CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 333 WORDS ■ "Holy fuck that was smooth." ■ Taking his phone in her hands, she would quickly input her number, listing her name as "Itsy Manji." Handing it back, he would text her right away, a message she would read some hours later. For now, it was strictly business, or so, that was the plan.
"No one said we'd have to tell them anything. I'd imagine nothing more than our names. The less the villains know about us, the better." But she needed the public on their side. If Japan agreed with them, mutants would be more accepted, he would rise to being a known hero and Caitlyn could easily return to the life she wanted, being nothing more than a support hero. Maybe she could learn to hide what she looked like for rescues. Maybe people would be excited to see her. But that day was not soon, if at all. But at least with someone who enjoyed her company, and someone who shared a similar fate, he could understand. And perhaps that made it all the more fitting to be with each other, working. Professionally. Because she was a professional hero.
It wasn't that they were be on talk shows or anything. He wasn't going to be a disciple. It was a mutual relationship. Lyn had someone to support, to use her quirk to it's limit, and he got some real time with a hero. In the end she would showcase her real powers, while he could go legit. She didn't know what life he led up to now, but whatever it was, if he really fought for good, it was enough to be forgiven, surely.
"That's fair." she would tell him. "I, myself, am more than ready to take the face of heroes. But I don't think Japan is ready for a mutant quirk to be the face of Japan's heroes. Maybe one day." She'd be lying if she said she didn't want the attention. And she'd be lying if she didn't think something was up with Darkshine.

Due to staying out of the media and generally not paying much attention to hero news himself. G didnt know what to say if he needed to speak to the news hounds. But Itsy told him they'd probably say nothing more then their names. He nodded when she said the less Villains know about them the better
G scratched his head and said "You'll have to teach me or prep me for any news stuff. I never did that, so I dunno what to say or do. Im afraid of saying too much" That was his concern, he never watched a hero interview and when one would come up on TV, he'd switch the channel. So G had no idea what to do.
When Itsy said that she's more then ready to be the face of Heroes, G didnt know what to say. He didnt think it'd be appropriate to say that she'd be a cute face. But luckily when she said that the world aint ready for mutants, he nodded "Yea, its a shame. If possible, I'd let you have the cameras and interviews of the public, not me. But sadly, the world is fickle" he said with a sigh

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 236 WORDS ■ "Do you have children?" ■ A name was to strike fear, to allow the world to remember the. A title as simple as "G" was balanced by the mouthful of "Army Of One." Would she simply be nicknamed Army, or One when the time came? Would they refer to her at Itsy? Or perhaps Miss Manji, a name that brought back more memories than it should have. "I can prepare you, I've gotten used to helping some civilians on speaking on my behalf. But I'd like to connect a face to me, or well us. If and when the time came." For her, it was temporary. The day he learned and took a spot as a hero, she would take her original position as crowd control. She dreamed of a day when people would greet her and welcome her, than to scream in fear of what appeared to look like a villain. She hated moments like those.
"I do believe it is our duty to struggle." she said to him, "We heroes alone must carry the burdens of this world's people, one country at a time. It is not about bettering our lives, but those that come after us." she spoke, "I hope children can one day be accepted by society, no matter how they look."
And while she spoke of herself, she wished too, that her child would bear no weight of this old world. It was time to change.

G nodded "Yes, indeed" he said, if she wants a face for her or them, then he'll help her. Itsy then spoke about a heroes duty. G wholeheartedly agreed with every single point she said "Too true. I hope there are more heroes like you in the future. I really hate how these so called heroes just wanna beter themselves. Its sad." he then changed the subject to the latter part which she spoke "I hope so too, but I feel we gotta give it 3 to 4 generations to fully wipe out the racism and give it a clean slate"
He doubted that people would be accepted any time soon. He was shunned for his Quirk and he has an Emitter type. People still tend to give him shit. For them to be viewed as equals, the Quirkless normies have to be purged, but not by force. By genes and numbers and simply time. The chance to be Quirkless is 20%. Give it 3 to 4 generations and everyone will have Quirks. Well, that was G's logic
"So... when do you think will people accept us? All of us, not just Emitters?" he asked, he avoided using the term Quirker, he hated that word

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 331 WORDS ■ "But do you accept me?" ■ Villains, they were killers. With them preying on the weak, which to them was most often those quirks too subtle to notice the difference between them and their real targets; The quirkless. She may have not know for sure, but she was already expecting a riot of quirkers to rise up and fight back a society of quirkless. People who had emitters and transformations would be able to hide to either side, without either knowing. Their safety was sealed. but the mutants were bound to one side, and into a body that some still found foreign to their own. Caitlyn, was no exception. But with a number, came a man, and with him, her dream of a brand new accepting society seemed to be in reach. To her, it seemed like all of her work was going to pay off. Listening to his words, he nodded, agreeing with him. Even if he never took her proposal, a conversation with him seemed to be healthy, at least mentally for her, reinforcing her ideals. If they fought for the same thing, it didn't matter who was in whose pocket.
"I think, when the face of the heroes is someone, well, a mutant, maybe then the world will change. The quirkless minority will have to accept the change, and those with quirks will understand, or at least begin to understand to accept those that appear different than them. With so many quirks, it will be hard to discriminate others. And when mutants are assimilated into society, no one will care if you have feline ears, or are a pile of goop. You'll be like anyone else." It was her dream. With him, it seemed possible. But how long was she going to keep him? Was it time to go home? Where was he going? Should they walk together? But what if he was going to the other side of town? Should they call a cab?
She had many questions, and like always, few answers.

