Many things start, when the person is young. One of these is belief in something. For most, that belief is given to them by their parents, and is continuously cultivated until they reach the age when they leave the nest, with their own personalities and interests. However, some aren`t as lucky in their endeavors. Sometimes the parents meet a tragic end, don`t feel themselves as worthy of the gift they have been given, or outright prove themselves to not be worthy of the gift. For that, there are special places, where these unfortunate lost lambs are given another chance.
It was one of the smaller duties of the priests in the church where Mosa worked. One of the priests there went to visit an orphanage, preschool or a school, and had a moment of sharing small stories from the bible, of course simplified enough that the children understood them. For some of the priests, this was a small countermeasure as to avoid another situation like the one many years ago, where the church was burned down. For most of them though, this was a relaxing way of connecting with the community and allowed them to make the children happier. Even his application to work as the social worker for U.A, Mosa didn`t allow himself to skip this task. After all, he couldn`t let his fellow priests hog all the fun and enjoyment.
The little orphanage stood before him, as he did small adjustments to his classic relaxed attire: His big black woollen shirt with equally black soft gloves, white pants with little black paw prints and a hat on top of him, with little bear ears sticking out of it. One of the first times he had visited this place, he had been called a little bit too scary, with how monotone his tone was, and his big figure. However, He had taken the lesson to heart, and now was fully embracing his role more as an entertainer for children instead of a stoic figure for the adults. Reason why instead of his classic bible like book, he was holding a simple wide blue notebook. He proceeded to briefly knock on the door.
"Ah, Hello again, ganbaroshi-san! Your turn this time, huh?" He was met with a little bow from one of the caretakers at the orphanage, a younger lady with short black hair, followed by Mosa himself bowing back. "Ah, its my personal honor." The lady proceeded to lead the man inside, walking him through the corridors. "Currently it`s playtime for the kids, as you might understand, so they are all gathered into the big hall! Should make your duties relatively easy!" "It`s never been a problem, believe you me. Children are always quite curious, whenever I step into the room." In a good way or a bad way, it always remained to be seen. "Just remember, you have till about lunchtime. After you are done, we will let the children eat." Mosa nodded. It was plenty of time to get to know them, so they wouldn`t be hiding for the presentation.
As he entered the hall, the caretaker clapped her hands together! "Listen everyone! Nice mister Ganbaroshi is here to answer all sorts of questions you might have! He will also tell you a nice story! Be respectable though! We don`t wanna scare him away after all!" Mosa proceeded to stand up straight, as he gently wiggled one of the ears on his cap in a little bit silly fashion. Time to get started!

Home. The young pink skinned girl hadn't truly known the full meaning of the word. Home, to most was somewhere where they could peacefully lay their head, kept safe from the dangers of the outside world. The young axolotl girl thought the word was nice, yet had never truly experience the warmth of a home before, perhaps a glimpse of it but she was still locked outside of the pearly gates, just awaiting to be taken into the warmth of a home. Since the incident, she has since lived in the orphanage with a wide variety of other children. Most kids were human in nature but there were a few children with odd features to them just as she had. There were some children the same age as her, some younger and even some older. The orphanage was not select in who it let in. It seemed everyone was welcomed here whether human, mutant, younger, or older. She was afraid of most of the human children but seemed to take a small liking towards those that were most similar to her. For the short time she had been here, she still kept to herself, afraid to let others into her life in fear of being hurt again. It was no different today, Kasumi sat in the corner of the room with a doll in hand, carefully brushing it's long brown hair. She had never seen a doll with hair like hers, maybe the orphanage could get some dolls with different colored hair.
The reason she stayed in the shaded part of the room was due to the sunlight. She grew sleepy and weak in direct sunlight but seemed to stay a bit more active in the shade although not much. No one else seemed to have this issue, she wondered why that was. Was it because of how she looked or was it something else entirely? As she continued to play in solitude, one of the orphanage workers came into the big play room, stating that someone new was here. Kasumi didn't look up at first, tending to the needs over her dollie. She would rather stay and play by herself, she didn't want to be around the other kids. After a few more strokes of her brush, Kasumi looked over to where the kids were gathering, seeing a rather large man with a wide torso and thin legs with a hat with bear ears atop his head. Kasumi blinked, her fins wiggling a tad as she looked at the new visitor. Ms. Kana had said he was going to answer questions and even read a story to everyone, what kind of story would it be? Would it be a boring story like one of the ones she had heard from visitors before, or would it be new and exciting sounding? Was it in the blue book that he held in his hand? He didn't seem all too special, although he was much taller than the other visitors she could remember. Kasumi turned to face te direction the man was, holding her doll on her lap. She didn't go over to the group but kept her ears open to listen as he read the story, she stayed in her shaded corner away from the group in the lighted part of the room. Kasumi, meanwhile, continued to brush the doll's hair, making sure she looked pretty.

