Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
It was after a long day at the military camp that he got the message. A message that, without Ryuusei knowing it, would possibily shape his whole future. Just like in the previous days, Ryuu had been practicing his ability to handle a combat knife with both Lietenant Hideaki Ryouta - his mentor - and Darren - his friend and fellow companion in regards of learning how to use the small scale weapon. On a little changing room creater at the camp for the intent of showers and change of clothes Ryuusei found himself under boiling hot water. He looked down on his body as the steam floated around the room and his wet hair dangled down with the extra weight. Each mark told a story. The little fresh bruises all around his torso from Darren's stabs with a wooden knife; Two ribs from his left side visibily deformed, a consequence of Ryuusei having let them heal naturally and not going to the hospital after the beatdown he received from the man he would later kill at a Kabukicho alley; His right arm and leg still with burn marks along with a big scar on his left ankle - a consequence of having the foot surgically repaired with two metal screws - all of them consequences of his training fight with Jasmine. Igarashi Ryuusei was only sixteen but his body already told a bigger story. And the changes weren't only from physical damage, but also from growth: since entering Yuuei he had grown a few centimeters, felt heavier and his body was more defined. Leaning with his right arm against the shower wall, the necklace he always wore dangled as the water kept pouring on his back. He looked at it with sad eyes. Yaso... Her body grew weaker as Ryuu's grew stronger. Why? Why was the feeling of wanting her back becoming so distant? Why did the feeling of leaving his sister behind didn't, in part, made him feel guilty anymore? Why did he like those scars so much? Could it be possible that the voice inside the... real Ryuusei? The deep buried one that had been waiting to come alive? With a towel around his waist, he was preparing to get dressed when a military man stormed in. Neither of them got fazed by the situation - formality and orders, there was no room for more. Corporal Tanaka Greyson requested Ryuu's presence and he was to be led to a specific location by the man who had come to deliver the order. Fair enough. Once he arrived at the door the man who had brought him there left. It was already night time and there weren't many people left at the camp. It was also the first Ryuusei was at this zone, being that it was a area reserved only for higher ups and authorized personel. That made it so that Ryuu had no idea what lied on the otherside of that wooden door. Wearing a grey hoodie and some regular jeans, the invisible kid who had his left ear pierced knocked on the door. It was time to meet the man named Tanaka. Notes: Let's go!Words: 526.Tags: Dauwz

Things were going according to plan. What plan? Nobody but Tanaka Greyson knew. And the man was as secretive as his reputation preceded him to be. What the Corporal had planned for the lone high school kid was anybody's guess. Heck, most would considering him an idiot for wasting time with some random kid from a supposed hero school. Not to mention that said kid was unremarkable at best. There were so many others to choose from - kids who have been through thick and thin and have risen to the top through sheer grit and determination. But oh there was one simple thing that so many of these fools haven't noticed. A spark in the young Ryuusei Igarashi that made him a golden egg among all of these ruffians trying to masquerade as heroes.
Everything was set up. Oh how curious Tanaka was to see what Ryuusei Igarashi would decide to do in this scenario. Looking over the three prisoners tied up and on their knees, blindfolds over their eyes and rope over their mouths to keep them from speaking, he snickered in an almost sinister a fashion, his snake-like eyes looking over each one.
This would be perfect.
As prompt as he was, he had to make sure he didn't miss Ryuusei coming back from his training with Lieutenant Hideaki Ryouta. That man was a do-gooder and oftentimes a pain in his rear, but he did have his uses. The Colonel knew exactly the effect Hideaki tended to have on his men. Inspiring loyalty was something the Lieutenant was seemingly born with. Tanaka was well aware that Hideaki would be able to light a fire in Ryuusei that would make him take the very first step towards what he envisioned for the young lad. All he had to do was push him forward... yet at the same time make him aware that there were multiple paths he could take and which one he chose was entirely up to him.
The light that everybody so desperately chased... or the darkness that everybody was so frantically afraid of?
With a smile on his face, Tanaka made his way towards a quaint corridor in the barracks, quiet, practically barren - just outside of the locker rooms. It was where he had summoned Ryuusei Igarashi for a simple chat. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the boy to show up.

