The holiday season, time to be merry, spend time with friends and family, and eat good food. The holidays really were the best time of the year. Chise had made the choice to go out and enjoy a movie night full of holiday classics with fellow students from each of the classes. It gave her an excuse to make cookies as well as to meet new people from different classes. Chise had begun talking with a fellow redhead who she guessed was in one of the hero classes, considering she had never seen the fellow girl in her own class at all. She wished to talk more with the fellow girl but did not want to disturb the rest of the students from watching the movie. She didn't want to make anyone mad from trying to talk to someone else during the movie. Chise considered silently texting back and forth to the girl throughout the movie but she might want to watch the movie as well. It seemed as if waiting it out until the movie was over was the smartest move, but it left less time for the two girls to talk.
Chise took a bite out of one of the snickerdoodles she had grabbed, listening as the other softly asked if she could have Chise's recipe for the cookies she made. The comment almost made Chise choke. Why would she want her recipes? They weren't special, they were recipes she had gotten off the internet...mostly. "A-Ahh sure I can give you a copy of my recipes. It's n-nothing too hard though. I'm sure you'll find the same recipes online," Chise said softly as not to disturb the other students watching the classic, Grandpa Got Run Over by a Sleigh. The peach haired girl listened as the other spoke what seemed to be Russian. "Pardon me for asking...but are you fluent in Russian? I know a few languages but sadly Russian is not one of them. I know a bit of Italian, but I'm fairly fluent in Japanese, English and Chinese. I wish to learn Russian someday though,. Maybe in exchange for my cookie recipes, you could teach me Russian?" Chise asked, looking to Rimma with a soft smile, a soft chuckle leaving her pink lips. It seemed like this girl wasn't bad so far...perhaps she'll continue chatting softly like this or wait until the movie was over. The poofy haired girl didn't want any confrontation over being too loud during the movie.

Chise's reaction to Rimma's request prompted a small, amused twinkle in her gray-blue eyes. While she was fully aware good recipes could be found online - she was also aware of just how many there were. Attempting to find a specific recipe was like looking for a needle in a haystack, and even if she did find it that was assuming her fellow red-head hadn't modified it in any way.
Still, it was clear to her that Chise was a bit on the shy side and so she let her be humble for the time being. After giving her thanks in Russian, she stuffed the other half the sugar cookie that had prompted the recipe request into her mouth and turned her attention back to the movie. Surprisingly, in a pleasant way of course, the girl next to her continued the quiet conversation with a question and request of her own.
Rimma's relaxed demeanor turned more excited, and after making sure to chew and swallow she gave an enthusiastic nod. Keeping her voice quiet, even though her eager tone was quite apparent even at a whisper, she replied. "I am, and I would love to! I would say a trade is not necessary but..." Here, she paused to bite half of a gingerbread cookie off, eyes lighting up in delight once more. Once she didn't have her mouth full again, she continued with a quiet giggle. "Only balvan would not secure getting ahold of a way to make such good cookies, no?"
After a small pause to finish the gingerbread cookie off, and idly putting some of her attention on watching the movie, it struck her that Chise was unlikely to know what a 'balvan' was or meant. So, flashing a slightly sheepish smile at the girl, she clarified. As she did, she reached up with one hand to lightly rap her knuckles against the side of the hat on her head. "Ah, balvan is... boulder, but means a thick headed and foolish person."
She fell silent for a moment after that, munching away at her food and sipping on her drink and typing on her phone. Every time the chill emanating from her lungs to the rest of her body came back, a little bit of spicy and hot chicken warded it off once again. Another question would come to mind to continue the conversation, however, and she would once more lean in quietly to ask.
"Was making cookies simply because of the holidays, or do you bake often?"