Mosa was immediately swarmed by little children of all shapes and sizes. Soon enough, you couldn`t even see his legs anymore, as the small crowd had surrounded him, babbling all sorts of things that he could hear loud and clear: "Whoa, he is so big!" "Nah, he fat!" "Lift me on your shoulders!" "Are those bear ears real!?" "I`m hungry!" The caretaker clapped her hands again, a little bit worried if the man would be overwhelmed immediately. "Now now, children! One at a time!" However, Mosa just lifted his hand up confidently, motioning, stop. And the lady stopped, as she was a little bit confused. Mosa proceeded to sit down, with some of the kids going "Whoa!" At the sudden speed of the motion. He crossed his legs in a motion of some sort of buddha, as he lifted his hand in the air, with the kids all sorts of mystified...
"How."
For a moment there was a brief silence, with some children outright spooked at the sudden speech of the man. until one of the children realized what he was doing. "HI!" She waved energetically, and soon the whole crowd was doing the same thing. Some were trying to imitate the way he had said it. "Like an indian!" "Whats an indian?" "I am Mosa, or as you may call me: Chief Bearpaw." He clapped his thigh, getting the childrens attention. "Indeed, my ears might be fake, but nobody can deny, that I don`t have the paws of one." He proceeded to pull the glove off of one of his hands, as the orb in it shone brightly from it with blueish glow. a moderate "Oooh" was exhaled. "What does it do?!" "Some of you might have a similar power to this one. Unique in their own right. For me, my power is..." He lifted his hand to his cap... as little metallic pins keep the ears in place started spinning, making the ears spin like little windmills. Another "OOOOOH!" And clapping happened.
However, at this point he noticed, that all children were gathered around him. One of them was especially further away, playing with a doll, almost ignoring him completely in the shadows... She was a mutant type just like he was...
All of this was said with a calm tone, almost monotone. It was the sort of voice that showed how much he had used it in front of a crowd. Although, this was definitely different to what he was used to. They were always reacting, less concentrating on their own thoughts. He proceeded to lift the blue notebook onto his lap. "Now, before I tell you my story... I will ask you all a very special question..." The childrens eyes moved around, the place, clearly curious but confuddled. "How many of you have quirks?" Hands rose, some slower than others, others very much excited to show the big man their power and others being very awkward about it. "MY HAIRS BIG AND HEAVY!" "I...I think I can talk to bugs..." "This is dumb..." "I see, quite amazing powers indeed..."
"Now, another question... How many of you are proud of having your quirk?" The answers were quite a bit more mellow. Of course, there were some still who were extremely happy to show off what they could do, but some of them shook their heads, and some just looked at their little shoes. "Understandable... We do not always choose what we are given. However, there was one man, who struggled with a similar thing..." He opened his book, revealing a picture of an old man, with a long beard and glasses. Some of the children giggled... "I hope my friends at the church haven`t told you this story before... It just happens to be one of my personal favourites." He smiled just the tiniest bit. "One more question... what would you like me to call this silly little man? He is a very special fellow, so feel free to name him whatever you want."

Most of the other children were always a bit rowdy when visitors came, mixed feelings of excitement and fright filled their small minds with each new person they saw. Kasumi never really paid much attention to those that came to visit. Most told stories, some brought snacks, it seemed like they each did something similar when they came to the orphanage. The human children, and most of the mutant children, all happily gathered around the larger man, quite curious about who he was and why he was here. As if in an instant, the room grew quiet until the kids started babbling about again. The unusual pause in sound prompted Kasumi to look up, seeing as the big man had taken a seat with his legs crossed. He spoke with a deep voice, some children growing frightened because of it, however Kasumi continued to stare at him, her own curiosity rising. It wasn't that his voice was scary, it was more...unusual than those she had heard before, a bit loud even.
Kasumi turned her attention back to her doll continuing to beauty the doll by slowly brushing through her semi-tangled locks. She kept her ears open to listen though, her fins twitching and moving just a bit as the voices of the large man and the other children filled the air. "Do you want to go over and watch too Aki?" she asked the doll softly, turning her around so she looked into it's black buttoned eyes. Kasumi shook her head before talking once more, "Me either. Sitting over here is nicer but you can watch if you want while I brush your hair," she said, turning the doll around and sitting her on her lap, continuing on her word and brushing her hair to make it nice and smooth. Kasumi couldn't help but pause every so often, looking over to the big man, or as he said Mosa, and the excited children gathered around him. Her curious blue eyes watched as he removed his glove, showing small pinkish pads on his fingers and palm and a blue orb in his hand. Was it stuck to his hand or did he have it in his glove the whole time?