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
When the door was opened Ryuusei's face could only be described as one of genuine surprise... surprise and confusion. The man who opened the door wasn't Tanaka, but yet another soldier - a different face from the one who Ryuu followed a few seconds before, but the same expressions. The man - still wearing his uniform despite it being off-duty hours - looked Ryuusei up and down. Then, only his head peeking from the door, he started looking around and behidaa the Yuuei student. It was just like the man was making sure that nobody followed Ryuusei to that place. The young boy was about to talk. Something like asking where Corporal Tanaka was, since that was the man he was told to meet. Bt, before he had the chance, the soldier stepped foot outside the door, closing it behind him without saying a word to Ryuu. The youngest Igarashi even had to quickly move to the side to make sure that the other man didn't bump against him. When the only thing that Ryuusei could see was the man's back he heard only two words. "Stay there."And, just like that, the man disappeared in the darkness. There wasn't much that Ryuusei could do, but it all seemed weird, too weird. Why all the moving and waiting, the different soldiers appearing and disappearing? Were they trying to cover the meeting that was to take place? If so, what would be the reason for that? Ryuusei let himself get lost in those thoughts while he waited outside, leaning against the wooden door. A little more than five minutes had passed when he heard another voice: the third of the night. "Follow me", the man said without stopping. His voice was rough and so was the man's body. He had the same structure as Ryuu's father, but seemed way younger... and, at the same time, his presence felt much stronger and menacing. Contrary to the last two man escorting Ryuusei, this one wasn't wearing a military uniform: just some worn out clothes, so dirty and damaged that they could belong to an homeless person. Two things stood out to Ryuusei as he followed the man, who seemed to be, at least, five years older than him. First was the mark on his neck. It depicted the image of what it looked to be like a monster and, seeming almost like a scar, Ryuu was sure that it had been made in the same matter that people mark cows: with hot steel straight onto the flesh. The second, and perhaps even more uncommon, was the huge thing the man caried on his back... Is that a sword...? - Ryuu wondered looking at the object. It had the shape of one, but it was way to big... almost the same size as Ryuusei himself. It was more like a big chunk of metal, with such apparent weight that one should be able to carry it, much less use it - How the hell does h-"You're Ryuusei, correct?", the man interrupted Ryuu's thoughts. Uhm, yes, Ryuu responded. "That snake-eyed bastard really is going forward with it..." the man thought, before stopping his step and talking again to Ryuusei. "Down the hall. You'll meet him there."Yeah... Thanks.Ryuusei began walking, surpassing the man. A few steps down, heard him for the last time. "It'll be interesting if we meet again, Ryuusei."Turning around, Ryuu could no longer see the man that carried that huge piece of steel on his back. That night was getting more and more weird. Ryuusei had been led to the barracks near the locker room he had been in, so why the hell was all that precaution and moving around? Who the hell is this Tanaka? he questioned as he walked through the dark hall. Reaching the end, he saw the silloute of a man in the shadows. Keeping a little distance he stopped himself before speaking up to the figure. So, are you Tanaka Greyson or do I have to walk even more? The 1-A Vice-President did not know this, but, if Hideaki Ryouta was a potential version of Ryuusei himself, then Tanaka Greyson was the other side of that same coin... and, maybe, the side Ryuusei was getting more close to. Corporal Tanaka Greyson was a man of many mysteries. His own med knew very little about him, and even those that stood above him in the chain of command only knew as much about him as they would about an enigma. His endeavors were shrouded in mystery and more often than not he had the means to keep them as such, whether through how he operated or through various... third party means, so to speak. The corporal had his hand in many a pocket and had proverbial dirt on people very high up the ladder of rank. If there was something that somebody shouldn't know, he very quickly made sure that somebody wouldn't breathe a word of it to anyone, whether through means such as extortion and racketeering or something more... violent. Yet he had this talent of never dirtying his own hands.
If deception was some kind of invention made by somebody in a lab, you could be certain that the corporal was one of the front runners for its development, backing its progress both financially and through his own mischievous ingenuity.
One might wonder why Tanaka went to such lengths for things that were a mystery to so many. And if he, for once in his life, were to give an honest answer, he'd simply tell you it was for his own twisted sense of amusement. He cared little for the larger agenda of the military, nor did he care about the current system that the government was trying to implement. All he wanted to do was shift the tide into a direction that was... intriguing. Different from the normalcy that followed everyday life. He enjoyed the existence of humans and more often than not he wished to study them. Their habits, mannerisms, what they would choose given a difficult situation, would they compromise their values and beliefs when pushed into a corner too difficult to claw out of using conventional, justifiable means? It was like a high that he consistently chased without any sight of end.
