Today Kaling was visiting the workshop of one of his father’s best friends,Kaibara Isoshi, who was also currently as his legal guardian, since he had no blood relative that was in any position of taking care of him. Since he entered U.A, he would he need now more than ever keep his robotic friend frame in top-notch conditions, and for that would need some spare parts and tools, which Mr. Kaibara was more than happy to provide him due to his friendship with Kaling’s deceased father.
Given free run to search the second floor of the workshop for anything he needed, Kaling began his search, looking for anything that could be useful for him in the vast amount of shelves and drawers in the room. After searching for an hour or so, he managed to gather almost everything he needed, except for a few things that were stored in a the last section of a very tall shelf near one of the place windows. Too stubborn to go one floor down and ask for help, and a bit lazy to go get the stepladder, he decided to try piling up some boxes that were near him and stepped on them to try and reach the accursed stash of tools, barely getting any grip on it. He then stood on the tip of his toes and was finally able to drag the crate down, but as soon as it started going down, he and his pile of irregularly placed boxed lost their balance bringing him, and the crate to the ground.
Luckily for him, he didn’t injure himself, but he soon noticed something weird… It seemed some of the tools of the crate were missing… And then he saw the open window… It took less than a second for him to connect the dots, concerned that he might’ve hurt someone, he quickly took a peek through the windows and noticed that there was someone in the exact spot where the things had fallen.
Frustrated with himself for that mistake, he didn’t even bother to take a good look at the person, he ran down the stairs of the workshop as fast as he could, and then rushed out of the shop to check on the person who could’ve been hurt by his reckless accident. -Hey! Are you alright!? - He asked, while gasping for air, tired from the short burst of sprinting. -I’m sorry I was just… I mean- I didn’t mean to… It was just an accident… Uh… - And he continued to apologize, to embarrassed to form any phrase that made sense or to look directly to the one who he was apologizing for.

There's not much you have to worry about in this part of the city, to be perfectly honest. The occasional runaway car, or drive by shooting in extreme cases. As far as accidents go, there wasn't much she had to worry about in particular. Especially when a bunch of tools came down from out of a window. Sure, she had to worry about the damage it would cause, but her quirk made it so she didn't have a lot to worry about urgently as a result of it.
Nene Mori was minding her own business, carrying with her a shopping bag filled with a few bread items for something special later that night. But, now she had to worry about if she even had a concussion. When Kaling came down the stairs, he would find a sporty bodied girl with nothing but blue skin. White hair short on all sides in a pixie cut save for two long locks of hair that hanged down over her shoulders. A baggy white long sleeve shirt that had a collar so big, it hanged off of one of her shoulders. Denim shorts barely visible from how the shirt hanged on her body.
A pair of black shoes, comically sized to the point that they looked like they were for wearing for show rather than function. The most telling part of her person was that dead pan stare from her glowing teal colored eyes. "Oh, it's fine." She said with a monotone, no inflection in her voice as she thought about how to go about saying this.
"If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go now. I don't want to trouble you." She said, standing up, grabbing her bag of bread and rubbing her head with her other hand.

It was only when the girl started speaking that Kaling took a good look at the girl to whom he was speaking, she was… different to say at least, even her clothing was kinda of weird. When she said “It’s fine” with a monotonous tone and a complete calmness on her voice, as if nothing happened at all, the purple haired boy gasped, surprised.. -W..Wait, are you sure it’s alright!? I mean… Something made of metal falling from the second of a building into you must sting as hell! - He exclaimed, surprised at the girl’s answer.
But then he started to realize something… - Wait a minute… - He said when the girl was starting to leave, still taking a few seconds to finish his thoughts before he started speaking again. -That unusual skin tone… And to shrug a something like a tool falling on you from the second floor like nothing happened… This must mean… -Kaling stopped for a bit and clenched his fist, and raised his fist as if he was going to say something impactful. -That you have a mutation quirk, and it gives you incredible resistance to pain and damage! - He exclaimed, perhaps a bit too excited with his brilliant deduction, almost forgetting that the embarrassment he had for dropping the tools on the girl.
-Oh… I think I got a little carried away… - his voice now had toned down, and he started to scratch the back of his head after realizing that he might’ve been a little rude exclaiming things like that to someone that he doesn’t even know. - I’m sorry, I’m just kinda excited because I’m on my first days on U.A you know? I didn’t had the opportunity to meet any of other student there, so I’m wondering what kind of awesome powers everyone there have. - Kaling finished with a smile on his face, before starting to collect the metal tools that were lying on the ground and putting some of them on his pockets with care, making sure he didn’t miss any of them.

