Jack didn’t really know if what he was doing was causing any real commotion or not.
He had just arrived in Tokyo about a couple of weeks ago; the reason, of course, was to try and enroll at U.A. High. Granted, the acception period was a bit longer away than what Jack had originally thought. He had already gotten his hotel room paid for, at least, so he wasn’t about to be homeless during said period. He was definitely wise enough to learn at least the basics of Japanese as well, so he could at least comprehend what people were saying, even if he himself had trouble speaking the language.
Of course, all of this didn’t mean that Jack would just sit on his hands and wait patiently for the date of enrollment to arrive. He decided to use the last couple of weeks to try to hone his abilities, as well as just get some overall exercise. This, of course, included your basic jogs around the district, lifting weights at the various gyms, and some good ol’ fashioned cardio.
Oh, and maybe a bit of honing his ability to transform his entire self or seperate body parts into that of a bus-sized dragon, of course.
He tried to keep the matter of his Quirk as quiet as possible, wrapping his tail around his waist to make it seem more like a fancy belt than anything else. It wasn’t exactly hard to keep quiet, either; that was just something that the boy was already good at to begin with. Luckily, there were plenty of vacant forests around the city of Tokyo as well, which served as a perfect place to practice changing in and out of his draconic form, trying to maintain it for as long as possible.
However, this didn’t stop rumors from spreading, of course. As he was walking towards the forest for another bout of training, he could hear people around him talking. He couldn’t understand much, but he could make out two words very clearly: “Dragon” and “Forest”.
When he had tried to get information from the locals about the matter, he had eventually come across people who could actually speak English, so he managed to get a good amount of info about the rumors. Apparently, according to people, there was a dragon the size of a whale, it’s scales whiter than snow, currently making its home in the forest. It was because of these rumors that most people were afraid to go into it now, for it was unknown whether this dragon was hostile or not.
He didn’t really know how to reply, considering that he was the dragon in question. He had NO idea where the extra size came from, though. People’s minds were ever imaginative, he supposed.
This didn’t stop him from continuing to go to the forest, of course. The rumors just meant that people would likely stay away, which, frankly, Jack didn’t mind in the slightest. He knew that he would eventually have to come out about him being this supposed ‘mythical’ dragon, but for now he would prefer to keep it quiet, at least until he got enrolled into U.A.
He had spent several hours in the forest at this point. He spent most of his time in the forest’s clearing, where there was more than enough room for him to transform without hitting anything. He especially practiced his flying, which was probably what caused people to take notice of him to begin with.
This training more than made him battered, however. As the scales would retract into his body as he reverted, a good portion of those scales would leave cuts all over Jack’s body, making it seem like he was scratched by a baby bear or some kind of small predator. He sat on the outskirts of the forest after he had finished, taking a lot of deep breaths as he waited for the cuts to close up on their own, which usually didn’t take long. He was getting better, he supposed. The cuts were becoming fewer and fewer by the day. Hopefully that meant that he would soon be able to transform without injuring himself in the process.
Maybe then he could safely come clean, though he didn’t really know how people would react. Dragons were rare, after all. Even if they WERE teenagers with snow white hair.

Hye-rin was the type to get distracted.
It wasn’t a problem, at first. Her brain would simply wander harmlessly to other matters that intrigued her more- watching cat videos during homework time, staring out the window of the car when her father is speaking to her. As time went on, it became more of an issue, when she nearly got hit by a car chasing a butterfly. Or, maybe the turning point was the time she didn’t eat for an entire day because of video games. One more level, she would think. But, as time passed, one turned into two and suddenly the entire day was gone.
Whichever it was, Hye-rin didn’t think it was a problem at all! She lived day to day in her own head, making up stories and fantasies as the hours went by. Her latest one was imagining herself as a knight, slaying down a ferocious dragon and saving the day! She’d head back into town after on her stead, the dragon’s head pulled behind on a wagon for all of the townsfolk to see. It was definitely an odd thing to think about, but the teenager had to think big!
What could have sparked this idea in her head? Perhaps it was her playing too much 'Story of Link' to think straight. Or… was this the rumor surrounding the dragon’s nest in the forest just a few blocks from her apartment building?!
Equipped with her replica sword and shield, Hye-rin set out to vanquish the mighty beast herself! The sun had been out for some time when she decided to go on her quest, and she wore light clothes- a tank top, shorts, and sneakers- so she could easily style on the overgrown lizard when the opportunity presented itself. Tiny rose buds were evenly placed along her arm and across her hand, looking like small red and pink freckles on her light skin. Luckily, she avoided the strange side-eyed looks by taking a few alleys to get to her destination, quickly cutting through a park to arrive at the dirt path that lead into the rumored dragon forest,”You’re no match for me, Mister Dragon,” The flower girl spoke quietly to herself, yet put on what she thought was a heroic voice as she started down the path, her head held high and her chest puffed out like a true warrior,”I’ve taken down plenty of house flies with my quick reflexes and well-timed sword slashes, so you’re going down.” The girl was smart enough to know that these rumors couldn’t be true. Dragons weren’t real, and the most she’ll probably run into is a random runaway komodo that she could outrun. However, the girl was also dumb enough to come ill-prepared with a plastic shield and fake sword. If Hye-rin ran into trouble, she’d need to rely on her martial arts skills against a dragon. Which, well…
She was doomed if the dragon’s nest wasn’t just a rumor.