And thus Ryuusei Igarashi had been trapped in the same cycle. Put under a microscope, Ryuusei had been quite the interesting subject for Tanaka to analyze. Brought up in a loving family, not very ambitious, slightly introverted, really. But all signs pointed towards him trying to break out of his shell. What amused him the most was how it was exactly that that had almost ruined the boy. And yet he, in a very interesting chain of events, decided to go towards a path not many expected. Instead of backing down and accepted defeat, he pushed forward. Not in your traditional sense, mind you, but in one that was more... apt to change, let's put it like that. The boy seemed easily influenced, as was displayed when Lieutenant Hideaki Ryouta got his hands on him and managed to convince the boy that what he needed was to stop listening to people and chase what he himself believed in. A respectable outcome, to be sure, and it was one the corporal had expected Hideaki to guide Igarashi towards.
It had been several days now that the boy had trained with the lieutenant. It was to be expected that his skills in the use of a knife increased - despite being a lousy do-gooder, Tanaka couldn't deny the lieutenant's skill within the human resources department of the military. As a trainer Lieutenant Hideaki Ryouta was second to none, both in his ability to inspire the men under his command and with his skill in training them to be better than they ever thought they could be. It was that trait in the lieutenant that the corporal had used so many times in the past and it was what made Hideaki so invaluable to this plan of his. Now that Igarashi Ryuusei was comfortable in his role and was given a direction to choose from, it was time to make him choose. And boy was Corporal Tanaka Greyson expecting to see a show as he patiently waited for the boy to show up.
And when he did, Tanaka Greyson offered a sincere smile to the boy as he extended his hand to him to shake, "Igarashi Ryuusei, in the flesh. Corporal Tanaka Greyson. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Hideaki has told me much about you," he said. The way the words rolled off his tongue made him seem friendly, approachable, like he had nothing but Ryuusei's best intentions at hard. Only the people who genuinely knew what Tanaka was like would be able to tell that it was all a ruse - all pointed to test Ryuusei. To see what he was capable of. The first part of his plan was to earn the boy's trust. Then came the fun part.
"Tell me, how has your experience with the military been so far? I hope the men here haven't given you too much trouble?"

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
Turning to Ryuusei, the figure that the boy assumed to be Corporal Tanaka Greyson revealed itself, allowing the boy that was studying at Yuuei to see, for the first time, the face of the man who wished to see him. Tanaka looked way younger than what Ryuusei would've expected. His hair was just a little shorter than Ryuu's and seemed to be gray in colour, despite having some clear shades of purple. He had a long face and an equally long mouth, a feature that was even more noticeable when the man smile. What stood out the most was, however, Tanaka's eyes. They were extremely slinted, just as if they were shut. Ryuusei couldn't even tell the colour of the man's eyes. Overall, Tanaka's expressions were of a serious yet friendly man; of a pretty yet mischievous individual. That was all that went throught Ryuusei's head as soon as he saw the man. Tanaka approached Ryuu and, with a smile, offered him his hand to shake. Ryuu complied, giving him a firm and strong grip while keep his eyes on Tanaka's face while hearing what he had to say. Ryuusei always thought of himself as a good judge of character, but with Tanaka... he couldn't tell if all that sympathy was real or fake. So, Ryuusei went along with it. Nice to meet you Corporal Tanaka Greyson. I hope that he has told you good things. And then, only then, did Ryuu let go of Tanaka's hand. It was after this that he replied to Tanaka's follow up question. It's been good, I actually like it here - he was, in fact, being honest about this feeling - Being beaten up a bit, working under the sun, the rules and hierarchy... It gives you more of a sense of direction than Yuuei. It's ike in here I can actually find out who I'll become. The second part wasn't completely true. He didn't like the whole idea of rankings in any way or form and, if Tanaka had heard or eavesdropping on Ryuu's conversations with Hideaki he would know that. Ryuu really just said it to test the man, to see if with that he could a reaction that would allow him to read Greyson in the same way he can get a feel for Lietenant Hideaki. However, the secondd part was also true: as the days went by, he was getting more and more confortable at the camp when comparing to Yuuei. But why did you call me here, sir? - Ryuu went straight to the point while keeping eye contact and his deattached tone, with no extra comments. Notes: ---Words: 439.Tags: Jasmine Noir

Corporal Tanaka Greyson's smile only widened as Ryuusei Igarashi accepted his handshake. The boy's grip was firm, strong and confident - something that the older military man much liked seeing in the boy. It was a pleasure to see that Ryuusei had some backbone left in him considered what he had been through - the situation with one Rinkusu Kurama had been quite the development, as he had been informed. Tanaka had eyes and ears anywhere and everywhere he wished, thus knowing pieces of information that he wasn't supposed to know was a commonplace occurrence for him, to be honest. When he had first found out, it had dampened his excitement to see the boy in action. And yet he was happy to be pleasantly surprised. Not only had the boy utterly exceeded his expectations - something that almost never happened - he had gone above and beyond. The conversation Ryuusei had had with Hideaki the first time he met the lieutenant had been an intriguing one to listen in on and digest. So many possibilities brimming within this lad. He was so close to blooming Tanaka could barely hide his excitement.