He then spoke up again, this time about having a power, some of the kids here, including her, possessed a quirk while others had yet to manifest theirs. Kasumi didn't know she had a power, did looking different from others meant she had a power? Her big round eyes watched in curiosity as he lifted his hand to his head, somehow making the small ears on his hat move as if they were real. "...Ahhh," a soft noise left the little one's lips as her eyes shone with awe, looking at them amazing sight, her lips curled into a small smile as she witnessed the sight. In one moment, he turned his gaze over to Kasumi, their eyes locking for an instant. The pinkette panicked and turned herself around, focusing on brushing her doll's hair again. She shouldn't be nebby, she had a job she needed to do! She couldn't waste time watching the others have fun. "S-Sorry Aki...maybe you can watch them when I'm done," she apologized softly, not wanting to hurt the doll's head by brushing too hard.
Even though she didn't want to listen, Kasumi couldn't help but tune in to the big man speaking to the other kids. He mentioned something about having a quirk, but Kasumi didn't know what he meant. What was a quirk? She remembered one of the assistants saying something about a quirk being like a special power that everyone had but that everyone had a different power. Kasumi wasn't sure if she possessed one or not, the other kids, however, were shouting out what special things they could do. After the crowd was finished sharing their quirks, Mosa asked then if they were proud of having their quirks. Kasumi set her doll down and hugged her small knees to her chest. Proud? How could she be proud if she didn't have one in the first place? Did he mean was she proud of being different than the others? She didn't really like it, being different caused those bad things to happen to her. Being different made her an outcast of the group. Her fins wavered a bit, her head resting against her hands. She didn't like being different.
Struggle? Hearing the word Kasumi lifted her head, her fins moving a little. There was someone who struggled with something like this? Kasumi slowly turned, not completely facing the others but not completely ignoring them either. She listened as Mosa explained he would read them a story about a man who struggled but he didn't have a name. He asked the kids what the man should be named, he would probably pick one of their names but Kasumi couldn't help but want to think of a name for the man herself. "...Mayou," she softly spoke, not loud enough for anyone to hear but herself.

All of the children waved their hands excitedly, trying to get Mosas attention. There were names aplenty, from all sorts of cool names, like Kiryuu and Kanto, to names pulled from cartoons on tv, And even silly names like bebop and just plain old bob. "hmmm... Good choices all of them, that is for sure! The man would certainly be proud of any of them." His hand went over to his chin, as he gently caressed it, his face staying as serious as ever. "Now, how could I possibly choose only one..." However, his eyes once glanced over towards the little mutant girl from before. She had now joined the rest of the group, still shy as ever... However, he couldn`t exactly hear what she wished for, only seeing her lips form an "ou..." "I know. I shall combine those names into one glorious name worthy of him."
He pulled pencil, as he proceeded to write the letters under the person. "A soft B from Bob, since he is indeed quite silly. An from Kanto, as he is rotund like a little hill of countryside." Small chuckles erupted from the crowd. "He is fat!" Mosa ignored them as he continued. "And a classic ou. Almost like "oh, i`m sorry." Even he remembers to say it still." He waggled his finger almost comically towards the fat callers, getting little chuckles once again. "I`ll also add a j, as I am telling this story. Consider it a little bit of an artistic touch." And thus the name that read on the paper, was "Banjou." "I would say it is quite fitting. It might be instrumental to his success." A little sound that almost sounded like a "heh" came out of his mouth. "Say it after me, "Old man Banjou"."
He turned the page on his notebook, revealing a picture of the man, now in the middle of people in a town, surprisingly hairless and young looking. "Now, how did Banjou get into this trouble? Well, he lived in a little town with many other citizens, in a time where there was no television or any sort of lightsources, other than fire and the sun, moon and the stars. He himself had just become an adult man, ready to take on the world." The story started with a good old little bit of exposition. Admittedly, it was not scientific, but that was not important in this case. "However, one day, he was invited to the local temple. The gods had decided to give him a gift for his perseverance..." He thought for a moment. "Perseverance means handling things well, if you are wondering." Some of the kids nodded their heads.
"However, as the man stepped forward in front of the gods, there was a flash of light..." He turned the page, and showed a man in complete astonishment, with the beard from before dangling under his neck. "And the man got his gift." The dead seriousness of the sentiment had atleast the caretaker laughing. "The gods simply said, that he was destined for greatness, and that he would lead his town through the hardships it would have..." The page was turned again, as the now very familiar man was walking down the road, with people pointing towards him, some in laughter, and some with wide hilarious eyes. "With those words, the young man was made to walk home, as the people around him took notice of him. Many curious statements were thrown his way. How he had let himself go, how Good he had been before, and slowly he received the name... "Old man Banjou".
He put his finger in-between his notebook closing it for a moment. "Now, the next question is... How do you think he was feeling at this time?"

