CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 553 WORDS ■ "Bring me another!" ■ That was what it was about, right? Concealing. But how was she supposed to fit in? She stuck out. She was a mutant. Here at least, she fit in, she was among her people, even if famous, or at least a little bit more well known. She sat at the bar, spinning around between every few shots. Counter clockwise. Clockwise. Left. Right. Left again. Left again. Too much. Right. Balanced. Yes. She wasn't drunk, not yet at least, but she was starting to feel the effects of it. "Gimme more soju! You guys really got the good stuff!" she said again, the dozens of little glasses stacked up into a tower, the third one she had built that night. She smiled, drinking more and more. It had been only a month back in Japan, and this brand new club had opened up. With her own business ID she had gotten an employee discount on everything, something she was planning to take full advantage of. She spun around, looking at the crowd of a dozen people on one side of the club, dancing and moving to the heavy music. On the other, the many tables being served quick and simple foods. It was great. From time to time someone would approach her, speak to her and buy her a drink. Being a professional hero was her dream, and now she was known, it was perfect. "Hey Mister," she addressed the bartender, the mask on his face only fitting to the theme of the club. "How long has the Pink Jackal been 'round?" she asked, giggling at the end of it. "Who is in charge of this place, I gotta meet 'em. She had been in Korea for how long? Her Japanese was broken, reduced to slang, but she still seemed to grasp it. Slipping at times. "We're fairly new." the man said. "And she is none other than Crimson Skull. Better known as the Army of One." he said to her, the skull mask on his face smiling back at her. "Unfortunately, she only has one pair of arms. Even if you both share the name.""Huh, good taste in names then I guess." she said, hammering down another shot as she barely was able to hold all of her eyes open. "Are there other heroes I should know about?"The Pink Jackal. The club that filled an old factory. A fourth of the club was actually used for the club, and that was only talking about the ground level. Three stories to it, and only one was paying for the business. A club that handed paper skull masks to all of it's guests, with plastic ones for a price. A club that welcomed vigilantes and heroes alike to come drink and dance. a club, for heroes. Caitlyn herself was dressed in some victorian vampire outfit, taking advantage of the theme of the club. Everyone was a hero here, and everyone had an outfit on. Some had costumes of the other professionals, Caitlyn running into a few impostors of herself, signing them as they continued to feed her attention. She enjoyed it, perhaps a bit too much. But here, she was going to enjoy every outfit she owned, no matter how unfit it seemed. This place was haven. And this place had employee benefits.

The nightclub was finally open, the Pink Jackal. It was something, Kasey really outdid herself when making this. He feels like this was made in no time flash. He decided to indulge in the drinks, booze. You could never go wrong with booze. He went to the bar and went to order anything alcoholic. But then noticed the bartender was already busy, talking to a spider lady. Funny, this was the 2nd spider lady he saw. She asked for how long the club was opened. G stuck around close, to eavesdrop on the conversation. When she asked what heroes should she know about, G decided to chime in. "Depends on what kind of heroes are you looking for" he told her. Then turned to the bartender and spoke "Give me anything alcoholic. Whatever you have" After making his order, he turned to the spider lady "Soo, why are you curious about Heroes?" he asked her
He then glanced at the rest of the club. The club hand out paper skull masks, it was odd, but sorta fitting. Kasey always had a bone motif, he had the skull motif. A skull is made of bone, so it sorta makes sense the club has a bit of the skull motif. Still it felt odd, just like the time with Levi. He was actually famous? He had no idea. How does one properly react to that?

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 282 WORDS ■ "Step into my parlor... er, bar?" ■ The bartender would return with their drinks, only for Caitlyn to continue to wave around her employee ID with a big grand ol' smile. It was almost like a credit card, although it didn't hold any value, other than the rewards points she was racking up. Every swipe saved the next card money, the next being his credit card, or whatever he used, or his tab. They might as well give her a frequent buyers card.
"Anyone that isn't Darkshine or Red Horn." she would answer, "I've been away for the last few months, went back home for..." she paused, almost like she had to think of the answer, but she was trying to word it in a way any Japanese person could understand. Taking a moment to lift another shot glass to her mouth before slamming it down to the other dozens she had stacked up, she continued. ". . . a religious venture. Anyways, I was curious to see if any of my friends had turned professional as well." she would say, turning to the white haired man.
"You gonna buy me a drink, cutie? she said with a smile. If she had flesh, her face would have turned rose, but behind the skin she did have, it was still the same violet color that she was. She looked at the man, trying to figure who he was dressed to be. Maybe he was some kind of super villain, a thug of some kind. A mob boss? The look was interesting, but strange. But how could she blame him, this was the perfect place to dress up and cosplay as heroes, even villains too. Japan was such a great country.

