As James listened and started quietly humming along to his music he heard Haruuhi speaking from behind him, he paused the game to look at her and listen to her thank you
"Don't mention it, there's a mug of hot chocolate with some marshmallows in the kitchen if you want some, come and sit on the couch or one of the chairs either way and relax while you wait for your clothes to dry," he said as he turned his music off and switched back to the TV "I'll go get you a band-aid for that cut on your cheek, your parents will be worried if you go home with a cut cheek right?" he asked as he went to the bathroom to get a band-aid from the medicine cabinet, he also picked up a bottle of disinfectant and a cotton pad, he returned to the living area where Haruuhi was
"Come on, I'll disinfect it as well and patch it up," he said as he patted the spot next to him on the couch indicating that she should come sit next to him so he could mend her cut "Are you alright after that robbery though? Mentally I mean," he asked her "It seemed like you weren't really experienced with a situation like that, so are you feeling okay? Not feeling rattled or anything?" he asked her as he opened the bottle of disinfectant and soaked some into the cotton pad. |

Hot chocolate sounded like an absolutely amazing idea, and so Haruuhi didn't protest when it was offered. She would thank him politely before happily going to fetch the cup made for her, dressing it with a ton of marshmallows rather gluttonously before returning to the living room. James had already offered to go and get a bandaid for her cheek, and she just smiled softly as she munched at the top marshmallow. He was pretty sweet, worrying about her like this. Honestly, the only person that fussed over her, ever, was G. No one ever cared about her beyond him, and maybe the caretaker at the orphanage... but she wouldn't have kicked her out if she actually cared now would she.
Anyways, As he went off to fetch the bandaids, he mentioned how her parents would be worried about her if she went home with a cut cheek, and she just continued to smile softly.
"Yeah probably... my dad's going to ask me a thousand questions if I draw attention to it. I like it though, when he fusses over me..."
She admitted softly, blushing a bit as James came to sit on the sofa once more, tapping the spot next to him as he indicated wanting her to sit down so he could clean her up. She quietly obliged as she continued to sip on her delicious hot chocolate, the marshmallows slowly melting and adding to the wonderful flavor. She perched herself next to him quietly, letting him clean her cut without saying a word until he asked her if she was okay with everything that happened.
"Well... I've been through rough situations before, so I'm used to that... but any time I was in a situation like that, I never had to worry about anyone else's safety. I mean, the whole reason I want to be a hero is to make sure no other kid has to go through what I have but... today just... I don't know... I thought I had everything under control, but when you jumped in I just... I didn't know what to do. I was so scared those thugs were going to hurt the hostages and... I didn't realize until later that your distraction is probably what saved them... if everything had gone according to my plan? The cops would of pushed those thugs into a corner until they started using those hostages as shields... I keep telling myself I can become a Hero but... I don't know if someone like me is meant to be. My classmates are so much better suited to it than me."
She actually spoke pretty clearly and concise as she seemed to lose herself in her own thoughts again, this time voicing them aloud to James as he tended to her. She didn't know why she felt so comfortable with him, probably because of the whole situation they'd gone through together, but it hadn't been difficult at all for Haruuhi to open up about her fear of the whole thing.

When James mentioned that he had a hot chocolate for her she thanked him and happily went off to get it while he put his mug down to go get the bands aids and disinfectant, when he mentioned Haruuhi's parents she said her dad's going to ask a thousand questions but she likes it when he fusses over her "Yeah, it's nice when parents fuss over you, reinforces how much they care for you," he said with a smile, remembering when his mother used to fuss over him whenever he got into fights when he was younger, before she'd yell at him for being so reckless. When he asked her if she was ok she talked about how she'd been in bad situations but never really had to fear for someone else's safety and she thought she had everything control earlier today and then he jumped in and she didn't know what to do
"It's a scary thing, having someone else's life in our hands, but it's something we gotta learn to accept and control, I still get scared doing what I do, especially because I know if I get hurt or get busted, there's nothing protecting or helping me, so it doesn't matter how you are right now or if you don't think you're suited to it now, that's why we learn, I'm assuming you're going to UA right? Considering you mentioned your classmates are better suited to being heroes, that's why you're at UA isn't it? To learn, to improve, nobody is expecting you or your classmates to be hero capable material right now, some might be, some won't be, but you're learning and that's what matters right?" he said to her as he dabbed the cut clean with disinfectant and put a band-aid over it, it was a pink band-aid with a bunny on it, something he had in stock in case his sister hurt herself whenever she came to visit him "All better? or do you want me to kiss the booboo better?" he asked playfully, returning the box of band-aids and the disinfectant back to the medicine cabinet and then went to check on the drying clothes "Your clothes still have a while to dry so feel free to watch some TV if you want," he told her as he come back into the living room and sat back down on the couch |

