| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ It is a bit of a strange thing to be alone while there must be around twenty people around you. She had her hands in the pocket of the long maxi skirt she was wearing, it was also getting a bit colder and she was wearing her leather jacket that did not fit her personality that she portrait very well but who cared? Apparently no one. So many people made her confused and so many things that she did not want to know and understand all the things that she experienced in the last couple of days.
She looked up from her walk around the semper fi area and stared at the grey sky that she wondered about, would it rain today? Should she have brought an umbrella because this jacket had no hood. Rowan found a small white drone that looked strangely out of place and yet it made a lot of sense that it was here, in the camp, the thing was thought that it was quite out of the way of the armory and she wondered who would be able to use it like that. It might be the girl she had a rumor about. It was perhaps fun to look, like with the girl that used the electronic quirk ehm.. what was her name again?
She decided to follow the little thing that seemed to be heading home if you could call it that. As she followed it, she saw a red-head that she had seen before, "Elise?" How did the emotional piano girl that annoyed her, turn up to be that specific shooter or was this just a coincidence. |

It wasn't often that Elise von Eisenberg sought solitude, in the end, she had started to spend so much time with her beloved childhood friend, who now had in amusing game terms: ranked up her social link with her to the status of lover, that the two were considered inseparable. In fact, there was a new saying started to go around that if someone found Tetsuko by herself it was usually a matter of minutes before Elise would show up, and if not? Then usually there would be troubles! As it had clearly become evident that Elise had only a meager tolerance of twenty-four hours without the iron-blooded girl by her side before things would get problematic! Partial jokes and half-truths aside, today Elise had found herself wandering the forest-like environment near the military demonstration's encampment. It was on the outskirts of the area the rescue scenarios used for their training, and as such, it was the perfect area for Elise to do what she had come here for. And what, in heaven's name could that potential something be? The answer was simple and was found in the form of the portable console which easily fit in her hand. In the eyes of one who was unfamiliar with the technology, they would no doubt likely mistake it for a portable gaming device which was commonly referred to as a 'handheld'.
Seated on a tree stump the girl was quietly watching the screen as it broadcasted the scenery which unfolded underneath the one whose eyes were seeing the nearby landscape beyond the trees. It was a large pool where a makeshift boat was sinking, some maritime rescue scenario, and now one considered things more carefully, perhaps calling it 'eyes' was wrong, for the eyes of this being were, in fact, a camera. That's right, flying overhead was not a reckless hero, but the proud and brave Touma Drone, nicknamed 'To-Dro' by his owner. The drone was silently hovering over the landscape as Elise saw a few familiar faces among the students participating in the exercise. But it did little to ease her troubled mind. So much had happened in such a short period. First, the little misadventure of the Cooking Club had taken Tetsuko away from her for an entire day, and then only a few days later did she stumble upon the new that murderous man, the fiend known as Thunder Shock was kept captive inside the encampment. Of course, she couldn't resist the need to talk to him, to get answers but instead, she found herself troubled more than ever.
She really needed to talk to Touma about this, about the things she learned and how she felt lately. As her guardian and principal, he surely would have some advice for her. It wasn't like she wouldn't be able to talk to Tetsuko about this, far from it but it still troubled her to showcase such an unsightly side of her. She didn't want Tetsuko to see her filled with such hatred and vengeful feelings. No, the Elise von Eisenberg that she wanted Tetsuko to enjoy was that warm and spoiled princess she had fallen in love with.
"And once more the acting begins..." Elise mumbled softly, shaking her head lightly in denial to the statement. Too long had she put up acts and concealed her feelings, and after the dilemma involving Music Night and her feelings involving Rin Kurama, Elise felt that the time for acting was over. She had decided to be honest about her feelings and was ready to accept the consequences of that. But was that something she could truly do? Akio did reassure her that Tetsuko would follow her every step of the way, that something like this wouldn't make her beloved knight stray from her desire to be with her. But then why... why was she feeling so conflicted right now?
The drone had taken a turn along the armory, the sight of a familiar female student registering in the camera but Elise paid little heed to her presence currently, or the fact that she seemed to be searching for something or someone. Heaving another sigh the girl closed her eyes and waited as she listened to the approaching sound of the rotor blades of the drone. It would be here any moment now, And then it came. the familiar noise suggested the drone had come within ten meters of her, but what she had not expected was for a certain voice to call out to her. "Gah Rowan?" Opening her eyes she was only a moment too late to notice the scowl that still lingered on her face, yet after a moment let out a soft cough and allowed the scowl to fade to a more polite neutral look.
