy playing four out of five songs. The idols choice in music just didn't work for Eli. He was a Rock boy, he wouldn't be caught listening to...whatever that genre was. Eli continued walking and waited for Chimera to answer Darren. He couldn't wait to wow the crowd with an amazing show!

While Miku only heard Satan Chimera Mercury sing once during their practice, she had already deemed him as a dang good singer. But this girl, this chick, she thought she could just come in here, waltz in here and tell em that she'll 'fill in his weaknesses' as if she owns the place!? She had no idea who she was dealing with. Luckily Darren was swift to give her a piece of his mind, along with Eli who mostly just agreed. Miku had to agree with em "Aye! Tell 'er!" If Miku knew they were gonna deal with a stuck up pampered ass, she would've chosen Bloodline as her song to perform, instead of Kiss The Sky, which she only chose because it was nice and tame.
While UA always thought Miku was a shy and nice cinnamon roll, they didnt know she was raised by a metalhead and had a pretty contrastic taste for music for someone as sweet looking as her. She hated and loathed the girly bubblegum idol teen pop trash songs and the whole industry that chugged out that vomit of music. She was raised by a metalhead and was a true metalhead herself. When it came to music, she was no sweetheart, she knew how to toughen up and yes, she bites.
Luckily, her hate for the vomit industry was calmed when she heard that they had to go out and performed. Good, it was time. She can be in her element. They all walked to the stage, Darren spoke about the order of songs they'll do. Eli made his own suggestion too "Honestly, Im fine with whatever order you guys pick. Im down, I'll play. But, in the end its all up to what Satan wants" Miku said and looked at Chimera to see what he would decide. Whatever it is, Miku will drum away

851 WC play nice, punks | Ah, his attempt at a friendly greeting was not only rebuffed--frankly and, honestly, a little coldly--but his offered hand was either unnoticed or ignored by Scarlett. Chimera pulled it back and held it at his side. Maybe "share a mic" wasn't a phrase used in Japanese? He still wasn't sure what metaphors and allegories translated and which ones didn't. She appeared to have taken it literally. Or she thought he was a moron. Which her going on to explain what her role would be among them didn't help to clarify in the slightest.
Is she the type of person not used to talking to people? She's so blunt. But she's an idol. Wouldn't they train her on how to speak nicely or something?
...why is that sort of speaking so familiar, too?
Chimera's muzzle scrunched up in thought, though it could have been mistaken for unease very easily, and he let his band-mates speak without bothering to vouch for himself. Or correcting them on the nickname again. At this rate it was going to become an actual stage name...wouldn't that be fun.
It wasn't until he heard his actual name--sort of, it was another nickname, but at least it was in the general area--that his ears perked up again and his eyes flickered to Darren. "Buh?" he said intelligently, then, coughing, corrected himself. "Last would be awesome. Since it's the one I know best I'm less likely to choke. Means we can have a really strong finish. Uh, but, um, is she leaving right after her song? I thought she was with us the whole time..."
They were already moving into the hallway to head toward the stage, so Chimera followed suit, staying closer to Darren rather than trying to talk to Scarlett again. Still, though, his gaze kept falling back onto her, perplexed. Her mannerisms, her blunt and literal way of speaking, and her scent were all so familiar, but he still couldn't put his finger on why. She didn't look like anyone he knew. Not with that bright red hair. But that could be a wig if his first instinct was right. Maybe if she had a different hair color he'd recognize her? It was hard to just cycle through different colors in his brain, though. Blonde? Nah, she was definitely Japanese. Brown? Mm. No, nobody he knew had brown hair that long except for Hye-Rin, and she was far too recognizable thanks to her Quirk. Maybe a different, equally crazy color...?
Man, if I saw everything in black and white like a real dog, this would suck.
...wait.
Chimera didn't break stride, but something in his expression shifted as a few puzzle pieces clicked together in his head. Black hair. If she had black hair about that same length, and darker eyes, then Scarlett would look almost exactly like Rin. But...Rin? An idol? An idol in a skimpy outfit like that, with bodyguards on either side? Who hadn't said anything about becoming one to him? No way. No freaking way. That couldn't be her. Rin would have said--
She'd gotten him signed a Scarlett poster and CD for Christmas.
She hadn't explained how she'd gotten them except in a really vague way.
...oh holy hell.
"I--uh--" Chimera started to talk, but Miku had called on him again, and his head swiveled to look at her, confusion clear on his face. What were they talking about again? The set list. Right. That was important. But this was important, too! How did he even ask Scarlett if she was Rin? What if she wasn't and he made a huge ass of himself? And what if she was? Was she keeping it hidden on purpose? Oh no, if he called her out and he was right then Darren would never let her live it down. He'd tell the whole school.
So he kept his mouth shut. If it was Rin, she'd say something, right?
And if not then maybe he could ask her later. Rin. Not Scarlett.
Oh boy and he was going to be on stage with these thoughts in his brain. Shit.
"I'm good for anything, honestly," he said quickly, forcing a toothy grin, "Been practicing real hard. Um. So. Yeah. Though. If we do crushcrushcrush first, I'm not going to have any part to sing, will I? Maybe...we shouldn't do that?" He looked at Darren, almost anticipating the argument that would come from his suggestion, and spoke in a softer voice to him; "I know you don't like idols, but if she's singing first then I'm not going to be the backing vocals on the very first song. That makes me look bad, doesn't it? If we put her second or, heck, second-to-last, then she can be backing vocals until her number and we don't look like she's the headliner and I'm the runner-up."
It wasn't his real thoughts on the matter, but he doubted Darren, or anyone else, would listen to him if he tried to say "Why don't we all just get along". |