Kasumi didn't think her name would get picked, considering her voice would have been drowned out by the other kid's voices. The other kids had better name choices than hers, probably more creative too. The large man would almost definitely pick one of theirs. Kasumi looked over to the group and blinked...he was going to combine the names? How would he be able to combine all the names into one name? That seemed really tough. Could there be a chance her name was picked to go into the name of the man in the story? She watched as Mosa pulled out a pencil and began picking letters from each of the names, even explaining why he picked them. A B from Bob, the letters AN from Kanto, a J to make it fun, and the letters OU. Kasumi blinked, her eyes widening, the last letters he chose were from her name. Kasumi turned herself around to face Mosa, still in her corner. Did he actually hear her name? She didn't think the letters were in any of the other names the kids picked. Her eyes seemed to twinkle with child-like wonder, quite amazed her chose part of the name she said to be in part of the story. Kasumi sat with her legs crisscross applesauce with her little hands resting in her lap as she tuned in fully to the story.
The name he had made for the man was called 'Banjou', it sounded rather funny for a name. Kasumi let out a soft chuckle, but stopped herself so she could listen to the rest of the story. Mosa said for everyone to say his name but Kasumi didn't know if she could. He counted to three and everyone spoke up, calling out the character's name. "...O-Old man Banjou…" she said softly, wanting to say the name that she helped to make. She didn't want to listen at first, but now she didn't want to miss any of the story, not with part of the name she picked in it! The story began with Banjou living in his small town that didn't have a lot of the shiny things that they had today. Banjou was invited to a temple, Kasumi wondered what was at the temple. Were they having a party at the temple? Was it his birthday? Hopefully someone got him a present. She listened as someone did indeed give Banjou a gift, a strange one at that that sounded really big. She wished she could see the pictures of the book, but Kasumi closed her eyes and imagined what the pictures might look like. After a big flash of light, Banjou got his present. From what the large man said, it seemed like the man did not get a real present, so then what was the flash of light?
Kasumi listened as Mosa explained people laughed at Banjo as he walked back into his home. Why were they laughing at him? Laughing at people wasn't nice, it was hurtful. The mutant girl listened as Mosa asked the kids how Banjou might have felt during this. The pinkette couldn't help but frown and look down at her lap, her fins drooping a little, "...sad," she said softly. She wouldn't want to get called mean names or be talked bad about without knowing.

"He was angry!" Said one of the louder kids. "He wanted to beat everybody up and grabbed an axe and...!" "No, He was sad! Bullying is not nice!" "Maybe he was hungry..." Mosa nodded proudly. These kids were very creative when it came to answering his questions in different ways. "Indeed... he felt all of those emotions." The briefest of smiles flashed through his face, before once again lowering into his usual high nosed posture. "Even hungry. Some people need food to calm themselves down." Some of the kids turned to look towards one of the more hefty looking ones... and they proceeded to pat him on the back. The caretaker considered, if she should have said something, but let it slide, since the kid seemed to take it well enough.
Mosa proceeded to open a new page again. It showed Banjou with a pair of scissors trying to clip the beard off of himself. "In his anger and desperation do to the continuous mentions, he even tried to cut it off... however, the beard stayed on his face, always growing back almost instantly right after he had gotten rid of it." Next page included a picture of the man leaning into his hand, as the moon rose from a window nearby. "With nothing really working out for him, He was starting to run out of options... He spent many a night contemplating what he should do... And sadly only thing he could do seemed to be getting used to looking like an old man. After all, the gods had said it would lead him to greatness. But how?" Mosa lowered his head a bit. as he turned the page, with Banjou once again walking down the street, this time people were looking more friendly than scared, aside from some kids. "And so he spent his days, instead of growling at every mention of the name, simply nodded in acceptance, and over time, people seemed to accept it. However, the nickname stuck, as some of the kids found it very charming... However, he noticed that the beard kept him warm over night, so it wasn`t as bad as he had thought."
However, next page included an almost white page, with only some houses blocking the view, covered in snow. "Then, came the winter. The cold air swept through the little town, as it struck everyone fiercely. The timing couldn`t have been worse, as none of them had prepared for it. Animals had hid themselves under the snowy banks, and nobody could find them... and venturing any further just meant colder and colder weather, which would lead to horrifying consequences..." He turned the page. Banjou was thinking, with a pile of something behind him. "Having always been the surviving sort, Banjou was thinking what to do. The village was surely going to die out in the cold. He believed in what he had been told, that he was going to be the saviour... Yet how? The only thing he had was a giant pile of hair from his countless attempts at shaving..."
He turned the page again, this time it was Banjou sitting next to the big pile of hair, with multiple people surrounding him. "And then he got an idea! A huge task, that he believed he could solve! He proceeded to work immediately, as he started cutting his beard. For day after day, almost without eating anything at all, he gathered a humongous pile of hair, almost the size of his house in itself, only leaving him the bed for him to rest in." He lifted his finger. "After that, he proceeded to knit. Knit knit knit! He knitted for so many days that others were getting worried... until on the final day, dressed in fully red clothing, he walked to the town square..."