"Good things indeed," the corporal offered, a quiet hum following his voice, sounding as mysterious as it was mischievous. Having met the boy face-to-face for the first time outside of simply observing from the sidelines or simply looking at his physical and mental profiles, Tanaka gave him a quick once over. Frail, somewhat meek, yet clearly working to better himself. Ryuusei had found a problem with himself and was now actively trying his best to fix it. He could respect that. It was a simple human desire - to be better. Yet so very few people acted on it due to either a lack of trust in one's self or the simple thought that they couldn't ever measure up to those standing above. Seeing that Ryuusei had the mental fortitude to realize that he could do what he desired so long as he put the effort in was like a breath of fresh air.
"Follow, please," Tanaka instructed as he spun on his heel to show his back to the student. Yet Ryuusei would soon realize - even if Tanaka showed his back to him, seeming to be showing some kind of opening, it was anything but that. Corporal Tanaka Greyson showing his back to someone was often considered an invitation. Try it, said invitation would say. There was nothing more terrifying than it, and Ryuusei could likely feel it. The sensation of certain death should he try anything at all that would harm the corporal. It had been one of the tactics Tanaka was best at. Deception. Show a supposed opening, make them think they had a chance... before utterly snuffing out whatever hopes they had. It wasn't something he actively tried doing; protecting himself had become much alike a second nature to the military man.
"I'm very happy to hear that," he supplied then. "The men here can be a handful to deal with sometimes. Honestly they can come across as a little suffocating at times. But they mean well and they're a good lot," he explained, his voice as casual as it was... strange. It had a certain glint in it that almost anyone could sense had multiple meanings to it.
With the finesse of a cat, the corporal walked down a dark, dimly lit corridor in the military barracks, fully expecting Ryuusei Igarashi to follow orders. "Does it, really?" He then asked following Ryuusei's statement, feeling rather amused. Was the boy trying to test him? That was an entertaining thought. Very well, he'd play along. "I wouldn't have ever pegged you for someone who enjoyed taking orders. You strike me as someone more independent. Someone who... let's just say is willing to do what he needs to do for things to go his way," he explained, grinning behind the shadow cast on his face from the shade surrounding them. What he said - he meant. He was fully expecting Ryuusei to be an individual who was capable of making decisions by himself. But being thrown a sentence like this, worded it as it was, would've come across as very accusatory, almost as though Tanaka insinuated that Igarashi was prone to insubordination. He sincerely wondered how he'd reply. It was one of the ways he wanted to test the boy, to see what decisions he would make and where those decisions would take him.
With the younger Yuuei student in tow, the corporal had rounded a few corners before walking down a flight of stairs. The next section of the building they found themselves in was even darker than the last one. Damp, warm and humid, it was almost like a dungeon. Several guards were at their stations, casually manning their posts yet perking up as Tanaka walked by them. He didn't offer them a single word as he passed, but it was obvious that the men were practically terrified of him.
"To be honest with you, Ryuusei Igarashi, there is one very... general question I want to ask you before I give you an answer," he explained as he stopped in front of a closed, iron door, turning over his shoulder to glance at the student with that very same sly expression on his face. The door was dirty, battered and beaten down. It looked heavy, yet honestly at the same time it seemed as though it was barely intact, willing to crumble down upon a singular touch.
"How far are you willing to go to enforce what you believe to be right?" He asked. Simple as that. One simple question, yet at the same time so complex it would make a person's head spin should they take it seriously. Would Ryuusei struggle with it? Or would he answer without a shred of hesitation? Considering his development, corporal Tanaka Greyson was much too interested to hear him answer.