Nene winced, not out of pain, but, out of a reaction to what this person said. They declared she should wait for a minute, which she promptly took one step backwards. Her bag holding hand held up in front of her body, while the other looked for something to grab to pull herself away from this situation. She was so sure she would suffer more bigotry. That she was about to be called a monster or something. Instead, this person geeked out on her like some sort of fan of comics that was overzealous about their studies.
"O-oh. Yes, it's a mutation." SHe said with a little bit of a flutter in her voice, a bit of emotion, just happy to not be ridiculed for being a zombie for once. Thankfully, this person didn't seem to know who she was at least. Though, when they mentioned their desire and joy about going to U.A. she just put on a bored expression and turned away.
"I said I was fine. I'll be leaving you now. Have a nice day." She wanted to go to that school, any school for that matter. SHe hadn't been to a school in a while. She was home schooled for the most part at this point, with specialized tutors being called in on a private payroll. The reputation of being a zombie, and possibly being infectious, made it so that she couldn't socialize with many people her age. It also kept her from trying to make a standing out of being a potential hero.
She didn't have the academic accolades to go to U.A. She didn't have the grades from a nice middle school. It was frustrating. SHe wanted to be a hero, not for any reason other than to show people she wasn't some sort of monster, instead, she had street punks harassing her normally, and getting in to fights that only perpetuated the cycle of peoples' thoughts about her.
She wanted to go set a pinecone or something on fire and watch it burn now. "I wouldn't know what they have, and I won't be seeing. You have fun." SHe said while starting to walk away, going the exact opposite direction she was going earlier, an indicator that something was wrong.

-Cool! I have an emitter quirk myself, wish I could show you but my friend’s “frame” is not around here. - Kaling said like that was the most normal thing in the world, still a bit excited after guessing correctly the girl’s quirk type, even if it was a bit obvious. He was also a bit content to see that the blue girl seemed a bit happier, showing a little of emotion on her voice instead of her monotonous tone. But that didn’t last long, soon after he finished talking again, she turned away from him and said goodbye in her own way. -Oh… Right, have a nice day. - The purple haired boy stopped picking and began to rub the back of his head confused, questioning himself if he said something rude or was simply being annoying acting like that. ‘Maybe she’s having a bad day or something and want to be left alone.’ Kaling thought to himself, immersing on his own thoughts, forgetting to pay attention to anything outside of his mind for a few moments.
He only “came back to the real world” when the girl spoke again, showing disinterest on his later commentary about U.A and the student’s quirk, but what was odd if the fact that the girl was there, she didn’t go away after saying she would and shortly after, start moving in the complete opposite direction from before, feeling that something was off, Kaling decided to try talking with her again. -Uh… Miss, I think you were going the other way… - Maybe he shouldn’t say a thing and just let go, but either due to his curiosity or good nature, or maybe both, he decided to continue. - Hey… I know it’s not my place to ask and all… But it’s everything truly “fine”? - He asked, putting his confused expression away, giving space for a friendly smile on his face, making a “thumbs up” with his right hand. -If you want to talk about anything, feel free to! It might help, you never know! - Kaling just hoped that wasn’t being weird with that over positive posture.

"All roads lead to Rome. City's can be walked through and you can get to the same place." She gruffly said in response to Kaling's first remark. Only to look at him with those glowing eyes of hers. "Do you really want to know? You really don't seem to be from around here. Are you new to the city?" She asked in her monotonous voice.
if she was invited inside, she would sigh and wlak in, where she would find a place to sit down. Especially if there were a couch or beanbag she could flop on to, while getting a pillow to hug to her body. She may look like a zombie and talk like she had no emotion, but, she was certainly animated like a girl in terms of her bodily movements.
"I'm Nene by the way." She introduced herself, not giving any more information to the person unless they asked for it. She wasn't an open book. You had to turn the pages yourself if you wanted any good reading material. "And, to start off, my quirk replaced my blood stream with formaldehyde. Which, is toxic to human lungs in its gaseous form. So, I wanted to make sure I'm not 'bleeding' and get away from someone that might die being around me if I were injured."

