Movin' In (Alaster's Song) [Meiko]

The delicious smell of eggs wafted through the air. Alaster could not wait to eat breakfast. His stomach grumbled slightly in agreement. However, Alaster was patient. He would wait however long he needed to until it was ready.

Alaster was delighted to hear that Meiko slept well. She then asked him to go and sit while she prepared the table. "Yes of course, dear. Thank you." When asked what drink he wanted, Alaster thought for a bit on what he wanted before deciding on his answer. "Hmm, I'll have a coffee with just a bit of sugar and cream." Alaster did not really care either way if his coffee was sweet or not, but given the choice, he would prefer coffee that was not too sweet.

Once Alaster sat down on the table, he noticed that there were some text messages that were unread. A quick glance showed that it was just Eyes bitching about Alaster not having answered the call last night and threatening to stop hiring him for jobs. Alaster scoffed and put the phone away. He didn't need them anymore. Unlike the gang from England who felt more like family, this gang was filled with a bunch of incompetent morons and despicable shits. He had no attachment to any of them, and he was getting sick of their idiocy and lack of respect for the hard work he put in. The only reason Alaster even associated with them to begin with was because he needed money. Now that he had several completed jobs under his belt, as well as his books selling better than ever before, Alaster was making more than enough money to support both himself and Meiko without the gang's help.

Just as he put his phone away, Meiko had arrived with breakfast. Alaster smiled. Unlike the idiot gang, Meiko was actually important to Alaster and she actually made him happy. Alaster thanked Meiko for breakfast, and he decided to wait for her to start eating before digging in himself. As expected, the food was delicious and Alaster loved it. He could get used to eating food like this every day. It sure as hell beat anything else he had eaten back in England.

Alaster sipped his coffee. Not too sweet, but that was just how he liked it. It reminded him of the day he met Meiko back in that cafe almost five months ago. Has it really been such a short amount of time? So much has happened since that fateful day. It felt like he knew Meiko forever. Alaster smiled. He hoped that the two would continue to make more wonderful memories.

Alaster smiled at Meiko. "Thank you again, love. The food tastes amazing!" It was a shame that Alaster knew nothing of cooking. Otherwise, he would love to make a meal for Meiko. He doubted that his cooking would hold a candle to hers if he was any good at it.

When his food was almost completely gone, Alaster decided to chat with Meiko. He wanted to hear about what she's been up to recently, if she felt like talking about it. "So how are things, love? Anything good happened recently?"

Unlike Alaster, it seemed that Meiko has not been up to much ever since Semper Fi. She just wanted to stay home after what she's been through. Alaster could understand that. He himself had his fair share of bullshit he had to deal with at that place. When he was finally done with the place, all he wanted to do was relax.

However, Alaster just could not relax. There were too many things that needed to be done. He had books to write and sell, jobs from the gang that needed to be done despite the ever growing rift, the preparations of moving to the new place. In truth, Alaster was exhausted, both physically and mentally. All he wanted to do was stay at home all day, doing nothing but relaxing and spending time with his beloved.

"I tried to just take a break and rest for a bit after Semper Fi. But you know, I'm always busy with writing, meetings, gang work, all that dull stuff. I'll spare you the boring details. Still..." Alaster smiled. "Despite my general exhaustion, this has all been worth it. Everything I've had to put up with has led to this moment. Us living here together. I'd gladly put myself through hell again just to make you happy and be with you, my love. Anything to keep that smile on your beautiful face."

As soon as he was finished with his coffee and food, Alaster picked up his empty plate and cup, and took them to the kitchen sink to clean them. Now that breakfast was over and done with, Alaster wondered what he should do now. Looking out the window, he saw that it was raining pretty heavily at the moment. So much for swimming in the backyard pool with Meiko. Oh well, they could do that some other time.

Alaster supposed that the boxes would not unpack themselves, and that now was as good a time as any to finally get it done. Grabbing a knife from the kitchen, Alaster walked to the nearest box, and proceeded to stab and tear away the tape. Opening the the now unsealed box, Alaster began to take the contents inside and place them where they belonged. It was going to take a while to open up every box and put everything away, but getting it out of the way now was a smart idea. The sooner that the unpacking was done, the sooner Alaster could relax with Meiko.

It took a while, but it was finally done. Everything was now unpacked and put in their proper place. The empty boxes and ripped tape were all thrown out. The couple were done with their work. The rest of the day were theirs to do with as they saw fit.

Alaster had an idea. Making his way to the music player, he grabbed one of the vinyls and played some old music. He then grabbed Meiko's hand. "Fancy a dance, milady?" Alaster may not actually have a clue on how to dance, but that wasn't going to stop him from having some well deserved fun with Meiko.