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
"Follow, please."Only those two words were enough to reply to Ryuusei. The point of the meeting wasn't something that could be explained, but rather seen - or, at least, first looked at and only then talked about. That was how Ryuu took Tanaka's short yet strong reply. It was then that the air got colder: when Tanaka Greyson turned his back to the youngest of the Igarashi household. He walked in a slow pace, his posture as straight as one would expect from a military man with some years of duty under his belt. Ryuusei limited himself to follow with a few steps of distance. But that feeling that the teenager was felling... it bothered him. Actually, it did more than that. It was a scratching beneath the skin, an itching that wouldn't go away, an inconscious alert to the presence of danger. In those dark halls, Tanaka's back had been replaced by a green anaconda, waiting with patience for its prey, inviting any kind of animal to come closer if they dared. Ryuusei knew that Tanaka did not possess any kind of Quirk but, for those first moments, it was as if the corporal had the ability to create unbearable fear among men, The kid wearing the grey hoodie shook of the feeling by replying to Tanaka once again, using the opportunity to distract his brain from that unknown feeling. That they are, he went along with Tanaka's tone. The conversation kept going on those rather claustrophobic halls. The oldest man picked up Ryuu's previous choice of words, by what it seemed. Nothing that Ryuusei wasn't expecting from the first impression that he got. The almost blonde haired Yuuei student kept both of his hands inside his hoodie's pockets as he gave an answer to Tanaka's thoughts about his personality and how that wouldn't go along well with the system of the military. I'm assuming that my leader would be a smart individual and give the right orders. Afterall, your assessment of me is correct.Once again, a completely intentional choice of words. A leader is only a leader when he knows how to lead. That's how Ryuusei thought. If the leader's decision making wasn't up to the task then it was up for the squad to fill the hole of his mistakes. A squad isn't just supposed to be a mindless machine: they are supposed to be like water, able to shape itself accordingly to every different situation - including the presence of a bad order. That was what Ryuusei meant: following, but it eyes always open... even if the back of the one you're following is a scary sight. Ryuusei also thought that Tanaka would be able to understand very well who Ryuu was thinking about when he said "leader". They arrived at what it seemed to be their final destination. Ryuusei would never huess that the Semper Fi Camp had such deep and intricate rooms and halls underneath the ground. He was now at what was basically an underground post, with many soldiers on guard. They seemed different though: like they operated off the normal grid of the military. As they walked towards a almost giant iron, dirty door, each foot stepping into small concentrations of unclean water and mold, Tanaka posed a question to the student. A "general question" as he introduced it himself. "How far are you willing to go to enforce what you believe to be right?"They were both now standing still in front of the door. Tanaka with his back still turned to the boy, but looking at his face over his shoulder. At least it looked like it: one could never tell when his eyes were open. However, Ryuusei looked into them. His answer would come quickly, with no hesitation and in the same tone as their entire conversation so far. An answer even more simpler and shorter than the question asked. One single word that was powerful and meaning enough in such context. Yes, that would be clear enough. Far.Notes: What lies on the other side of the door?!Words: 672.Tags: Jasmine Noir

Far.
"Excellent," was Tanaka Greyson's reply, his voice low and almost ominous. A small smile had painted his face as he watched the younger boy, his mind aflutter with all kinds of different scenarios. However this plot line would end, he was sure it would be an interesting one to behold. He was sure of it, and honestly that was his only motivation for doing practically anything. Few moments passed before Tanaka, silently, raised his hand. He slammed the side of his fist into the metal door three times, each time accompanied with a very loud clang of what seemed to be hollow metal. The sound echoed and bounced off of the underground compounds damp and dark corridors, coming across as almost twice as loud as they were supposed to be.
Not ten seconds later was the door opened, the creak and wheeze of the metal sounding off in a rather high-pitch noise. As it opened, it revealed two large men. The one that had opened the door immediately perked up at the sight of the Corporal, tightening his grip on the assault rifle in his hands, "Sir," he greeted, moving aside so his superior could enter. His eyes set upon Ryuusei for a brief moment, giving the boy a short nod of greeting.
"How are they?" Tanaka then asked as he entered another dimly lit room, this one having a large cell in the middle, three figures hidden behind the rusted bars.
"Skinny there tried to escape," the other guard mused, his voice sounding a little amused. This one was a little leaner in form as compared to the man that had opened the door. His hair was messy, a cigarette in his teeth and a lopsided grin on his face as he glanced at the corporal. He hefted a shotgun onto his shoulder, "Had to break one of his ankles to keep him from trying it again."
Tanaka simply nodded at the statement, his demeanor utterly uncaring about the presented news.
"Come here, Ryuusei Igarashi."
Without any further waiting, Tanaka led the younger boy into the rusted cell. Inside, there were three old chairs. Three figures sat atop each one, all of them tied up with their hands bound behind the chairs' backrests. Their feet were tied, eyes blindfolded and mouths gagged. All three of them had begun struggling as soon as Tanaka and Ryuusei entered their prison, their breathing turning heavy and scared.
"If you were wondering who these people are, you will be acquainted with them very shortly. As to what you're doing here, you will find that very obvious soon. These three have been given to us by our law enforcement system - death row inmates, all three of them, sentenced for a variety of different crimes based on Japanese law. As you know, murder is enough of an offence to get yourself a death penalty in this country. Thus you are free to consider all three of them murderers... or worse."