The fellow redhead was quite glad to hear that Rimma agreed to teach her some Russian, although confusion hit her when Rimma said a trade was not needed. Why did she say that? She couldn't just et the other teach her Russian without some sort of compensation for using her time. The least she could do is give the girl some cookie recipes she uses, it's not like they were a big secret or anything. The grey eyed girl trailed off, taking a bite of her cookie before speaking up once more, Chise found the action to be just the tiniest bit funny but didn't laugh at the other. Rimma mentioned something about balvan and about obtaining a way to make cookies but the violet eyed girl wasn't sure where the connection was between the two. She guessed this 'balvan' was a Russian word as she doesn't recall hearing it in the languages she knows of.
Thankfully, after paying attention to the holiday movie on the screen in front of them, Rimma clarified what 'balvan' actually meant. It seemed the word was indeed a Russian term that stood for someone with a hard head or that of a person lacking in smarts. Ah, that made sense now. Chise felt a little silly not figuring out something seemingly as simple as that. She felt like balvan now. A soft chuckle left her mouth, laughing at how silly she must have seemed, wondering if Rimma thought she was a bit silly for not figuring it out on her own. Chise stifled her laughter by eating another cookie of hers and taking a sip from her now cooled hot chocolate. Perhaps it should be called lukewarm chocolate since it's always too hot to drink once you first make it. It seemed the other had gone silent as well, perhaps she should stop talking and pay attention to the movie, there would be plenty of time to talk afterward. The violet eyes of the class president turned towards the screen, picking the movie up once more.
As Chise tried recalling where in the movie they were, Rimma had turned and spoke up once more, asking her if the cookies were just because of the holidays or if she did it normally. The peach haired girl turned towards the other and softly spoke up, "Ah, I bake quite often. My fellow classmate and I founded the school's cooking club together and I am the Vice President. I've always enjoyed baking from a young age. If being a hero doesn't work out, I could always try opening a bakery," the redhead said, feeling her cheeks grow a bit warm from even mentioning Haruto, even if it was indirect.

Rimma listened to Chise's reply quietly and politely, munching away while she did. When her fellow red-head revealed she was the cooking club vice-president and actually took part in *founding* it here at the school, her round gray-blue eyes went wide for a moment. Straightening up a little more attentively, she couldn't help but stifle a quiet giggle of her own at the comment about opening a bakery if heroics didn't pan out.
Once she regained her composure, she kept her volume down while trying to sound encouraging at the same time as she replied. "Perhaps you should anyways? It would be a good day job when not fighting crime, no?" She flashed a smile to go along with it, before her expression turned more focused. Not paying attention to the movie at all for the moment, she continued. "This cooking club - is it accepting members? I have often cooked for myself, and while I would not say I am well versed in the kitchen I have always enjoyed it."
Finishing off the last of the cookies she had grabbed, Rimma mulled the prospect of joining the cooking club over - even though she had been the one to inquire about it, she had never actually *been* part of a school club before. She was always moving around after only a few months, often arriving at odd times of year when clubs were already full. Then there was the issue of not wanting to leave them with a vacancy they could not fill when she inevitably had to leave again.
Now, though, she was here to stay for the foreseeable future - which meant joining the cooking club would not be a bad idea. Glancing back to the movie, then back to Chise once more, it occurred to her that with how late in the year Rimma had joined it was possible the club was already full. It would not be the other red-heads fault if she had to turn her down, and she certainly didn't want to pressure her... But there was a hopeful look on the Russian girl's face all the same.
Idly, while waiting for a reply, she took a nibble of spicy hot chicken to calm the small sense of anxious anticipation she was feeling at the moment.

She should anyways? While the idea seemed tempting, it seemed it would be a little hard. Although, she wouldn't be in the spotlight if she were a hero, so a side job would be nice, especially if she is doing something she loves. Perhaps she could be like one of those fictional heroes she had seen kids reading in middle school, keeping their identities hidden by having a secret identity. It just might work! Chise grinned and nodded to Rimma, very much liking the idea she posed. "The only thing is I wouldn't even know what to name a bakery. I'm not very good at coming up with names. It does sound like a fun idea though," Chise said softly with a sheepish chuckle, they were still watching a movie after all.
Chise turned her attention back to the cold emitting girl, hearing her ask if the cooking club was still accepting members. She noticed the semi-sad look on her face, perhaps worried that no clubs would still be open considering how late in the school year she was. "Ah, of course we are! The cooking club is open to anyone who wants to learn how to cook and wishes to share their love of food with other peers!" Chise said, perhaps a bit too loudly. She couldn't help but be passionate about the things she loved! Chise recoiled a bit, softly apologizing to those around her. "We would be more than happy to welcome you into the club, Rimma," Chise said softly, softer than she had anything said previously. "I'll let the president know about your interest and see if we can't get you in for our next meeting. I'll try and get you an applicant form...or I suppose you could tell me your information and I can write it down to fill out the form myself if it's too much," Chise said, tapping her chin as she thought about what would be the best way to go.
Speaking of the cooking club, it got Chise's mind thinking of what Rimma was proficient at. "The cooking club just doesn't cook, we bake as well, so don't worry if you're not good at one. It's a learning process for everyone. I myself am not as strong in cooking as I am baking, but I am learning a bit more every day," Chise said with a small smile, finishing a peanut butter blossom she had picked up from her run at the cookie table.

