The weekend, who wouldn't love to sleep in on the weekend? Typically, majority of people would choose to sleep longer than to get up early. Nari, being one of those people, intended to spend her Saturday like any other, sleeping in until late and rolling out of bed to procrastinate on her computer. Sadly, not everything you have in mind goes as planned. Nari felt the familiar vibrations of her phone under her pillow, rousing her from her sleep and making her groan. She sluggishly reached her hand under the pillow and grabbed her phone. Only eight in the morning? She still had at least four more hours she could have slept! With a grumble, Nari sat up, her messy brunette locks cascading around her face as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, trying to read the bright message on her phone.
Nari blinked her eyes a few times, trying to get used to the light around her, reading the message a few times over. It was surprising to hear from the horse headed boy she had saved a while back. She didn't remember giving him her number...but she probably did and just forgot. Her eyes widened slightly once she read the message again, something about their home getting destroyed when they arrived home. Nari dropped her phone on her bed, her wide eyes having turned to slits as she stared down at her blanket. Burned down? Her sanctuary was...burned down? The recent news seemed to boil her blood, she wouldn't take something like this lightly. You could do anything you wanted to her, but mess with her treasures and there would be hell to pay. Nari rolled out of bed, looking at herself briefly in the mirror for a moment. She looked down to the floor and blinked...so that's where she kicked her pants off to in the middle of the night. Nari left her room and went down the hall, forcing the guest door open and turning to the sleeping person in bed.
It had been a bit of time since she agreed on Nick crashing at her house....even a little bit since...that had happened. Nari was much too focused on the news she heard to worry about something silly like that. Nari went over to the bed and crawled on top, shaking the sleeping body awake beneath her. "Oi, it's time to wake up. We have business we need to take care of," she said, shaking him awake in a but of a hurry. "We need to go."

Nick rarely slept peacefully anymore. In fact were it not for his recent trip to a certain cafe and its owner’s Quirk, he might have forgotten what a ‘peaceful rest’ even was.
Sadly, he was not currently at the cafe or under the influence of Nemuri’s sand. He was already somewhat awake, owing to his restlessness and his dreams plagued by the sound of screams and an encroaching darkness he could never escape. He lay in the purgatory between ‘asleep’ and ‘awake’, eyes fixed to the wall and his mind hazy.
Then suddenly the door to his room flew open and something was shaking him. If he had been more awake he would likely have sprang straight into the offensive and donned his armour to strike whatever it was that was shaking him, but in his unfocused state all he did was try to shove the whatever-it-was away.
“...What?” He rubbed his bleary eyes. It took a moment or two, but his vision stopped wavering and focused on Nari’s small form. On top of him. He tilted his head to the side. “Do you want to have another go at it or something?”
It had been a little while since their mishap, but if she wanted to go again he was certainly not one to complain, even if it was a bit out of nowhere. It would at least make a nice distraction from his current feelings, as their first incident had. He reached up to grab her - but his hands did not make it before she said something about business to take care of and that they had to go. His arms dropped abruptly. His expression was now a confused, annoyed frown.
“What business?” he demanded. Even so, he sloped out of bed and swapped his pyjamas for his usual disguise’s plain clothes (he did not care about changing in front of her, considering what they had previously done). He reached for one of his wigs - the blonde one - and pulled it on. “This better be good.”

Were those kind of thoughts the only thing boys think of? With a soft sigh Nari spoke up, "Not right now, but maybe later if you're good. We have important business we have to attend to. It's the mutant group. Someone burned their house down," the green eyed girl said, slowly crawling off Nick. "Get up and get dressed, we have no time to loose," Nari said, looking at Nick with a serious expression before retreating back to her room to change. Nari dashed back to her room and quickly changed into her usual attire, a cream blouse and deep brown skirt along with her white socks and black mary-janes. She looked out the window and mentally cursed herself. Why couldn't this have happened at night?
Nari grabbed her phone and made sure to strap her precious knives to her outer thighs, hidden from plain sight, before heading back into the guest room. "We have to find out who did it. I'm sure this means something for you too, considering you were the one that helped them as well," Nari said to Nick. Her lazy Saturday would have to wait, this came first. "We have to go meet with them. They're probably scared and confused. We....I need to get to the bottom of this. Whoever messes with things that are important to be will have hell to pay," Nari said biting her lip, tasting a bit of iron against her tongue. First her father...now her haven...what else was she going to loose before things got ugly?