Mosa turned the page one last time, Revealing Banjou, looking a lot like a certain mythical figure, whilst throwing shirts and jackets. "And proceeded to gift everyone humongously thick clothes. They were comfortably, full of his beard hairs! Everyone was overjoyed and thankful, yet this was not food they could eat... However Banjou proceeded to finally shout..." Mosa changed his voice a tiny bit lighter... almost unnoticeable but he sure tried. "With these clothes, we can hunt in the cold! And I will make sure we can do it! Because I BELIEVE IN YOU ALL!"
Mosa closed the notebook, As he looked at all of the children. "So, what happened to old man banjou and his village? Well, with what Banjou had done for them, the villagers were happy to believe in his words too... They survived winter easily." He crossed his hands over notebook, quieting down for a moment. "Uh, what does it have to do with us then?" "Well..." Mosa rubbed his chin. "The mighty beard was almost like one of your quirks. The moment he stopped and believed in his gift, when the situation arose... he didn`t back down. He kept going forward, even at a risk of the people insulting him for his sillyness."
Mosa proceeded to stand up. "Now then, before you go eat, you may ask me some questions, if you want to. Albeit if you don`t have any, I`ll send you off with one sentence, like the great powers at the temple." Mosa pointed his hand at the children. "Believe in your quirks. You will find a use for them, as long as you believe in them." That spirit of belief, was what he wanted to teach these children. The belief would get them through their hardest times. And for children in this sort of place, it might be the only possible thing keeping them going.
Mosa walked to the side, as the caretaker clapped her hands together, telling the kids to go eat if they didn`t have any questions. "He is a busy man, we don`t want to tire him out completely!" "On the contrary, the questions energize me!" He definitely didn`t want to scare the children off. That would be the worst ending for this situation!

Kasumi felt bad for old man Banjou, those people were making fun of him for something he couldn't control. The were bullying him because he was different. In a way...Kasumi felt for old man Banjou, while not being hurt right up front, she felt that others spoke of her behind her back, saying mean things to hurt others. Kasumi looked back over to her doll Aki and held her close, holding her only friend here at the orphanage. Aki was the only one Kausmi trusted, whom she could tell anything to. Aki wouldn't say anything mean about Kasumi, and that's how she liked it. Kasumi listened as Banjo wanted to change how he looked so people wouldn't say mean things about him. He tried cutting the hair on his chin in hopes to become how he was before, but the hair kept growing back. Kasumi's fins lowered close to her head...something you wanted to get rid of in hopes of being normal...Kasumi could feel that.
Kasumi listened as the large man explained that Banjou had to learn to live with looking the way he did, since there was no way he could change how he looked. This was his gift after all...but it didn't seem like much of a gift. Gifts weren't supposed to hurt you, they were supposed to make you happy. The pinkette was surprised to hear the other people weren't saying mean things to him anymore, they were more friendly towards him even if he did look different. Did this mean there was hope for people like her as well? Mosa then went on to say that winter had came, the cold and snow washing over the little village, the villagers quite unprepared for such an event. Kasumi held Aki just a bit tighter against her, worried for poor old Banjou. She didn't very much like the cold so she assumed the other wouldn't as well.
As the large man turned the page and explained what Banjou did, Kasumi grew a little confused. He used his hair to help the people? Could hair really help people during the winter? Kasumi reached her hand to her hair and looked at the wavy pink locks. Would her hair help people too? Maybe not. Banjou cut his hair to the point where he had a large mountain of it building and building in his home. He then used his hair to make sweaters and warm blankets for the people so that they could stay warm during the winter. Hearing that they were warm, Kasumi wished she had a Banjou blanket of her own. She closed her eyes and imagined what a blanket from Old man Banjou might be like...definitely warm for sure.
The story was soon over, and the moral of it? That special powers, or quirks, can come in handy if you stop thinking that you can't do nothing. You should never stop believing in yourself and the gifts you were given. Kasumi opened her eyes and looked down at her little pink hands, could she be useful to others to just like Banjou was? As she listened to Mosa's message, her eyes seemed to twinkle, a new hope shimmering in her blue orbs. Soon enough, Ms. Kana said that it was time for lunch, most of the kids getting up and heading over to her since they had no questions to ask the large man. The blue eyed axolotl girl slowly stood up, brushing her dress off and holding Aki close to her. The small girl hesitated before slowly going over to where the large man stood, having a question of her own. She hesitantly reached her hand out and tugged on the man's pants since he was so tall, she'd be afraid he wouldn't hear her. "...Mr giant, sir," she spoke, forgetting what the man said his name was, "do you think...do you think even someone like me could...could be useful and help others?" she asked softly, her fins wiggling just a bit, afraid he might not want to answer her question. She had a glimmer of hope in her eyes as she looked up to him, his story giving her a new feeling although she didn't know what it was exactly.

Mosa looked an as the army of children slowly exited the room. Nobody had anything to ask or clarify. Or so it atleast seemed. He wiped some dust from the floor off from his pants, as he seemed relatively content. It seemed that the kids had either been taught to be relatively obedient or they really were as smart as he had thought them to be. That meant that his job here was, in simple terms, done. For a moment he was already thinking a little bit about what he should do next. Perhaps visit U.A and see if anybody there still required help. His schedule during these times was quite busy...