Heroes that aint Red Horn or Darkshine. He pondered a bit before replying "Most of the Heroes I heard of are at that UA Hero School. Yellow Jacket is the number 3 Pro Hero and a UA Teacher. Though, for some reason, the bee hero has a wasp hero name. I guess she should work on her Entomology. There's also the 6th ranked hero Glovebox, who's also at UA. Everyone I can list is most likely at that school. Only Red Horn and Darkshine are the ones that I know of, are doing their own thing" he said as he got his drink He got his booze and proceeded to drink it.
When she aske if he was gonna buy her a drink, he stopped drinking and smiled to her for a moment, motioned the bartender to come over and said "Get this lady whatever she wants" He decided to indulge her and buy her a drink. He could afford that.
G then turned his attention back to the lady "Oh, sorry. I guess I didnt introduce myself. You can call me G. Who might you be?" he asked for a name, since he's buying her a drink, he thought he should at least learn who's he getting the drink for

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 220 WORDS ■ "This isn't what I wanted" ■ Give and take. Was it a Korean thing? Maybe it was just how she was brought up, not having to do with her country of origin, but still, every question he answered, was one she would in turn, answer as well. One for one. She took, she gave. He took, he gave. It was a fair trade. And it was how the world worked, or at least, should have worked.
As he sipped his booze, she would continue to shuffle and restack her little glasses, something that having six arms made a lot easier. When he called over the bartender to take her order, it felt like he was after her own heart. "Six more shots of Chamisuul!" she would say, her two upper right arms both holding up three fingers as she focused on her new construction. Fine Sojo, and a drink that never broke the bank. Six hundred yen for all of it? It wasn't the most expensive thing she could have ordered.
"You can just call me Army of One." she would say, focused on her cups, finishing and turning back to the man shortly after. "Though, I don't suppose many people remember me." She smiled. She was the perfect back up, but never the lead. She didn't need the attention, she just wanted to be there.

She made her order. G didnt expect her to take 6 more shots. Luckily 600 yen was something he could afford. While the bartender did his thing and went to fetch the lady her drink...s. G listened to her say her name. But what he heard was not something he expected at all. Army of One. "Wait... did you say Army of One??" he asked surprised. That was the person Leviathan kept mentioning to G. In Levi's story, Army of One was G's sidekick, even though G himself worked solo.
Whle he had heard about many heroes. Army of One wasnt one of them. Most likely because of her absence. But now he got to see her in the flesh. He liked what he saw "Can you tell me something about yourself? What brought you here?" He asked, intrigued by her
He finally met his so called sidekick that Leviathan kept mentioning, he was not gonna miss this opportunity. When he remembered Levi's story. She referered Army of One as a 'he'. G also remembered that she says that 'he's' dorky and stays in the shadows and makes sure no one gets away. And is always there to help always wathing "What else did she say?" G thought to himself trying to remember

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 250 WORDS ■ "how cute! he's a fan!" ■ So he was a fan, and wasn't just someone trying to talk to her? That seemed weird. Usually it was the hero thing that got people drawn to her, not herself. It seemed off, but what did she care? Maybe he had an interest in her, or maybe it was just his game.
"The one and only." she would tell him. "I'm still surprised some people remember me. A year or so ago, I got my licence with Umbra. But I guess there was some behind the scenes thing with my certification, so they pulled it. I was basically a vigilante then. Got a few jobs at the hospital before I went back home, to Korea for, well you already know." she would tell him, a smile on her face. "Or do you mean here, here? Do you come here often?" she'd giggle, it was almost like a pick up line. Wait was it? Oh who cares. "I was a surgeon in Korea. Here, I'm just Army of One. I guess I'm still a hero only to the people who've seen me, or my name. I don't do well with the media, being a bug and all." She was talking, waaaaay too much. She needed to pass it off, to get him to talk. To get him to speak.
"You don't seem like the night clubby dancy type. Do you just come here to buy drinks for girls with six arms?" she asked, her smile never fading from her face.