Nick paused at her words about the mutant group with his trousers halfway up his legs.
Of course. He was not surprised; in fact he should have seen it coming and felt stupid that he had not. Was the entire reason the mutants had been driven to live in the sewers not the prejudice they had faced on the surface? Naturally once some Quirkless bastard had gotten wind of a group of mutants living in Nari’s old house they had seen fit to drive them out. He and Nari should have been more prepared for this outcome.
It made his blood boil. His hands trembled from rage as he pulled the rest of his clothes on. The Quirkless still thought the world belonged to them. They still believed the Quirked were lesser beings they could treat how they wanted when in truth it was the other way around.
As Nari returned, Nick’s back was as straight as a poker, his eyes colder than Arctic ice and his glare full of paralysing hatred for the world and the weaklings that inhabited it. All thoughts of another mishap had, for the time being, left his mind.
“I hear you,” he said. “Let’s find the Quirkless piece of shit that did this and make them pay.”

With no time to waste, Nari left the house with Nick, turning back for a moment before heading out. Curse the sun for being out, why couldn't it be cloudy today? The sun and her had a complicated relationship, never once getting along with one another. She hoped this fight wouldn't take long, she didn't want to stay out in the sunlight for more than needed. She wanted to find the scumbag that would do such a thing to her haven. Was it funny to just burn down people's homes? Was it alright to do countless things without first thinking about your actions? Who were they to tear apart something that was once happy for some? "We will get to the bottom of this....so help me..."
Following a few back roads, Nari stopped and stood in silence as fire crews were putting out the fire that she once called home, standing just feet away from her and Nick. The amber flames seemed to glow in the reflection of her eyes, the years of memories, the times of struggle and strife, the things she cherished most...now burnt to ash. She wanted to move, she wanted to go over and comfort the mutants who were talking to one of the fire marshals. She wanted to go into the burning building and see if she could retrieve some of the things she lost. She wanted to salvage the things that were now burnt beyond repair, but her body would not move. It was frozen, like that of a statue. Instead of going forward like she wanted, she sunk down to the ground on her knees, watching the smoke and flames breaking apart what she had treasured for so long. She made no sound, she made no further attempt to move. Her hair-tie snapped, letting her long brunette locks down, flowing in the wind caused by the fire, bits of ash flowing towards her. All she could do was stare and watch priceless moments crumbling before her. Her green eyes shown no emotion, welled up with tears as her eyes refused to blink, letting them well up before dripping down her pale green cheeks. She was not one to show such weakness, but she couldn't stop the tears from flowing. Not when it came to something so important as this. There was nothing left. All she loved was now gone.

Nick had expected to find the house in a state of chaos, though even so it was quite a sorry sight.
For a brief second his heart seized upon spotting police cars nearby, but then he remembered he was in disguise and forced himself to take calming breaths.
Nari’s reaction, on the other hand, was something else entirely. He had been staying with Nari for some time now, but never in his life had he expected he would ever see her cry.
He supposed it made sense that she would react so strongly, given that this house had been hers and what had happened to her father. He had no idea what to do about her reaction, however. He was left standing there for a good moment or two, staring gormlessly. Finally, he found it within himself to move again, but all he did was dip his head and murmur;
“I’m sorry.”
His words felt hollow and empty. ‘Sorry’ was hardly going to bring back her old house, was it? No. The real way to make this right was to find the bastard who did it and string them up. It was the only way.
He stepped closer to Nari. After a brief hesitation, he attempted to rest a hand on her shoulder with a surprising level of gentleness for someone such as him. “We’ll find whoever did this and make an example of them.”
He recognised a familiar face amongst the gaggle of mutant Quirkers gathered by the firemen: a young teen with the head and legs of a horse. “There’s Ikki. He won’t recognise me like this, and I’d rather not explain to him who I actually am in front of the authorities, so perhaps you could ask him who did this?”