The forest got denser before the clearing came into view, and Hye-rin had tripped over three too many tree roots along the way. She shielded her eyes as the sun came through the trees in front of her, stopping at the base of one of the bigger trees to take a peek into the clearing itself.
And there was nothing- no signs of any dragon or other large reptiles in the area. It obviously left her a bit disappointed, and she crossed her arms and pouted for a good minute before continuing straight through the clearing to the other side to unexplored territory. Truthfully, in the few months she’d been in Japan, Hye-rin had barely explored much outside her neighborhood. It had to lead somewhere, and she was always eager for adventure! Skipping and tripping a couple more times, she eventually made it to the end of her journey as the trees became few and far between. It was the other end of the dirt path she’d followed in, and a whole new and quieter part of town stood outside the forest’s rooted walls just a few meters further down the path. Accomplished, Hye-rin put her hands on her hips and let out a satisfied,”Hmph!”
However, the lizard that scurried around near her had other plans. The girl’s eyes locked onto it, slowly reaching for the hilt of her replica sword that still swayed at her hip,”So, you’ve decided to challenge me, Mister Dragon.” Knowing entirely well that it was simply a normal everyday lizard, Hye-rin still drew the plastic sword that wobbled cheaply in her grip as she pointed it towards her enemy, who looked on blankly,”I, Kang Hye-rin, will send you to the shadow realm!” Her voice got louder as the sentence carried on, flourishing her sword overdramatically at the reptile. There would be no animal abuse going on here, but simply her standing with her legs parted swinging a fake sword in the direction of her ‘mighty’ foe. Hye-rin was much more of a geek than she put on, but it was all part of the fantasy narrative she was currently playing out in her head!

Maybe I should start practicing transforming individual body parts more...no one would see a sudden dragon head on a teenager coming…
Jack mused inside of his head as he sat towards the edge of the clearing, waiting for the cuts on his body to slowly but surely heal up. Honestly, he had never gotten much practice with transforming, say, an arm or a leg individually, though he knew he was more than capable of doing so. He knew that he needed to practice much more with his Quirk, especially in combat situations, though he was scared of what might happen if he suddenly lost control of himself. Of course, this was just a fear made up from anxiety, as he still had complete control over himself as a dragon, but it’s not his fault the first time it happened he went nuts!
He looked back at the area just outside of the clearing, where he had chosen to be a good place to transform without leaving noticeable evidence. No one usually went past the clearing, after all. If they did, however...well, they would likely find quite the mess. Large, reptilian footprints would be all over the area, with skid lines from his tail dragging being between them. A couple of smaller trees have also been knocked over, though they were likely old and were bound to die whenever the next storm came around.
Jack scratched the back of his head as he viewed his handiwork, feeling a bit bad for some of the smaller animals that had made the forest their home. Though it was clear that the majority of them had long since cleared away from the area, there had been rumors of a rather large bear living in the area, though that was before the ‘Dragon of the Forest’ rumor started. People probably thought that the dragon had run the beast off, and, honestly, Jack partially hoped that was the case. Otherwise he was bound for a fight soon enough.
He shook his head, trying to dismiss the thought. The last thing the boy wanted was to have to suddenly fight a large bear, especially when fights between animals are usually to the death. He yawned, feeling a bit fatigued after his little training session and making the mistake of letting his body relax for too long. ”Maybe a catnap wouldn’t hurt too much…” he murmured to himself, shutting his eyes and dozing off. He snored lightly, not really loudly enough for the entire forest to hear, but definitely loud enough for someone to notice if they came nearby.
However, after about an hour or so, Jack could faintly hear the voice of someone. At first, he thought it was simply his subconscious or a dream, and promptly tried to tune it out. He held his tail close to him, like it was a stuffed toy, and took a deep breath before dozing off again. This time was very brief, as the voice began to get closer and closer to where Jack was dozing.
As he realized that someone had ACTUALLY had the courage to come into the forest despite the rumors, Jack gasped and immediately began to hop into one of the trees to hide. He made a lot of noise, though, so it was highly likely that whoever was in the forest could hear him as clear as day. Despite that, though, Jack would try his best to watch the person, who appeared to be a girl about the same age as him. ”...What did that lizard do?” he asked quietly, just barely loud enough for the girl to hear him, but not enough for her to pinpoint where he was, as he was moving about through the trees, mostly just trying to be unseen.
