Fenghuang high is a school of heroics from Northern China. The school opened only 2 months after UA, but its existence was kept secret from the world until very recently. The school's students were selected to attend by the government, rather than voluntarily enrolling. Many of both the western and eastern world consider their methods dishonest and inhumane, though information on what actually happens at the school is scarce, as the Chinese government has kept it all secret and under wraps. The school seems to be more of a military institution than a hero school. Reflecting this the uniforms look near-identical to Chinese military uniforms, and all their students fall in line.
NPCS
Here is a list of the NPCs attending the Sports Festival from Fenhuang High:
Ren ZhenyaQuirk: Fireworks. Allows the user to fire off parts of their body like fireworks, for example a finger or a hand. Once fired, they can be steered but not stopped and will explode on impact; the bigger the body part, the bigger the explosion. Firing these body parts does not cause harm to the user, but he must wait a few minutes for his bodyparts to regenerate before being able to use them again, and is unable to fire his head or torso as that would kill him.
Personality: The top student in the class, Ren comes from the Shangai middle class and is brimming with pride and arrogance. Having worked and studied hard to get selected for this new school, he looks down on those he judges to be less deserving -- that is, about everyone -- and does so very openly, not hesitating to call for his classmates to be expelled to their face. He is equally brutal and ruthless in a fight, never holding back one degree of his strength. And since that strength is nothing to scoff at, he gets a well-deserved reputation as the strongest and most terrifying student in Fenghuang High.
Huang LanQuirk: Automobile. While looking (almost) human, the user’s entire body is actually arranged like a car: his stomach is a fuel reservoir, his eyes can light up like a headlights, his eyelids open and close repeatedly like car wipers, he honks like a car when his nose is pressed, his articulations, bones and muscular mass are replaced with a complex system of articulated drive lines, and even his skin feels like a leather seat. Most notably, when he is fighting, the valves of a turbocharged inline-4 engine stick out of his back, where his engine bay is located, powering his limbs, giving him strength, speed and durability well above a that of a regular human. When he is not fighting, the engine is swapped for a much quieter electric one, but his physical abilities drop back to these of a regular human.
Personality: Born in a rural province of China as the third son and fifth child of a couple of farmers, he was immediately abandoned once his parents saw a tiny one-cylinder engine poking out of his back. He was lucky that her softer-hearted mother stopped her husband when he went for the shovel and stowed him on a train to Shangai. Perhaps it was a little less lucky that the government immediately decided to take charge of the mutant baby, as his early life consisted of experimenting and home-schooling, but he got specially tailored clothes, toys to play with when he was a good boy and all the high-octane gasoline he wanted, but it turned out luck struck a third time when the scientists reached the conclusion that it wasn’t possible to replicate his unique body artificially. He was put in a foster family for the time being, but when Fenghuang High opened, he was soon drafted once again to serve his country. Such a life left Huang a socially detached adolescent, caring little for the company of other people. He displays an obsession for everything mechanical, which he identifies with much more than what he calls squishy blood bags. He is generally considered a little creepy among his classmates as he often mumbles to himself about turbo pressure and fuel mixture, except to Cheng, who took a liking to the quiet kid.
Jin ChangQuirk: Wirework. Allows the user to make any jump at high speed as long as he can see the landing point, even without momentum. It can be used to jump long distances or up and down buildings without injuries, but once a landing point is picked, the user cannot cancel their move and must travel the distance unless impacted by an exterior force (such as being shoved).
Personality: Coming from a poor family living in the Guangzhou slums, Jin had to work the family’s street food cart from a young age, learning to cook a variety of asian street foods as her family moved around to where the tourists were and adapting to their tastes. While she does not dislike cooking, it is not however her passion; early in the morning, when there were few clients and she had to mix the dumpling paste for the day, she could be spied practicing her kung fu moves, saving all her tips to pay tournament fees until the government took notice and enrolled the girl into Fenghuang High. Humble beginnings have made her into a humble and diligent young lady, doing her work and practice with an ever-present smile, always helping out her juniors, always trying to better the day of everyone around her.
Cheng YoungQuirk: Magnus Spin. The user is able to control the spin of objects they touch for a while, allowing them to curve the trajectory of thrown balls by controlling the Magnus force or enhance the rotation speed of serating discs, the two main ways in which this quirk is used. It helps little in generating speed, but thanks to his height, long limbs and strength, Cheng has quite the powerful throw to compensate.
Personality: A half-American, half-Chinese student born and raised in Hong Kong, the kid quickly took an interest in the game of basketball, and his naturally tall height of 188cm doubled with natural talent and love for the game soon took him to the highest spheres of Chinese quirked hoop, dominating under the rim with skill and power and outside the paint with the incredible shot accuracy his quirk afforded him. However, it also drew attention to him and his unique quirk from the government, who decided that his skills would be better used as part of the new hero program. And of course, the school didn’t have a basketball team. Unhappy with his forced enrollment in the program, he is dismissive about hero work and much prefers shooting hoops, talking to girls or goofing around, earning him the scorn of his more serious classmates -- which he couldn’t care less about, driving him and Huang into an unlikely friendship.
Zhao Shou (Dragon Form FC)Quirk: Mei Long (Sleeping Dragon). The user is able to metamorphose himself into a ten meters long Chinese dragon. It make him able to swim through the air, leaving his four limbs available to use his weapons of predilection together, and his tough scales protect him from harm.
Personality: Born and raised in Shangai, in a working-class family, Zhao Shou is the model chinese citizen, proud of his country’s five thousand years history and always willing to represent it first chance he gets -- though he gets a little too earnest about it. Particularly engrossed with the romance of the Three Kingdoms, he fights primarily with dao, jian and qiang, respectively the Chinese saber, sword and spear, and has become an expert in their usage. Trying to talk to him is trapping yourself into listening to a lecture about Chinese culture and history, unless you ask him to spar, in which case he will equally annoyingly recite the merits of Chinese weaponry and martial arts as he is fighting. He is always happy to talk about the subject of his passion, but he is completely oblivious as to how annoying he is to everyone around him when doing so for the umpteenth time.
Fan LangQuirk: Luna Moth mutation. Gives the user the appearance of an anthropomorphic Luna Moth, making her able to fly. Alternatively, she can form a cocoon around herself for defense that she can burst out of at any time, but she cannot fly or really do much while cocooning, obviously.
Personality: Fan Lang is a bubbly fourteen years old, excited to participate in the tournament. She can be an airhead in everyday situations, but she almost seems like another person when doing medical work -- focused, diligent and efficient, she treats her patients with the utmost care and respect. Far less motherly than Jin, being rescued by Lan has been described to feel like having been rescued by your little sister. In her free time, she enjoys flying around as fast as possible.