However, his attention was soon grabbed by a gentle questioning sentence. He looked down towards the little girl that had caught his attention from before. "Hmm?" He proceeded to kneel down. He didn´t exactly call himself a giant, but with his wide posture, a child might think that very easily. His tone was as calm and relaxed as ever. "What is it, dear?" With children, it was of utmost importance to take them as seriously as the adults. Nobody wanted to seem as dumb after all.
Taking a closer look at the girl, she had this very lizard like appearance. A mutant type quirk most assuredly. She had been in this form since his first sight of her, and had not dropped it even after joining to calmly listen to the story. Her little fins on the sides of her head wiggled nervously, as her sapphire eyes gleamed in his direction. She was a rare animal that was for sure, but there was not even a little bit of surprise in his eyes. People like her were a "Of course there is." He gently nodded his head. "In the case of the story, it took a long time for him to realize what he could do and use his little ability for." He lifted his hand, pointing towards her with it. "In your case, it might take a lot shorter time, once you start experimenting with it. After all, if you are like an animal, you will have similar skills to that animal." He thought for a moment. "In your case, you might even grow up to be an olympic swimmer, or perhaps an underwater explorer." As jobs, they would probably be pretty exciting for a girl her age.
With the girl now seemingly brave even enough to even initiate a conversation with him, Mosa decided to ask her a couple of questions of his own. "Now then, let me introduce myself again. I am Mosa. What might be your name?" His head moved a little as he glanced towards the little doll in her hands. "Oh, and what is your little friends name?" Come to think of it, she had been playing with the toy before. "I assume she is quite a personality to miss out a story for." He joked, albeit, with his tone, it might be possible to miss.

Kasumi was a little startled when he looked down at her but soon calmed down as he got back down to her level, not appearing so giant in these few moments. She softly asked her question and watched his face, wondering if he could answer her question at all. She wanted to be helpful to others like Banjou was but didn't think she could do that. A soft gasp left her tiny mouth hearing the giant say that there was a way she could help people. Was there really? He wasn't just saying nice words to try and cheer her up? Kasumi held onto Aki just a bit tighter, listened as Mosa went on to talk again. Banjou, in the story he had read to them, didn't know what he could do with his gift until the right time came. Was it the same for Kasumi? Would she just have to wait for one day where she could help? That's what Banjou did, even if he did have to face mean words after he received his gift.
Kasumi watched with wide eyes as Mosa pointed at her, explaining that it might not take as long for her to learn to help others as she was different than Banjou was. She just had to...experiment. Hearing the word made Kasumi frown, she heard the men who saved her say that word a lot. She didn't think it was a good word, she was scared of it. "...I can heal cuts...auntie used to cut me and hurt me but the cuts went away after a while," Kasumi said, holding Aki tighter, her small body trembling slightly remembering such a horrific event. She didn't want to think back to it...she didn't want to see her auntie again...she was afraid it would happen again if she let her guard down. Hearing Mosa talk about swimming, however, Kasumi perked up a bit, liking the idea of swimming, even directing her mind from the bad thoughts to happier ones instead. When she was smaller than she was now, she used to swim a whole lot. She missed swimming a lot.
The giant man then introduced himself once more as Mosa, she had forgotten when he said it the first time, fascinated mostly on his size. The pinkette then heard him ask what her name was to which she softly replied, "...Kasumi." She wasn't very good at talking to others, but something about the large man made her feel...safe, like he wasn't going to hurt her. Mosa then asked about her doll and what he name was. Kasumi looked down at Aki before showing her to Mosa, "...this is Aki. She's my best friend," the blue eyed axolotl girl spoke up, telling the man about her friend. When asked about her missing the story, Kausmi spoke up, "Aki likes having her hair played with. She likes it a lot when I brush it and put clippies into her hair," the small girl pointed to the few barrettes in the doll's hair. Kasumi softly smiled when she looked at Aki, "We tell each other secrets and stories all the time when we play together because the other children don't want to play with us," she spoke up before looking at Mosa again.

...The girl proved to be way less excited about the prospects Mosa had offered... She actually seemed outright sad. How befuddling. However, the reason he found out, was way worse, and made the situation outright traumatic for a child. Apparently her ability wasn`t just based in being able to swim around very well, but more along the lines of regeneration. Hearing what her mother had done to her, Mosa couldn`t help but pull his head back a bit in shock. After saying it, she proceeded to shake, holding her little doll tightly. The feeling of pity almost overwhelmed him. He wanted to comfort her, but going too strongly at it might make her more scared...