"I'm sorry for that reaction just now, I didn't expect anyone to be bored enough to be chasing a drone into the middle of nowhere." Elise mused softly as she watched the drone land at her side and deactivate itself with a soft beep. "So, you found the drone, but I'm afraid he didn't lead you to a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, that's a leprechaun by the way." A little jest in the hope to lighten up the mood as she continued. "Then again, I'm surprised you even remembered my name, considering we only met once before." And she sort of doubted that this girl was like Kanna, yeah she doubted Rowan was the type to want to get involved with drama like the one that had plagued the A-course their classroom chat for a while. "What brings you here today? If you're here looking for instruments I'm afraid you will only find instruments of war here, even if some of them play quite a fascinating tune of their own."
Indeed, snipers were quite fascinating in their own way, although the metaphor was clearly just that, a metaphor for a loud sniper was an idiot, part of the reason she made the quip against Arata recently when he suggested she would announce her attacks.

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ So many things to sort out, rumors to be followed up and the like. She was a little bit lost in a world that she did not know and most of all, she always thought she did know. There were a lot of things that made her feel like she did not belong, but the feeling only got worse lately as she had already figured out she did not belong somewhere else, she did not belong in the world of a normal high school with her quirk, people tend to be afraid of someone who could blow up things by touch. She tried to forget the idea of that, she tried to forget that people would be afraid of a seventeen-year-old and even if she could not remember because she did not know that the Burning Lady spoke to him, but there was something within her. Something that was trying to point out that it wasn't good that she was basically still hiding her quirk even if you went to a school that was specialized in using quirks and trying it out and making them better.
Apart from that, she could have no idea how she was so brave to lit Kanna her cigarette at their first meeting, at a party full of people where probably a lot were quirkless. She did not want to consider it, she was actually done thinking about it too much to freak out and so on. Wasn't it better to just ignore it, to just, live a normal life? What she had doubted before, even though Maxi spoke to her to sorta stop the self-doubt because a lot of people were already thinking that, they were not the heroes from the comic books yet and so on but well they might become that later. She did not trust that idea and with the Burning Lady going on, she wasn't even sure how she got her mind in her own mind, but that did not matter for now. What mattered was that she was at an army ground, Semper Fi and that she followed a Drone thinking all that and that she found Elise at the end of that.
Elise, who annoyed her at the very first meeting with her long dreadful talk about the meaning of music, while Rowan played the Violin and had the Violin with her, she was sure that Elise meant well but it was the only reason why the girl had not forgotten Elise after just one meeting. Surprisingly the light aired girl from last time, did not at all look so light headed anymore, she even had a scold on her face and that was pretty devastating to consider. She couldn't help but pout herself when Elise mentioned that she had not figured out someone to be bored enough, she needed to defend herself."Well, it is easy if you have seen everything," Which she did except for the medical area but you did not want her to be there, she would literally puke if she spotted something like one drop of blood, too spoiled perhaps. "As well as, I heard enough rumors about a special girl, so I thought perhaps the drone belonged to her. I wouldn't have guessed it was you." She made an assumption and that could only make her look more stupid if it wasn't Elise, but perhaps she had made a mistake with the aloof girl and perhaps it was her, or well, it was a nice short hopefully conversation about a drone.
It was hard for the black-haired student to keep up with people's jests and jokes, such as this one, she hoped her giggle this time wasn't too late as it was with Haruto, "Well you made an impression with your piano play." Wasn't it Miku or Akio who had mentioned Elise as well, Rowan wasn't sure but perhaps they did as they discussed musical talents. "Oh no, I am not looking for anything but just walking around, hence why I also followed your drone." As it was clear that the drone was hers. "But most of all I just was on my way to clear my head so don't worry, if you rather be alone, I just walk on." She quickly added, she was actually kind of curious what kind of person Elise was if she really had made a mistake, it was only worthwhile to figure it out or so she thought. |

When Rowan commented that 'she had seen everything' already Elise couldn't help but chuckle bitterly. "The ones who say those words are usually the first ones surprised by something unexpected." Elise answered her, clearly amused at the sheer confidence the girl tried to project. To say that you had seen everything was a foolish notion of its own, even a enclosed location like this military encampment was full of surprises waiting to be found, and if one disregarded those, then it was still full of countless people who visited it, from the Quirkers that were attending the military demonstration to the soldiers serving as staff at the event, simply said it was all was too easy to be caught by surprise with something unexpected or unpredictable. If there was one thing that the burgundy-haired lass had learned recently, then it was without a doubt the fact that life was unpredictable, and that the things one might take for granted, could easily disappear someday. Perhaps it was part of that slumbering pessimism that was born from the loss of her parents, but that was a thought for later. However, it were the words that followed that made Elise tilt her head slightly to the side in confusion, a hand raised to her chin as she pondered for a moment. "Hmm, a special girl?"