Her fellow red-head seemed to take to the proposed compromise - of being a hero and running a bakery - and Rimma couldn't help but return the grin with one of her own. Though, since Chise had mentioned it, her thoughts turned to the subject of names for such a place. She tilted her head slightly to the side and pursed her lips thoughtfully, idly wondering over the naming conventions here in Japan.
As Chise informed her that the cooking club was accepting new members, that subject was tossed out of mind completely. Gray-blue eyes lighting up, the passionate sentiments the other girl expressed left Rimma feeling inspired and even more eager. She hardly even noticed her fellow red-head had raised her voice, until she was apologizing to those around them anyways - at which point Rimma gave a few apologetic glances around the room as well.
Then, Chise went on to say she would help get her enrolled into the club - and Rimma couldn't help but give a beaming and grateful smile at that. Being mindful of the volume of her own voice, she first gave a nod and replied. "Balshoye spaseeba, Chise-San - ah, that is to say thank you very much in Russian." Afterwards she gave a small, polite shake of her head. "A form should not be too hard, no? I would not want to impose and waste your time with something I could handle myself - though I do appreciate the offer, and I will keep it in mind if something does leave me stumped when filling it out."
The subject turned to strong suits, the cooking club vice-president mentioning that she was better at baking than cooking. Stifling a laugh into a quieter giggle, Rimma replied in a light hearted tone. "Even if it is half as strong as your baking, I would think you could cook circles around most." It was more to compliment how good she found the other girl's baking to be, from the cookies she had sampled, and as Chise finished off a cookie Rimma glanced down at her own plate to find herself fresh out.
Brow furrowed in mild dismay and cheeks puffing out, Rimma actually was pouting for once - but only for a moment. Setting to finishing off her chicken instead, she offered some information on her own experience when it came to the culinary arts between spicy warmth-giving bites. "I only know a few recipes when it comes to cooking or baking, and can follow them well enough." Here, she paused to take a drink before continuing. "I am better at making... cold things, such as ice cream - more to train my Quirk than anything."
Flashing Chise a confident smile, she added. "Though I am sure I will learn quickly, no?"

The look on the other's face gave the impression of something like a child being rewarded for getting a good grade on a test. She didn't think someone would be so happy to be accepted into a club, but Chise didn't mind it at all. It was rather cute actually, like looking at a cute sheep playing in a field. Not saying Rimma was a sheep, just cute in a similar way. Chise did pick up one of the Russian words that Rimma spoke, recognizing it as 'thank you'. She was glad she knew at least the simple terms. "It's no trouble really. I'm always glad to see people interested in joining the club," Chise said with a soft chuckle making sure not too be too loud like she was before. Hearing Rimma talk about the form, Chise listened carefully, not wanting to interrupt at all. It didn't seem like Rimma was against it, if anything, she was more that capable of filling out said application form on her own. "It's no trouble, but I can get you one, probably after the movie. I have a few spares in my room that I took with me. If you want to stop by my room afterwards or I could come to your room with the paper. Whatever is easier for you. Where is your room if you don't mind me asking?" Chise inquired softly with a warm smile on her face. She was glad Rimma wanted to join her club, but wasn't going to force her to do everything to make her official.
Hearing Rimma speak about Chise cooking circles around most of the students here, she couldn't help the slight blush that spread across her cheeks. She wasn't used to receiving compliments like this, even if it was a small one. "E-Ehh? You really think so? There are people much better than me here, the president of the club being one of them," she spoke, twirling her hair our of habit. It was hard for Chise to take a compliment, she didn't think she was worthy of such praise. "I just feel more drawn to baking, perhaps because I enjoy sweets rather than savory food," Chise mused, tapping her chin in thought. Her thoughts were interrupted as she glanced over at the other redhead, seeing her puff her cheeks out in a pout. It was almost like looking in a mirror, Chise tended to pout like that too. The peach haired girl then looked down at the other's plate, seeing she was out of cookies. The violet eyed girl had to stifle a chuckle, finding it adorable the other was upset with the lack of cookies on her plate. "Um, if you would like Rimma-san, I have some extras in my bag we could share. I wasn't sure if my cookies would all be gone or not and was afraid I wouldn't get any. So I packed a small baggie with some extras just in case the situation should arise," she said, reaching into her bag and pulling out some extra cookies like she had said. She turned back to the fellow redhead with a smile, hoping to cure the other's pouty face with the newly found stash of cookies.
Chise listened as Rimma told her of her own strong points, saying she could make a few things fairly well. Practice did make perfect after all. She said she was used to making colder dishes considering her quirk. "Oh absolutely! We don't do anything complicated until everyone feels comfortable making the recipes we've covered previously," the poofy haired girl spoke with a smile. Chise was curious of what the extent of the other's quirk was, something revolving around the cold is what it seemed like. "If you don't mind me asking, what is your quirk, Rimma-san?" the violet eyed girl spoke up, wondering if she would share her quirk with the cooking club vice president.