Haruuhi just continued to smile gently as she reflected on James' statement. Having G fuss over her just meant that he cared about her, and Haruuhi knew that all too well, it's why she enjoyed being on the receiving end of his attention. It didn't matter what it was about, she just wanted him to worry about her. She didn't talk about it though, it wasn't something she should bring up to a stranger anyways, even if he had just helped her out.
She glanced over her shoulder at James when he wasn't looking at her, a curious gaze crossing her features as she tried to silently figure him out. She would finally reach out with her quirk, and start to peep through his cellphone in absolute silence. She turned her head away though when James had come over to disinfect the injury on her cheek. He'd talk about the experience, and immediately deducted that she was attending U.A, and she would just nod gently as he stuck the most adorable bandaid Haruuhi had ever seen onto her cheek.
"It doesn't have to be that way you know... I know... uhm, I mean I know a Vigilante you could rely on. A few actually. It's probably best if you don't work alone anyways, if you're insistent on remaining a vigilante."
She stated as her mind wandered to G once more, though this time for an entirely different reason. As much as she tried to goad G into becoming a pro hero, he seemed to be stuck in the ways of a Vigilante... So, maybe having someone like James around, a sort of sidekick, it might give them both that kick in the rear they need to go legit.
"Oh, uhm yeah I do go to U.A, and you're right... I've got a lot to learn about being a good hero before jumping out there... but, you seem to be doing okay? You can't be that much older than me... How come you aren't in U.A? That didn't look like the first time you'd taken down a criminal."
Haruuhi noted, a bit of a cheeky smirk appearing on her lips as she started to dig a little deeper. Not just verbally either, she was silently picking through things like texts and emails to make sure there was nothing sinister there. It was honestly something she did to pretty much anyone she met, to make sure they weren't working for Thunder in any way.
When he then made a joke about kissing her injury better, Haruuhi's face immediately went red again as she nudged him with her elbow, the best she could do while holding the hot cup of cocoa.
"I...I'm not a kid..."
She stuttered as she tried, and failed, to maintain her composure. It was a rather epic fail though as he mentioned her clothes still had a while to dry. She glanced back down at the clothes she was wearing, haven forgotten that it was actually his clothes.
"T...that's okay... I mean we can... just talk... you know? Uhm... I mean... maybe we can be... friends after this...

When James told Haruuhi how it's dangerous for James because he has no one to help him if he's ever in trouble she told him she knew a few vigilantes that he could rely on
"Hmm, I wondered why you trusted me even when I revealed I was a vigilante, I guess it was because I'm not your first am I?" he said throwing in an innuendo "First vigilante you've met that as," he added afterwards, so it seemed less like he was teasing her intentionally "But that'd be nice, having people to rely on, especially if you're there," he said casually, he then took a moment to think about the last part of her statement How long am I really planning on being a vigilante? I mean, obviously being a pro would be good because I'd make money off of it that I could use to support Kotomi he thought to himself "I mean, being a pro would be good but, I wasn't really a fan of the curriculum at UA, it didn't seem like much practical stuff was being taught, which I had a bit of a problem with," he told her. She confirmed she did go to UA and had a lot to learn and mentioned that he seemed to be doing ok and he didn't look much older than her, inquiring why he wasn't in UA "Those guys were just common thugs, the toughest one there was probably that one that you faced and even then the 2 of us took him down pretty easily," he said, explaining how he was able to handle himself today "Well, I applied and got accepted to UA but like I said, I wasn't a fan of the curriculum so I left, decided to work instead and be my own kind of hero on my own time, a hero I could be proud of," he said to her gently patting the band-aid on her cheek when it was affixed to her cheek, chuckling at how red her face went and her telling him she wasn't a kid, rocking to the side a little bit after Haruuhi's nudge "A kid wouldn't been able to fight like you did in the bank, that's for sure," he told her with a smile. After he came back to the couch after checking on her clothes she said that they could just talk and maybe become friends after today "Friends? Sure that sounds nice, I don't really have many friends right now truth be told, so a friend would be nice," he said getting comfortable on the couch "So, do you wanna tell me a bit about yourself and I'll do the same after?" he asked her |