She turned her gaze sideways toward the combat drone, the 'Touma Drone' or To-dro for short had gone into standby mode and was merely waiting for her to give a command, but meanwhile, Elise couldn't help but feel somewhat interested in this 'special girl' that Rowan commented about. "While the drone belongs to me, I'm not entirely certain what type of rumors you heard Rowan." Indeed, in her opinion to call herself special was somewhat far-fetched. Although that was because of her own opinion and the fact she was surrounded by people she often considered much more impressive and special. Like there was her beloved Tetsuko who possessed the ability to create iron from her body, or Yumi who could discharge electricity, compared to people like them she found herself to be quite ordinary if she was to be entirely honest. All she had going for her was her healing quirk and her ability to shoot a gun. Sure, she loved firearms and was pretty confident in her shooting skills with them, but to label her special? Of course, little did the Germanic lass know that her skills were in fact indeed quite on the level to call her special, to the point that some soldiers who trained their entire lives to wield those firearms still couldn't match her when it came to shooting skills!
"But if you sought the owner of this drone, you found her~ However, I don't have much going for me aside from my healing powers and my shooting skills with firearms, but I wouldn't really label them as something 'special', there are much more amazing people at school than me." Indeed, there were quite a few people she could imagine who would fit the label of special and hero much better than she did, but she quickly dispelled the thought and mused softly. "I wonder if it was my performance or my rant which left an impression on you~" A brief chuckle followed as she shook her head lightly. "I don't care, if you wish to stay, so you're welcome to stay, people don't come here often so at least we won't have to worry about a crowd."
She leaned back against the tree stump, noticing how one side of the tree was almost carved out like some sort of chair or throne and closed her eyes while she mused out loud. "Although, I wish I could have gone back to those days." Indeed, it would had been an ideal scenario for sure, but she knew such a thing was impossible, the reality was simply too cruel for that to be a wish capable of granting. "So, what has your opinion been of the military demonstration?"
A sudden question was asked by Elise as she turned her gaze toward Rowan and continued. "I get that this is primarily a way for the army to show off their strength, and it's an attempt to asses if people with Quirks are capable of being an asset for the military, but I can't help but wonder if everyone in the army thinks like that. I heard and seen quite a few occasions where there is extreme intolerance and prejudgment toward people with quirks, so I can't help but wonder what motive this event actually has."
It was also pretty curious that her sensei didn't want to be involved with the event in the slightest. Each time she had invited Kobayashi to the military demonstration camp he had declined the invitation because he was busy with one thing or another, and yet it actually wasn't that she was suspicious, more than she wanted to learn more about how he saw this event. In the end, as her mentor and guardian, she did look up immensely to him.
"What about you? What purpose do you think this event has?" Although she didn't know Rowan much, or pretty much at all aside from that one encounter in the music room, Elise couldn't help but wonder what type of opinion or thoughts Rowan might have about the military demonstration camp. "Would be nice if it could pave a way for the military to become more tolerant and accepting of people with quirks, but from what I saw it feels like that might be a naive desire." She shook her head lightly and tapped the drone lightly. "Not that I care in particular, it's not like I plan to join the military as my sensei did, but it certainly would make things easier if people were a bit more openminded toward situations like this."
Indeed, it was a good thing that Kobayashi Touma at least didn't seem to share that same type of mindset some of the soldiers here did...

| ◀ | The heart is a heavy burden ❤ She wanted to roll her eyes, but most people did not like to see it when you roll your eyes when they said something so Rowan refrained from doing it really, but thought obviously about it mentally but Elise would not know that. She wanted to say something about it, defend herself and at some point she might say but she was still considering if she would have to. What was the point in defending yourself anyway and why did she feel that need all the time? Why did she actually felt annoyed with Elise the first time? Perhaps for comments like this, it was just like Elise seemed to understand the world already so much better than Rowan did and she could only feel like the spoiled little brat that she technically was. "I more meant, everything that interests me. I am still around aren't I?" And she sure as hell planned to make use of it but she, wasn't entirely satisfied about the whole ordeal here. Perhaps that was the best way to form her opinion about Semper Fi. It was good to learn something but it did not entirely match out with what she wanted to learn or do in the future,a s in that she wasn't even sure if she wanted to be a hero. Though still rather a hero at this point than a villian.
Are you sure about that.