'When the face of the heroes is a mutant, maybe then the world will change.' Those words sounded so naive to G. It was as if a young, innocent and naive child spoke to him. He just wanted to hug the child. Thats how he felt those words were naive and hopeful and wrong. Way back, 63 years ago, at 2009, people thought that a black american president would mean its the end of racism. Boy were people naive and wrong. Thats what G thought hearing Itsy's words. When the face of heroes is a mutant... nope. It's time. But still, he didnt want to discourage her "Heh. I hope that time is soon then." he said, but also noticed that the spider woman seemed puzzled perhaps...something was up "Are you ok? You seem to be... I dunno... absent minded? Do you need to be elsewhere?"
He didnt want to keep Itsy if she had to go somewhere. Maybe he could escort her home. Not to keep her safe, she's a Pro Hero, but for the sake of company. He didnt mind speaking to her or spending time with her. She was a lovely woman after all, and in G's eye's the spider bits were only a plus

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 221 WORDS ■ "Lol, take me to your house" ■ Change could never happen overnight. It wasn't the world seeing a quirk leader, it was changing the person that represented them. When the quirkless were seen no longer, when they were bred out of the food chain, someone else would stand. It would soon be a battle of being emitter, mutant, or some transformation. It was inevitable. She knew being the face, would at least give mutants a hope of wanting to be known. A small cause, that would lead to a large effect. A series of chain reactions. at least to her, it made sense that way. She wasn't asking for world peace, after all, that would have put her out of a job.
"I was simply wondering if I should begin to head home, and if you should as well." she said, her voice a bit shaken as she thought it over. "It's not that I'm busy, or have other plans, I simply did not wish to keep you longer than you had imagined." She spoke, backtracking in her mind, as her words were about to contradict themselves. "But if we lived in the same direction, we could perhaps walk our way there, and continue our discussion, unless you think it more fit to share a cab?" Endless suggestions as her mind ran at a thousand miles an hour.

G wondered if he possibly said something wrong. He felt he needed to reassure her that everything is fine "I'm free, I dont need to be anywhere else sadly" he said looking slightly away from her. He was disappointed he was alone. There was no one really waiting for him. So he had all the time in the world. But just because he had time, didnt mean that she had all the sweet time he did. When Itsy suggested that if they lived in the same direction that they could just simply walk over there, G smiled. He was happy to chat more with her and he was very eager to help her doing hero stuff
"Depends where you live. But nevertheless, I could escort you to your home no matter where you live. As I said, I got free time. Now if you want a cab, you can take it. Personally I dont mind walking" G said as he personally wasnt in a waiting mood. They'd need to call a can and wait for the damn thing arrived. And he didnt wanna have any of it. But if she didnt mind walking, he'd gladly escort her and keep her company. Itsy was such a delightful person after all

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 224 WORDS ■ "This is going to be a cheap romance film." ■ She didn't really want to sit in a cab, and much less have to deal with another possibly racist and hostile cabby. Even if she was a pro hero, it didn't mean people weren't allowed to hate her. Not everyone was going to be accepting of her. She didn't think much of it, only hoping that if she bore their pain, maybe no other mutant would have to. "I don't mind walking either." she would say, "But I live in Mustafu. It's quite a ways from here, makes a walk more of a hike, I'd think." She tried to make a reason for them to walk with each other, but she would never think about simply inviting him. She was a professional hero after all, she didn't need protection from anyone. But she did enjoy the company.
She didn't know if it was out of his way or not, but either way she was going to walk that direction. Perhaps she would catch a bus or some other ride if she really got tired. There was a lot for her to consider and think about. There was also the chance they lived super close, but also that they could have lived on opposite sides of the city. Whatever the outcome, she was hoping it was going to go her way. But hadn't it always?

