Reunion [Meiko]

Alaster did not know what to expect. Would Meiko be angry, that he failed to avenge her and that he kept her waiting too long? Would she tell him it was okay, that he at least tried for her sake? But then Meiko reached for his pen and began to write in his notepad. Although Alaster was left-handed, Meiko was not, so it seemed that her right hand was too broken for her to even be able to write. Her jaw was broken too. She either could not talk, or she did not want to. Reading her message, Alaster nodded and helped her up. They needed to get her someplace safe where she could get better.

Unfortunately, it was not wise to go to the hospital. Although Meiko did not look suspicious, Alaster sure as hell did. Even without the hoodie and crow mask on him, Alaster had blood on his jeans and shoes, as well as the bite on his shoulder from Goliath. Trying to explain those to the hospital staff would just raise several unwanted questions.

Fortunately, there was one solution which, while not perfect, would be adequate enough in this situation. There was a man that Alaster knew from his time working with the gang. His name was unknown, but he went by the alias Patch. He was an ex military doctor that the gang paid top dollars to fix up injured gang members whenever shit happened to them. Alaster had once seen him to fix up certain injuries he got that night he and Nari fought Shigure Kagenuma. Although Alaster had severed ties with the gang, he knew that Patch was like him in the sense that the man worked with the gang and not for them. Patch was only interested in money, not loyalty. As long as Alaster paid the man, he was sure that Patch would not refuse to treat Meiko, or just outright sell him out to the gang.

Thankfully, it was not too long of a walk to Patch's apartment. Only about ten minutes of walking, and they were already at the man's doorstep. Knocking exactly six times, Alaster did not have to wait long to hear a clicking sound and be greeted by the man himself.

Patch was a middle aged man, bald and wearing square glasses. He looked at Alaster and sighed. "Ah hell, not you again. What do you want, sonny?" He then looked at Meiko. "Oh. The hell happened to her? Actually, forget it. I don't need details. You want me to fix er up, right? Alright, bring er in." He stepped out of the way to let the villain couple inside.

The place was not too big. There were only a few rooms. Alaster carefully held Meiko close as they followed Patch to his 'office' or 'work room'. This room contained a bench, a large clean bed, and several cabinets and shelves filled with various essentials. It was no doctor's office or hospital room, but it had everything Patch needed to help his patients. "Lie her down on the bed, gently now." As Patch instructed, Alaster helped Meiko lie down. He patted her shoulder and smiled to try to reassure her that this man was okay and could be trusted.

Of course, being the money-loving guy he was, Patch pulled Alaster out of the room to discuss payment. He was not the type of guy who would help out anyone without being paid first. "Okay, before we go any further, you had better pay me. You already know my prices." Alaster began writing on his notepad and explained that he could not speak as a result of his quirk, and that he would of course wire the man money to help heal Meiko. "Oh. Well shit, sonny. I guess I'll get you something for your throat, then. And don't worry about the girl. I'll fix what I can so that she'll at least look presentable when you take her to the hospital. Speaking of, I'm guessing you don't want them to see the blood on your pants, huh. Hell, I'll see what I can do there. Just wait outside for now."

Patch stepped out for a bit to wash his hands. He then grabbed some things and went to Meiko. "All right hon, here's what I'm gonna do. You see this needle? Yeah, it's gonna hurt like a bitch, but you need the anesthetic so that I can fix you without you screaming your lungs out at me. So hold still, okay? Okay." He gave Meiko only a few seconds before injecting her with the anesthetic. In a few moments, Meiko's sense of pain would be greatly dulled. She would barely feel anything the doctor would do next.

"All right, let's start with the jaw first, I suppose." Patch extended his fingers, and thin strings began to come out of each finger. "Don't worry. I used to be in the military, before they found out I have a quirk. I have more training on me than many hospital doctors. Just try to relax. Your boyfriend will be allowed back in once I'm done working."

As Patch did his thing, Alaster just waited patiently. The sooner Meiko's injuries were treated, the better. In the meantime, Alaster took out his phone, opened his bank account, and began to wire the money to the doctor's account. Sure the doctor was more expensive than most hospitals, but Alaster did not care. He would be more than willing to spend whatever it took to help Meiko get better.

Patch hummed a bit as he worked on fixing Meiko's broken jaw. His plan was to stitch the broken jaw back together with his thin but durable and sharp strings. Fortunately for Meiko, the anesthetic was already kicking in. The poor girl would thankfully not feel a thing. Although Patch was not very good at reassuring his patients, at least he cared just enough to try. "You won't feel any pain. Still, you might want to look away if you don't want to see."

Meanwhile, Alaster continued to wait. And wait. More and more waiting. It would have been easy for him to fall asleep with how much time was passing. However, Alaster could not sleep. He needed to see that Meiko was okay. That everything that was broken was fixed. Sleep can come afterwards.