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Rin had obviously meant no offense with any of her behavior. For the most part, she was behaving so casually around Chimera because she considered him a friend. A dear friend, even. For the most part, the two odd balls had gotten along quite fine. Rin was not sure whether it was presumptuous of the record company to assume there'd be weaknesses in Chimera-san's vocals, or whether the little band was presumptuous to assume that Chimera-san would keep up with someone that had singing as a professional career. To Darren's snide remark, Rin simply shrugged. The girl had come here with the information she was given, a job she was given, a role that she was to perform. If Darren wasn't liking the way she spoke, he was more than free to take it up with the record company, as they required her to lay some amount of ground work before they'd get on stage together. As the others very quickly joined in unison, Rin facepalmed inwardly. Somewhere she was glad that it was an idol they were turning their dislike and distaste on, rather than Rin having to explain and defend herself for saying what she had been told to say, offering what she had been told to offer. Perhaps having an alter ego for stage performances would prove beneficial for these kinds of things. As Chimera-san asked whether Rin would be participating in the entire concert, she turned her gaze to him and shook her head. "There's expenses to having me here. The security for one. I'm only meant to assist kicking off the whole thing, then you'll take over and run the show. I hope that's not a problem, Chimmy-san." The girl explained quietly, not noticing she had just called Chimera-san by an odd nickname. A nickname that the others weren't likely to pick up on, but it was a dead give-away for the boy. A dead give away...Turning to Bob, she then inquired. "Bob, if the crowd is calling for an additional track, what am I supposed to do?" Rather than answering the girl, he reached into his pockets and dialled on his cell-phone, handing it to Rin. Blinking confused, someone picked up on the other end. It was the record manager. "Uhm, Hello...?" There was a short moment of silence from Rin's end, though they could hear an annoyed male voice on the other end. "It's Scarlett. I'm just wondering... if the crowd gathered asks for an additional track, how am I supposed to proceed?...." More silence, as they simply kept walking, their destination coming ever closer. "Uhu?.. Right, okay. I'll inquire with the band here, then. I'll be seeing you monday." Even before Rin had properly hung up, the body guard had stretched his arm out towards the idol, accepting the phone back as soon as she was done with the conversation. Narrowing her eyes at him, she truly didn't appreciate his behavior, though it was unlikely to change. For whatever reason, he had chosen to keep the idol at an arm's length. Almost an observer, rather than an actor, in this whole ordeal... "Right, so, if the crowd is going loud and we're kicking rear, I'm meant to sing something else with you, to not disappoint any fans. If you're willing, of course." Rin spoke in a calm tone, looking around the members of the band. With the atmosphere, she'd not have been surprised if they'd laughed comically at her. "Since I somewhat picked the first song.." Rin really didn't, it was entirely forced upon her by the record company. "..the pick for the second one would be entirely up to you. A cover of something you like, or something you've practiced." Rin was trying to be in her best light at this negotiation. Afterall, she had very little influence on how things went. All she could do, was her best, taking this interaction one step at a time, one song at a time, one problem at a time. Hopefully, it'd all work out. Coming to a halt, the little group was now reaching the backstage area. Humming to herself, she was warming up her voice ever so slightly. "Thoughts..? Ideas?"