So she lived in Musutafu too. That was interesting and convienent. Since nowadays, G himself mainly lived in Musutafu. Technically he could invite Itsy to stay at his place in Tokyo. But he felt he'd be jumping the shark if he invited a Pro Hero that he barely knew to sleep at his place. Maybe some time in the future after a bunch of hero missions and teamwork, then maybe he'd let her stay over and crash at his place when he's absent, or when she needed it or stuff. For now though, he still felt like he needed to get to know her
"Musutafu? Aint that so? I live there as well. We could walk there. To be honest, I came with bus here. If you want I can escort you to your place. It's really not a problem. Though, I imagine our feet will get sore if we just walk, so if you want we can take a bus" G suggested as he motioned her to follow him since they were gonna go walk in the same direction. If she followed, G would ask her as he walked "So... where do you live? I live like super close to that UA school"

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 206 WORDS ■ "Huh, it's almost like we were meant to live near each other. Weird." ■ Exercise was convenient, for her at least. When she got tired, all she needed was a few spiders to carry and pick her up on the way there. While she rested, they worked, then she would pick up right when she had enough energy. Walking with another person would encourage her to get into better shape, and if he was up for the travel, she would endure the burn of her body... from well, walking.
"I'm sure we can use a bus if we get tired. I usually try to stay away from public transportation, usually because someone has arachnophobia..." as he motioned to lead her, she would follow, beginning their new adventure. "Oh, you're by the school? I'm in a condo not that far from the school. Well, I mean it's quite a ways out, but it's around the area. Have you been there long?" Asking about how long he lived there would tell him a good number of things about him, as well as how much of Japan he might have known. Was he one for talking? It didn't matter now. She was going to find out, and if either made one wrong move, it was going to be a long uncomfortable walk home.

He frowned a bit when she said how she stays away from public transportation purely because of her looks. That was so racist. He could understand arachnophobia, but still. She was a human being, not a spider. Itsy had a human brain and wouldnt react like a wild spider around people. Why couldnt people be rational. He did his best not to sigh hearing that.
Luckily, she switched the subject to the school. It looked like she lived close as well, in a condo. She then asked how long did he live there "Me? Oh... I moved there at the start of the school year. I mostly lived in Tokyo" G said,a bit shyly
He moved there for Miku, so he could be close to her. The place was smaller, but much more cozy. He took a liking to his small apartment. But he was sure that was nothing compared to a Pro's condo "She's probably super rich. All the pros are" G thought to himself as he wondered if it was possible for him to become an official Pro Hero as well. He shook his head and doubted it was possible. He had so many baggage that stopped him from going legit. Not to mention, he was too rough to be a Hero

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 238 WORDS ■ "This isn't what I wanted" ■ Not that long it seemed. Maybe a year at the most. Why hadn't she seen him before? Well, it wasn't like she had to walk in the shadows and take the back roads. She was used to alleys and using her spiders to get around places. "Oh, so you just moved not that long ago. I think I've been in Mustafu for about a decade now. My landlord has been really nice, so I haven't had the reason to move yet." She didn't need a large house. A big house was to get lost in, and the smaller it was, the closer she was able to be to Cassandra. One floor, one bedroom. It was simple, just how she liked it. It was nothing like her place back home. The kitchen wasn't that much bigger than her room, and the space outside was just enough to eat, and celebrate Christmas at the end of the year. The perfect size for a mother and the child she cared for.
She looked over at him, to see him shake his head. She was unsure if she had asked a question that was not right to ask in the first place. Was his living conditions poor? Did he need help? No, he seemed a bit more well placed than she was. Right? "I don't think I could afford Tokyo." she told him. "Do you work at the school?" she asked, curious.

He was surprised to hear that she couldnt afford Tokyo. That statement surprised and confused him. And then she threw another question. Did he work at school. He laughed for a bit and answer "Oh, I wish! To be a substitute teacher. To teach the kids how to be a Hero the right way. And not for petty reasons like money"
He hated money grubbing Heroes. No, not heroes, people just waiting for a paycheck, and people wanting to be famous. That irked him so much. He wished he could teach kids what a REAL HERO is. Hell, he'd teach his current students, all he needed was chalk and a blackboard. Or hell, he could just take a marker and write on his house's wall. There was so much he disliked about the system. It was as if it promotes fake heroes, not real ones. Darkshine... she was a disguisting piece of trash, not a hero. She personifies everything wrong with the system. No... He couldnt let it get to him. Itsy asked him a question "Im sadly not a part of staff at UA. But I do have a sister who's a janitor there. She's.... nice or well... interesting" he said

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 228 WORDS ■ "Kasey who?" ■ Money. It was something she lived day to day on. But she wasn't like the other heroes. She rarely found herself workign with police directly. Often she was on donations, from small shops, to larger corporations. Break ins, shoplifting, vandalism, the normal things. Some paid more than others, but to her, a penny fro ma poor man meant more than the millions from the rich man. She had enough saved up to pay for a few more years if she kept at her pace of food and work. But if something happened, she would have to find a new job. She'd have to resort to contracting again. It was something she hated, having to be muscle, but it paid well.
"Oh, it would be quite nice to be a teacher." She wanted to help kids, but with her appearance... not all would take her lessons kindly. "A janitor is an interesting job to have." Perhaps that would work well for her. To work dark hours where none cold see you work. To work where none would fear you. Everyone saw her as trash anyways...
"I don't have a sister, I do have a daughter. Well, cousin. Maybe niece is more accurate... Either way I have a child. Maybe one day she'll be able to go to that school one day. Maybe even meet your nice and interesting sister."