NOTES Moving sucks, and unpacking things sucks too. It's a massive relief when you finally finish both. Time to relax!

There were some things Alaster was talented at, things that he could do well. He could write well, he could play the organ well, his aim with a gun was pretty good, and his methods of torturing his victims were pretty decent as well. However, there were many things he simply wasn't good at. Having the patience to deal with anyone besides Meiko, tolerating the sunlight, and singing were just a few of the many things Alaster was simply dreadful at.

It just so happened that dancing was one of those things that Alaster just sucked at. Despite being excited when Meiko agreed to dance with him, Alaster was soon trying his very hardest not to step on her feet... with very limited success.

"I'm so sorry, love!" Alaster had accidentally stepped on Meiko's foot as the two danced together. Fortunately for her, Alaster was not wearing his shoes, so at least it did not hurt her too much. Still, Alaster felt horrible hurting his girlfriend in any way, including his horrible dancing. "Perhaps I need to consider dancing lessons just for you." If not for his skill with the organ, Alaster would have probably quit doing anything music related altogether.

Alaster's dancing may have been horrendous, but Meiko was very good. Were Alaster not so preoccupied with not stepping on his beloved's feet again, he would have just been very impressed with how good her dancing was.

After the third time he accidentally stepped on Meiko's foot, Alaster just stopped dancing and stepped back a bit. "I'm sorry. Maybe we should just do something else. I don't mind or care if I hurt anyone else, but I can never be okay with hurting you. Please forgive me, love." Alaster stopped the current song. "You can pick a song we can listen to together. Or we can do something else. Anything that doesn't involve hurting your feet, or any part of you for that matter."

Alaster sighed. He already had enough screw-ups in his life. He did not need to mess up the time spent with his girlfriend as well.

Oh no. Something was very wrong. It was only after his horrendous dancing that Alaster noticed it. Meiko was very upset, but why? She suddenly became teary-eyed and started to apologize. Did she do something? Something that she thought Alaster could never forgive? However, Meiko did not say it. She was just too upset to speak properly.

Despite wanting to know what happened, Alaster was far more concerned about that fact that his girlfriend was crying. Did something happen to her? Did someone do something to his beloved angel? Was he going to have to make someone bleed for making the idiotic decision to hurt his beloved Meiko in any way?

Alaster immediately ran over to Meiko and hugged her tightly. He then placed a hand on her cheek and used a finger to wipe away the tears. He wanted to make sure that she was okay. Alaster began to speak in a soothing and reassuring manner.

"Meiko, it's alright. No more tears, please. Whatever it is that's upsetting you, whatever it is you did, don't worry about it. Of course I forgive you. I always will. I can never be mad at you. It's okay, my love."

Holding Meiko tightly, Alaster let Meiko finish crying, being sure to comfort her in any way he could. The thought of seeing his love sad and upset like this was just saddening. She deserved to be happy, to smile and not have to worry about anything. It was the rest of the world that deserved to be miserable, not his precious girlfriend.

After some time passed, Alaster looked over to Meiko and smiled as he spoke. "Do you want to talk about it? It's okay if you don't want to right now. I'll be here to listen whenever you're ready to talk."

Alaster did not know what to expect to hear from Meiko. What had happened? And why did it upset her this much? But then she spoke and answered both of those questions.

...Oh. Well then. It was all clear now.

Silence. Alaster just stood there in silence as he listened to Meiko speak. His face was expressionless as he listened to her admit to what she did. Alaster didn't know what to say or what to think. So many thoughts and emotions were going around in his head. Having never been in a relationship before this, he did not know what to think, what to do, what to say.

How? How could she? How could this have happened? Why did it happen? Was it his fault? Did he fuck up again? He had left her alone for weeks before. But then on that date of theirs, he promised her that he wouldn't do that anymore. That he wouldn't let work keep him too busy to see his girlfriend. But he failed. In his desire to be with her, he instead botched it up by being busy all the time again. Is this why she did that? Because he left her alone again?

However, despite hearing what Meiko had done, Alaster did not blame her. She admitted that she was drunk. It was not like she willingly decided to cheat on him with another person. In any case, she wasn't the only person who did stupid crap whilst under the influence. Alaster himself was guilty of doing similarly stupid shit whilst drinking that led to him doing regrettable and embarrassing things. No, Alaster would sooner blame himself for what happened than Meiko.

"Meiko, honey. I just want to say this. Thank you. Thank you for being honest with me. It means a lot to me that you decided to come clean with this. Please don't blame yourself for what happened. People do stupid shit when they're drunk. I know all too well from firsthand experience." Alaster chuckled nervously, thinking back to that night at the bar.