Was this really happening? Please let this all be just a bad dream. A dream she'd wake up from any minute. Yes, that's all this was, a bad dream. Right? A gentle hand resting against her shoulder brought her out of her head, causing her to softly gasp in response. The green eyes girl blinked, letting the well of tears drip from her face. She slowly turned around to see Nick, an agitated yet remorseful look on his face. She knew he had no part in this, yet he still wanted to try and comfort her, saying they'd find the person who did this. They would make them pay. Nari, with semi-shaky hands, took the handkerchief out of her pocket and dried her eyes and nose, not wanting to appear like a mess in front of the mutant group and the authorities around them. She had to figure out more about what happened. Nari stood up from the ground, brushing her legs off and taking a moment to gather herself before going over to the mutant group to get more answers.
The brunette went over to the mutant group, spotting the horse headed boy almost instantly, seeing him just as upset as she was. Once they locked eyes, Nari watched as the horse boy made his way over to Nari, hugging her even as he cried. She heard him begin apologizing as he cried, why she didn't know. It was not his fault that his new home was destroyed. She used her nimble fingers to stroke his hair, looking down at him with a frown. The last time she met, she used her handy dandy note writing to communicate. Perhaps it was better that way, she didn't think she could speak without her voice cracking. With her free hand, she reached into her pocket and grabbed her notepad and pencil, opening it and writing a quick message before showing Ikki: "Please tell me all that you know about what happened."
The horse headed boy pulled away for a moment, seeing Nari's note and trying to gather his thoughts to help explain to her. He explained that he and the fellow mutants were away from their home, doing their respected tasks. They have been doing good since the last time they saw one another. They all managed to find some form of work, making a stable living for themselves, even trying to refurbish the house a little, make it nicer and in hopes invite her back to see it once they were done. One of their comrades, the pole-man, had arrived home early and saw that someone had ran out of the house, chucking something behind him that cause the house to burst into flames. He didn't get a good look at who the perpetrator was, he wanted to inform the rest of the group of what happened. Nari didn't know if they would be able to find the crook who did this. Without more detail about the situation, it would be hard trying to find whoever did this.

Nick may have committed many a questionable, morally dubious action in his time, especially recently, but despite it all he was still a human deep down, and he actually, genuinely felt bad for Nari. She had lied to him initially about her ability to speak, true, but she had come clean eventually and opened her home to his desperate arse when nothing had required her to. (She had also opened certain other things to him, though that was not quite as important in that moment in time).
Yet he had little idea what he could say or do to comfort her, even though he found himself wanting to. Beyond finding and killing whoever did this, of course. That seemed as though it was the only thing they could do.
Instead of saying anything he stood silently behind Nari and listened to Ikki the horse-boy explain to her everything that had happened from his perspective. So, it was the pole-shaped mutant who had seen the perpetrator? Nick scanned the area for the pole-man and picked him out quite easily, given how odd he looked even for a mutant Quirker. He was stood talking to a mutant who’s entire body was covered in eyes.
The pole-man noticed Nick approaching and looked surprised for a second before his eyes dangerously narrowed.
“What the hell are you doing here, pretty-boy?” he demanded gruffly.
Nick chose to ignore his hostility. “I heard Ikki say you saw who did this. Did you see what direction they went in?”
The pole-man shrugged and gestured to an alley to the right of them. “They looked like they headed off that way, but good luck finding ‘em now.”
Nick pondered things for a moment: he was quite sure an area full of warehouses lay in that direction. He wandered back over to Nari. “The pole man says they went that way, which leads to some old warehouses I believe. They might have gone there to hide ‘til the authorities leave. That’d be my guess.”
It was not a whole lot to go on, but what else did they have?

Seeing Ikki cry made Nari want to cry as well, but she knew she couldn't. Perhaps if she were back home in the safety of her house she could let the tears fall, but she had to be strong not only for herself, but for the mutant group who relied on her. Nari had closed her eyes momentarily, letting Ikki cry into her chest for as long as he needed, knowing he was the most emotional right now. After a few minutes of comfort, Nari heard Nick speak up, prompting her to open her eyes and look up at him as he spoke. So the perpetrator headed off towards the alleys huh? It may be hard to try and catch them now, considering all the law enforcement around, they might not want to come out and play. Nari wrote down a quick note before showing it to Nick, wanting to get his opinion on the matter. "It'll be too hard to catch them right now. If they're into arson, who's to say they won't commit another crime. It may be predictable but what do you think about a stakeout?" Her note read.
What other chance did they have? They didn't know what the crook looked like so finding out who did it might be hard. No one criminal commits a crime once. If they're lucky, they might see the crook perform the same act again. But what sort of building would they go for? Sure this was once an abandoned building before, but would they try and go for another abandoned building or one inhabited by people? Nari pulled her notepad back and wrote something else before showing Nick. "It may be our only chance if we want to catch whoever did this. They won't strike until later, which gives me a thought he could strike again tonight. The question is where he is going to strike," Nari's second message read. They could hope that their plan was good and it would work. They wouldn't know for sure unless they tried. She needed revenge but most importantly, she needed closure.