However, these actions might cause an unwanted presence for both of the kids...

With how preoccupied she was with the lizard, Hye-Rin had let her guard down. It happened too often for comfort and it was a habit that would get the girl into serious trouble one day. And as she was ready to sheath her mighty blade and head back home, a meek voice from somewhere around her made her jump. Her sword dropped to the dirt road beneath her with a small thump, sending the lizard skittering in another direction. Hye-Rin, a red hue now slowly beginning to burn across her cheeks and sprout tiny red tulip buds with it, would look around while reaching for the plastic shield fastened to back,"Who-Who's there?! Y-You better come out be-before I whack you with my-" She held up her shield, but realized quickly that it didn't have the same weight to it as holding up a weapon would. Scooping her blade off the ground, she'd hold it up for whoever was around to see in plain view,"-sword!"
Hye-Rin had amassed quite a meadow over her skin in the time she'd been out, and an idea would pop into her head as the flowers on her wrist caught her eye,"You know, my Quirk is pretty dangerous! If you don't come out, I'll be forced to use it!" She was bluffing, of course. In truth, her Quirk couldn't hurt a fly, and it was the reason she was placed into the Support Studies of U.A. in the first place. Though it came in handy when people around her were in pain, it didn't really help in combat,"If I choose to bloom these flowers, you're in big trouble, buddy!"
Putting on the best war face she could muster, Hye-Rin would turn and kick the tree closest to her. It wouldn't budge the tree much, only shaking the leaves a tad bit. However, the impact with the bark and her shin sent a jolt of pain up her leg. The sword, once again, would be dropped along with the shield to clutch her shin, hoping around on one leg in slight over-dramatic agony until she toppled over onto the dirt path.
Part of her wanted to get up, but the rest of her was tired after the journey and hurting her leg. The whole ordeal felt like she was playing around with a friend- a simple game of make believe- and even the voice itself didn't sound threatening in the slightest. With that, Hye-Rin would chuckle to herself while rolling onto her back, the buds on her cheeks blooming into tulips that would instantly make her leg feel as if an ice pack was placed on it. The soreness would begin washing off of her, and it would aid anyone else that had small scrapes, cuts, or bruising like she had,"Ah... I wasn't that convincing, was I?" The small Korean would sigh, bringing her arms behind her head to relax on such a fine day.

Jack immediately yelped rather loudly in response to the girl’s rather defensive response. He quickly hopped over to another tree, unknowingly making a lot of rustling in the trees, making his attempts at trying to remain unseen rather useless. Of course, this was all just a instinctive reaction for the small boy, mostly due to his usual distrust of people. He felt his breathing increase in speed as the anxiety of the unknown built up inside of him. He bit the inside of his lip, and tried to steady his breathing, keeping an eye of the girl as she continued to go onto the defensive, despite her supposed foe being unseen.
His eyebrows raised a little as he began to take notice of the flowers blooming on the girl’s skin; no doubt, part of her Quirk’s ability. Interesting...I wonder, do they bloom because of the sunlight and photosynthesis, or do they take the energy from their host? Such a interesting Quirk… he mused to himself. Jack had always been a bit of a nerd when it came to how different Quirks worked, and how far these Quirks could go in terms of raw ability. Heck, if he could turn into a dragon of Arthurian legend and a girl could have flowers blooming all over her, who knows how far they could go!
However, he snorted just a bit when she claimed that her Quirk was dangerous. Considering the most that he could think of in terms of ‘dangerous’ was pollen to those with allergies, he didn’t really think that there was much they could actually do. Of course, that was his initial thought, but he then reminded himself that Quirks as a whole were unusual, and she could very easily be serious about it. He pursed his lips and was silent for a moment, before replying ”Dangerous even against the Dragon of the Forest?” He would gauge her reply to that little confession, seeing how she would react to the legend that she most likely came her for was close to revealing itself to be true.
Jack then flinched as the girl then actually hurt herself by kicking the tree right next to one he was in. She was rather dramatic as she fell onto her back, clearly exhausted. He frowned a bit, uncertain as to what to do. His instincts told him to check and see if she was ok. His fears, on the other hand, questioned whether this was a trick or not. He thought for a moment, deciding to risk getting just a bit closer.
He hopped out of the tree, landing lightly on the grassy ground. He stayed inside of the shadows of the trees, mostly just because he still didn’t trust the flower girl. He hid behind the tree he was just in, his tail swishing back and forth uncertainly. However, then something weird began to happen. The pollen that was coming off of the girl, and of course enveloping Jack, began to fully seal up all of his cuts, and honestly filled him with a sense of calm. ”Interesting…” he murmured, mostly to himself, though considering how close he was to the girl, she could likely hear him.