Slowly, Tanaka Greyson walked to stand behind the three lined up men, the middle one seeming to have the mentioned broken ankle from before. It was clear that he was in pain, grunting and groaning as a single movement from his leg seemed to make him wince... but it didn't look like the military men gave too much of a damn. Tanaka stood behind the right-most individual, planting his hands on his shoulders, the action immediately making the prisoner's heart rate jump.
"This one is Travis McConell. American. Ex-SWAT. Had quite the track record with the marines; a decorated war-hero, really. After his tenure with the marines, he enlisted into the force and was quickly promoted to SWAT captain because of his prior achievements. Years of exemplary service - a man to be looked up to," Tanaka Greyson explained, the sly smile ever present on his face. "However, mistakes happen. During one assignment, things had gone terribly wrong. Religious extremists had taken over a stock brokerage in New York City - McConell's team was sent in to deal with the issue. Everything went smoothly enough, until he received the order to shoot a child. He refused to follow the order, as most righteous men would. Which turned out was a mistake. The child was a suicide bomber and it resulted in the deaths of dozens of people, including his own squad," the story seemed to have made the struggling prisoner freeze in his seat, his head then hanging low in defeat. "You can probably imagine what happened after such an act of insubordination and the resulting events. He was unable to find a similar job anywhere in the states. Thus he moved to Japan. Things weren't much different here. Thus he started drinking. And drinking. And drinking. Soon he became violent and, before he realized himself, he had the blood of an innocent bystander in his drunken stupor," he paused before speaking again, this time glancing directly at Ryuusei, "Good intentions don't always breathe the same results."
The smile never disappeared from Tanaka's face as he moved to the second prisoner, "You are probably familiar with this type of criminal," Tanaka began, a somewhat ironic chuckle leaving him. "Yazaki Homura, convicted murderer and child rapist. A victim of circumstance, really. Grew up in Tokyo under a father that abused him sexually and a mother who turned a blind eye. He ended up killing both of his parents when he was sixteen and then living under the grid until he was finally found by the authorities in his twenties. He's confessed to eight cases of arson, murder, and child molestation. Guess the damage had been done early for this one."
And then came the third one, "This one is an interesting case. Kizuna Takahashi, a well respected judge in his time, highly touted for his critical decision making and the ability to be fair to those he judged... until it was found out that he was crooked. For the right price, he would assist with evidence tampering, thus ensuring that certain cases would fly under the radar whenever shady judgment had been passed. He had enough pull to make anyone who disagreed disappear. He's released dozens of criminals back into the streets, bypassing the law as if it was just some kind of minor inconvenience. Who knows how many people have died because of his greed."
Eventually, Tanaka would then approach Ryuusei. He pulled his own personal combat knife out of its holster on his thigh and offer it to the younger boy, "Their fates are for us to decide, and I want you to do it. They die, they stay imprisoned for life, or we let them go. The choice is yours."

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
The door opened. Two guards, diferente in appearence, were inside the room, as if waiting the arrival of their Corporal. One of the said guards - the largest of them – nodded at Ryuusei, aknowledging his presence. Ryuusei nodded back. The student that came from U.A. Highschool then just decided to listen - and listen closely he did. By the short interaction between Tanaka and both of his subordinates it seemed that they had entered a prison room. They were three if Ryuusei was not being mistaken by the shadows present behind the guards. Apparently one of them tried to escape and got the punishment deemed deserved by the military. It was na interesting situation, but Ryuu still wondered what such scenario had to do with him. Then, as if Tanaka Greyson could read minds, he spoke. "Come here, Ryuusei Igarashi."Ryuusei Igarashi followed, going with Tanaka to the other side of the old metal bars, the place where the three shadows sat, all three of them tied in various places. According to Tanaka’s explanation, they were all death rows inmates. It explained the treatment they were getting. One phrase resonated in specific with Ryuusei, however: “As you know, murder is enough of an offence to get yourself a death penalty in this country.”Yes. It was easy to forget that, even in this new society of heroes and villains, one single morder could make in take the place o fone of those three men. It was by accident and, somewhat, in self-defense, but Ryuusei had killed someone amonth or two ago. He wasn’t caught. Should he be the fourth person sitting in that cell? He brushed off the thought. Erased the notion that he could completely forget that he had killed someone and that, when remembering it, he still felt nothing special regarding it. He simply followed Tanaka with his eyes as the man explained who each individual was and what their story was. A man that allowed one bad decision to spiral