'Not my... first?'
If this were a cartoon, steam would have just erupted over Haruuhi's head at that comment, her mind instantly wandering back to the dormitories when she was under the influence of QED, and when she tried to get that boy from 1-A to sleep with her. She shook her head whenever James then clarified that he wasn’t her first vigilante and Haruuhi put her cocoa down and gave James a shove, turning now to face him, face still red as a tomato.
“Are you going to keep teasing me like that?”
She accused him, a small pout appearing on her features as James seemed far too amused by the constant teasing. She really wasn’t used to it at all, so she had no idea how to react to any of this.
He then explained why he wasn’t in U.A and Haruuhi shook her head at him, sitting back more comfortably but still turned so that they were face to face.
“I’ve never been to a school until this year so, I can’t really speak from experience but… this is the first year that U.A exists, there’s going to be bumps and mistakes but you can tell that the teachers there really care about us. I’m pretty honored they’d accept someone l...like me in the first year. “
She admitted, a light smile gracing her lips once more as she thought back to school. Honestly, being at U.A was probably the most awesome thing that happened to her. She was learning to become a hero, she made tons of friends she never had before, she met Miku and then met G. Because of U.A she had friends and family that cared about her, her caretaker was right that going to U.A was the best thing for her…
“Well… uhm, like I said my name is Haruuhi Hajimari, im 15 and my quirk is radiowave manipulation. My body acts like a constant radio tower, I receive and send radio signals all the time. I go to U.A highschool because I want to be a Hero that can protect other kids from having to go through the stuff I did growing up. Otherwise uhm… I work part time as a maid at Maid Latte and just moved in with my adoptive dad a few months ago~ Oh! And I made a robotic dog, he’s called Robodog, but I mostly leave him at home until I can finish him.”
She explained, her stuttering slowing and eventually disappearing as she brought her hand up to her chin in thought. Nothing on James’ phone made him stand out to her as a bad person, just the usual guy stuff she usually found on her dad’s phone anyways~

After James teased her again she gave him a bit of a shove and pouted asking if he was going to keep teasing her
"Ok, I'll stop, sorry," he said as he continued to patch her up. When he explained why he wasn't in U.A she started giving her opinion on the matter, which James thought about
"Who knows, maybe I'll eventually enroll again, maybe I could even join your class," he said with a smile as he sat on the couch and turned to face her, she then started to tell him a bit more about herself, one part in particular piqued his interest "A maid huh? Maybe I'll stop by sometime, I've never been to a maid cafe before," he said making note to look up where the cafe is later. "Well, I guess it's my turn then, my name's James Walker, I'm also 15 and am half-Japanese and half-Australian, my quirk is something I call Black Lightning, it's basically lighting that's black in colour but instead of being super hot like regular lightning, it's super cold and can leave frost burns on contact, the reason I'm a vigilante and I guess hoping to become a hero is I want to help people and show the world that people with quirks aren't as bad as some people think they are, I work at a convenience store to support myself and have a 12 year old sister who lives with our grandparents in Hiroshima," he said to Haruuhi thinking if he covered everything important "Anything else you want to know?" he asked her |

She stated with a mock confidence, chuckling lightly until James then said he would visit Haruuhi at the cafe and that just made her face flush once more! Oh why did she have to tell him THAT... of course he would want to come and visit her at the cafe and that was going to be so embarrassing.
'I'll have to call him master...'
She thought to herself in embarrassment, only managing to nod gently as he said he'd never been to one. Oh boy, what a surprise he was in for. Thankfully, James then started to talk about himself in the same way that she had been talking about herself which gave her a moment to calm down her internal panic. Looks like she had been right about his quirk to an extent... and thankfully she hadn't been able to find out anything on his phone that might tie him to Thundershock.
"You have a little sister? That must be fun, I have a sister too but I think between us she'd be considered the older one. She's got things figured out much more than I do. Oh... uhm... yeah I did have one more question but... don't get mad okay? Uhm... Well... the only other people I know that have lightning based quirks are uh... related to Thundershock. I just... was wondering if you were too?"
She asked, lowering her voice as she really hoped she wouldn't insult James with her question. She couldn't be too careful... though she was pretty confident he didn't. Normally SOMETHING would turn up on their phones if they were, but nothing she found matched Thundershock at all, so she was hopeful.