"Anyway, it doesn't matter that you were with someone else. I just want you to be happy. That's all I ever wanted for you. You are literally the best thing that's ever happened to me. Before I met you, I was lost, confused, and without a purpose. My life had no meaning. I only knew pain, loneliness, and misery. But then you came into my life. You gave me purpose, happiness, and love. You saved me, and for that, I'll love you for all eternity. As I already told you, I could never be mad at you. But if you need to hear it again for piece of mind, then I forgive you. I always will."

Grabbing Meiko, Alaster held her close in an embrace. "I love you, Meiko, and nothing will ever change that."

NOTES Always forgive, but never forget.

It seemed that Meiko was still upset, but just a bit less so. Still, she was far from okay. It was obvious that she felt horrible for what she did. After apologizing again, she even suggested that she deserved punishment. No matter how much Meiko had hurt him, he could never punish her. Alaster loved Meiko too much to ever want to hurt or punish her in any way besides playing around in bed. But that was a different matter entirely.

Alaster did not know what to say. What words would help put the smile back on her face? He then realized that sometimes, actions held more power than words. Looking Meiko in the eyes, Alaster smiled warmly at her. He then moved in close and kissed her with all the love and passion he could muster. He hoped that he could relay his feelings to Meiko this way, showing her that despite what happened, he would always love her and be with her. That nothing would ever be enough to diminish his love for her.

After what seemed like an eternity, Alaster finally pulled his lips away from Meiko's. He then smiled as he spoke to Meiko. "You don't ever have to apologize, my love. You don't ever have to worry about being punished or ever being deserving of any punishment. And most importantly, you don't ever have to change. I love you just the way you are, Meiko. Nothing will ever change that, and nothing can ever make me stop loving you."

Just as Alaster moved in to kiss Meiko again, his phone began to vibrate. Annoyed, Alaster chucked the phone, sending it flying to the couch. Alaster did not know who that call was from or what it was about, and he did not care. Right now, the only thing that mattered at all to him was making his girlfriend feel better. "Bloody idiots won't leave me alone. I'm in the middle of something far more important right now." Then, with no interruptions this time, Alaster once again kissed Meiko.

Still hugging her, Alaster looked out the window and saw that the rain had stopped. Outside, a beautiful rainbow could be seen. Alaster then walked Meiko to the window so that she could see it as well. "Look, my love! The rain has stopped, and a rainbow shines beautifully. Not as beautiful as you, of course. The rainbow does reminds me of you, and not just in its beauty. I was sad and gloomy, but you took that misery away, you made the rain go away, and you showed me just how beautiful life could truly be. I want to do the same for you. I want to get rid of anything that bothers you and brighten your life the way you've brightened mine." Alaster hoped that his words were getting through to Meiko. He just wanted to cheer her up in any way he could.

"Now that it stopped raining, we can go out and do something together if you would like. Or if you prefer, we can just stay inside and do anything you want. Whatever makes you happy, my love." Alaster hoped that his words and actions were enough to make Meiko feel better.

The lady had spoken, and her words were very sweet. The only things that were sweeter were the hug and kiss that followed. "Those lovely words you spoke. I could say the exact same thing to you, my love." As he kissed Meiko back, there was one thing Alaster was certain of at that moment. One day, he would marry this woman. Perhaps not right now, as it may be a bit too soon for that, but definitely some day. Meiko meant more to Alaster than anything else in this world. He loved her. More than writing, more than the fans of his books, more than torturing shitty people who deserved it, more than watching blood spill, more than anything. Her heart was his and his heart hers.

Pulling away from their kiss, Alaster grabbed Meiko and gently carried her bridal style to the bedroom. Laying her down on top of the large bed, Alaster lied down next to her. He then smiled as he cuddled with her and held her hands in his own. "Being here with you, just relaxing like this. This is paradise. I hope that every day can be like this. Just letting go of the troubles of the world and focusing all my attention on you. Nothing would give me greater pleasure."

In the past, Alaster would have given anything not to have had the childhood that he had to suffer through. But now, Alaster was glad things happened the way they did. Sure, he was beaten by his father and stepmother throughout his childhood. Yeah, he was bullied a lot at school and had no friends. Yes, he was sent to a juvenile detention facility for years. And of course, he had to resort to joining a gang and committing crimes just to be able to get money and survive. But in all honesty, knowing what he knew now, Alaster would gladly go through all that again.

Because if none of that horrible stuff happened, then he might never have met Meiko. And a world without her was not a world Alaster wanted to imagine or be a part of. Meiko was his world, and he refused to give her up for anything.