The girl then promptly asked, presumably Jack though seemingly to no one in particular, if she was convincing at all. Jack tilted his head from side to side, edging just a bit closer, though only enough to where his bright, purple eyes could properly be seen. ”It seemed pretty convincing to me,” he replied simply, the only sound coming afterwards being the swishing of his tail in the grass. ”...Just, erm...who are you? Did you come looking for m- the Dragon?” he asked shyly, just trying to strike up a small conversation with the strange girl before him. He would then go silent, watching her carefully. If she was suddenly hostile, Jack would be ready to flee in and instant. However...his curiousity got the best of him this time.
He just wondered if the saying about cats could be applied to dragons, too.

"The Dragon is no match for my Quirk, anyway!!!" Hye-Rin bluffed some more in response to the voice, the grip on her toy sword tightening at the thought of facing the mighty creature that was fabled to live where they were standing. Though her words said otherwise, her voice was shaky at the mere thought, and the fact that she'd let her guard down in the middle of such a dangerous forest was unwise.
As she laid on the ground to recover while the pollen healed her leg, the flowers that had sprouted such at such a helpful time began to wilt. With a normal gust of wind, the petals were carried away, and it looked like a scene out of a romance anime where cherry blossom petals fell. Though, Hye-Rin hardly noticed. All she felt was tingling on her cheeks and wrists, along with the sickly smell of dead flowers. Her eyes remained closed as she relaxed on the ground.
In the moment, the dragon seemed like a threat. But, as the day rolled on and the two stayed just a short walk from the forest's edge, the idea of a mythical beast existing seemed farther and farther away,"I'm sure it's a friendly dragon, whatever it is." Hye-Rin's eyes would open while she sat up, the last of the dead flowers shaking off while new ones grew in their place. Even if she wanted to be rid of them, those problematic buds kept sprouting regardless of what she wanted.
The bright purple eyes and the outline of a person could be seem from where she was sitting, even through the forest's shade,"I'm Hye-Rin! You look young, though... do you go to U.A.?" She'd blink curiously at the outline, bringing her knees up to her chest to rest her head on them as she waited for the boy to respond,"You don't have to worry! I know I looked pretty cool with the sword, but I'm harmless..." She'd warmly smile at him, comparing only to the sun in that moment.

Jack’s eyebrows raised quite a bit in response to the girl’s assumption that the ‘Dragon’ was likely friendly. That’s not exactly something that came to mind when most people thought of dragons, the usual assumption of them being that they were easily angered, greedy, and anything BUT nice. Of course, Jack had never really gotten angry, but aside from that the description didn’t exactly fit him. He pursed his lips as he thought that, though his shoulders untensed as he began to feel that the girl was anything but a threat.
The girl then opened her eyes, and began to sit up. The sudden movement made Jack flinch and move back just a smidge, though at the very least his eyes were still visible. The girl didn’t really seem dissuaded by that, however, staring at him with bright, golden eyes. He raised an eyebrow at that, finding the fact that she had the inverse color of his eyes a bit ironic. He didn’t really know if he should make anything about that or not, but decided to keep quiet about it.
She then introduced herself to him, her name being Hye-Rin. He raised an eyebrow at the name, knowing that it wasn’t Japanese. ”So...you’re not from around here, either…?” he asked, his tone making it clear that he wasn’t one-hundred percent certain about the girl yet. Though...that smile of hers made Jack’s face heat up and his spine tingle. Thinking back on it now, it had been a long while since he really interacted with anyone his own age, much less a girl. Granted, with how shy he was, it was kind of no figure that would be the case.
He still hesitated as Hye-Rin then proceeded to ask about him, asking if he was a U.A. student and such. She also tried to reassure him at she was no threat to him, once again giving him that smile that made him feel even more anxious. He was silent for a moment, his tail swishing around a bit faster. He then slightly nodded his head, saying quietly ”Y-yeah...I just got accepted there. Class 1-A, if I recall correctly…” He then went quiet for another good minute.
Then, after a rather awkward silence, Jack would finally begin to step out of the shadows, though it was rather slowly, starting with only his shoes and finally leading up to his white-fluffy hair. He would honestly look like a normal kid, up until his tail exited the shadows as well. He said nothing at first, but once he had fully revealed himself he quickly shuffled back over to the tree, sitting down across from the curious girl. His mouth was covered with his jacket, hiding the rather sharp teeth that he had, at least for the moment.
He looked up and down at Hye-Rin, not really knowing what to say. Should he be playful? Make a joke about him being the Dragon of the Forest? Or maybe play it all tsundere? After a moment, Jack would apparently make up his mind, saying simply ”....M-my name i-is Jack...J-J-Jack Orion…” He then simply nodded his head to her, only very briefly showing off his teeth in the process, which was in a rather nervous smile. ”I-It’s nice to meet you, Hye-Rin…”
He would wait for whatever response the girl would have, whether it would be questions or a simple greeting back at him. He fiddled with the arm bracers he had on, his hands seemingly moving rather nonstop. ”S-so, erm...I’m assuming you applied to U.A. as well?” he would ask, mostly just trying to start a conversation. He would go quiet after that, waiting to see how she would respond. However, he began to feel a rather tingly sensation at the back of his head, like something was watching them. Why did he have a bad feeling about all of this…?

