A backdoor call was made through both proper and improper channels to hire ten people with powers to protect Ambassador Yang Fang at the Chinese Embassy during a large party. The five foot tall male with a hairline that had just started its tactical forward movement to the rear stood in tux with a few note cards sticking out of his jacket pocket. A red hankerchief wiping of sweat as he attempted to cool down and look composed. "Now the reason I have asked for as much assistance as this and paid fully up front is simple. There has been a threat on my life. I received a cassette tape with a strange voice that said if I make the announcement tonight, I will not see the dawn. This is a big thing, a school of Heros, just like U.A. based in Beijing. So it is up to all of you to make sure nothing goes wrong tonight. Be on the look out for anyone that looks shady."
Fang paced back and forth in front of the Chinese Flags trying to control his breathing. "For this to be a success though, no one should know that you are here as bodyguards. The wine glasses with white cores in the stems are non-alcoholic. Do mingle about and try to look like you are having a good time. If the public thinks there might be a threat, we won't be able to have this school open." He cleared his throat standing a bit taller. He then gave a silent wave for the Quirkers to disperse. He really didn't seem to be in the mood for a lot of questions, though he was staying around if individuals had one or two.
At the entrance of the Embassy, Xifeng was walking up from her cab. Her heair done up in a tight chinese style hair bun with chop sticks through them. A long blue Cheongsam with a flower embroidery held tight to her form. There was no slits along the side though. Her sleeves came just around her shoulders and poofed out slightly. Only thing that seemed off from the well made of chinese woman was the black, shined, combat boots poking out from under her hem. A chinese paper folding fan, was used to shield her face as she joined the procession in ward. Deep in her mind, behind the smile she showed the world and hid behind the accenting fan, she was livid to be standing amoungst all these...these...Inables. The very thought of the normal humans sickened her. How they had so much power. Not to mention Yang Fang was here as well. The most usual of the Inables.
The Chinese weapon hid herself in the silk and finery quite well and managed to get through to the ball room, moving along the buffet line to a point she could catch sight of her target. There were people already dancing. The Chinese National orchestra was playing music. There were plenty of Quirkers walking around. Most of the servants had some sort of very noticeable Mutation to them. It was almost like the Ambassador was trying to show off his treasure trove. It was getting harder and harder for her to not visibly wretch at the sight. Right now she was ready to kill him, regardless if he made the announcement.

Junko was a woman who was always against the odds. All she wanted was to become a Hero, but when she did that, she was quickly and swiftly called by the UA to assist the school in the wake of not one but two disasters. Ever since then, Junko was trapped in the role of a teacher.
But now, she was not a teacher. She was called not as a teacher, but as a bodyguard and you bet the Gemstone Hero would accept the job to further her own goals and become a Hero. She will not let Darkshine mock her. The number 1 Hero becomes a Vice Principal. Darkshine. Her superior not just in 1 way, but 2 ways. As a top ranking hero AND as a Vice Principal.
Junko was now here as a bodyguard, she obeyed every order she got. Mingle and try to look as if she's having fun. That was her order and thats what she did. She did her best to follow that order because everyone who knew Junko, knew how serious and 'not fun' she was. Junko held a wine glass and slowly sipped it. She remembered the one that was with her. Red Horn. She hoped that one was competent of a partner. Because this was Junko's chance to be recognized as a Hero. She could quit her teacher job and become a full fledged hero and surpass Darkshine