"Hmmm... so a healing ability then..." He rubbed his chin with his hand, as he quickly lowered it back onto his knee. He didn`t want to push on that topic just yet, as what her mother had done, had clearly left its scars, even if they were healed. The girl proceeded to give him her name. "Kasumi, then? A fittingly cute name for a girl such as yourself." What the girl needed, was praise. And a whole lot of it. Next up in the name list was Aki, her doll. "Oh, a best friend! You must take very good care of her." Albeit, the idea that the doll was her only friend, was a bit worrying... However, a tiny grin grew on his face, as she finally smiled proper, explaining all the little things she had done for her "Best friend." The girl really loved this doll. He made a mental note to be gentle with it, if it ever ended up in his hands.
"Oh, you are a fellow storyteller?" Gentle tone in his words continued. There was something so innocent about the way she did things. He couldn`t help but feel like he was wearing silk gloves, trying to not poke any sort of weak spot, before she was ready to tell it herself. "What kind of stories do you tell? Are they based in truth, or are they something you`ve read from a book? Or perhaps..." He placed his hand over his mouth in a shocked fashion... his face remaining unshocked. "You`ve come up with them yourself?" The girl had quite a lot of imagination, that is for sure. He wouldn`t be surprised at all, if she did tell her own stories.
However, eventually he felt the need to address the little elephant in the room... "Hmmm... why don`t they want to play with you? Is there anything specific you could come up with?" He gently proceeded to extend his hand in her direction. "Don`t worry, I can keep a secret too." If the girl herself had done something, she had nothing to fear. Mosa however did have his fears... Was the hate towards mutants still as rampant, as it was back when he was a child? "Besides, stories are made to be shared... Feels weird that they wouldn`t be interested in hearing them..."

Kasumi looked up at Mosa, hearing him call her cute as well as her name cute. A small smile fitted the girls' face, hearing such kind words form this man she didn't know. He was similar to the men that saved her...quite nice and comforting. Mosa then turned his attention to Aki, saying she must take good care of her. Kasumi nodded, her fins wiggling as she looked up at him with seemingly shimmering eyes. "I always protect Aki. When we play, when we eat, even when its time for sleep, she's always with me," Kasumi told Mosa, holding Aki up and kissing her head before hugging her once more. She didn't know what she'd do without Aki, she'd be completely alone in such a cruel world. Having Aki in her life was like having a light to watch over and help her along the way.
When Mosa asked about telling stories, Kasumi nodded. She liked telling stories to Aki whenever she could. The pinkette listened as Mosa asked what kind of stories she told Aki to which she gained a bit more confidence and spoke, "Sometimes I read her stories from the shelf with the books on it other times I make up my own stories to tell her. Our favorites are about princesses," Kasumi said, still with the twinkle in her eye, the smile on her face a little bigger than it was before. She felt like she could let her guard down a little around this giant, he seemed to enjoy stories just as much as her. A soft chuckle left her lips as she played with Aki, moving her arms and legs to dance.
Just as she finally grew a bit happier than before, the big man then asked why the other kids didn't play with Kasumi. Her smile soon faded as she stared down at her shoes. She shook her head and held Aki close to her again. She didn't know why the others didn't want to play with her. Sometimes, she played with the other mutant kids, but the others didn't want to play with her. She didn't know why...she didn't think she did anything wrong. She looked over to see Mosa holding his hand out to her. She blinked once before hesitantly moving her hand over to place it in his large one. It felt warm to the touch against the coldness of her pale pink skin. Her smile soon returned, a small grin on her face as she looked over at her hand in Mosa's own. She wanted to share her stories with the other kids but no one wanted to listen. No one seemed to care.

Two little princesses, one reading the other stories about princesses. Protecting her and being with her wherever she went. It was an insanely charming image, and the more questions he asked, the more confident the girl got. This girl clearly seemed happy to finally have someone alive to talk to. Well, her imagination had made this doll alive for her, so that she could keep her company. As they danced, Mosa let out the happiest little chuckle, just enjoying this little showing. It was almost impossible for her to imagine someone hating this girl. But as always with orphans, there was something there...
Something that still haunted her little mind... and immediately when he dared ask something a little bit more personal, she was already looking at her toes. She shook her head and hugged Aki even tighter. She didn´t utter a single word. And sadly, that gave Mosa a quite good picture about the situation. "Of course you wouldn`t know..." He lamented quietly. The girl reached out to grab his hand however, and Mosa proceeded to gently caress the little palm. "You have done nothing wrong. Some of us just have gifts that take longer to show others, that they are harmless, and not weird in anyway. That is the big task ahead of you." Maybe a little bit too big of a task for a little girl to do alone... He had to think of something to make it easier for her...
"How about..." He talked even slower. to make sure she heard every single word clearly. "After you go eat, we gather the rest of the kids together again. But this time..." He gently placed his free hand onto her shoulder. The grip was a little bit more tight, almost like trying to seep some determination into the child. "...You would be the storyteller, reading one of those books to your fellow children?" It was a huge proposition, he knew this. The first time talking to a big group of people would make anybody shake in their boots. However, he had a clear way to help out with it. "If you want, I`ll be sitting there with you, and help you out anytime you feel too afraid to continue." He continued caressing her tiny hand slowly.