Several hours later, Patch finally came out of the room. However, Alaster's immediate concern and curiosity of how Meiko was doing was ignored. Patch simply ignored Alaster and walked away. If Alaster could speak, then he would be yelling at the doctor. Fortunately, Patch was only gone for a few minutes. He returned with a cup of what appeared to be tea.

"Drink this. It'll help soothe your throat faster. Or don't, I don't give a shit." Alaster took the cup, nodded once in thanks, and began to drink. It was hot, but not overly so. His throat was already beginning to heal a bit faster. He could actually talk again, albeit with a heavily raspy and sore voice. Patch just shook his head as Alaster tried to say thanks, only to end up sounding like a croak from a dying frog.

"Don't talk too much now. Give the medicine time to do its thing. That way you don't terrify your girlfriend by sounding like a frog from hell. Oh yeah, speaking of her..." Patch saw the worry in Alaster's eyes and began to speak before Alaster had the chance to drown the man with questions. "She's doing okay. I managed to patch (heh) her up. Everything that was broken is now stitched up. Still, I told her not to move around too much so that she doesn't risk anything breaking. Let the doctors in the hospital use their equipment to do a far more efficient job to help her. At least she can talk again without having to worry about her jaw. She's asleep at the moment, so just let her be."

As Alaster nodded, extremely relieved at the fact that Meiko was already past the worst of it, Patch looked at Alaster's bloodied clothes and the bite mark left from Goliath. "You need some fixing up, too. You don't look that great yourself to be honest."

Patch got some antibiotics and bandages to clean and close up Alaster's bite. He also got him a fresh set of clothes. Nothing that fit perfectly, but it was adequate enough. Now wearing an oversized sweater and baggy pants, Alaster now felt more comfortable heading to the hospital once Meiko was ready.

A few more hours later, Patch informed Alaster that Meiko was awake, and that he could speak to her for a while if he wanted. Of course that was what Alaster was going to do. Practically running to the room, he smiled as he saw his beloved Meiko resting on the bed. Seeing as Patch's strings were almost the same color as Meiko's skin, they were not too noticeable. Walking up close by Meiko's side and lightly stroking her cheek, Alaster smiled as he spoke in a quiet and still extremely raspy voice.

"How are you feeling now, my love? A little bit better?"

She wasn't fully healed, not yet. Still, it was evident that Meiko was on the path to recovery. This greatly relieved Alaster. Poor Meiko. She should have never gotten hurt like this, or at all for that matter. Once Meiko was fully recovered, Alaster was determined to find each and every single bastard that had ever laid their filthy and unworthy hands on her. He would break them, make them scream, cry, and beg for mercy that won't come. He would show them what happens to idiots who dare harm an angel. His angel! He would show them the wrath of a demon.

But that would be for later. Right now, Alaster did not have vengeance in mind. He only had concern for Meiko's safety and well-being, and relief to see that she was finally back with him. Smiling, he moved his hand towards hers, grasping it gently yet firmly.

"It's okay. You're safe now. No one's going to hurt you. Never again. Not on my watch."

It was a promise Alaster fully intended to keep. He needed to become stronger. He needed to be able to protect Meiko, to keep her safe, to rip apart and disembowel that asshole who started all this. Alaster needed power, the power to protect Meiko, the power to destroy those who would want to harm Meiko. Whatever it took. Because this could not happen again. This will not happen again!

Leaning in closer to Meiko, Alaster gave her a brief yet sweet kiss to the forehead. He then spoke quietly in his still very raspy voice. "I was weak. Too weak to protect you. Too weak to avenge you. And for that, no words do justice to describe just how sorry I am to have failed you. You have every right to be angry at me, disappointed in me, or both."

Alaster bowed his head low in apology before resuming. "But that changes now! I will get stronger. We will get stronger, together. I won't let this happen to you ever again. I won't let anyone else ruin your happiness. Never again!"

Alaster gently patted Meiko's head, feeling her hair between his fingers. They felt so smooth, so soft. He frowned upon seeing the part of her head where her hair was forcibly ripped off her scalp. Just what kind of sick demented arse would do something like that?

"Is there anything you need? Anything you want me to get you?" Alaster may have screwed up big time, but he could at least do this for his beloved. Be there for her, comfort her, give her whatever she wanted. He would not leave her side, not unless she wanted him to.

Wait, what? Alaster was confused. Meiko wasn't mad at him? Even after that fiasco? The sheer happiness he felt at that moment was indescribable. If anyone were to look at his face and see the joy in his eyes, the genuine smile on his face, they would not even be able to tell that Alaster was a deranged psychotic villain. In this moment, he was just a very happy man. How in freaking hell was he lucky enough to have ended up with such an amazing woman?

Hugging Meiko tightly (but not too tightly, he did not want her injuries to get worse), Alaster smiled as he spoke. "Hearing those lovely words lifts the heavy weight of doubt and worry from my mind. Thank you, my love! I'll be sure to work hard to never fail you again!" His voice was slowly but surely becoming less raspy. The throat medicine was working wonders.