He listened to her speak and explain some things.... well not really or maybe yes. She spoke so much that G wasnt sure he fully got to follow her. Army of One thought that G was a fan since she said that she's surprised that people remember her. Which for G was not the case. "Really? You were a Vigilante? Well, so am I. Well... I mean you were a Vigilante, while I still am a Vigilante" G said as he felt he can be safe with her. He doubted that an ex Vigilante would arrest a fellow Vigilante, right?
She then giggled and asked him if he comes here often. But it was almost like a pick up line... or was it? He wasnt sure, but just winged it "Here here? I come here sometimes when I feel like it. But, why do you ask? Do you come here here often?" he teased or flirted there a bit in the end, he wasnt sure himself, she can take it any way she sees fit.
He heard her speak and understood why she didnt do well with the media. He nodded and said "I avoid the media as well"
She then said that he doesnt seem like the 'night clubby dancy type' to which then G joked and said "Im shocked that you'd say that! Im totes the best dancer this dancefloor has"

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 236 WORDS ■ "Was that an invitation?" ■ It was against the law. He broke the law. He was a criminal. He was breaking the law. He needed to be arrested. WEE WOO. WEE WOO. The alarms in her head went off, but he was no villain. There was no real crime if he was lessening it. It was being a more active good Samaritan. He was doing good, by doing the same things she did, the difference was the card she held onto, the little ID. And not the one from Ketsujo. She had a natural reaction to any criminal activity, to stop it. But with the lack of heroes, most of them teachers now, and few of them active, she could see how keeping an eye on the vigilantes was not only a good way to monitor if they were doing good, but also the villains. They would confront others, and to network information was a good line of defense for her. Maybe she could trust the heroes of today, but something about them made her uneasy, but why?
"It's my first time." she would admit to him, "So be gentle." she would say to him, lifting her top right arm, as the rest rested at her side. Her hand would be extended to him, a weak wrist, her palm to the ground, allowing him to take the lead. "You're the best dancer, aren't you?" she would say to him, "Show me."

Army of One would say that this was her first time visiting his place and then joked to him to be 'gentle'. G chuckled as he liked her humour. What she did net was take him on his offer, an offer he didnt actually make. But nevertheless he took her to the dance floor. He wasnt sure how well was she as a dancer, but nevertheless he still helped her even though he was way better at solo dancing instead of this like pair or couple dancing.
Throughout all this though he was a song stuck in his head. Mostly because of the situation "Step up to the Funtime Dance Floor, dance floor. Where we play you music, plus more. Plus more. Don’t be scared of what will happen, happen. We’re just having fun and dancing, dancing" G thought to himself as the lyrics of one of his old songs was stuck in his head
G looked at Army of One to see how she was during the dancing. He wondered how she was dong. Well, actually "How you holdin up?" he asked, no one said they couldnt chat as they dance, but then again, he just remembered there was music, she probably didnt hear him "Nevermind" he said

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 202 WORDS ■ "I want to go home." ■ Following him, she would he guided to the floor beside a man she had just met. A vigilante, but how successful? How did he strive to be a hero? What quirk did he have? Questions, she could have asked, but had held her tongue. Or more appropriately, the spiders held her tongue, dancing inside of the woman's mouth as see begun to swing back and forth. Her hands lifted above her head, as all her wrists met. She shimmied and swayed to the side, as well as to the ground and back to level. Most of her eyes closed as she got into the moment.
"Good, a bit loud for me though." she spoke, answering him, reading his lips. She could barely hear him, but it didn't stop her from trying. The top center eye upon her forehead watched the man, as the rest of her body moved with the sound and groove. She was sure to speak slowly, if not annuciating her words, hoping he was able to do the same. Or would sign language be enough to tell him. "Do you like this kind of music?" she spoke, wondering if he would answer her, as easily as she answered him.