Rimma nodded along as Chise explained she could get a form for her after the movie, before asking about her room. For a brief moment she had to pause to recall, not quite settled in enough to instantly know. She remembered easily enough, however, and replied quietly not to keep it a secret but instead just to be polite. "I am in Room 23, on the second floor. There is no rush, of course, so feel free to drop by whenever is convenient."
Her fellow red-head wanted to make it easy on her, but the Russian girl didn't want to be demanding or take advantage of her kindness either. She didn't know how busy the cooking club vice-president was or wasn't, with club business or simply other school activities, after all. She was going to leave it at that, but a moment of curiosity struck her and she asked. "Do you live on campus as well?"
Then, after Rimma had complimented her cooking, Chise's shyness made itself apparent once again. Although she found it the behavior amusing, the Russian girl did have to concede a small point - she didn't know how skilled others in the club were or weren't, so it was perhaps jumping the gun to make assumptions about relative levels of talent. The comment about sweet or savory caught her attention, though and Rimma found herself reflecting on that topic before giving her own answer with a small and slightly sheepish laugh. "I do not think I could pick between the two."
When she was lamenting being out of cookies, Chise's offer caught her attention. Instead of feeling at all embarrassed about being caught pouting, the bundled up red-head's expression lit up brightly at the offer. Making an effort to keep her voice down, she flashed the other girl a grateful smile. "Ah, thank you! You are a life-saver - though I do not want to take too many of what you set aside for yourself."
Afterwards, she explained her own strong points when it came to cooking and listened to what Chise had to say in response. It was a relief to hear that the club put emphasis on everyone being caught up to speed. The question about her Quirk was a slight change in topic, but the Russian girl didn't mind and she mulled over how to put it for a moment - nibbling on one of the cookies Chise had offered while she thought. "The best way to put it is frost or snow breath - my lungs are like freezers."
Once more a bout of curiosity struck, and she regarded her fellow red-head for a moment before asking. "If you do not mind me asking, what is yours?"

Oh, room 23? That was surprisingly convenient! "Ah, my room is 21 on the second floor. It seems we're practically neighbors, how fun," Chise said with a warm smile, reaching into her secret stash of cookies and sinking her teeth into the chocolate chip cookie her hand had chosen. It was crazy how life worked, so mysterious yet so fascinating. "We can head to my room after the movie and pick it up considering how close we are to one another," Chise offered, holding her cookie bag out to Rimma for her to take a couple. Maybe they could plan to see each other more considering they were one door down from one another, maybe she could invite Rimma over to her room to bake every now and then! It would be nice to have a baking party with some friends. Perhaps she'll pose the idea when they could be a bit louder.
When Rimma insisted on not taking that many from Chise's own personal bag, Chise shook her head and spoke up, while still being considerate of the people watching the movie around her, "Take as many as you want! I can make these cookies any time, they're pretty easy to make as long as you have the right ingredients. If you're a baking fanatic like me, you always make sure to have more than enough ingredients in case the need to bake should arise." Then Chise asked Rimma about her quirk, hearing that simply it was along the lines of icy breath. It seemed like a difficult quirk to possess, it seemed you would always be cold with a quirk like that if all you breathed was cold air. Chise could see it being useful in the summer but the winter, not so much. Chise hated the cold. It must be why Rimma was so bundled up, her quirk freezing her whole body to make the redhead go to lengths like this to stay warm.
Once Rimma talked about her quirk, it was time for Chise to talk about her own. Her quirk was still embarrassing to talk about, but it was part of who she was, it wasn't like she could change it now. "My quirk allows me to copy to voice of any person through lip contact. To put it in simpler terms, if I kiss anyone, I can copy their voice," Chise spoke, not getting flustered about talking about her quirk like she usually did. It was a bit surprising to the violet eyed girl really, perhaps this meant she was getting more comfortable talking about it with others.