Mia hadn’t really taken an interest in politics even back in America, but she’d tried to keep at least a cautionary eye on it since heroes became part of the government, and thus also the political systems. The ambassador seemed to be someone who was all for quirkers, and as such she’d given him a bit of a thumbs up in her books. On the other hand though he was still a politician, and not someone Mia could inherently trust. When she got a request to act as his bodyguard for some event she was quick to turn it down. He had as much of her support as she could offer, so she wasn’t about to start working for him even in an event like this.
What she hadn’t expected was ending up with an invite to the occasion. She knew it was a political move if there ever was one, just getting a registered hero at the event instantly promised more protection whether she was on the job or not, but it also meant she didn’t have to be paid for the chance. Instead, she got to enjoy herself and eat tiny portions of free food…eh. Sure. Why not. The dude seemed chill and she’d love seeing the odd looks from all the stuffy old folks who were probably gonna be there.
Attending the event in a full suit to try and look smart (though just sticking out more since any women at the event were likely wearing dresses) Mia was sticking to the side of the room for the most part, her eyes scanning the room. She spotted a fair few quirkers working the waiting services and at first it seemed like a good thing. Some quirkers had a hard time finding work with quirkest folks still existing…but as she realized almost none of the serving staff didn’t not have a noticeable mutation, it seemed less like being kind to those with quirks and more like using them…she wondered if the ambassador was in support of quirkers, or admired them like objects. She…she preferred not to think about it. She’d rather hope there was a good politician out there in favour and support of quirkers than think they were just using them like a talking piece.
Speaking of noticeable mutations though, she stuck out a fair bit herself, and so did one of the bodyguards in the room, though she only saw them as another guest with the casual clothes policy. Mia wandering over to the blue skinned UA teacher, snatching a drink up off a platter and taking a sip on her way…blegh. Why wine? Who wanted alcohol to be fruity.
“Hey blue.” She smirked, waving to the fellow her, never having met them in person but knowing them as a past hero. “Junko right? What brings a fellow heroine here tonight? Get an ‘invite’ too?~”

When making a call for bodyguards after a threat on your life has been made, it pays to be careful where the call reaches. Specifically, it pays to be sure it doesn’t reach the exact kind of people who, perhaps don’t want to kill you themselves, but do want to see your grey matter painted onto the wall.
Sure, asking from more illicit channels means a greater chance to find people who’ll do anything for cash, or those who simply jump at any chance to potentially rough others up, but it also makes you look desperate. An ambassador needing protection on such short notice suggests two things in particular; that the regular guards have already been judged as insufficient to respond to whatever the threat is, and that any additional hired protection is likely unprepared and potentially untrained.
These were all thoughts that ran through Goro’s head as he made his way into the Chinese Embassy. He felt slightly uncomfortable without his tablet tonight, as it was often his only outlet to sort through his blindingly fast thought processes without losing focus on the world around him, but the possibility of security confiscating it and/or searching through his files was significantly more dangerous.
As the doormen quickly ushered him and the rest of the crowd at the door into the embassy, it became all the more obvious in his mind how poorly this event was protected. They weren’t even checking invitations at the door; how exactly did they expect to keep would-be assailants out? He kept his mockery of the security to his own mind, but his wings twitched in amusement.
The bat reached the ballroom and darted towards the buffet line; he hadn’t eaten the whole night to be honest, and no matter how much he detested everyone involved in organizing this event he wasn’t about to go hungry all night just out of spite. It was hard to get a decent read on the room with his Quirk, or where the ambassador himself was for that matter, on account of just how many people were already inside. The live music certainly wasn’t helping matters.
He wasn’t there to attempt assassination, of course. He wouldn’t have entered through the front door if he was. However, the ambassador was a person of interest to the Gifted Underground, to put it in as polite terms as possible, and he was certainly someone Goro wouldn’t have any issues watching die. Plus, the potential subjects of his announcement were somewhat concerning; while they didn’t have many solid details, China certainly wasn’t the most forward-thinking nation when it came to Quirkers, so God knows what the results would be. Considering how many guests present were Quirkers, it seemed pretty obvious the announcement was Quirk-related, at least.
The buffet line moved forward, and Goro started to realise what had been bothering him the whole time. Waiters, chefs, and even some of the embassy guards all had very visible mutations. It stank of objectification, as if the embassy was some kind of gilded zoo. He shuddered in disgust and pulled his wings slightly tighter against his back, thankful that the Underground hadn’t tasked him with infiltrating the bodyguards. The mere thought of it made his skin crawl. As he continued to scan the crowd, counting the number of employed mutants out of some kind of disgusted curiosity, he silently hoped that whoever had threatened the good ambassador would get it over with already. There were one or two Pro Heroes he recognized close by, but there was no way he was going up to try and speak with any of them.