G danced with Army of One. Did the best he could as he was not really used to dance in pairs. He was a solo show. Thats how his life was anyway. Not only that, but the spider woman was... well a spider woman. Multiple arms and such. It was strange, not bad in any way, just strange.
Army of One, gosh there had to be an easier name, the woman, surprisingly answered his question. G didnt hear her a lot though. If she could read lips, he most certainly couldnt, which led him to say ".........................WHAT??" He couldnt hear what she had to say, so he just danced until the music stopped or until she decided not to dance anymore

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 318 WORDS ■ "You're familiar." ■ . . . And when the song finally changed tempo, switching and transitioning to another, she reached out and grabbed him by his hand. She was done dancing, and has awkward as it was to watch him try and dance with others, she wanted to know a bit more about the country she has re-entering.
Darkshine was injured by none other than Thundershock. In four months time, he was not stopped or brought to justice. Either he was stronger than they thought, or he had political influence like she believed. But the longer he remained, the more the villain population would be encouraged to strike. While Caitlyn had taken care of the pawns, and the fodder, she couldn't help but wonder if it was time to fight the top. Could she do it alone? Was she really the army she used to be?
She would pull him away from the dancefloor and towards the tables where food would be served. They didn't have waitstaff, you simply went up, ordered, and sat down. But it wasn't that she was hungry, it was that she just didn't feel right. Something felt off. When out of earshot of the speakers that seemed to boom, she would speak to him, only to think of what to order.
"You can just call me Itsy." she told him. Extending her hand towards him, as if greeting him for the first time. "Itsy is easier to say than Army of One, isn't it?" she asked, but also told him. But she had questions, many of them needing answers. Now was the best time as any. "Have you worked with other heroes before?" she asked, "I don't think I've seen you in action before."
But she was remembering. She knew what she had been doing before she went back home. But soon, the blur would be focused, and everything would be answered. Soon, wasn't soon enough.

And now the music changed, but she did not dance, instead she took him by the hand and took him off the dance floor and towards the tables. He hoped his dancing wasnt that bad. She then introduced herself, he couldnt help but smile as her name was actually a pun. Itsy bitsy spider. He knew this wasnt a name, but it was cute and fun G shook her hand. "Nice to meet you. And yea... Army of One is kind of a mouthful" he said. But soon, she asked another question, if he worked with heroes "Well.... I sorta worked with Yellow Jacket while I was on hiatus. A robber ran into me and I helped Yellow capture him. There was a noob hero called Gale Force who got captured and I had to save her with my partner Sunhawk. I never worked with Red Horn, I sparred with her. Oh and the not seeing me in action part is because I avoid the media and attention. I dont like the attention. Fat good you are if everyone and their mother knows you and your Quirk" G explained This woman, mysterious but ever so curious kept asking more questions. And G kept answering them.

CAITLYN, ARMY OF ONE ■ 443 WORDS ■ "It seems we have a lot in common." ■ She listened, and spoke with him, while piecing it all together. Yellow Jacket was the wasp lady right? Flight, and some bugs to her name. Was much more friendly looking than Caitlyn could ever be. Compared to her, she looked like a monster. Not that she didn't look like one compared to any of the other girls. Gale Force was a name she hadn't heard before, but Red Horn was one she had read before. She knew her face, but never could remember really speaking with her, at least no more than passing conversation. So with that, she could understand how new he was to the scene, unless there was more he wasn't telling her.
"Smart move." she answered him. "I'd say I've done the same, but it's not like the media likes to interview a spider woman, about the things she lets live in her body..." The idea of it, reminded her of all of the looks of disgust she got. She could never use her quirk in public. It wasn't that she wasn't allowed to, it was just she was unappealing. To have hundreds, thousands, perhaps even millions of spiders exit her body from her mouth, her skin, her body, wasn't exactly normal. To shoot silk, to mend wounds, those were normal, but how she did them... she couldn't forgive herself for potentially scarring dozens of people who watched her in action. All of the people with a fear of spiders. The people she wasn't allowed to save. The people, she could never save.
"I almost wish people knew about mine." she would tell him, "Would make it a bit easier to do my job for once." Her smile faded, for the first moment of the evening. Her mind playing all of the moments where she was rescued a life, only for them to ask for someone else to take them to safety. The people who would have rather been in pain, to wait for someone else, than to allow her to help them. She was not a monster. But they would never see it for the truth. It was always about what was on the outside, never within.
"It's what he would want.' the thought ran into her mind. The idea of her sacrifices, her struggle. The more she offered of her life, the more she suffered, the more he god would watch her. The larger the pain she endured, the greater gift he could bestow. With a god who was known for giving away immortality with quirks that healed, power, with quirks that destroyed, all she wanted, was to live a normal life.
And to be a normal girl.