When James mentioned he might try enrolling back to UA again she told him he shouldn't think she'll go easy on him just because he saved her and she is her classes vice president
"Oh, is that so, I'll have to be on my very best behaviour then won't I?" he said with a mischievous smirk that said he would be anything but. He saw Haruuhi's face flush up again when he mentioned he'd visit
"Yeah, I've always wanted to go to one but I've never really had any actual reason to, but maybe you've just got yourself a new regular," he said with a wink before talking about himself. When he mentioned his sister she mentioned it must be fun
"Yeah, it's pretty fun, she'll be starting junior high next school year so that'll be interesting, and of course I've gotta do all the brotherly things, like scare all the boys away from her," he said with a slight chuckle, Haruuhi mentioned she also had a sister but that her sister would probably be considered the older one
"Being the younger sibling is fun, you'd be the one getting spoiled, although I think daughters tend to get spoiled more no matter what age they are," he said with a slight shrug. She then asked him a interesting question and asked him not to get mad, asking him if he was related to Thunder because he had a lightning quirk
"Thundercuck? I sure hope not but, not that I know of, I highly doubt it though considering I was born in Australia and my parents had been living there for a while before I was born so, I don't think I have to worry about anything like that," he said
"Besides, even if I was somehow related to him, I wouldn't want anything to do with the bastard," he said, he could've followed that up with a few more choice words but decided against it. He then heard the dryer beep, signalling the clothes were finished drying
"Oh it looks like your clothes are ready," he said as he got up off the couch and went to the dryer and got the clothes out before going back to Haruuhi and handing her the clothes
"You can get changed in the washroom or if you don't wanna get changed in a wet washroom my rooms just over there and you can use that," he told her, pointing out his room

Spoiled hunh? Was Haruuhi spoiled when it came to G? Truthfully she wasn't sure... she'd never been spoiled before so had no idea what was just normal father daughter stuff, and what was him spoiling her rotten. An outsiders view would tell you however that Haruuhi was 100% spoiled rotten now. All she knew, was that she didn't hate her dad. She'd actually come to care for him a lot and crave his attention more so. She chose not to mention any of this though, choosing instead to pocket the thought to ponder at a later time.
"and what if I don't have a big brother? Does that mean there's no one to chase you off?"
She asked with a sly smile playing her lips, although that fake confidence was betrayed by how red her face was becoming. She did let out a relieved sigh though when James confirmed he wasn't related, and that even if he was he'd sock it to the old man the first chance he got. She just immediately assumes people with similar quirks had some kind of relation, but his explanation of his parents having been in Australia for so long really dismissed any possibility of him being related. Good.
"I'm glad. Sorry if that was a weird question..."
She muttered, stopping only when she also heard the familiar beep of the dryer indicating that her clothes were finished drying. She stood up and followed James, taking her clothes from him when offered and just nodding lightly. She wasn't sure she could handle being naked in the boy's room so decided to go to the bathroom where she would promptly change out of James' clothes, folding them and leaving them there on the counter before getting changed back into her own clothes. They were so warm and comfortable, she felt like it helped ease the chill that had crept into her earlier.
"Hey James... Thanks again, for everything today. I'm really glad it was you that was there with me. I should probably go home now though, my dad's going to start getting worried"
She told him as she was walking out of the bathroom in her own clothes once more.

When James mentioned that younger siblings get spoiled Haruuhi seemed to take a moment to think about that but then moved on to another topic. She asked that since she didn't have a big brother did that mean there was no one there to chase him off
"Why would you want to?" he said with a wink "Although, fathers also are known to chase off boys, so I guess I gotta watch out for him," he said drinking from his hot chocolate. When he explained that it was impossible that he was related to Thundershock she said she was glad and that she hoped it wasn't a weird question
"It's alright, I don't blame you, that guys done some horrible things and having a lightning type quirk makes people suspicious," he said with a shrug, it wasn't really the first time he'd been asked that question. Once Haruuhi's clothes were ready she followed and headed to the bathroom to change. Once she came out she thanked him for today and said she was glad he was there with her, but she should go home because her dad will be worried
"What can I say, I'm a regular prince charming," he said with a smirk "Oh wait a second, I almost forgot," he said as he went to his bedroom and ripped out a piece of paper from a notebook and scribbled his number on it he then went back out and handed the scrap of paper to Haruuhi
"We can't really be friends if you don't have any way to reach me right?" he told her "Do you need me to walk you anywhere?" he asked her

Haruuhi thought to herself nervously, smiling though as to not worry James. It wasn't as if the two were dating or anything so there was no reason for G to come after him, or anyone else for that matter. He was just a friend. A brave, quirky, handsome looking...
'Deep breath Haruu!!'
She thought to herself in a panic, only chuckling nervously as he made his remark about being a prince charming. He really had been, but she wouldn't openly admit that to a guy she just met! no way. She just smiled and took the number that he had given her and putting it in her pocket with her phone.
"Thank you, I'll be alright. I'll text you when I get home. You're already home so it would be silly of me to ask you to walk me home. Besides, if anyone saw us together at the bank, it could look suspicious you know? Besides, I don't have that far to go, and if anything my dad should be out and about."
She assured him with a smile, heading towards the door and slipping on her still soaked shoes. Well... at least the rest of her wasn't wet... she could deal with cold feet for the short distance it would take her to get home.
"Thanks again for everything James, I'll see you soon okay?"
