The sky was black, but the city was alight; it was never dark, unless you specifically tried to get away from it. Still, it was quieter in the city at night, even if it never fully slept. When the sun went down though, that little tiem between people going to bed and third shift... that ws a strange, magical hour, a zombie hour.
Silencing a groan before it could even come up her throat, Luzia pushed her way into a conviencestore, rubbing her eye as they still struggled to stay open. She blinked a few times, ignoring her headache and forcing herself to look around the relatively bright store. Some lazy J-pop song was on the radio, like always, but it was distorted slightly so it was hard to hear what they were saying, just like ever. Could be an English rock song, even; she wasn't paying attention anyway. A convenience store and a fast food place, there were so many smells; coffee, donuts, fried stuff, even floor cleaner... but in her state, it was a bit too much. All the smells almost hurt, but she dealt with it with a grimace.
Like it always seemed to be, there was just a few people going through; this time, there was a man in a suit standing in front of the coffee machine, staring between the machine and his watch. There was a guy and a girl making out next to the fridges... and then there was the last guy. Luzia stared at him for a moment, watching him stare mesmerized at the swirling Mushie in the machine. He was high as always, but what amazed her was that every time she was here, so was he, doing the same thing and never doing anything else. She finally had to wonder where the hell he got his stuff, and how she could get some too, but she shook those thoughts away for now.
Her surprise faded from her face, and when her amazement faded, and her headache came back so hard it made her flinch, rubbing her head tenderly as her eyes narrowed. She had way too much last night... this was one of the worst hangovers she had *ever* had. She shuffled past the guy watching the swirling ice and grabbed a cup, still rubbing her head as she filled it up with whatever drink her still-sleeping fingers pressed. Before it was even halfway filled, she let go and chugged it down so fast she had to gasp, then did it again before finally filling the cup up, grabbing a lid and a straw before finding herself a table and sitting in it, rubbing her hurting neck. Already the drink was starting to help, so she could at least see straight, but the hangover was still annoying, and on top of that, she slept in a shitting place, so she was hurting in a lot of different ways.
Luzia was dressed in an old tank top and just as old jeans, the latter a size or two too big, held up with a belt someone tossed out. They weren't clean, but at least they weren't holey. She had her backpack, too, set down under the table in front of her so she didn't have to deal with the weight. She leaned back in her chair, trying to stretch her muscles awake, staring at the spinning fan on the ceiling, just trying to get rid of this damn hangover.
This was one of her favorite places; cheap, good food, lots of drinks, and one of the only places in the area that was halfway safe, at least for her. Honestly, this was probably the closest place to a home she could think of... she even managed to sleep in the bathroom a few times, including yesterday.
Everything was so quiet, though. She usually didn't like that, but right now, she wanted nothing else. She rubbed at her neck again, ignoring the ding of the suited man leaving, and stared at the ceiling, sipping her drink, some part of her mind registering the silence breaking for just a moment when the speakers shifted to another song.

Mia rubbed her eyes with the base of her palm, adjusting the old lounger she’d dragged up this building’s fire escape as she looked out over the abandoned housing building that had apparently been host to some illegal dealings lately. This was by far the most boring part of the blonde’s job, sitting here, waiting for something illegal to happen rather than stopping it outright. Of course she knew what she had to do it, but that didn’t make it any less boring. Couldn’t end up rushing in if she wasn’t absolutely sure she was in the right now could she? She’d been up here for a few hours now and the metal framing of the lounger was starting to make her back ache, rolling back her shoulders as she tried to stay vigilante…maybe…just…letting her head…nnngh…dip just…a little…
“Hey blondie.~”
“GAGH!” Luckily not loud enough to be heard across the street, Mia looked back to the male gadget based hero who’d just snuck up on her, picking up her backpack and elbowing his gut for sneaking up on her before getting up from her chair. “Lemme guess, you’re the relief they sent?” “Uh-huh.” Sht gadget hero held a shit eating grin even as he rubbed his stomache, Mia rolling her eyes and ruffling his hair as she walked past. “Just call me if anything goes down, I didn’t sit up here half the night for nothing to happen.” “You not gonna go to bed?” “Nah I’ll be up for a good few hours, bit of a journey home anyway and none of the public transport’s runnin’ just call me the moment ya see anythin’ and I’ll be on my way.”
Hopping down the opposite side of the building, Mia caught her weight on a hanging sign from an alleyway entrance to an old tattoo parlour, swinging off of it and landing pretty safely on the ground, some hefty momentum still behind her, cracking the pavement a little, but not so much that it broke through her resilience. Making sure she still had her backpack she yoinked her hoodie out of it, zipping it up halfway and resting her hands in her pockets as she started walking home.
Before long she was getting out of the shadier parts of town and just about to enter the neighbourhood one away from her own, eyes glancing to the lit up store and thinking about how little she’d had to eat that day, what with a crime in progress robbing her of her lunch. She should probably be healthy but…ah fuck it. She could do with some junk food. As she entered, the small bell on above the door dingled twice, once from her opening the door, and once from her horn knocking against it, a small twinge running through her horn and making her furrow her brow, but she pushed through it, heading straight for one of the snack food aisles and lifting up a few items, looking them over as she decided what she wanted, resting a can of pringles in her hoodie pocket, the store owner clocking her on a reflective surface in the corners of the shop and calling out.
“You have to pay for those ya know.” Mia glared back at him. “Yeah I know.” With a soft sigh as she remembred how the world could be when she wasn’t recognized as a hero, the hoodie and the deep pocketed cargo pants not doing her any favors, she kept the can in her pocket but made sure to remember to empty her pockets entirely when she payed so he didn’t get suspicious.