"Nope~! I was born in Daegu, South Korea, but I moved to Jeju when I was almost eight." The strange girl would nod towards the even stranger boy with a grin on her face, adjusting her legs to sit criss-cross on the ground,"And now I'm here at sixteen in Musutafu, Japan! Talking to a nice boy with a cool tail!" Hye-Rin was a bundle of energy wrapped inside of a soft and squishy outer shell. Being open and friendly to everyone she met was her specialty, but that didn't necessarily mean that she was all smiles and sunshine. There was no way to tell with how she carried herself, but most of the happiness she displayed was to convince herself that she was just that- happy. And, it had almost worked.
Until she came to Japan, that is. She noticed it was harder to go outside and do the normal tasks she'd done day to day for the past eight years that her and her father had been a family. Not knowing where this depressive rain cloud had come from, or even if it was what she thought it was, the Korean chose to ignore it and keep an umbrella above her head.
But, being accepted into U.A. just the other day and meeting a strange new friend today had to mean something. It was the start of a new chapter in her life, and she could feel the clouds dispersing into another shining day,"1-A?! That's so cool!" She looked genuinely impressed towards the boy who sat in shadow, rocking back and forth as she was quite a fidgety gal. He introduced himself as Jack Orion, and the foreigner's face made sense,"Well, it's nice to meet you, Jack-kun!" It didn't surprise her to see an American around, as U.A. was sure to bring new and exciting faces as the dreams of becoming a pro hero touched the heart of many.
When he went on to ask about herself, the Korean answered without any hesitation,"I did! I landed in Support Studies!" Her whole class, though mostly unknown to her at that moment in time, seemed all very nice and competent in their own individual ways! There was a silver-haired boy who looked a bit like a slacker and a large shrimp woman who seemed a bit shy, but Hye-Rin had high hopes in befriending the entire class one day!
As the girl continued, she'd point to the now freshly sprouted buds of daisies and wildflowers that adorned her cheeks beautifully,"My Quirk heals, so I was bound to get placed in that class anyway. Apart from healing, they're pretty annoying." Scratching the back of her head, she'd laugh so care-freely in the presence of a complete stranger. It definitely spelled out just how odd of a person that Hye-Rin was...
Though, she had no reason to be afraid! The white-haired teen didn't seem like the type to hurt people, a soft look on his face the entire time she'd seen it.

Jack nodded a little as he listened to Hye-Rin explain cheerfully that she herself was actually from South Korea, but had moved to Jeju when she was quite young. It didn’t surprise him too much to see another foreigner, considering that they were both likely in Japan for the same exact reason: to join U.A. and become heroes. He thought about the fact that Hye-Rin’s Quirk allowed her to heal people, he thought it would make her a shoe-in for the prestigious academy. After all, healers could be seen as the backbone to any hero, especially those who are more combat-oriented like Jack. He nodded to himself at the thought, filing the information away for later.
His face then flushed as the girl then went on to remark that she was now in Musutafu talking to a boy with a cool tail. His tail perked up a bit, mostly as a reflex, though it made it seem like it had a mind of its own. He rubbed his arm a bit in anxiety at the mention of his tail, but he still managed to give a small giggle. ”Ah, it’s just a side effect of me being a dragon,” he replied with false simplicity. He would gauge the girl’s reaction as he officially confirmed that he was likely the dragon the myth was referring to. Hey, at least it wasn’t something like an evil dragon or something. Then...well, this conversation definitely wouldn’t be happening.
The dragon boy would then confirm that he had been accepted into U.A.’s class 1-A, which the energetic girl looked rather impressed by. He scratched the back of his head, chuckling a bit nervously in reply, not really knowing how to respond to the praise. It wasn’t too big of a deal; U.A.’s classes weren’t really separated by rank, contrary to popular belief. It was just the first class alongside classes B and C, which both teach the same exact things, just from different teachers.
Jack would then go on to ask if Hye-Rin had been accepted into U.A. as well, which she enthusiastically confirmed, saying that she was in the Support Studies. Jack flinched just a bit at the immediate response, but he was slowly becoming more comfortable with the girl. She gave of a presence which the timid boy felt like he could actually trust.
This feeling would increase further as she then went on to explain how her Quirk worked. She said it so casually, laughing care-freely at the fact. Jack would begin to smile back at her, showing off the rather large and sharp teeth that he had, another side-effect of his Quirk. ”The look suits you,” he replied simply, not really knowing whether he should say that she looked cute. He didn’t want to come off as flirting, but he didn’t really know what else to think.