"While you eat, I will ask your caretaker for another session. It`ll be a little bit longer than I had planned for this meeting, but I don`t mind." Of course, he would need to explain this to his coworkers, but knowing them, they would be very much so alright with it. There was only one real wall, that might make this plan fall. The most important piece: "It depends on if you and Aki want to do this. Do you want to try it?" He didn`t want to seem even a little bit forceful. She could see his gentle eyes through his glasses, as they looked at her trustingly, giving her all the time she needed to answer.

Kasumi looked over to Mosa's hand, seeing him gently hold her little hand in his own big one. It was warm, but it felt nice. She would hold her auntie's hand wherever they went, it was a good feeling. She listened as Mosa spoke, telling Kasumi she did nothing wrong and that the gifts that some people possessed were harder to show off and needed more time. Kasumi frowned and softly nodding in response to Mosa's response, letting him know that she heard him. She didn't know why the other children didn't want to play with her...was it because she pushed them away when they came around? Was it because of her fear of trusting others? She wasn't quite sure...she didn't know if she even wanted to find out the reason. Why couldn't she just stay in the little she had made for herself.
The blue eyed girl looked back up to Mosa, hearing him ask if she wanted to read a story to the other kids instead of him. Her? Read a story? Kasumi wasn't sure that she could do that. If they didn't want to play before, what made the giant man so sure they would listen now? A soft gasp left her lips, feeling his strong hands on her shoulders, holding her in place in case she were to run away. Kasumi wouldn't run away, she had a feeling this man wouldn't hurt her. Kasumi was scared to read for everyone...what if she messed up? What if they didn't like the story she read? A slurry of bad thoughts filled her head until Mosa said he would sit with her to help her if needed, brining the young mutant girl out of the negative slump. If the large man was by her side...could she really do it? The kids all seemed to like his story...perhaps they might like her story too? The young pinkette looked back up at Mosa and softly nodded, "...I'll try," she said, not wanting to make the giant sad because she refused. Kasumi gave Mosa a quick hug before going over to Ms. Kana and one of the helpers at the orphanage. She took the helper's hand while her other hand held Aki and headed off to eat lunch with the other kids.
Ms. Kana walked over to Mosa and softly smiled, "She seems to have really warmed up to you. It makes me happy to see a smile on her face, I'm glad you were able to give Kasumi her smile back. She is afraid of getting close with the other children...well...most of the staff as well. I was only made aware of her situation when she was brought here. I would love to get close to her but its hard for her to trust anyone because of her past. I really appreciate you taking the time and talking with her, though, thank you," the caretaker said. She would gladly let the man stay if only to see the children happy and having fun, especially Kasumi, the quietest one of the bunch.

The little girl was confused as expected. Mosa kept a stern yet gentle look on her, waiting for her answer... It took a long time to come out, but eventually, she said a quiet yet still easily hearable acceptance. "I`ll try." "And that is the only thing we all need to do sometimes." He let her go, assuming she would go eat now. Problem of long talks and stories is that they take a long time to do, and he had kept her around for way longer than necessary. However, before she left, she gave him a hug. Mosa couldn`t help but feel a little bit jolly after such a nice motion, as he stood up, and watched her go.
However, he himself didn`t have a long break, before another person joined his company. One of the caretakers showered him with praises about how well he was handling her. "You learn a thing or two after you work with people from different walks of life for a long time." He said bluntly, turning his head just a little bit to see her from side eye. Apparently, it wasn`t just the other kids seeing her quirk as a creepy one, but also a little bit on her. Albeit, with her situation what it was... he couldn`t blame her for being anti social. "She is at the age where even smaller things can have a huge effect on her psyche. If I am able to make her meeting me have a positive one, I couldn`t be happier." He clasped the notebook in his hands. He truely hoped this little showing would truely allow her to become more accepting with herself... perhaps even help her find a proper family...
However, that reminded him of the thing he was supposed to bring up. "Would it be alright to have another storytime after the meal? I know it is perhaps a little bit too much, I do not know how tired they get after eating..." Nothing was more agonizing than a tired and bored child sitting in the crowd whilst their parents tried to tell them to be quiet. And with what he had planned, it would be even worse. "You see, Sumi... I mean, Kasumi, wanted the other kids to hear one of her stories, and I thought that since I happened to have such an effect on her, I could help her do it. It would also help her gather some confidence without needing to rely solely on herself. Do you agree?"
That was the primary issue, that he had to ask about. Albeit, he doubted she would have too much to say against it. She just seemed like the sort. The more dutiful types usually didn`t come to him afterwards to praise him, mostly to just thank them for coming. However, Mosa did have one more request. "If it isn`t too much trouble, I`d like to eat too. Plan was to eat right after this visit, but with the plan change... you understand." He said this with a dead serious tone and look... It was almost ridiculous.