Rimma perked up as Chise revealed her room was only two doors down on the same floor, giving an energetic nod at the offer to pop over after the movie. Having someone else in the cooking club, and especially the vice-president, so close at hand seemed like a stroke of good fortune to the bundled up red-head. Especially if she was going to be giving Chise Russian language lessons in exchange - neither of them would have to go very far out of their way to teach the other.
Chise's insistence that she could have as many as she liked was all the encouragement Rimma needed, and she plucked a cookie from the offered bag. Biting it in half much as she had the others, she savored the treat while considering how easy they apparently were to make. If that was the case, perhaps she should get in the habit of baking more often even outside of cooking club activities herself - it would be good practice, and she imagined offering baked goods to others was an excellent ice breaker.
After swallowing the first half of the cookie and explaining her Quirk, Rimma listened as her fellow red-head explained her own. It was a Quirk not like one the Russian girl had heard before, and for a moment she pictured Chise speaking with her own voice or the voice of her father. The mental image was too amusing for her to keep her composure, and she was forced to stifle a giggle so as not to disturb others.
Once she managed to pull herself back together, she flashed the girl a slightly apologetic smile - just incase she had caused offense or made the other girl feel awkward. "I did not mean to laugh - but I could not help but picture you speaking with my papochka's voice." She paused to stifle another small giggle before explaining further. "He is a very tall, burly man with a deep rumbling voice - so you see why that is amusing, no?" Then she paused, eyes briefly widening as she added. "Ah, papochka is very affectionate way to refer to your father... I am not entirely sure how it would best translate in Japanese."
Furrowing her brow and puffing her cheeks out thoughtfully once more, she stuffed the second half of the cookie in her mouth. She could think of equivalent terms in some other European languages, but she had either forgotten or had not thought to study what the right term in Japanese would be. It left her puzzled and frustrated, and she resolved to brush up on her Japanese more when she had the time.
Expression turning neutral once more, she pushed that matter out of mind and focused instead on Chise's Quirk. Reaching out to take a second cookie from the bag, she asked. "Can you copy a voice with just a quick peck on the lips, or does it take a moment?" Her tone was casual, seeing nothing at all taboo or deeply intimate about a kiss - in many parts of Europe but especially Russia, kissing was a much more relaxed sign of affection and respect almost no different than a handshake or bow. "Is the voice you are using right now one you have copied?"

After she explained a bit of her quirk, she watched as Rimma began chuckling, softly of course as to not make a ruckus during the movie. Was she laughing at her for having such a quirk? Was she laughing at the quirk itself? Chise softly frowned, she didn't think the other girl was one to make fun of others so easily, perhaps she was wrong? Any misconceptions Chise had were soon cleared as Rimma spoke up through her fit of laughter, explaining that she imaged Chise speaking in the voice of her papochka, or father as Chise would understand it to be. Well, a more stylized version of father a child would use, not a stranger. Rimma described her papa as being a large burly man with a deep voice. The idea alone even made Chise giggle, who would thinkg such a girl like her could speak in a voice fitting for that of an adult man. When Rimma explained the term for father she used was not a formal one but more of a playful one, it got Chise thinking a bit. Did Japanese have a way of lovingly referring your father? "Well we have the term 'chichi' and 'oto-san' but it's not as affectionate sounding as...papochka? Was that the word?" Chise asked, not wanting to get it wrong. "In English, the term would be 'papa' or 'daddy' to be affectionate. In Italian it would also be 'papa' or 'babbo'. There aren't that many affectionate terms for family in Chinese but I believe the term for father would be 'bà ba'. I only know four languages at the moment, and I'm only proficient in English and Japanese, but I hope to be fluent in Chinese, Italian, and a few other languages. I believe it will only benefit me in the future," Chise said with a grin, amazed she remembered such terms in all four languages.
"Maybe, since you'll be going to school here, I could help you with your Japanese if you need assistance," Chise offered, knowing how hard it must be to get accustomed to a new language in a new country. Rimma then spoke up, wanting to know more about Chise's quirk. The poofy haired girl didn't think the other would be so invested in her quirk, but it did get the violet eyed girl thinking about things she didn't have to think about on a daily basis. "It takes about two seconds minimum for my quirk to work," she responded when the question of time came about. "If I lock lips for longer, it does not change how long I can use a person's voice for." Rimma then asked if the voice she was using now was one she copied to which the peach haired girl shook her head. "No, the voice I'm using right now is my natural voice. I can use my voice whenever I want, just as you can use your own voice whenever. I have a time limit on the voices I copy. With each voice I copy, the time I can use them for goes down. For example, if I copy one voice, I can use it for an hour whereas if I copied three voices, I can only use each for fifty minutes," Chise explained a bit about her quirk to the other redhead before eating another cookie of her own.