Before he could say more, however, a rather loud growl came from across the clearing, which made Jack squeak in surprise. Literally. It sounded like a rubber ducky that little kids played with in the bath. He didn’t know why he did it, but it was anything but intimidating, to say the least.
However, he reacted quickly, springing to his feet and getting in front of Hye-Rin. The creature who had made the noise began to emerge from the trees, revealing a rather large black bear, about the size of a van. Jack gulped in surprise, but still stood his ground. ”Hye-Rin, you’re gonna want to stay back,” he said, his tone suddenly more leader-like, determination suddenly filling the small dragon boy.
He held his hands out in front of him, the usual signal to stay back. The bear surprisingly complied, though it still looked very hostile, ready to attack at a moment’s notice. ”Nice bear...we don’t mean any trouble...just please go away and we won’t bother you…” he cooed to the animal, though it didn’t seem to do much. He didn’t break eye-contact, however; such an action would likely cause the bear to take advantage and attack. He at the very least wanted to get the girl behind him away from the action before it started, because it was likely that he was going to have to transform in order to drive it off.
He just hoped she was smart enough to get the implied message of the situation.

Hye-Rin was perfectly content in staying here with her new friend. Though the two had just met, she couldn't help but think it was the start of a long and beautiful friendship- a flower beginning to bloom in the middle of winter. She would still, however, be blissfully ignorant to the fact that her new friend was the Dragon of the Forest, the meaning of his words going right over her head,"Woah?! You're a dragon?!" Leaning forward excitedly, she'd beam back at the white-haired boy in her midst. Blinking in awe as the gears started to crank painfully slowly in her head, she'd look between Jack, his jagged teeth, and the long tail that extended out behind him.
Tilting her head, Hye-Rin would continue with exclamation with a question,"Are you and the dragon that lives here related?" It seemed that the Korean was a bit too clueless and pure for her own good, and this proved difficult when it came to reading undertones and context clues. Though she was a bright girl when it came to some academics, there was a bit of a gap in the two when it came to socialization and even street smarts. Hopefully being in U.A. and amongst a handful of others that moved towards the same just goal as her, she'd develop into the mature young lady she always wanted to be growing up.
As Jack told her that the flowers suited her, a pink hue graced her cheeks and, with it, pink flower buds began sprouting across her cheeks,"It makes me happy that you think so...!" For as long as she could remember, Hye-Rin had despised her Quirk. Her early childhood had been shaped by the fact that she was an outsider to begin with, but she wasn't someone that could brush off a compliment. Such kind words often came with meaning behind them, and it felt ingenuine of her to tell him that he was wrong. So, she'd smile back at him and give the best response she could even with her insecurity.
A noise would erupt from through the trees behind the scaled boy, and the girl would scramble to her feet without a second thought. There had been few days she'd made it out in the short time she'd been in Japan, but it looked like this one was going to be one of the few that stood out the most. As the boy stepped in front of the Korean to do what she could only assume was protecting her, the creature that made the noise stepped out of the forest as if on cue.
"Wah... That's a big bear, Jack-kun..." She could see the intimidating size of the bear over the scaled boy, as she was a bit taller than him. Though the animal looked pretty angry for being disturbed by the presence of the pair of students, Hye-Rin wished for a peaceful solution in all of this. The bear, after all, was simply minding it's own business,"Go away, Miss. Bear! We'll leave, too!" Though she had every right to be afraid in that moment, the girl felt strangely secure with Jack with her. Perhaps it was the commanding voice that took over his typically shy speech earlier, but there was something special about him.
As if a flame inside of him had yet to be ignited.

Jack’s eyebrows raised a bit when Hye-Rin excitedly exclaimed her surprise as he explained that he was a dragon. That was honestly the last reaction that Jack had been expecting from the playful girl. The usual response from people without Quirks was to call him a freak, throw stuff at him, or just straight up run away. Quirkless people from the United States were admittedly really toxic towards people with them, even though they took up half the earth’s population. So, the thought that anyone would think his Quirk was cool, much less amazing, was, well...amazing.
Hye-Rin would then go on to ask if he was related to the Dragon of the Forest, which, admittedly, caught Jack by surprise. He had a bit of a poker face on at that point, and he cocked his head a bit. ”I mean...yeah, you could say that,” he replied, not really knowing what else to say. He didn’t really want to outright say that he was the dragon, but even if someone were listening in, it was pretty obvious at this point that he was the dragon the myth spoke of. Some people were just slow to make the connection sometimes, he supposed.