Nick continued to stand there like a complete idiot, which was certainly how he felt. He looked away when Nari let the tearful Ikki hug her.
“Nari, I…” His mouth closed.
Stop it. She has to be strong in her response to this. If she’s not strong, she’s not worth your time. The same goes for the other mutants here. All of them should be ready to fight back.
Finally Nari spoke to him again, giving him her own ideas for how to catch the perpetrator. His mind went back to the bomb diffusion exercise he had partaken in at Yuuei. What an absolute disaster that had been; the brainless slattern he had been paired with had refused to listen to any of his suggestions and because of her complete inability to cooperate with him they had failed. The failure somehow still managed to sting him even all these months later when so much else had happened.
Nari was different, though, he reminded himself. Nari was not being a condescending bitch about her plans. He also liked Nari considerably more than that whore, which helped a great deal.
“Alright,” he said. “We’ll go with that. How do you want to do this, though?” He eyed the mutant group. “And I expect you lot to help us here.”

Nari missed the few words that left the raven haired boy's mouth, while probably not important, she had to think of how to approach setting up the sting to catch the person who did this. How would they set up a sting when they had no idea when the perpetrator would strike again. Nari flipped her notepad to a new page and stared at it for a few moments, trying to come up with the words to say...or write in this case. How would they go about this? Think Nari think! Her eyes widened only slightly, her eyes quickly turning to slits before reverting back before writing her message on the blank page, showing Nick once she was finished writing: "I'm not positive on this, but aren't there other abandoned buildings around this area? It's not that I don't want to, but what if we used the mutant group as bait. Have them 'live' in the house to see if the person strikes again? We don't know if they attacked because of this once being an abandoned building or if it was because there were mutants inhabiting it. We don't have much other evidence to go off of. This may be our only chance in hopes of catching them." Nari's note read.
She was risking the lives of the mutant group who she and Nick had saved...but for this to work, they needed help. If they acted as a decoy, it might rouse the enemy to strike again. Although, the plan might go awry if Ikki's group inhabited the house. The other might catch on as this being a trick. Nari frowned and looked down to her notepad before writing another note, showing Nick once she was done: "I have doubts of using Ikki and the group here on the surface, however. The enemy might catch on that this is a trick and not show up. I don't know if it would be possible, but if we could recruit some of the mutants who stayed in the sewer to take part as decoys, the plan might work a little better. Yes it would be putting their lives at risk, but what choice do we have?" The green eyed girl's note red. Nari wrote another note but this time showed it to Ikki. "We may need the help of the other mutants living in the sewers," her note read.

“Alright.”
Nick shrugged his shoulders. If Nari thought it would work, then he supposed they might as well see if it would. He enjoyed her company enough to allow this.
He cringed hard and visibly at the thought of going back to the sewers, however, for reasons he thought should be quite obvious. He was fortunate to have avoided catching some horrible disease the previous instance. The smell, the filth, the damp, and did he mention the smell? The mere thought of the place made his stomach turn.
“Ugh. You know, given you’re also a mutation-type they’d probably be more likely to listen to you. If you explain to them that we’re trying to catch someone who hurt their friends then they will be willing to comply with your plan, I imagine.”
He considered asking Nari to go down and talk to the mutants by herself, but he supposed that would be cowardly. With a heavy, tired sigh, he sloped off in the direction of the manhole that had brought them to the mutant group the first time.
When he reached it, he hesitated before moving it aside.
What the hell even is my life?
Trying not to groan, he began to climb down once more into the foul-smelling darkness.

Ikki led Nari and Nick to the manhole which served as the entrance way to their once underground haven. Nari didn't want to go back down there, but she knew she had to...she couldn't do this alone. She watched as Nick moved the manhole out of the way and descended down into the sewers first before she followed. He better keep his eyes down and watching the railing lest she give him a stern talking to later...along with perhaps something else. Soon enough, the duo and Ikki reached the bottom of the ladder, Ikki leading the way once more to where the rest of the mutants had been staying. There were still quite a few of them down here from what Nari could remember...did the number decline or grow since last she was here she wondered.
As the trio arrived in the unclean mutant haven, the green eyed girl looked around, wondering if they were still in fear of hiding or if their numbers down here really declined. Nari knew it would be hard to communicate with notes given the group of people she hoped to convince, might as well let the cat out of the bag. "...If you can hear me, I need your help my fellow mutants. I was here once before, helping your brotheren make a life for themselves on the surface after rescuing one of your own from an attack against non-quirkers. I gifted them a place very special to me but found out today that the place they had resided...the haven they were gifted, was burned down to the ground. An attack was made on our kind and I need your help to catch whoever did this. To attack someone is one thing, but to seek out and attack a certain group of people is a grave offense. They could have hurt those whom you call friends...luckily they made it out unscathed. I want to...no, I need to get revenge on the person that did this. I cannot let this issue go knowing there is one more person out there threatening mutant kind. I beg of you, if you want the violence, the humiliation, the discrimination to end, please help me during the critical time," she said hoping her message was heard by at least one person here in the underground haven. She would be devastated if her efforts were for nothing...she couldn't let that happen.