While the girl answer to his could be considered a bit rude, Kaling wasn’t one to be bothered by this kind of thing, just shrugging with his shoulders in answer to that. - Well, if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be bothering you right now, would I? - He replied with positive tone, that contrasted quite bit with the girl’s monotonous tone. - Well, I might not be from this part of the city, but I lived in Tokyo my whole life! - He said rubbing the back of his head with an embarrassed smile on his face.
The boy then picked up the last few tools that remained on the ground and decided to invite her inside the office, it would be a bit uncomfortable to speak standing on the street while carrying a bunch of tools. -Hey, why don’t we talk inside? I don’t think Mr. Kaibara would mind and since most of the employees are busy, I don’t anyone will bother us. - Kaling then led the girl through the workshop, since everyone there knew Kaling, the majority of the employees paid no mind to them, while some might them a curious eye because of the girl’s weird appearance, most of them were too busy doing own jobs.
After walking a bit, they finally walked into a small room used by the staff to rest during breaks. There were two arm chair and a coach, with a table on the middle of them. There some biscuits and a water jar on the table. Without further delay, Kaling sat on one of the arms chairs and waited for the girl to sit and get comfortable. -Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself back didn’t I? I’m Kaling Takahashi, a please to meet you Nene. - The boy said with his usual smile on his face, if Nene followed the local news, she might’ve associated the boys name with the Takahashi industries accident, which happened less than a month ago, where the director and lead engineer, Reo Takahashi, was killed.
When Nene started explaining a bit of her quirk, Kaling listened carefully with a curious look on his face. - I don’t know how dangerous that formaldehyde is, but it’s kinda amazing that your body still work at this condition. - He said intrigued, but then a suddendly a though crossed his mind. - Wait, shouldn’t be easy to feel if you were bleeding? Especially if it evaporates when you do. - He asked curiously, and after her answer, started talking again. -Well, I doubt that’s just it about your quirk, but since you told me your, I think it’s only fair I tell you about mine, I would ask you to guess it, but I doubt you would get even I gave you a million chances! -His tone now began to show more excitement and a confident smile appeared on his face. - Somehow, inside me lies another being! But I can’t hear or make him appear without a proper host… - Kaling then made a small pause, trying to create a moment of suspense and be a bit dramatic. - With a blue jolt of energy from my hands, I can send my friend into any electronic like a cellphone or even a robot, and he controls them like he was an built-in A.I! -He exclaimed excited, waiting to see what how Nene would react or what she would say about it before continuing.

She didn't even ask about his quirk, but there he went explaining it. "You are one of those guys that likes talking about powers aren't you? Do you not have any questions? If not, then I'm going to use the bathroom." She would push up off of the couch, walking on away from Kaling while she sought out the nearest bathroom. She wanted to check herself for injuries, anything that might yield an open wound.
"My body works the same, but, I can't feel certain pain, so I have to check for small cuts and seal them up. I also get stiff in the cold, and can be set aflame from an open wound. So, no, my body isn't exactly the same. Formaldehyde doesn't immediately evaporate under room temperature. But, certain things can cause it to become gaseous. I had to study a lot about it to make sure I don't accidentally kill someone, and prove all of those conspiracy theorists right."

When she said he was of those that liked to speak about powers and quirks, Kaling nodded with a smile on his face. -Well, no question that can’t wait a bit, just go out the door behind me, just turn left and walk in the first door you see, can’t miss it. - After giving her the directions, he waited patiently for her to return, intrigued with everything that she said about her quirk until, but what made him curious was the last bit of what she said before leaving, “prove those conspiracy theorist right.” What was that all about?
When Nene returned to the room, Kaling would wait until she sat down again before starting speaking again. -So,the source of all of your mutations aspects is because of the formaldehyde in your veins right? Like, your body adapted to work with it, and some things got changed. - He said, with a focused look on his face, he kept silent for a few moments before starting to speak again. - But one thing that you said earlier kinda caught my attention… You mentioned something about some “conspiracy theorists”... - He stopped for a moment, taking a deep breath before continuing. - Look, I know this a sore spot, but these conspiracy guys… Did those started saying or writing some absurd things about you or something?

Once she made sure she was in ship shape, she sighed to herself before she went for the door to the bathroom and got ready to leave, "If you don't have any questions, I am just gonna go, thanks for the bathroom." She said to him while she headed for the door, she wasn't going to sit back down or anything. If he called her though, she would sigh and walk back to sit down, only to get hit with what she expected to.
Boy, this kid was quick to catch on to the obvious. She just tilted her head at him, her jaw going a little slack while one eyebrow went up as she just looked at him with confusion. "You really are new to the city if you don't know. They've only been harassing me for the past five years, and it's not some small group. Do you even know who I am?" A quick search on the phone would reveal 'blue skinned girl' had a few hits in today's age. And her picture was up there as one of the top fifteen pictures, albeit much younger looking, followed by an article about the girl who rose from the dead.
It was a catchy title about how her body had gone in to a preservative state after she woke up in the city morgue. "Needless to say, I'm marked as a zombie by some of these idiots. And they seem to think I'm the herald of the end of the world, because I'm technically a zombie by legality standards." She didn't give much more information. She didn't want to share this much already, but, she would if he asked, she actually wanted to get some socialization in for once.