Jack would then go on to reply to her complaints of her Quirk by saying that it seemed to suit her. Hye-Rin suddenly turned a bright pink, and pink flowers grew on them to emphasize that point. He wasn’t really surprised by the reaction; he acted the same way towards his own Quirk, getting flustered when people decided to compliment it. For many years he’d been seen as a freak by the Quirkless people back home, and he grew to start to hate it. However, after a while, he decided to try and practice with it more, to make it more a part of him. He understood how hard it could be sometimes, so he simply gave her a bright smile in response to her thanks.
Before their conversation could go any further, however, the bear decided to make its appearance. Hye-Rin commented on how big it was, to which Jack simply nodded, not breaking eye contact with the bear. He attempted to calm it down, with Hye-Rin also pitching in, saying that they’ll leave. She was clearly afraid of the situation, but at the same time she seemed calm. Jack thought she just had a lot more nerves than he did, not realizing that he was the cause of her calmness. He felt a bit impressed, before shifting his mind back to the situation at hand.
The bear didn’t seem to want to back down, and was growing more restless by the second. Jack knew at that moment that the bear was going to attack no matter what, to try and get the interlopers out of its territory or make them its lunch. Jack growled a bit in annoyance, not really wanting to have to resort to using his Quirk, but he didn’t seem to have much of a choice.
He took a deep breath, before saying surprisingly casually ”Hey, Hye-Rin. Remember when I said that I was related to the dragon ‘living’ here?” His body began to tense up, but he still bore a wide grin on his face, staring right into the eyes of the massive beast before them.
”Get ready to meet him.”
It was at that moment the bear started to charge. It was rather slow, given its size, which gave Jack plenty of time to activate his Quirk. He threw his jacket off and tossed it to the side, his body already beginning to grow. Scales began to protrude from his body, ripping into the bandages that were previously there. His clothes grew along with him, thankfully, and seemingly melted into his skin as he transformed. It was almost like a scene straight out of a Fantasy Finale game, and personally, this was the part that Jack loved.
When he was finished transforming, he was easily the size of a bus, much bigger than the beast that wanted to attack him. His scales were a beautiful mix of a shining white hue and the darkest black, with his horns and spikes on his massive wings being a bright, shining sky blue. His eyes were still purple, and still had that kind look to them, but he overall went through probably the most striking transformation known to man.
This whole transformation took about the span of 10 seconds, and the bear had already stopped in its tracks at the 5 second mark. For a moment, the two massive beasts glared at each other, the silence between them almost unbearable (pun intended). During the standoff, Jack gently pushed Hye-Rin back a bit with his tail, not enough to push her back much or knock her down, but the message was very clear: get back.
And then he roared.
It was surprisingly deep and loud, spreading throughout the forest and the nearby districts, people craning their heads around in response to the loud noise. However, he didn’t seem angry at all, more confident than anything. It wasn’t a bellow of rage, but a roar of triumph, like he’s already won. The bear backed up, not sure as to what to do. It looked at Hye-Rin for a moment, thinking that it might throw this strange lizard creature off if it attacked her, but also knew that it was just as likely to claw its face off if it did so.
All in all, this was definitely the craziest day in all three of their lives so far.

Amber eyes would dart between the massive bear and the much smaller boy before he spoke up, laxly speaking of the entire reason she'd trekked out to the forest in the first place,"You mean the 'Dragon of-'" Before she could finish her train of thought, Jack continued with a promise. Without missing a beat, the white-haired boy began to bulk into someone- something unrecognizable from his former self. What stood before her now was the fabled 'Dragon of the Forest'- a goliath of a beast with shining black and white scales covering it's body. Though, her new friend was somewhere in there as well.
Knowing that the dragon was, thankfully, on her side, the Korean let out an excitable gasp,"Wah!" It was true that she'd seen little in her life that could compare, and the child in her was coming out to play when Jack now formally introduced her to his much scalier friend,"대박! (Awesome!)" Slipping into her native tongue when shocked wasn't an abnormal thing, and she did so with a clumsy grin on her face. The bear was still a threat, but she couldn't get the concept of that past her excitement for seeing the mighty dragon up close. Though she had imagined that she would be slaying the dragon herself with her replica sword and shield, that was still laying on the ground just outside of the treeline, befriending the dragon instead didn't seem like too bad of an option.
After all, what better way then to kill him with kindness?
The boy's tail would come up to push her back- an attempt at getting her as far from the action as possible. Though she appreciated and admired how protective he was over a strange new friend, she couldn't help but feel pitied in that moment,"J-Jack-kun! Use Dragon Breath!" Hye-Rin would point at the bear as if it was some sort of game of Pocket Monsters, her voice a bit more commanding as not to sound completely useless. Though she knew the basics of martial arts, she wouldn't be able to do much against a bear.
She was a sitting duck in this battle, but it wouldn't stop her from cheering from the sidelines!