his own life out of control. A man who had commited horrible crimes, a consequence of the horrible trauma and abuse that himself had been a victim of. A man with power and influence that cared more about his own pocket than with the state of the world, a personificaion of the system itself. That was how Ryuusei took in the information, letting the details of each one take more of a backseat to the essence of their self. Having finished those formal introductions, Tanaka got, once again, close to Ryuusei. He placed a knife onto Ryuuseis prefered hand - his left one. Ryuu grabbed it by instict. In the dark room, Tanaka spoke. "Their fates are for us to decide, and I want you to do it. They die, they stay imprisoned for life, or we let them go. The choice is yours."He looked at Tanaka. Those damn eyes never showed their true intentions, didn’t they? Even so close, even in such a situation Ryuusei had no idea of what was going inside Tanaka’s mind, what made the man tick. Ryuu hated that feeling of uncertainity. But maybe it was that feeling that attracted the younger man towards the Corporal: perhaps it was something Ryuu would want to achieve himself. Knife in hand, he stood just a few steps from each prisoner. Right, Ryuusei said, telling Tanaka that he would follow to the request and assume the role of the judge. He looked at every single one of them, following theorder by which Tanaka had introduced them with. His eyes lingered on each of them for a couple of minutes. As he did so, he rotated the knife on his hand. It could have been seen as a playful gesture, but it was actually a physical manifestation that indicated that Ryuusei was thinking hardly about the matter at hand. Actually, it was more than thinking. On his brain that once dark space - as it at appeared to him at the Honey Honey Café - and turned white by Yoruhi - as it had appeared during Ryuu’s spar with Darren - was taking shape for the third time. A vast field of white flowers, a white piano in the middle of them being played the the beautiful shape of a woman whose face was still hidden by a shadow. ~~
So, what will your choice be? I’m thinking about it.She kept playing a soft melody as the boy was laying on top of the flowers looking at the sky. I hate that I’m starting to like you.She smiled, giving no response back other than that. Do you think that I… – he stopped himself for a second - ...that we are monsters? The sound of the musical instrument stopped. No, I don’t think so.She got up. In a graceful manner she layed besides Ryuusei, her silk dress mixing with the white petals that surrounded both of them. Her voice got lower, more intimate. You are the furthest there is to a monster. You don’t need fake reasons or petty justisfications. You just do. You just are. With her two índex fingers she touched Ryuusei’s forehead. He remembered such gesture from somewhere. It was reconforting. There’s nothing wrong with it, Ryuusei.~~
He shook his head a little bit, widening his eyes. Had he been out again? No, we was aware of what was happening, of what he was doing – just like when it happened while he fought Darren. It was starting to get more common… He didn’t like that, despite, weirdly, being confortable with it. He found himself in front of the american man. Travis McConell was his name, as the Corporal had previously mentioned. Ryuusei had the blade of the knife pressing against the man’s neck. Due to how tied up he was there wasn’t much he could do about it. I made my choice, Ryuusei spoke to Tanaka, making Travis moving even more. With his free hand, Ryuu took of the man’s blindfold. He made sure to look straight into his eyes. It was something necessary in order for Ryuusei to get answers about himself, questions that his previously killing left unanswered. Was he really able to do that? Take lives without feeling a think? Looking into the eyes of a desperate man right before snatching his soul away, feeling no remorse or hesitation? Tanaka-san, some say that a true monster is someone that kills with no reason or motivation. Someone that kills just because he has the chance to do so. Someone like me right now, for example. There was the typical coldness in his voice, but also a lingering and palpable internal struggle. I disagree with that. Such person understands what they are doing and makes the conscious decision to live with their deeds, taking confort in knowing that, someday, their time will also come. Perhaps I’m like that, even if I’m still trying to figure that out. But no matter how disgusting these type of people are I don’t think they are the monsters of society. He paused, while continuing to look at the despair in Travis’ eyes. A monster is someone that finds a reason for his actions. That tries to justify them. Vengeace, justice, greed, jealousy, the past. They find any little thing that can take their actions outside of the realm of their own decisions and into the realm of what was out of their control. And then they keep on living, convincing themselves that they are not murdereres, rapists, robbers; that they only did those things because of circunstances or because they had no other choice. They lie to themselves and live that lie to their fullest, refusing to understand that, in their core, they acted on their own will. I think that those are the real monsters. He continued to look into the man’s eyes. Ryuusei got his answer. I guess that I am.In a soft motion, like it was nothing, he leaned forward. So did the knife, advancing straight through the prisoner’s