Hearing her ask if they could go home or anywhere else, Alaster nodded. "Of course. Patch may be one of the best doctors I've come to know, but I can very much understand your discomfort in being here. In all honesty, I'm not much of a fan of being here either. Let's get you to a hospital room, or at least somewhere far more comfortable."

Conveniently (or perhaps inconveniently), the door to the room opened, and Patch walked inside. Naturally, he heard Alaster's words. "Well gee, I'm sorry if this place ain't a five star hotel or something." He had a wheelchair with him, as well as a pack of painkillers that he handed to Alaster to give to Meiko in case she needed them. "It's best if she doesn't move around too much. Don't want to open up those stitches now, do we? I'll let you get her on the wheelchair once you two are ready to leave. Oh, and you're both welcome, by the way."

Alaster thanked the doctor just as he exited the room and closed the door behind him. Sighing, Alaster took out his phone and began calling for a ride to the hospital. Of course, it would take some time before their ride got here. What to do in the meantime?

"Anything you want to do while we wait, love?" Hopefully the villain couple would not have to wait too long for their ride to get here. Or maybe waiting a while would not be such a bad thing. They were in each other's company, after all.

With Patch gone from the room, Alaster pulled Meiko close in an embrace. He smiled as he looked into her beautiful blue eyes. He could get lost in those gorgeous eyes for hours. "I want to stay close to you too." It did not matter where they were. It did not matter how long they needed to wait before they could leave. All that mattered was that right now, the two had each other. And no one could separate the two lovers.

Alaster leaned in close again for another kiss. This time, he aimed not for Meiko's forehead, but her lips instead. Nothing in this world could ever come close to replicating the sheer bliss he felt. God, it had been too long! Ever since Meiko had been taken away by G, Alaster missed her. Not being able to be with Meiko was worse than Hell. But now she was back in his arms, safe and sound. He did not want to ever let go.

After finally pulling away, Alaster's smile faded a bit as he looked at Meiko's bandages. "Later, some time later, whenever you're ready, I want to know what happened. I want you to tell me everything. What that man said to you, what he did to you, if anyone else hurt you too. I'll gut them all. We'll get our revenge. But not right now. Right now, let's not worry about that. Right now, I just want you to relax, to be happy and content. You deserve to rest, to be at peace, to be comfortable and happy."

With his smile (and his voice) returning, Alaster moved in for another kiss, holding Meiko close to him as he did so. He really wished that they could be somewhere else at the moment. Somewhere where they would not be disturbed. No one else but the two lovebirds.

Eventually, their taxi would come, and they would have to leave for the hospital, where Meiko would get the treatment she needed. But until then, Alaster was content being reunited with his beloved.

The two lovers just stayed together, enjoying each other's company. After about ten minutes, however, Alaster's phone began to ring. It was their taxi driver, letting him know that the taxi would be outside in exactly five minutes. That was their cue to start heading out. Carefully helping Meiko into the wheelchair, Alaster helped move her outside.

As they were leaving,  Alaster noticed Patch waiting by the door. Patch nodded. "Y'all leaving now? Good, about damn time. Have a safe trip, and may the lady's recovery be swift." Alaster smiled. Despite Patch being a generally rude person and not very hospitable, he at least had good intentions.

"Thank you, Patch, for everything."

The doctor nodded. "Yeah, yeah. Now get out already. And do try not to have to come back here again. You know I hate having to treat the same patients more than once."

Alaster pushed Meiko's wheelchair along. For a moment, it reminded him of pushing a baby stroller. Hmm, perhaps one day, he and Meiko would decide to have a baby, so that he actually would get to do that someday? As sweet as that thought was, Alaster decided to think about something else for now. Right now, he just wanted the taxi to arrive so that Meiko could get to the hospital already. The faster she was well again, the better.

Finally, the taxi arrived. Seeing Meiko in the wheelchair with all the bandages Patch had put on her, the driver helped Alaster carefully carry Meiko inside the car. Alaster appreciated the help, but he still gave the driver a warning. "Be gentle with her, or I'll kill you." The driver thought that Alaster had meant it figuratively, being worried for the woman's condition and safety. However, Alaster meant it literally.

Fortunately, there was no trouble getting Meiko inside safely. After getting in, Alaster instructed the driver to head to the hospital, and to drive as quickly as legally possible. As the taxi drove down the street, Alaster held Meiko's hand and cuddled with her. Smiling, Alaster whispered in her ear, assuring her that everything was going to be fine now, that he would make sure of it.

Meiko was clearly very tired, as she began to doze off. Alaster smiled as he looked at his injured but still very beautiful angel. Unable to resist, he gave the sleeping beauty a soft kiss on the cheek.

Enjoy your rest, my love. You deserve it after what those assholes put you through. They may have won this battle, but we shall conquer them all and win the war. And we shall do it together, my beloved Meiko.