Jack couldn’t help but mentally grin at Hye-Rin’s rather excited reaction to his rather dramatic transformation. It was probably the most positive reaction he’s ever gotten out of someone before, and the feeling admittedly made him feel warm. He was starting to feel glad that he met a person who was actually nice to him, compared to all of the other people who discriminated against him for his Quirk and its effects on his body. It made him all the more determined to get this bear away from them.
As the two behemoths stared each other down, Jack would gently push Hye-Rin away, a brief message to get back away. However, the girl was apparently more stubborn than he thought. After he nudged her, she suddenly, and nervously, exclaimed
”J-Jack-kun! Use Dragon Breath!”
Jack couldn’t help but look surprised at the command, craning his head around with his long neck to look at her. ”Wait what?” he asked, trying to process the command. After a second, he remembered that it was a move from the ‘Pocket Monsters’ game series. His face lit up after a second, and he nodded in understanding.
It was at this moment the bear once again tried to charge at the large creature in front of it. Jack would calmly look at it, a large, draconic grin on his face, and took a rather big deep breath. He then simply blew in the bear’s face, trying his hardest not to laugh at the small troll move he just pulled. The bear stopped once again, sniffing around, and started to snort profusely. It continued to do this for a good few minutes, backing away as it did so.
Suddenly Jack was glad that he decided to eat something with garlic for lunch that day. The bear, suddenly deciding that this encounter was NOT worth it by any means, turned tail and bolted back into the forest. Jack snorted in amusement, yelling back at the bear ”And that’s why ya don’t mess with a dragon!” He knew that the bear probably wouldn’t understand him, but it still felt good to get out.
He then suddenly changed back into his normal, short boyish self within the matter of a split second. There were more cuts on his arms and his face, and he looked a bit dizzy and exhausted. He fell a bit on his behind onto the ground, taking a few deep breaths. However, he had the biggest grin on his face despite that. He glanced back over at Hye-Rin. ”Dragon Breath? You play Pocket Monsters too?” he asked, acting like that whole ordeal didn’t even happen.
After she would reply, his face would go from happy to worried, and he then asked ”You ok, though? I didn’t mean to scare you if I did.” He was a bit nervous that he may have freaked her out a bit, despite her previous excited reaction, though that was more of a natural reaction for him. He was just hoping that he didn’t just lose out on the chance to actually make a friend for a change.

The bubbly girl's joy momentarily came to a halt when the boy's head turned to face her, a face of what she could only assume was confusion painted on his scaled features,"What?" She repeated what he'd said, before the corners of his mouth curled into a rather toothy grin.
What came out of the dragon wasn't so much the fiery attack she'd seen in her favorite childhood game, but a strong expulsion of air that drew on until the bear turned heel without a second thought. Jack would laugh, and the Korean would join him in celebration with a clenched fist thrown into the air,"Yeah!" A smile beamed at the dragon before he reverted into a much more familiar and friendly form, which would have easily calmed the girl had it not been for the wounds covering his skin. The sunny disposition of the girl dropped as she let out a gasp, rushing over to her friend's side. If she hadn't already seen enough blood and open wounds in her life, someone brimming with purity and innocence such as her would have gone squeamish at the sight. Yet, after the early years of her life that she'd spent hiding the same battle scars and mistakes, she'd learned that it was all a part of life.
The question of whether or not she played 'Pocket Monsters' went unheard as she fussed over him, taking his arm first and observing as gently as she could to figure out just how deep they went. When she couldn't find a clear answer herself, her hand would move to his chin to move his face from left to right as Nurse Hye-Rin made her examinations.
His childlike features turned to that of worry, and he asked about her well-being as if it was normal. Pouting with furrowed brows, she'd raise her voice to that of an older sister scolding a foolish younger brother, the hold she had on his jaw tightening,"Why are you asking me if I'm okay? You're covered in cuts!" Hye-Rin, though a bit too childish for her age, could take a serious stance when it was needed. It took a lot of struggling over the years to get to the level of 'happiness' that was passively sprouting out of her, so dialing back on the sunshine knob was fairly easy for her to do. Nevertheless, the Korean wanted to continue to smile even when her heart wanted for otherwise.
That's why, when Jack reverted back with new gashes coating his pale skin, Hye-Rin snapped easily out of her naive charade and went immediately into Nurse-mode,"Here- relax, okay? I'll heal you." The new wildflower buds that decorated the apples of her cheeks were already mid-bloom as she spoke, the pollen filling the air. Though she still had a ghost of a smile on her face, she remained stern with the white-haired boy,"I think what you did was super cool, but you should be careful. I might not be there to fix it next time!" Though she acted much younger, Hye-Rin's serious side was that of a doting mother- careful and sweet, but scolded when needed.
And, though she knew little about this newly-acquired friend, she knew that it wouldn't be the last he'd see of this side of her. Not while his Quirk continued to devastate his own body like this.
No, she'd surely have to stick around. Just so she could be there to fix him up the next time.