Nick had barely clambered down an inch when the smell made him want to gag. The only remotely good thing to come out of the entire awful mess of a situation was the fact Nari climbed down after him, so at least the view was nice. (‘Shameless’ did not really begin to cover it, especially for someone like Nick who had never been taught what boundaries were).
Christ, I can’t even see what I’m stepping in down here. This better be worth it or I swear to God...
What greeted them in the rancid depths was a rag-tag gaggle of freaks all huddled together around a burning rubbish pile. A woman covered in thick grey hair like a Yeti, a man with a neck as long as a giraffe’s, another man whose hands were crab claws and a purple-skinned, horned girl no older than seven were the ones he could make out best in the dim light, but many more lurked in the shadows.
These were the ones who had been too reluctant to go to the surface when Nari had offered them hospitality before. Nick wondered if there was any point in reaching out to them, since they had clearly shown their cowardice the first time. Still, he hung back and allowed Nari to speak.
Well, ‘speak’. It would be nothing short of a miracle if any of them were able to read her note in the darkness. A few of them crept closer, though, including all of the mutants he had identified initially.
“You’re good at this,” Nick observed to Nari.
“Ikki, is this true?” the long-necked man asked their horse friend.
“I wouldn’t come back for nothing,” Ikki said. “Please, you have to trust these two. We would really appreciate your help!”
The long-necked man looked back at the other mutants. The mutants murmured amongst themselves for what felt like forever, until finally the long-necked man looked at Nari and nodded.
“Alright,” he said. “Let’s go to the surface, and then you can tell us what exactly it is you want to do.”
Thank God, Nick thought as he turned and made his way back for the ladder to the surface. I couldn’t stand being down here any longer…

Nari stood, facing the dim light of the sanctuary, her heart beating in her ears the only audible sound other than the low crackle of the fire. She felt short of breath, her body numb, this was the first time Nari truly felt fear. Would her kind reject her or would they aid in her mission? Nari didn't know, she wanted this feeling to go away. It truly was disgusting. She couldn't hear Nick's words, if any were spoken. Her focus was now turned to one of the mutant bunch, a man with an incredibly long neck, slowly approached her. She could probably win if a fight were to ensue but her limbs stayed frozen in place, his soft yet stern expression piercing into Nari's own soul. Seconds passed seemed like hours before a confirmation of help was uttered. Nari let out a breath she didn't know she held, looking up at the long necked man, nodding to him before turning to leave the underground haven. "...If I said this was going to be easy, I'd be lying," she said softly before walking through the tunnel and up the ladder to the surface. Nari looked around before deciding the coast was clear, leading the small mutant group through back roads until the reached the street her treasure once resided on. Thankfully, there was another condemned building not to far from her treasure. It would serve as the perfect set up spot for their sting, a decoy of sorts.
Once the reached the building in question, Nari picked the lock with a spare bobby pin from her hair, unlocking the door and letting the group inside before shutting the door. Though the building was declared 'uninhabitable', it was much nicer than the sewers the group must have been living in. Not as nice as her haven, but better nonetheless. The green eyed girl had been here a few times, visiting and cleaning up the place as best she could. Why couldn't she have it if no one else wanted it? It was free game! The house actually looked livable from an outsider's view. Nari sat on one of the plastic covered chairs before turning to the group. "For this plan to work, I...we need you all to act as normally as possible, as if this was your actual home. I doubt an attack would occur in broad daylight, my guess is early evening or late at night is when they might strike. I suspect another arson attack. That is why we need to plan an escape route if that should be the case. They might not strike until they feel those in the house are asleep, as to not have a watchful eye over them. Ni...my partner and I will be keeping a lookout from the apartment building across the street. Once we see activity, we will strike and make sure you are all alright before taking further measures. Does anyone have any questions?" The brunette asked, she had never set up a sting before, only heard about the ones her father had done. She hoped this would work.