The dingle of the bell barely even registered in Luzia's mind; her head fucking *hurt*, and she didn't care who walked through the doors, even less than usual. The only reason her eyes even went up was the impulse to keep an eye on her surroundings, and even then, in her current mood, they just darted over to the general shape of the person walking in, and she almost sighed inwardly. Big, tall, strong, generally intimidating... she really didn't want to deal with a robbery right now... robberies involved so much yelling, loud noises... just thinking about that made a twinge of pain go through her head, making her wince and turn just a little more to glare at the blonde, apparently horned girl, hating her for even having the idea of making her night worse... but then the woman turned away and started shopping. She leaned back in her chair, relaxing again as the lady just went along her business, her hate fading and relief filling her at the reassurance that the night was gonna be quiet.
"Psst."
Luzia arched an eyebrow out of annoyance, turning when she was whispered to, but she smiled when she saw who it was. She gently put her hair behind her ear, smiling softly when she saw Kan-kun, one of the few people in this stupid world that was nice, holding a mop. She blushed gently when she saw those warm red eyes, soft and gentle, but with just enough of an orange tint to make them fiery, too. He motioned over to the bentos with a proud smirk, saying, "Fresh, put 'em on myself." He turned away, whistling innocently as he set down a wet floor sign and pushed his bucket along. She smiled warmly as he moved away, appreciating that he was one of the few people in the world willing to actually help her... she nodded at him, silently thanking him even if he wasn't looking at her now.
She slide off her chair, stretching a bit, helping her muscles to wake up a little bit more before moving, going down an aisle far enough that she had to move past the big horned person, grabbing one of the bentos and a pair of chopsticks before sitting back down, snapping the tray open and digging in without a moments waste. Already her pain was going away and her body was waking up; good drink and good food... this place was probably the nicest and best place for 10 blocks. This place was safe, warm, and people were nice enough to let her take a thing or two. Good place to nurse a hangover, good place for tasty food, and it was relatively safe, too.
Luzia leaned back as she chewed slowly, closing her eyes and just 'staring' up at the ceiling as she savored what was probably gonna be something he had to live on all day.

Mia picked up a few more snacks and a pre-cooked sub sandwhich she could either re-heat at home or eat cold as she walked, and she was all but ready to go home when she caught the guy mopping the floors trying to get the attention of a pink haired girl. Despite the fact she would be holding up a cue at any other time, Mia leaned back against the counter and curiously watched the little scene unfold. Mia was a little trained by now to detect when something was ‘up’, it was part of hero training afterall to catch signs and the like. This didn’t seem nefarious but it was certainly interesting. With her weight resting back into the counter, she felt a prodding at her bicep.
“You can’t stand there.” The tiny eyes of the stores manager narrowed further, clearly tired and angry that the higher ups had him running the late shifts, unlike the gentler soul the pink haired girl was dealing with, this man was old, balding, and generally lacking a sense of power he felt his title demanded. Mia slowly turned and rested on her elbows, glaring down at him, rapidly making him feel far more small in the world than he likely already did.
“When someone is actually buying something. I’ll move. Capiche?” He slowly nodded, and turned away to the hot dog machine, changing out some of the rolling hot dogs and putting them in a small heated cabinet as Mia watched him, carefully turning away and shooting him a final look to dissuade him from muttering any sass behind her back, eyes turning back to the girl who was eating a little bento box. Clearly hadn’t paid for it, but with the look of her, Mia was not in any way going to stop her from enjoying a meal…in fact…
A few more yen were tossed onto the counter, enough to pay for what Mia grabbed off the shelf on her way to the seats, falling back into one of the metal chairs with enough force and weight to make it creak, finally, holding out a small plastic container with a slice of cheesecake inside it. Not a big slice by any means but certainly a little something. Mia offered a warm smile, not expecting it to be taken right out of hand, but offering all the same as she spoke. “You fancy some desert with that meal kid?”