She had no idea why the Burning Lady seemed to be saying that in a way, as if she knew more but Rowan ignored her, as she usually did. She already found her remark too defensive and attacking, which was why she had tried to avoid. She should stop making such damn assumptions. Elise seemed to be rather nice and she could play piano very well, so why did Rowan got the feeling every time to be so harsh against her? It was probably something like a jealousy that she did not know nor understood. And the reason she came here was just to get some breathing space as well as satisfying her curiousity. How she did not understand what happened a week ago, was it even a week ago? She had a total blackout about it, she was shopping and suddenly she... well let's not think about it. It might be another reason why she randomly followed a drone. She nodded, when Elise confirmed her words, because yes she had said special girl and it could be rather bad that she had said she had not expected Elise. Special in what way was a good start and now she might have sounded offensive.
Well at least Elise was humble, it would be good for Rowan to be that as well, she would have accepted something immediately like that, and mostly it would not be about her, that was for sure. But, the thing was that it wasn't Elise in that case, all Rowan heard was that she, the special girl that is, was so good at the shooting range that she had impressed the military people here at Semper Fi and that some were obviously jealous as they did not even show that amount of well, raw power, ability, what did you want to call it to shoot like Special girl. So while Rowan thought about how to answer, she listened with half an ear to what Elise said a bit after that, that at least the drone belonged to her. It was very interesting to see or have one Rowan believed. To the point of which Rowan froze and turned her self, eyes and body overall to Elise, "But that's it. There are these rumours about a girl who is amazing at the shooting range and she is said to be a U.A. student so it must be you, Elise." She shook her head shortly, disturbing the bun on the back of her head so she had to get the hair tie out. "You can take some credit for that." She said with a small smile, it was a good thing for Elise, she did not want to become more jealous, there must be things that she was good at, Maxi had said so, she had won in the competition against Masaki and, well, she couldn't come up with more but was that necessary for the moment? She was only a first year and as she had realized in her conversations with Kanna, she still had a lot to learn even about the normal society.
The way Elise spoke about that there were probably more amazing people at school than herself, reminded her of what she had said to Maxi, "I think you are quite amazing yourself." She decided to say, there was no trace of jealousy now as she understood what Elise meant, "But I believe the same can be said about myself." She gave a wry smile, as she meant what Elise said, she did not believe herself to be all so amazing. She wanted to talk to Jasmine for a while now and yet did not have mustered up the courage to do so. "and yet, one day, we might prove ourselves wrong." Which was difficult for herself to phantom but it was better to say it now and try to point out a bit to herself what Maxi had tried. She had to see Maxi, as she had spoken to her mother and she was quite curious if he had spoken to his family, could it be. But not now! She was in a conversation with Elise who could use some compliments or so it seemed as well.
With the invitation to stay, she went to sit down herself, albeit with a pout on her face. She rather not sit on the grass ground, who knew what kind of mud would show up or grass stains and let's not talk about bugs and other disgusting little creatures that could show up and walk over her and.. alright, that's enough! "Back to those days? What do you mean?" Because Rown did not completely understand where the conversation was going to, and she would listen if Elise answered or else just try to not poke her nose where it did not belong. It reminded her of what Akio had told her and.. she shivered, let's not think about that either. "Oh ehm, my opinion, well it is certainly not my cup of tea but you can learn a lot and that's always... good?" She more formed it like a question, she had not really formed an opinion yet. she liked her meeting with Masaki, not even because she won but the private Yoshida had been nice and so was Masaki. She had at the point of meeting the lieutenant and Kirk not been happy at the end but now she was rather okay with it. She liked her rescue mission with Miku albeit it being difficult and the instructors being total pricks but, "It is nice to try out yourself in different settings, if you can say it like that. It is sort of a look in your future with those rescue missions and all." She listened to Elise and felt like it was exactly the same as the stranger said when she had that tour through the armoury. "I know not everyone is entirely happy about quirkers in general and they are a bit biased in their way of handling us students and civilians I believe." So now that she thought about it, what purpose did the event have? It could not be merly showing it to the society? That would be dumb, how much villians would be here to able to see? "Perhaps it is, trying to become more open minded to quirks? Like, we at U.A. can learn from it for our future perspectives but the military people that are prejudiced can see not all quirkers are bad or not all quirks are I don't know, scary?" Of course she could not make assumptions to what happened why people were against quirks but, it gave her a feeling as if she spoke to someone else more or less about this but she could not remember.
This conversation gave her so many different vibes that she did not like it, it reminded her of things she could not remember, probably to do with the blackout but as well as the conversation with a stranger, who did not seem to be satisfied about the prejudice that the guards would have against quirkers. What if... no, she should not make her own assumptions. |