neck. Ryuusei waited before the life completly went out of the man’s body before separating himself from him and removing the knife from the throat. It was only because of the trauma of seeing my comrades die. It was only because of the drinking. It all serves to hide the ugly true of your nature, to mask the responsibility that you refuse to accept. He stepped sideaways, stopping behind Yazaki Homura. But you could say the same about someone who blames it all on their upbringing. In a swift motion, he wrapped his left arma round the man’s neck and, like cutting a slice of cheese, he slashed the man’s neck. He continued his slow march to the side. And such logic also applies to someone who sits on the high chair, replacing the blood on his own hands with the green of notes and the gold of coin.Behind Kizuna Takahashi, Ryuusei did exactly the same thign that he did to the man before him. After he was done, not one of the three man was still breathing. Ryuusei looked down at his own hands, at the blade dripping in still warm blood. He wanted to feel it. Anger, regret, despair, nauseous. But he was only na empty shell. The sight of three corpses lined up, the thought of him having been the one do decide their fates in such a twisted way… It was a test to himself, a test to see if he really was the person that he was afraid of becoming. The realization of the answer to such question left Ryuusei with much more doubt and fear than before. He got closer to Tanaka. With some tissue that he had on his pockets Ryuusei cleaned the blade of the knife before extending his arm and offering it back to Tanaka. If Ryuusei was a monster he would say that his actions weren’t that important, that they were all death row inmates and were going to die sooner or later anyways. Ryuusei didn’t think like that, he only thought in the terms of Tanaka’s last sentence to him was: “The choice is yours”. I’m assuming that this will stay between us.He made the choice and did what he did because he wanted to. He felt a pain in his heart: not because of what he did, but because of what him being able to do it implied. Notes: Welp, shit went down.Words: 1,741.Tags: Jasmine Noir

With clear anticipation and curiosity, Corporal Tanaka Greyson watched as Ryuusei Igarashi inspected the three prisoners. It was a sweet, sincere moment. The once innocent boy pondering over his decision. Becoming the executioner. Weighing the actions of the accused and thus distributing his own judgement. Honest and true, Ryuusei Igarashi didn't disappoint. His answer and solution, while not entirely unexpected, was a delight to witness for the older male, his smile growing borderline sinister at the sight of his blade being thrust into the American's neck.
Tanaka listened intently to Ryuusei speak, his hands folded as his smile was still very much there. Beautiful, he thought, taking the entire scene in and digesting it in his mind piece by piece. True to what he believed in, the young boy did not disappoint. He lived up to the corporal's expectations and then some. Yes, this teenager was something else. He was different from all the rabble that posed their self-righteous ideas in front of others. He was a tool to execute his own brand of justice, and that firm belief was what intrigued the older military man so much.
As soon as Ryuusei Igarashi was done and approached him again, Tanaka Greyson gave him a nod of affirmation. A job well done type of gesture. He glanced at the two soldiers near the entrance who had been casually watching the entire scene unfold, "Clean this mess up," he ordered and, while the one with the shotgun groaned lazily, both of them sprung to action. Then Tanaka glanced at the knife Ryuusei was giving back. Smiling, he pushed the knife back towards the boy.
"Keep it," he said. "This is proof of your first real decision. It's proof that you were able to carry out the judgement that you yourself believed was right. And it is a testament to the responsibility this decision left on your shoulders. You are the judge, jury, and executioner because of what you thought was the appropriate course of action to take. Let this knife guide you and serve a constant reminder of who you are, Igarashi Ryuusei. And may it never let you forget that."

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
He felt the knife being pushed back. Was it not clean enough? Why wasn't Tanaka accepting it? "Keep it"
Ryuusei Igarashi looked up to the man as he kept talking. The man continued to talk. It looked different, feeled different. Like there was some kind of real emotion in the words that came out of Tanaka's mouth. Ryuu found himself froze up for a bit with what Tanaka was saying to him. Was he... accepting him? Was it real okay for Ryuusei to have this dark, twisted side? It wasn't a problem? He held the knife dearly and placed it inside the pockets of his sweater. It would always be with him. For all the reasons that Tanaka had mentioned and some are: it wouldn't be only a reminder of who Ryuusei was, but also a memento of who Tanaka was to him. A man that knew his place in the world and did not care what the world thought back. Ryuusei wanted to say thanks, but that wouldn't feel right. There was no need for such thing. I won't, replying to the comment of not forgetting it. And with that, while the two guards cleaned the cell, Ryuusei and Tanaka left thaat darkness. Or perhaps the darkness would now always follow them Notes: The knife being a gift from Tanaka will have so much meaning!!Words: 213.Tags: Jasmine Noir