Rice with seaweed, pickled plums, and tempura... every food group, and each as tasty as the last. Bentos were so amazing... so perfect... all anyone needed in one little cheap package... though, for her, 'cheap' was still expensive. Still, that thought didn't deter her enjoyment much, her hangover easing, filling her stomach up with food and lemonade, and a little visit from Kan-kun... such a nice, handsome guy.... She hummed gently, tilting her head as she reminded herself to thank him somehow.
Luzia was so deep in her little box of heaven that she wasn't aware of her surroundings. A very sudden, very near creak of metal startled her. She went wide-eyed, ripped out of her happiness, jerking her head to someone sitting next to her... only to find out it wasn't someone, it was a mountain. She went wide-eyed, her first reaction to seeing this person, presumably, at least forty centimeters taller than her, and so wide with muscles, being fear. This... woman? Was this even a woman? This person had arms that looked like they could lift a car... and juggle it! Luzia instinctively leaned away, her eyes darting around, looking for avenues of escape just in case this horned person didn't like her. What did she even do?!
“You fancy some dessert with that meal kid?”
The pinkette blinked back to the blonde in surprise, then looked down at the little box offered to her. It was a cheesecake... and it was for her? Luzia stared at her in surprise, the shocked pause accentuated by a car with very poor brakes screeching into one of the gas pumps outside. But, after that moment, she slowly reached forward and gently took it, eyeing her carefully. "Thanks...?" Luzia was appreciative of the gesture, and wasn't one to turn down free food, but, not a lot of people just gave stuff away....
What did she want?

Mia was never exactly a tactful one. Offering cheese cake in a box to a stranger she didn’t know just because she seemed a little rough about the edges? Not only was Mia potentially judging a book by it’s cover here but she was seeming to weird out the kid even as she sat down at her table. Heck especially because of that most likely. Pulling one of the tubes of pringles out of her hoodie pocket, Mia popped the cap and started taking them out in handfuls of five, crunching into them with a satisfying sound to her own ears as she indulged in the faintly Moorish taste of the snack.
“Dig in. Never hurts to have a taste of desert before ya finish your meal.” She offered a light smirk as she wiggled to get comfortable in her own seat and gestured to the plastic container. She herself wasn’t ooposed to having a cheeky nip of desert before the full meal, but looking back to the main course, Mia tipped her head off to the side. “Bit late to be having a meal huh? Ain’t ya worried about going to sleep on a full stomache?” She was clearly struggling a little for small talk, as she often could when she didn’t have the curtain of a flirty situation to help her push through.

The music, slightly distorted by the speakers, changed again. This song Luzia recognized; it was a nice one; it was playing everyone, but she liked it anyway. She didn't know the lyrics, but it had a beat that she liked to dance to. She was kind of tempted to dance again, but her head was still hurting, and this place was too public anyway....
Besides, she was still wary around this... oni-looking woman. Luzia's eyes flinched slightly at the loud crunch when she started stuffing her mouth, then moved back to the dessert. Her instincts told her, like always, that no one gave something away for nothing. She warily eyed the blonde again as she suggested taking a bite, and grabbed the case to pull to her. Even if she did want something, she wasn't gonna just throw away free food. With new energy, Luzia dug into both her food and her new dessert. In a way, she was trying to eat everything before the blonde had the idea to take her 'good will' back.
She almost choked in surprise when the blonde suddenly talked to her again, but only almost, coughing slightly and swallowing the bite that nearly got caught. Luzia eyed her suspiciously for a moment, but shook her head. "I just woke up," she replied, gingerly rubbing her temple a bit. It was feeling better, but there was still a bit of hangover left. "I sleep during the day." She didn't really bother with an explanation, instead continuing, "I guess you don't, like a lot of people."

Munching down on her pringles more and more, Mia’s ears perked up to the change in music, not recognizing it herself but she was kinda new to Japanese music in general so she didn’t expect to. Briefly she felt the beat was familiar but the words weren’t recognizeable, even translated. Was this maybe one of those Japanese knock offs she’d heard about? Probably not, but it was amusing to think about all the same. She scoffed a little as she pictured some bored Japanese music artist just listening to English and American radio and replacing the words as he sees fit.
Glancing back to the girl, hearing she’d just woken up, Mia just gave a light nod and stuffed another potato chip in her mouth, speaking through it for the first few words before pausing to swallow. “Ah I was just thinking about heading home myself for a nap but odds are I’m gonna pull an all nightery and make sure there’s someone to cover my ‘shift’ tomorrow.” Another chip, though she swallowed this time before speaking again. “Though for me it depends on the day of the week if I’m a night owl or a day…pigeon? I dunno. Whatever bird comes out in the day.” She shrugged and continued. “I just got off a late shift watching some warehouse-“ She spoke, not telling a single lie but still not alluding to her hero nature should some homeless looking girl not be a fan of them. “So I’m still pretty awake, especially now that I’m eatin’ something.”
She tipped her head up. “How about you? What makes you a night owl?”
